Astros dropped a 10 inning contest to the Phillies yesterday, three to two in 10 innings. However, the Astros had a pickup today. Did you happen to see who the Astros happened to add to their roster? I'm full into football right now, Greg. I have the Rangers. They're done to post that where you don't even know. No, I mean, I'm excited. You know, it was a great run last this past season. I know the Grom is pitching for our round-rock Express tonight. That's right. But we're on to, as a bellbell check, once said we're on the Cincinnati, we're on the 2025. You're on to not paying any attention to the Cowboys, right? You're on to that. Yes, Texas football and then my fantasy teams. I got you. Well, nevertheless, I will tell you, the Astros have added the just release from the Dodgers, Jason Hayward. Ooh. Yeah. That pickup. 15-year veteran. He was DFA designated for assignment last week by the Dodgers because they had a lot of guys coming off the injury list. He is, I think it was his last at batter, definitely in his last game for them. He hit a tie-breaking home run to help the Dodgers sweep the Mariners before they let him go. He was a good man in the clubhouse. All of those kinds of things as well. OK, so the Astros start play tonight in the American League West, that lead, which was five and a half is now three and a half. It's the Mariners have kind of-- After firing their manager. After firing their manager, at least for the time being, playing a little bit better now. And they also need some reinforcements in the outfield. Mauricio Dubon missed yesterday's game when he collided with the outfield wall in the win of the Orioles on Sunday. Kyle Tucker has been out since June 3 with that shin injury. They're hoping to get him back next month. Hayward turned 35 this month. He was batting 208, six homers, 28 RBIs and 63 games for the Dodgers. He's a career 257 hitter, 180 homers, 709 RBIs. He's played in 1,766 games with the Braves, the Cardinals, the Cubs, and the Dodgers got a World Series ring with the Cubs. I did that as well. And he's played in 43 postseason games as well. So Astro is trying to add something to the outfield. And that's a good addition, I think, for them. And Jason Hayward is a guy who could give them a good clubhouse presence and also an occasional good bat and can play the field as well. So they've made that addition. The Astros play late this afternoon against Philadelphia. If you're not one of those people who has-- what do they call it now-- space city home network. I think it's the name of the Astros, television, regional sports network. If you don't have that, then you can watch it on TBS tonight. So it's a Tuesday night game on TBS for Astro's Philly. So that's a good matchup for some Tuesday night baseball watching. Because we're not to Tuesday football yet. There's no match in-- No match in yet. No match in yet. Or Sunbelt. Texas State is a Tuesday game this year. And we're getting close. NFL is going to have games crack on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Sunday, on Monday. And then you mentioned college football. And there's going to be nights where there will be football on Wednesday. So there's going to be weeks where we're going to have seven full days of football. That's true. That's true. And absolutely nothing wrong with that. And your television bill will also reflect that, depending on what you have. If you want to watch every single NFL game and you live out of market from your favorite team, boy. May the Lord be with you and your telephone bill. Yeah. The cable bill. Your streaming bill. That could be a real problem. Because for you, now you were once a dedicated red zone-- or now, excuse me, Sunday, take it. I was 23 years I had it. I don't think it was. Let's see, 22, 25. I had it for 24 years. I got it in '98 and had it through 2022. Because it was too easy. I actually got a break. I got it for free. The first season for free, because DirecTV was running a deal. You signed up. I signed up. They were running a deal with their sports package, I think. And I was going to need the sports package anyway. We were moving into my house in Cedar Park, moving down from the Dallas Fort Worth area, from Irving. And we were moving into Cedar Park. And I had lived in an apartment for 10 months out at Rihanna, owned by Jerry Jones, by the way. I was down there while my late wife, at the time, Laurie and the kids were back up because the opportunity to move down here came pretty suddenly. And the two older kids were already in school. And so for the school year it started, it was September. And by the way, the first-- I've been on the long run network, obviously, since '88. And I've been in the broadcast booth since '92. But the first five seasons that I was in the booth, '92 through '96, I commuted for all the games. So '97, the opportunity to move down here and be on what was then called the AM 1300, with Bill Schonning and I hosting a talk show happened two weeks into the college football season in '97. So it was offered the job right after they won their season opening game over Rutgers, accepted the job. The first game that happened after accepted the job to move down here was the route 66 game. The 66, the three lost to UCLA. Was there any, like, uh-oh? Would I just put myself into-- Well, it's funny you mentioned that because what happened that year was long run football team at 4 and 7, fired the coach. Men's basketball went in. I believe it was 10 and 18, 11 and 18. Tom Penders resigned. Women's basketball went 12 and 16. And baseball, I think, was 26 and 36. I mean, all four major sports had losing records. And I thought, and I moved down here for this. But it was that kind of thing. Boy, did it all change, however, for the good the next year. But when we moved down, we were ready to sell the house and Irving and buy the one in Cedar Park. We did. And I had figured I was probably going to get direct PV. And then they had this big offer going on. And if you signed up for it and got the sports package, you'd get-- you would get Sunday ticket for free. And I was planning to probably get it anyway because I knew about it and knew I could watch the Rams by doing that. So I got it for free the first year. But I had it for 24 years. And then I was too much of a hassle and a problem. And I'd have to pay a lot more for the same programming I was already getting. And it's, nah, I'm not going to do it. I'll do Red Zone. I'd still have Red Zone on my package. Drives Linda crazy. She has trouble watching Red Zone because it just shoots around so much. That's what me and my dad have. And that's what we love. Yeah, I know. I like it. She tried to get a little bit used to it. But it was-- You just can't. It was difficult. The thing with the YouTube TV also is who knows what will happen with Bali Sports? We just saw Amazon pull away their $150 million offer. The Buy Bali Sports, the Diamond Sports Group. There is no Bali on YouTube. So if you want to do so, we have to pay a separate price and be able to watch the Rangers or the Mavericks or the Spurs and-- Well, don't worry about that much longer. Mavericks and Stars, both gone from Bali. Spurs will be on. Rangers will see after this year. High school football is Friday night. I'm doing love joy against Lubbock Cooper, the return of Todd Dodge to the sidelines. So I'm calling a high school football game Friday night. And I'm doing that high school scoreboard live show again. I've been doing it now 20, I forgot how many years. Anyway, it's just the season. Yeah, it started in '96 as we started so anyway. All right, coming up next, speak at high school football. We'll talk some of that with Greg Temper, managing editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine when we continue on Sports Radio AM 13 under the sun and the IR Radio AM. Hey, it is Ryan Seacrest. There's something so thrilling about playing Chumba Casino. Maybe it's the simple reminder that with a little luck, anything is possible.
