[MUSIC] >> There's corners are off, Gordon Blitzing, which I don't see him, and Barry's in the chest, and down goes Woodside. >> Literally knocked his block off. Help it came off, never saw four. >> Gonna throw it down the field, shot down the field, pass caught inside the tenon. A rookie to rookie connection, Williams to a new J. >> After David Liam, dancing and moving in the pocket, pressure escapes, spins to his left. On the move again, outside the numbers. Now he's gonna tuck it and go with Turlan Jenkins in front. He's in for the touchdown, a scramble of seven for number 18. >> Snaps to Woodside, in trouble, and down he goes, you have nowhere to go. [MUSIC] There's Probert fishing for room, bounces left, reversing field 30-35 to the 40, first down to the 45. >> After Beijing with time and a throw right corner, the end zone, catch Pettis, touchdown baby. [MUSIC] >> What's up Chicago, and welcome in to the cap and J Good Morning show on ESPN 1000. And we're streaming on the ESPN Chicago app with David Kaplan, Jonathan Hood with you. And cap, it's not just here in Chicago, but it's all over the country. As people are starving for the NFL, it's back because of the preseason games. People are looking for highlights and looking at it on Instagram and their TikTok just for the highlights from the preseason. Well, you'd be hard pressed not to see the highlights of Caleb Williams and the offense as the Bears of the United Bengals by the score of 27-3. It did not start off well, but what we saw is glimpses of what Caleb Williams did at USC and what he did for the Bears in that game Saturday against Cincinnati. We got to see a lot of different things to evaluate, Johnny, because he started slow, he missed a couple of throws, and you could tell he was frustrated on the sideline. He's talking to Shane Waldron, he's talking to Roman Dunezay, and then he comes back out, I think it was Drive 5 where, oh man, the light went on. We're good, and he made a really good throw to Rome who happened to be beyond the back line of the end zone because the way they had painted it, there was a second line back there, and you could see Rome look, oh, I thought that was the end zone. He's a rookie, he'll learn. The throw he made to Tyler Scott that led to a pass interference, you don't get the yardage credit, you get the penalty credit. The throw he made to a Dunezay down the left sideline, which was just, I mean, a sensational throw where he didn't really get to set his feet. He hit a bunch of plays, and then he ran the one in with the Escort from Teva Jenkins for a touchdown and a 90-yard TD Drive. We saw good, we saw not so good, and it just reinforces everything that I don't want to speak for you. For me, we've got a dude. Finally, finally, after so many years, we have a dude. Now he's got to continue to develop. What I really like, Cap, is just going back to watching him in college at USC, and now we're being with the Bears. Some things I watched on a late Saturday night I saw on Saturday afternoon, and that was William's ability to avoid the pass rush, but also have a throw that's accurate. It's one thing to go on the run, but also to be able to throw accurately, and so we did see that one play, that crazy play to Roma Dunezay, and also the play in which William Scrambles for the touchdown, kind of my home's asking that way. That's saying that he's not saying he is Patrick with homes. I'm saying that that's out of his playbook to say it's all broken down, it's on me, I got to run for the score, and that's exactly what we saw. Also, some of those tighter window throws too. Will they be there in the regular season, I think, from time to time? With that tight window throw, we had to commit. We also was very strong as well. So what I liked is, is that there was a confidence, there was time for him. Give the offensive line credit. We've talked a lot about him this spring and summer, but the offensive line has given him some time to think about it. That time won't be there in the regular season. I'm just telling you right now, he's had some time, but he's going to have to get the ball out quicker. That's one, but number two is that when he has a chance to scramble, he will and be able to get some yardage. And I like that that he's not afraid in there. He's not afraid. Look, there's going to be ups and downs. There's going to be days where you go, wow, I thought he was better than that. There's going to be days where you go, Oh my goodness, do you see our guy? That's what happens when you play rookie quarterbacks against men. He's a 22 year old kid going up against 28, 30, 32 year old men who are more physically developed who don't understand the ups and downs and ins and outs of professional football. But there is no anybody that knows anything about football, fan, writer, scout, coach, anybody that watches that kid play will tell you that dude's