What time is it? It's the air Thursday Thursday, Tom Thayer. Thayer. 1985 Super Bowl champion and football analyst for the Chicago Bears. You need to win the division, win the division, get into a playoffs. Former offensive lineman. Do they need to get better? Do they need to give up less sacks? Yes, of course. Tom Thayer. Tom Thayer. It's Thayer Thursday on Captain Jaywood, ESPN Chicago. Good morning, Chicago. And welcome in to the Captain Jaywood Morning Show on ESPN 1000. And we're streaming on the ESPN Chicago app with David Kaplan, Jonathan Hood with you. We've got Jay. We've got Jaymore. We've got you. It's a game day Thursday. It's the Bears and the Chiefs. Cover starts at 2.30 right here on the home of the Bears. ESPN 1000. And Jeff and Tom will have the call as we go to the Car X Tyrant Auto Hotline. Rattle, rattle, thunder, batter, boom, boom, boom. Don't fully call the Car X name. We turn to a Super Bowl champion. Color analyst for the Chicago Bears. It is Tom Thayer. And he joins us here on Captain Jaywood. Good morning, Tom. How are you? I'm doing well, man. How are you guys doing? We're doing awesome. I have a question for you. You can off a cousin or you lose one of your French Bulldogs, and it's not your favorite cousin. Who you picking? There's a couple of cousins I really don't like, and I'm kind of facing that dilemma right now because my oldest bulldog, my oldest Frenchy, Ernie, I'm going to have to put them down within the next couple of weeks. So I'm trying to figure out a plan of how I'm going to do, how I'm going to go about it. I'd like to bury them in the backyard. My next door neighbors have made a headstone for them. So I'm trying to read up on how to do that properly. All right. So definitely the cousin. Yes. The Chicago Way. No question. And our sympathies, because I've been there, it sucks because the dogs are so important in your life. Yeah. This guy's been a great guy, he's been super and he's kind of helped raise the other two I have, and he'll definitely be missed. Our network coverage starts at five and then Bears and Chiefs at 720 right here on ESPN 1000. Tom, what is your letter grade for the offensive line this preseason? Incomplete because I haven't seen the group of guys for enough snaps in order to really get a feel of who, what, when, where, and who, you know, I mean, who is going to be in what place? I, you know, you know, Braxton and Darnell are going to be the tackles, Kevin's going to be the left guard, but what are they going to do at center and right guard? Do they feel that Coleman Shelton, who I think has played the best at center and had the most snaps to get Caleb into a comfort zone? And then what is the health status of Ryan Bates? And where is Nate's mind at right now? If Nate's confident and he's ready to go for 17 games and it's not going to be in an out type of role, then it's probably Nate Coleman, Kevin, and then Braxton and Darnell. And I'll give you a grade three or four weeks into the season because I haven't seen enough of that group together to even formulate a grade. In terms of looking at a game like tonight and your football guy, your whole life has been dedicated to this sport and you watch tonight. There's no Caleb. There's no Mahomes. There's no Kelsey. There's no DeAndre Swift or DJ Moore, whoever. There's still really cool stories to watch. What is something that tonight you really want to see? You know, what's one of these guys that are getting an extended role to play in the modern day NFL preseason that's going to make the team because of that. You know, we haven't seen Noel Sewell play at all throughout training camp and at 6-2, almost 2-50, he's been a good linebacker, but Ogbe, Ogbe, Bani, I can't even say it. Ayman, he's been a good number four and number 45 and Carl Jones Jr. has been a really good linebacker. So, you know, one of those two guys may have an opportunity to make the team and then you look at guys like Daniel Hardy because they haven't had any Jacob Martin since the first day of training camp, who they thought was really going to be able to take some snaps at the outside defensive end position. We've got to really learn a lot about Daniel Hardy and he's played well and he's deserved the chance to make the team and so someone tonight is going to be able to get an extended playing time and make the team. And then who's going to be the third quarterback? Do you want an experience back up like Rippen or do you want Austin Reed, who may have a higher upside and then you got to make a choice? Do you think Bayless Jones Jr. is really going to be the guy or do you want Tyler Scott