For the top subtractive prep sports report, we are broadcasting from the Easter Shore Toyota and Hyundai Studios located right here in South Alabama. I am your host Randy Bergen, joined by Coach Rick Cleveland and Coach Mark Lasterick. How are you doing, brother? Man, I'm a long ride last night. Man, I'm wide awake. Saw a great high school football game last night, but I'm wide awake. Thanks. I know you were talking about it, man, we'll talk more about that game coming up in just a few moments. Hey, Mark, congratulations, Bayside gets a nice win last night over Marbury. Good win for our team and our program. It was really a good win to go all the way up to Marbury and Play. They had just put down a brand new turf field there at Marbury and it was beautiful, but our kids played well and came out with a good win. It was good. We needed a win. It was been a tough week. It was good for them to get back on the winning side of things and get back home safe. So it's a good night. That's a good little track up there, too. It's a good ride. The great thing about a straight interstate is straight interstate and our bus driver just did a great job and got us there and back and we're just so happy to get home. I couldn't wait to fall in my bed last night. Oh, my goodness, oh, my goodness. Hey, look, we have got a great show lined up for you. We're going to get you caught up on all the scores from around the state in just a few moments, but at the bottom of the hour, we'll be talking with coach Zach Goldson from Mary Montgomery. They get a nice win. Rick, 21-17 over Gulf Shores last night. Yeah, and one of the most amazing stats I've ever heard. Gulf Shores quarterback's injured and they put what Caitlyn Wilson, back at quarterback in the first half, he rushed 18 times for 292 yards and I won't tell you something. That's crazy. Everybody that's picking these players of the week, let me tell you, you need to give this kid some kind of recognition because, and you know, I know he's got a pretty good offensive line, but for him to rush 292 yards in one half. One half. That's just that's unheard. I've never heard of that. I've only seen a couple of kids, you know, throughout my whole career, I saw a kid one night at Ben Russell and I said Kendrick Rushford 325 yards and five touchdowns and we still lost to Bob Benley in very high school. But I mean, you don't see that very right and it do it in a half. My goodness. Oh my gosh. You know, you mentioned a name right there. They have the Finley Center right next to the, what's the baseball stadium there? Hoover Met. The Hoover Met. The Finley Center is there. I don't know what it is, but it looks like an amazing complex there. It is so appropriately named for Bob Finley. Absolutely. One of the finest, one of the best to ever do it. Yeah. No doubt. No doubt. Rick's going to have our leadership program or segment at 845 and then at the top of our second hour, we'll be talking with McGill Toolers head football coach David Falmer brought to you by Will To. Yeah. And David had a big win last night. They'd feet Murphy and anytime Murphy and McGill play, it's a slobber knot. Yeah, it is. And so congratulations to David and the McGill Tool and Yellow Jackets. And then a 9-15, we'll talk with Coach Hambour Net at St. Paul's, gets a win over my alma motto. They beat BCHS 24-21, but that was a good ball game in Bayonette to go over there and get a win there as saying something. Well, there's no doubt and that's, I think that's the oldest stadium now in Baldwin County. It probably is. It is. And I know that they still, they love playing there. Those kids love playing there and it's a tough place to play. It's not the brightest lights or anything like that, but I can tell you, they love playing they get after you. So yeah, that's, that's pretty interesting. You got a new head football coach over there, one of our former Daphne Trojans, the Davis kid. What's, and I forget his first name, but I shouldn't even do that on radio. God, I got brain locked too. Well, sure. We didn't get in bed till three o'clock this morning, I mean, so, but it's Wayne Davis's son. But it's, man, we're so excited for him and they talked to him last night and he said, man, I thought we were going coast, but when Bob and Nick came back and had, it was a dog fight. And Andrew's, Andrew Davis. That's right. Yeah. Andrew. Yeah. And, but we'll, we'll be talking with coach Barnett coming up at nine fifteen at the bottom of the second hour. We traveled to Silicon. We talked with coach Chris Melly. Yeah, and I had a big win over Montevala last night, said what, it wasn't pretty. I talked to your buddy, John Black, went after the game and he said, one pretty, but, you know, wins a win. All you do is you fight and scratch and claw and the 10th of the game, you hope you're hit by one point. It's amazing how those wins that are not pretty look beautiful when you're getting beat. Yeah, no doubt. You know what I mean? Yeah. It doesn't matter. Enjoy that. Yeah. Then we'll wrap up the show. Of course, Mark will have the camp grace segment. Mark, let me ask you something. We talked about it last week with Bayside losing last week. How you see that difference? You see it with everybody. First, first game to second game. Did you see that last night with Bayside? Absolutely did. Kids locked in really well on Monday. We got back to work. They knew we had to clean some things up and they did and the, the scores showed that they got things right. Well, let's go ahead and go around and start talking about some of these scores. I'll start you out with seven eight. Piska if I'm not mistaken right now is ranked number 1 in 2A. So maybe that's not the upset that we think it is. Right. You know, anytime you see a Paul benefit team, you just think, well, they're going to win. That's right. So, but I can't tell you at the end of the year, they're going to be smelling sweet sauce. That's exactly right. There's no doubt about that. So don't count your chickens. Don't count those eggs too soon. Providence Christian 28, North Side Methodist 0, Ranburn 23, Woodland 6, Real Town 20, Trinity Presbyterian 3, Sandrock 14, Westin 8, St. Luke's Episcopal 22, Marine go 0, Tuscaloosa Academy 46, Pickens County 0, Vincent 21, BBcomer 18, Winston County 36, Meek 6, and Zion Chapel 36, Elwood Christian 0. You know, you mentioned the school there that has got all of us puzzled to be honest with you, Bell Green, I don't know where Bell Green is, but it's up in the northern part of the state, and there's some discrepancies about them having a football team this year. I think the AHSAA is dealing with that. I think that this is their first year to play football, but there's something going on with that and we've got to keep you posted. I don't know exactly all the fine points about it, but I think they're not in a region, and they're just playing six or seven games, so I don't, you know, and that's just for my point of view, I'm not sure what's going on with that. They're from Russellville. Okay, Russell, Russellville. Russellville, that's in the north corner, that's way up there on the Tennessee line. And you're right, I mean they've played, obviously they've played two games. It looks like they'll play a total of five, seven games. Yeah, they beat Joel's Christian last week. 26. Yeah, so I don't know what the deal is with that. We need to look into that and we'll do that. There's some teams on here, guys. It really, it surprises you that, like Russell, Russell has been good. They lose their coach to Decatur, and now Decatur is trying to rebuild, John Ritter is trying to rebuild that program. I don't remember Austin beating Decatur like they beat him last night. I mean, they pummeled them. They absolutely pummeled them. So a lot of interesting things going on with the AHSAA right now, and it's going to be interesting to see what Heath Harmon, how he brings his, he's trying to hire three or four new people, and it's interesting to see how he attacks this, some of the problems. How's the honeymoon been so far with him? I think he's been good. I really do think he's been good. The central board reversed the ruling that previous administration made, and I think that was a big plus for Coach Harmon in that group. So it's going to take a while, guys. It's going to take a while, but it doesn't. Randy he hadn't got a lot of time, to be