We've done your homework. Hey, what's happening in San Diego and welcome into another week of Gwen and Chris on Sandy Goes Number One Sports Talk Station 97-3. Happy Monday to you. That's right. Enjoy your Mondays. Remember, it's one seventh of your life. So you might as well enjoy it to its fullest. And to that end, we plan a very good show for you this afternoon. And we'll be rolling until about five 30. Then our partner in crime here, Matt Scrabie will take over with the Padre Pregame Show. All leading up to tonight's broadcast between the Padres and the Minnesota Twins, and the Major League Broadcasting debut of one Sam Levitt. Can we get a round of applause for Sammy today? I mean, I'm really excited for him. Tony Gwen Jr. and Jesse will be moving over to U Television tonight. But Sam is getting the big shot tonight to do the ballgame. I can't wait to listen to him. I know he'll do a great job. And Tony, I think, you know, before we get into the Padres and stuff, but the thing with Sam, we all realize here's a guy that did minor league baseball in God knows what cities. I know he's in it. I know he finished up in Amarillo. But before that, he he was in a bunch of different outposts. And now he's done the Padre Pregame Show for three or four or five years. Today's getting an opportunity to kind of live out his dream and do a big league ball game. Hopefully it's the first of many. But my point is to all of you out there, whatever it is you're dreaming about, don't be afraid to put in a little work, put in a little work. Sometimes you get rewarded tonight. It's good to see our guy Sam Levitt getting rewarded. He's excited as he should be. Yeah, he's taking the same path that most guys in these seats have to take. So it's earned. He gets a couple of cracks at it. And we all wish him the best. You will do well. What Sam went through all that. No eagle did not. So Sam has worked very hard thoughts. Now you're ripping on Noah Eagle because you sure know he didn't really know that you just think that I and Eagle gave him a job. I don't. If I'm I and Eagle, if I'm I and Eagle, I wouldn't come on the show ever again. Because you said that. Yep. I would. I would. I would. I would just say anything about his dad. Well, yes. Talk about his certain thing is not going to affect the dad. What's wrong with you, man? Yeah, that's pretty stupid. Dumb. And you know what's funny? What's funny last Thursday Friday? We didn't have any comments like that. Everything was nice and smooth running. But you're right. We didn't have any comments like that. He is back after a few days off. And obviously we before we make too much more fun of you. We hope that you had a an okay weekend. I know it was a difficult one. You went to your grandfather's funeral services up north. So yeah, we we do welcome you back. Thank you. I do want to get all of that in and then everything went okay. Yeah, we good on there like you you're doing all right. Oh, yeah, I'm doing I'm doing all right. I mean, it was one of those things where well, first, he actually passed away on May 14th. So we had a little bit of time to all kind of do you May 14th of this year? Yes. Oh, good. We could. We couldn't get maybe you waited like a couple of years. If you waited six, seven months, you know, why why hurry? Yeah, I don't know. We had to find a date that worked for everyone who was able to fly in and all this stuff. So we did my grandpa. There were some stories that came out of this weekend that I've never heard before. And it's just it's fun to actually get to celebrate him instead of being so sad. You know, I've been I've been to funeral for my grandparents where it's like five four or five days after their death. And it's just really sad. No one's up for joking, but we're all joking having a good time. So yeah, very good. I'm glad that you're back glad that you're feeling well now that we've gotten out the way could you get on your job and put me on the chat like with everybody else. I'm just sitting in this backstage waiting room for you to allow me to join. Hey, guys, how's everybody doing? Hey, hi Tony, looking very sharp out there today. Very nice. And you're Tony Gwen's senior t-shirt looking very sharp. You know, the good thing part about working TV is I can show up in a t-shirt because I know I'm going to put a suit on it. I'm going to have a suit on. Why is Tony Gwen senior hitting a beach ball on that t-shirt? Because that's what it looks like. Yeah, to him. See the idea. That's a great shirt. That is the idea. That was the idea that for him that looked like a beach ball. All right. Very good. I forgot to mute Tony once again. Adam's in in the Adam always helps us because I forget. Oh, well, you know what? Adam could have used your help quite a bit there, buddy. I must say waiting department. Oh my gosh. Hot mics. Almost every show for long periods of time. And thankfully I was on my best behavior. You usually are. It's me that gets crazy. Yeah, no, we we definitely were getting the chat. The chat was our helpline. They were the ones letting us know. Hot mike. Hot mike. Like all through the chat. I was getting texts from my wife. Her friends were texting her. Oh, yeah. We had hot mics going for 10 minutes, I think. It was like the whole break at one point. This makes me this fills me with anxiety, even though it's in the past. It's like the time that we couldn't get the the feed to close when we were at Spiro's that one time and I and someone heard me just yelling yelling out to the engineers. Yes, I've already tried restart. Yeah. Scrabie gets on rewind stuff like that. It's when the pressure builds and his anxiety builds. Yes. You don't want to be on the other end of one of those phone calls. The first thing I do is restart the computer because I know you're going to tell me to restart the computer. Yeah. Well, you tried that on Wednesday night. How'd that work for you? Oh, isn't this great? Oh, Mr. Oh, isn't this great? I forgot about that. Yeah. We're going to need to be we're going to need that button like right next to you. That one handy. All right. They got to pull this up real. Yeah. Okay. I forgot that was that wasn't as frustrating though because during the Scrabie show, I feel like people are listening to have fun and everybody seemed to be having a good time with my play by play of control, all delete and okay, this is it working and then me texting Adam on the air. So yeah, we Chris and I definitely could feel your skin crawling as it was happening in real time. Like as we were watching it, as Adam was replaying it for us and we were watching, I was uncomfortable for you at that point. There was a certain amount of Oh, God, what do I do? What do I do? And then and then I realized, you know, Adam said this to me on the phone after which is so true. I had everything planned to talk about for 15 minutes and I needed to go to break and I it's like I had nothing else I could have said. I couldn't just kind of talking about what I was talking about. For those, by the way, that don't we should recap a little what happened to you. You went to a commercial break on Wednesday night when you were in here alone during doing the Scrabie Chronicles. So there's nobody else in here. You're running the board and doing the show. Yeah. And when you want to push the button to play all the commercials, the board just gave out and just die. You were like still on the air with no commercials and no way to play one. Nothing. And you were looking into the camera like, I am clueless. I have no way. And then you and then you uttered those famous words. Oh, isn't this great? Oh, isn't this great? Yeah, pull this up real quick. But we have that. That was actually a fun thing. If you missed it, you can go to my Instagram because it's on there at Matt Scrabie. Yeah, that was quite a moment for you. But anyway, we've all survived everything even just great ever just great everybody. Keep that handy. Keep that handy. We all survived that we all even somehow survived. We're all here today smiling. The sun is shining after losing two of three to the Rockies and the Padres. Of course, Tony have their streak of winning eight consecutive series ended by who else? The Colorado Rockies, they have just been a thorn in our side all year. And they were this weekend. I, you know, I did the pre and the post on Friday night. I thought the Rockies played a pretty good game. They made some great catches, some big defensive plays. They pitched like they never pitch yesterday. So I mean, I don't know that the Padres have to be, you know, upset, too upset about it. It was bound to end at some point. But I guess I'm not surprised that the Rockies were the ones to end it. Listen, I don't think anybody should be surprised. I mean, we said the moment you and I talked first game of that series that you just can't, you can't predict anything. It's been nice to where the Padres have played and all that. But for whatever reason, when you walk into that building, it's all bets are off. Like you just you can't predict how that series go, especially if you have a Padres uniform on because the Rockies play some of their best baseball when they see the brown and gold show up to their to their building. They did. They pitched it wasn't just at the starters pitch again. The bullpen, which has been one of the worst in baseball. It is the worst in baseball make no mistake about it. They're like a run worse ERA than every other team. They pitched like they pitch like they were they were a bonafide back in bullpen. All of a sudden Tyler Kinley looked like Mariana Rivera in the eighth inning and Victor Vodnick looked like Trevor coming into Hell's Bells in the ninth. How was going on? Facts. Facts. It was it was and listen, I mean, the Padres for the most part, I thought offensively had opportunities yesterday. They only had four. So that might have been, you know, one of the only ones they did in the pre two previous games. They had a ton of opportunities. They went over eight the first game and four double plays in that first four double plays. They bounced back to second game. They go four of 12, had some big hits. And then, you know, as often the, you know, that that what is the phrase they use when just one one. And you need to win the last game in order to win the rubber game. The rubber game. There you go. And oftentimes in those rubber games, best of all getaway days, they tend to be tighter games. At least it seems like in the Padres made the one mistake, Peralta, unable to handle that ground ball. The runner ends up advanced since 30 ends up scoring on the next play that ended up being the difference in the game. And, you know, it's just, it's one of those things. Whatever reason the Rockies had the Padres number. Yeah, they went eight and five against the Padres this year, which is just ridiculous when you consider that there's seven and 23 against the rest of the NL West. You know, but it is what it is. It's been a, it's been a season full of a lot of surprising things. We've run them down, you know, practically on a daily basis from pro far to, you know, hagash yoga to Jackson Meryl to everything else that is Waldron, you know, to Suarez, sorry, but to everything that's happened that has been kind of, you know, pleasantly surprising and winning the season series over the Dodgers and winning, you know, what 19 out of 23 games for the first time in franchise history. So I guess losing to the Rockies just kind of goes along with the theme of this year. And, you know, I don't think you get too down about it. Now the key thing is you come home, you got to, you know, pretty good home stand here. The twins are good. The Mets are good. And, uh, I'd like to, uh, like to turn it right back around starting tonight and to that end, it's Michael King's turn. So yeah, Mike King's turn. This is a pretty good twins team though. They're coming off of almost completing a four game sweep. Um, are almost getting swept, I should say, by the Rangers. But this is a good ball club. And I'm going, I was going through some of the offensive guys. They got some, some guys in there are similar to what we've seen this year from our time, right? Carl is great. It comes with mine. Guys, he's in 308, but he's got nine homers, 48 RBI. So he's not the power isn't there. The average is up. They got a couple guys like that on their team where power is is down or I guess for for what they normally do. But the average is up. And so, um, it'll be interesting to see how this this series rolls. I got some pretty good pitching. They got a good closer at the back end. Um, Padres got to come to play for short. He's next two series. I mean, you got the twins coming into town. You got the Mets. So for whatever low that you can people will want to say they had, um, they'll have to get right back to it here today. Yeah, the twins are similar to the Padres in a lot of ways, not the least of which is the record. The Padres are 70 and 55. The twins are 70 and 54. So they almost have the same record. Here's another way. They're almost identical. Tony, the Padres and the twins both have seven different players in double figures and home runs. And you look at the twins there. I mean, there's a bunch of guys that the average baseball fan doesn't know about, but Trevor Larnack, 12 home runs. Uh, let's give me, uh, Ryan Jeffers, 19, Willie Castro, 10, Royce Lewis. We've heard a little about him because of the Grand Slams, but 15, they're a lot like the Padres. They can spread it all up and down the lineup with that. Royce Lewis is a stud. Yeah, he is. Yeah. First route pick. Yeah. Out of first number one pick from 2017 draft. Uh, this dude can play. He hasn't been healthy. Um, uh, for, you know, he's been heard a little bit in his start at the big league level, but he came on the scene in that playoff last year when he was going, Hey, all right, just before the playoffs, uh, this is, this is a good team. This is a good team for sure. But, uh, Padres just got to focus in on doing what they do, playing how they play. Yeah. We'll try to get off to a good start tonight. As said, Michael King, we'll start it. Sammy Levitt will call it, but it's all coming up a little bit later on this Monday afternoon. We will talk some twins. Phil Miller from the Minneapolis Star Tribune will join us. We'll get the latest on this week's opponent. We also have some fun stuff today for you, including a fair or foul segment that in itself might land in foul territory. So stick around for that coming up a little bit later on. Our regular features, uh, the daily gambit, the big five, Christopher's the fans. It's all coming your way with Chris Sellow, Tony Gwen Jr. and Matt Scrabby, Gwen and Chris, San Diego's number one sports talk station, 97 three, the fan. We all belong outside. Homes.com, we've done your homework. Before we went to Craig, I had it right the first time and then I'd second guess myself. Twins are coming off taking three or four from the Rangers, not the other way around. As I said, Padres, with their hands full, welcome back to Gwen and Chris Tony, Gwen Jr., Chris Sello. Matthew Scrabie, I had to think for a second