Listen back to Paul Cooney, John Hartson and Stephen McGinn as they talk all things Scottish football.

This is the Goradio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts, call 0.8, 0.8 at 17.17. 700. Let's go! Good evening, Plenty, on the goal tonight. Well, you had the news today. Steve Clark announced his squad for the games with Poland at Hamden and then the away game with Portugal. And the standout name was Ryan Gold. He's been in the world as for a long, long time. He's won hearts in a zero Welsh international legend. And Stephen McGinn, an invincible. Stephen close to the whole thing. We'll talk about the whole squad in a moment. But Ryan Gold, we haven't seen him. It's 10 years since he was first called up for Scotland. It's a surprise. Yeah, I mean international squads aren't like club sides where you have a bad season and you go and change up in a fresh and up. You don't have an unlimited pool of players to call on. He's a standout. I think Ben Dock, I think he's disappointing to not have him for the tournament to lose him to injury. So it'll be exciting to watch him, to finally see him in the Scotland jersey. But as you see, the majority of the guys that were over in Germany, and they obviously weren't you put that right, they didn't deliver quite what was expected and what can you do but go again? No linen miller last night Barry called for that, thought that linen miller who's played so many game, a fair number of games now eating on Sunday but not in the squad. I think, I mean, watch Linen miller up close, watching my billipole. I think he's a top player. A real top player, going to be a huge part of the Scotland squad for years to come. Yeah, I'd be tempted to add him. I'd have been tempted to back up with Barry. He said it's a strong part but get him in, get him into the squad because he's so good. He's too assessed at the weekend, but only on the money delivery and a real talent. That great new striker Paul McGinn, another goal for him, two goals in what? Two or three weeks, so big news for the mother will captain getting on the score sheet. John, great to have you with us. Well done at your ball the other evening. I saw Kirsten yesterday from Glasgow Children's Hospital charity. It was over 25,000 to them and also to the Beatson. Well done, John. Fantastic. Thanks Paul. Listen, everything we're in, we give away. That's what we do. We support other charities. So, yeah, it was a great turn. Jim White did a fantastic job as normally. Marcin was there as well. The boss man Martin and he made his way up. It was great because his appearance there, you know, he made a lot of people happy. He went on the stage. He's great on the money, isn't he Martin? So, yeah, it was a brilliant night Paul. And he does a great double act with you as well. He does. He talks about, you know, when you were a star striker there is hilarious. I won't spoil it for those who've not been there just yet. Listen, transfer deadline. How many days have we got now? Four days to go, 11.30 Friday night. It's some news, Stephen and John breaking that Celtic. We knew they were already in for the Augsburg midfielder, six and a half million. That's been up to nine million pounds. A bid is in. Stephen, it's on Sky there saying. I'm not surprised, no way, because they're looking for 10 to 15 million, which sounds as though around nine or 10 million. Do you expect this to happen now? Yeah, I think it will happen. I think it needs to happen. I think it needs to happen. I think it needs to be a midfielder anyway, before Matt really went. I mean, all these transfers are in the game of chess. All of a sudden, he's club side angles. Club side know that Celtic had brought in the best part of 25 to 30 million. So they're no surprise that they don't change a fee and want to squeeze Celtic a couple million more than what they originally asked for because they know that Celtic need a midfielder in. Exciting for the Celtic fans? I think we've been exciting. Couple of days following all activity at Celtic, and I'm sure the fans are desperate to get three or four bodies in. John, as we all met earlier, he's gone. What a piece of business. One and a half million to 25 or 26 million. It's a Brighton. He could play tonight. It's a cup game. But, John, what you thinking then for your old club? Do you like the sound of Anders Engels? Yes, definitely. I think they're doing business, aren't they? I think they left it late again, which is not surprising. I think Anders used to like to get his business done quite early. They've left it a little bit late in the window, but four days is still a long time in football. So I said last week, I think, sadly, need another midfield player. You're looking at a left-back, obviously, from Barcelona, of course. So I think they'll add their eyes on a few more, maybe a winger, another centre-off. I'm expecting some more business, some more players to come in. And I think they need them. I think Brendan showed on the weekend that he's almost saying we need to OK having the big funds in the bank, but also he has to put a team out there that the fans are happy with. They've also made a formal bid for the LAFC midfield that matches Bogurge, looking to replace Matt O'Reilly, Steven. This is another one that's very active in the last few hours. Yeah, I mean, big but stiff to Phil, but Celtic need to be more competitive. Champions League, it's going to get harder and harder to go into the group stages with where we're at as a country in terms of the coefficient. It's a last chance to have the national champion directly in, but it can't just be about getting in there. You want to see the Scottish teams compete at that level, and when you're losing a player of Champions League quality, Matt O'Reilly, you have to spend money to try and replace what was in terms of goals, assists, influence, massive for Celtic. John Celtic lodging a £5 million bid to take Austin Tristy to Glasgow this summer as we hear that Mikey Johnson, a story you told us is when you came in, Mikey Johnson, on his way south. Well, it looks like they've agreed a fee, chef. They've agreed a £2.5 million fee with Celtic. That could happen because, you know, one player going one way, and Austin McPhee, sorry, Austin. Trustee? Trustee. Trustee will be, you know, he'll be a little bit more money into his funds, but obviously a swap deal and a little bit more from Celtic. Celtic may well bring Trustee to Celtic, 6'3", young lad, experienced, chef, he denied it, so I think he'd be good signing. And American, so, Stephen, you like the sound of him, you've watched him? Austin Tristy. Yeah, I mean, obviously a national, a place in a national team. Yeah, I think it's an area of the park. I think Lame Scales has done terrifically well in terms of where his Celtic career was at, to where it's become on the Brendan Rogers, but they'll look very wafer thin in terms of any sort of injury to Cameron Catholic. All of a sudden that the defence becomes scales and Welsh in it, Champions League level. I don't think that's good at all. Countdowns on, the transfer window closes. 11.30 Friday. John Hartson's here, so too invincible. Stephen McGinn. O8, O8, 17, 17, 700. Some other news today, then. L.A.C. has signed Lago Bioca from Celtic on a season long loan. He completed the medical. It just didn't happen from here, John, did it? So, you'd want to wish him all the best and hopefully he can get some momentum over there. Yeah, of course. And I think he's doing the right thing. We've spoke about several players hanging around and just, you know, just happy to sit on a bench or play in the, in the reserve teams and, you know, other games that they can get outside of the first team. But Lago Bioca, obviously, wants to continue his play in and he just wants to play every week. So, I think that could be a good thing for him just to get out and play. Rangers reported to be looking for the Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel, but the word from over there is that the pyramids, his club, have rejected that first offer anyway. He's 23-year-old Stephen. So, Rangers have said, you know, they need a few players this week. We know they want money to go out the door. Alex Lowry might go to Carlisle, don't know if it'll be alone or if there's some money there. We know that Janis Hadji has said no to going back to Romania. What do you think of the pyramid rejecting this one? You know, the player? No, I don't know the player. You know, everyone. No, I don't. First, I don't know. The watch pyramids. Yeah. But, I mean, I expect I think Rangers need to, I mean, if people come on and said they'll be more in than out, we each, we have to take them each word. But I do think Rangers have to move on in this hadji. I expect that Todd Cantile, his situation can't continue. I don't think he either needs to play or needs to move. I would expect something to happen in terms of Todd Cantile leaving Rangers before Friday as well. Rangers must be desperate because it'll be one of the highest-pading. We know that the wage bill for Rangers was higher than Celtic last season. So, you feel for Philip Plimone, but imagine, John, in that he's trying to get enough funds to bring enough players to really compete with Celtic. Exactly right, on a play like Cantwell, that you probably thought when he was playing last season regular, then his fee would be at, you know, a decent amount for someone to come in for him. But now, edging towards the end of the window, they might have to rethink and think, well, look, we have to get his wages off the, we have to have to have to get his wages off the bus. And also, we might have to just accept a lower fee for him. But other clubs are looking at that situation as well, Paul. So, Rangers are in a bit of a sticky situation. They don't get rid of him, then they stick with the player. That's not in the first, even some big wages, and that'd be a nightmare for them. Liam Kelly bought during the summer. Rangers fans would hope that Jack Butler goes nowhere. But you do wonder, the Brighton International Keeper has back up. Stephen is that one that we should watch between now and Friday night. I'd be surprised if Jack Butler on the left. You know, I expect him to stay in another season. James Tavernier was a one for the best part of the summer. I thought he would definitely be on his way from Rangers. That looks like another one that's gone quiet. The problem Rangers have is, in terms of your mate, Riley's with Celtic, he's playing well and he's playing every week. So, the selling club's gone well. If we don't quite get our money, he's actually doing the business here. We don't quite need them. Rangers have got the opposite with guys at Todd Cantwell, and then this had you. They've stopped playing them, and they're now kind of trying to get them out the door. But the clubs don't know that Rangers are needing to get players out to come in. So, it's all one big chess match. And with Cantwell and had you, Rangers aren't in a driving seat. So, with that, it becomes the management of Phil Clemente in terms of not playing these guys. It shifts the power into the buying clubs. You can call us Speak Live, or you can send us a voice note. Go 8-0-8-17-17-700. The Go Radio Football Show, Paul Coney, John Hartson, and Stephen McGinn. John Marks on asking, is there any truth in the rumour that Oddson Eduard, much loved by the Celtic fans, could be on his way back from Crystal Palace? Is that a loan or whatever? We know, he's played quite a few games, but he's not starting. It's just out of the range, the money that he would be on. I think so. Although Saldic have money. They've just brought in IDA. We know my IDA can play through the middle. Kayogo, they've held on to. Although Man City is talking about, his name's been mentioned. It doesn't look as though he's going there, but what did you think of that? But Kayogo for Man City? I think it would be good signing for Man City. It would be a big, big loss for Saldic. You know, we've sent the odd goals already in just two or three seasons. The average is goals, doesn't he? He's a box player, and if you supply him with opportunities, he's going to score. It's goal-scoring records, don't tell lies. It's down there in front of your face. So I don't know about Eduard. You say something, don't come back. He was terrific for a few seasons, not so good in his last season. I think possibly he had his eyes on somewhere else. Isn't that? Yeah, he's somebody in there, and he's obviously running his contract down. Crystal Palace have started putting his name around, just linking food clubs and selling to one of