Namaste everyone, welcome to the Charvok Podcast, this is Kushal Mehra. Today we're going to talk about the horrific rape and murder of a 31-year-old woman in Kolkata. I don't know how to discuss this, honestly, I have, I don't know what to say or what to start, but today I normally avoid to do these things, I don't like to share gruesome details of the case, but well, today I'm going to do everything that I don't do, usually in my podcast. Today I'm going to share every single detail of this case and let me make it clear, I'm not doing this because it has happened in TMC, I've done this before also, I've actually literally hosted a podcast where women were allowed to, only women were allowed to speak on the podcast where I literally caught that podcast predators amongst us, I've been the one single consistent Indian podcaster in the left wing in the non-left space that has consistently spoken about women related issues in India, it's a cultural problem, like it or not, I don't give a rax ass if everybody gets affected or offended, oh why are you, it is a cultural problem in India, you may not like it. But when I saw the report that SHIV shared, when I say SHIV, I mean SHIV arur and I'm going to bring that screenshot up and these are the reports that SHIV has shared, oh my goodness, I mean it's just horrific. So this is what SHIV's tweet says, "Genital torture, blood from the eyes, head pushed into the wall, the details of the kolkata, arjicar, medical, solid, sound like a nirvaya type crime, and to think that the main accused is a volunteer with the local police. The injuries found, this says bleeding from both eyes, bleeding from mouth, injuries on the face and I can't read the latter half, bleeding from vagina, injury in left leg, injury in belly, injury over left eye, injury at her neck, injury at her right hand, ring finger, injury at her lips, I've even had doctors without naming any of them, privately message me, reach out to me, that the postmortem allegedly is dead due to throttling smothering. Like I said, bleeding in eyes, mouth, vagina, injury to frontal leisure and temporal region on the head with clots, also cheek, nose, lips and lower jaw, head injury marks, thyroid, cartilage was broken possibly due to strangulation, signs of genital torture, mouth pushed against wall or floor to stop from shouting, the most horrific part is this, abnormal quality of seminal fluids, some claim 150 milligrams with other signs of multiple penetration suggesting a gangrape. He's also found on right neck, right neck, right hand, belly and left leg. What kind of barbarism is this? This is every kind of imaginable and unimaginable horror one can think of and you know, today is August 16th. I remember when Shiv had said this, this case wasn't even in the mainstream media. What do we, you know, call it, it's not like it's been a very busy news cycle, no, but such is the barbarism and how it has been normalized for certain parts of India, that it was just confused for another day of another instance of another crime against a woman, as has been the case previously also, but you look at the horrific details and you know, it has been reported also, injuries were there on all possible parts of the body, at her belly, lips, fingers, left leg, her nose and mouth were clamped, imagine her head was pushed against the wall just so that she's not screaming, today when Mrs. Smithy Rani did a press briefing and she said it's a hospital, it's a government hospital, there are people who, you know, keep going around, how did someone not hear and you know, there's so many questions in the sense, since Shiv mentioned Nurbaya in that tweet of his, it was done in a very isolated area, right, in a bus, if they caught that bus and you know what transpired after, hair in a hospital and one important question since you also mentioned the other details, how many people were there, I mean there were so many questions when the first details emerged, the first difficulty was the believing part, you know, processing all this comes later, the first part is believing that this is a doctor, a young doctor, she is in her space, safe space in the sense, she is in a workplace, she is not, you know, in an isolated place or away from civilization, this is a safe space, a designated safe space where thousands of women must be going every day, some as doctors, some as nurses, some as doctors, and yet all this has happened in a place like that, I think the first day when this sort of tweet came out, everyone's just like, no, no, this can't be true, this, everyone just had trouble wrapping the heads around, I can tell you at the people I have spoken to, especially my female colleagues and friends, even they have problem processing that what was really going on, like how, the how part is still something that people aren't able to process, you know, the scratch marks on the face, the mouth and throat being constantly pressed, throat was suffocated, and as you pointed the thyroid cartilage which has also been confirmed and reported in the post-mortem report has been there, bleeding from eyes, bleeding from the private parts, what was happening the chair to bleed from her eyes, I mean, the more you talk about it, the more you just start thinking how, how can someone be this heinous, this animal like tendency to be honest, it's