honest. There's a lot of, there's a lot of things on the table. He's got a lot of time. He jumped right into the fire, too. He sure did. That job is not one. It's just a thankless job. It doesn't matter what you do. Somebody's always going to be upset. Never matter. Never stops. It doesn't matter. But I did want to talk about something. I don't know if y'all knew this. I found out about it on the way home last night. Gordo was playing Bibb County. Bibb County I think is number one in the state in 3A. That game at one time in the last, Bibb County was up two touchdowns before minutes to go. Gordo somehow gets two touchdowns, goes the overtime and wins after Bibb County missed an extra point. And Gordo's coach, but I wonder if I'd have to say it's Gus Smith. Congratulations to Gordo. Let's take a time out when we come back. We'll visit with Mayor Montgomery's coach Zach Colson. We'll talk to him about his win over Gus Shores last night. Welcome back to the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report. The Pops Market Communication Lines are open at 251-3430-106. Here's your host, Randy Bergen, with Coach Rick Cleveland and Coach Mark Leseter. Born with us this morning. I am Randy Bergen with Coach Rick Cleveland, Coach Mark Laster. Time to go to our Pops Midtown Communication Line and welcome to the head football coach for Mayor Montgomery Zach Colson. Congratulations coach on a nice win over Gus Shores 21-17 last night. Thanks guys, really appreciate it. One night, it's one night and since. You know, Zach, you've coached in some really cool places and done a great job everywhere you've been. I got to ask you this. I want to talk about MGM, but I got to talk about this. You got a young man that rushes a ball 19 times against you for 292 yards in the first half. What did you do at halftime to say, guys, this train's got to stop. When you talk about Colson, a really good high school player and he's committed to Mississippi State, but you guys had to make some adjustments there at halftime, right? Yes, sir. They had lost their quarterback for the week. We didn't know if he was going to play and we went into a game with a, they learned there was going to be a few different possibilities of what they would do offensively, but, you know, when a lot of their best player back, you know, a quarterback and got 10 blockers for him, it made it tough. So, yeah, he did a, yeah, he did a good job, man, he broke some tackles and ultimately we had a, we had to crown the box a little bit more and, you know, we put a couple different guys out there on the field that I think helped us a little bit size-wise, able to bring him to their ground. But, you know, they had a great plan going in for, you know, dealing with the injury that they had and fortunately, I thought we made a good adjustment there at halftime to help get us to win. Well, so, talk about your kids because they had to persevere and it looks like Shondell Harris came up with a huge play late in the game. Yeah, he played really well all night, did a lot of good stuff, you know, on the offensive side of the ball, you know, did a better job this week of distributing the football, you know, to his playmakers, but also did enough with his legs to give us a chance there in the second half, especially, we leaned on him a little bit, got some Q-run of our own and, you know, I thought he did a really good job of just battling, you know, it was a tough physical game, it's the second one of those we've had this year. So, you know, we're getting battle tested early, which I think is really good for us going into region play and, you know, with the possibility of making a run into the playoffs. We're talking to Zack Ghost and the head football coach at Mary G Montgomery and, you know, Zack, I think a lot of people really understand as best they can what a great job you have done there. You and that staff, I want you to talk about your staff a little bit here because you have assembled a really, really good high school staff. This got a little bit of college in them, a lot of several of them played college football, but they're people that you've known for a long time. Talk a little bit about that staff. Yeah, really, really fortunate, the group of guys that we have, and honestly, I was fortunate this offseason just to be able to hold on to them. A lot of guys, they had, you know, some of our guys had some opportunities to go do other things. Most of them, you know, were able to stick around. We were able to hold on to them. Alex Page, our defensive coordinator, 7A assistant coach of the year last year. Our defense has been very, very strong the last couple of years and it has a chance to be really good again. You know, Andrew Reeves, offensive coordinator, came with me from Daphne and he's done a great job, man. He's a really sharp young mind. It's going to be a head coach one day. Hopefully, not any time soon, but he's a really good ball coach and does a great job. Offensive line coaches, Jacob Carter and Devin Crawford do a great job up front. Ramell Jones and Ricque Williams, who played at South Alabama. I coached those guys for a year south and the chemistry that they have Alex on defense is very, very strong. Keith Jones, Wayne Washington, guys that have been in the community of sins for a long time. Just really good people played high level high school football and that's done a great job for us. We added a guy, Cullen Wacker, who y'all might be familiar with when he played, or McGill. Yeah, if I quarterback at McGill and played baseball at Auburn, has been a, you know, unfortunately, Coach Kurt Page went to Prattville this all season, got closer to his grandbabies and, you know, had a really good opportunity at Prattville High School, closer to his brother Tony. So we're really, we're happy for him, hated to lose him, but Coach Wacker's done a nice job stepping into our quarterback coach role. And so he's done a good job. John Baxter, special team, we've got a really good staff of guys, man. We really do scholar's leg because of our tight ends. Carlos Turner with our receivers. We got a deep staff of guys that are just good people that do a great job with our team. You know, Coach, you do have a good staff, a bunch of good men, and I'm so happy for you guys. And you guys are going to be getting, I know y'all going to enjoy the win today and get back to work tomorrow because I believe you start region play next week at home against Daphne High School and Daphne's going to come in 2-0 and Kenny King's kind of got those guys doing their thing a little bit. And so it ought to be quite a ballgame. Tell us a little bit about your preparation for that upcoming region game. Yeah, took a little peek at them late in the week, last week, and, you know, they do a good job. They've done a really good job this year. Offensively, a quarterback to sophomore that's a really good player. You know, they've got some good skill players around him that were younger last year that are getting a little bit older and have developed, you know, really well this all season. O-line's big and physical and they're always really good on the defensive front. Coach King does such a good job with those guys. Obviously, NFL defensive lineman is hard to get much better than that when you got somebody that can teach that position. So, and then, you know, there's scrappy and physical in the secondary and then a linebacker. So, they're definitely going to be a good team. Somebody that we knew felt like would be improved this year. And so, you know, we think it's going to be a really good challenge for us and something that we're looking forward to. Well, as you go forward, what have you seen the biggest improvement? And it's always a cliche that we use, Zach. You'll see the most improvement from week one to two. I don't necessarily buy into that because I think you continue to see a great deal of improvement as you go from week to week to week. Because it's one game season, all year. I mean, that's what it is. Where have you seen improvement from week one to week two? You know, I thought one of the things that we did a much better job of this past week was just our body language and our belief and what we were doing, how we were doing our belief in each other. And, you know, truthfully, just the amount of penalties that we had, we went from 15 on offense alone last