NBC News Radio. I'm Lisa Carton. The stage is set for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. President Biden will make his case for Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place when he delivers Monday's keynote speech, along with touting his administration's accomplishments. Biden is expected to urge delegates and voters watching across the country to elect Harris to succeed him. Former President Trump will speak today at a rally in northeastern Pennsylvania, security for the event. And Mohegan Arena is a joint operation involving the Wilkes Bear Township Police, Pennsylvania State Police, and of course, the Secret Service. President Biden says he's optimistic a ceasefire deal can be reached in Gaza. Biden told reporters in the Oval Office his administration is closer than it's ever been to striking a deal. I don't want to jinx anything, but we may have something, but we're not there yet. Lisa Carton, NBC News Radio.