like being torn apart by a wild animal, unimaginable horror, and the worst part is again, had it not been for a couple of more journalists starting with sugar root, no one would have really bothered, had it not been for these gruesome details, no one would have bothered, crucial, I'm sorry, but that's the reality, right, no one would have cared because no one cared in 2021 also, no one cared before the elections when Sondesh Kali was in the news as well, there was pin dropped silence from a lot of TMC, female empowered leaders who sort of come across as these beacons of feminism and modern day women, all good, but there was stunning silence, at least on 9th, 10th, 11th August when the news first must have surfaced in the local channels, local newspapers, someone should have said something, someone should have said, no, we need to investigate this, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the discussion around it, brutality, no, go ahead, go ahead, I remember this India today interview that was going on, and there was this one doctor, I think doctor goes for me, I can't recall the full name, and they said that the kind of injuries that have seen, that have been seen in the entire documentation, this cannot be the work of a single person, imagine all her body parts are injured, it cannot be the work of one person, there is injury in every possible part of her body, every possible part, so there have been a lot of doctors who started with their opinion and commentary as well as many of them reached out to you, that this needs a very proper investigation, for people who may not remember when the Nurbaya case surfaced on the first night, or the first morning after the whole mishap, the whole crime, people or even the police wasn't sure as to how many people are there, it was only after further investigation that one thing led to another, and finally the sixth culprit was caught in this village, this has also been documented, I think in a separate documentary that was released on an OTT platform a few years later, so that is why these early crucial hours was so important, what was the local authority doing there, there was someone who called up the parents of the doctor and told them that your daughter has committed suicide, who was that person, I mean, my worry is there are so many unanswered questions in this entire episode, you know, because in 2012 when the crime happened in Delhi they were, the police ensured there were no loose ends, no loose ends, none whatsoever, over here it's as if the state authorities or so is the perception right now, not very serious about it, probably they have lost those early hours which are very critical to investigation in such cases from a medical point of view, people are just having so many questions, people who are commoners were just reading about this on their WhatsApp and Twitter's and whatever, that right there is a whole case, there was some female friends I spoke to, they said, probably this is a case of rejection, someone going absolutely bonkers and attacking them, people, they were just trying to make sense, something that, you know, can explain this, but nothing can, and number two, how could the local politicians, local councillors, local authorities, not sort of understand the importance of investigation in the early years ahead, forget I'm not even getting to the 14th and the 15th part, we come to that later, I'm talking about 11th August, 12th August, 13th August, yeah, I was just going to say about the barbarism bit, like, how does a parent digest what has happened to their child, like I'm not a parent, right, I don't have children of my own, but I have nephews and nieces, and like, if I get a phone call about something that has happened to my family member, which is as gruesome as this, like, I can't even imagine the trauma, what the family goes through and, and what anybody goes through and, like, who are these people, why, like, why would they do something like this, I'm still stuck at like the level of barbarism that they have unleashed, like, I hope each and every one of them are caught and really, I mean, I'm someone who believes that the death penalty should be in the rarest of rare cases, I think this is the rarest of rare, I have never sort of, you know, there is this lobby in India, which likes to intellectualize this entire death sentence part, confusing them with human rights and whatever, some cases do not warrant any such discussion, some cases should not have any hint of every center has a future nonsense, nothing. My, my, my grudge hair is special that we may not never know the entire list of culprits. My worry is that yeah, because the only days, only first, we should name them who are the alleged culprits here, like, can I play a few video clips for you? Because I am so confused to share. Listen, I, Miraka, by the time the crime and the discussion happens in India, it's the nighttime here. I'm behind. I'm a few hours behind. So in one way, it is beneficial because I get to go on multiple channels and listen to the content. And then, then I get to, so I, like, I, I've been trying to follow barca, I've been trying to follow mainstream media. Like, I don't understand. I just play a few clips of barca. And then I want to play one clip of Kanchan Gupta Dada, too. At the heart of the Kolkata