week to three total of the team this week. So, you know, I think that was, you know, first game zitters on the road, some of the things, you know, I think they were a little bit tighter on some things in the Florida crew, maybe than what we're used to. But, you know, I think part of it was pace had already played a game. And then we were going into our first game. So, I think that was kind of noticeable. But, you know, we tightened up some of those things and we just had a better week of preparation overall. And I agree with you, I think this team, because we are inexperienced, we're going to get better week to week. We can really improve a lot week to week. And so, that's one of the things we're going to challenge our guys with. And I think, you know, that they'll respond the way they responded this past week. We're going to be in good shape. Oh, a visit with coach Zach Goulson, hit the ball coach from here Montgomery. Coach, let me ask you in closing here, talk about the community and support. I mean, I know that stadium is packed and will be packed again on Friday night. Yeah, it was a great environment last night, great high school environment. Man, our band, our cheer, our dance team. They did a great job. They were loud. Our students were loud. And then, you know, our stadium was packed on our side. So, you know, I was really pleased with that. Big shout out to our booster club. They did a great job of creating an environment. We try to create something a little bit different in our end zones, you know, where we have a setup for our booster clubs and our coaches' wives. And then some people can buy or rent tents for the games. And so that was a great setup, man. It was just a lot of fun. Had a ribbon cutting for our brand new turf field. So thankful to Doug Harwell and all the people that helped make that happen. You know, so really great environment for high school football. It's a small town vibe with seven ex football, so it's really a lot of fun to be a player. I know it is. I know it is. Coach, congratulations on the win. You got a big one coming up, as we mentioned. That should be a real good one. Folks, get out there. If you want to watch a good football game Friday night, Daphne and Mary Montgomery is going to be awesome. Hey, Coach, thanks for taking time to be with us. Congratulations again. We'll have you back on real soon. Yes, sir. Thank you, guys. Thanks for all y'all do for high school sports, man. Thank you, buddy. Thanks, Coach. All right, Coach Zach, Zach Goulson right there. I'm going to tell you what, you look at, you look at Gulf Shore, excuse me, Daphne and Mary Montgomery, just looking at some of this. It looks like they go to Pascal Big Good Match Up. It's going to be a really good match up. You know, I watched Daphne last week and we had our first game, our Birmingham game was thirsty last week, so I got to go up once Daphne. You know, he talks about Kenny coaching the defensive line. Let me tell you, Mark, they're going to make some mistakes because they're full speed ahead on every snap up front. I mean, it's the quickest group of kids and we've been watching Daphne for what? Since 1997 or so. And let me tell you, it's the quickest and the best defense I've ever seen at Daphne. And I'm saying something. I mean, they've had some great defense. Man alive and they're so quick and those linebackers, I mean, they cover the linebackers up, but they steal the linebackers are flowing, they're stepping up and making the tackle in the gaps. And in that secondary, they got a couple of long kids back there. It's they're good at every level. When you got a really good couple of players up front, you got a good one or two linebackers and you got three kids in the secondary, you're talking about a good defensive football team. And they got a tenth grade quarterback that's going to be a really good player. And it's fun to watch them. Randy, you get a chance that you might drive up and watch them. I'm certainly going to do that for sure. All right, we'll take a time out when we come back coach Cleveland has our leadership segment right here on the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report. Welcome back to the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report. PSR is live every Saturday from eight until 10 a.m. Now back to the show. And we welcome back to the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report. It is time for our leadership segment. Coach Cleveland has got that for us. Coach, what you got? You know, we really appreciate everything that Nathan Cox and those guys at 68 Ventures. Oh, they feed us with so much great information and appreciate Go Pass for being the sponsor of this leadership segment. We haven't talked a lot about John Maxwell, but John Maxwell is an author. He's a speaker. He's a pastor. And John has written several books. They're on the New York Times bestseller list. And I'm sure Tracy's probably read some because she reads a book a day. It seems like more. Three of his books have sold over a million copies each. He speaks annually to Fortune 500 companies, companies and international government leaders and organizations like the United States Military Academy. And they just don't invite anybody to come in and speak to the United States Military Academy at West Point. I mean, they bring in leaders. They bring in people who exhibit leadership characteristics in every aspect of their life. And John Maxwell is a man who speaks there on an annual basis. He also speaks to the National Football League and the owners. And he's an inspiring man. He's a person who lives his talk. And I wanted to share some quotes that John Maxwell has that I just think hit home with a lot of us and hope it resonates with you as much as it resonated with me when I was able to look at these quotes by John Maxwell. A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. A great leader's courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion, not position. If you're a parent, you have probably already realized that your children are always watching what you do. And just as children watch their parents and emulate their behavior, so do employees who are watching their bosses. A word of encouragement from a teacher to a child can change a life. A word of encouragement from a spouse can save a marriage. A word of encouragement from a leader can inspire a person to reach her potential. Teammates, I'm sorry, teamwork makes the dream work. But a vision, okay. Mark's half asleep. He nodded off for a second. Teamwork, I'm going to send John Maxwell a note and tell him to send you some, just some little snippets that might resonate with you. Boy, teamwork makes the dream work, but a vision becomes a nightmare when the leader has a big dream and a bad team. That's pretty powerful right there. I'm going to read that again. Teamwork makes the dream work, but a vision becomes a nightmare when the leader has a big dream and a bad team. A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them and strong enough to correct them. I was talking to a coach the other day on the phone. We were getting ready for our Tuesday show and he said, coach, I've known you for a lot of years. He said, I want to tell you a story. He said, I had a coach who didn't work out that I hired about five years ago and he said he left and he was bitter when he left. I went to him at your meeting in Montgomery and I asked him, I said, he called his name and said, can I have a moment with you? Can I share with you? And the man said, he got one minute and he looked him in the eye and he said, you know, I've always heard that if you keep looking in your rearview mirror, you can't go forward. And I thought about you and your family and I want you to know what I did when I made the decision to terminate you was best for our football team. But I will tell you this, the job you have now, when that athletic director called me, I told him everything I could tell him positive about you and that took a long time because I want you to know that I don't judge you because and I don't ever judge you, you made that point. He said, I am not blind to your strengths because I know your weaknesses. And I've watched and kept up with you over the last couple of years and you have done more to fix those weaknesses and any man I've ever been around. And I just want you to know that