Listen back to Paul Cooney, Barry Ferguson and Andy Walker as they talk all things Scottish Football.

This is the Goradio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get your podcast call. Oh wait. Oh wait. It's 17, 17, 700 All the weekend is here. This is Paul Cooney with Andy Walker and Barry Ferguson Premier Sports Cup the League Cup this weekend and it's really massive at this stage last season defending holders Celtic went out Surely that's not going to happen this weekend Celtic riding the crest of a wave with the money Coming in in huge Volumes, Celtic fans want to know how much they're going to spend so the spent eight and a half million to nine and a half million For Adam Ida, we're here from the former knowledge striker I'm here from his manager about his arrival and Brendan Rogers Expects more signings in the coming weeks and he says it doesn't depend on Matt O'Reilly going Of course Celtic awash with money it ranges We know the situation going out the other night from the Champions League So that was plan a to maybe get even four and a half to five million pounds And if they could have won next week in the week after it could have been thirty five forty million But it's not to be and Philip Clemond has said again today Rangers will have to sign players after they get rid of a few of them We know there are too many on the wage bill Barry a redger call on this morning and I'm going to start with you in the record You said there was plenty that's gone as Rangers out his plan be now. What does plan be look like? No plan B is obviously, you know, the you know, but you stand Paul in terms of finance. He's been in the Europa League And I would I would guess just now that they're planning to try and bring in that three or four experience players To help the squad because looking at the the games the last couple of games Even the model game with a one-two-one and obviously Tuesday nights Champions League qualifier these players need to help Paul. They do so. I'm sure the manager's desperately trying To bring in that three or four experience Hands to try and help the the group Because that's what I believe they need. I like the the project in terms of bringing younger players in Trying to make them better and obviously sell known for a profit but also within that you do need Players who have been there saying it wore the t-shirt and I've got good good experience So I feel expect over the next couple of weeks to Rangers to try and do business, but listen to the manager's presser today He's you've just mentioned that Paul that this players Seemed reluctant to go whether that's that they can't earn the same money as they're earning it at Rangers So there's a lot of work to be done over the next couple of weeks and hopefully That work can get done and Rangers can get reinforcements and Andy Rangers going out the other night I think most people we knew it'd be tough, but with a one-one score line coming over from Poland They were in the boxy. It didn't happen. What was your reflections on at four Rangers the other night? Yeah, just the second yellow that was our poor decision had our major impact in the game. I Think just with regard to the players that don't want to go you've got to remember players sign contracts in good faith So if if you're if you're going to ask them to leave well before the end of the contract every player will say Well, what's in it for me? What will you give me? I'm happy to stay here. I'm happy to honor my contract and Normally you would see a club saying okay. We'll give you a wee sweet note now I have no idea what Rangers finances are like But that is tough when you have got big earners that you don't want and You would prefer them to be out the door and normally the the process of that as you give them a little sweetener and I don't know if that's proven too difficult. Here's Philip from on speaking today about exits needed before incoming. Yes Yes, that the case and and some of them know it already really a long time and they're still in the building So that makes things more difficult, but it is what it is I cannot put a gun on their heads to to get them out of the building. That's also not not the idea It's what I said about all the other things. It's not something I can control. So I don't put any Energy in that all the energies in In the players who are here The players who will be here and to get the next result all the energies in that and Barry could hardly be bigger Couldn't it defending the trophy that Rangers have starting tomorrow. Yeah, listen. Yes defending champions Paul And I feel expect Rangers, but we're obviously the noise at this moment in time. It's no great We watched getting on and over the last month or so. I feel expect Rangers to go out and and But all those basically said Johnson that that's that's the word that I'm looking for that they need to try and Get out and get the fans Up and cheering and in good Good voice, so I feel expect I'm going to the game tomorrow Paul. So I'm looking forward to it I feel expect Rangers to go out Just a bit to hold and they so I'm fully expecting Rangers to as as you mentioned defending champions to To come through the game pretty comfortably, but they're coming up against us in Johnson team I'm going to be confident Paul good result last week albeit command that get a man sent off But Craig Levine's an experienced manager. They'll come and try and make it difficult and trying for a straight But Rangers need to they try and work away through that Celtic, of course We know Adam either is in the house has been paraded we'll hear from him shortly and last night We told you Celtic rejected a fifth bid and as you know 21 and a half million pounds plus add-ons from at Atlanta who we watched the other night again Real Madrid for Matt O'Reilly. Here's the manager today saying look There'll be more incoming's at Celtic. We don't need these were his words to sell Matt O'Reilly Well, I don't think I think so. I think financially in a really good place. I think the sale of anyone It shouldn't have to determine what we we do now I've said before we don't want to lose my rally, you know, but I still feel we need to strengthen in in certain areas and And we have the the resource to do that. So So not so selling players Won't determine what What we can bring in But we need to We want to improve the squad and getting it. This is separate to the guys that here because the guys here are absolutely been brilliant You know, they've been great for me and as we moved on and connected and everything else It's it's been great But you always have to look to to improve and just and not only that there are some certain gaps in our squad But we're we're light in terms of numbers and cover and and competition So that's what we have to Work very hard to try and achieve by the end of the window Andy. What are you thinking? Well, I haven't met any Celtic supporter who doesn't expect Matt O'Reilly to be so the interest seems to be too strong and eventually you'll get to a place where the I think whatever club it is they'll agree if he was Celtic and he will go and As Brendan Rogers was saying there Whether he goes or not Celtic should still be looking to do business for a striker for a centre back for a left back maybe one or two other positions they're very cash rich and Even if they get whatever it is 20 25 million for Matt O'Reilly You would imagine they've still got their eye on a number of players And you just hope that they're not looking with one eye across the road to see what Rangers did the other night And thinking right now that they are not in the Champions League. We don't need to spend as much I mean every Celtic supporter I speak to they should be getting down their their own path and trying to be as Best as they can be not just here in Scotland But make improvements as Europe as we've we've spoken about for so long Barry What are you thinking about Celtic there? You know, either is in the house a lot of money, but they've got money there Matt O'Reilly, what do you sense about him? Do you think he could be? Well, he could be on his way to think he could be closer. Yeah, everybody's talking about the 25 million pound mark Look, I think he's he's been excellent For Celtic certainly last year. I thought he went up levels last year I know he had a small dip just after the new year but then he came strong and towards end of the season yet look is a Really top midfield in my eyes. He's got all the attributes Paul And what about a business mean one and a half million pound from MK Don's If he didn't go by here, you would think he's agent would be in the door saying, right? You regard me as a 25 million pound player pay me as such and Be a refuge my sandy I think I've said to do lose and which it looks like that's going to happen He's going to be so hard to the place. Yeah two weeks still to go I didn't mean to show here from him when he rejoined Celtic. He spoke about it. Um When I came in the first time The the love and support I got from everyone was was amazing and for me to to feel that connection where everyone was really important to me and then obviously in terms of That connection I had with the fans and the staff and the players that obviously helped me out in the pitch. So for me, I think To develop my career and if I want to do the best out in my career, this is the right club for me I think it was so comfortable me coming in the first time. You know the lads welcome in me and Speaking with Brandon and all the staff the fans how they traded me was It was almost as the easiest transition ever, you know, I'm Settled in quite quick and obviously then playing the games scoring goals It was it was amazing and I've always wanted a feeling I probably didn't get didn't have that feeling that knowledge Which was unfortunate, but looking at a great club now It's where I wanted to be and I'm just delighted to get gone. Harry. What do you make out of either what you saw them? Well, so I didn't know what they're getting. I mean he was up and low and looking impressed me There's no doubt powerful knows where the back of the net is And I think he's one of the players that's under a really good manager and Brendan Rogers is only going to get better Paul and I do think it's a lot of money. I was expecting maybe five or six million would be right, but listen at the end of the day The the valuations in players down south is crazy at times, but there's no surprises. Paul. He knows where he's coming in So yeah, but I think it's a decent piece of business because that that is an area where sell to really need to Needed to strengthen because obviously Kiyogo Getting injured at the weekend. He's had problems with at shoulder over the last couple of seasons But no, overall, I think he does a really good sign and I think he's one of the players as I mentioned He's only going to get better and he just got a bundle of goals for Celtic How many do you think either will get this season? Well, he started his career. Well, I think the the importance of his goals last season I think that is what drew everyone's attention to how important he could be as just as an individual make no difference and I think in time will become the number one striker you don't pay that amount of money They might have paid a wee bit more But you know sell it are looking for whoever it is. It's gonna buy matter really they're looking for them to to pay a premium Which is absolutely fine, but you would expect him to be the number one striker and The way the game's going now with what have you got nine ten eleven subs? You can play five You can always say to strikers, you know, give it give us an hour and you can say to a substitute Well, you can get half an hour. You're getting a lot of Getting a lot of game time, but I mean that that only takes you back to what Celtic had last season They might need another striker. They certainly needed another couple of defenders and I'd be very surprised if they don't do more business between now and the end of the window Brendan Rogers was asked about the fee. You can never win. Can you? You don't mean you don't spend money you do spend money You spend too