or do you even think maybe Ian Wheeler deserves the opportunity? So, it's those kinds of stories that I still definitely have interest in. Tommy, Waddle was on with us yesterday talking about Bayless Jones making the team. These are his thoughts. We want to get your response. I don't. This is like, there's so many things about this crew and what they've done that makes sense to me and look, I have nothing against the kid, he's not really a kid, he's almost my age. You call him sir. I think it's like we've seen enough, haven't we? This is my concern. I don't think that if you put him in a game as a wide receiver, you're going to get from him what you would get from somebody else. And I think if you put him back on kickoff returns, which these days, based on what we've seen and by a lot of people's assessment, it's a glorified running play, who's more equipped to get more out of that play, Bayless Jones or Khalil Herbert. To me, it's Khalil Herbert. So I just don't, you know, maybe in a different life in a different organization, things would have turned out better, but I just don't know why the emphasis on keeping Bayless Jones is there. I mean, I understand he was their first draft pick on the offensive side of the ball, but you know, we were told this going to be a really hard team to make this year because the talent has been upgraded and I agree with that 100%. Look, if he, maybe I'm wrong. I mean, it wouldn't be the first time if he steps in and becomes a difference making returner or gives him a spark in certain ways. So the thoughts there from Tommy Wattle, what do you think of that, Tom? I like an assessment because, you know, you think of Tyler Scott and Colin Johnson, number, you know, who had a really good Hall of Fame game, who's got a lot of size, almost six and we saw what Tyler Scott was capable of getting beyond the defensive back and hopefully it would have converted into a touchdown with a defensive back hit and grab him. And then the, with Bayless playing in the running back position, he's primarily just been fed sweeps and you can't do that. I mean, because then you're just going to have the defensive coordinator react accordingly and you're going to limit the success of what Bayless is trying to offer you. The best punt catcher on this football team is Dante Pettis. And then they also have DeAndre Carter, if you want to kick returner and his T. Wattle and mentioned Colille Herbert and, you know, really any of the running backs could go back there and do it. So, you know, does he, has he earned his jersey already? I don't think so. You know, would he enhance the opportunity if he played on multiple special teams and he was productive more as a wide receiver than as a running back because I think you could take anybody, you could take DJ Moore, you could take Roma Dunes. You could take any of these guys and put them in an eye formation, throw them a quick screen, throw them an end around, give them a couple handoffs and they could probably get the same production out of the opportunity that Bayless has. So I think he's one of the guys that's on the hot seat and maybe they're trying to feature them in multiple positions to make a more possible trade possibility. In terms of the backup quarterback spot, that's obviously Tyson Bajans. In the number three spot is that we better have a veteran there, Brett Rippens got six years of experience or Austin Reed and unsigned kid. They got for five grand in his signing bonus and maybe he goes to be a developmental guy that they feel they could develop. How aid do you think they handle it and be how would you handle it? I'm always a young guy, you know, I like bringing up developable guys. You kind of know you have enough taste in the investigation box about Brett Rippen and what he can do and what he hasn't been able to do. And then when you look at Austin Reed and what he's been able to do on a college level and how young he is and where he could possibly go at 6-2-20, he fits the template of a good thick sized quarterback, a young arm. And so, you know, there's a lot of positions I'm like that cap. I would rather go for a young guy that his development is ahead of him. And I think he could probably help the quarterback room and learn a lot from Shane Waldron in the initial stages of his NFL career. Well, offense to Brett Rippen because he's been a model guy out there and training camp showing up every day and playing well. But maybe today, I think Austin Reed is probably going to get the entire second half and we'll get a better indicator of where he's at at this stage of training camp. It's a Bears and