a player, that no doubt about it. If you watch him and think the bear shouldn't have taken him, then tell me you don't know football without telling me you don't know anything about football. Some thoughts now from Kate Williams, meaning the press on Saturday. I think I'm a little bit more fiery in practice because obviously this practice, you want things to be right. Also you can be competing versus your defense. So you get to knows a little bit more free time within those those periods and things like that. So it's also understanding that and also understanding the game and understanding that, you know, within the game, there you have to know, there's going to be times where you got to get on your guys or get on yourself or, you know, encourage the guys or, you know, get on somebody. Like I said, I'm in this times where it's just, okay, you know, let's, let's keep going. Let's, you know, stay, stay cool, calm, collected about the situation and, and encourage that, you know, this next drive, this next play, this, you know, we have a TV timeout and we had a couple TV timeouts getting a huddle, say a few words like, and, and, and be that positive influence on the guys and then just stay cool, calm, collected. I think in the offense, you know, between the guys and myself, we also, we have on the standard of excellence and, and, and perfection that we know that we obviously will never be able to fully accomplish. But, you know, with that mindset, it only pushes us to be better. So it also allows me to just kind of, you know, be easy and be calm. And then when it's time for me to speak up, when it's time for me to say something, you know, I'll be right there to do something. Yeah, scrambling ability as well. The way he was able to scramble. Where did he learn that? It's something that I've worked on in practice. I mean, watching Ann Rogers just, and I know he's, he was a Green Bay guy, sorry guys, but watching Ann Rogers, and all his times, you know, he's passed 19, 20 years. I mean, he can do unbelievable things, right, left, running straight, running left, running all these other things. And so, just, just practicing it over time, perfecting it. Obviously, you know, there's gonna be times where, you know, I don't put exactly where I want to. But, you know, today it worked out, Rome ran a great route, or Rome had a good exit plan from his route and got up filled and made a marvelous catch, a wonderful catch. And, you know, I tried to just give him a shot. I don't know, Cap, all this Air Rogers talk. I don't know if he's the guy. Not sure about that. Take that. Take that. It's amazing. The number of people who were so anti Caleb got to get the haul and keep Justin. The locker room's gonna fall apart. Oh my God, we're gonna lose all the good players. They're not gonna want to be here. And all that goes away. And now a lot of those same people, they know who they are, are jumping back on the bandwagon going, "Oh man, I'm all in on Caleb." Like, Shay, you have been, and I love watching the interactions, where you go, "No, no, no. You don't get to just jump on the bandwagon now and go, "Yep, all in." There has to be some pennants, because they were so brutal. For me, it's not the people who were like, "I would prefer Justin Fields. I know Caleb's great. I just, I like what we're building with Justin and I'd like to see him another year." And then they move on and get Caleb all good. Whatever, you're good. The people who said horrible things about Caleb Williams, who lied about his talent, who lied about his character, who took every piece of bait that was thrown out by the national media, trashed this kid, whether locally on the radio, on TV, or on social media. No, you are going to be reminded by me how much you hated this dude. You don't get to just hop on board with him. So do you have bookmarks? So you have your bookmarks, so that way you can give your receipts later, right? Miles Long. I'm locked and loaded all season. Okay. I'm doing what you're doing. I'm bookmarking a bunch of these, so that not that I want to go back at them, but if they ever dare, I was always in a Caleb. B.S. because I know who these people. In fact, one of them we work with, and we were interacting texting this weekend. And I love them. But you remember our friend Pat, the designer, going, putting a video out when I coined chasey greatness blasting me. You remember that? I do recall, yes. Yeah. Pat, the designer. Well, again, I'm a huge fan of Pat. He and I were texting over the weekend because he put out a tweet, and I'll read it to you, and I wrote him back and said, oh, no, no, no, no, you didn't just do that. Pat, who does a great, what's that? Yeah, go ahead. Pat does a really good job on our Chicago Bears podcast. He put it out a tweet, just the feeling I get every time I watch Caleb Williams, and Caleb Williams over Justin Fields feels right. I