much. It's like, you know We've got a great day I know the player that we have here and for me. It's just the case of just getting him Moving in the direction that I believe he can move in. He has all the talent. He's six for three Quickly strong. He's touches good. He can score goals. And like I said, he's He has big moments and big games. So for me the stellar is that he can improve on of course and as a young player That's what you'd expect, but I really think that Is it whatever money we paid for him? He's worth every single penny of it and he'll demonstrate that in the next 24 months that You'll be worth a lot more than that and you'll probably see him start very soon because here's the update from Celtic So really short one starts about Alistair Johnson Ali Will be fine Kyogo, we just have to have a little look at him Kyogo look at him You expect Adamida to start on Sunday against Hibs. Yeah, why not Paul if he's fit Kyogo just seemed to pick up a bit of a knock last week at Easter Road against Hibs, but yeah, he's in the building and I think this is what the Celtic supporters are looking for not just Adamida. They want two or three others and when you think the amount of money that the supporters are I'd put into the club with our season tickets. They're soon to be Champions League I fear it's a lot of money. They deserve You know a bit of investment in the team We're going to talk about the all firm games coming up in the fact that there's going to be no opposition fans at Celtic in two weeks Time or at eye blocks in January and they're going to do it They're going to try it again in the second part of the season But we're going to get from Philippe Clemente and Brendan Rogers on that in a few moments before that though Barry What about Kelly last night saying sadly going out, but Tromzo defeated by Comarnock. They're through Yeah, and I watched Derek sent a view after the first leg at rugby part and he was saying everybody thinks Tromzo is going to be Favorites, nobody finds their chances in and growing growing for the coefficient as well Paul can over there But I went result and it just shows you that how good the manager Derek mechanics is. He's been over there and set his team up really well and Great result just pitted it's a month and lost a couple of goals Towards the end would have been great to see them go through as well, but for Comarnock But I wouldn't result for them. Yes, and then running out of steam 3-1 on the night to brand 4-2 in aggregate Andy 4-Dent mechanics and Comarnock. It's a well, it's all a bit quick in Hagen now I think Henry Glassens boy Jordan's you not play for them? So There's a bit of a connection there, but like Barry I just think it's a great story for Commandant the supporters if they were to get through which is going to be a difficult tie But we've been seeing it for a while Paul is great to see Scottish clubs Other than Celtic Rangers, you know hearts last season getting them a few points and picking up a bit of money It would be great if Comarnock Could do the same because it's been such a long time since they were taking part in Europe It would be brilliant and we need it Barry because we're you know We know the champions this season are gonna have to play a qualifier next season for the Champions League Yeah, I don't like it. I think if you know Champions your country poor and a big believer in you have to go straight into the Champions League Yeah, but listen, it's great up and we and they put and they just said they're Have to put everything's always on about Rangers and Celtic, but it's great to see the other teams Who participate in Europe getting results and that was a fantastic one for Comarnock last night and as I mentioned before it Just shows how good the manager there at mechanics and as For the injury news then so for Celtic also Johnson is back he'll go probably not start Andy for Rangers Well, let's hear the manager, but we know today Barry bad news a bit rid van Yomas out for what four to six weeks Yeah, it looked a bad one Just we had a shot at Gopo, but you can see that he's pulled up straight away. Obviously stretch had off so yep there's a terrific in Numbers as a as Rangers so adventurous you see who goes there yes day looks better for me one further forward Man, oh Ben Davis come on and played that position, but he's naturally a I said I'll have sort of interest and you see who actually Fills in it left by well red vans out and just and well about the possible signing of Brandon Williams at man United Yeah, good pedigree Paul Come through it man United. He's been in loan at two very good clubs in that switch in Norwich Free transfer as well no fee involved. I Thought I would imagine his salary will be Prit a demanding and but look Rangers need players and he's got a bit of experience I know he's a young player, but he's played at high level So that's one player that I would have no no qualms and Inside and for Rangers and Andy you need a bit of luck I suppose in the trading in the market for Rangers just now only to get some loan deals You would imagine and someday like him there's maybe a reason he's not playing But he played quite a few games for a man United and as Barry said on loan at Norwich Ipswich, I think you always need a bit of luck Paul, but You also need to be better at doing your work Yeah, and Rangers have fought to a lot of money for a lot of players who haven't delivered and So that's where they need to improve of course everyone needs a bit of luck, but I Think a Rangers problems may be down to a bit more than than good or bad luck off course I mean can't well just not playing not involved Janis had you so much Promise couple years ago. Where is he? Yeah, I mean listen he got a series injury But a couple of years ago obviously went out and loan till the league of last year Was in and out the team and I watched him in the euros I know he didn't start the first game But I'm thinking to myself Could be like a new player coming back a new start from but listen obviously he's not part of the manager's plans And he's one of the players that obviously is worth a couple of pound and his own a good salary, so he's I can't see pudgy coming back and in a fold. Let's go to the team update from Philip Clamont Yeah, return will be out. It will be around between four and six weeks something like that cut right also ever as a Smaller problem probably will not be available and Liam Baligen is still in doubt and the rest Don't be fit try to take a break and then we're gonna take some of your calls all eight all eight seventeen seventeen seven hundred See Adam either saying his mum is delighted that he's gone to Celtic of course. He's a cork man. It's a huge Celtic a stronghold Barry your mum was just delighted when you went to Rangers Please your mammy as well as your dad's listen to the light watching the football. She was all you know Mums are like and She was always worried just me and my brother anything we played certainly when we played against each other When Derek was a dumb family and that was a that was a tough couple hours for my mom Did you have a double scarf then black and white in the blue? You're late great, yes, what was she like? She loved watching the football. She came to number of games that I played Yeah, but yes, she loved it. Did she go to the other games heads or whatever some of the other clubs you went She can you know Bolton she can down a Sheffield a couple of times I was always a good weekend But no primarily me just watching Celtic's healthy It was a nice line wasn't it Barry? You don't often see it somebody saying you know what my mum's Exactly, I really liked it. Leanne Creighton all like that who was with us last night listen She and Craig were brilliant. So we're going to up the pace on the next section on honestly. They were brilliant This is the goal radio football show listen anytime whatever you get your podcasts It's a couple weekend It's the Premier Sports Cup the League Cup the first of the three trophies up for grabs Domestically Rangers winning it last year Celtic going out early on Rangers in action tomorrow St Johnson as we mentioned 545 before that Aberdeen With life without me off-skate but with maybe four to six million in the bank up against Queen's Park Could there be a shock Dundee against Adrian good game for Cook against hearts the Spartans against Ross County and Yeah, those are the games tomorrow. We mentioned Rangers St. Johnson at Hamden and then Sunday at two o'clock Dundee United against St. Marin mother well against Comannock. Well done Kelly last night No luck unlock gave for St. Marin, but they'll get back to action But it's Comannock will be up against Copenhagen and next week away and in the cup tomorrow Celtic three o'clock against head still be what do you think Andy pretty much a full house? It's not in the season ticket book. So is it 50,000 tomorrow as Sunday? Do you think for Celtic? Yeah, I think so it's early part of the season Support as I think I'm trying to just assess the team would even need everyone's get their own Opinion on what Celtic need in terms of absolute essentials. It was strengthening good business to get Adam In but I'm sure it's not the end Barry and I were wondering what about Luke McCown? I see hebs are in with another offer around the quarters of a million for the Dundee captain Yeah, Celtic are reported to be watching this are they going to bid a million? You know, it reminds me a lot about Ryan Christie and the type of potential that he showed at in Berness You remember he went to Aberdeen on loan and then Celtic went in in Germany He developed into such a good player and eventually went to Scotland and you know had a lot of success It's Celtic before going down south Luke McCown. I think he's got the same type of temperament. I like the way he plays He's a forward thinking Attacking midfielder. I think he's got a bit of imagination And obviously he's done really well with Dundee. How would he look if he's going to a bigger club with more demands How would he look in a in a Celtic strip? Could he play? I think he could You could certainly play for Rangers. I think there's there's so much potential in him I think he's one that would probably go somewhere before the end of the season Barry with his window rather Yeah, of course. Sorry. Yeah, Celtic or Rangers for Luke McCown. Yeah, I really like him every time I watched Dundee stood out like a sore thumb Paul. He was He was Dundee's best player 26 he's not a young kid, so he's got good experience and listen he He's come he's done it the hard way. He had the United got his move to Dundee and for me He was exceptional last season. Could he do a job for Rangers or Celtic? 