those clubs, because he's an ex-player here. Saldic have to monitor everything in terms of if someone missed a comment for Kayogo on Friday. They can't afford to lose Kayogo without getting someone in. So they would only be doing their job. They have to keep in touch with what's going on, striker-wise. Odds and Eduard is outstanding for Saldic. So it'll be on a list of potentials if anyone was to come in for Kayogo. Ben Davis, as we told you last night, he's gone from Rangers down to Birmingham City. And also we see that from QPR, it looks as though Lyndon Dykes joining QPR. John, he was a good striker for Scotland, he didn't make it for the Euros. He didn't have his best season last year, but good bit of business for Birmingham who looked to be, I know it's early season, but he started really well in Division I. Yeah, they have. Lyndon Dykes, as we know, he's come up trumps for Scotland several times. And that's why I think Steve Clark has stuck with him. We saw, even in that major tournament, just gone. You know, Shanklin didn't have many opportunities. You know, it was Jay Adams and Dykes most the way through. But we know we can score goals for Lyndon Dykes. The Scotland squad out today, should we give you the three key push? You know, Zander Clark, Angus Gunn, and Robbie McCrory called up from Comarnock's of good news for him. Not so good for Liam Kelly, of course, he's on the bench at Rangers. Grant Hanley, Max Johnson, of course, is Truman Grass. Scott McKenna, now at Las Palmas in Tenerife, Ryan Portes, Anthony Ralston, Andy Robertson, the captain, John Sutter, Greg Taylor. Ryan Christie, Ben Doke is in, James Forest, Ryan Gold, Vancouver Whitecaps, Billy Gilmore, Brighton and Hov Albion. But after his game at the weekend, he might be staying there, or is he on his way to Napoli? John McGinn, wee brother, is there, of course. Kenny McLean, Scott McTomany, Manuated, will that be Napoli soon? Lewis Morgan is in again, New York Red Bulls called up late at the Euros. Shay Adams, now at Torino. Tommy Conway, the middle's brought, Lyndon Dykes, QPR. Look out for that being Birmingham. And Lauren Shanklin, of Heart of Middle Othean. Right, the manager was in front of the media today. And he was asked a few things, including, I think, early on. Did he think about going, given that, you know, at the end of the campaign, as he's staying on, this was, these were some of his answers. No, no. My contract. And obviously, I've always said, I'd love to go to a World Cup with my country. I've got a group of players that are determined to go to a World Cup with the country. And some of them will be their last chance, will certainly be my last chance. So, does your motivation there? Yeah, but how many people do you speak to? Name quite a few, how many? Many, ten. We're all pretty flat. There's lots of little things that they're going to make in a tournament. It wasn't our tournament. It didn't follow our way. And you end up with a disappointment. There's too many little things that didn't come together. There's a few questions that he was asked. Quite a few people saying, "You might move on." And he was saying, "Well, how many people to the reporter?" It's never the best look. But he kept a bit of humour in there as well, Stephen. Do you? What are you saying? We didn't expect them to go, did we? You're just saying it's a business where you're just in results. And pretty much only results. Everyone is. Everyone's aware of that. The Euros didn't go to plan. Nothing went with it. And with it comes a challenge of what's next. The World Cup is the tournament's really hard to get to. The Euros within the change of format has become easier to get to. The World Cup's really difficult. And we've got a nation's league group from success. To be fair, over the last few years, we're into the top division. But it's a really tough group. So it's not going to get easier for the manager or that's going to get to players. They're going to have to find another couple of levels to go up to get to World Cup. From the Euroshone. But they're all well aware of that. Steve Clark's well aware of that. There's been change. Obviously James Morrison's left. So he's freshened up. His coaching team looks like Alan Oven's going to be going in there. Yeah, so the game of the weekend. Yeah, he was at the game. I'm John Carver and Steve Clark. He was at the same end versus Celtic game. So within that, there's the change in trying to freshen up. They've added some players. And Ryan Gold's been long spoken about why he's not in this world. He's been given a chance in the Poland and Portugal games to just take a claim and hope you hope to get guys by the time the World Cup campaign comes around. You hope to have Aaron Hickey back to fit. Which I think is a huge loss in terms of the way you play. The one thing I'd be looking for with the absence of a guarantee only is an OPR. Me and Peter Grant, a few weeks ago, were arguing about this change. I think they have to find a way of getting more pace in the team, getting more depth in the team and getting rid of the back five. Well, this was the first time you looked back on the Euros, because afterwards that was at the camp disbanded after the Hungarian game. He was asked about the campaign this summer in Germany. Same as everyone else. Everyone's disappointed that we didn't achieve what we wanted to achieve in the tournament. I think the biggest thing is you have to learn a football to move on. It's most important. The last time we had a disappointment that would be on this level would be when we failed to get to the World Cup. We went away with reset. We came back and we managed to qualify for the Nations League A section. So we responded well. The last qualifying campaign for the Euro 24 was probably one of our best. And that's what we have to do again. It's always going to be criticism when you don't achieve your target. So if all the criticism comes to me, that's fine. I can take it. I think you have to look at the build up to the tournament wasn't smooth. We lost a lot of players injured. Even from in camp, we lost a lot of players. And I think what we've shown is that if we're missing one or two key players, then we're not as strong aside as we would be with those players in the team. We'll come back to that shortly. There's breaking news in the sun saying that there's interest from American investors into buying a chunk of rangers. Now, we've been talking about it that you would imagine. The question was asked, will there be investment, significant investment in rangers? So it's in the sun. It came online in the last half hour. It's come from CityM in London, which is a financial outlet. Saying American investors are interested in a takeover of the club. It's claimed the value rangers are 150 million. The report cites sources close to potential bidder, but there's no name of the bidder. That 25% of the shares in the club would immediately be available at the right price. It says to former Chairman Dave King and Douglas Parker, currently the biggest shareholders in the club, which is absolutely true. Dave King, it says, is 14% Douglas Park, 12% in rangers. So there's no name there. But it wouldn't be a surprise, really, if new investment was coming in to rangers. On the day when we see that Southwick have made £197 million, the broader instance 2015/16, financial things join are usually above most of us. We don't know exactly, but it wouldn't be a surprise, would it? That rangers worldwide name, they clearly need investment. Of course they do that in a situation where they're selling their best players and they're just bringing in players that they believe might just replace in terms of the quality, some of the players that they've sold. That's a gamble, and they seem to be gambling a lot. But everybody, I think, is clear that everybody knows that financially, selling it in a great place. But I believe it when I see it, Paul, there's so much said about takeovers and this amount of money and it's worth that, and it's worth that. I only believe that when it comes out, you know, a more so when it's concrete, you know? Stephen, you can't have both clubs winning in this city, but there's a disparity just now. Yeah, not only that, the majority of the fans, ones I speak to and they're dismayed with what's going on at the club, even playing it hand in. They feel like every time they get close enough to sell, taking terms of it looks like it's going to be competitive, it feels like they take a couple of steps back. So they aren't happy with the running of the club. And if I was a Rangers fan, I would see that as a big positive, the prospect of someone coming in that could potentially bridge the financial gap they have from now to now, because at the minute, in the immediate future, you don't know how that's possible without investment. The Daily Record Online reporting it as well, and they're saying that Dave King is among those said to be willing to consider an offer for his shares. Remember, there was the Fox interest group last year, but there was no agreement on it. But so it's on all the reputable sites at the moment that there's an interest in Rangers, which wouldn't really be a surprise. Maybe we'll talk about that more in the show. We're going to hear from Philippe Klamal about what might happen this week. I mean, also, we're 24 minutes into the show. We haven't even mentioned it's Old Firm Week or Glasgow Derby Week. Can you believe it? Five sleeps to go. Oh, eight, oh, eight, seventeen, seventeen, seven hundred. You can ask John Hartson. What's it like to score and to win on that day? What's it like when you lose? And Steven, you've been there watching it many times as well. You've been up against Celtic and Rangers in recent years. If you want to speak to Steven, he's here. You know the number. This is the Gore Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go, let's go. It's the Gore Radio Football Show. Transfer deadline four days away. Celtic again, Rangers. What five days away? Where are we? Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Sunday, Sunday, five days before the biggest derby in the world. They say, despite the fact the clubs are doing some damage to it by not having opposition fans there. But we've spoken about that so many times. Some of the headlines, Celtic putting in a reported bit of around nine million pounds for the Augsburg in the Bundesliga, midfielder Anders Engels. So that's one of the hot stories at the moment. Like a Bioca is a way, on loan. Mikey Johnson looks as though he's off for two and a half million to Sheffield United. So does that mean there is going to be a player coming in the opposite direction. Austin, trusty. Six foot three. You're going to guide John. Yes, strong, powerful Sheffield United playing in the championship USA International. And I think he'd be a really good sign in. Mikey Johnson going the other way as well. So if it happens, you know, there's a deal there. Obviously with Mikey Johnson going the other way in terms of trying to finance it, if you like. And Sheffield United, Celtic. As I said, it could very, very well happen. And I think obviously Lagerby Alka going out the door. It's another centre off that Celtic would want to purchase. Referee for the game on Sunday. John Beaton. So John is the man in charge. He is the referee. He'll be assisted by Daniel McFarlane and Jonathan Bell. They're the linesman or the assistant referees. Andrew Dallas is in charge of VAR assisted by Graham Stewart. So that's the VAR and the referee is, as we mentioned, John Beaton for the big match. Any thoughts? Yeah. We hope he's a good game. He said, yeah, I like won five games out of six last season. So he must have done a decent job. John Beaton. John Harrison there. That's true. Of course. Yeah. But he didn't do all the games. But yeah, he's the, let's hope that because there haven't been any major, you know, terrible things happening in the pitch. The two teams that really compete, don't know, they go for it these days. It's almost a non-contact sport. That's the way it should be. You know, that's the way it should be. You know, I think the games change sport. The game's gone a little bit soft. I think players now, they go over far too easily. I think you get punished for really strong challenges. And that's just the way the game has gone. It's moved on to a, as you say, more of a non-contact sport. I remember speaking to supporters and, you know, when Lenny used to play against Barry 20 years ago, you know, in the games, they went at each other all game for 90 minutes. You know, kicking lumps out of each other. That