I'm proud of you. And I'm sorry it didn't work out for us but I am so super excited that you now are a head coach and you have fixed what was broken in your backpack. I thought that that carried a whole lot of weight. And what that guy did that he was talking to, he took off his glasses and the coach said, I thought he was fixing to hit me. He put his arms around him and hugged him. His tears ran down his face. He said, coach, I've never been able to tell you this. But what you did for me and my family is the greatest gift you could have ever given me because it woke me up from a really bad dream. That's exactly what John Maxwell was talking about. You know, leaders, if they don't have a great team around them, they're just average. And Mark, I've seen, you know, I'm gonna go back to Phil Lassen. I am because I saw the leadership that Phil exhibited and y'all were cohesive and you did everything together. And when one was wrong, it didn't bother another to point out the weakness in that person. And they were able to correct that you had that many times, you know, you've had those conversations with coaches. And as we go forward as coaches, and as we begin, and we got a lot of new young coaches in this state, and the thing I think that they can learn is they can't be a great leader without a great team. You just can't do it. You cannot be successful as a head coach. If you don't have coaches around, you coach Brian said it forever. He said, guys, I want to hire people who are smarter than me to be my assistant coaches because those are the guys that give us all of the ideas and give us everything and lay the groundwork for us to become who we want to become. So I love John Maxwell, and I love his quotes. And that quote about teamwork resonated with me because I talked to a coach in North Alabama who had an assistant coach who he wanted to motivate, showed him what kind of leadership he had done in his life. I think that's a great story. First hour coming gone, when we come back, we're going to visit with David Falton, McGill Tulan, brought to you by will to right here on the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report. Coming to you live, the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report. Presented by Alpha. Here's your host, Randy Bergen with coach Rick Cleveland and coach Mark Lasseter. And we welcome you into the second hour of the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report coming to you live from the Easter Shore Toyota and Hyundai studios. I'm glad to have you on board with us. I am Randy Bergen, along with coach Rick Cleveland, coach Mark Laster. Guys, time to go back to our Thompson Midtown community communication line and welcome in the head football coach for McGill Tulan. Coach David Falton brought to you by will to coach. Thanks for taking time to be with us. Congratulations on a nice win last night over Murphy 326. We're going to break that game down a little bit, but congratulations. Oh, thank you. Thank you very much. David, you got all the pain off of you, buddy. I was fortunate enough to avoid the orange paint last night, but some of our players did may look like pumpkins when they left here. I heard you last night on our good friend Tim Titer's "Pickskin Pete" show, and you said you did not want to be a witness to any of that, so you just won't. Yeah, I like that. I just turned my head, I just turned my head one the other way. So, yeah, that's uh, but the kids enjoyed that and it was a fun night for them, and I'm excited for them that they got the experience to win. You know, rivalries are a big deal, and I was in Birmingham last night. You'd love this, and did the Spain Park and Hoover game, and you talking to me, I mean, it was rabid, and it reminded me of McGill and Murphy, because that's an old mobile. It's an old mobile, David. You throw Viger in there against Murphy and some of those teams, but McGill and Murphy is an old time rivalry. How much does it change at school, and for you when it's a Murphy and McGill game? Well, you know, I said this last night is, well, we always have people around the school and in the McGill community that are heavily involved and do things around the school, but you can tell what playing Murphy because it picks up a little bit. There's a lot of excitement all week. There's different activities all week, and then Friday is just, you know, absolutely crazy with the student body and the energy and the spirit that goes on for that. So, it's uh, it's definitely a different week and a lot of things that go on, but you have to navigate as a coach to try to keep the team focused. You know, David, y'all scored 32 points last night and kind of set the tone with, but your defense only gave up six. Tell us a little bit about what those guys did defensively to hold Murphy on to only six points. You know, I think the last two weeks, I think the Daphne scores a little bit deceiving in terms of how our defense played. I thought they played really well against Daphne. We put them in some bad situations with uh, with offense a little bit in that game. And then last night, they came out with another great effort. I thought the, uh, I thought the speed in which we played with on defense and the physicality that we played with on defense was apparent from the very beginning. And man, their quarterback at Murphy, that kid's an exceptional athlete and we did a really good job of keeping him contained and boxed up and we tackled in the open field well. And I think if we can continue to improve on that and get better from week to week on that, then I don't got a chance to play solid defense this year. You know, you had a player and I call them multi-talented players. And when you talk about John, I think it was Linahan that just had a phenomenal game. Talk a little bit about John. Yeah, yeah, Jack's, uh, Jack's with all me now. Yeah, he can, he can pull, he can, he can do a lot of different things for you. He is a really good athlete. He's a fluid athlete. He can do a, do a number of things and he plays all over the place for us, uh, in terms of at wide out at running back. And then the things that he does in the return game, kicking wise. And then also the places that he plays special teams went down cover kicks. So he kind of, he kind of does a little bit of it all. And he, and he checked all the boxes last night. I think he had about 80 yards receiving, uh, about that mini Russian and then blocked a punt that we scoop and scored for a touchdown. So yeah, he, uh, he's a multi-talented guy that can play a lot of different positions and gives you some, some options and some flexibility in your game plan. You know, David, looking at y'all's, uh, schedule and the, the region play that y'all are in is, is like unbelievable. Y'all play eight region games. I think it's a nine team region. If I'm not mistaken and y'all got eight region games coming up and, or you've already got one, you got Murphy down last night. But now you got Theodore, Gulf Shore, Sarah Land, you take a break with Davidson, which is no break. I mean, them guys are, that's going to be another good ball game. So as you look down that deal, every week's like a playoff game, how do you guys handle that? What do y'all do? Do you talk about it or just let the games handle themselves? Uh, you know, obviously the biggest thing that we talk to our kids about is, is body maintenance and taking care of yourself physically because each and every Friday you're going to go play a big strong, fast opponent and it's going to be physically demanding on you. And then in terms of the game planning and the, and the opponent, you just, you just focus on that opponent that week. And when you get to Saturday, you turn the page to the next guy. Just, you're like you said in our region, unfortunately, you know, you, you play a, uh, an outstanding opponent. And then when you do turn the page, there's another outstanding opponent waiting on you. So there's really no, you're margin for error. And this region is small. And you got to try to collect wins, uh, in the region, you know, when you can, and then like you said, just with the quality of football and mobile, you turn around and you're non-region guys or, or, or quality football programs as well. So it's, it's, it's a 10 week meet grinder. And if you can find a way, uh, to get yourself into the playoffs and