100% that's how much I read him. It's a kind of Lauren Shanklin route, isn't it? You know that he was here. Yeah, I love to see that I love to see players load divisions getting a move up to the Premier League and now Obviously have you produced the goods, which Luke McCown has done for Dundee It looks to me if there's a lot of interest that I know have suffered to Offers not back, but no disrespect to Hibbs. I think he's better than that. When you look at The business Celtic have done in recent years Greg Taylor Came from command. I think he's been a terrific Celtic player very very consistent over his time and I know that Celtic have brought in a number of Different options that left back, but Greg Taylor always seems to see them off I'm trying to think of Rangers. Obviously the recent one Connor Baran who I think has started is Rangers career really well coming from from Aberdeen and I think it's always wise to look at your own league and And get you know cherry pick some of the the best young talent David Turnbull did well David Turnbull did really well before he went down south to Cardiff. Yeah. Oh eight. Oh eight 17 17 700 Andy Walker Polkony and Barry Ferguson Okay, we're back where we were for a number of seasons There's going to be no Rangers fans at Celtic Park on the 1st of September and no Celtic fans at iBrocks in January Celtic had spent around over a hundred thousand pounds getting ready for the game because only two weeks away And Celtic say they couldn't get assurances that the set was going to be accommodation for the Celtic fans at the new year game So therefore they've said right it's going to be only Celtic fans in two weeks time and Rangers said well in that case there'll be No Celtic fans coming to iBrocks in January The SPFL have stepped in today and they've said oh yeah, it's going to happen that the following two games So they kicked the can down the street. I can just see your faces. I think we're all a bit Depressed by this depressed a bit strong, but come on. Isn't it? Yeah, I feel sorry for the supporters. Yeah Massive it's a huge game for me. It's the biggest game about And there's no going to be any Rangers fans at Celtic Park and then vice versa No Celtic fans iBrocks, I just hope that they can come up with a solution. Oh, I thought it was all in the past It was sorted, but back to square one again. Yeah, fortunately. Yeah 5% of the allocation. So About two and a half thousand two and a half at iBrocks 3000 at Celtic. Yeah, it's just you know the ground slightly bigger Parked right let's hear what the managers are saying today Phillip come on first of all because I cannot manage it And I have to say that the fans were Amazing after the red card because then you felt the bus That that drives the team and gave them energy They were pushing in that way and after the zero one it fell away again So we need to look for that to find that again also in Hamden all of us together But our duty stays to to win football games to win duels To give good passes to make the right ones to to show what a fun fans want to see There is our job to do and then I know the fans will follow and it's it's like yeah If you've been used 10 20 30 40 50 years maybe some people to be at iBrocks all the time I understand that in the beginning it feels uncomfortable and you don't feel the the same vibe and that they were disappointed about Going there to watch games when they are used of those things all these years, but It's very important to stick together and then and to be positive to To make it better and to get the best results also in the spirits that were not at iBrocks I know everybody behind the scenes is working hard To win every hour that we can go faster back to iBrocks everybody wants that everybody desires that In the club and specifically was asked then what about no old firm away fans for the first half of this coming season I'm i'm not involved in these talks, but I hope for football games always that there are Two set of fans, but there are some things from the past or some things now I don't know all the details about that. So i'm not the right person To comment if it was possible now for these first two games or not But I love to see football where To on two sides there are fans. I think it's always better for the for the product for the players for everybody Same question went to Brendan Rogers She's disappointed for for both sets of supporters because it's it's been a long time now since since we We had this sort of a decent allocation for for both clubs. I think it's listen. It's not complicated You know, I believe there was an agreement in place to to carry out works to ensure that the clubs are done The it's in place for both sets of supporters to come Say that they'd be working on that for a number of months I know that and I know the work that has gone into it and the the investment to ensure that everything is Was right for this this fixture. So but you can only do that if the agreement is Is upheld with both. So if we can't then guarantee that then sadly, we aren't able to To open the gates for for the way support for for this one So I think the statement was that it was for the next two games So fingers crossed that after that We say in the final couple of games that we can get the supporters back in then he was asked by a reporter Could you not let Rangers fans in in a couple of weeks in good faith? No, I think beforehand you got you Yeah, I think the the the board have made a really really good decision in terms of You know that the the club's job was to protect The support and if there's not that guarantee that come the the second fixture then I think it's only logical that that you wouldn't reciprocate so I think seltic have played their part and what they're asked to do and again I go back Nothing of this was seltics issue Nothing When you go back to when this all started There's nothing to do with seltics Seltic gets dragged into this here As being a seltic rangers thing. It's not a seltic rangers thing This is a rangers thing So seltic When even they're asked to to and have this agreement to to make the stadium safe and everything else We play money into that. We do the works which started months ago And that like I said On both parties, it hasn't been agreed So it's not complicated It hasn't been done for good faith. Whatever way you want to put it There's still an agreement for both, right? So it's not done It's not great faith If we allow rangers supporters in then we get to January and our own supporters can get in It's not good faith So I think that the agreement hasn't been upheld So seltic rightly have to defend the supporters and the club and sadly As I said, the rangers supporters miss out in this game and seltic in the return game But let's hope that after that We can then find a way to get the supporters in Andi your reaction to That I'm not sure anyone's get any hope that After January you'll get supporters in I think the truth is that both clubs cannot stand the sight of one another You've got a toothless governing body who should be able to step in here, but they can And it just seems as though They're trying to ruin what is a you know, Scotland's Showpiece it's the best game to to be at It's the best game to play in it's the best game to to commentate on it's the best game to look at if you're Sitting in an armchair at home And it will be devalued once again. It's um, it's a great pity and I thought seltic would I always thought seltic were the bigger club Let the rangers fans in and see what happens in January Seltic would be if they did that they would be doing the right thing Barry, what's your reaction to it? My reaction is I agree with Andi's just says it. I can see there's been a solution to this Now after it's happened, I thought it was on the passport I thought it was going to be fans allowed back in as you mentioned 5% The allocation was going to go to the away support Now I can't see it happening at all I hate to see it But it's a it's an amazing fixture locking off the plane so many Both the eyebrows and seltic park And it makes such a difference when you're when there's a way fan your own away fans and it's seltic part and even As a ranger player walking out You had six or seven thousand seltic fans pull it made It made the fixture Philip, come on didn't get involved in it there He said I'm sorry for the fans as Brendan Rogers did too, but Andi Brendan Rogers really came forward there He spoke and he said hey listen, this is a matter for boardroom members the other ones who are involved in the The very heart of the matter you should have board members coming out of both clubs to explain the reasoning Do you think it's unfair that the manager has to answer that one? Well, I didn't be right I didn't think Brendan Rogers would be the spokesman for all things You know that are going on in the boardroom you you could you could quite rightly ask him a bit about other things, but um The whole thing's a mess and I am absolutely not convinced that once you get past january and you've got another Two games the next one obviously being a seltic part. I'm not convinced you'll have away supporters in there Barry you probably don't know the the details either Do you think it ranges the fact that they're out to the stadium just now That the maybe they can give no guarantees just now for january because of that But you'd imagine they'll be back by then and surely they can accommodate three thousand I'm trying to see both sides here Yeah, yeah, I would imagine so that rangers are going to be back in towards end of September so I would imagine so that would be enough time to Sort that they'll sell shout out to a low away fans certainly in The the facts just come here come my eyebrows. It just saddens my pole uh As I said, I've lucky enough to play in them lucky enough to bring when I was down in england Bring people up to the fixture and it's just an amazing occasion and it's um It just ruins it when we know what we've found most of the like up at the at the brim on end Let's say the seltic fans were there seven thousand of them. They're giving it. Yeah It was brilliant listen you got all sorts, but yeah, that's what that's what made it Um, the noise levels were amazing. I just don't think it's the same pole I've been back at the games selling at ibrooks when there's no way fans and um Yeah, it's great that rangers fans are there in in numbers I just think it makes the fixture and When the seltic fans are there as well and Andy when you think about it for so many years It was called the rangers end or the seltic end and they get away from that now And you had the rangers fans will be being at you then if you came up at that end of the ground It's all part of it. Um, I don't think relations between the clubs have ever been worse Relations between the fans have have never been as bad The hatred has never been as much and it's it's a great pity and instead of trying to help Um, we're just putting we're putting it to to one side. Let's just have One stadium all green and then the next time round it'll all be blue and I just don't see it changing the they cannot stand the site of one another it seems But we need strong leadership and I know you always say it's the clubs who make up the SPFL But someday needs to say right this has to happen. It's a 5% allocation make it work Well, it should the SPFL board should have a authority, but they they don't really well They should when you get round the table bang your heads again a sort out. Yeah Sort out Footballs and entertainment is the national sport here. We're letting ourselves down with this one Yeah, and everyone goes, oh, well, we can't allow them in because they'll then maybe not allow our people in and then rangers are well rangers Why why were you not ready? You never say what's happened. You'll never go back to a sizable away support I mean the 5% is obviously a state direction, but you That that'll that is all it will ever be unless You know, you've got a confidal as we saw last year at hand in where it's 50/50 What are you thinking? Give us a call or 808 17 17 700 back to the football itself next This is the good idea football show listen anytime. Whatever you get your podcasts Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go to create onto the phones Baddie Ferguson, Paul Kinney and Andy Walker and Robbie a Celtic fan is on the line Paul cook. Hi Robbie. Good evening Good evening guys. I just a bit the shelter means off bucket for your school Uh as much as it's i've been late to see it back to the fuel allocation I just want to get some good hard facts See and i'm not just saying this because i'm a Celtic fan right see who started all this stuff with Yeah, you've got you've got a way way back who started as a rangers like that's just a fact Baddie's got to accept that and he's got to accept that rangers started all that so we might in 2018 when he told The fuel allocation is 7,000 for the bit of money. Yeah, we do the dave king time. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah Tim what annoys me. I always can be walk off right? I be I like come right. I'm no one of these people If you want to criticize a cop as always self-defend you there. We have we're guys are having travel in a class Right. I've got a problem on the walker. I have a new problem on this If you want to criticize yourself the new problem, but see this picket fiasco It sits on the fence all the time about it and it doesn't want to put the button in rangers new and I want to get another fight 48 right you see the winner that I'll never go back to the fuel allocation. There's only one cop that said it's not going to go back to the fuel allocation Who was it? Can who was it? Was it last season on day? I can the guys who don't know? Uh, buzz growth, but what he sees still do of no say that rangers I've said that there's no going to go back to the fuel allocation ever that was coming through the rangers. So and they Are you a mate? But you just sat on the fence with a pack of allocation. I want to go back to another home Because there's too many things so on that um, the second point was an opinion that you've just given a belief. Yeah, yes And I spoke to a lot of Celtic supporters who you know the the right behind whether it's blended knowgers or the boards or whoever's making this decision I'm also spoken to Celtic supporters who You think it's terrible and I just think Celtic should be the bigger club do the right thing Do the right thing let let the rangers support us in when is it in a couple of weeks And uh, let's see what happens in January and you're not being critical of rangers though He is accusing you of pulling back not wanting to criticize rangers. Listen There's a lot of things that you can criticize the surrounding the whole Celtic and rangers thing and I It wouldn't be wise for me to go there. Yeah, because you have Robbie and of course we respect your opinion you come on and you've made good contributions So but nobody hears disputing it. It did it was the Dave King time and he said, right? We're going to change it the Celtic game came first the home game and it was Celtic who enacted it first. Yep agreed Yep, yep, yep Another thing I want to say though is I'll even put this point to Barre Barre Barre You make your rangers, right? All the rangers of say that it's not going to go back up to the southern frozen that you want to see that I do want to see that and they want We want to see only your club barre, right? Can't help I'm getting a wee bit. I'll be right. I read a bit. That's because there's too many people for the Celtic Ex players and the rangers they don't want to put a button a rangers a bit. That's I understand itself that I've had to get dragged down and that's a wee bit, right? But Barre, I want your opinion on this and give me an honest opinion Need to face Celtic. I've said that there's no going to go back up to our occasion only your man Let's put the ball down. Oh, that's no there in the mirror But he says it's never going to go back up to the field It could change it could change because he's out the building now. Yeah, right now get it off Listen, I've always said I've always said I would love to see I don't know it the exact number is it 7000? Yeah about yeah, I would love to see it As I said, I was lucky enough to play in it and I've been at playing a games when it's it's been Obviously the 7000 Celtic fans at eyebrows. It's one of the issues Robbie seriously I want to ask all three of you. It's one of the issues that the clubs no send sell more season tickets than they did 10 years ago and the problem now is that they can sell 45,000 40 thousand tickets at rangers Oh, yeah, you should you should you should be putting these questions to the head that rangers the head itself Do you have the spokesmen as it shouldn't be branded not just or or feel it come on. This is our This is boardroom leadership. You're right. It needs leadership and it needs people who are actually involved in the discussions Come out and tell us what what we're not give the rationale explain why because we don't know why everyone's guessing Exactly. Yeah, I'm in a dark about what's going on But you'd love to see 7,000 Rangers fans Any expert any current player any supporter 99.9 percent and would say the same thing Robbie, but the passion you're showing is is what a lot of people feel as well And it's a pity in a world so divided just now. We talk about Scotland and the good things here This is embarrassing. It's embarrassing that we cannot allow at the moment Uh, the opposition fans in at the old firm games are at the Darby games. I think it's it's such a shame What else did you want to say Robbie? Yep. Yeah, no, I thought I'd just go back when it was the A way way way back when I was just a young boy and ranger used to get 18,000 Wow, the old man do they say this when we used to you used to get that all behind and And the old man did us as well used to get a re-back that means Self-text means stand rangers and I can mind they when I used to go as I said a young boy So I've never just got the broom one In body was probably just a young boy going into the games and you're going to get the enclosure And you know I used to get in course. Yeah, I remember that's main standard I mean rangers go 18,000. You've got to go behind the goal and they'll be a bit of shelter. It's main standard so Self that got seven thousand so it wasn't even 50 50 then rangers were actually getting married at that party because it wasn't 18,000 behind the goals Held at shelter part when it was all standing So there's seven thousand for the broom one and you're talking about the four five thousand So you're talking about the 15 14,000 self that used to get so it wasn't even tough for tired. It had to be straight in the middle And so I mean I was at that one when they put mixtape scored the rocket and You know I found these chairs and then I was I was like that game and I was reading the line with 18 your books at the end I'm doing that because I was wondering that we was going off each year when it scored a bit. You know, it's like 88 Yeah, he's sitting there. Yeah, I was costly. What are you? You're there? That's the boy. Yeah I was covering that game that day. Robbie and I love you. This is a passionate game But I think you make a good point Paul about the number of season tickets. Yeah, seems to have grown Over the last number of years and maybe that's get something to do with maybe I would say again This is not something for the managers to sort out. This is boardroom level And if we all knew the exact detail and what you're thinking Tell us what it is and let us make a judgment for sure Robbie what else were you gonna say? I wasn't trying to cut you off. I just wanted to You know throw that into the points to Andy and to Barry as well because you're right rangers haven't come up Well, you're in this respect. I don't think rangers have explained why they're not ready for January Because I would always try and see the right solution and say sort it out for two weeks time right Celtic if you're ready Right, okay rangers. You've gone to January. Tell us why I can't understand why if it's true If it's true that they wouldn't have been ready to accommodate Two and a half thousand Celtic funds. Anyway, Robbie. What else did you want to see? Uh, since it's a get there the game coming up and, uh, oh, uh, I'll just talk for a bit for for a change I saw I'll meet the point under a barak and trippin as well. Even not so I felt that point and It's just a bit ahead of the street cover the department. I actually think that um I think that you know, we're going to be a bit more game thing this season under I mean, I I should the both of them the both of them. I think i'm going to get easier under the both of them as much as they've got different attributes and Kill was a smaller guy the both each were effective in the same way as we've seen either with the big goals, you know The free free eyeball to go that for gold the cup final The two of eight used to roll the two penalties the one at foot part when i got the header and the one that came in low But it's up to the second ball the one that came low up for part right in there So he's got all the good after bits. It's more just he's a guy that can hold the ball up And he's good in the air. I mean, he's physical. He's actually quite fast as well, you know, he's got good feet You know, he does a lot. He's quite a way around the striker And I was just wondering and how you see the selta ke if you think that maybe I'll be able to stick the kill See that I don't think it's as well when it comes to the whole farm games. It really has been killed because it has been quite effective But I think but in the know just doesn't it really Oh, he's near the mirror you and the because it ended there's we we need to see how they perform when on the part of For example, if you she may be going to start on Sunday if he starts on fire and gets like two or three goals and he's on the next Then maybe we'll keep going that it just depends on how he either starts when he plays like you know, what would you say? Okay Well, I think at this stage you if he's fit, you know, I think he'll go I'm looking at the the big game in a couple of weeks rangers come out of park head I think you'll go with probably star. He's got a great record in that game, but I think Robby's right. I think in the fullness of time Adam Eater will become the number one striker you don't pay that amount of money for someone and And not give him the status that he deserves, you know, when you when you're spending that amount of money listen to the way that Brendan Rogers described him last season and this was at a time where he wasn't getting a game every week he was waxy and lyrical about all of his qualities and He said when you look back at Brendan Rogers first time around it was that type of striker that he had an odds in a bad world um, he had two wide players paddy robert scott sinkler. I think that's the way he likes to play and Yeah, I think it's just good business and I would honestly it roby I wouldn't be surprised Or rather I would be surprised if seltip didn't get another striker in before the windows out But what you don't do Barry suggesting another striker coming in because it is too In terms of kayogo watching the last couple of games. It's a sharpest. I've I thought you look really really sharp I know he never scored then he goes, but I thought Certainly watching the hubs game at the weekend. He looked As sharp as he's been in that a long time. He's what your manager said roby. They're both number one strikers Yeah, yeah, I think listen, I'll make it clear. I see them both as number one strikers I don't see one as number one note number two. I think you're going this time. He has been absolutely brilliant uh been really really good and this season he started off the season really really well and so that's that's great and Be can't rely on someone he only played to the highest level 55 to 60 games a season, you know, we want to go deep in as many of the competitions as we can So that will take us to that number of games And you can't have just one striker to do that I I felt that I wanted another guy who I can call a number one striker So that's what I feel I have just depending on the game depending on the energy and the in the team Just depending on and the circumstances of the match or the fixture list then Having those two uh, it's a big asset for us Robby happy problem for you to have. What do you think on sunday? What do you expect to see? Real i'm going to go away and they walk up and i'm going to go away Ida is start and I hope that he gets a couple of goals two or three goals And that sets he's going to set a marker for the first game Just just show harm that maybe kogo come on as a substitute. I think it's we bring the no just says It's maybe just precautionary and you're going to wait to see him talk tomorrow Uh, so it's touching go be kogo and i'm going to i'm going to go with side randy And I think that if either gets off to a good start It's going to be hard to leave on the team, isn't it? This is I mean whatever happens whether it's uh, ademida or kogo who starts against rangers in a In a couple of weeks there roby Whoever it is you'll see someone else after an hour They'll get the next half hour and I think that is a huge difference between salting rangers at the moment You've got a quality a number one who'll start the game And you may well think you've got a another quality number one who could come on and give you half an hour when You know the pace of the game has been established maybe there's a bit of tired legs And you've got fresh legs coming on that's absolute quality There's a there's a big