[music] Good evening. I have a very old fair of you to come to our little expiré this evening. Ladies and gentlemen, please stand by for Cookie on the Big L. But my hair is still in courage. [laughter] You're a stupid fool. Where are we going tonight? Oh, the usual cocktail joint. Big L. [music] At 0700 hours tomorrow morning, my shutdown disk will be activated, and all mental and physical operations will cease. Then what? I don't know, maybe I'll get a job as a disc jockey from this one. And now, here he is. It's Cookie. Oh no! Music. Oh, yes it is. A very good evening. I had a very warm welcome along to another Thursday evening swari with me, Cookie, taking you through to the Beatles hour at 9 p.m. UK time. Stand by for two hours of wonderful music and a fair bit of mayhem into the bargain. And thanks to Gary Jackson for the last hour. We'll be back same time tomorrow. Music. That's our middle name. Wonderful music. The I.T.L. And, of course, back a little bit later for a little tinkle with our sing along. [music] Into our 5500 with the Supremes. [music] I need love, love, to ease my mind. I need to pan pan. Someone called mine, but mama said, "K-Hearing love." Oh, you just had to wait. She said, "Love don't go easy." It's a game of giving take. K-Hearing love. Oh, you just had to wait. You gotta trust, give it time. No matter how long it takes, but how many holidays must just stand before I find a love to let me live again. Right now, the only thing that keeps me hanging on when I feel my strength. Yeah, it's almost all. I remember mama said, "No." You just had to wait. She said, "Love don't go easy." It's a game of giving take. I love myself. How much more can I take before loneliness? Well, cause my heart, heart to break. Oh, I can't bear to live my life alone. I grow impatient for a love to call my own. But when I feel that I, I can't go on. These precious words keeps me hanging on. I remember mama said, "No." You just had to wait. She said, "Love don't go easy." It's a game of giving take. K-Hearing love. No, you just had to wait. She said, "Trust give it time." No matter how long it takes, but... No, no, no. Don't come easy. But I keep on waiting. I'm too soft, waiting for that soft voice. To talk to me at night. For some 10 day arms. To hold me tight. I keep waiting. I keep on waiting. But when I'm easy. That ain't easy. But mama said, "You're catering up. No, you just had to wait." She said, "Trust give it time." No matter how long it takes, you K-Hearing love. You get a positive charge out of... Big girl. Hey there, Georgie girl. Swingin' down the street so fancy-free. Nobody you meet could ever see. The loneliness there. Inside you. Hey there, Georgie girl. Why do all the boys just pass you by? Could it be you just don't try? Or is it the clothes you wear? Shopping but never stopping goodbye. So shed those dowry feathers and fly. A little bit. Hey there, Georgie girl. There's another Georgie deep inside. Bring out all the love you hide. And I know what a change let me. The world will see a new Georgie girl. Hey there, Georgie girl. Dreamin' of the someone you could be. Life is a reality. You can't always run away. Don't be so scared of changing and rearranging yourself. It's time for jumping down from the shell. A little bit. Hey there, Georgie girl. There's another Georgie deep inside. Bring out all the love you hide. And I know what a change let me. The world will see a new Georgie girl. Hey there, Georgie girl. There, Georgie girl. Hey there, Georgie girl. A couple of Jolly Ones to start off from our 500, the Supremes. You can't Harry Love and the Seekers and Georgie Girl. So a very good evening to you. It is Cookie Live and Lively with another Thursday evening. Swari, what else? Whatever the tasty morsels we got on the menu to tempt you with this evening. When we have a long song from Kenny Lynch, we'll be in trouble with the Lord to bring a smile to you. Face a little bit later on this hour. Who will save you? Who will you save your vote for? From our hour to opener. I wonder, what's that all about? We'll find out very soon. Part of our hour to be taking you back to this very week in 1957 for our 510 chart recall. All this plus, of course, a do-up and your emails and requests. And of course, it wouldn't be Thursday evening without a sing-along. So I hope you're in good voice. Tonight is Kamala Harris's night, the biggest speech of her political career, and everything is at stake. There is no margin for error for her tonight. Remember that just five weeks ago when she first became aware of the fact that there was