(upbeat music) As Democrat voices calling for the president to step down grow louder, new polling shows him losing his grip on key states. And at this point with the amount of change we've seen with the presidential contest, certainly the debate had an effect. Which states are in play and how do voters feel about the potential Biden replacements? I'm Daily Wire editor-in-chief, John Bickley. It's Wednesday, July 3rd, and this is Morning Wire. (upbeat music) - Biden and the Democrats are roughed over the landmark ruling on presidential immunity while Republicans say they're deliberately distorting what the court actually ruled. - No one believes the claims left are making about this particular case. So why are they doing this? The answer is because Joe Biden is a failed candidate. - And the World Economic Forum, often the target of conservative ire, is now being hit with claims of a toxic work environment from the left. Thanks for waking up with Morning Wire, stay tuned. We have the news you need to know. - Have you ever heard of a data broker? Here to discuss the latest numbers and this historic intra-party struggle is Daily Wire senior editor, Cabot Phillips. Hey, Cabot, so some highly anticipated polls are finally trickling in and turning heads here. What are we saying? Yeah, a lot of folks in Washington had been eagerly awaiting these numbers to see just how big of an impact Thursday's debate had with voters. And the initial results will do little to alleviate calls for Biden to step down. On Tuesday, CNN released their first post-debate poll. It had Trump with a solid six-point lead. He also leads there among independents by an even larger 10-point margin. At the same time, they not only found President Biden's approval rating at just 36% of the lowest on record, but that 56% of Democrats say their party has a better chance if he steps down. Finally, CNN found a wide enthusiasm gap between the two parties. While 66% of Trump voters said they were voting for him and not just against Biden, only 37% of Biden voters said the same of their men. So the vast majority of Biden voters are not necessarily Biden supporters as much as they are Trump opponents. Yeah, and those findings are really just the tip of the iceberg, correct? Right, it gets a lot worse. We saw an even more dramatic shift in the latest Harvard Harris poll, which now has Trump ahead by a whopping eight points nationally. And if you dig into the numbers, it paints yet another grim picture for Biden. First, it found that 74% of voters say he's too old to be president. It also showed that more Americans than ever strongly disapprove of the job he's doing. By contrast, it found that 52% of Americans approve of the job Trump did when he was in office. And for Democrats hoping the debate was going to fly under the radar, more bad news. Nine in 10 Americans say they either watch the debate live, saw clips online, or followed the commentary afterwards. And for those who did watch in some form, voters were nearly twice as likely to report saying it made them more likely to vote Trump compared to Biden. So again, we talked all last month about just how impactful this debate could be. We're now seeing the results. Truly historic. So nationally, Trump appears to be pulling away, but what about in those key battleground states? Well, remember, coming into this debate, Trump was already leading in every single battleground. And if the early numbers we're seeing are any indication he's about to grow his lead even further. A new signal poll in Pennsylvania, for example, now has him up four, while an epic MRA poll has him leading by four in Michigan as well. And here's another thing that really had folks talking. According to internal polling on the left, those numbers are actually even worse. On Tuesday, Puck News obtained a confidential internal memo from Open Labs. That's a progressive polling firm used by Democrat campaigns. Their numbers show Biden trailing by seven points in Michigan to Pennsylvania, nine points in Nevada, and 10 points in Georgia and Arizona. And get this, they even now have Trump within one point in Virginia, New Mexico, Maine, and Minnesota. They even have him within two points in Colorado, state Biden won by 13 points last month. So if that polling's correct, we could be looking at a whole new set of battleground states. It would be unprecedented. Now, what do the numbers say about a potential replacement for Biden? So the CNN poll also did include results for hypothetical match ups between Trump and a slew of other top Democrats. And the results were a mixed back. Kamala Harris, who many considered to be the most likely replacement if Biden bows out, fared the best in a head-to-head with Trump. She trails by two points nationally. But it's worth noting. She's also one of the only nationwide figures with the favorability rating lower than Biden himself. CNN found just 29% of Americans view her favorably. So the big question for Democrats would be whether those numbers would improve as voters learned more about her. Other hypothetical candidates, including Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg, and Gretchen Whitmer, all trail Trump by four to five points. So Democrats between a rock and a hard place here. Cabot, thanks for reporting. Anytime. There's been a swift and extreme backlash from Democrats to the Supreme Court's ruling in Trump's immunity case that found that presidents are fully protected from prosecution for their core official acts in office, but not necessarily for acts that fall outside that category. Here to discuss the controversy and why conservatives say the left is openly misrepresenting the decision as Daily Wire contributor David Marcus Hadev. So as we noted yesterday, this ruling raised so much ire that we saw a rare primetime speech from Joe Biden denouncing it on Monday. His claims have since been echoed by other Democrats. So let's start with him. How did he frame this? - Morning, John. The crux of the criticism from Biden and others is that the decision leaves the president unchecked and unaccountable if they engage in criminal action. Here's some of what he had to say about that on Monday night in that very brief address. - This nation was founded on the principle that there are no kings in America. Each, each of us is equal before the law. No one, no one is above the law. - The president also used his remarks as a chance to reiterate his claims that Trump fomented an insurrection on January 6th and that the Supreme Court decision would embolden Trump in a potential second term to commit even more egregious actions. This is obviously very much in keeping with the central theme of the Biden campaign from the beginning, which is that Trump represents some grave existential threat to democracy even though his first term was, well, pretty fascism-free. - Right. We also saw Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez weigh in with a radical plan to push back against what she sees as a rogue court. What does AOC have in mind