difference in what uh, brandon rogers can can bring on as a substitute and in that position And we're only talking about the the striker position at the moment There's a big difference between what brandon rogers has and philip come on ademida. He's here full of confidence I'm quite confident Looked at the timing of the goals I scored last season was unbelievable But for me the main the main target is to score as many goals as I can regardless of what time it is And like you said, self-confidence is huge I've said it previously when I was at Norwich I probably didn't have that belief and that drive to to get going and since coming to salting and January it really boosted me and I think people could tell the difference when we at Norwich then when I was at salting That's self-confidence. So I think it's really important Hour two coming up after the news. Thanks Robbie for that call. Oh eight oh eight seventeen seventeen seven hundreds This is the good idea football show Listen live weeknights from five on go. Let's go Bally Ferguson and he walking with me porcuny hour two and the weekend very much here the football Um, there's not the friday night game because it's not the championship and the premiership this weekend It's the league cup the premier sports cup but great peptides tomorrow and also sunday Who's gonna win in england? I see this as man united kick off the season against the full um berry who could catch Man City can somebody do it this season I can't see it. I can't see it If you're asking me who I fancy when the the premier league I'm going to go man set you again. Yeah, go I'll do that again. I still think you'll make a couple of signings um I was watching and Sky sports today Roger's not playing tomorrow because obviously the Uh, european's uh championship So he'll be a big miss, but I still think that that's so strong. Oh, man city. I can't see past them Arnie slot and now for clop at liver pool or arsenal of things. Yeah, no, they have Yeah, uh, liver pool, but they kick off at Ipswich, don't they? Yeah, tomorrow lunch time and he what about arsenal have come so close Yeah, I think they'll be the only serious challengers to say. I think the big question is those 115 odd charges that city have and there's going to be some sort of decision reached on that I don't know within the century Well, apparently it's the early part of next year. So what would that mean if they're guilty? I mean You're possibly looking at a relegation or whatever it's um And then how do you judge the previous number of years? So anyway, that's the I think right now. I agree with bar if you give me Just one team you need to choose city Well, we'll find out kicks off tonight. We prefer to talk Scottish football, but obviously so many Well, not as many Scots as we'd have been in the past are down there, but he knows he make Tommy's linked with Napoli. Yep. Same as uh, Baligalmo So that that'll been interesting. See yeah, look, I think make Tommy Is a very good player. I think man united Need something like that in the middle of the pitch. So I've been testing to see what happens. He said a lot of interest over the summer Um, so yep napoli. I've seen I've I've came in with fairly my wing-pound bid So I've been testing to see if there'll be two Scots playing over In Naples. Sure. That would be a great move for me. Tom and he isn't it because he's great for Scotland Um, it man united. He's a kind of unsung hero really isn't it? Pretty much like Dan Fletcher. Yeah, if you remember Dan Fletcher always played in the big games for for Manchester United and even the Dan Fletcher played way with Scotland. I thought he'd come in for Unnecessary criticism at times until we actually train We're players and you see them close up Dan Fletcher as a an excellent player You'd have anything I like seeing Scots at the big club. Obviously a mctominate man united You see Andy Robertson, a Liverpool when Kieran Terny played where we ask no, you'll love to see these these big players these Scottish players playing at the They're the big clubs and I'm sure mctominate if he does move he'll still go to a big club and do well He's got a lot to offer John again. That baffles me about Kieran Terny on there. Yeah, so he was spotted today Barry as you know Yeah at the arsenal. Um There was a what was it today the first team plans Uh today was spotted there was an arsenal session and he was there at the annual media day got there eventually So he has been to play in the arsenal. Yeah, I don't know what's went on there Well, something obviously went on in the background, but for me Kieran Terny should be playing with Arsenal Yeah, I mean over he's had injuries, but I mean the fans loved him there fans loved him, but Injuries can kill you If you're not reliable if you can't play Half a dozen games on on the spin if you're consistently injured, it's been a A torrid time for him and there was a there was a time when he was like Arsenal was a go-to number one Left back, but not now Jack has been on asking you Barry of Rabbi Matondo wanted by Legionited What a terrible start they've had to the season at the 23 year old winger preparing for an exit from Rangers Maybe what do you think? Well, it may be one that you might make a cash in he's not a certain start A poll show of Legionited are willing to pay and I don't know what it would be One and a half million to a million pound. I think it's a business that Rangers may look to do because it'll bring money in for the manager then to go and And spend on other areas that he thinks he needs to strengthen Would you reckon Matondo tavern here as well? I know I'm just checking some quick fire then for Rangers because we only hear a bit more from Philippe Le Mans I mean, this is the question in the next two weeks and two days as you said in the paper today, Barry Um, they need to watch your words. Wasn't demolish sent Johnson to one of those Yeah, they need to build those then they need to get some players in they need help For yeah, I said that look you can label in terms of the watching the game and Tuesday The place tried poem They need help. They need a bit of quality and then the better experience in there That's when i'm watching Rangers. That's what I finally believed they need in over the next couple of weeks They know the situation now in terms of the finances They need to be creative. I believe in the transfer market. Whether that's loan signing school Because they'll be certainly players out there that are surplus at other clubs that have had a good pre-season That are think they could certainly come in and do a job For Rangers, but it needs to be guys we experience, Barry. I don't see Rangers Again anywhere near competing for the title. Do you? At this moment in time knowing that's a worry But they're still two weeks and they the transfer window and that's where i'm Trying to be positive when you listen to feel it come on. He's talking about obviously the Setback of not getting through this leg of the champion leg and the financial implications There's not a chance Rangers can put together a squad that can compete over 38 games And I mean I know selta i haven't done it yet, but you won't you want even more strengthening Celtic in down their own path where they're you know trying to be top dogs in Scotland as they so often have been but also Being progress in Europe you would expect at least another two or three players whatever positions that they can That they can get through. I just can't it's the It's what do you do when you're a Rangers fan and you see Your club being being second being behind Because I listen to that john benon of you weren't were all behind Felipe come on come on saying the same thing where we're all heading the right direction When things go against you that will be You know better than they are and they certainly in the west of Scotland You understand the way that the club's going in terms of the model With the one to go with in terms of getting the younger players in Make them better And selling them on for the profit, but it's about the year now you need to win when you're at rangers So when i'm looking at the Rangers team, I think they need to strengthen with that experience and guys should have been about the block Because look at the the team just now they need to help Paul they do they need serious help but in terms of the the weeks out it looked really strong I'm not going to sit sit you in line. I've watched the last couple of Celtic games And they look really strong they do they look if there's um that at it And I always look at the midfield and I look at that three in the middle of the pitch And they've just got a really good understanding the way they move the ball they move it really quickly They've got a certain way of playing. I just think rangers at this moment in time are just in that That part with the trying to find the best of living and he's wanting to bring other players in to strengthen He's unsure what way That they're going to go forward in terms of what way who's he going to play so the next couple of weeks is going to be so important Paul in terms of Strengthening the need to strengthen the squad and I know there's no a lot of money in that's where I say the word create They need to try and be creative and the transfer market. So I'm not able to what they've done in January. We had deal Monday Bring them in loan We have view of a permanent signing where they can obviously get them in For nothing just pays wages and obviously player trying to pay a transfer fee But it'll be really interesting to see Over the the coming weeks what harms always remember When seltie were looking for something to be a bit different It was just I think it was just after it Tommy had had left and they went and signed lube of beer and marath chick And everyone was saying who what? 350 grand I remember And what a terrific player what uh When you talk about creative berry, there's someone that you can find who still has it and a great deal of experience Yeah, I played against them a number of times you like to play against. Yeah, a ballet wise He was frightening. Now you look at that team. You would always say lassen. Yeah obviously and you had John hearts and you had i certainly had Alan thompson lamblin and petroff But he was the one he was the one that you You feared because he both feet. I mean, I remember playing an eyebrow snake He whipped a corner in me's right foot. I think it was big goes knocked out for another corner Opposite side he whipped it in me's he's left. Yeah, and He came from where was it a french club? Yeah, and it was something like 350 grand or something. I had never never heard them But he was he was a quality operator and that's something that He just made me a pool a rabbit out of heart something something like that And he came we he was at a good age as well. Yeah experience. Yeah very little money great experience and You know one of one of the great favorites for so many Celtic supporters of for about two or three seasons and the managers is what cut out. Yeah, it's it's going to be an interesting couple of weeks, but I think he knows he needs this strength and pull so he was asked today who's coming in What's the could you answer give any cleaves as to the rumors going around transfer wise for rangers? There are so many rumors about about players and yeah We we had to talk several weeks ago that it's important for the club to sell also players to get players or I don't know what's going to happen the next two weeks in that way. So we will see That that sounds to me. It's depending on players leaving. Yeah That isn't the problem you've got is The big way the ones that spring to mind is hard. Yeah, can't well maybe I bend Davis Who I would imagine our own big salaries, but these players have got to be wanted at other clubs And you have got to respect that these guys have been given These contracts that they didn't go any move unless they get Yeah, I mean, I'm listening to feel it come on. It's all about I can't I can't put a gun in our their head No, you can you you can put money in our Pocket and they'll go and that's that's tough But when you say the contract in good