said, no, you didn't take that. And so we had a nice little dialogue. Oh my God. But he's like one of a billion of them out there that were coming at us, coming at us on a daily basis. And now like, that's all forgotten. No, that's you're not allowed to do that. If you're going to have to be on one side of the fence or the other, eventually you can be on the bandwagon, but you just can't just sonically just like that. It's like, no, I'm on on Caleb Williams side. I don't think that's right. I mean, stand your ground. If you feel like Caleb Williams is less than Justin Fields, you have to eat that take. Don't you got to eat it. You have to eat it. Go look, I was not all in. Now I am. I would like to be fast forward to the Titans game, please. Can I get there? Like, I like some of the things that we've seen so far, but again, what it is is you have to go through the good and the bad with Caleb Williams. I'm excited because it feels like that not just Caleb Williams. I can't say this anymore. It's not just about Caleb. It's just about the whole operation. I'm excited about Captain. That's a different feeling than I've had in quite some time with this bear's team. You could be excited for Caleb Williams because of some of the throws that he's made in the preseason, but you should also be excited about the weapons that he has that Caleb Williams can be able to connect to DJ Moore and Roma Dunes and Keenan Allen and that tight ends, Cole Camette and Gerald Everett and at the offensive line has held up as well as they can for Caleb so far. It's early. So I think from that standpoint, what's been supplied for him and what's on this roster gets me excited because it's not like he's starting from scratch. Completely agree. We haven't seen a roster like this hoodie for a young quarterback never in Chicago that I can remember because when Rex got here, Rex was just an okay football player. He never became much more than that and they had started to build the earlacker, crutes, peanut, Briggs, like these really, really good players. But when we went and got cutler, they never had stability like this whether it was the OC, the quarterback coach, the receivers, the offensive line. Again, I've said this before, not a fan of Jay, but Jay also was done no favors by our upper management, cost Angelo his job. Emery was incompetent. Pace did not do a good enough job and he works for Atlanta now. And then when Justin got here, whether it was the first game against Cleveland, where he got sacked a billion times, they had a horrible game plan or the first year under eberflus and polls when we were basically tanking and we got three wins and he really didn't have a chance. And then proved he probably wasn't the guy a year ago. It's just all different. We've got the base as you have put it. And then we have the kid. Now we got to execute. Tyree kills tweet of the weekend went viral when he said, can't Williams is nice. He reminds me of blank. Well, Hollywood Square is there. I wonder what I wonder what the blank is, Cap. Kevin Williams is so nice. He reminds me of blank. We think that would be Patty Mahomes. Oh, Marcus and Minneapolis is with us here listening on the SP in Chicago app. Marcus, good morning. What's up guys? I got two kids. So I don't know why we do this is bear stands. I'll say Caleb does look nice with some highlights. And you do see a difference. Even though I think he has some highlights of what Justin Fields has had in Chicago, what you do see a difference. But one, one, why do we keep making the same mistake and taking that early victory lap? He hasn't literally hasn't done anything. He hasn't even played a real game. So we're saying we have a quarterback. He's the one. We don't really know that. People are saying, oh, he's he's better than Caleb West. He kill a fan's taking the picture. I was in the middle when the whole Caleb Field, Justin Fields, Caleb and Justin Fields thing, but we have Caleb fans taking victory laps when he hasn't proven anything. We don't know if he's even better than going to be better than Justin. And then my second point is I hate to argue in the first place. I should be the most excited I've been as a bear stand my whole life and I'm 37 years old. I literally, I'm not even into season yet into hard not to anything because I still have the after effects of the quote unquote civil war. People are still arguing. It just drained me. And I just haven't been able to get back into a chat. It just sucks as a bear's fan that I can't enjoy Caleb Woods. But I don't know. Maybe it'll change when the season comes. Thanks. Yeah, I just don't understand that. I don't understand why you can't enjoy it. Because some people cap, as I say from time to time of the show, take heed into what other people think. We just talked earlier about the hype. People said, that's just too much hype for me. Why is it too much hype for