an opportunity to become the Democrats' presidential candidate, her approval rating was 38.6%. Joe Biden's was 38.5%, so she wasn't any more popular in the country than the president she served. She's hoping to use this speech tonight absolutely to turn that around. And also up five places to joint number eight went Johnny Duncan and the Blue Grass Boys. Oh Johnny Duncan and his blue cross boys with a bitty bit of bump on their number. Joint number 8 with the last train to San Fernando. We are recalling that chart dated 17th of August 1957. Down three places to number 7 went Russ Hamilton with We Will Make Love Ure and also down three places to number 6 went the Diamonds. [Music] [Music] [Music] I love her. I was drawn up. You could try. You will not help me. You will not help me. You will not help me. [Music] My darling, I need you to call my old and never do wrong. To hold in mind your little hand. I love to see that all is so red. Please hold my hand. [Music] [Music] Yes the Diamonds there at number 6 with little darling. We are recording that chart dated 17th of August 1957 and up two places to number 5 went Islands in the Sun by Harry Bellafonte and down two places to this week's number 4 went Lonnie and his skiffle group. And he was putting it on. Sweet 16 goes to church just to see the boys laughs and screams and giggles but every little noise turns her face a little then turns her head a while but everybody knows she's only putting on the style. She's putting on the agony, putting on the style. That's what all the young folks are doing all the while. And as I look around me I'm sometimes after smile. See another young folks are putting on a style. With a young man in a hot rock car driving like his man. With a pair of yellow gloves his pirate from his dad. He makes it roar so lively just to see his girlfriend smile but she knows he's only putting on the style. She's putting on the agony, putting on the style. That's what all the young folks are doing all the while. And as I look around me I'm sometimes after smile. See another young folks are putting on the style. The preacher and the pulpit roar us with all his might. Sing a glory hallelujah. It's the folks all in a pride. Now you might think he's Satan. That's a comment down the aisle. But it's only a pulpit preacher. Boys it's putting on his style. She's putting on the agony, putting on the style. That's what all the young folks are doing all the while. And as I look around me I'm sometimes after smile. See another young folks are putting on the style. She's putting on the agony, putting on the style. That's what all the young folks are doing all the while. And as I look around me I'm sometimes after smile. See another young folks putting on the style. That's what all the young folks are doing all the while. And as I look around me I'm sometimes after smile. See another young folks putting on the style. Yes, putting on their socks and putting on the style. Lined on a gun there at number four. We are recalling that chart dated 17th August 1957 and up three places to number three went. Elvis Presley with his backing singers singing about hot bananas and the one called Teddy Bear. Also up three places to this week's number two went Pat Boone with love letters in the sand. Which means it was a non-mover at the top spot talking of Elvis. Number one. I guess it was him again. Oh well a bless to my soul of what's wrong with me. I'm itching like a man on a fuzzy treat. My friends say I'm acting white as a bug. I'm in love. I'm all shook up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well my hand is shaking at my knees a week. I can't see me standing on my own feet. Who do you think of when you have such luck on my love? I'm all shook up. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well please don't ask me what to hold my mind. I'm a little mixed up but I feel fine when I'm near the girl that I love best. My heart beats so it scares me to death when she touch me. I know what the chill I got. Her lips are like a bucket on her that's hot. I'm proud to say that she's my buttercup. I'm in love. I'm all shook up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My tongue gets tired when I try to speak. My inside shake like a leaf on a tree. That's only one cue for this body of mine. It's just a hell of that girl and I love so fine when she touch my hand and what the chill I got. Her lips are like a bucket on her that's hot. I'm proud to say that she's my buttercup. I'm in love. I'm all shook up. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm all shook up.
