This is the five minute focus for Monday, the 12th of August 2024. Thank you to allensobs.com/todd and to God Almighty. The Todd Herman Show is 100% disapproved by big pharma, technocrats, and tyrants everywhere. Now, from the high mountains of free America, here's the Emerald City Exile. Todd Herman. Today is the day the Lord has made, and these are the times, so as God has decided we should live, welcome to the five minute focus. If you ever doubt, the fact that God will lift up people who sacrifice for him. If they listen and they find the way with which God wants them to work together, then take a look at my friend, Katie Faust. Many years ago, Katie started a blog called Ask the Biget. It was her first attempt at breaking into culture to talk about issues related to family. Her mother, whom she dearly loves, is same-sex attracted and lives in a same-sex attracted partnership. They are good friends and they have a great relationship. But people call her a bigot because she defines marriage as between one man and one woman after the Bible. She's not a bigot at all. She disagrees with her mother and she's a loving person. Over time, her media career grew and grew and blossomed. With her friend Stacey Manning, she wrote two books. She's now written one or at least edited it. Because she has used her connections now in conservative media to bring some of the biggest thinkers in conservative politics into her new book, Pro-Child Politics. It looks even at things like national security. I asked Katie, who are the people who are actually coming out and destroying parental rights? Well, the problem is that all of this makes a lot of sense if you're living in the land of ideology. If you never touch grass, as the kids say, then sure, all of this looks really, really good. I mean, you have entire sectors of academia. They're saying that children need to be liberated. We need a children's liberation movement. And Katie fully admits that a lot of this is spiritual, but being clever as a serpent, and wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove, Katie takes an approach to welcome people into talking about parental rights and then beginning to introduce to it God's word. Well, I think that it is to fervently argue on their behalf in ways that are irrefutable and undeniable. That's what I'm after. And unfortunately, I think that Christians did not do the hard work of making their case in a way that the world could understand and instead fell back on just quoting scripture. And I say just quoting scripture because I love the word of God. I mean, like, I'm in it. I try to read the Bible with everyone that I'm with. But when it comes to communicating policy objectives, unfortunately, that can serve to discredit us in their mind rather than doing it's harder, it's harder to understand the historical, anthropological, social, science, psychological aspects of this and then bring to them a case that perfectly represents the word of God, but doesn't a way where they're not able to dismiss us because we are only quoting an authority that they don't recognize. I mentioned that her new book has a robust number of conservative authors. I asked her about national security as an issue of children's rights. That's episode one thousand seven hundred and eighty five. The clips, three clips that we focus on one issue. This may well become one show. We're looking at that. I'm looking at all the feedback I'm getting from you guys. The left is very quick to go out and try to play the meme game, but they're not as good at it as the right. This is really, really encouraging to me. It's an area in which the right is excelling and beating the left at the game of pop culture. You know that JD Vance did something I've been begging these guys to do. Show up and extemporaneously extend an opportunity to debate. This time, he didn't do that right to Kamala Harris, but JD Vance went and shamed the media, parked his plane next to Kamala Harris's plane and said, "Hey, since you guys don't get audience with her, maybe you'll talk to me." Had a little bit of fun. I don't think the vice president waved at me as she drove away, but I'm glad you have done it. And I'm glad to get be here in Wisconsin actually trying to persuade people to vote for us as opposed to just giving another scripted speech. So what are some other things that they could do? Disruptive things like this. This was disruptive. It was smart. It helped bring up the base. There's something President Trump should and could do. Should and could or could and should. Which order does it go on? I don't know that it matters. We'll talk about that. Tim Walts, they're trying so hard to bring the Obama juice around this creepy pervert, Tim Walts. Tampon Tim, that's stuck. You talk about memes, that is sticking to the man. He is a guy who is spending a lot of energy trying to be the insultor and at the same time the friendly uncle and then there's this. Looks like somebody might have fainted up here. If we got some of the EMS, somebody, don't worry about folks do this all the time in my meetings. That may have been someone fainting. Probably was. There was a whole series of those that Rush Limbaugh, God Rustom used to run and what he showed it was always the same speech. It was always the same remark from Obama. It always happened at about the same time. Now I'm not saying that people don't faint at speeches. I'm sure that happens. I know it does. But this consistently and for Tim Walts, they're trying so hard to bring the Obama juice on this. And yes, I'm going to remind you that in the churches, the black churches, they're bringing a plus, the Washington Post wrote an article saying that Kami Harris is going to be part of me. I've promised not to do that. Figurehead Kamala Harris is going to be a revolutionary president. Okay, that's their right. Then they ran an ad promoting the story on Twitter. Is that not an in-kind donation? We'll talk about that plus the other things that arise over the weekend. As the five-minute focus, please do share it with friends and much more importantly, please go with God's Good Grace. (upbeat music)
