And a big thank you to Gary Jackson. That's an end of an era, isn't it? A handover from you. We'll be getting a lovely handover from our good friend. Yeah, at the time of the motel, man. Yeah, he'll be with you next week. And of course, Gary, all the best you on your switch over on your showtimes. It's good to know you there. [MUSIC PLAYING] Wonderful. Wonderful. Wonderful. We'll be trapped by the speed of two thousand, one hundred eighty three miles per second. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Good evening and a big warm welcome, how are you? Thanks for joining us here on Big L International and thanks again to Gary Jackson for a fabulous big one. Oh no, look forward to him. Handing, connecting up with Phil Troll next week. How are you? Have you had a good day? I hope you have. We're going to have a good evening. I'll tell you, I've got some great music lined up for you for the next two hours. [MUSIC] A big thank you to Chris Williams for carrying on and looking after the show for me last week while I was out and had a good night out with my wife. That's the most important thing. And Wednesday was the only one we could do. And we went to a show. And then we had a nice meal. So thank you for asking everybody. [MUSIC] You'll request any request you'd like 01255 808 1113. Or of course you can email studio@bigelradio.co.uk. Now there's a reason I played that Venus Night Flight to Venus by Bonium at the beginning. It brings back rather unusual memories to me, that song. And I'm asking you, any song that you have a special meaning or a memory, let us know we're playing it for you in part two. No worries. Maybe in part one if it's time. So any song with anything special to you, let us know what it is. We're getting sorted out for you. And of course tell us what the memory is. Why was one coming already? [LAUGH] Mary and Walker, you're fast. Thanks very much. You must have been ready for that. [MUSIC] We've got some big old factoids for you from 1965 and '66. And of course the regular Jack Shepard request spot as well. So let's go on with the music. And a few reminders of who we are. And what we do, we are big old. And of course you are. [MUSIC] If all radio stations in town were palm trees, we'd be the one with the biggest coconuts. [LAUGH] Big help! Help! Help! Help! [MUSIC] Hi. Oh, Johnny Walker, God bless you. What are you doing? Hi, this is one of the original Pirates, Johnny Walker. With a reminder, you're listening to Peter Twilight right here on Wonderful Big L. Enjoy the show. And all the best of you, Johnny. Let's get this show on the road. Let's get this show on. That sounds a good idea to me. Here's the Ebony Brothers. Walk right back that I didn't have time to play. When I was covering yesterday, was it? Yeah. [LAUGH] [MUSIC] I want you to know that since you walked out on me, nothing seems to be the same way. Think about the love that burns within my heart for you. But good times we had before you went away, oh me. Walk right back to me this minute. Bring your love to me, don't send it on. So long since every day. [MUSIC] I want you to tell me why you walked out on me. I'm so long since every day. I want you to know that since you walked out on me, nothing seems to be the same way. Think about the love that burns within my heart for you. But good times we had before you went away, oh me. Walk right back to me this minute. Bring your love to me, don't send it on. I'm so long since every day. I'm so long since every day. The Everly Brothers there and of course it was a track that was on Guess the Intro yesterday when I was covering for my good friend Ray Heaven. And didn't have time to play it because I had so much other music. Talking of good music, here's Buddy Holly, every day. [MUSIC] Every day, it's again closer, going faster than a roller coaster. Love like yours will actually come my way. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Every day, it's again faster. Everyone said go out and ask her, love like yours will actually come my way. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Every day seems a little longer, every way. Love's a little stronger, come what may. Do you ever long for true love from me? Every day, it's again closer, going faster than a roller coaster. Love like yours will actually come my way. Hey, hey, hey, hey. [MUSIC] Every day seems a little longer, every way. Love's a little stronger, come what may. Do you ever long for true love from me? Every day, it's again closer, going faster than a roller coaster. Love like yours will actually come my way. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Love like yours will actually come my way. [MUSIC] This is good. I told you, they're the best. [MUSIC] Well, give us a chance. We've only just started the show. David and Trina, this is especially for you too. [MUSIC] Dusty spring boat, some of your loving. Some. [MUSIC] You gotta give me some, give me some of your loving. You gotta give me some of your loving. No, I'm not a greedy girl. I don't need a world. Just give me some of your loving. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Now I don't expect you to guarantee your fame and devotion to only me. I'm aware you've got a lot of white oats to sow. But baby, when I need you don't tell me more. You gotta give me some, give me some, give me some, give me some, give me some of your loving. No, I'm not a jealous child. You gotta give me some, give me some, give me some of your loving. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. [MUSIC] Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. [MUSIC] I know a man likes to feel that he's been around. It's all he decides to stand down. I fold down, someday you're gonna feel that way too. But baby, just remember, I'm dead, you do. You gotta give me some, give me some, give me some. You gotta give me some, give me some of your loving. No, I'm not a greedy girl. I don't need the world. Give me some, give me some, give me some, give me some, give me some of your loving. Give me some, give me some, give me some, give me some of your loving. You gotta give me some, give me some of your loving. Dusty Springfield, therefore, I don't really have that in the playlist, and you ask for it. You read my memory, you really do. It's great to have your company, especially for you, David and Trina. There's a voice message coming in from Helmutte over in Germany. I'll listen to that in just a moment. But first of all, let's get these out of the way. No, first of all, more importantly, let's tell you why I played Night Flight to Venus, because it's brought back special memories to me. And that's what I've been asking you for, and you're flooding them in already, which is great news. And I think a tune that brings back a memory of something