because I'd had been plugging Adam's name in there past week. Oh man, we've had Philan's galore for Scrabie here. Are you about done traveling now or do you have a couple of trips? I'm certainly happy that you finally started using some of your off days. We couldn't get you out of this place to save our life, even when you were sick. We used to beg for you to leave. Yeah, you sick, coughing on us sometimes, you just kept coming on in. Gave me COVID one time. I didn't know I had COVID. I wasn't even feeling the symptoms yet. Didn't he get you, Chris? He took you down. Yeah, no, I didn't take you down. Only time I got it. Only time I got it are that you know love because yeah, that you know. So kudos to you, man, for taking some time off. It was much deserved. We are definitely happy to have you back. Thank you. I'm happy to be back. I have so many. I feel like my job security is much higher with you on the ones and twos than Adam flew. Well, apparently so since Adam was trying to get you fired by leaving your mic off. Well, hey, I'm going to be about on this. For the most part, Tony turns his mic on and off. So I don't know. No, no, I don't. I don't. That's the thing is just do it and like you do it. I was telling Adam when when I was telling him it was all good. I usually go to turn my mic off and by the time I go to turn it off when we're done, you've already turned it off most often. I don't even think you know you're doing it. It's just habit. I've gotten into habit of not really reaching my hand over there anymore. And then it almost it almost came back to get your boy last week, man. I was yeah, it was scary at time. All right. Podra is scary. Twins. Injury update. Now, I'm pretty sure Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton are both I yelled right now, which is probably a good thing for the Padres. We don't have any word as of yet on Hosun Kim left yesterday's game after jamming his shoulder. And you know, typically, if I'm being honest, you know, typically when Hosun gets gets hit up a little bit, you know, I kind of don't pay much attention because usually he's down on the ground for a little bit. And he's back in the game. But this particular case, once I started seeing him sprint towards a dugout, I was like, Oh, man, that's yeah, that's not a good thing right there. So it's not a good sign. We don't have any word yet on what his health is like. And how if if he is going to miss time, what does that didn't look like for the Padres infield? There's a couple of things on this. Number one, this is a big significant deal, right? I mean, Hosun Kim is even though he hasn't played a gold glove caliber shortstop this year, he's probably still the best option to play shortstop. If he weren't, they would have already put somebody else there. So while you can look at the roster and say, yeah, we got a million shortstop just plug anybody in there, they might be able to put Cronan worth it short and arise at first. They could move Zander out. Well, they could do a bunch of different things. Yes. But is the infield defense going to still be as good as it is with Hosun Kim out there? And I think the answer to that is probably no. So that is why I think it's a significant development. You know, so let's just wait and see. I think the other thing is, is Mike Shilt is going to speak to the media in about an hour. And I'm pretty sure that'll be the first question. And I'm also pretty sure that I'm taking a guess and I'm not meaning to poke fun at Mike Shilt. But I'm pretty sure he'll he'll be pretty vague in the answer. Because the Padres are always kind of vague in these injury answers, I must say. So I don't expect to find out the exact he'll be out 11 days. Like, I don't think we're going to get that. You know, I just don't think we're going to get the ring. I think we're just going to be wondering a little bit after this. But I think he's going to be missing some time and just looked that way, Tony. It really did. I hate to say. I hope I'm wrong. So yeah, I'm not a doctor. So I'm not going to guess. I think, you know, the fact that he came out certainly is something he doesn't normally do, you know, he normally is stays in the game and, you know, finishes it out. So the fact that he did come out, yeah, may say that it might be something else to miss time. My guess is we'll get a good answer from Mike Shilt today in terms of what happened. If he has to miss time, we'll find out because they certainly will maybe give him a day to see if it if he not in the lineup. They'll certainly give him a day to see if it can improve a little bit. But if not, you know, he can go on the IL and you can get somebody up to in his spot. But he may not get the sense. I have the feeling that he's not going to miss a lot of time and he may not miss a game. So we'll find out. I hope you're right. That could be the why the lineup is not out at this point because they're going to wait to see how he feels coming in today. So we'll certainly see Joe Musgrove made his second start of the season yesterday or now of the season since he's returned from the IL through the ball pretty good. It looked like he got a little fatigue there at the end, started losing command. And I think that's when Shilty decided to make the move. But you know, another day, another game in which velocity was up. Spin was really good. He's still cleaning up. I'm sure some of the command things that he liked. But all in all, I think another good performance for from Joe Musgrove. Thumbs up, thumbs up from Joe. And I know he wants to go deeper into the game, but it's not quite ready yet. So yeah, these are good things. I mean, getting Musgrove in this rotation on a consistent basis can only be good news for the Padres. And if you look at the bigger picture of the weekend, I think that's part of the bigger picture. So yeah, I mean, I'm happy with that. I'm a little concerned, you know, about short. But like you said, if that to me, if Hassan even asked him as 10 days or a week, I think they're okay. But I think if they got to go quite a ways without Hassan Kim, I think it's going to overall affect the quality of their defense in the infield. And I think that that is a big deal. The infield, how much how much they can affect the defense, though? I mean, how much? We're talking about you're going to give up a run a game now? What were we talking about? Yeah, two runs and inning, Tony. Two runs. See what Hassan Kim War is. This war is pretty big. I don't know. I think it's two something this year. Two something. Yeah, I just don't think that I don't think they have a shortstop that can cover as much ground side to side as in 2.9 or so. I do think that there will be it will be, you know, I think there'll be some balls that that he normally gets to the, you know, Croninworth or whoever plays shortstop, Tyler Wade, whatever they're going to do is not going to get to. So yeah, I do think they'll be, you know, not a big noticeable difference, Tony, but over time, I think those little things can add up a little. So I worry. That's just my lot in life. I worry about this. I mean, I certainly think we're a better defensive team would come in, but I don't know that his defense this year has been on the same level as it was last year, which really set them apart from everywhere. I think the Padres are good. I think they're in a position to be able to absorb this. If it's for 10, they can handle 10. If it's for 20, they can handle 20. But, you know, it would build different if, if Hosung's offense was at the level that it was last year and his defense. You're talking about missing a big piece. I think the guys with this team has shown this year is that when a big piece goes down on Bogarts, a Machado at like 50 percent, whoever it may be, a toddy, they got guys that fill in and hold the fort down. And they've lost some bigger pieces, I think, at times this year, including the pitching staff that, you know, for all year, they've been able somebody has stepped up. And I would expect because this is what I consider a good team, good team, find ways to fill those gaps. So, certainly you don't want to miss a guy like Kim, he's a vital part of this team. I don't think that's in question. But this team, unlike, I think, any team that we've seen in the four-year run of being competitive, this team can absorb it better than any other team that this Padres organization has had in that last four-year. Well, there's no question that you acquisition of a rise at the beginning, you know, which gave them an extra piece in the infield is a huge thing here. And the fact that Solano has been so good that you've almost been looking for a way to get as bad in the lineup, well, this would obviously open up a spot for him in the lineup. So, you're absolutely right, Tony, they're well equipped to deal with this. But I don't think any of us want to see them go, you know, too far forward at less than full strength because we want the best version of this team, you know, to head into September. And, you know, let's just see what we, what we hear on Hassan when we hear, we'll let everybody know. Well, what we can tell you is that he is not in the lineup tonight. Okay, we're going to get the break. Should we get the lineup now or should we give it now? Okay, we can't wait another minute. I really can't actually, you can't wait another minute. Go ahead, Mr. Mr. All is the same except for Peralta. And so you got your first five, first six, all the same. Arise pro far chrono worth Machado Bogart's Merrill Peralta. That's pretty much the same. And here's where the rub is Higashiyoka hitting eighth, Tyler Wade hitting ninth playing short. So that will be the first lineup thrown out there. Today for the twins. As I said, you, you don't have a corre, you don't have a bucks in Castro, Larnick, Lewis, Walner, Santana, Kepler, Julian, Vasquez, Martin. It sounded like a law firm to me. The twins. I didn't, I didn't recognize those twin names on. I think the sheriff might be on the aisle too. Shocker. Oh, that's not very. You're so mean. You were just so mean, you're always looking for an opportunity to, to ding these guys. Your face, your face said it all too. For those who were watching the YouTube feed, Shocker. No, you just did my face. That's a, let's go to break. When we return, Minnesota Star Tribune gets us a little more acquainted with this Minnesota twins waster and we're going to Chris on the other side. Shopify.com/AudicyPodcast Congratulations out there to me and congratulations out there to Scrappy. Why you ask? Both of us qualified for our fantasy baseball league playoffs which starts again. Scrappy took the number three seed and the first round I took the number four seed. You finished one game ahead of me in the standings we were supposed to as of last week be the four five and which we would have matched up in the first round Tony and that would have created some havoc around here. First of all congratulations to both of you. I think I love the fact that Chris was like goaded into being in this league and he's the fourth seed I'm the fourth seed. He's in the playoffs he's representing just like he should. Now he just needs to recap it and go ahead and win the whole game. I would like to win it all and I would like to beat Scrappy in the final. Oh that would be great. But the champ is over here. Yeah at the moment. At the moment we'll see. You know Trevor who I'm matching up in the playoffs. He's our fantasy baseball commissioner. He texted I can't wait to beat you like I should have beat you in the finals last year. Oh this is a rematch of last year's final. Yeah how did that work out for you. Champ is over here. This could spell doomsday for you buddy. I know. And as usual I'm sorry I brought it all up in the first place. Anyway congratulations to us. We are in the fantasy baseball playoffs. One more quick fantasy tight note here. Scrappy once again has got everybody or a chance for everybody to sign up to play in our NFL survivor pick them league. This is out after week one I think last year I think you were after week one Tony. There's no there's no gambling involved here. You just go on you sign in and you get a chance to play the survivor and you know stay alive as long as you can. I don't know what we had last year there was a limit on how many people could get in. But this year according to Scrappy no limit. No we can just have everybody out there listening. You want to be part of our survivor league have some fun. You can do it. But tell them how they where they got to go. Yes I'm going to post if you go to ninety seven three the fantasy you can see it's also I'm going to post on Twitter right now for the actual link to it. All right so make sure you join that you got you got a little time obviously the season doesn't start for a couple more weeks. But you know we want everybody to get signed up and get in our fun survivor league. I'm sure Tony will get in there. I'm already in Scrappy's in. I got been casing my neighborhood got a lot of my friends and people there. Yeah I'm getting everybody in. So good. There's a you know there's always some good bragging rights at hand there. So make sure you get signed up for a survivor league. Now let's go out to Phil Miller who is very nice enough to join us here from the Minneapolis or the Minnesota Star Tribune. Is it the Minnesota Star Tribune or Minneapolis Star Tribune. As of yesterday it's the Minnesota Star Tribune. As of yesterday they really renamed it. They renamed it yesterday really. Yes we're rebranding to to try to be more statewide. Okay. So yeah we've got we've got t-shirts and everything. I'm sure the people in the outpost of Minnesota are going to be pleased that they are more included in the Star Tribune coverage. Phil thank you so much for joining us. Twins are here in San Diego. I look at these teams. I see a lot of similarities not only the record. I see the fact that the twins have seven different guys with double figure home runs. I think the Padres have the same which tells me in a not a lot of 40 50 guy home run guys but everybody with you know 15 to 20 tells me everybody in that lineup is dangerous and you know is that is that kind of what we should be looking for here? Well it tells you that a lot of them are hurt. The biggest thing is the biggest news with the twins and you know they're not the only team like this but three of the I don't know six best players are on the injured list and are not here. Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton are out of the lineup and Joe Lyon is out of the rotation. So the kind of it's quite remarkable to be still in the race but yes their lineup has some surprising punch in it. I saw Carlos Santana was washed up and spring training and I couldn't understand why they signed him. He has been the spark behind his team the last couple of months and you know they're just they're getting good play. Ryan Jeffers has a career high 19 homers. They're getting good play from surprising people. Yeah no doubt about it Phil. You look at this team a lot of similarities to the Padres. He got some guys in there that don't necessarily you know stand at the top of the list in terms of homers but there's just a bunch of guys kind of doing the same thing and then you go to the pitching side. They're finding ways to get this done. I mean you guys are smack dab in the middle of this thing in the central. How does it get done if the twins are to pull this out? Well they need good starting pitching which they have been getting mostly but it's they have three rookies in the starting rotation right now and they've had fours who isn't currently with the team but they are getting a lot of innings from from guys that are in their first go round. You'll see Debbie Matthews tonight making his second big league start. I mean that's kind of where they are but it hasn't worked. They are getting good pitching. If they're going to win it starts there because the back of the bullpen is pretty good. If they can it was unusual for them to blow that lead yesterday if they can get it to the final three innings with the lead they do pretty well. You know Rocco Baldelli I think is one of the better managers in baseball and has been for a while. Talk about you know why and how he has been successful over the last several years. Having the twins a quote smaller market team you know in the running on a consistent basis. Yeah he is very very much a players manager much more so than I've ever experienced it even though the last two managers which I covered were both players as well. But he's very he has the players in mind all the time they're making things as easy as possible for them. He's also very much a follow the numbers guy. He's out of the race system and learned how to manage basically with the race so he follows numerical evidence quite a bit. You'll see the pinch hit a lot because he's always looking for an edge and you know he I tell you I don't know how they are two games out right now but he has done a good job of piecing it together day by day. I continue to go through these numbers and the similarities are right there. I mean both teams don't strike out a ton. They both seem to value contact. I want to talk a little bit about Royce Lewis. He's the stud the young stud that you guys have. Finally healthy a little bit. I mean how much does he bring to the table offensively for this twins ball club. He's crazy good and like all the good twins hurt a lot. Yes he missed two and a half months all about three months this season so far but he is he is probably the most important player in the world. He's got 15 old runs and he's played I don't think he's 50 games yet. So he is yeah he's a he's a spectacular hitter and you know he was the overall number one pick wow seven years ago now I guess and he he looks like it he's a he's a superstar in the making but he's twice injured himself this season running the bases just pulling up with quad strains and keeps missing time. With Buxton and Correa out a lot of the load is falling on him and on like I said Carlos Santana to to kind of carry them. Phil Miller from the Minnesota Star Tribune our guest here twins in town taking on the Padres three game series Phil some trades wind up to be bigger deals than others. Here's one that hasn't turned into a whole lot April of 2022. The twins got Emilio Pagan and Chris Paddick from the Padres. The Padres got Taylor Rogers Brent Rooker and some cash. None of those players are left with the current teams we're talking about except for Chris Paddick and he's hurt. He hasn't pitched since July 14th but I must tell you he was one of our favorites here when he was in town. He was almost a kind of a little bit of a legend status with his sheriff repertoire etc. How have things gone other than injury prone for Paddick in Minnesota? Well cowboy Chris is it has that same profile in in in Minnesota. He I love the boots I love the hats and the and you know he's the only the only player I think I can recall who wears the stirrups on a socket which is with a visible he's a very much a unique character. I feel bad for him he you know he's had two Tommy John surgeries. He came back last year right at the end of the season and pitched some of September and some of the playoffs and really had them optimistic. He has he has pitched well at times this season and other times not so well and he has he's been on the end of this twice now but this time it's a shoulder problem and it's it's not a Tommy John situation and I just talked to him last week. He said he'd determined to pitch again this year so we'll see if that happens. He had orthoscopic surgery two weeks ago now to clean out the shoulder and there's pretty upbeat about it that says it's a hundred percent better. I would like to see him back on the mound because he's fun to have around but off to Tommy John's off of an injury field season they're very very much going to limit his innings even if he does come back. Phil Miller joins his Minnesota Star Tribune and Phil last one for me I mean the top half of this division has been a bit of a surprise. I mean really you know between the Guardians the Twins and the Royals it's been a pretty top heavy division. I mean was that expected going into the year that the teams would be playing this well at the top? I don't know that people took the Royals very seriously. They added a lot of veterans in the off season but no. Yeah two from two from the Padres. Yeah yeah exactly and I don't think they were taken very seriously but that shows you what Bobby Witt has done for them. They're a different team now they're a confident team. The Twins just had them and beat them two out of three but they were kind of a handful. The Guardians you know the Guardians and Twins have been at the top of the division for a few years now. I think the Twins came out of spring training pretty confident that they were the better team and would probably win the division but that of course counted on health and they have not had that much of it. I would say that the Guardians are an interesting team because they don't hit as many home runs but as most teams but they still spring together enough of an offense in other ways that they're kind of a you know kind of a pesky team. They're like a team of bluey rises sometimes it feels like. So the Twins could have been a game back today but they blew a lead yesterday in Texas and it's still a very confident clubhouse I'll say that. Even with all the injuries they they feel like they're the better team. Well we'll see how it all turns out. Twins are right there in the AL Central. Padres have worked their way back into the NOS. Said the records are the same. The similarities in these teams does not end. One thing that finally ended for you guys Phil was an 18 game playoff losing streak. Finally last October the Twins beat the Blue Jays and then beat them again to win that first round series. We got about a minute left. How how frustrated did the fans get and how big of a relief was that finally to get back a get a win in the postseason because that's that was crazy. It is you know the crazy thing about it. It stretched back to 2003. The crazy thing about it is it meant so much to the fans and the city and the people around the team but to the players it was like you know that was 15 year old a week here. But you know in 2017 and in 2020 they were saying the same thing and then they got swept and and mostly you could just see how tired they were of talking about it. And so the relief to the players is it's just not a topic anymore. So it and I think it does give the fans more confidence if they get there. The one thing is they have a crazy bad record against the Yankees. The Yankees were like 12 games on that street. So they still have a thing about playing the Yankees. They lost all six games to them this year. And that's who they match up with if the playoff started today but they don't. They're still a long way to go and it's good to have them in town. Good to have you in town Phil. Thanks so much for your help today. Good stuff and we'll see out at the ballpark. Appreciate it guys. Wait until I tell them I we called it the Minnesota Star Tribune. They're going to be so happy. Yeah that's right and we'll keep calling it that for you. All right buddy Phil Miller right there. Minnesota Star Tribune and some good stuff on the twins and they really I mean it's crazy. I mean the potters right now do have the number one wild card spot twins have the number two wild card spot. They both have the same amount of wins. You look at the you know like you said Tony they both hit make contact have a bunch of home run hitters but nobody would like 50. So it's going to be I think an interesting series that starts tonight out there at Petco Park. We'll take a break come back more Gwen and Chris on the way our number two includes daily gambit and fair or foul which I believe you'll find you'll agree mutt landed most decidedly foul. Anyway we're going to our number two Gwen and Chris. Good to have you with us good to be around on a Monday you know back at it here back home Padres yeah they did they lost it they lost the series to the Rockies. It's been that kind of a crazy season. So many unexpected things have happened for the Padres that have been a thumbs up. I mean the list is almost endless when you think of things that have surprisingly happened good for the Padres they've taken the season series from the Dodgers for one they won 19 out of 22 games for the first time ever for two and they've had so many incredible individual performances along with the fact that there's seven and one in extra innings a year after they couldn't win an extra inning game. I mean so many things have been good. Then there's that one bugaboo the Rockies and it's been all year. I mean the Rockies swept them here and now the Rockies end their streak of eight consecutive series wins over the weekend and they did it yesterday Scrabby by a score of three to two. You know how many three to two games there are each here at course field about two. I was going to say not many. Very rare do you get a three to two game at course field Musgrove looked all right you know he's starting I am very encouraged with what we've seen from Joe is first to you know starts coming back. Hoeing finally gave up a run and I'm not going to you know criticize the guy for that he's been absolutely perfect. There's a little bit of a bobble on that ground ball and right field by Peralta cost him but you know Stallings basically just hit a 15-hop ground ball that happened to go into left field and that was kind of the big hit and then as Tony pointed out Tony's run downstairs to take care of a couple of things he'll be back. But as Tony said you know Tyler Kinley and Victor Vodnik is not you know the eight nine closed down assassin team. Normally the yesterday the Padres could barely touch a man he hit the homerun off Kinley but otherwise Padres you know rolled right over in ball game. So it happens Rockies take the series give them you know credit they'll probably go and lose their next 20 games. But it was so annoying about everything of this series and the match up the entire season basically was they always say oh all the Rockies just returned home after losing eight of nine on the road. I don't like wow I know they can lose if they're a good team against the Padres. They have some pretty good players. Tovar is a really good choice stop. Doyle's good I mean he climbed the wall out there on Friday night made a big play and Rogers is a gold glove winner. Yeah yeah. Tonya the first baseman's young but has 20 home runs. You know we know the McMahon is a dangerous guy. I don't know why they never win a game but usually it's because they're pitching is so unbelievably bad but it just wasn't that way against the Padres. You know what makes you nervous for tonight is the Padres are facing a pitcher making his making his second ever start. Yeah and that usually doesn't go well. You know what I hate to agree with you in general but I'm going to agree with you. Padres don't seem to figure out young guys they've never seen before. You want an example the guy who pitched yesterday for the Rockies. He was only making his second or third star. There you go. And they barely touched him. Blaylock. Yes Blaylock that's it. I mean let's be honest whoever Blaylock is he wasn't good enough to make the Rockies you know two months ago. If you weren't good enough to make the Rockies what does that say about where you were at? I'm saying you know they bring him up in the kit pitched okay yesterday and now it's Zebi Matthews tonight. Yes. Second career start. I'm seeing on the chat that some people are saying maybe it's the Padres attitude. I can't I have a hard time believing that the Padres are getting surprised by the like an arrogant attitude. Maybe just like okay we don't have to give 100%. Oh I don't think that's I don't think that's it either because they keep getting beat by the Rockies. They know the Rockies are good enough to beat them. Yeah I'm sure I'm pretty sure the Padres are pretty tired of losing the Rockies. Yeah I'm pretty sure they are. I mean I understand the thought of maybe there is some relaxation but I don't think that's you might have been able to say that when they lost earlier in the year but you couldn't have said that this weekend. No they've been so locked. Yes they've been playing tremendous ball. There's no way they wanted that streak of series to end against the worst team in the Nash. Yeah they were about to set a franchise record. Yeah they didn't want that to happen. The Rockies beat him and that's just so annoying. Oh so yeah Rockies return home after losing 153 of the last 154 and the Rockies go out on the road where they'll lose 153 their next 154 but they won over the weekend. Yeah you're right Bradley Blalock yesterday Zebi Matthews today and you know what if I was the Padres and their fans I'd almost rather face Greg Maddox and Bob Gibson. Because at least they seem like we know those guys and we're able to do something with them. You know I'm doing a pregame today so everybody stay tuned for 540 PM for that and Sam gave me the Zebi's real name so I will reveal Zebi's real name. Zebi has a real name. Zebi is not his actual first name. All right. These days I have no idea so. Everybody's going to need to know his full first name. Yes. For booing purposes out at the yard tonight. For booing purposes only. Like I said Tony's off. We're actually or everybody's trying to find out you know what the story is with Haas on Kim right now. So you know as soon as Mike Schilt says it Tony will let us know or somebody will let you know. Mike Schilt is supposed to meet with the media at 330 today so it's like 20 minutes from now. We'll all you know kind of hold our breath a little Kim is not in the lineup tonight. Tyler Wade will be starting at shortstop tonight. So but no no official IL move has been made. No transaction has been made as far as we know from the Padres. So that's it. That's all we know about Haas on Kim right now. He did leave the game yesterday jammed his left right shoulder diving back into first base and immediately felt enough pain to basically run off the field. Yeah. Yeah. You know that's not