(upbeat music) - I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief, John Bickley. It's Wednesday, August 28th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update. Former President Trump has been indicted once again on charges of conspiracy and obstruction in relation to the 2020 election. Daily Wire reporter Amanda Prestigeakomo has the latest. - The indictment pushed by special counsel, Jack Smith, streamlines the case to address a recent Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity. Trump argues that the new indictment is election interference and that the DOJ is violating its own policy against influencing elections. This comes as some states are gearing up to begin early voting. A hearing to determine the next steps is scheduled for September 5th, and both sides are expected to present their proposals. - The Harris campaign has denied that the terms of the upcoming ABC debate were actually agreed upon, as Trump says, Daily Wire's Senior Editor, Kevin Phillips, is here to break down the developments. - In a recent social media post, Donald Trump said the two campaigns had agreed to muted mics for the September debate, and that the terms would be similar to the last debate when President Biden was still the Democratic nominee. But the Harris campaign said the debates rules and terms were still being discussed with ABC, and that they were pushing to leave the mics on. So far, ABC has not commented on the ongoing negotiations. As both camps gear up for the debate, former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is now helping Trump prepare for sharing the stage with Harris. Here's what she told Fox News. - And if I can be helpful to President Trump at all, in this area, it really is just to share the experience that I had and what I learned in sharing that stage with Kamala Harris back in 2019, and quite frankly, the kinds of tricks that she will play in order to deflect away from her record, which voters need to know about, and the mainstream media, the propaganda media, is trying to cover up. She will rehearse some lines and deliver them very well. President Trump knows the issues and he knows her record, and I look forward to seeing him challenge her and expose the truth about who Kamala Harris really is. - And speaking of the vice president, she's been the Democrats presidential nominee for nearly 40 days and has agreed finally to her first TV interview, and she won't be alone. Harris will be joined by her running mate, Tim Walls, for an interview with CNN's Dana Bash, Little Air Tomorrow Night. The interview comes amid blowback over Harris's avoiding the media since President Biden dropped out, which Harris was asked about a few weeks ago. - There's been a lot of questions about when you're gonna sit down for your first interview, still speaking, then I'm gonna need you. - I talked to my team, I want us to get an interview scheduled before the end of the month. - The joint interview will be pre-taped, not live, something that the Trump campaign has criticized. - French prosecutors have released Telegram CEO, Pavel Durov after four days of questioning over allegations that the app is used for illegal activities. Durov may still face charges related to child abuse, material drug trafficking, and organized crime on the platform. Meanwhile, Telegram says they've done nothing wrong, citing compliance with EU laws. - An illegal immigrant suspected of killing a national restaurant owner in a hit and run in June has confessed. Ulysses Martinez confessed to driving the truck that struck Matt Carney after police say Carney confronted Martinez and his accomplice while they were stealing tools from his truck. Martinez, who's 29, faces several charges, including criminal homicide. The case will now go before a grand jury for further consideration. - And the Massachusetts GOP are tracking down the receipts for the estimated $1 billion spent by the state on migrant housing. Here with the details is Daily Wire senior editor Joel Needler. Their FOIA request demands information about where migrants are being housed, how much it's costing, which entities are profiting from taxpayer contracts, and how much public safety is being affected. In a statement from mass GOP chair Amy Carnavale, she says the current administration has, quote, "withheld critical information on 600 incidents involving police, fire, and EMT, and created a veil of secrecy around the spending." The Center for Immigration Studies released a report on July 24th, estimating that about 355,000 illegal and inadmissible migrants are living in Massachusetts, including 50,000 new arrivals since 2021. 10,000 of those migrants were minors, the vast majority of whom were unaccompanied. - Those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