you, you're definitely going to be battle tested and ready to play out football. David, I got to watch a little bit of the Daphne game. And I, I'm going to tell you, your quarterback, that is one tough rascal. And Daphne was so quick upfront and there was always pressure on your quarterback in the sense that they, I mean, they're just so stinking quick. But he did such a good job. I thought of trying to find something. Sometimes when there wasn't a whole lot there, I was just so, I was so proud of the job that your quarterback did last week. Yeah. And Andrew is a, now he's a throwback football player in his mentality and his approach. And you know, he's a student of the game. He loves football. He comes in every day, ready to improve and get better. And he's really, he's really a joy to coach. I love getting up in the morning, knowing that I get a, I coach the quarterback. So I, I love getting up in the morning, knowing that I get to coach Andrew and coach and coach. I know that he's going to give me his best every day. He's going to be a great leader, uh, with his team. And he's just, he's just old tough, hard-nosed, he's going to play the win and, and do whatever he thinks the team needs, uh, to do to be successful. And, uh, you know, I, I think, uh, as the year goes and he continues to play well, I think there'll be a, a lot more people from a collegiate aspect, uh, take notice. And I think he's got a chance to really have a future in football. Well, and he's a multi-sport athlete and that's, that, that impresses me as much as anything. Hey, David, thank you for taking time to spend with us this morning. Get some rest, watch some college football. I know you're going to be watching West Virginia because you got a bunch of buddies up there having been up there. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. We, uh, we started out standing earlier this morning. I was like, hey, we got a big, I got to get a whole bunch of them out here. But, yeah, so we're, we're looking forward to that. Well, coach, thank you and good luck against Theodore. We'll be in touch. All right. Thank y'all. All right. Coach David Farner right there here for both coach for the yellow jackets of McGill Tulin one and one right now. And, and Ricky, you know, you said it. That, that game last week against Daphne. They lost that 34-16. Yeah. That, that defense that Daphne's got is going to give troubles for a lot of, uh, a lot of teams this year. Yeah, it's going to be fun watching what them and Zach do. Zach, uh, Kenny have a great relationship. They know a lot about each other and having coached together. So that's going to be a fun matchup. I do want to throw a plug in here. First of all, I want to throw the plug in for boom. Boom is, is at the pig in Fair Hope and it is booming. It is booming. So much that I got to go to work. There you go. Again, you don't work, but about five different jobs. And so that's good. That's good. She's there in the pig. We got the best fried chicken guy sitting here with us that ever worked. We got, we got boom, we got boom that goes in there and gives us some of the finest high foods you could ever put in your mouth. And let me tell you this, you talk about that curry with pineapple. Yeah. Yeah, you can have that. You better get you some boom roles. I'm telling you, they'll knock you off your feet, boys. There's something special. Go see boom, tell her Randy sent you. That's all you got to do. She will greet you with a smile. Unless she's real busy and there she say, I can't talk right now. All right, let's take a time out when we come back. We'll visit with Ham Barn and St. Paul's right here on the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report. Welcome back to the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report. Call or text the Prep Sports Report at 251-343-0106 on the Pumps Market Communication Lines. Now back to the show. Ben, we are rolling through this second hour of the Thompson Tractor Prep Sports Report. I'm your host Randy Burgen, along with the superstars Coach Rick Cleveland, Coach Martin Laster. Time to go back to our Pumps Midtown Communication Line and welcome in Head for Ball Coach for St. Paul's Ham Barnette. Brought to you by Green and Phillips. Coach, thanks for taking time to be with us. Congratulations. Nice win last night over my alma mater, BCHS. You win 24-21 board. What a ball game. Yeah, got a lot tighter in the fourth quarter. We were up 24-7 with about three minutes left in the third quarter. They had a third in 16 from the minus 23 and we sent a blitz and they hit us on a vertical and that kind of swung them in them, balling county's way. And then they scored again on their following drive and then I don't think anybody scored in the fourth quarter. It was a tough game, man. I thought, you know, we were up 24-7, two scores. I thought we had it in the bag. I think our kids did too and then that big play happened and that minimum changed everything. You know, it ended a funny thing, Ham, how momentum can shift like that and sometimes one play can shift momentum and just totally turn a game around. Was there any point in time where you thought that one play was at that touchdown right there at the end of the third quarter that changed momentum? And how do you attack that? How do you as a head coach, what do you do to try to get that momentum back on your side? Well, we talk all the time to our kids about playing the next play and we kind of have to hang our hat on our defense right now and they gave up that big play and then balling county got the ball back and we had two 15-yard penalties. They caught a pass interference and they called it targeting, which I don't know is it's kind of iffy to me on both of them, but it kind of is what it is and you just ask your guys to continue to play and you defend on the culture and we gave up the score right there on second and goal that time men's kid for balling county who's one of the most phenomenal athletes I've ever seen in high school football and then, you know, I feel like our kids continue to play and we got a big fourth down stop with three minutes left and that kind of ice the game fourth and we gave it to our big boy tank four times to get too first down. But I was just proud of our kids, you know, we got ahead and then lost the momentum, but our kids continue to fight and that's all you can have to do. That's exactly right coach. And one of the things I want to talk to you about this morning was, you know, in two weeks now you guys have played two tough football games either, no matter how the ebb and flow of the game goes. At the end of the day, you all come out and with two wins, an overtime win against a good UMS right football team and then another big road win at balling county went in by three points. So your kids are kind of getting like you said a minute ago, you're getting a little battle tested off the get go. How is this going to help moving forward as y'all head forward the next year? I think you have a open week coming up and then you got Murphy after that. So how is this going to help getting them ready for down the stretch for all these tough region games you got coming up? Well, I wish we quit doing it because I don't know if my heart can handle much more of it. It's rough man. I mean, you know, that part we're going in that UMS game. It's three weeks to build up a community talk and your tech message and phone calls all the time. People coming in the office to ask how you're going to do and I tell you what, like it was about noon on that Friday and I felt like I was going to throw up and I was like, I had thrown it up in 17 years from anything. And, you know, and I finally just, you know, breathed and prayed and got calm and I was really in a good place for that game regardless of the outcome. And then, you know, this week too, getting up 24/7, I kind of breathed the style of relief and then it becomes a 4/4 game. But, I mean, you know, we are battle tested. I don't really know exactly where we are at the team right now because I don't know how good our opponents are, you know, really either. So, but I just do, I mean, I'm proud of our kids for continuing to fight. I think our kids understand we kind of try to build our culture to around 4/4, being a 4/4 team. And we've been able to do that the last two weeks. So, hopefully it doesn't continue