wouldn't happen today. They both be sent off. Yeah. You know, for how the challenges went so aggressive. But now, as I said, the game is, you know, it's very fast. It's, you know, it's totally different. And as I said, different to what it was 20 years ago. Stephen, you played how many years you only gave up in May. So you played for 15 years, roughly? Yeah. Yes, 17 or 6. Yeah. Did you notice a big difference in the lack of contact? Yeah. Go less and less every year. I mean, one of the big things, Jono, drawing back up at anyone that plays football, you always knew you. The first tackle was a freebie. First 10-15 minutes. Especially the big games you played then. Referees were trying to control the game, trying to knock this out cards early, so you could always get a couple of free ones in early doors. The big big message, set the tone, first tackle, first aerial challenge. But now they've introduced cameras to the games. Literally, you miss time of challenge after 30 seconds, then you're the red card to kick him out because the camera doesn't lie. It goes to the VR. So it's changing that aspect. The message in terms of setting the tone is different. It's about maybe trying to win a corner, maybe trying to get a first shot and go. As opposed to 10 years ago, it was going to leave a marker on the melody doors. Which you loved, Jono. Are you always, you know, you always fancy just sending off in that game? Yeah. You know, fancy three or four people to get booked. It always happened. You know, it always happened because the refs couldn't handle it. Really, you know, and I remember getting sent off Kenny Clark and he got rescinded. You know, he couldn't deal with the situation. It was just too much for him. You know, there was a big about six or seven guys in the sad, six yard box. And he just bought Malcolm, Red, John Hartson, Red, and it went to the FA. We both got away. We did that. We did absolutely nothing. Yes. So there was always red cards and there was always yellows. Yeah. And there's nothing really wrong. It was really, really competitive. Sometimes, yes, it spilled over a little bit, but the Panthers used to love that. Absolutely. They love it when it spills over. It's passion, you know. We all do. Everyone's so terrible, isn't it? Actually, people love it. Paul's on the line. A big range of fun. Hi, Paul. Good evening. Hi, Paul. Hi, guys. Good to hear you. That's the breaking news this evening. American investors are interested in buying a minority shareholding in Rangers. And some of the shareholders might be prepared to sell. Dave King's name has been mentioned. He's one of the, if not the biggest shareholder. Paul, what do you say? What would you say to them? I just have it in your show. They're the name you had to be looking at online as well. So I have to have pretty much no for a few months and I've been honest about a year. And good on about this. So good to hear that maybe we're going to get our investment because at the end of the day, our rifles are skipping all the money from Europe. And we're a bit behind in that. But look, Dave, King in Park. So they've been good custodians for the club. And I've taken it through real tough times. And no, the result of this. And again, he's gone on near throughout the battle years. We ought to call it that. And they cast some people like that who I don't think had that interest in the club at heart in the same thing. It was definitely what we say about that, of course. You know, we just to be careful. But yeah, not sure. Paul, but it was a really difficult time. You're right. And people were really delighted when Dave King came in and then Douglas Park and now John Bennett. But it's clearly, I mean, how do you feel when you see, listen, it could change on Sunday, but one game won't be enough. How concerned are you about Rangers just now? You hear the managers saying, we can't buy unless we sell this week. Well, I think it's just been, I've seen this show before. I think it's been poor recruitment. I think it's been too many manager. He's bringing in the wrong players. And I think the money that make up your own people have spent on players hasn't been great. And I think that that can all change your money. It's amazing how a few years ago, we were going to be pretty odd points a lot if it wasn't. Twenty-five. Yep. And then throw, you flip a stretch in an inch, push, go comes in. He builds a team and it changes. I don't know about the thought. Things have really went through a little bit like that. But, you know, hopefully investments through the right people come in. It can hopefully, no, I'm not going to say it's going to be like Man City overnight. But it's good. Look at Newcastle. They're supposed to be the richest club in the world. No, you're under financial obligations and other things. You just can't throw money. It's quite a bit un-propelling. It's got, you know, there I see it. The biggest rifles never tell us. And it's something I hope we've really put a lot past them through that. So, my gut goes, but I can't take away the business model. It's turned a script in what's getting my information out already. I like to treat it like mine for this person. And we're not doing that. It's not really an eating part of something. We did it with Calvin. We passed. We passed. That's it. And I thought we were going to start getting there. Yeah. Sure. Just scaled off. And like I said, the beef has been per recruitment and no looking at a delicacy, per play. And you're not the only club to be fair with per recruitment at times. It probably happens to every club. I mean, every club makes mistakes. But the trouble is there isn't the investment in your club. So they're valuing at around 150 million. That would be for the whole sheer capital of the club. And they're suggesting that Dave King, I don't know if we will, but they're saying that he might be open to an offer. We're done away at Douglas Park. To be fair to Douglas Park, he's kept his loans in the company. You know, he's re-put money into the company. And he's left it in there, though. He's not chairman now. But you're right, Paul. They studied the ship. They helped to save Rangers. But it's you need to kick on now because the danger for you is. Well, you know what? People know. When Cel, Celica had to tell the stock exchange two weeks ago that the results are going to be above expectation. So... You know the funny thing, Paul? Yeah. And I've talked to a lot of Celica fans about this. We've talked about it a couple of weeks ago. Celica, I've got all that money in the bank. But they'll start between a rock and a hard place. And I would say the same of Rangers for an opposition in the sense that they can't just go away and throw. I hear Celica Francine. I'll come by that, put it in my own affair in my own. But what are they realistically going to do in Europe? I know about the next step. I get that right. But you're not going to compete because of money. You're not going to compete against the, I'd say, PSG, Real Madrid, and so on and so on. And so on and so on. I remember the early 2000s when Rangers were in Champions League. Yeah. And we were more in a life of playing through them. And we were going to play in Munich. Not me personally, but Rangers. And I think it was kind of the game that Michael Moske and something. We all of a can. And we're going to be one now. We competed against them. Yeah. But... Different days financially was not hugely different. Stephen, what would you say to Paul? It's the hardest thing in football recruitment. You only have to look down the road at Chelsea. Right. It just keeps signing players. They just don't seem to be going anywhere. So it doesn't matter. And it unlimited money. Limited money. It is the hardest bit in football. And why, when you get it right, I'm supposed to go and go to absolutely spot on. He's first transfer window. It's Celtic. And it transforms Celtic. That was the difference. The two transfer windows. So it doesn't matter how much money you've got. It's the hardest thing. And if you nail it, if everyone's aligned. If the signings go along with what the manager, how he likes to play football. Then it can work. What's happened at Rangers in the last few years? And I believe the guys at top, they're all a Granger's fans. They've all tried to make decisions for the right reasons. But when you change a manager over time, different styles, different players. Tiny back every manager. They absolutely believe they're tying back the managers to the best of their ability. They try and give them what they can. They do aggressively spend what they have. But when you change a manager over time with different styles, as I said. GEO to make O'Beal feel come on. They're all different. They're all play different types of football. And when you're not building assets within it, it's really hard to keep back in it. So I think there's no smoke without fire as well. When you hear about the Jim Gillespie rumours. You hear about the new ownership. Something's moving upstairs at Rangers in terms of rumours. Adam, thanks, Stephen. Yeah. Just when you say they're about to stay all serene, feel right? And then I go to all the games and I throw. I have not seen a style of change. Yeah. I'll see you. I think it's 4-2-3-1 and it's quite a ball one. That's all I've received. Are you a professional? Yep. You're a professional. I'm looking at the threat. I'm not pointing to you. Okay, so what's your point of view? What would you say to him? So I think, I mean, I think GEO Vanna van Brancos was criticized for it at times domestically. I always thought they used to kind of switch the play. They'd pat plastic around the back. Obviously, developing styles. Michael Bielkeman tried to reintroduce Steven Gerads. Then it wasn't quite working, so he tried taking a change and it went quite direct in terms of crossing. I think Phil Coleman's a very direct manager. I don't think they waste any time in getting it forward. I think they try and hit this as every opportunity. So I think it's changed massively. I want to be honest, I know the formation's probably the same. A lot of the personnel's the same, but I think from where they were in terms of GEO Vanna van Brancos style, there was a European style. I thought they were excellent in the European run. I think it worked really well. I do agree. I can see the frustration at times on their domestic games. When they were wanting it forward and each competing against Hans Possacol Glove is a full throttle team and they're saying, "Why are we taking that extra pass?" But they were in control of games. The midfielders were getting on the ball. Phil Coleman, I think it's... Long ball sounds like negative, but there's no right and wrong way to play football. They are a very direct team and I think the styles change greatly from where my GEO was. John? Well, I think you've got a look at it. I think Rangers have been very flippant with their spending. I think when you think about it, Stephen just said there. Giovanni van Brancos won the Scottish Cup, decided to get rid of him. They replaced him with Michael Beale, who Rangers really, really fancied. They fancied him to go on. He ended up having an absolute nightmare. Rangers give him a lot of money to spend. He was in a business contract, was run down. Then they gave him a massive deal to keep him because he knew he could have left the club for nothing. And now that in the situation, Rangers, well, they have to recoup money because the previous managers have been given too much funds to go and buy players. Seema, loan deals, paying off the rages or whatever to brighten. Some of the systems have gone, barisits have gone, roofing me so many games. I'm not having to go. They've been very flippant. They've always come back to hurt them. They've got a really good manager at Philipp Klamont, who nearly won the league last season, by the way. They were going really, really well. It's absolutely dented Rangers' funds because they were hoping that they would go straight into the Champions League. That didn't happen. And now they've left themselves. I think they were dependent on that 40 million, wherever you get. Very dependent on that. And Paul said earlier on about Salty going to the Champions League, they might struggle. They have struggled for many years. But Salty would rather be in the Champions League than be out of it. And I think I believe this week they're already linked with a 9 million pound player, a midfield player. It's a 50 for 5 million pound from Sheffield United. So they might look in a better position, come a week's time going into this year's Champions