Chiefs at 7-20, Tom Thayer along with Jeff Joniak will be on the call right here on the home of the Bears, ESPN-1000. Tom, last couple of days we've been talking about Tom Brady's comments. He was at the Fanatics Fest that took place in New York City over the weekend and he talked to Stephen A. Smith about rookie quarterbacks being forced in today's NFL. Once you hear from Tom Brady, we want to get your response because I don't think you've talked about this yet. There used to be college programs. Now there are college teams. You're no longer learning a program, you're learning a playbook. And the program is ultimately like at Michigan, for me, that was a pro-style program. Five years I got to learn how to drop back past, to read defenses, to read coverages, to be coached. I had to learn from being seventh quarterback on the depth chart, to moving up to third, to ultimately being a starter. I had to learn all those things in college. That was development. Then I went to New England and I was developed by Coach Belichick and the offensive staff there. I didn't start my first year. I think it's just a tragedy that we're forcing these rookies to play early. But the reality is the only reason why they are is because we've dumbed the game down, which has allowed them to play. It used to be thought of at a higher level. We used to spend hours and hours in the off-season and training camp trying to be a little bit better than next year. But I think what happens is discourages the coaches from going to deep levels because they realize the players don't have the opportunity to go to a deep level, so they're just going to teach them where they're at. You heard from Tom Brady there of Fox. What do you think? There's a lot of things he said there. Dumbing the playbook down and also force-feeding rookie quarterbacks to play in the NFL versus when you played. Well, I disagree with him dumbing down the program because ever since John Agrud became a head coach, he's made the terminology for the quarterback so difficult. It takes you a year or two to master the terminology to understand what it says to every player with a built-in audible and then how their assignments fit into those 10 guys. If you call the second play rather than the first, so the dumbing down part I don't agree with. If you listen to Peyton Manning, he says he believes rookies should play because the only way you get experience is to get playing experience. In Tom Brady's super fortunate that even though he played for a defensive minded head coach that he had McDaniel in place for such a long period of time that he was learning the same offense year after year after year and then refining it and perfecting it. The one thing that some of these young quarterbacks are up against, if you look at Gerard Mayo, if you look at Dan Quinn, and they both have new quarterbacks and so if they go and they develop the quarterback that they've been lucky enough to draft this year, that offensive coordinator is going to be on the head coaching trajectory and that's my same worries about Shane Waldron and so the guys that have been had the luxury of being in the same system Patrick Mahomes for example, they get to refine it and perfect it. Offensive football is repetitiously learned so like I said, I disagree with the dumbing down because I actually think the terminology has got more complicated than when I was here and it was I right moved to Brown right, you know, tossed 28 near GEO or West 88. That was the extent of our our play calling West was the direction of the protection 88 was the route for all the receivers ready break. Now it's a paragraph per play and it's you know, there's more than just a key catch phrase for everybody and it's even more complicated for every quarterback that has to recite that after hearing it in the helmet. You know that was the one thing that was encouraging me to see on hard docs this week is when Caleb had interference in his headset. He was able to piece together what the play was being called even though the connection device was being interrupted and that was really probably the biggest sign of encouragement for me where Caleb is going rather than some of these quarterbacks would have to take a time out and then point to their helmet as look, I didn't hear the whole play so I don't know what I'm saying. In terms of the hard knocks show the other day, Jay Moore and Hoodie and Shay and I have all watched and I'm sure you have to where Caleb's headsets going out. Here comes the equipment guy. All right, I turned this one down. Let's see if this one works better. The narrative that was being painted