doctors, horrific gang grip and murder is this man, a man who should be prosecuted. The now ousted and disgraced former principle of R. G. Kar college, where the brutal sexual assault and the murder took place. So this is one. Okay. This man has been accused. Now, now I want to take you to Dada's clip with, I'm so confused. Like, what is happening? Gao, right? And Dada is someone I have a lot of respect for. Dada saying that this man is just a tip of the iceberg. So Dada was on India today. Kanchan Gupta, for those who don't know, a veteran Indian journalist, a senior journalist, someone we all really deeply respect. So this is what Dada said. Yes, you know, you've always spoken about the fact, and please tell us a little more about it that Calcutta newsrooms, you did mention our buzz with the fact that there are powerful people behind the real culprits. Talk to us a little more about that. Who are these people? You also spoken about the fact that the leader, there is a leader, a confidant of the leader, and they're also in turns. Who are these people? Well, I can't, I mean, three names are being mentioned in new rooms in Calcutta, but I cannot obviously mention those names because it's an ongoing investigation and it will be responsible of me to mention any name at all, apart from the person who has been arrested by the police. But the facts of the case, including facts of the post-mortem report, as I've emerged in the public domain suggest that this could not have been a crime committed by one person, because, and multiple people were involved or at least more than one person was involved, which sort of is validated by what is being talked about in Calcutta newsroom, that there were three people who are the real culprits, and it is to cover up their roles that all this is being done. Among those three, one is believed to be a close kin of a very powerful individual and the other two are in turn, who are attached to our legal hospital. Now, these are the details that really need to be looked into, although crucial time has passed by, and the CBI, it is expected, will fill up the gap, that there's some very good questions about the crime and the follow-up action. All right, I'm going to thank you, Kanchin Gupta, for joining in. Well, it's now the CBI to really look into this case, given that they are handling this matter now. The probe has now been shifted from the, in fact, the probe now is going to be done by the central Bureau of Investigation, and doctors, in fact, like Mr Gupta also said, have been talking about the fact that there is more than one person behind this crime is what. So, what is the case? Who is to be blamed? Who are involved? How many people are involved? That, that is my very look, all the sentiment apart. We talk about fast-tracking justice, okay, and you may want to fast-track it, but at the end, the people who are going to give the word, if the judges, they need evidence. And that is what Mr Gupta also said when he started, that is what a lot of people have been saying, that when you lose the first 36 to 48 hours, to such carelessness or to cover-ups, however you wish to define it. What probability do you have of catching the culprits? There were also some rumors that the deceased had been cremated by the police, but the Coca-Ta police in its hand clearly said that they had been, that the cremation had been done by the family, and that is what they posted on their official hand lock, which are the Coca-Ta police. They also said that we had not given any information about the deceased committing suicide and things like that. But again, fast-tracking justice, see, Mumtav energy, the day she said that I am giving the police the time until Sunday to celebrate. That is when it sounded fishy, because if you look at the few cases in the park. Can I pay that clip to back you up, that whatever you're saying, so that people know that this is actually, so this is the clip you're talking about. [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] This is not it. This is not it. I have many more things to show today. I'm going to show a lot of things. [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] Basically what she is saying is they are beating her up. beating her up for what? Why are they beating her up? The same reason they are sending people legal notices to pull down tweets. And now I want to talk about the legal notices. Like, oh my god, King Zhang Unon steroids. So they sent a legal notice to Shefali Vedya. So you just [speaking in foreign language] It has been observed that you are using social media for posting offensive, malicious and inciting posts. Cyber police station Kolkata thereby issues notice against you under section 168 DNS's 2023 for posting such message in the Twitter handle, wide URL, bullying the app and having post URL. You are by here being directed to delete the above mentioned post and also refrain from such acts for a failing which you will be liable for strict penal action under relevant provision of law. Bye bye. [speaking in foreign language] One was Sunanda Roy at Saffron Sunanda. She gets this notice again. This handle gets a notice. I mean, I couldn't collate all the notices by King Zhang Unon's army here. And then, oh my god, look at what they did to this girl. They went to her house and threatened her. Look what she