A fun moment with Buffett at our restaurant in Nashville, TN

welcome back to adventures of a black belt solier appreciate you joining us in the late 1980s early 1990s I owned a restaurant in Nashville called F. Scott's we sourced our seafood from very highly regarded fishmonger named Ingrid Benghis and our chef Josh weekly had previously been the chef to cuisine at La Bernadine which is generally guarded as easily the best seafood restaurant in America. So we were very proud of our food and we were the restaurants very successful but we were really really proud of our calamari definitely not a La Bernadine dish but we were really proud of our calamari we thought we had the best calamari anywhere and any time that we were out my ex-wife and I were out anywhere that served calamari we would always order it just to be sure that there hadn't been a usurper coming up to take our places having the best calamari anywhere we were on vacation then tuck it and the day before we came home we went to a restaurant called Rope Walt Cafe which basically hangs out over the ocean and they had calamari and it was prepared very differently from ours but it was calamari so we ordered it to share and when it came we each took a bike bite and we looked up at each other and it pretty much in unison we said oh my god they have better calamari than we do and so I came back to Nashville the next day determined to somehow close the gap between us and the Rope Walt Cafe. I went to work the next morning about 15 minutes after the restaurant opened and Jimmy Buffett and his wife were sitting at the first table right inside the front door and they were each having our calamari. I knew Buffett pretty well from this time in Nashville and we had mutual friends in the recording industry so anyway I went over and said hello and I think we probably hugged we were good enough friends that we hugged and I said so how's the calamari he said and Buffett said I think you have the second best calamari in the world I said really and he said yes the only better calamari I've ever eaten is it Rope Walt Cafe in the tucket I was at Rope Walt Cafe the day before eating the calamari and I said they are the only restaurant I know of that has better calamari than we did and then Buffett tells me the next day that the only restaurant in our in the world that he's eaten at that's better calamari than ours is the Rope Walt Cafe that is an amazing amazing I don't know coincidence or moment of kiss met for whatever it is and my response was well Buffett if you think I have the second best calamari in the world I think I'm doing just fine and I appreciate your joiners I hope you're enjoying adventures of a bike boat someday You