League. So that's how I see it. I think Rangers have overspent. And they've been flippant with their spending. And it's come back to haunt them. Paul, can you imagine with American ownership? Look at Chelsea the way it is. I've been slightly flippant in saying this. And that, hey, things will never be the same, Paul, will they? It will be different with new ownership if it happens. Oh, definitely. I hope it'll be great if it was Ryan Reynolds tonight. We may be programming the tail. We'll put that in all that. Oh, is it Ryan Reynolds? Let's just check and see. Join on all the day. He won't leave Rex. I mean, it's such a good time. They buy multiple policies. He loves the world. He loves the world. Steven, you've got some phone book you can check and see. But, Paul, that is the big breaking news tonight for Rangers fans that there are American investors actively looking. And some of the shareholders might feel it's time now to sell. And it probably is for Rangers going forward. Join, you wanted to... Yeah, I just wanted to ask Paul. Paul, I've just said what my thoughts are there. In terms of, I'm just allowing you an opportunity to come back to what I said. In terms of my thoughts, would you agree with the fact that they've been flippant and they've overspent and now they were very reliant on their brilliant season last year. They just slipped up and they told you end and said they come on strong. But would you agree then? I'm just getting a chance to come back in terms of what I think. Yeah, no. I think it's somewhere I used to be really well joined. I think it's just been, like I said, previous managers. I think I'm personally no long-term agenda. I don't think we've been great with our youth, Paul. So I've set up for years of Rangers. Even the day they say Barry Ferguson coming through, he's just watched out it do with Alexi and Makide and Kyle and McGregor. And I keep going and going and on. You don't need that. That can be a legacy with that. But can I just say one thing about the game and some people is that all right? Hey, we're running here. Time to give us a quick one. Again, summarize it in 10 seconds if you can, Paul. What do you feel? Are we about to worry about Jevsky? I think we'll get set up and it was a bad shocking decision in Europe, but he said we've about rotting me and I'm about to wait a minute. Yeah. OK. Paul, we'll move speech later in the week. Thanks for that. We'll come back later. Good call. This is the good radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go! Go! Choose the evening. Steve McGinn, John Hartson, Paul Cooney, and lots of your calls. Coming in, 08/08/17/1700. We've got the Scotland squad today for the match with Poland. And then the match away with Portugal. I wonder if we'll be playing up against Ronaldo. 39 years old. Incredible. John, you could just say we'll still be playing. It's not much more than that. It's not much more than that. Oh, it must be. It's frightening. It's just been incredible. I'm slowing up a little bit. Yeah. We're at International Loud and we get a great euros. But, listen, who am I to even comment on Ronaldo? In his YouTube channel. Stephen, I know you're into all this, but have you got your own one? Are you launching it? No, absolutely not. How's it going? For the under-18s at St Murray, where you now are the coach. Yeah, enjoying it and joining your job. Best thing about it is I haven't missed playing. Good. I expected to have appeared, but I haven't missed it. Loving. Been back at some minute. Where'd you want to go? We're still thinking about the weekend because obviously the game's Rangers Saturday 6-0 against Ross County. Celtic 3 against St Murray on Sunday. This was Ben and Rodgers afterwards. Well, that's the mentality. That's the, because obviously I think the game, probably today from St Murray, was to, you know, restrict maybe us to some counter attacks and, or for them to have counter attacks and set pieces. We gave away very few. Set pieces where they defend. We defend it really, really well against a big team and didn't have too many counter attacks against us. So that tells you the team very much connected and concentrated and had that conviction when we pressed the game. And goals coming from, not the strikers, but from elsewhere? Yeah, I think it's how I like my teams to operate. You know, when it goes from everywhere, can't be just the strikers and wingers, so midfield players coming into the game. Kyle, another great strike. You know, he tracks the game really well. He comes through the pitch as we move. And obviously some control on players can stand still, and then when the ball gets, comes out, there may be 40 yards from goal. But he tracks the game really well, comes with it, and then when it gets to him, he has a great touch and finish, and he shows his quality. So, yeah, midfield players scoring is always important, as well as the offensive players. John, Phil match the Celtics so far, joint top of the table. They haven't considered a goal in the league. No, it's been a terrific start from them scoring lots of goals. Was it nine or ten goals or something like that? Nine. And listen, sadly, again, they just overrun St. Mira, and everybody was thinking that's going to be a good game. It's going to be tight St. Mira, and we'll really get after them, getting their faces. But that's just you, see, you can speak as much as you like in the dressing room. You know, you can build a team up. You can talk about it as much as you like. But when you're coming up against the quality of Celtic, in the Scottish premiership, unless you're a writer, unless you can, and most teams cannot match the quality that Celtic have. And that's the way it was at the weekend. You know, Stevie Robinson can say what he wants about his team, but he also praised Celtic. And he was four-nil, and it was a stroll in the park pool. And you've got to praise Celtic for playing really well, for different scorers. I like Dallas to Johnson's goal. Yeah. You know, when he got the third in there. I know he got the third in there. When he awarded four, it was finished into the roof, and that was very good. Yeah. It was the three-nil win. Paolo Bernardo, how did he do for you, Stephen? You were at the match. Yeah, it was at that. Yeah. I thought so to a very, very slack, very fast. Very reminded me of Brendan Rodgers' invincible treble team. Really, really good to watch the rare. Not from a similar point of view, but in terms of the way they always felt, it was like the next one, man. Seeing him up close and personal, I think I suppose Michael takes Celtic to no level. Yeah. I don't think the first one to say that. He speeds up Celtic's attacks. The ball goes back to him. I mean, I say this, we're no disrespect to Joe Hart. I thought it was brilliant signing for Celtic, but the Casper's Makers is almost like another midfielder. He's like a deep-blind midfielder. He plays quite high up. They knock it back to him. There's some men and guys at times, if they switch off half a second, Casper's Maker can find Cal McGregor, Rio Atati. Not even just giving it to defenders. He can split lines. I think he's, I thought Celtic were really, I mean, Casper's Miring are a good side. Yeah. A tough couple of weeks in terms of falling out of Europe. The amount of games and results have not been perfect, but I remember watching Samarin against Bran at home and I thought Bran were a really good side, and I thought, man, I'm going to be really hard to beat in Paisley this season, but Celtic started glittering as they have done so far this season to get that early goal. The one slight negative on Celtic we thought Adamida. He speaks so highly about ways of leaving a football club. Yeah. I think Matt O'Reilly is an absolute example to every professional out there in terms of right to the last minute doing things properly, still being one of Celtic's best players, and I think he's bang ready to go and play for Brighton. I think Adamida. And then it's not through probably not a lot of his fault. He maybe thought he was going and then not going and obviously mistraining and he doesn't look ready, doesn't look match for a couple of occasions. He could have been in Celtic played him through, and I thought he looked really sluggish and a bit off it. Yeah. I don't think he put a case forward for starting the game in Sunday. I think he has to be Kyogo and Adamida showing in Sunday. John, would you? I will be Kyogo. Yeah. I will be Kyogo. I don't think, I don't think that's in Brendan Rodgers's. Yeah. I'm thinking right now, you know, you'll play his best, you'll end. I think that will be, that will be, I believe, Kyogo through the middle, Mayeda, and neither James E. Forest or Coon. Who would you play? He's been starting with Forest, doesn't he? I said last week I thought the Mah Front Three for the Rangers game. If I was Brendan Rodgers we'd have been Forest, Kyogo and Dising Mayeda. Yeah. The team he picked and Sunday Kingdom suggested that. Everyone in the country knows that Dising Mayeda is going to play against James to have an year. I think James Forest is really playing well. I think he's, as I said, he's, you're thinking of throwback to what Brendan Rodgers' invincible tribal team looked like. James Forest is a big part of that, and he just plays another key role in this team. I think Stephen's right. I have to agree, I think it will be James Forest. I think then for a minute whether it be Coon or not Coon as an injury down the season started the season really well. But I think you'll go with James E in that bit of experience as well, so I agree with Stephen. Yeah. It's interesting we're here from Philip Glorn a moment or two, because ever so much this week, you don't get the Champions League draw on Thursday, and then you're probably going to Friday transfer deadline the game on Sunday and all the other games as well, but there's so much. And that's what Brendan Rodgers said in Sunday. This was, as we knew Matt O'Reilly was going, so there was what five days to go, six days at that point to the transfer window, and this is what he was saying to the media. We can't be happy just to make our monies and build our plot, because the bottom line is on the page. That's the bottom line. The supporters, they pay the money. You know, I look back to the corporate times here. I think they're something supporters were sold the steady amount, and they weren't allowed in it. They're seasoned tickets. So, you know, we have the duty to put the best team on the page, and that's what we'll do and look to do. And it's taken a bit longer than I would have liked, but like I say, if I can do it by Friday, strengthen the squad will be in a really, really good place. Team's in a good place, mentally, tactically how they're playing, really strengthen and have that depth. It's taken a lot longer than I would have liked as the football manager. That's my personal honest answer on it. But I will repeat this. If we get them in, then they're still a long season ahead. So it's important that we do get that. And I have, yeah, belief that we will do. So, and at Rangers, after their 6-0 win on Saturday, the manager was asked about what's going to happen transfer-wise in the coming six days at that point. I'm not sure about anything like I said. If somebody comes with a bit that it's big enough, then almost everybody can go. It's like that. That's the situation because you need to use that then to do other things. If you can replace them by at least the same quality, you can do other things. So, I don't know. I will see it at the end of the week. I don't expect that it will happen. I don't expect it, but I don't want to be naive also. But then we need to have another solution that's better, of course. So, the shorter you go to first of September, the less chance there is because you need to find also a good replacement. I expect a busy week, but more busy in incoming and a few outgoing, but outgoing not for players who are in the squad today. That's clear. More outgoing for players who are not in the squad. John, quite a contrast, isn't it? He said their word for word. Everybody can go. Does that mean buttland? Well, the indications that they don't want to, but nobody's saying it's not. Yeah, you're right. And that's a shift. Everyone apart from buttland. Because the start of the summer, it was everywhere. I don't think he will get sold because he's absolutely crucial to them in terms of how we come in and did very well. But that's an incredible thought, isn't it? What statement that is? Yeah. It's the reality, probably, isn't it? Yeah. But Brendan's very similar. Okay, you