you? You can ignore the hype and just feel how you want to feel. No one's telling you how to feel. No one's telling you how to fan. It's your individual feeling. So, but from Marcus's standpoint, I guess he was right in the belly of the beast of the Caleb versus Justin Fields shrapnel and it wore him out to the point where he's not even happy about what we've seen with Caleb Williams and the bear so far. But no one told you to set an anchor down and to be able to be part of that fight. It's just the point is, as I was that we're fans and we're excited about something new. And when Cap and I tell you, not by hyperbole, not just because of a fandom, by fact, that we've never seen an offense as far as how it's stacked up on a depth chart. What's stacked up for this rookie like, like we've never seen this for Jay, haven't seen this for Rex hadn't seen this for Jim McMahon. That's what we're excited about is what could be with this bears team. That's all. That's it. Let's let's just let this all play out. But it feels like, correct me if I'm wrong, it feels like there are people out there who claim to be bears fans and are privately going, I hope he fails because I was a Justin guy. Do you know what I mean? Sure. That they because immediately when he struggled the first three series, here we go. See told you he's not that good. Like relax, man. Let's let this all play out. Peyton Manning, as Coach Saban said on the first episode of Heart Knocks, 28 interceptions as a rookie and with two and 14. If that happened here, people would lose their minds. Coming up, we talk baseball with Jesse Rogers, Cubs Sox and everything else MLB on cap and jhood. Truth of the matter is, you're listening to cap and jhood on ESPN 1000 weekdays, seven to 10 a.m. But it'll last a lifetime. It may only be three hours a day, but it'll last you a lifetime. Cap and jhood on the ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. Now cap is time to go to the hotline. That would be the car X tire at auto hub. Jesse Rogers is brought to you by West Coast Men's Health, helping men with ED. And chronic pain for over five years. Go to west coast men's health.com. Good morning, Jesse. How are you? I am good. Good morning from Bristol. I am headed back today for the big hobby by his return tomorrow, but I was here for the last 24 hours over at Wrigley before that. Where do you want to start guys? Jesse, the blue jays are really good. I'm sure that it hurts and told you that in Bristol, Connecticut. The exact the exact opposite actually. Blue case. Listen to this. I know you're kidding wrong. The blue jays have six shutouts on the season. Yesterday was their sixth. What a missed opportunity for the Cubs to sweep the blue jays. Three one run games. They skate with two wins, but yesterday was a big one. The Mets lost to the Marlins. You know, the Braves are kind of a little bit on life support. Chance to make some hay with this schedule. And yesterday was a killer. Just the idea that blue jays just can't pitch and the Cubs were shut out at home. Jesse watching this team, how many games does Hector nearest have to finish to kick in his investing option of nine million dollars because this dude cannot get the job done. I don't care if you've got to come up with a hang nail or you got to tackle him when he falls down the stairs. He can't get that money. Yeah, I was really surprised. Kathy pitched yesterday in a trailing situation. I think I said to you as recently as Friday that I didn't think we would see him other than save situations because then, you know, you can't be accused of messing around. He's our closer. We'll pitch him and save situations. But he pitched in a deficit. They were down one nothing and he and he pitched. So he appeared in 46 games. Okay. He's finished 33 of them. So there's two ways his option best. If he appears in 60 games anytime in the game, he gets nine million next year. He's at 46 or if he finishes 45 games. So if he's in the game as the last pitcher finishes 45 games. So he's at 46 out of 60, 33 out of 45. So yeah, there's a chance he's going to hit the nine million mark. I mean, his numbers are interesting because his ERA is in the threes, you know, his whip is okay, not great, whatever. But if you just dig a little deeper, it's terrible. The high leverage stuff. The timing of the home runs he's given up. He's only given up four home runs, but the timing of them, you know, the high leverage moments in the ninth inning have been awful for him. And yeah, he has a chance to make nine million next year from the Cubs. Cubs are five and a half games down the wild card. So cap, are they done now? The Cubs? No, and I took a shot at you and Shane, one of my recaps over the weekend. Okay, 37 to go. They took two of three. Now they got to be the lousy Detroit club. You know, I do it. I just told you, going into the Toronto series, just because