was he struggled the first four possessions because his headset wasn't working and he had to work through that. Is that overblown? No, like I said, I'm glad that Caleb was able to get through that but the helmet guy is Andy Coquales and that's his sole job is to make sure the quarterbacks helmets are perfect if you've got a hand of one right after another and you know those communication devices are important especially for the young quarterbacks and I like it and I was talking a lot about that last year with Justin and it's almost like name that tune where you play a couple of notes on the keyboard and then you can name what the song is. That's the way quarterbacks need to get to. You need to hear the first four or five words out of my mouth and then you can take it from there. And so like I said in the signs of growth of a quarterback, it was encouraging for me that Caleb was able to get through it and I don't think the struggles of the throws were because of the interruption in the listening device. I think it was more of timing, balance and just some inaccuracies early that gave those guys I think was three consecutive three and outs. Correct. So Tommy, going back to your career against the Chiefs, two and one against the Chiefs as I can see here, can you recall your game? I'm going back to the 21, it was 31 to 28 in which the Bears, you guys went six and one, you beat the Chiefs there were one and six. Do you recall this? This is 1987. Yeah, I mean, I only recall just because of the history of some of the defensive players they had and it was always where do we play them in Kansas City? It was at Soldier Field, looks like, yeah, 31, 28, a win for the Bear. Yeah, I don't remember a lot of it. I remember a lot, I mean, there was a later, there was a game later in my career when dance Salabula, Sally Amua, a big defensive lineman, played up there and he was a big body tough to move and Jay may have missed the game and, you know, it was always not as easy going and they're playing if Jay wasn't playing center to get a bad ankle. And then a 1917 win for the Bears in Kansas City, Jim Harbaugh was the quarterback. 13 for 20, good for 98 yards. You know what happened? You know what happened, Cap, running the football, Neil Anderson, still underrated. Neil, Tim Whirly ran the 11 for 59 ironhead, Hayward, six for 18. But then you got Keith, like a Tom Waddle three for 19 in that game. Yeah, you know, you know, you know, earlier than I've been listening to you guys for a while on the app and you're talking about the villains of college football, you know, now that Harbaugh was not, Harbaugh was a villain, no matter if you like them or not. And I know Cap is not a Notre Dame fan because I was listening to you a couple of weeks talking trash about him. Notre Dame has always been the villain of college football because I think if you sat and opened your lines and took a poll, you'd have as many people that don't like him that do like him. Yes. So they've always been, you know, a villain of college football because of their non-attachment to a conference and in the way cap says it has, we carry ourselves, especially the fan base. They're so freaking arrogant over there. All right. You don't have to do that. Jimmy Johnson doesn't go for two like a moron in 1988. Notre Dame doesn't win the national title. Kick the extra point, tie, get out of there and they're the champs. Still ball. You know. Hey, what was your last year as a bear, 92? Yeah, 92, and then I played, I played 93 with the dolphins. Because Waddle told us a story that in, I think the year David Gordon and made the field goal to beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame for BC, I think that was 93. But maybe I'm wrong that he and Chris Zorich were huddled over a TV. The bears had a game at Kansas City and they were going through, walked through. And Juan, he was furious that they were watching a TV rather than paying attention to the walk through when David Gordon banged through the field goal. You weren't there for that, right? No, no, no, no. I was down in Miami watching it there, probably sitting in a nice lawn chair at 80 degrees, enjoying enjoying a fun year of football. Hey, Tom, have a great call again. The last preseason game, the last press rehearsal as the bears take on the Chiefs, 720 is the start. You're joining us. Wow. Thanks for having me guys. I appreciate it. The best. It is Tom Thayer with us on the hotline. The car X tire and auto hotline rattle, rattle, thunder, batter, boom, boom. Don't worry. Call the car X our training camp coverage brought to you by Hard Rock Casino, Northern