don't want to lose too many. Yeah. But Brendan has always said, if a bid comes in that the club think is a very good bid for a certain player, then Selig will be happy to let them go. He doesn't want to lose his best players. But again, nobody wanted Matt O'Reilly to leave, but when Brighton come in with a really juicy sort of transfer fee, he's away. You know, when it genuinely happens. You can use just finishing this hour. It's the Alex Valle, or Valle. Signed a new deal with Barcelona today, the full back. He'll be joining Celtic on loan almost certainly. That's Fabrizio Romano. And Steven in there for cover for Greg Taylor. Yes, I think, domestically, Greg Taylor has been outstanding for Celtic. And I think with the extra additional two Champions League games, I don't think they can just keep relying Greg Taylor not to be injured, not to turn out 60, 70 games a season. So I think it's a really important position for Salty to do business in, and he'll look as if they've got the man. Our two is coming up next to on Hartson. Steven again. This is the Gore Radio Football Show. Listen live, weeknights from five on goal. Let's go! Five days to go to Celtic against Rangers, and all the talk today has been about Oasis. Back on tour next summer. They're coming to Scotland, but Steven again, they're not coming to the great city of Glasgow. I'm disappointed. Unbelievable bit. I was out there last gig they had in Scotland up at Marifu, so I'm not sure the ticket price would be good, except for the reunion bit. Yeah, big fan. Yeah, love the Oasis. By a very first album I got with Oasis. What's Oasis? Yeah. Which one was your first one? What's your story, Morning Glory? Yeah. Years and years ago, so. Yeah, big fan. Glad to see them back. Yeah. Lucky they're not coming to Glasgow. Coffee and Greydo in great form this morning, so Greydo and Zoe had the news. Right at eight o'clock, John. Where's they going to break in news? It's brilliant to see it again, though, isn't it? You know, it's huge for Taylor Swift. Early in the summer, all the young ones are going along to that massive. And Oasis now coming back. Finally, Leo and Noel, they love their football, don't they? They're Man City fans. Yeah, massive Man City fans. And they've been up to see you as well when you were playing at Celtic. They've seen them there. Yeah, I believe so. Yeah, I think they attended a few of the Champions League games, I believe. But yeah, it's this great for all of Oasis fans. You know, they've been away too long. They made this comeback now, and it'll be massive. They reckon Taylor Swift was amazing in terms of the money she generated. I think they got four shows at Wembley. There's one in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Yeah. They got one in Ireland as well. Croke Park. That's right, Croke Park. Yeah. Mario Field as well, which is great. Yeah, they've been loved to have seen them in Glasgow. For all their fans, I'm delighted they're back. Yeah, I'm delighted they're back. For all their supporters. Let's hope they don't fall out between now, and then it was good here in our new city, and on breakfast, Billy Sloane, legendary music journalist, great broadcaster as well. And Stephen, there's a great line that's going out. Wally Hockey was on here a couple of years ago telling us a brilliant story about the Gallica brothers. One of them was, well, you tell the story with Bertie Old. Either on the show? Yeah. I mean, even Bertie Old told no Gallica about a Celtic game, he needs to get tied this up, and to get a role with it. Classic. He did, actually. Yeah. Great Bertie did. So you get to go and get a role with it. Go ahead. So it was a good... I remember Wally gave that story here on the show. 08/08/17/17... Have you got tickets? That's the question. Yeah, thanks again for the thank you. It's no problem. Yeah. No, I don't have any tickets whatsoever. They will sell out, but it's good to see. It's everywhere today, isn't it? Everyone's talking about it. The build up yesterday. It would have been hilarious if it was a different story this morning, but they did it 8 o'clock this morning, so next summer. They're not doing glass and bread. I don't think so. It's going to be these mature down south up here and over an island as well. Looking forward to, well, transfer deadline day on Friday before that Champions League coming up just before the news. We were hearing from both managers about what might come up. David's been on asking what's the news injury-wise for Rangers at the back, because they are short. We know Ben Davis is gone. Philip Clemon was asked about Leon Pallegan's injury at the weekend. Leon... Yeah, he fell in the wrong way or get a knock, so his neck was blocked. That's why he could not continue. So there was no concussion or anything. So I expect the medical team that they can de-block it during this week, so that it will not be a bad thing. Robyn proper. They're just hoping he's fit for the weekend, Stephen. Yeah, I think it's going to be a huge test for Robyn proper and Geoff, they're playing together. I think I expect that to be the left back and the left centre-half. Two ways of looking at it. I think if you're a glass half full range is funny, but they're not... They're two players that aren't scared from the trips to Celtic Park in the last few years, because I think psychologically Celtic have had the upper hand. Mainly in the games at Celtic Park, Rangers haven't gone there in the last few years, and being as competitive as they'd like, but also from another point of view, it is a baptism of fire for the two of them. I think Ehler Coler Paul touched on it. I think Celtic will talk about Geoff Day in terms of, I think, Dynum O'Keefe targeted him while he was a brick-in at Handen, and whether it was unfair or not, there was a couple occasions before, I thought he was going in for things on a brick-in. So in a battle in the game of that magnitude, you have to look at all the small details, and I think it's an area of the part that Celtic will target. And John, for Hefty, what comes ahead? Only one in here that knows what it's like going into the all-found game, where sometimes you know, logic is right out of the window. Yeah, of course, and listen, it's these new players, especially the new signs that Rangers have brought in. They'll want to go in and prove that they're good enough to play for Rangers, and they're good enough to pray in arguably one of the biggest games of the season that they're going to face. So, you know, there's lots of questions to be answered. Are they good enough? As Clemon brought the white players in the recruitment, you know what to expect from Celtic, Paul. They'll be on the front foot. They will look to go forward every other soon. They're at home. They'll be big, big favourites, as big a favourite, I would think, as any of the games were last season. So the money is on Celtic, but listen, I've played in many of these games, and you never take anything for granted. You're going to be watching Matt O'Reilly tonight, probably, being interviewed now live on Sky. It's Brighton against Crawley tonight. Of course, it's the caribou Cup game. John's second round, so not hanging about. It looks as though he's straight, and he's certainly stripped. He looks as though he's in the squad. Yeah, that's good. I think sometimes when you go and join the new club, it's great to go straight in rather than sit in the stands and watch your new team hits play. It's almost like, you know, he's not hanging around. He can go and get in right in amongst it in his first couple of days. He arrives in Brighton. And Stephen said before the news, we haven't had your take on it yet. I mean, he's been exemplary, isn't he? If a young people come in developing this lanky kid that came up from Fulham, then MK Donce, million and a half, and the way he's been, the contribution he's made, and the way that he stayed so professional. Right, until he left just a few days ago. That's right. He's a credit himself, really, credit to Celtic. And as you say, right until the end, he just showed that he was a different level above. I know you've got Colin McGregor, who's a different type of player. But in terms of Matt O'Reilly, his guile, his vision, you know, he could pick people out. The way that he manipulated the ball, he took it comfortably. He always knew when he was on the pitch. He could pick passes, he could score a goal. A wonderful, wonderful play. He liked it in a way that, you know, that Saturday got the money they got for him. They didn't stand in his way. And I think Saturday, look at it and say, well, he was brilliant for us. We wish him well now on his new journey, if you like. And it was reportedly, what was it, 12 million from Atlétical Madrid, maybe? Or maybe even was alone in January. And the Celtic fans won, you know, they might not have won the league. And then there would have been a different feeling about this young man. Yeah, but also, I mean, it was a good age. Yeah, I think over the summer, coming back to the summer, I was just watching, I know it's preseason games. You looked as if he'd gone to another level in the early games. Did you feel that? Yeah, I thought he was unplayable in most of the games this season. Maybe he's already at a high level. But he went again, I thought the first half of it. Easter already was absolutely unbelievable. He really enjoyed his football that day, a big pitch he made just of it. And the Hibs guys couldn't get near him. But for the Celtic fans, to having home in a car that just about getting over it, I thought Rio Hadate really stepped up to Mark and Sunday. I thought he was bang at it. And really tough conditions. I thought he was key. I thought he was everywhere. And he scored probably, but it's hard to go as you could possibly. So I think John will back it up to do to score that volley. The way it fell to him on his bad foot. I don't think there's a lot of players in this country be a way to execute that. So a big positive, I think, was Rio Hadate maybe stepping out from Matt Rayleigh's shoes. I know they all spoke about it. But Matt Rayleigh was the kind of go-to man. I get the goals, I get the assists. I think there's a chance now for Rio Hadate to go and say no, I can get to that level. I can go and play in English, play in my league. And it's up to him now to go and deliver that type of season. Good to get that insight, John. Yeah, well Matt, alright. I think he was one of those players. Every top team has one. When he's on the pitch, he's almost seen to his teammates. Give me the ball. I want the ball. Let me be the first player you look for. I want it. I will make things happen. With a pass, with a little flick around the corner, his touch was magnificent, his first touch. His first touch allowed him then to play those passes. And it was like, yeah, give it to me. Give it to me and I'll make some. And that is ridiculous confidence in your own ability. I mean, for that, you know, for that, I thought that's what the type of play he was. Brendan Rodgers was asked after the game. Obviously, we know he didn't play. He'd gone down to Brighton. It hadn't been announced yet at this point. But they said, what about a replacement? Who can replace Matt O'Reilly? Well, I think that will hopefully fingers crossed. Get that this week. I think we have options that hopefully will be close and get into the field. But I think as long as we can get into the club by next Friday, then I'll be really, really pleased. Groups perform well, but we want to strengthen that. We know what we want. We know we want to improve. We have to use the club. So, yeah, so hopefully we can do that. A formal bid in for the LA FC, midfield and matches, Bogus. Would he be the replacement of Volkswagen and as Engels? Augsburg, up to 9 million different kind of players? Yeah, definitely. I think Matt, really. I think what Matt really, from very LA on, it was clear he could, because he played in the low leagues in England, he could deal with the physical aspects of the game up here. I don't think that he's quite a smoother transition for these guys coming in. I think it'll take a bit more getting used to. What I do think is Paolo Bernardo just stepped into the team. Really smart. I thought he was really good in Sunday. I think he'll play it in the Rangers game in Sunday. And it's a game he's influenced. Yeah. He scored two big goals. He's a Sis for Ida, a young player again. Because, let's be honest at it. Matt, really, under and supposed to co-glue in the second season, wasn't even a guaranteed starter. He had lost his place in team for Ange. He was, when