the other teams are under 500, don't forget the Cubs are two. And so that what makes you think they can steamroll through the the Tiger and they couldn't do it against the blue Jay. We steamrolled through the blue Jay for two days and then you can't get shut out yesterday by Bowden Francis or whatever his name is. Yeah, and they're one of the worst bullpen in the league. Look, I'm a schedule guy. And yeah, I grew to you, honey. You can't just put W's down against the Tigers or even the Marlins after that because that series is on the road. But look, I even asked Friday counsel this. Normally, you're a one day at a time guy, but everybody baseball is. But in this moment, where you are in the standings and 18 in a row against sub 500, can you look at a bigger picture? We need to go 12 and six or better. And he basically said, yes, yes, we can do that. And so the next two weeks are the critical weeks cap. I mean, they really are the Tigers. Then it's a tough road trip just because it's nine in a row, but it is just the Marlins, the Pirates, the Nationals, all beatable teams. But the point is this, if you're going to pass San Francisco and St. Louis fine, you're going to have to do that. But the Mets and Braves have the toughest two weeks ahead of them. They really do. The Mets have had a brutal month schedule-wise and it continues the final two weeks. Same with the Braves. This is your chance. You've got to get within a game or so. This is your last chance. These two weeks somehow press the right button, correct counsel, that dugout and get your team to go on a little bit of a run. I know it's easier said than done. But this is it. Look at the Mets and Braves schedule. It's tough. By September 1st, the Cubs haven't closed the gap. It's over. By the way, if you don't have the schedule or the stains in front of you, the lousy Detroit Tigers team that caps talking about has the same record as the Cubs at 61-64. Thank you very much. And that's bad because I will tell you, I talked to Scott Harris in spring training. And the Tigers have a four-year plan and they're like in year one and a half or something. The Cubs were trying to win. These two teams should not have the same record. That is a failure on the Cubs part. And the Tigers are actually overachieving with that record. Yeah, I'm not happy with hoodie right now. Will I? I'm just giving the facts. Let's roll with the facts. He's right. He's right. Lousy Tiger Club. Take that. 61-64 ball ball club. Again, it's the office meme. They're the same picture. Yeah, he just want to admit it, Jesse. That's the problem. He just won't admit it. That'll be all for the Cubs. Jesse, I wait all winter for baseball. Love football. I'm excited for Caleb and all it. I'll watch it all. Black Hawks, bull. I'll watch it all. All right. But Jesse, I keep hearing they're in the luxury tax. That would literally be like forgetting to fix the foundation, but going, hey, we got a great 85 inch TV in here. What? How are you in the luxury tax? And then I'm being told, looks like they're going to be in the luxury tax next year. And not making like a one Soto upgrade. How can this be? Yeah, it's a lesson in what we've talked about. A bunch of 780 OPS guys getting paid 18 to 20 million. That's not how it works. You got to pay someone or two or three big big big money guys. And then you fill around them. That's the answer. It's not a bunch of decent players that when you change, you need superstars and they cost you money. And then you fill in around them. It's a bunch of 780 to 800 OPS guys. And it's got you nowhere. That's the lesson here. The lesson is go get Blad Guerrero at 950 OPS. Find a bright star for find your economy. Find a judge. Find a Bobby Whit. Do I have to give? Oh, say Ramirez. Do I have to keep going through the names that the Cubs don't have? Because that's the problem here. You're not going to win with 800 OPS guys. You're just not. You need someone. I'm once in a blue moon, you're going to win. But otherwise you need someone in the middle of that order or more than one. That's going to make a difference. Any sax news? Well, I argued with Peggy Kaczynski last year of all people about Luis Roberts. She thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Oh, for for three Ks, 209 average 682 OPS. I bring him up because we just saw Vlad Guerrero who's on a terrible team, but still playing baseball the right way. 935 OPS after the weekend. And what is Luis Robert doing? He's mailing it in. Mailing it in. I would be shocked if he's back on this team. I'd be shocked if he's back on this team. So I'm just looking at that. They're on the pace to lose 122 now. And it's hard to see them, you know, not breaking the record at this point. But Luis Roberts is a big problem with that offense for a team that doesn't have a lot. He needed to have one of his good seasons and he's just not. But