Indiana. What will you be listening or watching for tonight? We've been talking about the bears. Are you going to watch? You're going to listen 3 1 2 3 3 2 ESPN 3 3 2 3 7 7 6. Thanks fans. We're talking to you and getting your phone calls in here next on cap and Jhood. We're back, baby. We're back. We're back on Chicago's home for sports, ESPN, Chicago. Captain Jay Hood on the ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN, Chicago app. Bears and chiefs, 720 right here on the home of the bears, ESPN 1000. Forget our postgame show afterwards with Peggy and York and crew right here on the home of the Bears, ESPN 1000. Pretty guess what? So Tom, I just was looking up there's bio because I clicked on just because I wanted to enjoy myself. I clicked on the video on YouTube of David Gordon's field goal that was drifting wide right to win it and it's like it was on a string. They pulled it back inside the uprights. What Boston college wins? Love it. So as I'm reading Thayer's bio, I did not realize that when he played for Jerry Faust at he played for Dan Devine, I think, and then Jerry Faust, they were 7 and 0 rolling. And they only won two of their last five losing to eventual national champion Georgia. He lost to your bulldogs. Go dogs. Go dogs. That's exactly right. Love Tom Thayer, her name football, not so much. Oh, my God, I don't have the problem another day and like you do. I guess the reason that fan base is just intolerable. I just I don't like the invented football. They didn't. They did not. But Lou Holt said though. I liked Lou. Lou was cool. I had a run in with Lou and we buried the hatchet and we're good. Actually a very difficult right team, respect what they can do. I think that, you know, I do have a problem with it to Notre Dame and the reason why is because when Georgia marched to South Bend and beat their ass, had no problem. Notre Dame went down Athens. We beat there. No problem. So I had no problem with Notre Dame. They were there a few years ago. You and I don't think we were doing the show yet. Notre Dame. Georgia played at Notre Dame. And then I think the Atlanta Braves were playing the Cubs. Yeah. You remember this weekend. Great weekend. But we weren't partners yet, right? I don't believe so. All I remember is talking to you and you said play Georgia on the money line. They were getting five and a half at Notre Dame. That's correct. This is before they'd won any of the titles under Kirby Smart. And so I did on your recommendation, Georgia wins. No question. Yep. No question. They hate Notre Dame and it's actually join an F in conference. You losers, please, like for the love of God. Look at their home schedule. It's pathetic, especially during these like it should have. That's a conversation last 20 years, but especially now, what about now? Join a conference and play a real schedule, enough with Stanford and you're like hosting the scraps of the big tech, like stop, play real teams, get in a conference and play real teams. I hate them. And then, oh, well, why are we left out of the playoff? Because you don't play anybody and you don't play a conference title. You're in a show. Here's their schedule. Are you ready for their? It's fair. Faunted Notre Dame schedule. They open. Tough one. Number 20, Texas A&M at college station, Texas, August 31st. Then they're home against my Huskies of Northern Illinois. And they're at Purdue, home with Miami of Ohio, home with Louisville, home with Stanford, home with Georgia Tech, home with Navy, at, no, home with Florida State, I believe. I mean, it's like this team doesn't play anywhere. They got USC on their army, Virginia. I mean, what are we doing here? You know, in this iteration of college football, where there's like a million teams per conference, you would think that Notre Dame would have found their way in. And they're just part of three independents. It's them, Massachusetts and Yukon. Come on, Cap. Yeah. Can't you make more? I mean, can't you make more money in being part of one of these conferences? Are you afraid? Are you afraid? And they're like their Navy game? Neutral site. Of course, they wouldn't go to Navy. They're all like, the midshipmen will be there. They've got Florida State at home. They got Virginia at home. They got, I think army might be a neutral site game. Come on. What are we doing? Play somebody Notre Dame. I think they play four true road games. It's like, and good, good for you going to Texas A&M, great, but you're playing four true road games. Come on. What are we doing? I want to see them play. Why don't you go play in Alabama? Notia. Why don't you play Georgia