he played, he was almost a guaranteed to be off at about 60 minutes. And then all of a sudden, Bernardo just comes in. He's added goals to his game behind Bernardo's. He was worthage, but I think he's added goals. And I think he made them a £25 million player. Yeah, I think Ange, he brought in the Australian midfielder. Sorry, he's got a boy. Yeah. And I think by bringing him in. And he was very good for Saltyc Moi. So I think he allowed Moi to go and play. And Matt O'Reilly wasn't getting there. Stephen's absolutely right. But when Moi came in, let's not forget Ange, you want to, five trophies, you want to travel on a double. Yeah. So Moi was terrific for Saltyc, and obviously for that reason, that's why maybe Matt O'Reilly wasn't, you know, he didn't, he wasn't on regular starter for Saltyc under that. That's right, in that season. Yeah. And then he loved life under Brendan Rogers. At a time when things weren't going as smoothly as Brendan Rogers and the Celtic fans would have liked early last season. But remember, Matt O'Reilly came out right away saying I'm really enjoying the communication with the manager. And look, and a bill of different views on you, and it's, uh, Ange had an amazing record. But I don't think he communicated with the players in the same way that Brendan Rogers does. Would that be fair, Stephen? That's a, it's just a different style. It's just different. You don't need, I mean, if, if your club is winning, it doesn't really matter what you, what you're doing. But I do think it's important that Saltyc got, you know, Brendan Rogers just spoke openly. He's not happy with how slow the business has been. But I do think he really pushed to get Pullo Bernardo back at the club. And I do think that is important. That it's someone into that midfield. It's a, a continuation of, of last season. Maybe he was covering for Rio Atate, more so than Matt O'Reilly. But I think that midfield battle, again, and Sunday, I think if Rangers allow them three players in Saltyc half to dictate the game, then they can't come out of Saltyc part with three points. Yeah, Brendan Rogers mentioned, uh, he talked about the third goal, as to Johnson. Yeah, because everyone will tell you two now can be dangerous score line especially gets to two-one and then the other team have nothing to lose. But, uh, but now, but we could control it two now. Um, got into some really good areas in the final third and didn't just capitalize on that. But, uh, yeah, the third goal was important for us. And it was a very good goal, how we moved the ball, how we made the runs to clear the space. And then, uh, and as I said, Alex finished, which was a, was a great finish. Haven't, lifting it over the keeper. So the both of the big two finished in a high range of six on Saltyc the three at Paisley, which is tough. Uh, on Sunday in atrocious conditions. Welcome to the summer of 2024. I don't know if I can remember a wash summer. Can you draw this, uh, anyway? Yeah. A month of, uh, Sunday night in Brussels. Yeah. Yeah. There we are. Les here, Philippe Clomol. Um, it was sunny for him on Saturday evening after six again, Ross County. And look, we spoke with Barry last night and he's saying, you know, Ross County, not in a great place. But nevertheless, it's six nil. And the manager said afterwards, they're not focused, they're just on the Celtic game. Yeah. But you guys only talk about one game now. Uh, and it's, uh, a massive game. I know. And it's a crucial game. Maybe at the end of the road. But I'm looking also further ahead than that. I'm not only focused on this one game. We're going to work hard this week with everybody to be ready for that game to go hard to take the three points like we do against every opponent. I hope also to get a few signings in this week. So maybe they have one training or two trainings or no training before that game. So maybe I can even not use them in that way. Uh, and I'm focused also on the rest of the season, not only this one game who comes, but we're going to prepare us in, uh, in the ultimate best way to, to be competitive in that game and to go full for the three points. Not to play, to sit, uh, and to park the bus in front of goal and to hope that something falls out of the sky. No, we're going to, we're going to go full our chances. John's going to be with us during the game along with Craig Moore. Stephen, how do you think Rangers should approach the game? Again, Celtic who are, you know, firing in all cylinders? I don't think, um, I don't think it would be far off that approach in the Cup final. And what he's just said, they won't part the bus. So maybe he's wrong. Maybe, maybe they're going to come. Um, Sunday they're going to go to Celtic Park and, and go for it from the first whistle, but I, I can't see it. I think it'll be the tactics, uh, used in the Cup final. I think they'll try and stifle Celtic. I think they won't go trying to not let them get into a rhythm. I think they'll try and get through the periods of the game. And because, let's be honest, I thought Celtic dominated, totally dominated the first half in the Cup final. But by the second half it was, it was there for Rangers. It was there for them to win the Cup final. So, they were now approaching Philip Clemente's fifth Celtic game. I know he says he's looking beyond that. It's not about one game. It absolutely is crucial for Philip Clemente. He can't keep losing to Celtic. He has to deliver in Sunday. Tactically he has to get spot on because Celtic are, as I said earlier, that's really smooth. They're slick at the minute. Um, they're going to have to deliver with their personnel. They're going to have to deliver a real team performance at the highest level. Um, but I can't see anything other than the get-through-to-half-time tactics. That is a great point, John, isn't it? No matter how much domination you have, if you don't score, inevitably the opposition, Rangers in that case, they came back with chances in the second half. Well, yeah, it's a big talk and it's brave from Philip Clemente. It's very, very brave if you want to go to Salt Lake Park and meet them head-on. As you said, that's what he wants to do. He won't park the bus. But Paul, when them players go to Salt Lake Park and feel that atmosphere with no away fans and some of the Rangers fans, especially the way that at home on the players, when the chasing shadows with Celtic's ability to cleat the ball and dominate the position and create chance after chance, if Rangers think they can go at Celtic, Celtic are probably one of the best counter-attacking teams out there with the players that they have. Can you imagine Rangers throwing too many players into Celtic's half, Celtic breaking with a pace of Mayeda, with a guy love McGregor and Hittati and Forrest? And that would probably play into Celtic's hands, Paul. If Rangers go at them, listen, it's very brave, but I would think after half an hour or so, if Salty got a goal up and Rangers chasing shadows, Philip Clement will be saying, "Whoa, let's not make this embarrassing." You know, there's every chance of that, and I've also said there's every chance that Rangers could spring a surprise on win on Sunday. Yeah, and the old firm, that can happen to you. Absolutely. Would you make about John's assessment there? I think Rangers are the underdog, isn't there? There's no question. I think these are the big weeks where you look to your manager, your leader, to come up with a plan. And by usually, I think John will back this up early in the week by then, you know the manager's plan, how he's going to approach the game. There's times when you go, "Wow, this could work." So I'm sure they've been working on a plan and they say, "I like this." I think that's when you look to your manager. That's where they earn the big money, being the Rangers manager. He has to go out in the other... I just can't see there's any way that Rangers go out and sell it from the other. I can't see how the defenders get up to the halfway lane properly. I think it's very bold. Yeah. I'm a former manager. Let's hear a bit more, guys. This was in one Saturday speaking about the Celtic game. We were really close at Ibrox. We were really close in the Cup final. The difference in the Cup final was one action that they were efficient. Are we not? We had the same chances, we had the same position also. So, okay, I know it will be a new game for a few guys. I'm curious now how they're going to react the first time to play an old firm. But I'm also really positive about that way. If you speak about the EF days and the corner barons. Although, corner play there, but it's a different kind of game with Aberdeen. Because those are also two guys who the last couple of weeks, they had a few exams for the first time. And they take it every time really good. So, I expect them to do it there also. And the other guys will have more experience in that kind of games. David McGinn? He can't be curious about how anyone performs. He's got to absolutely trust the 11. He can't be curious about anyone. He can't take a chance but anyone get into this fixture on Sunday. As I said, he needs to have a game plan. And he needs to know when he stands in the touchline at half past 12. But all 11, he can trust him and do their job. Because it's not the game they aren't in a position as a team. I know there's a really, I think, since Saturday was a really good one for them. In terms of where they've been the last few weeks, I think they take a lot of confidence. I think Dessos, in terms of, I think he's got a bit about him. In terms of the Dino Kiev night when he's almost arguing back with the fans. And come on, I think he's got the presence to lead the line for him. Can I add against that you need to play for Rangers? So, I think he's going to know what he's going to get from guys like that. But it's the other ones you cannot go in the fixture like that. And take a chance on one position. O8, O8, 17, 17, 700. John Hartson and Steven again, plenty more coming up. And back on Scotland as well. Ryan Gold has been called up. We're going to hear from Steve Clark next. This is the good radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Let's go! Yeah, it's a sunny evening here. Great to see after a wet spell over the weekend. What's it like playing those conditions? For example, Steven, was you well used to the weekend? Does that affect the players? Positively or negatively? I don't think it's the wind. It would be the biggest factor in any game. I don't know that I was quite enjoyed playing in the rain. It's not brilliant. Especially in, you see it in the front rows. It's a man in park and Sunday. It's a bit of backing up the back. I think the supporters were getting really wet. But I always think it makes a game better. Every pitch, extra top, extra grass or grass is improved to the rain. Pitch, obviously, great start of the season. It looks good, doesn't it? I love that ground. Small ground, but it's a proper football stadium with grass. Yeah, really good. I remember walking out on it for the Valour game, the very first European game of this season and thinking, "Wow, is there one probably time this season? Can I actually have missed playing?" I'm sorry. I'm jealous of the guys that. The pitch was amazing. The weather was brilliant. Without the fans even been in there, the atmosphere was generating. Without big it'd been. How long it'd been since my man had been in Europe. Could you have seen yourself stroking the ball about there? There he is, Stephen again. When you were picking it for you, 15 hours. Yeah, I was great. Once it got to, I think, three. It looked a really enjoyable game to play on. Yeah. So, of course, we've got European football this week for Kelly. And for Hartz as well. Hartz, just that one goal in it against Pleasant. So, they've got a chance, but they're not playing well. And for Commandant, how cruel your old club? It was a disaster of an injury time for both clubs. Yeah. It was 75 minutes in the clock. You're going, "Harts, no, no. Commandant, no, no. It's going well within a couple of minutes. Commandant." You can see the very soft penalty. Even then you're seeing Copenhagen 1-0. I spoke to a couple of the guys. I think they believe that Copenhagen weren't quite at the level of maybe a Celtic. Yeah. They're a bad result of the weekend as well. Yeah. I don't think... Sorry. Copenhagen. Yeah. They're just from going to Twitter. I don't think Copenhagen fans are absolutely delighted about how it's going. I think the manager's been under a bit of pressure. Commandant beat Celtic twice. He beat Rangers once last year. They can