Jesse, are you selling low on him then? I think they just got to get out from under him. I understand what you're saying, but you could sell it as look. He was on a bad team. He's one you're removed from a good season. He's an incredible talent. Look what Michael Copek is doing when he goes to the greener pastures and all that stuff. You could sell it that way that he was just stuck in a bad moment. He's still this great talent. I think you have to do it. Jesse is always. We appreciate the time. Thanks for coming on the show. All right, boys. Talk to you later in the week. All right. See you, Jess. Jesse Rogers. Car X, tired auto hotline. If you're on hold, you will be on the air 3 1 2 3 3 2 ESPN 3 3 2 3 7 7 6 our phone number. What do you think of the Bears hype train? Cap, um, sidebar may I approach? Yes brought to you by Anken Law 312 6 million for the great Howard Anken. It's not my ball. Cap, we have a loss here that happened in for someone that's been watching television for a long time. We've seen him on our TV for a long time. Phil Donahue passed away. Yeah, 88 years of age. I was always a fan of Phil Donahue and you know those days when you either had a snow day, you were homesick from school or it was a day off, you'd always put that show on Phil Donahue. That guy was a TV pioneer. So, rest in peace, Phil Donahue and our sympathies to his longtime wife, Marlow Thomas. Remember from that girl? Which girl? That was the name of the show. What do you mean? That girl? Which girl are you talking about? His first wife, Margaret Cooney? Which girl? Marlow Thomas, Danny Thomas's daughter. Oh, no, I don't know that girl. Um, but nonetheless, you know, we do know that show. But we bring it up, Cap, because he filmed that Donahue show for 10 years in Chicago. Before that, it was in Dayton, Ohio. So, the show originally aired in Dayton, Ohio. Came to Chicago, ended up in New York City in 1996. Donahue was the guy, Cap, that can listen to both sides. I know that in our world today, you're an idiot if you feel one way or the other. But Donahue was the guy that would bring liberals and conservatives together on the same platform, civil rights talk, war issues, consumer protection. It was all there. I just remember my mom watching that on a regular basis because she was a channel two watcher and Donahue was on the TV and he's talking about what's best for the school lunches, how come kids can't have better nutrition, all that stuff, moving that white hair around from side to side, running up and down the stairs with the mic, trying to get the audience to participate. I use very unique with that talk show. So, yeah, well, always remember. As I said to you, he was a pioneer, man. Yeah. So, uh, all the best to, to fill down a heel. That's a guy I will always remember. 312-332-ESPN, 332-3776, our phone number. Shane Norlin, could you chime in? We were talking about this before the show regarding fall weddings. Now, I was married on November 4th cap in the fall. And the reason why I chose the number fourth, you know, Michelle doesn't know this, but that usually was the time for the NBA season to start. So, I chose that date so I could always remember. So, that's why it was November 4th, but it was a fall wedding. So, Shane, you think that it's a problem? Is it problematic for some to schedule weddings on a college football Saturday? It was big on social media last week. The two most popular wedding dates this fall coincide with two of the biggest college football weekends. And so, there was debate. Is it selfish to have a fall wedding? I am someone who did have October 19th. I spent the morning in the hotel room watching the Red River shoot out. And then, I went to the ceremony. And at my reception, I was watching Michigan Penn State on my phone. And I had the understanding that if I get married in the fall on a Saturday in Michigan, people are going to be watching college football. We can't get angry at people if they're on their phones at the reception, watching games, or if they go so far as to choose not to come, because they're going to Happy Valley for the Michigan game or whatever it is. I had that understanding, but people seem to take a huge issue with it, that the fall wedding, you're a child. If you can't give up the weekend of college football, put it aside and go to the wedding. Is that true, Cap? Are you a child if you can't set it aside? Um, are you a child? No, you got to do what you want to do. I'm not, I've told you guys this a billion times. I'm not a huge wedding guy. I'm just not happy for the people getting married. Hope they have a long, prosperous, healthy, happy life together. I'm just not a huge wedding guy, nor is my wife. I've asked her, Hey, we got this invite. She's like, no shot, not going, but we'll send a nice gift. And if you want to get married in the middle of the fall, have at it. And if you come to