As soon as you walk in the house, it's like-- Get away from that grill. You don't have to stop the fire. With the latest on the blazers, ducks, beavers, and the hottest topics in sports. We're going to leave a hamburger, OK? Here we go. Chatter, throw the mat. That's a fire! Danny and Dusty on the Odyssey app, and 1080. I'm not cooking them brand of Saris Burgers. The fan. [MUSIC PLAYING] Out of a three here on Danny and Dusty on a Tuesday afternoon. Yeah. He said confidently. Aw, aw. Significantly less confident than he said in English school. Man, they're going to have $2.22 beers at the Oak Tree tonight, and Ashlyn. Ooh, buddy. That's all I think about on Tuesdays. Just permanently baking. Yeah, it's been a long time since I've been down there, but it doesn't leave me. It doesn't leave me. I mean, still thinking about it. I don't think it can. It's a lot like a tapeworm. Gonna have to dig it out. Oh, man. God bless them. I feel like that's how that goes. All right, we got lots of bang through here, so I'm going to get through as many of these as quickly as possible. All right. We wrapped up our winners of the last round yesterday. Ta-da-da-da. Our 400. That music. It's getting closer. Feels so good. Getting closer. Feel it in my plums. That's the safer BMW. Woo. But our winners from the last round include the Ram Falcon Air Force Colorado State winner, the Land of Lincoln of Illinois, Northwestern. It's a bronze hat. Yeah. Paul Bunyan of Michigan, Michigan State, and the Jules Shalaly of USC Notre Dame. Now, Paul Bunyan, that one was-- that was a close battle. That was a tough one. That was a-- that was like a-- what do we call that? A two versus a two yesterday. It was tough. That we had that. The ball Bunyan was up against the bones from Memphis UAB. Jules Shalaly was up against the bell of Ohio Marshall. Halle. Land of Lincoln against the megaphone of Notre Dame, Michigan State, and the Ram Falcon against the Psyhawk of Iowa State. All right. What do we got today for the Ram of '16? So our final part should say our final-- our round of '16 includes the saddle, the milk can-- you know, I'm just going to read off all of the matchups. That way it's a game. Yeah, give me the matchups here. The Little Brown Jug takes on the platy. Michigan versus Minnesota. Remember, fielding Yoast, the coach of Michigan, he thought Minnesota was going to poison his players. So he brought his own jug of water. And that became the trophy between Michigan and Minnesota. As a Little Brown Jug, they've got the scores of each battle written on the side of it. It lives in Ann Arbor, basically. But it is a great trophy. And he leads trophy. It's a one seed. It is a one seed. And you local heathens better get this right. They are not right now. The platypus trophy, which is a great rivalry-- more competitive rivalry than Minnesota, Michigan. And a great concept and idea, a platypus, a beaver, a duck, a platypus, great trophy in theory and execution. Not-- it's about the trophy. Not as great. That's what this is. Not about the trophy. It's not the best rivalry. It's not the best rivalry. It's the best rivalry trophy. God, I did not go to English school. No, you didn't. It's OK. We know you didn't done do them booking. No. Two schools that do. USC and Notre Dame, the Jeweled Chalalee, taking on the Beehive Boot from three schools that don't. Again, Utah, Utah State, and BYU. In my opinion, if you're going trophy, Beehive Boot is better. Beehive Boot is a better trophy than the Jeweled Chalalee. I think I agree. You know? I think I agree. The Beehive Boot, it looks awesome. It's a very detailed boot. Yeah. It's a unique idea. The Jeweled Chalalee, also unique, but-- Well, there's plenty Chalalee's. And this one-- look, the USC Notre Dame one, it's very phallic. It is. It is. It is. It's got the jewels on it, too. It's a bedazzled phallic. Yeah, it is. So that is pretty umbrant. Mind the step, children. [MUSIC PLAYING] Next, on our list, the Seminole Warkanu that does not include the Seminoles, includes Florida and Miami, taking on the saddle of TCU, Texas Tech. Saddle is elite. I don't know how the Warkanu is here. It is-- you know, it just paddled along. They're rolling that boat right through this bracket right now. They're not up the creek, as it were. Texas Tech and TCU playing for a saddle. It's so fitting. It is so different. And right now, the saddle has a slight edge in the early voting. Early pollsters are in. All right, rounding out the first half of the final 16, the Paul Bunyan of Michigan, Michigan State, taking on the golden cannon of Central and Western Michigan. This one should be a route. It should go to Paul Bunyan. Ooh, I thought you'd say Canyon, Canyon, Cannon. No. No, no, no, no. This is not a full-size cannon. The Fremont Cannon is the one cannon that should advance. Oh, sure, you