a great sign. It's not a great sign. So he ran right to the clubhouse and you know. So it's a shoulder. I mean I would assume that means a dislocated shoulder jammed is what I'm only going to go with because nobody said dislocated. So jammed. Okay. But I'm not doesn't mean it wasn't just means I don't know beyond the fact that they said he's already dealing with a shoulder injury to begin with. I believe right like he's been dealing with it this season. Tony is hoping and thinking it's not a big deal. He might miss a couple of games on thinking it might be a tad worse. So we'll see which you know I'm not a doctor but I play one on the radio. I do love sometimes with these guys on Twitter like no. Come on. Oh well you see this angle. It's like you have zero idea. Even if you are a doctor you don't know. I know. I know. You know you saw the injury. You don't know anything beyond that. You haven't seen any imaging. The only person I pay attention to in that world is Stefania Bell because she you believe her for ESPN because she doesn't like say hey this guy is going to be back then. She tells you everything that you need to know about the injury. Well I'm glad you believe in Stefania Bell because you said this and now I'm going to back it what I'm going to piggyback on what you just said. What? Stefania Bell wrote on Twitter the other day. Okay. That she is very concerned about Joe Burrow and his ability to bounce back from these wrist injuries. Does not expect Joe Burrow maybe to ever really be Joe Burrow again at least not for a while. My goodness. So that is going to be a test of Stefania Wells. Stefania doesn't it she's never that drastic. So it's pretty drastic that out. Pretty drastic. You must really believe it. Well we'll see if Joe Burrow like is that enough to scare you off of Joe Burrow if he's available in the 8th round of your fantasy draft because the final Stefania so maybe possibly. Yeah. She's she's pretty good. She's pretty good. She's brought to you by floor and decor. Unbeatable prices unmatched in stock selection. Floor and decor has more styles of laminate, vinyl, tile, wood and stone for anyone looking for the right look at the right price. Your next beautiful space is at floor and decor. That's floor and decor. Unbeatable prices unmatched in stock selection. And they're like that's gravy. I love it. Floor and decor is easy to remember. My first read of that and it was flawless. It's not a hard one to flawless. It's not a hard read. It's not like the carry under wood read. That's that's a little bit more. If there's any you know if there's any bobble you'll be there on the record button. So I can't take any chances with that. We can't do daily gambit now. We're gonna have to do it next segment. But we'll do it next segment. I do have a question from the chat. It's actually not a question. It's just a statement from someone saying Wade playing over Donovan Solano is just idiotic. It isn't. Okay, it is. Well, here's the thing. It's not because Mike Schilt is going to play defense. And who? Donovan's law is not a strong defender. No, he's not going to play shortstop. Exactly. The only thing you could do right now, if you don't play Wade at short, is to move two people out of position. And I don't think, at least for the short term, Mike Schilt wants to do that. So you're going to move corona worth the short. You're going to put Solano or a rise at first. You're going to move Bogart's to short. Going to move corona worth a second and then a rise to first. You're going to move Manny to short and put Solano on third. I think Manny's short days are over. I'm just saying. Those are the other options for anybody who says it's dumb to play to play Tyler Wade. I'm telling you, if this goes for a while, if this is like a two and a half, three week deal with Kim and we don't know, we'll know here's June. But if it's two and a half or three weeks, then I think you'll see somebody shift over, play short so that Solano can be in the lineup. Yeah. But for a day or two, you're going to play defense. You're going to put Tyler Wade at short. And unfortunately, Solano's going to have to come off the bench. So thank you chat, but not accurate this on this occasion. I understand the thought and Tyler Wade, he's not a bad player. He just really hasn't gotten as many opportunities. Every time he plays, it seems like he goes two for three, except for maybe yesterday. And he's he does something during a game when he's in there. He's got a pretty good job. I think he's been okay. Tyler Wade's been very serviceable. He's okay. We're, we're, I'm happy with him. I would love to get Solano in. So I get where you're coming from. But to get him in, you're going to have to move pieces around. And I don't think Mike Schult wants to do that, at least not for like one day or two days. Yeah. Do you really want Zander Bogart? I mean, I know that he's capable of playing short stuff. That's where he played his entire career, but they moved him for a reason. Do you really want to give him that taste of short stuff again? You want to put him there and Cronin worth a second and arise at first and then have three guys out of position? Yeah, good point. It's too much. It's too much. Yeah, that's a good point. You know, defense matters. If you don't think defense matters, you know, look at the game Friday night. Doyle climbs the wall. McMahon stabs a hard ground ball, starts a double play instead of a two run double. I mean, defense matters. You know, defense wins championships. All right. That's that's a little over the top because I don't agree with that. Feel like you got a score, too. Well, yeah, but I'm just saying defense is capable of giving up zero points. Defense matters. Thank you, Scrabie. We'll do with daily gambit after we check some travel weight traffic is not ready. It will be at some point. It'll be ready. So just stick around for it. It's coming up. We have the daily gambit, then we have fair or foul. And I'm telling you, it got crazy. So it's all coming up on Gwen and Chris. We all belong outside. We're drawn to nature, whether it's the recorded sounds of the ocean we doze off to or the succulents that adorn our homes. Nature makes all of our lives. Well, better. We're back. Howdy, dude. I'll have a little round of Chris vs. the fans later, but right now. What about a cowboy Chris? Cowboy Chris. So he re-changed his name. Yeah, he's not the sheriff. He re-branded, evidently he's Chris Cowboy Chris in Minnesota. He rebranded, which is probably a better spot for him. Either way, he's not healthy. So we won't see Chris Patek this week as the fans have arrived to play the Padres tonight. It'll be the rookie, Zebi Matthews, second career start, Michael King. Tomorrow, Bailey Ober. Probably nobody knows anything about Bailey Ober. I'll tell you one thing about Bailey Ober. He's six nine. Yeah, he is a tall guy. Maybe the tallest pitcher in all the baseball. He'll pitch tomorrow night against Martin Perez and then kind of the strange 340 start time on Wednesday for Simeon Woods Richardson, another rookie, Matt Waldron to round out the series. Let's play some daily gambit right now, though, Scrabie. Do you like money? I think about money. Do you like money without doing anything? Uh, duh, winning. Do you want to make money while watching sports? I think Washington is immortal luck. Washington! Woohoo! If you answer yes, this is your segment. Just don't blame us when you lose. Nothing is ever your fault. It's your game. Take it. Yeah, we won't allow it. Let me start this one over. Baseball coverage on 97-3. The fan is presented by T-Mobile, switched to T-Mobile and you can get tons of benefits and still save on every plan versus AT&T and Verizon. Use their savings calculator to find out how at T-Mobile.com/switch. I was not here, so you take it over. I got a few, uh, few picks. So over the weekend Friday night, over under Padre's Rockies was 11 and a half runs. I went under Rockies one seven to three, so it did go one way. Dodgers at Cardinals had to take the Cardinals plus a run and a half. You want me to do root for the Dodgers? I won that one even though the Dodgers won, it was seven to six, so the one and a half runs paid off. Seattle at Pittsburgh. Friday night, I took Seattle minus a run and a half. Why? Because Paul Skins was pitching for Pittsburgh. I didn't want to root for him, but I should have. Skins and Pittsburgh won five to three, so I lost that one. I think he gave up first inning or second inning home run. He gave up an early home run, but otherwise pitched fine. He's seven and two now and you know, it just is what it is. I'm not going to get riled up again. No, no. Also on Friday night, Caitlin Clark, 19 and a half points against Diana Tarasi and Phoenix. This was kind of a delicious one because remember Tarasi was the one that said, oh yeah, who does Caitlin Clark think she is? He's just a kid. She's going to be coming up here playing with all these stud players. Well, Caitlin Clark put 29 on her and went well over the under over. And here's the thing, Diana Tarasi and Phoenix has not beaten Caitlin Clark yet this year. So Diana Tarasi's taken the short end of that, even though I think she was just trying to be honest and maybe wasn't the best of times. I got to say, Caitlin Clark keeps getting better. Way better. Way better. You're right, Scrabie. Of course we had to do some preseason football. Of course, even though I think it's ridiculous. Adam was here. So we did Baltimore one over Atlanta. I took Atlanta for Adam. Okay, it didn't matter because Baltimore one by one. So is a push. Miami four and a half over Washington. I couldn't understand why any team would be favored over any other team in a preseason game. So I took Washington plus the four and a half. Miami though, one by seven. And San Francisco was one over New Orleans. I took New Orleans just so I could stick it to you. But San Francisco won 16 to 10. You know what my at the airport yesterday, my mom goes, Hey, 49ers are playing tonight. Not really excited. And I said, no. And she was like, what? Why aren't you excited? I'm like, I'm not even going to watch it. And I ended up watching it. Yeah, I did. You're a fan. I am. I watched the dolphins game the other night to have played the first series. Five for five through a touchdown on a fade fourth down. They called the fade my favorite pattern in football. It's the worst pattern in football. But he hit it that time. All right. And which is kind of bad. Yeah, because it means next time in the regular season, they'll call it again. Yep. And it won't work. Exactly. Yeah. All right, what do we got for tonight? Oh, I don't know. You're in charge of that. It's up to me. All right, what we got for tonight is a mess on my sheet. No, there we go. Brandon fought Arizona tonight, pitching at Miami. Six innings over under Scrammy, Bob has pushed well. He's in a second year. Diamondbacks got swept by the way over the weekend in Tampa Bay. That's pretty crazy. They don't help the Padres move ahead of them. Uh, fought. Mr. fought against the Marlins. P F A A D T. Yes. Just like it sounds fought. I'm going to go over, over, um, yeah, I'm gonna go over to Miami's not very good. Uh, Padres twins. This is a very low number for over under tonight. Seven. That is a very low, the rookie pitcher. But as we said, the twins don't, or the Padres don't seem to hit rookie pitchers as well as you would like. Yeah, I'm Peko park effect. Dr. Fark. It's over. Come on. It's seven runs. Jeez. Oh, I thought you meant it's over like it's over. No, I'm going over. Oh, I'm going to go over too. We're both playing. I'm going to be, um, cautiously optimistic nine to four tonight. Just put some runs on the board. Have some fun out there. Dodger's home to the Mariners. Tonight, Dodgers are favored by one and a half runs. Dodgers are three games up on the Padres right now in the N. L. West is Logan Gilbert pitching for the Dodgers. He is not. Okay. He's certainly not going to pitch for the. Yeah, I know he won't be pitching for the Dodgers, but the Mariners is not either. The matchup tonight is Gavin Stone for the Dodgers, Brian Wu for Seattle. Um, are you going with Mariners? Really? Yep. Well, I gotta go to the Mariners. I can't root for the Dodgers. Are you kidding? Michael King tonight, six and a half strikeouts. Oh, over. Wow. We're both just screaming over that time. Well, Michael King has turned into a pretty good strikeout picture. He and cease may end up one, two, and all a major league baseball. That's by the time it's done. I got one tennis one for you. Oh, great. Jakob Sinner, the number one player, Yannick Sinner, Yannick Jakob. Mr. Sinner is going up against American Francis Tiafo in the finals at Cincinnati. Oh, yeah, this is a big tournament. It's a big eat. Best of three 22 and a half games over under over under 22 and a half. You're basically betting whether you think Tiafo can take it to a third set. I'm gonna say under under center. I'll say over. I think we agreed on every other one. So we better disagree on that one. We did. All right, coming up next, Tony rejoins us for a rollicking edition of fair or foul. Some people out there in the world have been very foul and we're going to call them out on it except for a couple of people who are very fair and we're going to pat them on the back. You'll see what we're talking about. It's all great fun. Next. Yeah, I guess it's I was trying to think of something else clever, but I don't have it. So we'll just go to perfect. Yeah. All right. All right. Stop and heard anything update wise on Hassan Kim from the Padres. He's not in the lineup tonight. We know that, but we don't know anything else as far as, you know, severity of injury. How long you might be out. As soon as we know, we'll let you know. I usually look for Scrabby. You're usually right on this stuff. Well, I usually look for the Padres to put up a post that says like, we've made some moves, but nothing yet. That is good. That is a good sign that they haven't made a transaction. Yes. Which would be the likes of, hey, we put Hassan Kim on the 10 day, I'll, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Exactly. Has not happened as of yet. Yes, correct. So hopefully it'll just be, you know, he's not playing tonight. We'll see how he feels tomorrow, et cetera, et cetera, but we don't know anything official. So stop worrying about it for now. We were having a major debate on the chat today about what they should do with the infield. This is not a major debate. I mean, what do they want to do? Quite honestly, they want to do a lot of, a lot of stuff. They want to change over like all five positions. The one that is not going to do that. The one that I, the one that I see having Solano play third, Manny DH, but Manny needs to be a third. Manny has said that he wants to be on the field. Why would you take Manny off third? He's the greatest player ever. Like in the history of the game. Did you see Don Visellano last week? I made two plays. I'm not ready to dust off a spot for him in the Brooks Robinson defending Hall of Fame. Yeah, I'm not saying Ava is wrong, but I have appreciated