(upbeat music) Now back to the Pete McMurray show. Here's Pete and Lisa. (dramatic music) - Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. - I could get it, it's okay. - What brings you to these parts? - Well, you just never know when a rare story will break. - Not much of a story here, just a bunch of kids cutting it loose. - Then what are you doing here? - Just keeping an eye on things. - Dewey Riley bought the farm and screamed five that bummed me out so we won't be seeing David Arquette in the movie franchise anymore. But he's in a new movie, starring alongside Nick Jonas and Elizabeth Hsu in the movie The Good Half. Let's say hello to David Arquette. How are you, man? - I'm good, Pete, but don't feel so bad for me. I bought an actual farm and I have a bunch of animals now. - Oh, that's so awesome. - It's the best. - Why would you buy a farm? - Because he's annoying. - My wife loves animals. I love animals, so it's really fun. - I mean, Lisa has two dogs. I have one dog. When you say you love animals, that means if you bought a farm, you love cows. - Yes, we have two cows. We don't have many sheep. We have like 18 animals, yeah. - Chicken. - Yeah, we have mini horses, mini donkey. It's so much, but it's silly. - Bose, you can check them out and bose those barnyard on Instagram. - I'm gonna have to because this isn't tricking me. - Oh my God, that is so funny. I never thought we'd be talking about a farm with David Arquette. - Bring it back, Pete. Bring it back. - It's not the best. - Yeah, okay, yes, that was about the stream. Yes, I was very sad about doing dying, but life goes on. - Let's talk about The Good Half. I feel like we've had everybody from this movie on the show, your director, my girlfriend, Elizabeth Shoe. Now you, did you even have a scene with Elizabeth Shoe? - She was in flashbacks, but we had one scene that was a flashback together. And it was wonderful, the word, but we had worked together before. Someone reminded me on a film called Hamlet Two. - Hamlet Two, I got to Google that later because I am just even worried and intrigued that I am by the farm animals. - It's incredible. - Steve Cookens in it, it's a really hilarious film. - I was, of course, knowing we were going to talk to you today about this movie. I wanted to track how it was doing online and great reviews on rotten tomatoes and everything, but Reddit is really where I go for the info. And someone who saw the film 20 days ago said, as someone who has experienced parental loss, it really captured the family dynamic well. Nobody knows how to move forward right away. Everyone is stuck, it's awkward, it's comical, it's devastating, it's life. Really great film. So congrats on that, man. - Wow, thank you, that's so sweet. I too checked Reddit for everything, do you really? - Yeah, well, yeah, there was something posted where I'm trying to bring happy clowns back and then I read some of the Reddit comments and although I feel like I'm a Redditor 'cause I read it so much and like stay up, they devastated me, they tore it to me. - Oh yeah, I typically don't read comments for that reason, but yeah. - We're talking with David Arquette. I wanna ask you about your sister Patricia for a second. She is such a great actress, man. Escape at Dan Amora. Did you watch that series and call her up and say, you might as well go get the Emmy right now. She is so good, man. - Yeah, she was incredible in that. I'm completely impressed by her skill. - I have such talented people in my family, and my sister was on as well. - Yeah. - My brother Richmond, so an Alexis who we lost, but yeah, I mean, I feel very fortunate to know them all and there was one scene in that movie specifically when she was like, you know, all drugged up or something. It was just like, oh, so good. - I mean, every award ceremony, there she is, like in the first three rows, which means she's gonna win. - Imagine playing Pictionary at their house. Like all the families together, let's get out of all the world-class actors and climb out some stuff. It's amazing. - Oh, that's her brains. Like she's trying to amp it up. Someone's trying to get an award. - What is that like when the arcettes get together? Is it just pure chaos? - No, I mean, we've done a lot of growing, but when we were growing up, it was like a little more hectic. It was a lot of comedy and tragedy every day, laughing, crying, screaming. - And I got to ask you about Dewey Riley. I mean, I can't believe you're dead. - I know. - I know they bring you back somehow. I mean, seriously. - I know, I know. I'm still grieving over it. - Did you do all five screams? Did you do all five? - I did. I did five of them. - Okay, yeah. - And it was amazing. - I mean, I got to work with West- - That's a lot of screaming. - That is, that's a lot of screaming. - I got to work with Wes Craven four times, and then the fifth one was without him. And I was supposed to die in the first film, and Wes kept me alive. - Really? - He loves so much. - Yeah, it was really sweet to be able to work with him. - And before you go, your daughter Coco, I think is the same age as my son, Charlie McMurray. He's 19. Is she right around there? - Yeah, she's 20, but yeah. She's incredible. She's going to college and we're just so proud of her and she's so talented and, you know, she's just a wonderful person. So at some point you just look at your kids and you're like, are they good people? Are they kind? You know? - Right, yeah. - Did I mess with her? - No, no. - You just never know. - You never know. - It's really a toss of the dice. That you could do everything right in your kids to could still be a lunatic. So whoa! - Yeah, I know, but you know. - That's a bullet! - It's also, you know, I don't know. You don't want to like, being a parent's heart, you know? - Yeah, yeah. - Just navigating. - I hope you don't like, you know. - You're all growing together. - Yeah, exactly. - That is so true. And you wonder how our parents did it. They just made it up as they went along. That's what we're figuring out. - Yeah, I get more and more like, oh, I feel such empathy towards them. Like, I know I must have been like, the wildest, like craziest. 'Cause I settled down a lot. And I know like, I figured myself out a lot more. And I'm not as like, mannequin or like, you know, I'm like super energy, like, ah! Just, I tend to like, have a lot of empathy towards what they must have had to go through. - Of course. Well, the movie is called The Good Have. David Arquette, man. Thanks for taking the time. We really appreciate it. - Hey, thank you. - Pete and Lisa. - More The Pete McMurray Show next.