had to tweet. I publicly apologize if I have instigated angered misled anyone with information I have shared. It was completely out of sake for justice for a fellow doctor. I was just forwarding the information that was reaching me. This is what King Zhang Un does. [speaking in foreign language] [speaking in foreign language] See, again, [speaking in foreign language] Can I read the whole tweet that she said? This is her tweet. [speaking in foreign language] Couldn't sleep without posting this. My mom got a call from my neighbor, from my hometown, at around 730 p.m. that police uniformed uniformed, sorry, uninformed uniformed. Actually, uniformed. I was searching for my home. They were saying Kolkata police had asked them to summon me about some post and they are searching for my home. They eventually reached my place and my brother and sister-in-law were present. My brother called me and put me on speaker. Did you post about a student of Berdwan University? Yes, I did. Did you verify the credibility of the post? I did see articles of media houses about the same, but I blatantly believed an angle I saw spreading in people's statuses that it was related to the claim, the night protest. I edited it under the post after verification. Please delete the post and don't further post information without verifying and report to the town Tana tomorrow. My brother apologized with his hands joined. She just deeply affected with things going on in her fraternity, please forgive her. Ask her sister to not act so smart. Her career can be ruined over it. There was no notice summon. My mother was sobbing and calling every person she knows to handle the situation she was helpless. My brother was ashamed to his core as the neighbours were asking why police was inquiring for me. I had always been this quiet introverted child who kept all my life. This was shocking for them. This is what Kolkata police is doing. This is what they are doing. What the hell man? You know, again, I am saying the same thing. What is month of energy's objective? The crime happened in her state. In short, there is proper investigation. The culprit supports speedy justice. That is what everyone wants. Your Kolkata police is reaching out to a court, tweeting a journalist. No, this is intact. That is intact. My question is where are the priorities of the state government? It is very unclear. Just before we started this, West Bengal police posted from their handle, not Kolkata police, West Bengal police, about a women officer who was injured on the night to 14th when stones were pelted. They say she was hit by a brick and if posted a photo also. So they indirectly hinted that, you know, is this not something we need to think about in the sense that, you know, you are working for justice and reclaiming the street. Should you be reclaiming the street for this female officer also who has been injured? My question is, as much as we are praying for her quick recovery, the officer's recovery. You are the state police for the love of God. You should know what the mob is carrying, where the mob is coming from. What is the magnitude of injury they can pause, damage they can pause, asking they can pause, and you are going on Twitter, making a very, you know, you're sort of becoming a victim yourself. Again, I'm saying we have, we really pray that the injured officer gets well again. But if the chief minister is going to get on the street saying, I am going to blame the CPIM or the BJP for the unrest, or the police is going to say, oh, we are also victims, then where is the accountability? This is the one you're talking about. Let me share the entire thread with you. This is the one you're talking about. Yes, yes, yes, just posted tonight. First of all, Champa Pramanik of the Vidanagar police commiserate was in Bhagavati on the night of August 15th, ensuring the safety of those several bricks came. And I condemn this. Nobody wants this to happen. I feel bad for this female police officer. But the point is, what the hell has the one got to do with the other? What the hell are you doing as police? Where is your intelligence? Where is your system? You know, it's a sensitive situation. You know, it's a politically sensitive situation. There is a mob on the run. They get bricks and you don't know they're coming with bricks, because totally officers do not have the required gear. They're biting, can't carry. And did you keep all of the brochures to eat? Mava Pramanik, excuse us, the BJP and CPIMM erasing evidence from the Arjika hospital. I mean, come on, man. Come on. This is one thing I have to give it to the Chief Minister. She's very consistent. I posted a video on 14th evening. You know, people who are new to all this probably don't remember how things were back in 2012, 2011, especially in the media circuit. Today, you see a lot of right voices on TV. 12 years ago, this was impossible. 