watching the game. I appreciate you guys all trying to come up with solutions, but hopefully it's only a few days. And if it is, Tyler Wade can play short. Just fine. Thank you. Let's get to traffic. And then we have an addition affair or foul. We've had a few additions to this. This is the best one yet. I do it while making coffee. I do it in the car. I do it when the kids are asleep. Shopify.com/autacypodcast. I thank you on the traffic. Now, as we head into this next segment, I want to do something right now in honor of our one of our best friends, Scrabby and Tony. And one of our best friends is our guy, Sam Levitt. Tonight, he is the play-by-play voice of the San Diego Padres for baseball. He's calling his first ever major league game, making his debut. After years being in the minor leagues, it's a big moment. So for Sam, I offer this. There's a long fly ball deep down the right field line. Is it fair or foul? Scrabby, take over with the fair foul segment. Wow, Chris just did that off the top of his head, everybody. That was pretty good, Chris. Well, thank you for the interest. That was called freestyle right there. Yeah, that was. That was freestyle. You were like B-Rabbit right there. I'm just trying to do my best. Sam Levitt and B-Rabbit. Do you know who B-Rabbit is? What? Moving on. So I kind of found some things from all over sports and there's some snoop dog trashing. There's also some Mets trashing, some Cubs trashing, but we're going to start with the Padres. I did see this over the weekend and it's not like the craziest opinion, but they said this. I actually don't want the Padres to win the division. It sounds crazy, but there is something that brings me joy like nothing else. A Dodgers first round by in the postseason and a Dodgers first series exit in the postseason. Please don't win the division, Padres. We want to see the Dodgers fail yet again. Tony, fair or foul? Foul. I knew he was a foul ball. It was a foul ball the moment it came off the bat. I mean, we went over this last week, I think, while you were gone. I can't remember who our guess was, but it was suggested to him. Chris, you remember who our guess was last week? Um, my job, Bradford. It might have been. Yeah, he did a great job by the way. I think it was. I think it was. Yeah, I do like Rob. Yeah. It's good. Um, yeah, it's, it's, I get it. I get the fake. That's not fake. I get the people uncomfortable with, he said, how the records of those teams with buys that happen, but this reason in particular is stupid because, um, you know, the Padres want to win a division. Everybody wants to win their division. And just so you can laugh at the, the Dodgers having a first round buying and not winning, does not guarantee the Padres getting as far as we want them to go. This kind of goes back to focusing on what your team is doing versus worrying about what the other teams are doing. Padres win a division. That's a big deal. Padres haven't won a division in since '06. Yeah, two vets. That's, that's a crazy amount of time. And it's basically been the Dodgers and Giants winning it with like a one or two diamondback sprinkled in there. So, they probably want to get on the board there. Chris Fairfell, really? You're asking me. Yeah, because you, I could think that this guy, can you think I could see this being fair? Yeah, I think you could. But when I, when I wrote this or not wrote this, but when I copy and pasted this over, I thought Chris could agree with this. Yeah, well, he's not. This is so stupid. I can't even begin to tell you. I take everybody back to 1996. Thank you. Sure. That year, the Padres and Dodgers entered the final weekend of the season, both having clinched a playoff spot. The question was, is which team was going to win the division? What year is this? I'm sorry. 1996. Both teams had already clinched. One was going to be the division champ, one was going to be the wild card. Everybody knows that one of the great memories in Padre history is Tony's uncle, Chris Gwen, coming up with a big hit to help complete a sweep on Sunday afternoon and give the Padres the division championship, which they celebrated right there on Dodger Stadium's field. Ooh, that would be fun. It didn't matter who was the winner. The Padres wanted the division and the excitement of dethroning the Dodgers was incredible. And it's going to be the same around here if we win the division this year. All right. What happens in the playoffs beyond that is, is, is anybody's guess, but to tell me you don't want to win the division, you're not thinking clearly. They actually hang divisional banners. Yes, they get a unique color for divisional. I don't know the wild card ones. I don't know if they hang the wild card banners, unless you actually have to, but you know, I'll take my chances with a division title and a buy every single time. Yeah. Never mind the fact that the Dodgers can't do it. Banner schmamer. All right. Let's move on to the next. Well, did you write that or? No, no, it sounds like it's coming from you. No, but there's not coming from the fertile mind of Matt Scrading. No, because I wouldn't. I would never bring this to you guys from my mind. The fertile mind. I'm not really, really even sure what that means, but. Oh, let's move on to the next one. It's about the Cubs. And this person, it was on like one of those Cubs blog sites. And they said the Cubs spent so much money on Craig Council and the media buried the brewers. Or sorry, this was from a brewer site. The Cubs spent so much money on Craig Council. And the media buried the brewers before spring training even started. Cubs are three games under 500. The brewers are 20 games over 500. The Cubs are in third place. The brewers lead the division. The Cubs made Craig Council, the highest paid manager at baseball, and they have nothing to show for it. Fire Craig Council and move on from this terrible decision. Tony Ferifal. And this game from a Brewers thing. I can't actually remember anymore. She's Louise. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go look at the article, but I'm. Go ahead. It kind of has an impact on what I'm gonna say. All right. Hold on. Here's what I'll say. History. Cubs. Cubs. Cubs. Cubs. Cubs. Cubs. Cub. Yeah. Okay. That makes more sense. Yeah. I mean, listen, let's be, let's be 100% honest. Cubs didn't have ever the good of a team. I mean, even when you brought that Bellinger, nobody was like, oh, yeah, the Cubs. They're just gonna run away. It was kind of like, yeah, I can see the Cubs winning. Oh, but you know, I could also see the Cardinals bouncing back. You know, all with the Brewers are always pretty good. It was never a deal where Craig Council was gonna come in and all of a sudden just make that roster way, way better. Now you can make the argument that they overpaid for him. I'm sure that's probably had a big factor in why he left Milwaukee in a go to Chicago because they did overpaid for him. In terms of the Brewers getting kicked or beat down or whatever to bury, you know, as this, you know, they were, they were upset that they had a manager that they never thought would leave to go to the Crosstown rival and they were wrong. So there's probably a little sour grapes there, but I'm sure they're feeling pretty good right now the fact that they're leading the division. So I think I don't, firing Craig Council stupid because it was never going to happen in the first place in terms of them just mowing down this division. Yeah, Chris, it's a, it's a fair ball, but it may one of these days be caught at the top of the fence and brought back. And what I'm saying is right now, Craig Council season with the Cubs is an unmitigated disaster. I mean, for them to pour out the kind of money they did to steal him from Milwaukee and then get run away from him in the division by Milwaukee. Do you even know that they, they don't have a good team? Well, look, I mean, I think both teams are pretty similar on paper coming in. The Brewers lost a lot of players. You know, the Cubs didn't really lose guys. They didn't, they didn't add a whole lot to it. I think it's a disaster to, to hire a guy for that kind of money and get beaten the way he's been beaten by the team that let it, you know, that they took him from. However, there's another season. There's another couple of seasons. Craig Council could wind up on top at the end of all of this. Yeah, that's all I'm saying. And to fire him, it's a little ridiculous. Craig Council started with some pretty bad Brewers teams. And then by the time he left, they're pretty much the perennial contender in a central every year. So what you're saying guys is the long play is the way to go. Indeed. I'm just saying it might be. All right. Let's go to Olympic coverage opinion. This country reaches new lows all the time. And I am no longer surprised when something happens that allows our society to stoop even lower. NBC decided to hire a former criminal term mumble rapper to be one of the host of the Olympic games. Snoop Dogg. Why is it so easy for me to see and so difficult for the Neanderthal executives to see the flawed logic in their decision? Tony, why are we celebrating a guy who has many skeletons in the closet? I mean, Fairfell really. That was his question to everyone. But Fairfell in this comment. There's a lot in there. Did he give me the last part? Is it Fairfell that he's criticizing the hiring of Snoop Dogg? Correct. Um, I think it's foul. Is there a difference between Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart? Not technically, I guess. They both were criminals at some point, right? Yeah. That's right. Yeah. So, I mean, I think, um, society has changed a lot. And Neanderthals, those are the old ones, right? I would think that Neanderthals wouldn't want a guy like Snoop Dogg, kind of out to the masses. But I just think that, you know, despite some of those so-called skeletons that he has, he's also done a lot to change his image in terms of understanding the people he's reaching, the kids that he's reaching. And so, I think this is, um, I think this is foul. I think this is foul by said writer. And, uh, yeah. I think most people enjoyed, if not all, enjoyed Snoop in his, um, coverage of the Olympics for Shizzle. Chris, I like that. Chris Ferra fell in this. Uh, it's foul. It's foul. Snoop Dogg is lovable. And he's one of the great success stories in American pop culture to come from where he was to where he is. And B.C. was just taking advantage of that. Now I did read varying reports, but one said that he made nine million dollars from NBC. Um, they probably should have paid him more because I'll be honest with you. If you're going to put Snoop Dogg on a television screen with Mike Tareco, there's only one reason I'm going to watch. It's for Mike Tareco. No, it's for Snoop Dogg. That's it. I'm surprised that your hate for Mike Tareco is not outweighed. You know, you wouldn't just turn it off regardless. No, I watched Snoop. Man, he cracks me up. You know, I thought he might have been over exposed in the Olympics, but that's not his fault. I think it was just funny and everything he did. I had no problem with it. I think that that number sounds about right. Cause if I don't cover our car, right, it was like 500 grand a day. Oh, okay. Yeah. So that would be nine mil. Make nine million dollars just to be himself. I smoke weed and go on camera. I mean, God, isn't that if that's not the American success story of all time. I don't know what it is. You know, I was, I was in the car with my parents and we were talking about Snoop Dogg hosting the Olympics and my dad's in. Why doesn't someone just go arrest Snoop Dogg because he's obviously got a bunch of drugs on him. I'm like, because Snoop is too cool. They're not going to arrest him. Come on. And he doesn't have the drugs on. That's what I was about to say. That that was a guy for that. Let me not not to mention. I mean, I don't know what the laws are in France in France, but probably not a great idea to be transporting across, you know, country lines. Right. I mean, I don't know that we saw him with any of that, but I'm sure he has contacts in Paris that would be happy to help him out. I'm sure people come out of the woodwork to offer him stuff. Hey, your Snoop Dogg. Can you try this, please? Oh, yeah. Try this strain. Please try this. I want to think, you know, I'd like to see NBC take it a step further. Never mind this fair foul. Next time, just have Snoop Dogg be the lone host of the prime time and have Mike Torrico stand behind a camera somewhere and give him a little money. Your love for Goldway is surprising to me. I'm surprised to. I'm surprised. No, I'm not. But I like it. Clandering him at all. All right, final one real quick. And this one is from the New York Post. So get ready. The Mets should be ashamed of themselves. It was camp day at City Field last Thursday after thousands of kids in the ballpark. Many of them already irreversibly desensitized and anti socialized by the commercial prompts that attack their vulnerable central nervous systems before they can distinguish bad from worse. So what did the Mets do? They put a Mets jersey on a girl who is famous for saying Hock Toa. As a Mets fan, my whole life, I'm disgusted that the Mets would put this girl in front of so many children who are now asking, what is Hock Toa mean? Steve Cook. Yeah, Steve Cohen in the Mets stock to Steve Cohen in the Mets to to low this time. And I can't see why they felt the need. Fair or foul, Chris affair. Really? Yeah, fair ball. I don't really understand how they arrived at bringing her there to throw out a first pitch. And I don't understand how did they how did they announce her to the crowd by her name? And was she just fluency? What? Social media influencer? Social media influencer. So and so. Yeah, I don't know who they did. They ever mentioned Hock Toa in the introduction over the PA system. I don't know, but I don't think so. The fact of the matter is she didn't. Hayley Welch. Well, she didn't belong out there in the first place. And especially now that I hear it was a kids day, that's yeah, I'm a little outraged by this. I must tell you. Outraged? Yeah, I am. I mean, I don't need every kid turning to their parent and going, what is this? Who is that woman? Oh, well, what does that mean? I don't need that. We have enough issues already out there. This was really poor taste, if that's true. I mean, all she was doing was spitting. That's it. I know. Tony, Sheriff Al. Probably fair. Wow, especially considering it was on a kid's day. Yeah, that's the most I don't I don't buy the the idea that you know, if let's just say if it was my mom, and I and I happened to randomly as I was like, who was this lady? Your mom would say, be quiet mind your own business. I know that's definitely that's definitely one option. The other option. I mean, there's there's I guess there's a way to speak to your kids and let them know that something inappropriate. She did something inappropriate, but she shouldn't really be up here. But this is what they decide. I mean, be honest without, you know, having to there's a way to say that to your to