did. You have specified. You are not singularly cannon-minded. You are a full-size cannon. Don't many cannon-- cannon me. Give me big cannon. All right, on the back half, the Hartman Trophy of Iowa, Wisconsin taking on the milk can trophy of Boise State and Fresno State. Boy, you got a bowl and you got milk, huh? We are very bovine-oriented here in this matchup. Milk your cow for you. We don't have any cows. We got a bowl. Yeah, we got a bowl. Kingpin, great movie. This is where the milk can ends, in my opinion. I think the Hartland Trophy, it will advance. It shall advance Iowa in Wisconsin. Another big 10 matchup, the Floyd of Rosedale of Iowa, Minnesota, taking on the land of Lincoln of Illinois, North Washington. This is a tough one, but I'm going Floyd of Rosedale. I think the Floyd might win this. Again, might might win it all. The people of Minnesota, in the early 1900s, were racist towards Iowa players. So Iowa said, you know what we're going to do? We're going to go down. We're going to go to Rosedale. We're going to get a pig. And we're going to name it after the governor of Minnesota. And so that's how we got the Floyd of Rosedale trophy here. And I am going to vote for the Floyd of Rosedale trophy. I like it. I like it. Again, I think the Floyd of Rosedale might be our ultimate winner, but we'll see. The full-size Canada of the Fremont, taking on Nevada UNL, or of Nevada UNLV, taking on the other Shalalee of Notre Dame Purdue. Two Shalalees, too many. This one's got a kicker in it. It should have been bounced earlier. The jeweled Shalalee, no kicker, which makes it better than this Shalalee. This Shalalee's got a kicker next to it. It's got a Shalalee. Notre Dame, find something different than a Shalalee. They're one trick pony. Yeah, at least. Fremont, Canyon. Slap of the sign and having Shalalees. The next one is a tough one. This is a tough one. This is a final match of the round of 16. The silver spade of UTEP, New Mexico State, and the Ram Falcon of Air Force Colorado State. And you got-- the silver spade is a beautiful-- It's a very shiny, shiny trophy. It's a shovel. It's made of silver. But then you have the Ram Falcon, where it's a literal Ram and Falcon fighting each other, a mid-scene, very detailed, carved from the rock of the Rockies. I feel like that, Ram Falcon. What's the weight of the Ram Falcon trophy? Do we know that? Do we know? It feels like it should be heavy. I mean, it is just massive. It's made of rock. It does not-- No, we don't have a weight. Put that thing on a scale. I'm going to go-- Oh, boy. This is tough. This is a-- I think I'm going to go silver spade. I think I'm a silver spade guy. And I'm in the minority after my vote has been cast. I'm in the minority here. But it's a-- I have ignored my roots for far too long. I have been impartial and objective. I am going with the Ram Falcon. Yeah. Well, you've been impartial. You begged people to support the troops over the Apple Cup and Commander in Chief Trophy. Yes, because those trophies suck. Yeah. But you support the troops. I usually do support the troops. I mean, look, the silver spade is great. Yeah. It is unquestionably great. I'm supporting the miners and Aggies in this instance. I respect it. All right. Wow. Get the votes in, the round of 16, all today. All today, because tomorrow we'll have the round of eight. Our final four will be on Thursday. Final four matchups. A championship edition on Friday. Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun. Oh, wee. Let's go. So there you go. That's our group for today. You can go to @dannymarang on Twitter. Football and the NFL getting fully underway. If you've got lists that you plan this summer, it's time to get them out. And well, the athletic has followed with their NFL quarterback tiers list for 2024. And right out of the gate, they did something interesting that it's nice to see put in a little bit of a graphic. They had risers and followers from their tiers list from last year. And they did not include anybody who stayed the same rank or anybody who was new to the list. There's only people that were on the list from last year. - It should be noted that the athletics tier rankings are seven GMs, eight head coaches, 12 coordinators, 12 executives, eight assistant coaches, three people from the analytics community. It is a big list and pretty sparse. It is not just a couple of writers at the athletic. - Yeah, these are not writers of any thing. They are people that are in the NFL work in that world. And that, when I get these sorts of tiers where you have that level of anonymity and you're able to kind of speak freely and rate these guys on your own without any backlash, I think you'd get a more honest assessment of what people in the NFL believe these quarterbacks are. - I have been within earshot when the athletic has