again? I got a, oh, but it's the exclusivity with NBC and they want us. We're so, join a conference, please play games on CBS like the rest of us and play a real schedule. Like, wait. Enough. It's so stupid. We don't agree on a lot. I'm with you a thousand percent. He just laid out the play on CBS like the rest of us. It's stupid. Especially now that the NBC has the big 10 deal with joined the big 10. You know how ridiculous that sounds. Oh, we only play on NBC and we play Navy and we play Army and Stanford and Georgia Tech. Dude, F off play real teams. You know, you sound like someone from 1979 with that. I get it. Do on CBS like the rest of us. I get boomerang about college football and this one of those things like, man, Notre Dame. I don't want to hear about it anymore. Get in the conference and play something for real. That's so good. They're so stupid. I couldn't believe it. Their schedule is literally an embarrassment. But not that college football isn't on ESPN or or Fox play on CBS like the rest of us. Who says that? I've pissed off Big Ten fan who's got a plate. I got to watch Purdue in Wisconsin on CBS now, gone are the good old days. We get Rocky Top and Georgia on CBS at three 30. It was beautiful. Now I got to watch garbage Big Ten. He's looking for Brent behind the desk. I want to see what I kill. I kill for Brent. Gary Danielson, you're looking low and it's right. It's kneeling stadium. Rocky Top. Instead, I got to watch Indiana play Nebraska. I'm good. Listen to Texas A&M. They're not exactly like going to win the national title. They have Notre Dame, McNeese, Florida, Bowling Green, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi State, LSU, South Carolina, New Mexico State, Auburn, Texas. That's a schedule. I know. Notre Dame, that's a joke. By the way, Cap, Inside Media, Notre Dame, changing the play-by-play guy again. Yeah, they got ricks. Dan Hicks. Jack Collinsworth. Jesus. Like, Toreko to Jack Collinsworth to Dan Hicks, it's like, you can't even get a steady play-by play man for that job on the TV side. Listen. Why did they get rid of Jack Collinsworth? Did you listen to the broadcast? No, can't say I did brutal. He's not good? No, no. He's a good sideline reporter. Studio man. That weekend I brought up to you, Frank tweeted us. Braves played the Cubs all weekend, UGA played in South Bend, and then the Falcons played the Bears Sunday at Soldier Field. Yeah. Wow. That's a great weekend. I was there in South Bend for that for the Georgia Notre Dame game. That was fantastic. Oh, my God. I was a little nervous with the Georgia license plate holder, who, I was wondering if my car was still going to be there, but it was safe. That was tough. But no, I enjoyed that. But this, I don't have the major problem with Notre Dame. I know people are like, for or again, I don't have a problem with them because Georgia beats their ass pretty good. So they could be on our schedule all the time if they care to. Got no problem with that. That's it. That schedules a train rack man, they immediately should be banned from being the playoff. She can't get an early line on Notre Dame, Northern Illinois on my birthday. Notre Dame's probably laying 40. Okay. So, so Husky. Okay. Husky play. Okay. Cool. And play into Calms. Can I get a home and home cap? Seriously, that'd be beautiful. Like, if I was doing the scheduling still, but that's football, I was basketball, it would be like, we'll give you a two for one. We'll come to you twice. You come to us once. And guess what? We went into the Joyce Athletic and Convocation Center and beat their ass. You know what Digger did? Cancelled the rest of the contract. Scared. They still owe Northern a game. They're supposed to come to us. We beat their ass in South Bend. There's no way they was coming to the Calb. Absolutely not. That was so great. Scared. Take that. Digger. And I like Digger. I got no issues with Digger. Three, one, two, three, three, two, ESPN, three, three, two, three, seven, seven, six are our phone number. Hey, are you going to be watching or listening to the Bears and Chiefs? We'll get your phone calls on that also cap again, just taking a sledgehammer to Notre Dame for Tom Thayer in his hotel room. He's punching the air, listening to, to you go after Notre Dame again. He is not happy. Well, when he was there, at least they played people. They played teams that had, you know, legitimate programs. Look at that schedule. That's a joke. That should immediately disqualify them for being in the playoff. Oh, okay. More calls coming up on Captain Jay Hood. Take that, Tom. Here's to Dave's headline, headline with