faith, why would you leave it if you're To go to something that's not as good. You would need to be competent Which shows you how important it was. It wasn't just last summer with Michael Beal But so much trust was put in that individual. There was a lot of players brought in Yeah, they didn't do a job poll. There was a lot of money spent last summer And the way you always had it said I wait I don't know what the bottom for three and a half million pound four million pound So for less than half of that. Yeah It's not good business It's not and that's previously you had players right good players Ryan Kent barrisage They were going to end their contracts leaving for awesome sure Not good business the financial gap. Yeah, you look at the ones that that's a two-hour spring in mind this summer The previous summer where they are lost in Kent So a year or 18 months before their contract They were worth right for your mowing pound and then you look at the summer there Join linstrom and bonne the barrisage And the managers pointed that out that that can't happen If they go into the final year a contract. See if you ain't going to sign you need to get sold Yeah And the model get the money that you're won But at least you're bringing some money back into the club. Oh, you can allow players To run out a contract now the model watched with arribo bassy and patterson, but that was it really wasn't it Um fluke come on was asked then today. What about this financial gap with seltie? But also right plan is gone. You're not going into the champions league. So how are you going to bridge the gap? It's not only about about money if that's a case that Everywhere in the world the team with the most money wins every year a title Of course it helps a lot and you see that there are financial differences and because of that you have a group of teams Winning a lot of things and other teams less that's also logic But it's our job to get the best out of the potential that is here And we work close last season because people maybe forget but we work close in that way It's about stepping up now with the new guys coming in with all the youth with all the young players And using that energy also to make an next step to let them gel together to Let them make connection together on the pitch of the pitch It's also a work to be done that we're busy with every hour of the day It's it's building a new squad that takes time also to get this connection between players And then the other side getting players back out of the long-term injuries and all those things So people working really hard in this building every day without any day of rest And the players also working really hard in the training and I see the evolutionals because at the end okay or You didn't qualify against Kiev, but it's not a fair result after after the two games And what happened there? If everybody everybody who saw the games against Partisan Belgrade knows what equality is they had The team did a lot of good things in that game Do we have some things to improve? Yeah, for sure Do we need more quality in the squads to make A next step also for sure everybody knows that but I know everybody's working really hard for that also Would you think that'll do for the Rangers fans but either what he just now? Will that help them understand? Yeah, but he's been honest They need players in and they need more quality in But it's going to cut down to one thing Paul Well a couple of things money and obviously players that are in the building Need to obviously leave but as I said it's easy saying that you you want them to leave Clubs need to want them That's the That's a difficult part Um, so as I said the next couple of weeks is going to be um It's going to be really interesting He's Brendan Rogers today also speaking about you know, let's transfer window time Uh, what can the Celtic fans expect to happen? Well, I think we have to listen I think for supporters But when you actually if you look at it from a supporters perspective, I think what they want from the club is two things I always think I think one Is your club well run So there's no doubt See, I think the club is super well run everything Organization very very good And two, I think supporters want to have the best team possible on the pitch That allows them to skip back to each game really excited about watching the team And I always think that's the challenge and that's our challenge to get to end this window too Of the very best team that we possibly can have on the field And that's what we want and that's what supporters want. So hopefully we can do that Well, let's say hope I want us to be able to do that Andy Yes supporters want to see good football. They want to be entertained Um, there's an obligation on seltics as a club just to just to fresh not all up Every supporter pays a lot of money for your Your season ticket We don't quite know yet, but the price will be for the champion league stuff But you'll get every seltics support of buying into it And yes, there's an obligation on seltics just to freshen it up and give them the best possible chance of of doing something giving them special memories I have no doubt that before the window's out seltics will do more business and um, you know, I'll see what I said earlier, you know having Adam Ida in an upcoming basis That takes you back to what you had last season and you should be trying to Add to that and I think every seltic supporter would say the same You mentioned Adam Ida. He's looking forward and maybe one of the reasons he wanted to come back to Glasgow was champions league Um, I think every young boy and every footballer wants to play In the champions league, it's the lead level of football and For me now to have the opportunity is is unbelievable. I can't wait to get going Obviously, we're going to be playing against top top teams by playing international football and playing against in the top level already So Obviously it's a new challenge for me, but it's I like a new challenge and I'm looking forward to it More calls coming next This is the gouradio football show listen anytime, whatever you get your podcast Let's go straight on to the lines reagan has been waiting there during the break good evening reagan Oh, it's good to be on thank you for having me again. Good to hear you buddy again and and the smiling too What you think it's an a reagan? I just want to talk about that say A seltic arrangement just went from i'm really disappointed again You know, I just feel like self-conventive Start to think about the the supporters of both teams as well. I feel it really and devalue in the product Squishable, you know, I just I'm doing disappointed I mean, I was looking forward to Pauline just coming to sell the park and all people want. So it's still in the program last night that Seltics should be the but I can't uh Plessed here. Yeah, oh, I've got different perspective on this because I feel like um Sky and his people a Said to both clubs that they need to do an agreement no foreign clubs nor willing to do the agreement the wedges what is being a Pro there then I can I mean I can totally agree, but I'm just I'm just really disappointed for both sets of supporters because I feel like um Just really devalues squish the ball, but yeah, I mean I mean because I'm good I mean for me for the great example I can tell you is and free free much a lot of us a season seltic go through in a lot and the whole place is So angry and you know, it's a it's not a good place to be no football fans kind of turning on themselves then and you know, they they get unhappy I agree with you Regan. You're right and somebody earlier said oh rage is escaping criticism here Well, I think I'd say to rangers explain why you cannot be ready for january. I don't understand it There might be a good reason Explain it and maybe seltic knew what the reason was and then decided to withdraw the places Personally, I think they should still say listen you're welcome But I hear what you're saying maybe Because pr wise the story this week is oh seltic have said no because rangers Won't allow them or be ready for them in january. Do you know what I mean Regan? So yeah And Brendan Rogers saying today is not it's not a seltic he said it's it's a rangers problem Just looking at the headlines one of the headlines here online. It's a rangers problem Now he's firmly putting it at the uh at the door of rangers I'd love to hear from both clubs at a very high level just to see and hear exactly what has been said and I think we can all agree that the spectacle is Is ruined it's devalued it dilutes the occasion when you want to sell Uh scottish football everywhere around the world, but um Yeah, it just seems to be what the clubs want and as I said earlier It seems as though they just cannot stand this site of one another Do you think that's the case barry would you agree with and do that they can't stand the site of each other or Could be a part, but I would love to see the reasons why This has been put to the side again But you you won't know until you hear from the powers above pole. That's why that's what people want to hear the reasons why This has came to this scenario And the people I feel most disappointed for are The most important people and that's the the supporters And it feeds into an artist of the one day that you know people sometimes come in here and they see YouTube together or john hearts and and craig more and they're amazed that the way oh sure you can argue and debate but You can talk laugh Beyond fear to ask any current player. What do you think of this? I mean? I think every player loves their home support clearly the the love, you know the the fact that there's an away support and You know you can use that to your advantage. Sometimes the the occasion the edge The the support you get from your your own club. I've mentioned that a million times you can put a yard on your stride You can get inspiration from on our way support because they're I don't know they're they're laughing and joking You know I against you that can inspire a lot of players. It's just a better occasion And uh, I would love to hear Exactly what was discussed between both clubs because we're guessing reagan. That's the problem And it feeds it feeds social media and it's you know, it's not a good atmosphere and we shouldn't have that Listen support the green and white or the red white and blue whatever love it But don't have this disrespect for each other. I think it's I think it's distinctly unhealthy. It's not good for us. It's not good for society and Glasgow and Scotland should be better than this I agree Regan on the football and also SPFL step forward Show some leadership and just tell them sort of out now and yeah sort of out and if Brendan are saying, you know It's a rangers thing and then okay rangers. What what's wrong? Why is this not sorted in time? Because we're only two weeks away from the game, but no we're now saying oh it will be next year It's pathetic to have them and talk sport about it the other morning. They were brilliant. They were saying what they talked about bald men fighting over a comb Because you know people are not interested in Scottish football, but they are when it's the big two the old firm the Darby I don't care what we call it. Honestly, we're at we're a bit of a laughing stock down south They're like what and there's baddie saying the number of players that came up over the years You'd see some of them you think well the up-to-see rangers They helped to see Celtic some of the biggest names in English football wanted to everyone asked me a boat and chef You're a native what what's had game like? Yeah, and you couldn't sell it enough for them. I need to go Yeah, I'll need to go of course. Yeah, they're from I had to get 25 tickets 10 for rangers end and 15 for the seltick and a vice versa They're desperate to see it because we'll see What happens in the TV and the TV um It's just sad Paul. Honestly, it's it's so frustrating and I can't see how it's ever going to get back to get back to the The standards it was before I just can't see it. Who were the biggest rangers fans that came up then? Biggest names and