conducted these anonymous polls in locker rooms in the NBA. And the answers are very frank. So I would imagine you're getting the same thing here. The first thing that jumped out to me was not that Jordan Love jumped up 13 points from last year. That's, I think to be expected. He had the biggest jump of any quarterback last year, right? - No doubt about it. - I mean, 'cause CJ Stroud was new that that's not to be expected. The one that stood out to me is not the very top. It's the very bottom. Trevor Lawrence fell seven spots. He is the biggest follower of the group. And that is a list that includes Russell Wilson, Jalen Hurts, Kyler Murray, and Justin Fields. - But I think where you have to consider Trevor Lawrence stopping his fall is he went from ninth to 16th. And the best ability is availability. And I think that there was a level of frustration amongst Jacksonville fans, even when he was healthy at the beginning of the year that, all right, we haven't taken that step forward because he was projected to be a guy that would take a massive step forward. And the step forward was not great. They got more help around him and then he got injured. We could see the exact same thing from CJ Stroud. And I don't think it's an indictment of Trevor Lawrence as to what he can be. It's just where they feel he is now. Because if you think of Trevor Lawrence, he went from the second tier of quarterbacks in the NFL down to the third tier. And when you're injured, I can see why. And I think the guy he's right behind is Toa, who are the top two quarterbacks in the third tier in this tier tiering system. Those are two guys that you can sit there and say, if they are healthy and help move down to the third guy in that tier, Kyla Murray. - That's exactly where I was gonna go. - If you go, those three guys, if healthy, they could be that second tier of quarterbacks because the bottom of the second tier is Jordan Love and Kirk Cousins. And you could say, they could easily replace those guys in that second tier next season if they just stay healthy and they produce. But you get hurt, you don't play a lot. Den's the break, sorry, bro. - Is there anyone in tier two who you're like, huh. - Okay, well, I mean, let's give the tiers, first of all, because in the top tier is Patrick Mahomes number one, no brainer. - Yep. - Joe Barrow number two, no brainer. Josh Allen is number three. And those are the top three quarterbacks in the NFL according to the GM's head coaches, executives, analysts, and assistant coaches. The second tier, I am surprised Lamar Jackson is in the second tier and he's not in the first tier. To be quite honest, what more do we need to see from Lamar Jackson? Is it winning in the playoffs? - Yes. - Which I don't think is wholly on him though. It is a rash of injuries around his entire team, and-- - But you can argue that both for Allen and Barrow, they have. - But Josh Allen, has he really gotten over the hump there? I mean, again-- - He's gotten there? That AFC title game? - He's gotten to an AFC title game, but do you know they lost? And again, the same kind of thing. - It's a step forward. - It won Josh Allen's fault. They didn't win that game. - But it's a game further than Lamar. - Then Lamar Jackson-- - And I think that's probably much like when you're talking, when yesterday we were talking about college football coaches, tears, the cutoff being making the playoff. I think this is kind of the same thing. - They say that tier two is a quarterback that can carry his team sometimes, but not as consistently. He can handle peer passing situations and doses and/or possesses other dimensions that are special enough to elevate him above tier three. He has a hole or two in his game. And I guess the hole or two in Lamar Jackson's game is you want to see that consistency throwing the ball downfield and pushing it vertically. So I guess that would be it right there. The surprising one to me is Dak Prescott's number nine. - Too high? - Too high, yeah, too high. He is ahead of Jared Goff, Jalen Hertz, Brock Purdy, Kirk Cousins, Jordan Love. And I am not as down on Dak Prescott as a lot of people are, but I at this point would put Jared Goff in front of him. I would put Jalen Hertz in front of him. And I know he gets a lot of flack. I would put Kirk Cousins right in front of him about equal, about equal. - I had a thought that I might just swap love and Dak. - Just move Jordan Love up to nine. - Just swap 'em. - Yeah, that consistency though. Can you do it for multiple seasons? We'll see that. - It doesn't feel right to have Dak in the top 10. They'll say that. - No. - It just, no, I just, again, Dak gets trapped on because he's a cowboy and the playoff shortcomings. He's a good quarterback. - Yes. - But again, he's Kirk Cousins with better PR. - Yep, he is because his personality is not