your child and let them know that this it's inappropriate or whatever it is that you feel about the situation. But it's inappropriate that the Mets put every parent in that stadium in that position. I that's not that's not what you could do. You could do it. It is. I mean, also it's parenting. I mean, this is what you're supposed to do as a parent is guide your children and let them know right from wrong. Just take it as an opportunity. I don't think she should have been there on that particular day. But let's say it wasn't that day and it was just a random day. There's still kids in the stands in those in those days that can still ask the same question. So ladies and gentlemen, the Hock to a girl. It's not what the well. Yeah. The last time when we originally talked about this and you were concerned that I was filling young ears with bad things. Most of the parents said on the chat that their kids already knew it before they did because of, you know, school and TikTok and whatever friends. So whatever it was doesn't make a right to drag her out there. Man, you know, she's doing a good thing though. She's donating. I mean, they have social influencers throw out first bitches all the time. Yeah. Maybe not one that used the term Hock to a but they definitely got they definitely all got. How many pole dancers that's gone to this year? Right. Come on. Not even close to the same thing. He's a really get off my lawn mode. Yeah, he really is. Get off. I'm gonna get one of my favorite objections ever just was shown on. Oh, man, that's great. We'll talk about it later. Okay. All right. That's it for fair or foul. It was kind of a foul segment. But I kind of enjoyed it today. Okay. It's kind of a rousing, rousing. Good questions. All right. Good fair foul. All right. Maybe I figured out this maybe you got something here, Scravey. All right. We got Christopher's the fans next. Hang in. Start, I guess with an update on how so Kim, if he's had his MRI, what are the results? What does he stand? He we have at the MRI. We're still working on getting the results and getting them evaluated. So I don't want to be announcing anything that's too early. It is more favorable initially. But I say that with caution because I've done this a while and sometimes the image comes out. It's like, it looks pretty good. And people get really exciting, so I can be able to play tomorrow. And then you come back and you get further imaging and then you get second opinions and then you get another image. It's deeper because you see something better, better, clear and it shows up something that can be alarming. So all I can tell you is, is literally 10 minutes ago, I get a little bit of information that I'm sharing in real time with you that seems to be mostly favorable. But there's zero timeline to it. Other than, you know, could always be a lot worse and initially fairly pleased what it looks like, but still gathering information. Okay. So who on this show said that Mike Schult would give us a rundown on Hassan Kim today, and we would really not know a whole lot more than we knew before. I believe it was me. I think that was something that I said. Yes, I think it was. Yes, it was. There was Mike Schult. If you can make heads or tails of that, then you know what's the matter with Hassan Kim. We know he's not playing tonight. That's really about all Mike Schult was willing to share. He did go on to say that he's not available. He's not available to pinch hit tonight. He's not playing tonight. But as far as what the MRI showed, I could not make heads nor tails, you know, about what Mike Schult said there. It was just a bunch of gobbledygook as far as I'm concerned. I don't I'm not ripping my show. This is what all baseball teams and all coaches and all sports now do. Well, you can't tell us anything because they cannot commit to anything they are not 100% on or else their feet will be held to the fire. But I believe they are 100% on it. That's my point. I believe that they would make a move though if there was something that was big a move. Yeah, wouldn't they put him on the aisle immediately call someone up if they're if he was actually out. I don't know, they might hold out for more information, maybe another take another picture tomorrow. Some more imaging, some more imaging, try to get a more he said it was a very favorable image. Couldn't have been that favorable. The guys not at all available to play tonight. I it's not Mike Schult. It's not the Padres. It's baseball. It's football. It's basketball. Nobody will any longer share with us really any succinct injury news. We don't get it. We can't get it. So we just have to kind of make it up ourselves. I don't know how long Hassan Kim is going to be out either to you. Apparently neither does Mike Schult. But I really find that hard to believe. You know, as a guy, I just do it's too important. It's too darn important. The guy got hurt yesterday. This is almost 24 hours later. Hassan Kim's health is really important to the, you know, near immediate. I'd buy a future of the Padres. I really believe that they have found out what's going on and made it a huge priority to do so. I find it hard to believe that they waited till 350 this afternoon and 10 minutes ago took a haphazard picture and just don't have a very clear idea of what it said. I buy it because the guy who was recovering from shoulder surgery, MRIs take a long time and they traveled home last night. I don't think that that's as easy as Hassan Kim getting off the plane going to get an MRI from Petco Park. They probably do. They probably have to wait for the doctors to get into Petco Park to operate the machine. I don't. I don't. It's too important. I can't. You really think you really think that he got hurt yesterday. He's been home since last night, but they couldn't find anybody to get an MRI of him until about 350 this afternoon. And they're just now kind of going over the unclear results of that. I really can't believe that. I don't. I don't believe I don't believe the Padres and I don't believe any other team that gives us the same run around an initial diagnosis has been made, but they do not want they need to wait. Honestly, they probably do have to wait for him to like wake up and then three days from now and tell them how their his shoulder is. Okay. Shoulders change every day. All right, doctor. All right, doctors. Great. I am. I just went through with shoulder surgery myself. I'm aware of it. I'm hoping Hassan Kim doesn't have to go through one as well. But as far as what we know, we don't know. Here's one thing we can tell you. The Arizona Diamond Vax lost a key piece today. Kato Marte is going to the injured list. He was been playing with the sprained left ankle for the last eight days, but yesterday he re-injured it badly enough in their game at Miami to where he is got to go on the I.L. Who is this? I'm sorry. Kato Marte, pretty important player. Very important. Yes. Kana Wright, the only guy pushing Shohei Otani for NL MVP. That's who it is. He's out for quite a while. So that's bad news for the Diamondbacks over the weekend. Tyler Glass now went on the injured list. Yeah, that's bad news for the Dodgers. I believe it this time. And if you can't, right. And if you want some bad news for the Braves, Austin Riley, how about two months for him after breaking his right hand hit by a 97 mile per hour fastball yesterday against the Angels. The Braves have already lost a kunya. They've lost stride or they've lost albies. They still have a two-game lead over the Mets for the wild card. It's really quite remarkable when you think of it that way. If you're the Mets at this point, come on. But the Braves are hanging in. They're going to have to do it without another stalwart player now though. So we will see. All right, let's play. What do we got? Chris vs. the fans. I'm a little annoyed right now. I guess so. I didn't realize. But I was right. And that's just frustrating. Tell us what's a matter. It's not going to change world politics. God. If you had one shot, one opportunity to take down the human arm and act himself. How would he do? Now is your time. Listen to me, this guy, stages. Now is your opportunity to win a prize. All right, if you're a first time player, let us know before you get into the first question and you will get that for free. Thank you, Chris. By the way, I think every time you bring somebody on now, you should stop asking them if they're a first time player. We make the announcement every time. If you can't tell us your first time player on your own, sorry, you just don't get the benefit. I'm serious. Why is this really upset about this? I'm just in the mood today. I'm in a mood. Blame it on my niece. I will. Actually, I've heard a little bit about it. And I will. All right, let's go to the phones. And we are going to go with Luke and Luke. How's it going? Pretty good. Are you ready to play? Yep. Very smart. Luke. He just asked how you were doing. He didn't ask how I was doing. We already know how he already knows the answer to that question right now. You're in a bad mood. We know. Yeah. I know. All right. Here we go. Question number one to Luke. Four teams in baseball are tied for the most wins at 73. Name two of the four. Just two. Uh, Dodgers. And, uh, well, it's really good right now. Um, Orioles. Stay there, Luke. Chris. Uh, I don't even know if the Dodgers is right. I'm going to say the Orioles and Phillies. Sorry, Luke. Sorry. The Dodgers was right. Oh, they were. It's Phillies Dodgers, Orioles, Yankees. Okay. 73. Oh my gosh. Something just hit me. I forgot to put in fair and foul. There was a picture of the Yankees last night with the Little League World Series team and the caption was, this is as close as Aaron judges going to get to a World Series. Fair foul, Chris. That's fair. I think it's fair. All right. Here we go. He's just like every other player who's never been to a World Series yet. True. He'll never get there until the day he gets there. And then you'll all say, Oh, he can get there. Yankie's hate is fun though. It is. All right. Here we go to our next contestant. Let's go to Lance and Temecula. Hello Lance. Hey, how are you doing? I'm, uh, I'm doing well. Yeah. Go ahead. Can we all just like, uh, Chris when just we get in a better mood? I don't think that would put him in a better mood. I'm going to put me in a better mood. Lance. So upset about this hustle and kin thing. I am so upset. I, I, I almost rather you guys. I want you guys to win today. That'll make me feel better. All right. All right. Here's my best. All right. Here we go. Question number one. What sport is the movie million dollar baby about? Boxing. Boxing. Oscar winner. Very long time. Oscar winner. Not that good. Wow. All right. How do you really feel? No, it's good. But Oscar winner. Not that. Oh, I see. Like it's not good. Shouldn't have, shouldn't have won best picture. Do you know what was up against it? Don't remember. Okay. We'll check that later. Here we go. Question number two. Uh, only, do, uh, let me start that over. Wow. One. I know. One NFL division had three teams make the playoffs last year. Name that division or the teams. The AFC North. Wow. That is correct. Drilled it. Ravens, Browns, Steelers, and that's funny that the maybe the best team in that division didn't make the playoffs. The bangles. Yeah, they're not the best, but you know, I mean, the bangles are pretty good. They were. They were the book in the last few years. Yeah, they didn't make it. All right. Here we go. Question number three. You get this right. Chris gets it wrong. You qualified for Las Vegas. Oh, let's see. Let's see. Let's see. Let's see. Let's see. Let's see. Prior to Atlanta in 2023, which nationally team was the last to have five players with 25 or more home runs in a season? I'll repeat that. The Braves did this in 2023, but what was the last team before them nationally team to have at least five players with 25 or more home runs in a season? Wow. Let's go with the red. Does he have access to the document because that is correct? That is absolutely right. How about that? Stay right there, man. That was pretty incredible. Hi, Lance. For extra credit, name the five guys. No, you don't know. Not yet. I have them. I have them, Chris. Who were they? Adam Duvall, Scooter Jeanette, a Eugenio Suarez, Joey Fado, Scott Schebler in 2020 or 2017. I don't think anybody could have named those five. Even a diehard Red's fan couldn't have named that. I think Scott Schebler would be the guy left off the list. It's tough. Some were Scott Schebler's telling people, I hit more than 25 home runs in a major league season. Yes, you did. All right. Very good, Lance. That was really. Yeah. That was an excellent performance, by the way. So good that I'm even in a good mood now. So well done by you, Lance. I want to remind everybody, while Scrabie will get Lance's info here, this Thursday, it's just a couple of days away, this Thursday, 2 o'clock, Scrabie and I will be out there live broadcast, right? You can come see us. We're at Casa Octavio. Here's where to go. The corner of 10th and J. It's like a stone's throw from Petco Park. You can't miss it. If you know where Petco Park is, you'll find 10th and J come by at 2 o'clock, actually all afternoon before Padre Baseball will be broadcasting live. Now, if it's not enough for you to come meet Scrabie and I, and honestly, I don't blame you because that's not really a big draw. This is a big draw. We're going to be giving away three pairs of tickets to that night's Padre's Metz game, the Thursday night Padre Metz game. Wow. So in order to get those tickets, you're going to want to come by and visit us. This Thursday, our live broadcast, it's at Casa Octavio on the corner of 10th and J. It begins at 2 o'clock, Chrisello, Matt Scrabie. Tony Gwen Jr., of course, will be on the show, but he'll be up in the press box getting ready. But we're going to all be there. 