Former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president. The Obamas waited to voice their support until Harris had locked up the nomination. Here's a bit of that phone call. We call to say Michelle and I couldn't be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office. I can't have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala, I am proud of you. This is going to be historic. Barson struck three high-speed rails into Paris today just hours before the Olympics opening ceremony. Authorities say it was a coordinated and criminal attack. Numerous trains were canceled on Friday morning and the railway company SNCF urged travelers to delay their plans. The fire started in towns nearly 100 miles outside of Paris and were set in the pipes that hold cables and are used for signaling. That's according to the SNCF chief executive. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. The fires have disrupted travel for nearly 1 million people hoping to enjoy the games and possibly even some of the competing athletes. Former President Donald Trump blasted FBI Director Christopher Ray for his testimony to Congress this week. During one exchange, Ray said he wasn't sure if it was a bullet that hit Trump during the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Notably, the hospital that treated Trump said it was a bullet wound. Ray also testified that he did not notice a cognitive decline in President Biden. Trump called on Ray to resign now for losing the trust of the American people. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is struggling to get on the ballot in November. Here with more is Daily Wire senior editor, Cabot Phillips. As an independent candidate, Kennedy has to petition for ballot access in all 50 states. So far, he's confirmed a spot on the ballot in 10 states and is working on over a dozen more. However, he has faced significant challenges from Democrats in many states, most recently Texas. John Mott, for example, detects as Democratic Party's voter protection director, has urged the Secretary of State to reject Kennedy's application, claiming that many of his petition signatures were invalid. The Democratic National Committee also launched a team to counter third-party candidates earlier this year, seemingly viewing Kennedy's campaign as a threat. At the moment, he's polling around 7% nationally. This episode is brought to you by Birch Gold Group. The Senate is planning to vote on legislation requiring tech companies to mitigate harmful content aimed at children. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said earlier this week that he hopes to pass the Kids Online Safety Act before Congress leaves for its August recess. The bill seeks to rid certain platforms of content like cyberbullying, suicidal promotion, substance abuse, sexual exploitation, as well as advertisements for harmful products. The bill has stalled as opponents feared it would reduce kids' access to LGBT content. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Marcia Blackburn, who co-authored the bill, held a press conference about it yesterday. "We've seen from their own documents, their own files, their own evidence that their business model is to get more eyeballs for longer periods of time so they get more advertisers and more dollars knowing that those profits are derived from destroying lives of your children." The last bill aimed at protecting children on the internet was passed in 1998. Former President Donald Trump is gaining support from an unlikely group of voters. Daily Wire senior editor Joel Needler has the details. Fans of cryptocurrency have started putting their support behind Trump in a very fitting way by donating to his campaign using the currency. In May, Trump became the first major party presidential candidate to accept crypto donations and has since brought in over $4 million in digital currencies. The former president had once dismissed cryptocurrency as "based on thin air," but he has since voiced support for it, suggesting he would oppose crypto regulations and even launching his own non-fungible tokens or NFTs. Trump will be a keynote speaker at the 2024 Bitcoin Conference in Nashville this weekend, with other prominent figures including Vice President Kamala Harris and ex-owner Elon Musk. Gina Carano's wrongful termination suit against Disney will continue after a judge ruled against Disney's motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Carano filed the lawsuit after being fired from the Mandalorian when she posted a screenshot of another social media post drawing parallels between the current heated political climate and Nazi Germany. Carano got financial assistance for her lawsuit from Tesla CEO Elon Musk. And New York City officials will begin testing gun-detecting scanners in its subways. Daily wire contributor Matt Sinowski has more. The scanners are similar to the metal detectors you might find at a concert or a ball game, and will be tested around the subway system for one month. Critics have argued that the technology will slow down commutes and is just too expensive. Leasing a single unit can cost over $30,000 a year, which is three times the cost of buying a conventional metal detector outright. Evolved, the company behind the scanners was named in a lawsuit earlier this year over claims that the machines don't work. This year, Mayor Eric Adams has deployed an extra 1,800 police officers and 1,000 National Guardsmen to protect the city's subways. Those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