great. - No, it really isn't. And the good PR is he plays for the Cowboys. - Yes. - Jared Jones protects him at all costs. Jason Garrett and Mike McCarthy have protected him at every turn. - He never had to take responsibility for anything. - Exactly. - It's got, they've taken the shots, they put the shield up around him in the way that they didn't with Tony Romo. - That is a very good point. - You know what I mean? - Well, and Dak doesn't fire back either. Like Romo would be quick to fire back. I don't like the way that Dak deflects stuff up. - Everything. - But the way that he does it, like every quarterback, their job is to deflect everything, right? But the way he does it, he seems, he's not fiery like Romo. He's more pouty when he does it. - Yeah. - Yeah. - That sounds about right. - Yep. But no, nothing really surprises me in tier two because I think those are all guys that we could see potentially in that first tier with the exception of Matthew Stafford and Kirk Cousins again. I think even Aaron Rodgers being in there at seven. - I think Aaron Rodgers stays healthy this year and I don't know what they're saying the hole in Aaron's game is, but I think that if Aaron Rodgers stays healthy, the Jets are competitive. They get to the AFC Championship game again. He could be in that tier one. - I think he's very, San Antonio Spurs, DNP old. - He's just getting old. - Yeah. - And coming off an Achilles injury. - Yeah, I mean, I think it's kind of one and one. - The tier three I thought was the most interesting though. And that's a quarterback that is a legitimate starter but needs a heavier running game and or defensive component to win a lower volume drop back passing offense suits him best. - Which is weird 'cause Kyler Murray's throw it all over the park 40 times a game. - That would be the defensive component to win. - Yeah. - I think that would be the aura defensive component. - Or yes. - Yeah. - The same with Lawrence. Lawrence isn't a guy that you're seeing like 18 throw the ball 18 times a game. - DeShawn Watson, he forgot how to play quarterback. - DeShawn, this is the one that is confusing to me in tier three is DeShawn Watson is at 18. He is ahead of Baker Mayfield. - Which don't know. - Derek Carr in Geno Smith. - He should be behind all of them. - I think he should be behind all of them. In Geno Smith, I think is playing the quarterback position better than DeShawn Watson has the last two years. - Yeah. - He, he has. - I mean, DeShawn Watson got injured and he looked like he didn't know how to throw a ball anymore. - Yeah. - It was really weird. - We have seen him, he has dropped a lot. - I mean, when he was in Houston, he was easily a top 10 quarterback, probably a top seven quarterback in the league and moving towards the, you could see him being a top five quarterback. - The end of tier three, I don't get is Russell Wilson. - He should not be there. - He's a tier four guy at this point. - I mean, he is on par with Daniel Jones, Justin Fields. Like that's, that's a hundred percent where he is. - Yep. - And honestly, I'm surprised there's not a tier five 'cause that's honestly, if we're talking tier five, that's where I'd put Bryce Young and Daniel Jones. - It's down there. Well, that was interesting though. Daniel Jones is taught, he has not considered the worst quarterback. - He's the top of the top of tier four. - Top of tier four, he's at 23rd. They think he's a 23rd best quarterback in the NFL. Ahead of Fields, Gardner Minshew, Anthony Richardson, Will Levis, Bryce Young, Sam Darnold and Jacobi Bursett. - I think it's an adjustment or expectations adjusted ratings. It's like, the whole idea of where guys are drafted. - Yeah. - You know, where Justin Fields is, what was it, the 11th pick overall, where Daniel Jones was what pick? - Daniel Jones was fifth or sixth, something in that range. - I think when those guys, they have like the, no, they still got something. They still got like for an additional year longer than they probably should. - Yeah, sixth pick in 2019. - I think when you get those guys like Fields, it was, no, no, he'll figure it out. No, no, he'll figure it out. No, no, he'll figure it out. Just continually year after year after year. And we're in what, year seven of that was Sam Darnold? - Yeah. - Who's also in this tier? - Yeah. Yeah, good. Hey, Joel asks coming in on the YouTube stream. You put my brain in a pretzel and I did a second guess of myself. Well, wasn't the Lamar Jackson in the AFC championship game last year? 