97-3, the fans going to be there. You need to be there. What day is it, Scrabie? Thank goodness you said Thursday because I was almost positive it was Friday and it is Thursday. Yes, it is. So Thursday, 2 p.m. Last time you were going to show up there Thursday, Scrabie will come dawdling in on Friday. I guess so. I don't know where I've been. Yeah, Thursday. This Thursday, 2 o'clock, circle it on the phone, type it into your... What app do you use for that? I'm a Google guy, Google Maps. Google Maps? No, that's how you put your calendar in the Google Maps? Oh, I thought you meant... No, no, no, not how to get there. Calendar, I put it... Where do you put it? Google Calendar? If it matches up with our Gmail for work. Google Calendar. Get your Google Calendar out. I still write stuff down in a book, believe it or not, at home. I have a... Believe it or not, it's not, believe it, is the part of it. You believe it? Yes, of course. You believe it, I have one of those planner, desk calendar planner things. You've got one of those big things and you tear up the big sheet. It's not quite that big, but yes, it's a book lit and it has squares for the days of the month and I write what I have to do in there. With a pen, an actual pen I use. If you can believe it. I do believe it. We're having major controversy on the chat. This is why I'm kind of dissing it right now. The first caller who was naming the teams that have 73 wins said the Dodgers and the Royals, right? Yeah. Okay, a lot of people heard Orioles and it made me freak out. No, he said Royals. Yeah, I thought it was Royals. Yeah, no controversy. But anyway, Thursday, Casa Octavio to a clock. Come on down. Yeah, come on down. Make sure you say hi, we're hang out, we'll have some fun, we'll eat some food, we'll drink some sodas, I'll drink some sodas, gravy, we'll drink sodas. Yeah, you guys, I'll drink, I'll drink some other things. But we're going to be there before the pottery met game Thursday and then we're giving it tickets away to the game. Yes, that's Thursday. Where is it? Scravey? You're paying in the corner of 10th and Jay. Thank you. 10th and Jay. Everybody better be there Thursday. We're going to check some traffic now. When we come back, NFL news and notes, new, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, and a big five. It's all coming up on Gwen and Chris. Just two. Uh, Dodgers? Royals? Stay there, Luke. It's Chris. I don't even know if the Dodgers is right. I'm going to say the Orioles. Sorry, I was trying to stop that. Yeah, he said Royals, everybody. Here we go. I mean, Royals? Royals. He said Royals. It was wrong. Sorry about that, Luke. You got it wrong. It happens. Life goes on. And there was no protesting from Luke either. Huh? There was no protesting from Luke. If he said Orioles, there would have been a protest. He might have protested a little bit. Yeah, I agree. The chat was just trying to get my goat right now. The chat's trying to bug you. You know what I actually heard there? What? If you play it backwards, it says Paul is dead. Oh, like the Beatles? The Beatles album. Yeah, if you play that with Luke said backwards, it'll say Paul is dead. Okay, that's right. Sounds like Paul is dead. I heard Paul is dead. Welcome back to Gwen and Chris. 425 is the time. Chris Elo, Tony Gwen Jr. coming back for the big five here shortly. Mr. Scrabie is running the show here and running it off to rails as always. Adrian Dell Castillo to sit a grand slam. He plays for the Diamondbacks, unfortunately. Nick Ford is his comeback with a solo shot bottom of the third Arizona for Miami one on the baseball scoreboard there for you. You know who should I bring this up? I don't know what you're about to bring up. You asked me should I bring it up? It makes me nervous. I said I was going to do some NFL news and notes. What are you going to bring up? And I know I know we're going to talk about two and the big five. So I'm going to leave that for you. Yes. The commanders have named Jayden Daniels officially their starting quarterback. That's not a surprise. No. Marquez Valdez, scantling out injured Buffalo Shocker. Buffalo is having major receiver issues. Yeah, they traded their best one and their best too. They've traded Stefante and Gabe Davis. Gabe Davis is not there. I didn't realize the heat. I didn't realize that. Yeah. Let's see what else. All right. So here's the other story in football and this. This is an unfortunate story because all NFL players get grouped in here and it's totally not not fair. Oh, I know which story you're going with. Former player and it doesn't even matter his name because I've never heard of them. I've never heard of them either. When they say former NFL or I always think, oh, it's going to be someone I know and then some guy who played for like three plays. It's going to be, you know, Garrison Hurst or something. Hey, you leave Garrison Hurst out of this. The guy's name is Goster Cherillis. He played with the Lions and he was a first round pick. So, you know, at some point he came walking out on the stage and everybody applauded this guy. He's one of the great guys in football history. He hugged Goodell. Yeah, everything happened. Apparently this guy, Mr. Cherillis was on an airplane flight near Boston. I know he's from near Boston. Where was he flying to? He's flying from Boston. Yeah, he was flying overseas. I don't know. I've done that same flight. It's a long one. Well, he almost didn't make it because they could have stopped. I'm pretty sure they would have. I don't think they made it. The judge basically said, it's pretty egregious what you did as alleged. Here's what was alleged. He appeared drunk when he got on the plane. Been there. He allegedly argued with the flight crew about his seat. Have not been there. And an hour into the flight decided to, I know no better way to say this, urinate on an elderly passenger. He then hit another passenger and took that passenger seat and then he passed out. I'm not laughing at the people that are being hit. I'm laughing at the passing out part after all of that other stuff. He said that he took a sleeping medication that he normally doesn't use. And that resulted in behavior that is not representative of his character. I'm going to give everybody a tip. If you've never used the medication before and you're worried about something bad happening, don't do it on a flight to Dublin from Boston because you don't want that reaction. They had to return home to Boston. Are you buying this excuse from him? No, no, I'm not. I'm buying that he drank a bunch, got on the plane and also took a sleeping pills and it mixed and it mixed bad. There you go. Because I could like, although I've never urinated on a passenger before, like sleeping pills make people do weird stuff all the time, all the time. Okay. Well, hopefully we can all learn our lesson from this story, but God, what is going on in this world? You know, we had a on the plane yesterday or on the way up. I can't remember which one it was. We you know how they do that thing where they say everybody needs to sit down and then, you know, they turn on the seat pedal. Well, we were taking off. And as soon as we left the ground, some dude gets up and starts going to the bathroom. And the people are on the intercom like, Hey, you can't get up right now because we're taking off. And the guy didn't care. Just kept going to the bathroom. They had to go put him back in his seat. What goes through someone's mind? What goes through the mind? And I understand if he had to go to the bathroom, he could have said that, but he didn't. He just ignored the people. I don't know what goes through the mind of the guy that when I'm waiting in the line for the, you know, the little ticker light on to get on the freeway. Oh, the metering light. The metering light. And the guy, the diamond lane is empty next to me because there are no people with two passengers in the car. And so Joe blowhard, who's alone in his car, criminal calm. Yeah, just drives right up the diamond lane. I know it's not a big deal. It's not, but I don't get what goes through your mind. Because I got to do it. Go do that and just go, I just doesn't apply to me. We have an apply for a reason. It keeps our society in check. I don't understand that either. And I always love it when I see someone get told y'all love to see that person get nailed. Yeah, but it happens too infrequently. It does. Like when I, I love it when the cop is standing at the top of the hill, waiting for the person driving alone to use the diamond lane. We love this. We actually would like to get out of our car and dance and sing and applaud. But then we'd probably get a bleed over to it too. When I, I just, but that's the whole thing with me scrapers, the same thing with you. I don't even go like, how is that a thought process? You know what? That doesn't apply to me. I'll just go ahead and do it. I don't even get the thinking. Somebody in the chat who's like a cheating person and just does whatever the hell they want to do, explain to me what goes through the person's mind who just gets in the diamond lane because they can. I can't explain it. Like I don't get it. Like do those people stop at red lights? I would hope so. Like you don't have to. You don't have to. I would hope so. You know, you don't have to. I wonder if those people certainly suggested. I think I wonder if those people are those sovereign citizens that say that they're not bound to the rules of the United States because they're a sovereign citizen. Have you ever seen this before? They won't give drivers license. They won't give registration. They don't have to follow any rules because they're a sovereign citizen. Okay. We've been ranting a lot. If we've been feeling good. Did anybody tell me tell you what happened to Hassan Kim? Did we get a report on him yet? I'm not going back there. Not going back there. He's not playing tonight. If you just joined us, that's pretty much all we know. 432 is the time Padres pregame. Scrabies got it at 530. Yep. Everybody tune in and listen to the game tonight. Sammy Levitt is calling his first major league ball game. You have to tune in for some of that. All right. It's all coming up. And next is the big five with Tony and me and Scrabie and everybody. All right. We got to get to today's pick five. There's a lot to do. Got traffic and Scrabie gets us going on a whole bunch of stuff. It's that time of the show when we check on the latest in sports, only the most important topics light. Stop what you're doing and listen. These new stories will astound and amaze you. The one. The only. Oh my god. Who the hell. Cash. The big five starts now on 97.3. The fan. All right. Happy to be back for the big five. And we're going to get right into it with Brian Hoeing because Brian Hoeing is quickly becoming one of my favorite Padres and he was actually on MLB network radio on Saturday and he was asked by the host what his experience has been since he has been traded to the Padres. And here is what he said. You know, a new environment. Obviously, you want to come out there and show that, you know, the trade with your worth and the trade and just show that your new teammates said, you know, they can trust me. And when I come in into the game on the mound that I'm going to come in there in any situation and just, you know, give my best effort, try to get some outs for the team and help the team win. Also, you know, playing at Peko Park, you know, it's basically a sellout crowd obviously with games. So I think the fans sharing behind you is definitely added to some adrenaline on the mound, which obviously makes sure your self played a little bit better and just having that fan support there during games. And most importantly, I think defense behind me too. There's been in my not in my nine innings with the Padres so far. I mean, I can count, you know, six or seven, eight good plays that the defense has made that has really helped me out, you know, to get through to submitting there. All right. That was Brian Hoing on MLB network radio on Saturday. You can see that it sounds like he has had a great time playing here in San Diego so far. But Chris, where does Brian Hoing rank in the Padres bullpen right now for you? Well, first of all, he ranks number one on my list of mayoral candidates for the Padres. He's trying to get votes everywhere he goes. I mean, he's true. He's giving applause to the organization for bringing him in. He's giving applause to the fans for filling up the ballpark and he's giving applause to all of his teammates for making great plays behind him. So if he runs her office, he's going to be, he's going to be in good shape as far as where he ranks in the bullpen right now. I mean, I don't really know that the ranking matters per se. You know, I mean, I know everybody wants to do. There's a number one guy and a number two guy. I think he's the number one guy for the situation that he's needed, which is kind of anything, a Swiss Army knife type of guy. You know, I would think if everyone was down, or, you know, they'd already used a couple guy, I wouldn't think Mike Schull would hesitate to bring him in in the ninth inning with a one run lead. If that's just how it had to happen one time, he's pitched that well. So yeah, I don't know what his ranking is, but I think he's, you know, right now, incredibly reliable. Tony, where's Brian Hoeing rank in the Padres bullpen right now for you? Yeah, I think Chris's answer is kind of spot on. Like, I don't know that this bullpen outside of Suarez who we know is the closer. I don't know that anybody else has a spot. We've seen Scott set up. We've seen Adam set up. We've seen a slew of different guys do the seventh inning or the or the or the sixth inning. And so I think it's just the situation, the match up, and it's a it's a great problem for Mike Schull and moving the able to have that take a look down at both head and feel pretty good about all of them. But Brian Hoeing is, I think, is I think Chris sitting down in the head like Swiss Army knife, you can kind of use him in any of those spots. And he's shown that whether it's being the swingman spot or set up spot or whatever it is, he's shown the ability to go out, get out. Yesterday, the San Francisco Giants played their final games at O.co Colosseum this weekend. And Mark Cannon even scooped up some dirt from home play after the game to commemorate the occasion. I say this, let's say that to bring this up Saturday night, the local news station up there had a full on 30 minute Raider pregame show in the Bay Area, even after they left. Obviously, there's still interest there. Now, I was told many times from family members over the weekend, they're done with the A's and they're not going to be following the A's the Oakland. However, Raiders fans have followed or followed out of Oakland Raiders fans have followed the team to Las Vegas. Tony, do you think A's fans would follow the team wherever they go? Who followed what what's the A's fans will follow them before that? What was he saying that the Raider fans have followed them the Vegas because they have a radio show, no, no, host game show or dream show in Oakland? Yes. Okay. First of all, the Raiders brand is not the same as the A's brand. Raiders are in that Cowboys like cross the nation type deal like you find Raider fans everywhere. So I don't think you can necessarily, you know, compare the two. I for what don't think the A's will be able to take too many Oakland fans away. I mean, they have had a long history of at this point of pissing off their that fan base. So if they get a couple, that would make sense. But I don't think they're going to have a large fan base of Oaklanders that decide to go with the team where they end up whether they end up in Vegas or not. I think that bridge is kind of been burned. Yeah, Chris, do you think A's fans would follow the team wherever they go? Well, first I want to comment on the Raiders having a pre and post game show in Oakland for the Las Vegas football team now. That's nice. And it's all well and good. But we in San Diego still carry just about every charger game. But we don't have dedicated pre and post game show, do we have post season coverage? We have if you go on the right channel, I've I've run into it myself. You know, you know, surfing channels. I've seen weekly charger talk shows