(music) Today is Tuesday, August 27th, and this is Cokesbury's Daily Reading Plan. Our scripture is Zechariah 8, 6 through 8. This is what the Lord of Heaven's armies say. "All this may seem impossible to you now, a small remnant of God's people. But is it impossible for me?" says the Lord of Heaven's armies. This is what the Lord of Heaven's armies says. "You can be sure that I will rescue my people from the east and from the west. I will bring them home again to live safely in Jerusalem. They will be my people and I will be faithful and just toward them as their God." Let's apply it. God is talking to a group of people that were exiled from Israel but now have returned to Jerusalem. They are struggling to survive and they become discouraged. They can't even imagine the day that God will reign and there will be peace in their land. Their future seems impossible, but God reminds them that he is powerful and he can do anything. How can God's words to the Israelites be an encouragement to us today? - Thank you for joining us for the Daily Bible Reading Podcast.