'Cause he got over the hump. - Oh, that's right. So yeah, then, yeah, again, we both agree that he should be up there. - Yeah. I mean, I don't know what else we need to see. But for whatever reason. - Did he lose his receiver going into that game too? - They lost a lot heading into that game. - I remember him, like him actually delivering in spite of circumstances. So yeah, it's, look, my biggest criticism of Lamar Jackson was always, can he be consistently accurate and pushed the ball down the field? - He could, so-- - And they lost 17 to 10? - Yeah. I mean, it wasn't a, it was ugly game. - It was ugly. - God, I thought that was the vision around for some reason. - No, but they'd be Houston and then they lost to Kansas City in the AFC title game. - Like everyone else. - Like everybody else. But in Lamar Jackson, just for whatever reason, gets zero credit whatsoever for winning MVP, taking his team to the AFC champion. Oh, I can't throw the ball deep. Well, they got him some somebody that can push a defense vertically. And guess what? He could throw the ball better down field. And then it's like, oh, well, can't win in the playoffs. Well, he spanked the Texans 34 to 10 and lost by a score to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game. Okay, if that's what-- - Man, anybody can do that. - Yeah, anybody can do that, right? It's so easy. - Simple. - Yeah. - Well, I mean, losing to the Chiefs. - Even a caveman could do it. - Even somebody who went to English school. - You know what, people in that go to English school, they couldn't do that. I don't think they could do that. Nope. - Couldn't get their name right. - They can write them words though. They can write them words. - A smith of words, perhaps. - All right, come up next, pivot back to college football and some college football predictions with a couple of upsets along the way. But first, here's the big goon with sports on our day. - You mind if I have some of your tasty beverage to wash this down? (upbeat music) - Seven that we will do later this week. Make some college football picks. - Yeah, baby, let's go. - Young sports put out their collection of picks across multiple conferences that includes the conference winners, the biggest surprise, the group of five playoff team, representative, the biggest letdown Heisman title game in an overall champion. - Ooh, ooh. - Quite a few things they've went through. First of all, I didn't recognize any of the writers outside of Ross Dalinger and Dan Wetzel. I was like, oh, they've turned over a lot of folks there. - Nick Bromberg, Caroline Fenton. - Jason Fitz, I recognize, but that's-- - Jason Fitz, yeah. Ian Kosselberry, sounds familiar. - Not ringing a bell for me. - Joey, Joey, Joey, Bubby. - But what's interesting is-- - What a great, what a fun name, Joey Bubby. Hey, Joey. Hey, Bubby. - Uh, Buzzbee. - That's a Z in there? - S. - Oh, I like Bubby better. - Hey, Bubby. - Yeah. - Bubby sounds like your aunt. - Yeah. - Or somebody who's not your aunt, but you call him-- - Joey Busby, or Jay Busby doesn't sound nearly as cool. - That sounds very country. - Yeah. - A run out of the gate. Their ACC picks were four different teams. Clemson, Miami, Florida State and North Carolina State. - I think the ACC and the Big 12 are the two most intriguing conferences in college football this year. Because one of them will be the three seed. - Which is-- - One of those two conferences will be the three seed. The other is gonna be the fourth who get, they will get first round buys for whichever team is left standing. And the ACC is because I don't think they have a dominant team, right? Will Clemson be one of those teams that at the end of the day we're sitting there and we're going, Dabo has still got it. Will Miami finally be back? Can Florida State pick themselves up off the mat after losing to Georgia Tech in Ireland? Which, by the way, has not been a good indicator for teams that we have expectations for to pick themselves up? Nebraska, Scott Frost. Off the mat to go on in wind football games. Will it be North Carolina State coming out of nowhere and really building on what they have for the last couple of seasons under Dave Doren? Because Doren is, that this guy who has zero filter, he will say whatever and do whatever it takes to win football games in his kind of an old school type guy. I don't know who the best team in the ACC is this year. It's wide open. - We're probably not gonna know until the end of the season, to be honest. Unless somebody comes out there and just throws the hammer down. - Yeah, I mean, remember Dave Doren? He was a guy where I don't know where this drop lives now, but he's the... - No, you can kiss my ass. Remember that after the game last year? - Yeah. - You can kiss my ass. - Yeah. - That one right there. - That's him, okay. - That's him. He's a wild card, but I mean, they do. There are four different teams that have been pegged to win. Clemson twice, Florida State twice, Miami twice, and then Caroline Fenton has got North Carolina State for some reason. - Going out on a limb. - She's buying in on Dave Doren. And look, I could see it happening because it's not that