get a go at Robby Park right on top of them. You never know. It's going to be another big night. And one of the great Scottish football results, I think, if they can overturn a two-goal lead to a club as big as Copenhagen. Are you going? Will you manage it? I'm thinking about it. Yeah. You're thinking about going them. Okay. That's the way first. I think they're going to go on Saturday. John and for Harts. They could do it. They're a goal down. But I see that Pleasant have sold their top player. Victoria Pleasant have sold Robin Harmach. £8 million they've got for it. So it's always a good sign for the Scottish team if they've sold one of the biggest assets. Can't do any harm. No, not at all. And I think it'll be a fallout at Harts. I think Naysmith needs a result. He says, "Keep Harts in Europe." I haven't had some indifferent results. They're about to fall cook in the cup. And they also lost them in their own to Motherwell. So he needs a big result. Harts fans will start asking questions sooner or later. They keep getting beat. So, you know, it's a brilliant atmosphere at Tank Castle when it's rocking there. I think the fans will be behind him. I think it's hard to get an early goal. And all of a sudden, you know, the opposition could cave in. It's the same with Kilmanic. You need that early goal. Yeah. And then the Copenhagen players might think, "Well, what we got here?" You know, that early goal. And the other side to that is it's a nightmare. If you concede because of Copenhagen score, then you're thinking, "Well, it's all over. I'm not sure if Kilmanic can get three." And it's the same for Harts. You always want to start off in Europe, second leg and get an early goal. Yeah. You said the one losing early goal. Stephen? Yeah, more confident about Harts. Obviously, you see the chance to launch England missed over in the check. But I don't think he misses that again if it falls to him in Thursday night. I think Stephen Aesmith obviously did a really good season last year. I think he's still trying to find his best 11. Yeah. And obviously, did a lot of business. And so might he's got players literally in boys back to fitness. Within trying to rotate and rest. Game people for these European games and with League Cup games. You're still trying to find his best 11. And when you're not winning games, you add in it. It's a bit of a position to be in. But I think he's got money in the bank in terms of to manage it through this difficult spell. You know what it's like now with football. The minute that someone has a bad draw and it's like he's under pressure to his act. Yeah. But I absolutely think he's got money in the bank with a Harts board. They've guaranteed European football. So why not absolutely leave everything out there Thursday night and make sure that you're on your own public. Questions coming in from different listeners to the Gradual Football Show asking you for your lineups for this weekend. So John, you'll be back here anyway. But Stephen just give us an insight in a few moments, not right away. And we know with the window, in fact, there's a specific question about that. But before it, your brother's mother will and it was great that he's captain. That was a big win for the well, wasn't it? Three won against Harts. Yeah, a huge win. You know, he's watched the mother of games this season. And when you lose them in the goals, they've lost with Theobey and Bliss battle. And it becomes a bit of a thing in terms of the chances you were creating. Even the game against Comannock. And Comannock went down to 10 men, mother will were far the better team, which was chance after chance. And it was about getting that goal. They eventually get it and Moses Obey gets it in an extra time. And I think they took a lot of confidence from that. And absolutely deserved the win. They were far better than Harts throughout the game. Really two really good goals. Paul's Dean of Donald Brawing, deliveries from Lening Miller. And yeah, I think it was a big win for Stuart Kettlewell. And the sub came on and got his goal, wasn't it? His first goal for the well. Can I shoot about killing your own team as well? And Brad Lyons, the ordering off the Lost 2-0 Aberdeen. Should it have been a red? It was a yellow and then it was changed on Var to red. I can understand the dairy mechanisms. I mean, Comannock keep putting players sent off. I know, yeah. It's an issue he could ease in senses frustration without wanting to throw his players under the boss. But yeah, absolutely can. It's a punishing schedule enough without going down to 10 men every week. I do think it's a red cut. I thought Brad Lyons was hives out of control. No real argument when I sent it back. I thought in this day and age it goes to the cameras, it goes to VR. Then you're going to be sent off. John, here's a question from Gregory for you. If Celtic sign angles via valley, trusty, bogots or any of them. Could any of the four start the Derby on Sunday? I can't see it. I think the Celtic team will pretty much be as we know it. Paul, I will give it to you when you ask me to give it to you. Of course. I don't think so. I think there's plenty of time to integrate these new players. There's a lot of games to come. Salig is still in what will be for competitions. You know, that's including off to the Champions League. I don't think there's any rush to get them in. I think they will come into the club if Salig ended up bringing them in. They get over the line and then they will have time to integrate and train with the players and have a good look at each other. It takes time, doesn't it, John? I know it depends. Well, it can do. And injuries might depend on that as well. They might put a couple of them on maybe use them as particular substitutions and things like this. But I don't think they'll start because I think Salig's team are going really well, which is one. And as Salig, I just can't see it. Why would you change a winning formula? Steve, what would you say to Gregory? Could you see any of the four or whoever comes in? No. Starting. I think it's a really tough week for the managers. I don't like the transfer windows in the season anyway. In a close two days before, I mean, Celtic Ninjas is the biggest game and it decides to title. It decides. And you're trying to prepare for the big game, as I said. It's technically, it's going to be a tactical battle. And in amongst it, you haven't had players potentially losing players, so it's not easy for the managers. And Andy's on asking a similar question for Rangers. The issue is you don't know who will be coming in. We don't know for sure, but some of them is very active. There are bids in just now. I think Rangers are more likely to add someone in the next few days who goes into the team. Yeah. I think they've got a real animal metondo. It was better in Saturday. But I think that left-wing position's absolutely up for grabs. For sure. Black burn rovers are in for him, aren't they? He's gone quiet for a couple of days and that can happen. But he did play well on Saturday. We mentioned at the top of the program about the play that the pyramids have reportedly turned down an offer from Rangers for the Egyptian winger, Ibrahim Adel. So 23-year-old. That could change, of course. Rangers need wits, John, don't they? And in the midfield, they need that creative spark that's been missing. Well, they do, and they're a couple of players down, aren't they? You know, they're a couple of players down, like Lundstrom and Jack and one or two others. Yeah, and they're a good winner at the weekend. That'll give them a bit of momentum and a bit of a feel-good factor going in against Sal Dick on Sunday. So that would have been a big win, and I think training will be a bit of a nicer place for the Rangers players to be this week. And it's a result that would have boosted their confidence, of course. But yeah, they've got a few problems, but I'm sure that's why Philip Clemente has been given this new contract. You know, he's got carte blanche to sell anybody he wants to bring in, to play whichever system he wants. And again, Rangers have put their trust in the manager, you know, for the Rangers supporters point the view that they're hoping and praying that he gets it right. That's why it's the manager, the manager being Philip Clemente. Speaking about desert, who scored again a double on Saturday. Okay, we talk with the board about if their bid comes for a player, if we can let him go or not. We can only let players go. So if for that amount you can find better or you can find two, for example, one the same position and one another position. Otherwise you work backwards, that's not the idea. Also, so clearly for him there hasn't been a bit that was enough to let him go. And he's also somebody who loves to stay. He loves to play for Rangers, he loves the shirt, and he wants to die for the shirt. That's what he's showing also. In the good moments, like today but also in the difficult moments, he was one of the guys who was fighting hard for the club and for the team. So I think he deserves a lot of praise what the sticky got in the beginning when he came here. And maybe it was in moments right that he was not good enough, and he knew that it was missing things. But what he's been doing now last couple of months, not only the last couple of weeks, also the end of last season. It's just a really good striker and a really good team player. What's important for the rest of the team. The enigma that is a serial desert, you sense the Rangers fans really like him. I know he frustrates them, John, but 22 goals last season and four already in five games this season. Well, he's bounced back, as Felipe Clement said there. He's absolutely right in his assessment of deserts. He was under a little bit of pressure, he was getting a lot of chances, he wasn't taking them. For me, Paul, this is a shown character. You've shown that he wants to keep going at Rangers. He loves the club, but the fans will love him even more if the goals he scores. As I said in the forward part, you can work hard all day. You can close down. Ultimately, as an out and out center, which he is, he plays through the middle as a number nine. You've got to come back with goals. And of course, he's doing exactly that right in a minute. He sure is. You trust him? Yeah. He spoke earlier about him saying he's curious about what performance he gets from certain people. He knows what he's getting from Dessus. Everyone knows what they're getting from Dessus. You can't have enough players that they manage your trust in your team. And I think it's probably the one player on the team. I think the manager's absolutely improved. Some news on Sky. Stephen, that wolves are very interested in the cinema in youngster Ethan Sutherland. What's the latest there in the scene in Sky? Yeah. I think he's a player that he's generated a lot of interest. He's obviously a game through a cadner, really talented kid. Went to a lower. Did extremely well. Sometimes playing left back, predominantly a left winger. Hugely talented player. He's one of those players that if you play 50 to 100 games in Scott's Premier League, probably value wouldn't change that much. These clubs have just got financial power over the clubs up here. When they come calling, it's very hard for the clubs to turn it down. It's one of those. You wish them all the best if it goes. But also if he stays, he come on as a submed. He's league debut for some months. You can see pros and cons to both sides. And the initial bid was rejected. And that's good to see, isn't it? We don't undervalue Scottish football. You never get to see the absolute ins and outs to deals. But that type of move, I mean, even wouldn't go straight into Will's first team. So the way they're structured is how much money up front. How many appearances he makes, et cetera. And I'm sure it'll be a long-term contract if he's to go. So these things take time. But as I said, it's been rumoured all summer that he might head down south. And good luck to him if he goes because he's a great kid with huge potential. Former Rangers Chairman Dave King has said in the last half-others, absolutely no truth to the rumours, the reports that he would be open to selling some, or all of you, shareholders. There's American investors circling who want to put some money into the club to get, well, some kind of stake there. But that has come out in the last few minutes. So that has changed from American investors wanting to buy the club for $150 million? That's still there. All of a sudden, yeah. That's still there. But what they're saying is Dave King's people are