Captain Jay Hood. Well, Nick's back again in Chicago baseball. You see, White Sox got the job done as they salvaged one of the three against the San Francisco Giants out west. They get today off Cubs, not so fortunate. They hung in there down four, two headed to the ninth, and then the newest Cubs pitcher, Jack Nealey, who came over in the Markleider junior trade. Well, it didn't go well for him in his Cubs debut. He gave up four runs in the ninth, and the Cubs fall 8-2 to Detroit. They'll finish that series today. And tonight, here on the home of the Bears, ESPN 1,000 are coverage starting with Waddle and Sylvie Carm in York, cross-talking at 2.30, pre-game begins at 3, network pre-game at 5, Bears in Kansas City to take on the defending Super Bowl champion, Kansas City Chiefs. No Caleb Williams and the ones for the Bears, no Patrick Mahomes and the ones for the Chiefs. Still roster battles, to be watched, you'll get it all here in that post-game. Peggy and Carm and Miller and Pat, all of them, all night after the ball game. Jay Moore! If you missed something, get the podcast on the ESPN Chicago app. And Jay Hood are back on Chicago's home for sports, ESPN Chicago. Captain Jay Hood, weekday morning 7-10 here on ESPN 1,000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. Watch the show and all the shows here at ESPNChicago on Twitch, twitch.tv/espmewethoung Chicago and also on YouTube, YouTube.com. For ESPN Chicago, hit that subscribe button to ESPN Chicago's YouTube channel. Captain, you get a text from Danny. Last half hour? I have a check, let me look. Last hour maybe? To our group chat or just direct or what? Either one. The last thing I got from the Jayhawk was I'm with Cap on the cousin or dog question. Hmm, okay. Yeah, I texted them Tuesday, I haven't gotten a response yet. But that was to our group text. Yeah. He hasn't responded to me since last Tuesday, so I guess you know what that means. If he's not responding to my text, then there must be something cooking. Maybe there's room for me on the Breakfast Ball Show. Maybe that'll be my next move. 312-332-ESP and 332-3776 is our telephone number. How's New York this time of year, Cap? New York? Um, you know, that's where my mom's from, from Brooklyn. Uh-huh. So I hold a place in my heart for New York, but I'm not a huge fan. I see. All right, I was just wondering if, you know, if everything is okay because he hasn't reached out to me, so we'll see. We had Evan talking trash about us on Sportsman like, did you see that? I heard about that, yes, I heard about that. Yeah. So it was, uh, informed by Chris Canty, our guy that we have rescinded the ban against Michelle Smallman for her bad bears take several weeks ago because we are now in the final six to get her bachelorette rose to pick a new team because she's a St. Louis fan and they don't have a team anymore. So she's looking for a new team. She's made the finals, um, our guy, the fake packer fan, Ben Bruss, up in Wisconsin, uh, Ben was trying to court her yesterday on their fine show, but Michelle texted her, uh, tweeted with me and said, I'm an Illinois girl that she's from the state of Illinois. Yes. No, she's not a Cubs fan. She's a Cardinal fan. I get it. Well, they don't have a team down there. If you're an Illinois girl and we're taxing down the runway to greatness, getting ready to take off, I think she has to pick the bear. Lisa, I think that's the hope. Yes. She loves Chicago. She loves Michigan Avenue, but she loves Chicago. Yes. She loves the shop. I'm a big fan. So I think that the hope is that her new love will be the Chicago Bears. But Evan, when Canty said the ban lifting only applies to you, Michelle, Evan goes, I'm banned. Yeah. I'm still banned. And he said, okay. And he basically kind of threatened our jobs. Oh, okay. That's okay. I got hands. I got an escape. I got protection. Ask him dot com. 3 1 2 3 3 2. ESPN is our full number. Oak Park. Here's Mike on cap and J hood. Mike, good morning. Hey, good morning, guys. I love the show. Thank you. Appreciate you. Just a piggyback. It sounds like we're moving on, but the phone Notre Dame thing, which I hate Notre Dame. And what a bunch of self indulgent nonsense garbage program they are. You know, we talked about the schedule that they play, which, you know, they might as well play the Oak Park little Huskies and they'd probably get their bus with them. Let's talk about, you know, that kid that was in the cherry picker that, you know, they let fall to his untimely death, you know, or the girl that the football team had their way with and they turned a blind eye to that that that that program