crazy. - The other three schools could go sideways in a hurry. - In the big 10 representatives, there's only two teams, Ohio State and Oregon, which is kind of interesting considering where this conference is and is heavy and loaded, quote unquote, as this conference is. It does seem to be just those two. I don't think there's that much of a belief necessarily in Michigan. - Michigan has three of the most... - Three of the five most talented players in college football. - They do, but they are a corner, a tight end, in offense of linemen, or defense of linemen. - And you wanna throw another one in there and running back in Donovan Edwards. - Yeah. - But you've got Will Johnson, Mason Graham, Donovan Edwards and... - No, no, no. Will Johnson, the tight end, Lovelace. - Yeah, Lovelace, but Johnson's the corner. - Yeah, yeah. Will Johnson. Will Johnson, Mason Graham, and Lovelace. I mean, those three guys are three of the five most talented players in college. - They're probably the best prospects at their positions in the draft. - You can't count them out. - No. - There's so much turnover, so many new faces, but they have the ability to be a very dangerous team. Ohio State is on paper, the most talented team. And I am not gonna undervalue Chip Kelly being an offensive coordinator to get Ryan Day out of his way a lot of times and maximize the potential of Will Howard. Will Howard is a massive question mark there. They're depth up front on the offensive line. They're one injury away from being a significant question mark. And if that injury comes before October 12th and they come to Oxford Stadium and play the organ ducks, that could be the determining factor in whether it's Ohio State or Oregon that comes out of the Big Ten and how long those injuries last because we could see October 12th repeated in the first week of December in the conference championship game too. - The Big 12, as much as we talked about it being interesting as far as them potentially being a number three seed and hosting, three teams are picked here with five of the selections going to Utah. And I think Utah's far and above better than everybody in this conference by a clear line. - Now, there is a quarterback at Kansas State. There's a reason why they said, all right, Will Howard, go ahead and anybody that is played, if there's anybody that's played NCAA 25 with Kansas State, Avery Johnson is a freak. - Electric. - Redshirt freshman, he's a guy that, his speed is off the charts, but does he have playmakers around him? Like that's the massive question around him. - And what they do is they do find a way, as a coaching staff, they are very good at exploiting things that they do have. - And Chris Klimann is a phenomenal football coach at Kansas State. - I'm surprised we didn't see Kansas. I did 13 that got to vote was Oklahoma State with Mike Gundy, which again, Ollie Gordon, probably the best running back in the country. - And we know they're gonna run him in the ground because Mike Gundy told us that's his punishment. - For getting a DUI. - For as Dewey was, we're gonna run him into the ground. - That's how he'll learn, we're not gonna suspend it. - Okay, Kansas is gonna be good with Lance Leipold and do they catch teams at the wrong time and you can't square someone up on the jaw? No Colorado in there, huh. - No, that's weird. - Interesting, that's weird. - I do think though, Utah, and it really hinges on cameraizing. If cameraizing can stay healthy, they're a different team, but they went and they got another running back to bolster their backfield, Anthony Woods, who is from the University of Idaho, transferred down to Utah. He is a thousand yard back in the big sky last year. He's a body that they feel can convert very easily to their style of play. If they can control the clock and have cameraizing, they're gonna be a okay. They are going to be a force offensively. - The SEC, everyone picked Georgia. - Georgia. - It's nothing but cowards. Not a single Texas pick. - No Texas, no Bama. - Which, Texas has been the chic, trendy pick if you're not taking Georgia. And for very obvious reasons. They've got a great quarterback in Quineurs. They have Isaiah Bond transferring from Alabama over one of the best wide receivers in the country. You've got an entire defense basically that's back from last year. There's a lot of reasons to buy into Texas. For them to not get a single vote, it definitely my eyebrow went up. - Absolutely. - Like does Georgia feel that overwhelming in that conference? - Yes, because of what they pose defensively. - Okay. - And that is it right there. Like, Sark in Texas, they're gonna score. - Yeah. - And you also have to look at, all right, how are the schedules shaping up for each of them? Because how many times have we seen Texas stub their toe in the big 12? - And it's on something