to be 4/4 games, but if it is, it is what it is in our region because we got a bunch of tough opponents in there. Yes, you do, buddy. We're talking to Ham Barnett, the head football coach at St. Paul's and had a big win over Ballroom County last night. I only go back to week one, Ham. You know, when you talk about this rivalry and it's one of the most intense parent rivalries that I know of, and I mean that because I haven't been in this game for, you know, I guess 20 years. I think the parents get so involved in it and it carries over into the kids, but then on Saturday, you'll see those kids watching football games together. And it's a great rivalry. But how do you, how did you go about getting your kids ready to play after that big win over such a big rival? It's got to be a, it's got to be a mound of, of worry for you to get your team back up on that plane to be ready to take off and play another opponent after playing your biggest rival in week one. I mean, it is. I mean, it's, it's, it's tough, but also we have a pretty experienced group. And so something I've been able to do this year more than other years is really depend on them to lead the football team. And so I wouldn't say we had probably the most beautiful practices for those three days leading up four days leading up to Ball County, but we did kind of like a robot. We were doing the right thing, but I didn't feel like our focus and attention to detail was always there. And so there was some concerns I had. And some of those, you know, that focus and attention to detail stuff showed up on Friday night. So, but honestly going into last night's game, what we talked about before the game is just to have fun it's still high school football. You know, we got over that big game against UMS where there's a lot of pressure and anxiety. And then going into Ball and County is almost like a breath of pressure here just not place the people down the street and have the whole team talking about it all the time, you know. So, but like I said, I mean, I really depending on our kids to lead this team because I've got guys on that team that played a lot of football been with me for a long time. So it really falls back on those guys. You know, how I want you to talk about your faith a little bit here, because this is something that is the it is the really is the main, of course, it's the main thing in your life. And you've expressed that time after time after time. Talk about how you overcome obstacles through your faith as being the head coach and the leader of a large group of young people. Well, it kind of goes back to what scripture says, you know, I'm here for a such a time as this. And so as long as I'm at St. Paul's, which I want to be for a long time, it's just about trusting God in the moment, you know. And, you know, sometimes I ask him, I'm like, you know, why do we have to play in six day region one to get to all these all these power out? You know, this isn't fair, this isn't fair. But I think God has me here and my family here for a reason. It's just the pouring of these kids. And that's something another special thing about St. Paul is we get to go to chapel at the team every game day. And I walked from the field house of the chapel, which is probably about a 15 minute walk. And that's why I really am able to calm down here God and give a whatever word he wants me to speak to our kids. And, you know, I feel like, you know, last week when we played you and that's the word he gave me was gratitude, you know, because I feel like everybody was anxious and nervous. But if you have a grateful heart, it could have told those things away. And so I was told them how grateful I was for them, all the things they've all the things they've done for me, all the things they've done for the coaches in the community. And just to go have fun and be grateful for the moment and enjoy the game, you know, and truly what it comes down to is just going back to God all the time. I'm actually on a walk that I take every Saturday morning to just to kind of meditate and think and pray. And that's where I am today is just really grateful for where we are. Man, that's good stuff. That is good stuff right there. Got to tell you got to say, Hey, I'm always great to hang out with you, brother. Congratulations on the win. Enjoy the weekend, enjoy some college football. And we look forward to having you back on real soon. Yeah, by a week couldn't come any sooner. I'm going to enjoy myself this weekend. There you go. There you go. All right. Coach, Ann Barnett, St. Paul's, they get the win last night, 24/21. Of course, brought to you by Green and Phyllis. He's a good one. There's no doubt. He's a he's a he's a difference maker. He has ham doesn't for the right reason. Sure does. That's exactly right. Guys, I got to get this plug in. You know, our buddies over at at Premier Collision last night, we're driving back in the rain and I see, you know, there's records here, records there and they're all hauling people off. And of course, we were coming from Birmingham. But boy, if you're here in the Mobile Ball and County area and you have one of those little fender benders, you want that record to take you to Premier Collision. They're located over at 1177 Sledge Drive. You can reach them at four seven eight two five one four seven eight forty five hundred. And I'll tell you, they will treat you just like family. They fixed all of our vehicles. And every time we go in there, they thank us for bringing them to our business. They're great people. Go in and see. You really want to see Chris or Kim and Tyler. You want to see Kim more than you do. You really do. That Tyler's in there too. So, we really appreciate everything they do for high school sports all around. They know that. I know that. Let's take another time out. When we come back, we hit the Silicon and we talked to the hit football coach for the Aggies of Silicon coach Chris Smelly up next right here on the Thompson tractor prep sports report. Welcome back to the Thompson tractor prep sports report brought to you by Alpha Insurance. Now back to your host Randy Bergen. You know, Coach, we always want a little boss gags to keep going. But we can't do it anymore. Just football season. So, we got that right in and welcome everybody back to the Thompson tractor prep sports report. Randy Bergen coach Rick Cleveland coach Mark Laster. And we go back to our Thompson Midtown communication line and we go up to a place that's very, very sacred to you. Hey, man. Silicon, Alabama. We speak with the hit football coach for the Aggies of Silicon Chris Smelly on the line with us. Coach, how you doing? Hey, I'm here. Sorry. How you up there? We're doing good. But I was going to say you're presented by Verizon wireless and hopefully you got your phone with you all the time. We didn't hear you there. So, you understand why I said that? If you guys, if you go out to the lake or you go anywhere, take your phone with you. I have to remind you, you did market all the time, Chris. You learned that lesson the hard way, but I'm so thankful that everything you got back. Hey, Chris, before we get into football, I got to ask you, the last time we had you on, that Saturday they were doing the, what's the name of the show, Heart for Heroes? Yeah. And I tried to get home to watch it. How did that turn out? I wanted to see it. Man, it was neat. You know, it was a pretty big con production, honestly. And I told my wife, I said, you did an amazing job in your TV debut there, babe. She was on there about half the show. But it was really, really well done and just really highlighted those first responders and, you know, us getting to meet the crew that found me out there and all was, was pretty special. So we won't forget that one. Well, I wouldn't have had a voice if I'd have been, you I'd have been hollering and screaming and saying, but I couldn't have been in that little thing that you're in. I promise you that you're in a lot better shape than Mark and I are. But we're just glad everything turned out to weigh it did pal. Two and I was a great feeling. That's a great feeling. So that means you've won four in a row if I'm not mistaken. So the guy with the Aggies have, have had four really good weeks going back to the last two weeks of last season and first two weeks of this season. Yeah, you know, I mean, we had, we've gotten