my wedding, I got married in June and we planned our wedding around when I had to broadcast baseball. So we got married on a Sunday that I did not have to do TV or radio Cubs pre and post was actually White Sox Cubs. And my wife said, Hey, can you call Ricky apt over at apt? I said, yeah, what do we need? She said, is there a way we could rent a TV big screen and have it at the reception so everyone can watch Cubs and White Sox? Because if you remember, oh, four, the Sox were okay. They won the World Series the next year. The Cubs were coming off the whole 2003, five outs away and an 04 had Maddox and looked like, wow, this could be a great series and a great season. So we had they literally sent their crew up as a wedding gift and set a like 75 85 inch TV up at our reception. I would have no problem if I had to get married in the fall. And you and Shea had your iPhone sitting at the table with a game. Why would that bother me? And I learned something else this morning. I think hoodie and J more knew this. I did not. Shea said people are sending out invitations with rules on them. Yes. Like once a week, I see an article someplace about, uh, bridezilla sends the wedding invites out with a list of don'ts for the guests and occasionally it will include like the unplugged wedding. Don't have your phone. Don't be on your phone. You must be on the dance floor. Like all this stuff. That's ridiculous. That they're just put out rules for people attending the wedding. Look, if you get married in October on a Saturday and you want to put all these rules out, everybody's got to be on the dance floor. You got to be doing this. Best of luck to you. Have fun. I'm not going. Same here. That's what that's what I don't like. You can't wear that color. Sorry. I'm not asking to be able to wear a bright white suit. I get that. But you can't this. Don't have your phone out. Don't this. You got to be on the dance floor. Don't have that to drink because we don't want that. Like stop. Stop. Yeah. In 2000, we did not have the ability to stream, uh, games. And we didn't have that on our phones back then, Cap. I mean, it's just, I did hear rumor in the window of people going to their cars here at the end of the Northwestern Michigan game, a November 4th or 2000 shade in which Michigan lost to Northwestern 5451. That was that day. Yes. As Michigan falls to six and three that season. Wait, say that again. That was your wedding. Yeah. So I was actually at another, I was at Tom Brennan's wedding the same day. There must be the late Ron Sano, Stoney, it was in Arizona. While you're getting married, he was getting married at a golf club. We were all in the pro shop where they had like a bar there all watching the Northwestern game. Well, isn't that perfect? This is interesting. Tom Brennan, huh? Sometimes life imitates art or something. I don't know what it is. Stand by folks. Skokie and Ryan is on cap and Jhood. Hey, Ryan, good morning. Hey, guys. Hey, just wanted to reach out to you guys because I was a total groom, Zilla, and my wife was actually a bigger college football fan. She went to Florida state. And we went, we actually did October 10th, 2014 with today. So everyone could watch the football games on Saturday at the after party and a fast forward. We're actually going to Dublin for our 10 year anniversary this weekend. So we took all that into account. We had Garnet and Gold for the colors and we came out to the tomahawk chomp. It was awesome. That's great. Because for some cap, college football is a religion. Yes, yes. People take themselves far too seriously about the wedding. Have at it. Enjoy your day, but stop trying to make everybody else conform. It's stupid. The cap and Jhood cut of the day is next on Chicago's Home for Sports. Now time for the cap and Jhood cut of the day. It's brought to buy Chicago steakhouse best in town. If you're visiting us for the attention this week or if you're here looking to have a great meal with an awesome patio, there's nothing better than Chicago cut steakhouse. Yes, it's boring, but it's a sport. Oh, whatever. It's not boring. Okay, then you're boring. All right. I guess went out over the year that I am deeply ashamed of over on the mound. I made a comment earlier tonight that I guess went out over the year that I am deeply ashamed of. If I have hurt anyone out there, I can't tell you how much I say from the bottom of my heart. I'm so very, very sorry. I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith. As there's a drive in a deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run. And so that'll make it a four nothing ball game. I don't know if I'm going to be putting on this headset again. I don't know if it's going to be for the Reds. I don't know if it's going to be for my bosses at Fox. I'm going to apologize for the people who signed my paycheck for the Reds, for Fox Sports, Ohio, for the