who are the biggest seltick of the players English players or is that unfair? Um, what's seltick? It's just even cast. It was the Republic Island International, I think even captain the public island. Yep. So yeah good pals, but came to game didn't never spoke to each other and when I was a ball and John McGinley who played for Scotland Alan Stubbs was there Jason Maiteo. He always wanted a little taste of it. Yeah when Rooney obviously didn't draw hardly. He was in the Big Joe. Yeah, see he's going to match of the day. It'll be good to get some good sense out of somebody on that one It will be good in the universe wasn't he? Draw? Big Joe. Yeah. Yeah, he speaks really well. Draw. Yeah, the exchange. Have a little Reagan, what about the football then before we let you go? What would you want to say? He doesn't town Matt I really might go What's on your mind tonight about seltick? Yeah And I don't know if seltick will sell Matt I really know that there's probably two things to go But yeah, I'm just a I'm hoping so to get to a few more players then I'll say that's in your program for this two or three years now. It's only that lit that a competition by Greg Taylor and probably down strike as well And and then we probably need some of the f-mart Aurelia does go up into it But yeah, I think somebody's squad is pretty strong and I think it's probably strong enough A right now to what to do there when scrolling but I think Brandon Rogers wants to do there when you're looking to know as well So now I think I think I'll be interesting to see For sure Brendan Rogers today was speaking About the game this weekend heads and if I can find it and they all play it and if not I'll pad which I'm doing At the moment. He's obviously been speaking big time about either Two strikers. No, I just can't see it Well when you go away from home east of road And then you've got them at home. You'd imagine they'll build on last week's fine one. Here he is Yeah, I think it's really It's it's good. I really enjoyed that the first time I was up here I felt it brought that brings a nice edge Early on in the season rather than to have to wait till later on in the season before you can win trophy So so yeah, I thought it was it was really good and It's an opportunity for you to to get your hands on a trophy, which is Again, it's been a great part of the history of this club. So we want to We want to challenge in every competition that we're in and obviously this is our first One here. So I'm I'm excited by the start now starting on sunday It probably will be Adamisa because kiyoga with that injury last weekend. He's certainly not going to miss the flight He's up here already Had nothing to do with me trying to leave it was just a genuine mistake for myself and I did apologize to an arch for that night. They know Didn't know I had nothing nothing to do with trying to leave the club was trying to force a move. It was it was nothing to do with that So um It was my fault and it got resolved pretty quick Yeah, it was clear though that he was coming but he said look it nothing to do with his desire to come back to Glasgow He said look yeah, I started well, but I can and will improve a lot. I think obviously the last couple of months working with Brandon It's been amazing and seeing what he can do and seeing what he's done previously with other players and From me looking at that. I think I can develop so much. You know, I know I know what I'm capable of and It's now time to put it all together and um Do the best I can work hard, you know, I know Brandon's got Great interest in me and it's just sticking together now and for sure And his connection with the club. He says it feels very strong It's like I said the connection I had with everyone, you know, not just the players and staff the fans make a big difference, you know I probably didn't have the best Best of treatment that that knowledge with the fans didn't have that connection and it does make a difference You know, you probably feel that small bit of added pressure going on to a pitch And then come in here, you know, they gave me the freedom they They gave me everything. So I want to give back as much as much as I am and Unfortunately, um, I did didn't that fight month periods. Um, yeah, it's huge He was saying guys that he was kind of mobbed in Los Angeles in the morning He met with but you've both of that, haven't you? You know, you go abroad and you find Celtic or Rangers fans everywhere Yeah, and normally it's very warm when you're um, you know pre-season for example Everybody's dead keen to see the team And uh, everyone's dead keen to see the Celtic team and how it'll look Just how it takes shape over the next couple of weeks before the window closes Barry, you get mobbed everywhere home or away Yeah Yeah, you went abroad Yeah, wherever you go. There's always Rangers or Celtic fans and I've got a bonus repo even if it's Celtic fans 99.9 percent of time. It's uh, it's good banner, which um Which is good to good to see Have you still bard graders calls? Are you taking them again? We're joking about that earlier in the weekend. We're even before you go to quick questions What says score line tomorrow rangers the defending holders of the league cap up against st. johnson And i'll go to the to go to rangers to go to the people and on sunday Celtic hubs Yeah, i'll go for for now to sell people Regan, thanks so much for your call all the best regan. She's regan She's regan Enjoy the weekends But i can't see anything other than that. I mean watching the game last week Look, I thought salted were Really good in the first half, but I don't know what Andi thinks i'm worried for abs this season Really worried for abs i was so disappointed And i saw them a couple of weeks ago when they played cinnamon and st millen had played in europe on the first day the game was in the sunday Pretty even first half, but as soon as simon got that first goal i felt hibs is were really weak They were really poor they had no fight about them And eventually simon ran out three no winners So the fact that they had seltic back to back after that was last week obviously and Regan's right i think so i can only see seltic winning this one and sunday quite comfortable Tamik manus in the paper today says the excel squad is not the perfect fit the size of the squad andi as you well know A huge squad now the manager dave great has had some money to bring in some new players But i mean it might it's almost like a chelsea dressing room at the moment Yeah, the young lad boogie who they got in he looks as well you might be decent they've got A good vent out the door who was cost a lot of money um, but yeah, there's what is there 14 15 players out of contract at the end of the season there is scope there to really turn the makeup of the squad around but What what are you going to do for this season and you always want Your big city clubs to be you know, not just pushing hearts for third place But are they good enough to give seltic to give rangers to give abardina a game and climb up that table But because they should do better last season was really tough they've had so many managers as well, haven't they? Yeah, it's just yeah far too many managers um And I hope dave great gets a bit of time paul, but you said a difficult start even in the uh recap section or what was it as a In the summer the Bad defeat to kelty hearts Um, so it's not been an ideal start but listen when he's come in his caretaker I think three or four times he's always done a really good job. So Hopefully they they get behind them, but after watching them a few fun this season unless he gets a A few guys out the dome a few new ones in John's asking what about the goalkeepers? Andi berry first of all cast bers michaels started well The next to nothing to do last weekend and for jack butlin so much hope and faith in him He's a really good goalkeeper. Um, but he must be scratching his head a bit berry We talked about this earlier in the week. He'd been speaking to some of the directors He's assured that you know the future there are plans solid plans for rangers because he has an asset big asset jack butlin's Yeah, and he's a big asset for the team. He's a leader paul. So it was nice to hear that. He's he's um, he's focused on This season ahead, but I watched him in tuesday night. I could see he was frustrated Frustrated certainly with the first goal the squad No closing down quicken off. Um But it was an important statement that he said that he's he's here and he's looking forward to the season in terms of cast berspico I thought that was seltics biggest One this season replacing joe because I thought Joe was was excellent for seltics. I brought in a real experienced campaigner Um, he was played at the highest level I thought it was a brilliant piece of business but seltic Big gloves to fill in the case that joe has i think he's capable and he'll be turned on at the prospect of just playing Champions League football and this new look format And then obviously trying to do big things when uh, you know seltic dominate most games And it's difficult for our seltic goalkeeper your level of concentration has to be so high When called upon uh, you know at some times you can go 10 15 minutes where We're needing to do anything but then you need to make a big save I think he's cut from the same cloth as the likes of joe heart. I think he'll do well and what do you feel about jack butland? He's he's got all the ability you want. I was just surprised at those comments. I don't know I don't know anyone who goes to uh You know a member of the board and say what what's your ambition that that's normally Um, I think we were on trips when the the board Travel he gets a chart when i'm on the on the plane. Yeah, it's not that he called him into I want a chart yeah what a chart in the board maybe it's x players you do like that you too. I can imagine you two question the manager No, big belly Yeah, I had some interesting calls with belly with a lot of what was it like? Well with a lot of good, uh, charts, but we don't with a few disagreements. Yeah, and um You know when frank left, I wanted him. I wanted him to sing uh Well, we always we always had a partnership So I wanted him to sing someone that That would be good for me when frank mackevenny left. Yeah. Yeah, and he's saying jack and offskie and jackie was uh He was a very good player. He was one of the most skillful players i've played with But he wasn't he wasn't our team player. No, and it was all about jackie. It was all about jackie all about jackie skill and you know You wanted him to to play for the team rather and playing for himself and that was for strain What was an employee dog check? Oh, yeah, that is not true. Yeah, two polish lads. Uh, I mean both of them I thought very good players. Yeah Barry can you up against the managers at the time because I you know as working the media big belly at times you could be brilliant You've always been expecting it for you. Yeah, of course Yeah, the manager managed and they said they said don't get as wrong as i've had a few fallouts. No one Obviously this one. Yeah, and it wasn't even a fall out. It was just a disagreement and that I couldn't accept it Uh getting beat off certain teams and no disrespect to the the teams But I just thought it was being acceptable at the time and I let it build up inside me paul and and let it all out one day and it came Got me a bit of trouble. Yeah, what was the advocate like with you and beforehand? We were talking about corner baron and alice has been on a big range of span on the social scene Barry who who helped you and looking at corner baron who's going to learn from just now? Uh first and foremost yeah corner baron. I thought I think he's done. Excellent. He's showing a brilliant attitude great energy Um taking the ball in difficult areas, which I like that shows me that he's got something about him I just I just think he needs a bit of help. He's running about too much and I get that that's an eagerness paul he got on the ball and And do his best. I just feel that sometimes he can just be in a certain area instead He's running 20 30 yards for for no