stupid. - And when you have a tougher road to hoe in the SEC, right? - And the big guys on them. - Michigan, Oklahoma, Georgia, Kentucky and Texas A&M all on their schedule. That's gonna be five teams that are ranked at various points in the year. Georgia has got Clemson out of the gate, better time to play them. Bama, Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee. And Tennessee's gonna be the wild card in this because preseason ranking, they're 15th in the country. They've done an incredible job using their NIL arm to recruit and bolster their roster from the portal and from the high school ranks. Josh Hypel has done a really good job there. They've been a team in a program that has been on the rise. How good are they though? Are they ready this year to go to toe to toe with the Georgia team that has had their number over the last handful of seasons? - In this group, they had the Group of Five playoff team and I think the presumption as a Boise State is going to be that team. But there's some votes in here from Memphis. - NIL, yes. - This is not the basketball tournament, right? - Nope, nope, Memphis football's been consistently good lately though and if you look at the AAC now and how that conference shakes out, all right, is the road for Memphis easier than the road for Boise State because here's the big one with Boise State. Where do they go week two? They go to Eugene, they play in Otson Stadium. If they get mopped by Oregon, that is gonna hurt their chances. Memphis, their toughest game this season is Florida State, which we just saw Florida State. Didn't look great. What teams other than Florida State scare you on this schedule? North Alabama, Troy, Navy, Middle Tennessee State, South Florida, North Texas, Charlotte, UTSA, Rice, UAB, and Tulane, which lost their coach Willie Fritz and most of their roster to Houston. Okay, Boise State has got Oregon on their schedule, Washington State, San Diego State, UNLV, Oregon State. There are more opportunities to stub your toe if you're Boise State than there. - UTSA and if you squint, maybe North Texas are probably the ones where you're like, those games could get frisky? Frisky, not difficult, frisky. - Yeah. - You know? - Yeah, I'm with you. - But other than that, yeah, no. Boise State's definitely a more difficult row to take. - But I think that if they can hold their own against Oregon and not get the doors blown off 'em, and if they can navigate their schedule with a lost to Oregon and maybe a lost somewhere else on that roster, I think that you are gonna see Boise State be the team that's a group of five conference champion that makes their way in. - I wouldn't throw Liberty out of this conversation though, because-- - They have everyone back. - They, well, yeah, most of their guys are back and for whatever reason, nobody went with Liberty there. We saw how Liberty went against Oregon and Fiesta Bowl. - Yeah, but if they're still of group of five-- - They're a good team. - They could run the table. They could absolutely run the table-- - They just don't have the depth or the butts in the trenches. - No, but on the scale position though, what's that quarterback's name? He's a nightmare. - They don't have anybody that will terrify you on their schedule. They can play no teams from a power five, okay? - They know what they're doing. - They know exactly what they got UMass on there as an independent. - That's a sacrificial lamb. - They know exactly what they are doing. - They're being smart about it. There's a couple of things on here, the biggest surprise, biggest letdown, Heisman title game champ. The one that stood out to me at least was the biggest surprise. There's only two repeat, or one repeat of a school here, and that's, oh, I'm sorry, there's two. One for Iowa, one for Tennessee, both had two votes. Indiana, North Carolina State, Ole Miss. If you were picking on a set from that group, what team in the country in the Power Four, who would you say is going to be the most surprising, the positive team? - Indiana has the opportunity to Kurt Signetty, member that just Googled me. - Just Googled me. - I think Rutgers, I am believing what Greg Shiano is building there. - He's a good coach. Heaven forbid, if they get the talent there that they got on the basketball team, they're going to be real good real fast. - And I love that Ole Miss is on their biggest surprise. - Their preseason ranking is sixth. - I was just going to bring that up. They are higher, but I think because of the history, and they've been high before the, was it the Robert Income DJ class? When they brought in, when they texted say and end this whole thing, and then he ended up being not nearly as good as, Geneva and clowny, as everybody thought. But there was a couple other guys in that class too that all just kind of disappeared. I am going