12 years ago, the entire television media circuit in India was hijacked by the left by the voices of the left. All your commentators, guests panelists, Kojibita left Kota and mind you, this was much way before social media really took off. And at that time, Sabrika Ghosh interviewed Manta Banerjee and a young girl who said she was from Presidency College named two TMC viewers and she said that conduct has really left a bad taste in her mouth. Why the hammering she got from the Chief Minister? You are moist candidate. You are CPI. You are this. You are that. And I'm in the beginning. And if you look at the complete video, I posted it. The girl is actually smiling. She thinks probably the Chief Minister is just sort of, you know, pintering or sort of taunting her. But then she realizes, no, she's serious. She's angry. And she didn't throws off the mic. No, no, no. And Sabrika Ghosh there is trying to calm her down. And you know, these are just university students. No, you. I'll play the video. I'll play the video. I think the kids of this country deserve to know that. They won't go. They won't. But if you have a video about that, I'll tell them about Chokele. If you're both sorry, young, but she's good. They may not know how many mouths and the sister's talents of this country work. So they call. They call. My question is that, do you think how these recent women cases are being crying? Cases are being dealt with? Is it a dealt in a right way? There's another question on the same topic from Tanya Mahaldoaj. Can we get that one? I'm from Presency College and you just talk about boons and how you don't support them. Well, ma'am, the conduct of certain people like Mr. Modern Mitra and Oraboo Litzla. They have left a bad taste in the mouth for most of us. It has disturbed us and people in power should be asking in a more responsible way, ma'am. I must tell you, you are a CPM cadet. This team, you only 50 percents, yes. Out of 50 percents, you tell me who are asking the question. There are so many things. No, no, there are so many things. These are the key issues. Keep them in mouth. They are working together. They are the one coming together. I am telling you. We have left for cattle. This is wrong. I am not. I cannot try the CPM question. They are the boy's children. I can, even you can ask all the details. I am sure, they are asking the mouse question and the CPM question. They are the CPM cadet. I am not going to get any reply, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. That girl, sorry to say, you belong to CPM, you mean anything. SFI cadet, you are SFI cadet. You are SFI cadet. You are university students. So what? You know, I think there are so many universities. They are collected, only selected. They are selected only for mouse organizations. No, I am sorry. I will get it. I will get it. Okay. No, I am not. Okay. I am not. Okay. This is the difference. No, no, no. No, I think I did. Let us assume this card or the question was asked by a mouse. Let us directly assume this was a mouse. Does the question and the validity of the question change? Absolutely not. Absolutely not. Let us assume that what a manta of energy about evidence being tampered with is right. Let us go a step further. Whose responsibility is to ensure that the crime scene is secure? Whose government? Make a thought subcouble in crypto. You blame everyone under this shining stance. At the end, the buck stops at you in West Bengal. Your policy saying we are helpless. Your policy saying help us snap the culprits when Dalshin might listen fair enough. At least they are taking some action. Last I checked they had arrested 90 not people. But if you are going to get on the road doing rallies. Then why are you the chief minister? It's the same logic we applying daily also. That if you are going to blame the center for everything or beg the center for everything, might as well resign. Yeah. Then let, let, let, let 356 be taken over. Here is the chief minister of Bengal protesting about a rape when law and order is a state subject. What is she doing here? Like what is this? She is asking for capital punishment. Listen, she is the freaking chief minister of the damn state. What is, what is this? Are we a banana republic? This is exactly the problem. Everything gets thrown onto the center. Nobody understands distribution of powers in India. God, I am so sick and tired of stupidity in Indian discourse. No, before elections. Before elections it was all about federalism, federalism of the federalism. I mean what the hell man? Oh, I want the center to solve this case by Sunday. How? What is this? Like what is she doing? This is so stupid. Reminds me of another CM who first bankrupted the state using freebies and then was protesting in Delhi saying that was the center not giving us any money more than what we deserve. So it's again the same formula. This is probably just right out from the KGB playbook of politics because perception works. People like you and me, the lesser mortals, we keep talking about distribution of powers, accountability, institutions, people out there just go by perception. And I'll tell you why these people get aided and abetted and why they remain emboldened is because of the third-rated journalists like this. Is this you? Oh, my God. But have you done? Okay. There was another fellow. He also keeps sort of right for the Congress and he was like, oh, no, no, no, I've just got to know that. I'm not going to say that. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. You know, I'm just trying to recall the night of the post poll violence. The day election results came out in 2021. Does anyone remember how it was downplayed? Can I say something very, I'm just trying to find to eat from Mahamutra from that night, where she, you know, sort of dismissed the entire violence. Yeah. In the meantime, I mean, I think this photo is the perfect meme for Kolkata police. What is it? I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. What is your problem? You worried that, you know, discussion, see, I found this tweet from Mahamutra who had, I'm just sending it to you. Give me a minute. And this was one fourth of me for context. The results came out in second May because she has blocked me. So I have to sort of dodge handles and you're going to find it. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to tell you one thing. The outrage in this country is also selective. I saw on Instagram, many people pouring their hearts. Of course, they are impacted. They are affected. Not to discredit their sentiments in any way. 2021, all this was happening. There was an NHRC report of 50 pages which no one ever read. No one ever cared to read that report. It said a lot of important things. No one cared. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. I'm going to say that the government is going to be a good person. People who are outpouring the sentiments on Instagram, good you are, make yourself heard. But then hear everything that goes on in these states. Yeah. And you know, here is this guy. What is his name? Nilanjan Das, the state general security IT and social media wing, all in death, minimal Congress. This is what he tweeted below Shefali Vaidya Street. Oh my goodness. Seriously. I'm going to show you this. But look, another day in the mini Mao mindset. You know, there's a lot of talk about the seven volunteer. So I'll read it from page 30. Yeah. Nilanjan Das, Licta. Great job. DC cyber KP. Ensure this cyber criminal faces consequence and never sets foot in West Bengal. Also request Xcorp India to suspend this handle permanently to further prevent harm. What did, what did Shefali Vaidya do? She literally shared videos that she found on social media. That's all she did. That are publicly verifiable. This is exactly what these people do. And at one point, there was this socket go clear remembering 21. So it was in Malta. Manta Banerjee should sort of aim to be the Prime Minister of India. Yeah. So that the whole country becomes King John Moon. And one thing I want to say, probably not the right time for it. But 20 or 30 seats here and there. Manta Banerjee could well have been one of your key four ministers. People should remember that. Yeah. Imagine Manta Banerjee being the home minister. This is the hell that is going to be unleashed on you. Manta Jangakaneda. Tom Hari Tukkegi. I remember when the Arvind Kajirival was in Lucknow meeting Akhilesh Aadiv. I can understand what a female goes through every time when they step on a public transportation or go on a street where they feel like they are in a war zone. Right now in this live stream I'm sure there are many women. Women type in the live stream and explain to men how you feel. Obviously no reasonable woman thinks all men are like that. But do not reduce the entire discussion to this trauma. Please don't. We do have a problem in our culture. We should own up to those problems in our culture. We should solve those problems in our culture. No culture is perfect and ours certainly isn't. So please we should not be so sensitive to these things. Try and understand. So I'm just posting some news for you because people should be. Another favorite article, Daldia. This is Dambas. I'm pardon the Lord but he's a Dambas. Sorry. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Shivam Vij, India needs to abolish death penalty and not hang 2012 Delhi gang rips. Hi, hi, hi, hi, hi, hi. I am very shivam. I am very shivam. (speaking in foreign language) - And this is newspapers across political spectrums. I wanted to post this, and for you to post this, because I believe the emotions are running high. People on Instagram and all are posting. Eventually people forget, but this is what the aftermath is. This is what- (speaking in foreign language) - The real reason why Rippish should not be hanged by Sanj you raw, oh my fricking lord, seriously. - And this is, I'm assuming a woman, I don't know. And the last one you should definitely put. - Oh my god. - The last one. - Wait a minute, the real reason why Rippish should never be. - Okay, hold on, then I might have not here, take a second. Because of the obnoxious headline, which this one has. No, people, you talk about reforming the systems, you're talking about this fascist punishment. And the system also awarded that in the 2012 case. See the kind of commentary that followed. - Oh wow, that's penalty. Isn't nothing more than political execution. Nirvaya isn't different. - I do not question the right of people to bullshit on digital media. But I do question their integrity, their commitment towards women's safety. - No, they're moral fiber. - They're moral fiber. - They're morality, absolutely. How is fucking, that's intense political execution. How, this woman who was butchered, we don't know how many number of people, she's not a political worker. For all we know, she must have been a strong supporter of the ruling party. Even if she wasn't, even she was politically oblivious, neutral, whatever. How is having dead sentence for her criminals, political execution? See, I'm a very, very calm person, or that's