people I work with, for anybody that I've offended here tonight. I can't begin to tell you how deeply sorry I am. That is not who I am and never has been. And I'd like to thank maybe I could have some people that they could back that up. I am very, very sorry and I beg for your forgiveness. And that's all, folks. The Captain Jay Hood cut of the day. Yeah, that's four years ago, man. And I love that, dude. So he's back broadcasting again. Good for him. That was Tom Breneman. And it's all brought to you by Chicago Cut Steakhouse. David Flaman, Matt Moore's dining gem. It's on the sale north side of the Chicago River. Four years ago today, Castellanos and Breneman together. Unbelievable. And again, Tommy's a dear friend of mine. I love that, dude. So we had a poll question up. The question says, "Caps of Richard debt, quote unquote, walking his dog by sitting in a golf cart and going slow while his dog walked beside it on a leash. Does this count as walking your dog?" Dead also, a man of faith. Go ahead. Yes. Yes has 55.1% of the votes and no shot has 44.9% of the votes. You could still vote at ESPN Chicago, at ESPN 1000. We should, we should whiteboard and tell people that Tommy is back on television. We'll be on the CW network doing the ACC games, I believe, on the CW network. So he is back behind the mic where he belongs. Yes. Super good for him and a long time coming and he deserves to be back on. He has been very apologetic and worked in the community. So happy for my friend. It just four years ago today was one of the funniest play-by-play calls in the history of play-by-play. Just as what it is. It's hysterical. As there's a drive in the deep left field by Castellanos, it'll be a home run. He did his job all the way to the end. And the Castellanos bit of it just continues to happen. Yes. Yes. And that's the thing. When there is something questionable happening in the world, Castellanos always hits a home run. It always does something spectacular. You can look online and see five or six different things that Castellanos has done when someone's trying to tell the story or something's happening. But at least Tom was doing a talk show which I was watching from time to time because he had some stuff that he would say. Captain would go viral by powerful like takes. And now he's doing play-by-play again. Yep. Super good for him. Derek and Brooklyn on the ESPN Chicago. I paid Derek. Hey, good morning, fellas. Real quick. I have a little discrepancy. One of the callers that called a little while ago before Jesse came on. It was named Marcus. He said something about the best pancake and victory laps. Yes, sir. I just want to say this, man. When Tabisky and Phil's was practicing and we heard the reports of practicing, we would always hit negative things. The ball doesn't come out quick enough. All I'm saying is that it's not about the best fans taking the victory lap. It's about the best fans hearing the things about a quarterback with the football IQ that's doing what he needs to do to get better every day in practice and doing those things in games. So take that home, boy. I'm out, man. Peace and love. I'm out. Love you, Derek. Look, man, can we just understand everyone will look at the bears the way they want to look at the bears? There is no over the top. There is no under, you know, undercurrent or just like I don't think they're going to be. It's however you want to feel. We just have to see it all play out. That's all. That's it. That's all. Yeah, that's it. But by the way, from my standpoint, and no one's going to tell me how to fan it and neither you because you fan how you want to fan, but cap, what it comes down to is you're excited because it's something different. If you just lay into the morass of, well, we've seen this all before at the Bears, you know, they're not going to come true. Okay, feel that way. We're telling you just based on years and years and years of watching this team and covering this team. We haven't seen off season like this to be able to supply the Bears with talent to try to get there to the playoffs. Yes, that's all. That's it. Let's go. Let's just get it done. I'm excited. I like what I saw Saturday and I can't wait for the first game of the regular season with the Bears and the Titans. I cannot wait. Oh, we thank you for listening and calling in and being part of the program here on cap and Jay Hood. Our thanks to Shea and Jay Moore on the other side, the glass. Now tomorrow cap, we'll get a chance to talk more about the Bears. And of course, our friend Chris Canty had some strong thoughts about the Bears as far as the NFC is concerned. Well, let's get Chris Canty on with us. 930. We can bond with him. His two partners are still banned on the end of August. Chris Canty will be on tomorrow 935. Yep. Love it, love it, love it. Prepared in the house. So long, everybody. Take that from Chicago.