on to a big losing streak there over a span of three seasons. And so to be it sitting at four wins in a row last night, I told our guys in the game, we made that one a lot tougher than we needed to. You know, I thought we made a lot of kind of dumb mistakes. Unfortunately, we lost our starting quarterback on the first play of the game to a collarbone and sort of figure out figure things out after that. And so had a young quarterback that came in and, you know, and he'll he'll settle in and get a little bit better. And we'll figure out how to how to prepare the game around him here moving forward for the next couple of weeks. But proud of our guys for a win. And yeah, that's a torn a row for the good guy. Well, you got a pretty good guy coaching quarterbacks for him because that guy that does coaching quarterbacks, I'm sure, is the guy that's played quarterback most of his life. So I'm sure that you've you do that yourself, right? I do. Yeah, I get to coach them. So at the end of the day, it falls back on me. I got to get those guys prepared. So we're excited about where we're at and how to be two and oh, and got to go figure out week by week how to find a way to keep winning. So what coach tell us a little bit about last night when the quarterback when your quarterback got hurt, that's always a it's such a difficult thing when your quarterback goes out of the game because he kind of runs the show out there. He leads the whole party and you can't ever really get the backup enough reps at practice because he's got it because if starters got to be ready for Friday night and there's only X amount of hours in the day, what do y'all do? How did y'all do that to help that young man last night lead your offense after your quarterback got hurt? Yeah, so you know, we just weren't able to spread the ball out and do as much as what we were planning on doing. CJ opened in our first game if we popped up, shown passes and we were pretty wide open and kind of had some of that built into our plan this week and we had we'd also installed a little wildcat quarterback and jumbo package type stuff that we were able to rely on a little bit last night but we just we had to be more physical, run the ball a little bit more and then just take our chances in the past game for what's all we needed to but you know it is it is tough like you're saying you can't there's just been possible to get your quarterback enough reps especially you know at five a football and you know if you're one way completely don't have anybody playing both ways you might get them with some more reps with a little bit tougher when you're having to share time and share players and all that but proud of proud of our team at the end of the day for a win. You know you got next week we play you guys play hopeful tell us a little bit about that upcoming ball game and what do you foresee you guys getting what are you all going to do to kind of help your quarterback and get into the flow of the game? Yeah, we want to put him in good positions to be successful but you know getting back into our first region game our region plays good physical football where everybody runs the ball and relies on playing good defense and so you just got to go out there you got to want it more than they want it you got to be sound in your in your blocking schemes and be physical and that's uh at the end of the day is is what it's going to take going football in our region. Talk about that region uh we're talking to Chris Smelly the head football coach of the Sorkag Aggies. Talk a little bit about that region because I believe your if I'm not mistaken the region has changed the the look of the region has changed. Talk a little bit about that. Yeah um central clay is in our region and then uh you know Danny Horn is a legendary coach and does a fantastic job and they kind of have stepped the tone for the region for a while now um but though regard Elmore County uh Holtville Marbury uh Valley uh some good football you know I was very impressed my first year I didn't have a coach in this area and been around this area very much but just uh watching the quality of the football things from this past year I was very impressed and know that you know every one of those region games could be some be tough to win and so you got to come down you got to play your best you got to tackle really well um and so it's a challenge each and every week. Talk just a little bit about the evolution of this football team what what are the things that you've tried to create culture wise to bring this program get it going toward the goal that you want to ultimately achieve. Yeah that's that's been our biggest focus um man last year when I came in year one uh we had a talented football team good group of skill players we had a tough schedule um but we we don't have as much overall talent this year but I feel like we're taking big steps and just who we are as a team we are as a program uh we we really got after in the weight range this past year um but just overall you know we're um we're investing in and showing that we're investing in our kids our school just uh put a bunch of uh health towards us building a new weight room and we call the Aggie Performance Center uh for all of our sports and it's a big beautiful place uh right equipment came in and and took care of all did all the equipment stuff and everything in that space is brand new and it's just a gorgeous facility um and so you know we're uh investing in our guys and doing a lot and um and training who we want to be as a team and what does it look like to be a leader what does it look like uh you know not not taking any of those things for granted about what it takes to be a good winning football team you know one of the things Chris that I want to begin to highlight as we start our 25th year of this program you've got a you inherited a couple of coaches and one of the coaches that you inherited is your offensive line coach not only is he a great teacher but he is one of the finest offensive line coaches in any at any level of high school football in the state talk just a little bit about him yeah just here's a great job he's a very intense guy uh love love is the meaner you got to have that as an offensive line coach and then he also the math teacher and uh he coaches math about the same way that he coaches offensive line and so uh you know he gets in there and uh he gets after these very detailed oriented and um he's the we're we're blessed uh that I was able to have him here with us when uh when I showed up in silicaga well when you have great teachers in the classroom it parlays over to being a great teacher on the football field I can promise you that that's we can tell you story after story after story about those kind of men and women as well uh in all sports and uh I think you're blessed to have Jeff there with you he's one heck of a guy he's had a little head coaching experience as well he's a great teacher he's a wonderful example of of what an offensive line coach should be and I know you're glad to have him look congratulations on the win as an alum mighty proud of the job you've done there only thing that we want you to do is mark and I want you to keep john blackman on a level road I want you to make sure you look after him good luck having him out there with us and uh you know every once in a while he comes in with some good sage advice and uh and drops it in at the right time on a friday night so that I like that I love that hey you take care you have a you have a great day today and uh enjoy that family and I just hope that uh you enjoy your labor day weekend get ready for another one next friday night pal yep absolutely thank you guys for having me y'all take care of george crap for me down there don't worry I got him under wraps all right nice coach appreciate it coach chris smelly right there they have all coach for the Aggies of silica he's doing a good job up there to start out to you know when's the last time that happened well it's been a while I can tell you it's been a while and uh mighty excited for for for chris but i'm really more excited for uh that that entire community because you know baby comers had a really great run they're a little damn this week but the i mean this year adam faucet has done such a tremendous job at baby comer and now it looks like that we've got uh you know some some some