what I'm told. But things like this, this bullshit, this really riles me up. Because Abhika Ogana Kushal Hamdou, (speaking in foreign language) That's why you played out that in that jersey. People move on, and it's natural. But then they don't realize the aftermath of this. - People move on because they are much more, (speaking in foreign language) They're outraged, categorize this man. - Exactly, (speaking in foreign language) - Our opinion pieces, Jotan, are very slyly written at the behest of some stupid lobbies. They missed the public eye, and that is why they need to be put out again today. So when you're saying how she's sentenced, remember the people like this also, that's all. Including women. - Yeah, a question on Article 356, (speaking in foreign language) Okay, somebody has said, we need to prevent rape from happening, deterrence through fear of law doesn't work. We require a cultural and social change. We need serious sociological and physiological research to understand how to make that happen. I agree, I'm 100% with you on this. We do need more research in India. The sociological factors behind the rape, like small, small things like you should never take the name of the person who is being a victim of the rape case. We should never, that's why I did not mention it. We have to be sensitive to small, small details. Like I try to never eulogize a terrorist, because what they say is when you give a terrorist what they want by sharing their name, they actually create copycats and there is enough replicable social science data. And I did not know about this. And then I realized that. So there's a lot of these things that can be done. - I mean, it's just, well, I just want to talk about it. (speaking in foreign language) You think people are meeked about men versus women. People are angry. Look, we just showed you a few articles where there's a woman who's advocating against it sentence. We showed you an article where a man is advocating against. It's not men versus women. It's men and women versus some horrendous elements of the society. But yes, there are people who are expressing their anger. It's crucial really point out how girls really feel. And we must not discard that sentiment because it's unfortunate. But events like these really prompt them to voice their fears and so on. So I think we must hear all of them. And people understand in the long run, it's not about men versus women. I think both the genders are fighting the same fight against the aesthetic elements. - But I really, I really recommend everybody, okay? I never plug my own podcast. I try not to, but I want all of you to go. And this is an old discussion. This is almost a year ago. I had done this podcast, okay? I'm gonna share this link with all of you so that you guys understand what an average woman goes through in India. Please, this is going to be a different podcast. In fact, I'm going to plug this in the end also. This was a year ago and each and every woman had hidden her face. They had not revealed their identity. And they were sharing absolute horror stories. Horror stories. So please do not say not all men. If nobody's saying all men, but the point is that by pointing out a sink, a deep flaw inside our society does not insult you. You have problems, ladies and gentlemen, men in India have a problem. I don't take it personally. I was the first one who gave all these women a platform. Listen to them. We had left-leaning women, non-left-leaning women, all of them coming together and sharing this point of view. Please don't reduce this. I don't care if you like mom-tob energy, you dislike mom-tob energy. We can discuss the politics of how mom-tob energy has pigeon-holed this. And yes, one last question before we. How to bring the focus back on mom-tob energy? Because she has conveniently changed it around. That is why we are speaking right now. That is the whole point. Go back, read the instances, read about what happened in 2021. This is, you might want to make it a national issue. People have made it a national issue. But there is a history of women violence in Bengal, but you cannot discard before mom-taste with it, right? It's not like those are the. Deeply problematic political, political violence. Please understand the new studio simplified for you. It's not like Gushal and I disagree on politics, but it's not like political violence. That is not political violence, it's far more heinous than that. And unfortunate truth, true truth, women are the collateral damage. Very conveniently. Absolutely. Absolutely. So please read up. What is normalized for you by people? This honest media person's ego for a Rajasabha seat in this studio is not the reality. The focus has to be on mom-taste. And, you know, one columnist on first post, Shramoi, he pointed this out very correctly. And it gradually had to agree with him that, you know, mom-taste is going on the street. Whatever we, you and I or people on social media, may comment. Her mass connect, the population she's appealing to, will be convinced, oh, yeah, she is the victim of the system. And that is why I am saying she starts with a 40% vote. She just has to convince 5% more people, that, yes, I am the victim of the system. A system she has sort of created in Bengal. And the BJP, for all the persons it gets, it has to start from zero, because