to buy Ole Miss. I think they have a legitimate chance to win the SEC, despite their very difficult schedule. - That's why I don't think they're going to be surprised to me. - It would be a surprise if they did it. The fact that we're talking about them isn't a surprise because they do make sense. But if they did do it, that to me would be like, holy crap, they did it. - They did it. - It would be kind of like Auburn making a return. They're like, oh, hello. - All right, day back. - Well, coming up, we'll put a nice little bow on today's show when you're on Danny and Dusty, Danny and the fan. - Hi, revving up the, we're going to be cramming. - The group of potential picks in college football, we were talking about the most surprising positive. Let's get out of here. What would be the most surprising let down in college football for you? - Oh, good golly Miss Molly. I think it would be Ohio State falling on their face. That would be a surprising let down if they are not. I mean, you think of the talent that Ryan Day has assembled, the guys that they got to come back for this year, the guys that they got to bolster the returners with guys like Caleb Downs, pretty impressive. If they were not to play in the national title game, that would be a let down. You were talking about expectations for Ole Miss. Like Ohio State, it is like they should win a national title this year. And if they don't, that's a let down for them. They have it. They check every single box, every single one. And that would be a colossal let down. - I think for me, it's the same conference and it's local, it's Oregon. - Yeah. - I think if Oregon finds a way to lose to Ohio State and to Michigan, the two high profile games, the rest of the schedule lines up so favorably and so well for them with the exception of a late game against Wisconsin. - Yeah, going to Wisconsin in November is-- - That's gonna be a wake up. - That's tough. That could be potentially hellaciously cold. - Well, that's one I bet. I wouldn't be surprised if that's a big nooner or two. - Big noon. - Which means early for us out here. - Or they push it to the late night game and make it even more hellacious on Oregon. - The drunk camp randal, sign that up. - At night. - Yeah. - High man. - Was that where they do house of pain too? - Yep, jump around. - That place gets nuts, but you throw in the cold and the drunken? - Yeah, basically in Pullman at that point. - I mean, Midwest Pullman. - Yeah. - But-- - Bigger. - Their schedule sets up so favorably for them that if they don't take care of those two games, even if it's insane, they could go 10 and two and it'd be a disappointment. And that would be a major letdown because if they lost both those games, they wouldn't probably be in consideration. - No, no, but I mean, those two games are gonna be really tough football games. - They're going to decide the world for them this year. - And then I also think, and I don't expect this to happen, but Alabama with Caitlin DeBore, they're still really talented. - Yeah, but if they only win like eight games or nine games and you're like, - Anything less than 10, and they're gonna turn on Caitlin DeBore. - Real quick, because they've done it before. They've done it before. So yeah, that would be an interesting one to kind of follow too with Alabama and the SEC. - They hit their highs and picks on here. Everyone picked the quarterback except for one person. One person picked Quinchon Juckens. - Yeah. - They're running back for a house date. - I wouldn't be shocked. - Look, he's a freak. The most broken character probably in NCAA football, the video game. But I'm just glad somebody picked somebody not named a quarterback. - Yeah, it's a good luck winning it though. - It's like, I know, but if they're the best team and you're like, it's not well-houred. You know, that is gonna be that-- - It would be funny if it worked against the quarterback for once. - Yeah. - Yeah, it wasn't that guy. - But also, I mean, Jeremiah Smith, the freshman receiver they have, Emeko Booka, the pride of Stilicum. They have got so much talent offensively. - Oh! - It's ridiculous. - Get weapons here. - It's ridiculous. All right, coming up next, you got four hours of power from their mouths to your ears. We got primetime with Isaac and Suq. Tomorrow, I will be down in Eugene hosting the show. - You will live on location. - Live on location from odds in stadium. Jerry Allen, the voice of the ducks, gonna sit down with us as-- - It'll be all ducks all the time. - Yeah, as Jerry's gonna sit down, have a nice chat with Jerry and talk a little Oregon football. Let's go, let's get it. Our next size is good Suq right here on the fan. - Bye! - Didn't expect to see those little fuzzy balls. - Don't suck. - You spent 'em over here. - AT&T customers, switching to T-Mobile has never been easier.