odd, funny, romantic, holiday, parents, Christmas, whatever you like. And of course, that particular song, I was going on a very, very special business trip with a colleague who was a director of another company. And I met him at Peterborough Station, and he was a real character. He had a real sporty car with a cassette player. That's how long the guy it was. And when I got in the car, what was it started off, that Night Flight to Venus. And as soon as the introduction finished, room off we went, and we were 200 miles before you knew it. We had a great time, and we had a good business trip as well. So they're well. Right, so that's the reason I played that, and let's have some of your reasons as well. So I love to know all about you. Yes, the intro! Gonna do number one and two for you. Here's number one. And number two. I don't know where my baby is. And number one for the first half executive, because we're having two execs now. One in the first half and one in the second half. So here's the first half executive for you. Who sings it? And what's it related to? And what shows did he do? Anything you can give me on that song. And he acted in his own songs as well. How do you contact us? Contact Big L Radio now. Phone. Oh, one, two, five, five, eight, oh, eight, one, one, three. Female. Studio@biglradio.co.uk. Quick flesh, number one. Number two. I don't know where my baby is. Oh, that's gonna be in part two, that one, I tell you. And that one is the executive, yes. Well, I missed you last week. Here's Christopher missing you. Thanks again, Chris Williams. I've been missing you. I've been missing you. I've got the roses. I've got the wine. The little love she will be here on time. This is the place we used to go. With romantic music and the lights down low. And as you stand there amazed at the door. And you wonder what all this is for. It's just a simple thing. I'm meeting you. And maybe that I don't. 'Cause there's something that you should know. It's that I've been missing you. Of all that words can say. And I, I'm thinking of it every day. And the time we find. Just dancing nice and slow. And I said, "Nah, I found you." I never let go. There is no reason to the things that we do. We can break our heart with just a word or two. Take a lifetime to apologize. When the one you loved in front of your eyes. And I will fall to my knees like a fool. If it's the only way I get them through. You see if I, you are beautiful. Someone else has known you too. So there's only one thing to do. Tell you, I've been missing you. Of all that words can say. And I, I've been thinking of it every day. Well tonight, I'll die. For dancing nice and slow. Because now I found you. I never let go. No, now I found you. I never let you. You see if I, I've been missing you. You see if I've been missing you. You see if I, I've been missing you. You see if I've been missing you. You see if I, I've been missing you. You see if I, I've been missing you. You see if I, I've been missing you. You see if I, I've been missing you. I've been missing you. But had a great evening last week. And once again, thank you to Chris Williams. He'll be covering a few more of my shows. Because I'm going to be flying off on Hollybobbs in a few weeks time. I need you though. You don't realize how much I need you. Love you all the time, I never leave you. Please, come on back to me. I'm lonely as can be. I need you. Said you had a thing or two to tell me. How was I to know you would upset me? I didn't realize as I looked in your eyes. You told me, oh yes you told me. You don't want my love anymore. That's when it hurt me. I feel it like this. I just can't go on anymore. Please remember how I feel about you. I could never really live without you. So come on back and see. Just what you mean to me. I need you. But when you told me. You don't want my love anymore. That's when it hurt me. I feel it like this. I just can't go on anymore. Please remember how I feel about you. I could never really live without you. So come on back and see. Just what you mean to me. I need you. I need you. I need you. The Beatles therefore, this evening, I need you. What a great track and what a great band as well. They've covered the world, didn't they? They really did. Hang on. Patrika, you're something else. You're asking me to repeat the other guests the intros. But you've already got the executive and the details about it as well. That's great. We'll play that for you. And we'll give you the answer to it. We'll play the guest the intro other two that you want repeated. So well done to you Patrika. And thank you for your memory track as well. I've got that lined up for a second half for you. Okay. I hope that's all right. So big well done to everybody that's there so far. John in Derbyshire just got your request and we'll slide that in the second half for you as well. It's the heart and soul of rock and roll. Big L. George Benson coming up. Where are we? Turn your love around. Little number from 1981. Enjoy the music. I enjoy playing it for you. That's for sure. Good evening and welcome. [Music] [Music] [Music] You got the love you got the power. We stayed till the end and caught the first train back the early morning train, the paper train, the work train, back to home and Mum and Dad were okay about it. Take me home. Take me home. Take me home. Dreaming of another time when we walk with dignity. Here in the morning sun we are waiting for the summer to remind us of the day. See what you think to this, it's called What's New. Yes, it's Marvin Gaye. What's new, how is the world treating you? You haven't changed a bit, lovely as ever, I must admit. Well, and that was Aubrey Jack, I hope you enjoyed that very much indeed. She was a singer, songwriter, musician and an activist, and she played mostly contemporary folk music, including songs of protest and of social justice as well. She has performed publicly for over 60 years, releasing more than 30 albums. Here's a sample of her work, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Her true cane is my name, and I drove on the dandel train. Till so much cavalry came and tore up the tracks again. In the winter of '65, with her hungry just barely alive. And all the people were singing, they went nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Like my father before me, I'm a working man. And like my brother before me, I took a rebel stand, while he was just 18, proud and brave. And of course, the Marvin Gaye, a bit of a special Marvin Gaye there. You really wouldn't think it was him unless I told you, but I'm telling you the truth. No Borg is here. And of course Joan Byers, what a great singer, a bit of a protest singer. And she was a very good friend of another protest singer, a folk singer guy, yes as well, very close friends.
