I'm Ben Thomas for the NEP News Minute. At least eight people have died from a listeria outbreak link to Borshead deli meats. The CDC says five more deaths have been reported, two in South Carolina. At least 57 people got sick and had to go to a hospital. Bors had recalled more than seven million pounds of deli products. The problem was discovered when a sample of Borshead liverwurst in Maryland tested positive for listeria. The recall was eventually expanded to all foods produced at the Borshead plant in Jarrett, Virginia, including those sliced deli counters, as well as some prepackaged retail sausage, hot dogs, and bacon. Borshead says all the recalled deli meats have been removed from stores and are no longer available. The CDC is urging people to check their refrigerators for any recall products. I'm Ed Donahue.