saying, well, it's not him. He's not looking to sell part of it. Rangers fans, what are you thinking? Well, we heard Paul there in the Rangers fan saying, yeah, it's time for more money to come in. So, but Dave King came out, he broke his silence about the chamber. The rumours saying no truth in it. He also took apparently a renewed swipe at some others saying he's backing the current supremo John Bennett. His statement says there's no truth whatsoever to the rumour that the USA billionaire, or anyone, has expressed any interest in acquiring my stake in Rangers. The club is going through a difficult phase that was largely self-inflicted. And he's having a go, actually, at the Douglas Park, Stephen Gerard's era to kick on after winning the 55 in 2021. I'm hoping that John Bennett turns things around, he's saying. I know he will do everything in his part to do so. So that's the latest there on Rangers takeover speculation coming in from America. Quick break and then we're back. This is the Gore Radio Football Show. Listen live weeknights from five on go. Let's go. Let's go. And the only way to not finish it but to take you home is the Gore Radio Football Show, Paul Cooney, Stephen McGinney, Invincible. And the one and only John Hartson tomorrow night here will be the one and only Peter Grant, alongside the one and only Barry Ferguson. So, quite a line up Stephen, isn't it this week? Yeah, nearly up to another huge fixture. Absolutely. A lot of big lanes, but the big ones in there. You're going to be at the game on Sunday as well? Yeah, I'm going to try and go. I'm trying to go at you. A lot more football now that I'm not playing. We're weekends free, so we're looking forward to it. Oh wait, oh wait, 17, 17, 700 as we look forward to the weekend. We're going to hear, John's going to be with us on Sunday, but want an insight into what you think the Celtic team will be in the Rangers team as well. Before that, just a bit, one of the headlines today is Steve Clark, announcing the Scotland squad for the games with Poland and Portugal. And of course, the talking point, the return of Ryan Gold, who's back in the squad. He's never actually played for Scotland. Here's the manager. He was in my thoughts before the tournament. He's obviously chosen a different path in his career, left Scotland as a very young man. On a roundabout, John Lee ended up in Vancouver where he's been one of the best players, one of the most valuable players. He's a creative player. He's slightly different to the type of player that we've got. It'll be nice to have a look at him up close and personal. He was asked about the retirement that we heard about what ten days ago of Callum McGregor. A little bit, a little bit, a little bit 31. He probably, I probably felt he had a few more years in him, but I'm not Callum. It was Callum's decision to make that call. And like I said before, we respect that decision. Thanks to Callum for his input over the years. Obviously, he was a key player for his disappointing to lose him, a dissapoint for us that he's retired, but I respect his decision. No one else has indicated retirement. No one else has spoken about it. It's not for me to phone them and ask them, "How are you going to retire?" That probably comes across the wrong way. They have to contact me, but nobody. Everybody's determined to go and be more successful moving forward. Any thoughts on that, Steven? Just on those comments there, but AP's tribute to Callum McGregor. No surprise when he says that 31, there's more in the tank. Yeah, I think it's a sore one in terms of you're looking to make the country better, the team better. As I said, the World Cup is a harder tournament to qualify for. And you go along to the game on Sunday with your new coaching team and after two minutes, the guy that's just retired, rifles one in the Capotum corner from 25 yards and then goes on to dictate the field football match. Yeah, sore one. It'll be very hard to replace, but they have to... It'll be when a manager's in a job for a long time. You have to change it up. That has to be a different style. And I'd look over the next couple of games that I'd like a new formation, just to see something. The addition of Ryan Goldie says he's thinking about it. Does it point towards maybe bringing in the 4-2-3-1, playing someone feeding wide players? Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing how they shape up over the next 10-10 days to two. I think he will change the formations. I think I mean, getting to your name is one of your best players, but he's injured quite a lot of the time. It's horrendous. I mean, I was absolutely gutted when I dropped down, and Germany injured again. But when you've built a team, pretty much one, having the two left backs and not having one of them for a long time, I do think you need to have a look at something different. John, I'm going to ask you about Tom Lorn's in relation to Wales in just a second or two. Let's hear this from Stevie Clark about the style of play, the football that you're talking about and looking forward. When you don't achieve what you want to achieve, you have to take that criticism, take it on the chin and move on. Very optimistic. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be optimistic. We've shown before that we can come back for a set back, and that's what we have to do again. He didn't see looking back on the summer and the Euro is not creative enough. Not creative enough. That's one thing we didn't do. We didn't create enough chances in the game. Certainly in the last game when Hungary sat in and looked to play counter attack, we probably kept too many men behind the ball, too many players in deep positions, too many passes that weren't trying to hurt the opposition. So that's something that we have to look at. We have to look at being more creative. We have to look at trying to create more chances. We also have to keep a defensive solidity because as a team we don't score a lot of goals. We understand that. What we were in the qualifying games were very clinical with the chances we got. In the tournament where we got the chances to score, we were perhaps not quite as clinical. We didn't get the shot away early enough or didn't show enough composure to make the finish and put the shots on target. We'll build up to those games in the coming weeks. John, for Wales, there's a headline today about Tom Lawrence who played really well at the weekend for Rangers. And so Craig Bellamy, of course, your teammate, manager of Wales now, he's been in touch with him in recent weeks to say, "Look, you're not going to be in this squad this time, but I'm watching things and if you can get a consistency, you could be back in." Well, that's how we all know Tom Lawrence has got ability. Whether he produces it consistently enough is another question. He seems to be in and out quite a lot, maybe injuries or team selection or whatever, but listen, that's good of Craig Bellamy to keep all his options open. Great friend of mine, I played with him with Coventry, obviously the national team for ten years. Craig, yeah. Yeah, and up there. And Salty, of course, he came. So I know him very, very well. I'm delighted he's got an opportunity with the national team. We just spent the last two years over and then, and elect with Vincent Company, and then obviously is assistant again at Burnley. So he deserves his opportunity. Robert Page now lost his job, and Craig's probably one of the ones at the FAW we're looking at. So yeah, he's left the door open. Tom Lawrence now has got to react to that and try and get in the team consistently and perform really well, and he puts the ball then back in Craig Bellamy's hands. When did you retire from Wales? I retired after 51 campus because one of the reasons I retired Paul was because a lot of senior players had gone, got his speed, got rest his soul retired, savage retired, Melville retired, Nathan Blake. And I found myself in the team, and there was a lot of youngsters around, and I just thought, do you know what? I'm going to allow the likes of Rob you and show one or two other set of falls. And John Torschik said he was disappointed when I retired. Similar to what Stevie Clark said, because he thought I had a few more reasons to go. Now do you think you went too soon? I believe so, but I think you make a decision Paul at the time. You thought about it, and then you just do it. I don't think you'll have regrets. I was always wanting to get the 50 caps in the end at 151. Brilliant. Yeah, so if I had done it once, I would have been delighted, but to have won 50 caps, I was happy with that. We came close. We lost in the playoffs in Russia to go to a major tournament. Yeah, very, very close. And now this new brand, this golden generation, if you like, never qualified for the Euros, but we won penalty kick away. And the previous three major tournaments, wheels have got to. So, it's down to Craig Bell and we now depict the boys up again. Would you go back into the international scene again as part of the setup? I'm just throwing this at you. Well, I don't know what Craig's thoughts are, because he's obviously got people that, you know, he's brought in the people that he maybe have worked with before. There might be coaches that boundly or other people he has in mind. I went in and the Chris Coleman when I was in. I know. That's what I'm saying. Go back in. You take the call. You never know. But if I say, you know, I'm doing the paper to me. Yeah. And I'm on Johnny. Of course, we're not doing that. Listen, we'll only get three minutes left. Stephen, any separate Rangers team for Sunday just now? Given that we don't know the window. Yeah. As I said, about 15, 20 minutes ago, in terms of what I think the game looked like for Rangers, I would be looking to add a winger before Friday if I was Phil Clement. And if I got the right one, if I identified one that really wanted, it would probably go straight into my team's life. I don't feel a trust, right? Rabi Mitalindote to turn up on Sunday and deliver. So I think that's an area. As I said, it's an area the part Rangers can improve on. I think it'll go with a team. If nobody was to commend, nobody was to go out. I think it'll be the same team as Saturday. I think that's what Phil Clement will do. I'd be tempted to go and stay alone on McGregor in a man-market job. When you think of the joys out you've had in that midfield battle, or Ellie's been taking out the equation, can you just go take out McGregor, just follow him everywhere and almost go out in V10? It didn't work for Cantwell, did it? No, but I think Stellum's more likely to do a job in Todd Cantwell. I don't think, yeah, Kyle McGregor ran over the top of Todd Cantwell, but I think Stellum make it a bit more difficult. As I said, I don't think it's something Phil Clement would do, but he'd be tempted to have a look at it. And proper at the back, rather than Balagan, because of the injury. Unless, I mean, he could recover. I think that a proper has been in to play. I think he'll play. John Sutter's getting a new contract. I think they'll be sent back for the weekend. Jeff Day will play the left back in James Tavernier. John, for Celtic, do you think? It's only one change. No change. That's a good thing I like about Brendan Rodgers. He likes momentum. He likes the same team, bar and injuries, or tiredness, you know, heavy legs. And for me, it'll be Casper in goal. It'll be the back four that everybody's accustomed to. Yeah. And Bernardo in the midfield. Bernardo in the midfield, alongside Hitati and Calla McGregor. Yeah. And there's only one position we're quite sure of. I think it'd be critical down the middle. Maeda, on the left, always gives, you know, Tavernier, we have a nightmare. It's a place for facing Maeda. And on the right-hand side, you've got the ever, you know, the ever sort of present, James Forest, who's been excellent, you know, from last season, the end of last season, so now, all coon. And you would go for... I would probably play Forest. The Forest. You're going to be back on Saturday. Yeah, Sunday. Sunday. With Craig Moore here. We'll be on here from 12. Looking forward to... I've heard any John. Yes. We'll be here from 12 till 3. Stephen, what's your score line for the game? We're not going to see you till afterwards, are we? Two, no. We're not going to see you till 3. And there's so many other games, but we'll build up to them as the week goes on. Stephen, thanks a million. Just a moment. Enjoy it. Hope things go well with them under 18s at St. Marin. And... Good idea, football. Listen live, weeknights from 5 on go. Let's go!
