5 Sports Update Former Michigan football coaching analyst Connor Stallions has spoken out regarding the part he played in the 2023 sign stealing scandal and plot twist, he is not sorry. On Tuesday, Netflix released a new documentary titled "Untold Sign Stealer" in which Stallions denied the wrongdoings alleged against him and said quote, "I don't regret a thing and I would do the same thing over again." Stallions has been at the center of the NCAA investigation into an in-person scouting and sign stealing operation he has alleged to have run at the University of Michigan. He was accused of buying tickets for games of future Michigan opponents to illegally steal their signs between 2021 and 2023 when he worked as an analyst for the program. Shortly after the allegations came to light in October 2023, Stallions was suspended by the school with pay. On Tuesday, the NCAA announced Oklahoma running backs coach DeMarco Murray has been suspended one game for recruiting violations, the NCAA said Murray "impermissibly contacted" 17 prospects over a 16 month period that included 65 phone calls and 36 text messages. Murray claimed he was unaware he was committing recruiting violations because he did not realize a COVID-19 pandemic caused change to recruiting rules and expired. Fox Sports Bruce Beldman reported the violations were discovered by Oklahoma through a routine phone records review. In addition to Murray's one-game suspension, Oklahoma will be on a one-year probationary period and find $5,000. The football team has also self-imposed several recruiting penalties that have already been served. Oklahoma opens the 2024 college football season against Temple on August 30. The Los Angeles Rams have reportedly traded linebacker Ernest Jones the fourth to the Tennessee Titans. According to NFL media, the Rams will receive a 2026 fifth-round pick for Jones, but will also give the Titans a 2026 sixth-round pick. Jones, who's entering the final year of his rookie contract, reportedly received permission from Los Angeles to seek a trade in recent days. However, the 24-year-old wrote in a social media post on Sunday that he, quote, "never asked for a trade." After a solid rookie season in 2021, Jones became one of the faces of the Rams' defense over the last two seasons. He was one of their defensive captains and was highly productive, recording 114 total tackles in 2022 and 145 total tackles in 2023. He also had four-and-a-half sacks last season. I'm Joe Morgan.