reason at all. So that's something that It stood out for me when I've watched him don't get me wrong. I think he's done really well. I just think he needs He needs to learn the position now a bit better than that's where I think we're bringing an experience man fieldering That I think oh Progress has has game even further and for you how big was the Dutch influence under dick advocate? I learned so much Um again similarly what I was speaking about corner baron. I get pulled in and just thought I was doing I was running about too much to try and go on the ball, you know, it's like you're just trying to impress all the time And I learned so much paul. I've got a bonus where he was a fantastic coach but I wait for me learned so much the difference I did again The technical side it so Yes speaking about corner corner baron. I think if he learns Similar traits. I think he can be a really influential player for danger And it's part of that. I'm listening to you carefully let the ball do the work some of the time instead of you chasing everything Listen I get that he's wanting to run and get on the ball if he plays it to the right side He'll sprint 30 yards to get it and if he gets it back off her outside He'll fire over it left side. He'll sprint another 30 yards. Sometimes it's about just playing in your position and making Certain movements 5 10 yards instead of that 30 or 40 yards, but I love his attitude Wouldn't you want to take that out his game? That's a big part of his game, but Coming through our burden and over its like I've seen other players come from other clubs and They struggle sometimes with expectations and now the pressure I think the young man's handled it brilliantly and hopefully going forward Um, that's the case predictions next this is the gouradio football show listen anytime Whatever you get your podcasts Paul Kenny with Andy Walker and Barry Ferguson right the football kicks off in england tonight Man United up against full um the early game tomorrow if switch against Liverpool more importantly for us It kicks off tomorrow. It's the premier sports the league cup And it kicks off abadene against queen's park three o'clock tomorrow Who wants to start with that one when we spoke there about kind of baron? Andy and you look abadene. Jimmy tailene has made a good start six games No defeat some of them preseason. Yeah, I think yeah, I think they're they're looking good And uh, hopefully they can maintain this. I like to see the big city clubs doing well abadene It's just never a good look seeing them in the bottom half of the table I can't see them being there this time round. The fact that they've started the season so well I know they've lost my uh miyofsky Hopefully they can find a way of uh, you know getting other players in and still being Um, you know as effective. I think they'll take care of queen's park Callum Davidson what a record he's got in the cup as we know Yeah, no one would have done a brilliant draw for some johnson But the new manager jimnetelina abadene's certainly made an impact pole no doubt about it miyofsky's going to be a big miss, but that's another brilliant bit of business 6.8 marym pound I mean they've made a fair profit off of that But yeah, I just think with a start and the new manager's some new players I think abadene will be too strong for queen's park Good to see they're saying uh that all the money's going to go into the facilities or to buying players I mean Dave kormack for all his faults He's plowed big money into the club, hasn't he? Yeah, he's maybe uh got it wrong with managers who've been given a job when they've not really earned it But uh, he seems to have made a good start in this one and um abadene Abadene want to improve a great deal. There's no better way than uh, you know, making progress in the lique up Dundee against archery, so it's the dense parkers. What do you think? What a start. Yeah, that was a result for Dundee the weekend against hearts. Um, they brought us the density that coming We obviously hearts performance against rangers Tony dawker that he's done a brilliant job and it's always I think it's always most difficult setting season But look they've started off really well four points. I know this is in the cup archery big defeat against And he's all club areas united Um I think Dundee are going to be far too strong for for archery so Dundee went for me and he yeah another home win Erge I didn't expect I like every most people didn't expect them I knew it'd be a tough game at the United last week didn't expect them to lose by five But uh, you know, they will have a good season. I'm sure under east mckay, but Dundee. I think tomorrow too strong for Could have been upset. Well, they could At uh, the new brockville for cook against hearts andy. What do you think? No, I'm going for the house Just to bounce back from that horror show at daydens and a wee one It'll be a tough one. I expect Steven naysmith to get a reaction off his hearts players I think I'll be a tight one, but they'll just nick it. They'll go hearts Spartans or the spartons could be the one this could cause uh an upset. Yep. Do you think so? Yeah I do Wow because roske it'd be crushing for them when yeah, it would be but listen ash a tough Spartans Done a done really well last year getting into the playoffs. This is the only one I can see Yeah, being an upset So i'll go roske county No, I think it's could be a tight one. I think maybe spartons could no, no having a roske county or even They say the romance of the cup. They don't say that if you're the big team get pumped. Do they? Um, we'll come back to the big teams um Let's go. We'll leave rangers for the moment. We're going to play a bit more from philip come long And Dundee and iter again sent meringue. So and nearly said that sent meringue andy they were five minutes away from extra time Last night so but we know they're out stuff for them and then they got two tannidys. What do you think sundae? Yeah, you just wonder how the travel will affect them and um, you know, they did well against hibs when I saw them recently I like the look of sent meringue. I think i'm going to go for a score draw here So depending who wins a penalty shoot i'll go for some meringue. Right. So Jim good went up against his old side berry. What do you reckon? I'm going to go Dundee and iter if something didn't have the the game in in thursday night or last night Should i say, um, i would have went miss a month. This is going to be another close one I think Dundee and iter will just nick it Well, but mother well against komano so same story but a different score line and i know you want to say again What a bit killy fantastic tromzo. Yeah I'm going to go model Right. I'm going to go model because you obviously say again thursday night I just think cinnamon and command, not squads are not big enough Take hope with these these games straight after so Yeah, i'm going to go there well Different budgets for the clubs that you played with but how much does it take out if you're playing Thursday night away from home in europe? Yeah, i would imagine both steve is robinson and daira mechanis So probably put out roughly the same start in 11 paul. I don't think they'll be many changes Well, they're coming from a big high I mean that to get through the european tie is a huge bonus for everyone that come on up But back to reality for part mother will want to meet an impact. They've got home advantage I'll go mother will mow in club. Yeah, of course you're going forward the well At rangers then in action five forty five systrange time Barry isn't it? I know it's for television tomorrow. Yeah, I get that but it's as a strange time But listen your holders You need to go and you need to run over the top from they need to start in the front football And what they need to do is get a reaction off the the fans and the and the stands Whether that's a winning your first tackle winning ahead that get that first pass away paper the st. johnson go That's the sort of performance i'm want to see if you're rangers tomorrow Let's hear from the manager. He said look despite all the noise things he feels behind the scenes are getting better There are so many things going on here That is better and better. I see the work in the performance staff or in the medical staff It's it's much better than last season. I see these young guys developing if I see connor baron playing now compared already with last season And there are a lot of things Going on and and we need to fight every week every three days Really hard to get results and like this is it will become better and better because the potential is here and like I said at the end of the last season it was end of a cycle with several players who are They were over their top They had their best period here and they were really important for this club and they did great things Although the fans were also not happy about that period because it was not enough trophies So we had to do Something different something fresh something new some new talents in to make it better else So that's what we're doing and we're going to continue the and the huge game tomorrow. What do you think is going to happen at hampton? I think range is a win, but I think it's just a difficult Lying to go down when you talk about the improvement of the performance department and the development of players and the I don't know what else maybe the sports science is a lot better and I'm sure it is But the supporters are really only interested in results and while all that might be improving You may improve on the pitch and you need to bounce back from a disappointment during the week. I do think rangers Will have too much for st. Johnston, but What he was talking about there is it's just a hard sale. I think it is. This is a tough place for him Barry, what do you think is going to happen? You'll be there tomorrow. Yeah, the only thing they support us Came about as absolute thumps and joins in tomorrow. That's it Rangers need to win score line. Would you reckon I'll go I I'll go to an old rangers. You reckon two nail rangers And they'll be hoping a big crowd comes tomorrow for because there were gaps the other night Barry But you know saturday afternoon early evening summertime You'd hope for 40,000 at hampton. Yeah, I would hope for a decent turnout Yeah, I don't know how the ticket sales have went baller. I'll be honest with you But yeah, I expect I'll figure out the hampton So we'd expect rangers to go through and then on sunday Celtic up against herbs. Adam either will probably start Okay, I said before I'm here to play games regardless of if I'm starting or if I'm coming off the bench The mentality here and this group is unbelievable. You know everyone wants to win Doesn't matter who's playing who's starting everyone supports each other and I'll be the exact same this season It's not about how many games are going to start from me. It's it's winning games and scoring goals So and a big crowd at Celtic or on sunday three o'clock kickoff. What are you expecting to see? I'm expecting to see Adam either start. I'm expecting A huge welcome from the Celtic supporters towards him. I'm expecting a a home win and uh, I think the biggest thing from last week that It's just amazing that it only finished two now for Celtic thought they played really well As Barry was saying they let they looked sharp They moved the ball about really quickly Good number of threats going forward and I can only see a more convincing victory on sunday than they had last weekend Reagan thought forward. What do you think? Yeah, that's a good number. I'll go for four. I'll go with Reagan's shirt. Barry. What do you feel? Yeah, three or four now Celtic far too strong. I think cibs I'll come They'll try and set behind the bone for a straight, but i know a Celtic far too strong easy one for Celtic Both of you. Thanks so much for joining us this evening. Thanks everyone who's on the calls and the comments We're back on monday night mark. We will be here with Barry and with me at five hub of brilliant weekend. Enjoy the game This is the go radio football show listen live week nights from five on go. Let's go
