Nicholas Maduro has been officially declared the winner in Venezuela's tumultuous and disputed presidential election. Daily Wire reporter Amanda Prestajakimo has the latest. Despite significant momentum from the opposition and various voting irregularities, election authorities in the country claimed that Maduro secured around 51% of the vote, an opposition candidate at Mundo Gonzalez received 44%, and that's only with 80% of the vote counted. Many leaders in the opposition have questioned the vote. They've cited voter intimidation, refusal to release verification printouts, and independent exit polling that reflects much more enthusiasm for the opposition party. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed the following to reporters this morning. We have serious concerns that the result announced does not reflect the will or the votes of the Venezuelan people. It's critical that every vote be counted fairly and transparently, that election officials immediately share information with the opposition and independent observers without delay, and that the electoral authorities publish the detailed tabulation of votes. The international community is watching this very closely and will respond accordingly. In a televised speech, Maduro declared his victory a triumph of peace and he denied allegations of fraud. Tensions remain high as the nation grapples with the uncertainty of the election outcome. The United Kingdom's highest court has upheld the government's emergency ban on puberty blockers for kids to address gender dysphoria. Judge Beverly Lang ruled that the use of blockers for such a purpose is supported by, quote, "remarkably weak evidence." The ruling was influenced by the CAS report, which reviewed existing evidence on the safety and efficacy of puberty blockers. It also follows the NHS decision to permanently ban blockers this past spring. New Labour Health Secretary West Streating responded to the ruling by announcing plans for clinical trials of puberty blockers while asserting the need for evidence-based health care. Text messages have surfaced showing that Secret Service agents identified the would-be assassin of former President Donald Trump, 90 minutes before shots were fired. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the latest. Law enforcement spotted the 20-year-old shooter while he was using a range finder, but did not approach him. At 4.36 PM, officers warned colleagues about a suspicious person parked nearby. A Secret Service counter sniper killed Crooks at 6.11 PM, but not before Crooks had injured former President Trump and shot three rallygoers, one fatally. Local SWAT team members who spoke to ABC saw the shooter and reported him to other local law enforcement. But the Secret Service says it never received information about any suspicious characters. The SWAT team members say there was a lack of communication. We were supposed to get a face-to-face briefing with the Secret Service snipers whenever they arrived, and that never happened. So I think that that was probably a pivotal point where I started thinking things were wrong, because that never happened, and we had no communication with the Secret Service. You had no communication with the Secret Service at all on that Saturday. No, not until after the shooting, I believe. Yeah. And by then? It was too late. The FBI also said today that President Trump will sit for a victim interview regarding its investigation. This episode is brought to you by Black Rifle Coffee. Three suspected Palestinian terrorists were reportedly caught at the southern border earlier this month. According to the New York Post, the three Palestinians, along with one migrant from Turkey, were detained in California after agents found ties to terrorist organizations in, quote, "salacious photos." A border agent told the New York Post that border patrol does not have access to international criminal databases and therefore probably let terrorists in the country. Pollution in the River Sen has delayed Olympic events scheduled to take place there. Heavy rain fall over the weekend caused a spike in bacteria to unsafe levels, leading Olympic officials to cancel the triathlon training session scheduled for today. The triathlon itself is slated to take place tomorrow. The Paris Olympics president said the event could be postponed if the river is still unsafe before the event. He also suggested dropping the swimming portion of the triathlon, calling it a biathlon, though not an official summer Olympic event. But Paris Olympic CEO Etienne Togois believes the river events will continue as scheduled. We're still optimistic that we can hold the competition within the Sun River. We have contingency plan, so we hope that tomorrow morning when they'll welcome, they'll be able to participate. And a California emergency responder named Trevor Skaggs is credited with rescuing two dogs and a litter of puppies trapped in the park fire in Northern California on Sunday. The fire started on July 24th and has forced thousands to evacuate. Amid the frantic evacuation, one resident was forced to leave the dogs in a truck in an area that was quickly blocked off due to the fires, but was able to notify rescuers of the truck's location. Skaggs traveled via helicopter and ran an additional mile and a half to rescue the animals. Those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