is garbage and they should be ashamed of themselves. They don't play anybody and, you know, it's embarrassing that we're even talking about them. All right. We appreciate talking. Thank you. Thank you very much. That got dark quickly. Oh, my. Wow. Yeah. We were just talking about who their, their, what their schedule is. Correct. And he went scissor lift on us. Man. That's what he just did. He did. Who? Well, that, that's how polarizing Notre Dame is. Even though cap, it's a program that has national acclaim, it's not just a, it's not a Midwestern program. It's a national program. Look, honey, there's no doubt it's a wonderful academic institution of higher learning. It is. And I have no issues with their basketball program. Micah Schruzberry, their head coach, super good guy. But you remember last February when a group of my buddies and I went to see Notre Dame play Duke in basketball? Not because Notre Dame was there, but because Duke was hosting us. We went to the game. Well, I'm standing out there with my friend Scott Patick. And here comes the Notre Dame bus. The team gets off. There's the coat. Hey, Scott. What are you doing here? I don't see a game at Cameron Baba. He sees me and I've known Micah and he's like, hey cap, I know you're not cheering for us. I said, actually don't dislike the basketball program. It's the football. Okay. It walked away. Oh, man. Like my reputation is intact in South Bend, Indiana. Rob and Sugarland, Texas, listening on the ESPN Chicago app joins us on cap and Jhood. Rob. And then he can see Notre Dame do a home and home with Alabama, but you got to make it another five and six years, Kat. Wow. Did they sign one? It adds on their future schedules. So unless all this conference realignment changes that somewhere down the road. Let's go. Let their future schedule. Abdullah, I got to go with you to the game, man. And you, Abdullah, I'm all in. I'll wear, I'll wear a freaking crimson tide thong. Whatever. Let's go. You got to make it five and six years. That's, that's your goal, your life goal. Isn't it? Is it in Tuscaloosa? Well, it's a home and home. It's home. It's home and home. It's in South Bend and then the following year at Alabama and then I want to go to South Bend. I want to tailgate with Abdullah and I want to wear like all crimson tied stuff head to toe. Wow. And college station a week from Saturday for the game. So yeah, because that's going to be a great game. Absolutely. It's going to be fun. Let's go Aggies. Get it done. It's a six thirty game night game. Oh boy. That's going to be fun. You brought his kids up, you know, all black and handed his wife, you know, bishwerry thing he's just feet from September until February, the second your brother made an obituary for himself. Yes. It made a big way for himself saying he's to see from September 8th on the February show, hopefully it's a very good Super Bowl. Is his face in the clouds on that obituary? What is it looking like you what is that? It's just got his face and he put the known the RFP rest of these from September on February and he got to NFL and college football games all on it. That's spectacular. So there you have it, Derek, his brother's dead until February. I got you, man. Well, enjoy being dead for those few months, man. So hopefully it's a blessing. Have you done any studying a play of the day like like this bear game or the Cubs tiger at 120? Well, I'll give you what my friend, the fat Jack, the star of the black and up. Well, they're the stars of the black and up dollar show. He's one of their lead contributors. Thursday baseball Milwaukee minus 118 and the Indianapolis Colts over 34 in pre-season football. Brewers, Colts over. Wow. Courtesy. Fatjack sports. Dot count. Do you agree? Do you have anything on the Colts over? I do not. I liken betting on pre-season football to lining up to get punched in the face. So you do like the Bears over 32 and a half today? Okay. Got it. So Shane Norling on the record likes the over breaking news the 32 and a half in this one. There you go. Good luck to each day. Hope that works out and the bear is a one and a half point favorite, which is odd. Yeah. Good luck. You bet. You bet a side in a pre-season game. You are just asking to get kicked in the nets. This is a Tyson Beijing game. He'll got it. How much he plays. They got to keep him healthy. I'll bet you it's more ripping and read. Carson Wentz playing for the Chiefs tonight? He is that. I wouldn't think so. They play some other guy. Yeah, that's that is a in book production. I think at some point, isn't it? Jesus. Oh God. Oh God. A Notre Dame quarterback. Wow.