somewhere the awakening needs to come from the people of Bengal as well. If they are oblivious to the reality around them, trust me, no force in the world can move them. That is what I had also written in another tweet, which I was replying to the same individual who had said that, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] neighborhood, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] You won't prime minister to step into Bengal tomorrow. He will, 356. He'll be happy to use that too. Let's talk. Question has, you know, ability to do it. He's destroyed the entire lobby in Kashmir in one year. But the problem is people of Bengal, the same people for who he's taking a stand, where tomorrow say, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] 250 seats. That's the reality, I'm sorry. I can't sugarcoat it for you in any way you like. And 30 seats here and there. A chief minister today would have been the possible home minister. [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] BJP is not about Hinduism and all those fancy things, the same conferences for the 30 second frame. People don't realize-- I don't know, probably we both are stupid. [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] I've stopped apologizing for this. [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] Speaking to a friend, I was speaking to a friend since she brought to Canada, just moved there, and she's a Sikh. She's someone I've known for almost 15 years now. But she told me that me and my husband have moved to a very quieter town for one simple reason, because every time we are in the city, and in the city where there are maximum number of people, we don't want to be sort of stormed with this whole separatist agenda. [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] You have a brute majority. Let's not forget she has a brute majority, a respectable majority. She won in 2021 in the West Bengal State Assembly. She is not running a minority government. She is not running a coalition government. If anyone has to fix the system, she has to do it. If her police is under attack, her police has to only find out who is the one who is planning this attack. Modi won't shower because this is not how distribution of cars in India works. And if you want 356 or the same, there's a statement, then let's talk about administrative bifurcation of Bengal also, because clearly the state assembly is unable to do what it's supposed to do. [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] Yeah. The rest of the questions were more comments, like, I would recommend all of you a lot of solutions about tackling about this male gaze and safety of women and many other things. I've actually been discussed in the podcast I spoke about title predators amongst us. And nobody is saying all men are like that, but I would recommend all of you to go and watch that. But before we go, I would like to leave first I'll go to Tushar if he has anything else to say. And then I will say a few words and we'll wrap it up. So Tushar, first to you. It's hard to, you know, first in 20, 30 seats. This was your home minister. Number two, any chief minister who plays the victim of the system with a brute majority, beaten, Delhi or Bengal, they're just trying to fool you. They're just trying to take attention away from their credibility, their accountability. Do not buy that. Number three, the objective of the people of this country and manta of energy should be the same. Swift interrogation, swift justice, punishment for culprits, deterrence for the future. Somehow this is not aligning today. We don't know why. She's out there on the streets saying that the people must be hanged by 25th of August. But we all know what happened in the early years. We've seen enough cliffs, enough media reports, right? And number four, lastly, my only very pain anxiety is that my fear is rather, we may never know the entire list of complaints. That's my fear. I hope that's sort of not the truth. Yeah. [INAUDIBLE] Bus, I want to say this, when it comes to the question of misogyny, women's safety in India, individual politicians aside, I have no shame in saying this, all political parties are guilty, equally, all of them. This is a culture that supports and promotes bullshit. I know Vinish Fogurt's case was right now being politicized because there is elections in Haryana. I was one of the rare people who stood up for the wrestlers at that time. And I said, listen, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] Obviously, nothing can compare the level of political violence that is unleashed in Bihar and Bengal. That is just, I think, barbarism of next level. And listen, ladies and gentlemen, civilized behavior is not something you're born with. It's an acquired habit. You have to learn how to be civilized. You have to learn how to behave yourself. The tragedy of India is everything boils down to [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] And now my last message, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] Today's podcast is going to be no plug to follow me to follow Tushar. Today's podcast is dedicated. And this Shairi is dedicated to West Bengal police. [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] And that's it. [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] Take care.