here? - Ocasio-Cortez says that she's prepared to bring forward articles of impeachment when Congress returns to work next week. It's unclear which justices she intends to target with this, presumably the six who voted in favor of partial presidential immunity. Now, of course, the Republicans control the House, so nobody's actually going to be impeached, but it highlights how Democrats will use this decision in the constant drumming of supposed threats to democracy. But John, it's worth remembering that it was the Democrats who objected to Republicans impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for what they said were policy differences rather than misconduct. AOC isn't alleging any crime or misdemeanors. She just thinks the decision is dangerous. - Now, on the other side, conservatives have been pushing back in defense of the court, pointing to the actual ruling to make the case that the left is intentionally misrepresenting it. What do they say the court's critics are missing? - Yeah, the main thrust of their argument here is that the court only gave absolute immunity to core acts of presidential duties. The ruling clearly spells out that a president only has presumptive immunity for other acts that are not specifically connected to his core duties and no immunity for private acts. They also note that there are checks on presidential power other than post-presidency prosecution, such as impeachment by Congress, the 25th Amendment, and ultimately the final judgment of elections. They also point to a pattern of Democrats attempting to tear down the court because it's not ruling in their favor enough. As Daily Wires Ben Shapiro put it, "This is yet another assault on an American institution meant to expand leftist power." - He's attacking the Supreme Court and saying it's illegitimate fundamentally that they've undermined the constitutional order that they reappointed a king. Don't worry, my opponent is the fascist, which is why you need to elect me. Good luck with this particular argument. - The bottom line is that the Constitution gives presidents enormous individual power, arguably more power than any fairly elected leader on Earth and for good reason. And what the court was trying to do here was to make sure that power is not compromised by threats of prosecution once a president leaves office. All in all, another legal win for Trump, which is becoming a common refrain these days. - I feel like I've heard that phrase before. Dave, thanks for joining us. - Thanks for having me. (upbeat music) - The World Economic Forum has frequently faced criticism from conservatives over its progressive politics, but now the organization is under fire from the left with allegations that it has a toxic work environment. Daily Wires culture reporter Megan Basham is here now with the details. So Megan, what exactly are Klaus Schwab and other WEF leaders being accused of here? - So this is coming from an exclusive new report in the Wall Street Journal. The reporters there say that they interviewed more than 80 current and former WEF employees and also reviewed internal emails and complaint records. So really just a host of allegations contributed to this claim of a toxic workplace. One of those claims is ageism. So the journal reports that a few years ago, founder Klaus Schwab was worried that the image of his organization was too old. So he ordered his executives to fire a group of employees over 50 so that they could then be replaced with younger hires. Sources also said that he has a history of discriminating against women, including firing one staffer after she got pregnant. Even though just before that, she was tapped to lead a new initiative. And that goes along with at least six other women who said that their careers were derailed at the forum because of pregnancy. Now, black employees registered formal complaints about white managers using the N-word around them. And they claim that they were also passed over for promotions. And then their sexual harassment. So a number of employees said that Schwab regularly made inappropriate comments about the appearance of women's staffers. One employee based in Geneva said Schwab, and I'm gonna quote here, "Once propped his leg up on her desk with his crotch in front of her face and told her he wished she was Hawaiian because he'd like to see her in a Hawaiian costume." So all in all, the journals report alleges that the forum has allowed quoting an atmosphere hostile to women and black people to fester. - Wow, now given the position they've taken to supposedly push for female and minority advancement in the workplace, I'd imagine a lot of people are accusing the organization of hypocrisy right now. - Oh, definitely, especially given that the forum publishes an annual global gender gap report. And it's all about how various nations are doing when it comes to issues like gender parity. And then also in light of the fact that in 2018 at the height of the Me Too movement, the WEF made a pretty big show at Davos that year of speaking out against gender inequality in business and government, and a number of speakers addressed sexual harassment in the workplace. This for instance was what Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said. - Me Too, times up the women's march. These movements tell us that we need to have a critical discussion on women's rights, equality, and the power dynamics of gender. Sexual harassment is a systemic problem, and it is unacceptable. - The forum also made a number of symbolic changes six years ago during that Me Too moment. Things like renaming a space that was once called the girls lounge to the equality lounge. So that kind of thing is causing a lot of critics to say that this may all have simply been virtue signaling or window dressing. - Right, so how is the WEF responding to all this? - Well, as you might expect, they're denying it, but there is a little bit of intrigue around that as well. So back in late May, as journal reporters were working on this story, they put in a request to interview Schwab about all of these allegations. Now, he declined to give the interview, but he did send a letter to the journal's publisher and editor-in-chief expressing his concerns about the story. And just after that, he announced in a memo to staff that he would be stepping down as executive chairman. And in the meantime, forum representatives did provide the journal some written responses, saying that the reporting mischaracterizes the organization's culture. They said the forum investigated every instance of alleged racial discrimination, and that they acted appropriately. And they also characterized these allegations of pregnancy discrimination as basically disgruntled ex-employees. They said that over a period of eight years, at least 150 women came back from maternity leave to the same or even better jobs. - Well, it sounds like the journal did some deep reporting here. So we'll see if there's any further fall out from this. Megan, thanks for reporting. - Anytime. - Thanks for waking up with us.