that air here in San Diego. I immediately moved past them. The fact that the Chargers are shoved down our throat in San Diego has kept a few people following the team. But I don't think that San Diego in any way shape or form has followed the Chargers to LA. So I don't think that just because they're putting it together a little show there a couple of years after the Raiders have left that the fans of Oakland are truly following the Raiders to Las Vegas. That said nobody's following the A's to Sacramento. Thank you. Absolutely. No one I don't. I mean, yes, yes. Sacramento is not too far away, though. Yeah, right. I mean, people could go to a game. It's a couple hours away, hour and 45. But I can't see it. All right. Number three, it's really upset by this Raiders show. They don't even show up to the A's games in Oakland. Why are they going to go show up to an A's game in Sacramento? What'd they do that for? My uncle said he just bought tickets because it's been fun to go to games with no one there. Which is kind of true. The Dan Levittard show had a sit down with dolphins quarterback to a Tango Valoa. And he was asked to a was what the biggest difference between his former coach Brian Flores and his current coach, Mike McDaniel is and Tua did not hold back to put it in simplest terms. If you woke up every morning and I told you, you suck at what you did that you don't belong doing what you do that you shouldn't be here that this guy should be here that you haven't earned this right. And then you have somebody else come in and tell you, dude, you are the best fit for this. Like you are accurate. You are the best whatever you are this you are that like how would it make you feel listen into one or the other. You see what I'm saying? And then you hear it you hear it regardless of what it is the good or the best and you hear it more and more. You start to actually believe that. I don't care who you are. You can be the president of the United States. You have a terrible person that's telling you things that you don't want to hear or that you probably shouldn't be here. You're going to start to believe that about yourself. And so that's sort of like what ended up happening. And it was I mean it's basically been what two years of training that out of not just me but you know a couple of the guys as well that have been here since my rookie year all the way down out. That was Tua with the Dan Levittard show and I could ask you is Tua Soft. I could ask you should Brian Flores get another job but I'm going to ask you this Chris. What's the end game for Tua here? The end game for what? What he said today? Yeah I mean why did he why did he feel the need to why did he feel the need to bring this up? Because he could have just said you know I feel like Mike McDaniel is a better coach that's better suited for my skills. Well I don't know. First of all I'm not going to say he's soft. I didn't ask that. But I just want to comment. I want to comment on what I heard there. And I read earlier. You know I want to comment on it. I don't think he's necessarily soft but what I wanted to point out is we had a we had a situation in here in San Diego with the wave not too long ago where an employee felt like they were treated terrible by an employer who you know just you know actually returned the favor and filed a lawsuit against the person who blamed. My point is I think a lot of things can be true here. Brian Flores might have been tough on to uh and maybe to it didn't appreciate a coach who was tough on him. But I think that that is unfortunately become the way of a lot of younger athletes nowadays. I think they need to be coddled a little bit more than athletes used to be and that's a general statement it doesn't apply to everyone. So having said that I mean look I have a lot of people who write me on Twitter all the time tell me how terrible that I am at this job. Sorry I hear it all the time. I you know so maybe I shouldn't do it but I think you got a you got to have a thick skin especially if you're going to be the quarterback of the national football league. So I'm happy for two of that Mike McDaniel has been so supportive. I think that's a lot of the reason why he's been more productive and I think his end game here was trying to explain to people why it took him so long to be as good as he's been lately. I like that. Tony what is the end game for two here? This is going to be one of those shows today where I feel like Chris is like in my head they turn these answers. That's I mean that's as good as I think you can say it. I was going to say almost the exact same thing that you know certain guys adapt or not even adapt are just better suited for certain coaches and certain styles of coaches. I think the key thing in that thing was he said if I can put it in the simplest terms the problem with that is when you're when you're being coached up I don't know that you could just put it in simplest terms and explain you know how that actually went because it virtually sounded like he totally me sucked and he didn't belong there but that was in the simplest terms right. So how that was being relayed in real time I don't know that that's the explanation that gives us a great understanding of exactly what happened. I think that was just kind of in order to keep it short. He had to choose those words but I think Chris is right. I think we are and I give you an example earlier in the season baseball season where I'm Washington went off on I think it was Guillermo or Guillermo for not getting a but down. Yeah. And he aired him he aired him out publicly and you know I I you know going across this country to go to different stadium I ran into a couple former players I won't mention who they are but they felt like in the time that that was the wrong way to go about it. Now these guys came up a little bit after I did it but it was around the same time and in my mind I'm like that is you know to each his own right. Like they felt like that was unnecessary to go public but my feeling was I'm pretty sure where I'm Washington didn't just wait till he probably said that to the guys face as well and that's just an old school way of coaching and an old school way of accepting that coaching I must say is if a coach aired me out honestly and said you should get the bunk down and I was asked about it I'd probably say yeah I should get the bunk down. Yeah. But in this day and age I think a lot of people say how dare he say something publicly about me. So I think that's there's a difference. And so I think that is you know there are many styles of coaching and not everybody thrives in a ultra positive environment. You know some people need to the kick in the rear end if you will to kind of get you going. You know it seems like a guy like Tom Brady thrived in that kind of environment. And so you know I think you know that's uh I think Chris is right this is kind of how it goes in today's day and age. I have a theory that the reason we're quote unquote soft these days is because we get criticism from every angle. It doesn't matter where we go. We have criticism in our face. It's a different level of criticism in 2024 than there ever was for all of us. Did I mention today screaming that you really could be a little better what you. Sorry. Thank you for delivering that carefully because you know how I take those things. I'm very sensitive. Yes you are to a. He's your quarterback. I know. With flag football said to make its 2028 Olympic debut many NFL players are saying they want to play but there is at least one flag football player who wants to let the NFL players know they're just going to get a spot on the team in his mind. Daryl who should do set it who is the team USA quarterback said to the athletic. I think it's disrespectful that they just automatically assume that they're able to just join the Olympic team because of the person that they are. They didn't help grow this game to get to the Olympics. Give the guys who helped this game get to where it's at their respect. So who's up Tony's up. Do you agree with him Tony? I think I kind of do. Yes. In a small way. I mean I think there is something to be said about all the people who have been playing this game that got it on the map that you know got it to this point. Like I can I can totally understand that kind of the feeling that this this uh I don't know if he's a young man or what but this man has. Hoosh. Hoosh. I can I see it. Now then there's the the other side of the coin which is at the end of the day are how much are you going to value those that brought in that kept this game alive or brought this game to the forefront versus what you know America loves to do more than anything when when and if you know you're going to if you're going to prove the fact that you know you're going to be able to help do that then absolutely but I do think regardless there should be some consideration for the guys that certainly help get the game there. Does that mean they need to play in every match or game that they have when it comes Olympics? I don't know but um it's a just based on what we know about Olympic USA Olympics and how we move um this might be an uphill battle for. I mean Tony the comments are all saying that same thing like yeah we don't want to lose we want to actually win this thing. I mean I'm not even I'm not even uh I'm not even mad at that opinion because I mean I don't know would we all be okay with a flag football team showing up that isn't our best I don't really care to be honest okay I want to win I want to win but I also want Hoosh to be on the team because who she kind of do too well maybe he'll know it's gonna go his way though yeah I don't think every guy who's like playing right now should make it but Hoosh definitely should for some reason in my mind Chris do you agree with Hoosh? I agree with Hoosh but Hoosh is not going to be playing and here's the thing for Hoosh yeah Jason Tatum was hardly even playing for the United States basketball team he's one of the greatest players in the history of the sport but Steve Kerr deemed that in order to win the gold medal it was best to have Jason Tatum sitting out I'm pretty sure that whoever the coach of the football team is whether it's manning or manning either manning or whoever it is is gonna love Hoosh's story but when they get a chance to put you know Patrick Mahomes in at quarterback uh it's gonna be pretty tough for Hoosh to see some playing time so this is a wonderful thing you know it's a wonderful notion but as Tony said and you agreed we gotta have the gold medal because what would happen if we didn't get a gold medal that's not sure you cheered actively against Team USA basketball elite I know I don't share that trees in there I don't I don't share that trees I know I don't share the the thing that we have to win a gold medal at every single thing I like it but it's you know to me it's not the end all but to the US just run this off off base question which sports do you deem that we do have to get the gold medal in archery I don't know there's none breaking there's yeah there's none that I feel we have to get it I would say swimming track and field skateboarding I just I just feel like if we had like uh let's say a three olympic run where we weren't meddling you know dev like in basketball or something no like in like everything like we just oh like we lost out to china and france and every day came in like third or four like you know like we're just happy to be there right it's in our place that's more like for like four olympics we didn't finish like on the leader board where you could see us when I grew up we didn't finish on the leaderboard I must tell you the USSR in Germany used to whip our butt and I thought the olympics were still cool I you know it's okay it's okay with me I see I haven't grown up in that era it all made USSR whipped us badly Chris is a fan of the Soviets there you go we've had this guy you've been a treason at this whole time I grew up behind the iron curtain my friend the one FBI's on their way I know the lockdown all right so at the Chargers home game against the Rams over the weekend there was something that happened on the video board that caught everyone's attention a guy in a Rams jersey in his quote unquote girlfriend we're shown on the kiss cam and he ended up getting getting up to propose while he was with proposing a fan with nachos tripped and spilled the nachos all over the guy proposing on the big screen people thought this was fake in it was fake the Chargers seemingly set this up how do we know a Rams beat reporter tweeted out that she saw the rehearsal of this before the game and knew it was fake all along so I switched my attention to the woman last year at a Chargers game who was cheering like no fan actually cheers and I maintained it was a setup Chris is it kind of weird that the Chargers I just ask you do you now believe that was a setup last years thing was a setup everybody said last year's thing wasn't a setup that's all I can go with on that it did look kind of set up to me but since everybody said it wasn't I have nothing to prove otherwise but this particular incident you had a kidding this is the charge it was at the Chargers home game I believe so Saturday night just they actually went out of their way to try and entertain the fan base by having a fake proposal and a guy don't nachos on the program quote unquote the home team yeah I don't know who does this kind of stuff I don't get it I am lost I'm completely lost I and I am so flabbergasted that this comes out to be a fake oh my god there's there what won't they what won't they do nowadays exactly I don't get it I don't get it I the Chargers are if they're not the worst organization in sports they they're just in so many different ways they just boggle my mind and this is another one so wait this wasn't this wasn't the Rams this was the Chargers the Chargers the guy was in Rams Jersey so the Chargers oh I see so the Chargers are ripped I see there so they weren't trying to entertain us they were trying to rip oh I think they were trying to create a viral moment this was their way of ripping their opponent by saying look at the Ram fan proposing and yes we dumped nacho cheese on him yeah yeah the Chargers are so stupid I can't even fathom it just being any dumber than that Tony I don't even know what I go with because I want to ask everything but do you think last year was a setup now that this was proven a setup no you're still wrong on this that wasn't a setup this sounds like it was a setup and it's pretty stupid I just you know why why even um I don't even understand it honestly like where's the point of by the way dogging the team that you're paying rent to to be there that's true that's true like what kind of this it's like disrespecting the landlord like so you can get a picnic I don't understand it it's just yeah it's a very a charger e-moon so it's almost like they just try too hard sometimes that's what it is they do try too hard all right that's it for the big five when we get back we're gonna get you set for this important series between the Padres and twins on 87 to