good things going on on both sides of the tracks just good people good solid people and we're excited about it and i think it's going to be uh i think it's i think as we see things evolve i think we'll see two really good programs about there you know uh we mentioned silica their next game will be against hollvall yep and steps in a former coach yep that hopeful there he is right there he is coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry coach berry gifson is in the house we'll have coach jeff bowers on with us uh at 10 30 we'll talk some football with him we'll talk a lot of football with him yep so uh we got a big show lined up hey i need you to tell jeff what you do a show with a guy that he really got on in a baseball game one time i mean he got on me from left right from up to down and finally learned my name and he said clean that's brutal absolutely brutal and he smiled what he said he talking about the strike zone he was right too well i had to take a time out mark has got the camp grace segment right after this this segment of the tumpson tractor prep sports report brought to you by camp grace now back to coach rick cleveland camp grace is located in west mobile is the summer home of camp rap i hope camp mash camp smile and camp sugar falls as well as a home of outback mobile and is shared by many other community organizations throughout the mobile area camp grace is a place where God's love is bestowed freely upon others the true definition of God's grace you know we talk about we come here every saturday and we talk about um sports and games and school we all this kind of thing we talk we spend a lot of time talking to coaches and and uh and and officials and you know what people who want to get on our show and we talk with them we want them to come on but you know in actuality this show and what we do is to try to benefit the kids that play these games because that's where this whole thing you know without kids playing games we don't have a show we don't have sports we don't have anything so that's what this thing is all about and i i've been thinking about that you know as the season gets started we we have a tendency everybody gets to the police you know i start looking at uh who got beat by who and who's going to be what coaches is on the hot seat here all this kind of stuff you know and i got to thinking you know let's see what's really what's really here and some things that we can do all of us as parents as coaches what can we do to help our kids have the best chance of success in their chosen field of endeavor one of the thing that coach savory said years and years ago i'll never forget when i was very young coach he was had a parent meeting and he says he told us all the parents in that room he says i don't want to lose our team at the supper table and it kind of caught me off guard a little bit because you know now back in those days and then in my youth and years too Rick you know we everybody ate several of them a lot absolutely you know that was it doesn't happen as much anymore it's not not the that's not the culture anymore and it's fine i'm not seeing anything's wrong with it but that's the way it is but what the point coach was making was we don't want to lose the kids at home we don't want to lose them there and so i got to thinking about that as we start moving into this into the season and there's going to be good things that happen and bad things that happen and people are going to get upset about this are happy about that but god gives us a plan there's in Titus 2 7 where it says in everything set them an example by doing what is good now we all know to me that's about as easy as scripture as you can figure out by set an example for your kids by doing what is good it's easy to talk bad about well why did that coach do this or why did he do that you know in front of your in front of your kids your kids love you now they may respect their coach but they're not going to respect them as much if they hear the people they love who their parents and their family downgrading the guy that they're supposed to be respecting and playing for whether you agree or not or don't or disagree with how your coach runs the program is insignificant in front of the eyes of that kid at home support that coach support your kid you know kids come home coach did this and coach did that you know remember this too we'll believe half the things that they say about you if you'll believe the same things they say about us you know there's always a thing in there you just you're really not sure if you're getting the full truth of the matter so as we talk about these things i think there is a a huge place that we don't do enough talking about what can parents and and coaches do to make things better for their kid well the coach should set an example by always doing what is good parents same thing if there is a discrepancy then like my dad did one time he called the coach and talked to him and didn't let me know i had no idea was talking to him and he found out what was going on at school about something and the two of them had a very good discussion about it and got it kind of worked out to where dad understood and then he could address me on it you know and so i just think there's ways to do because it's very difficult parents get upset coaches get upset when we're dealing with kids and what's best for them it may not be see eye to eye on it yep but the thing about it is don't let the kid lose their spec for his coach at home or at the supper table it's a big big thing to me you know we started to show 25 years ago our goal was to be that two hours of building players coaches and officials up not a part of tearing them down and so many times at the dinner table or wherever it may be that families get together parents and more times than not it's the daddy and sometimes it's the mom in different sports and we're talking about all sports now we're just not talking about football or volleyball or swimming across the country you know if you've got something that you want to say to your child about their football coach you might want to or whatever coach it is you might want to think about how much is that going to affect them and their effort that they give in that chosen sport because we do we lose a lot of athletes because of what is said at the proverbial dinner table and when I say lose them they don't quit we just don't get the most that we can get out of those student athletes because there's some doubt coming from home and you know I still believe that it's the job of parents to build their children up and I see a whole lot of that because parents protect those children in every shape form or fashion that they can and so and and I think there is a majority of of parents that do that that support the positivity of what's going on in the chosen sport that they're playing but there's a minority there's there's a small percentage of people that still going to tear that coach down and say you should be playing in front of that boy or you should be playing in front of that girl and you know I don't understand why they're playing and you're not playing well go watch practice go watch them and make your own evaluation and then if you have a problem don't talk about it with the child go to the coach go to the coach that's right go to the coach and there's always a way to get through and that helps the kid right if he realizes I'm not going to get any sympathy yeah absolutely right I'll go play for my coach because my mom and dad said hey you get out there and play your fanny on right care what you know but then if the parent has a problem without the child knowing absolutely reach out to the coach absolutely nine times out of ten the coaches love the phone call and it's all and it can be a good way of getting breaking down breaking some communication problems and making sure that this child gets what he needs and the parents understand what's going on at this point we'll make more let me say this before we go we lost a wonderful young lady this week we lost maddie petite and young volleyball coach at uh holy middle school leon and her mom we we send all of our sympathy out to them at this time just to one for young lady remember this no matter what you do no matter where you go he is always with you god bless you see you here same place same time next next Saturday
