And it's time for the FM Talk 106 5 fishing report brought to you by our friends at McCoy outdoor company and McConnell Buick GMC and man, you know, all week long I look at this man social media as I'm sitting under the fluorescent lights in the studio and I'm watching what he's doing out there in the sunshine for 18 fishing adventures, my buddy, Captain Bobby, ever Scott, Oh, good morning. Good morning, my friend, how are you? I'm good, and man, keep that so I mean, I'll complain about it a little bit, but I do love it. I mean, people follow your social media and get to see, you know, individual pictures or like you put out those. Montages like a week's worth of fish and man. It's, it gets me through my day, man. Thank you. Well, I appreciate it. I'm glad people enjoy that. I fortunately have some some people that are way more talented to putting that stuff together. I just take the pictures. I was told, just take fish, take the pictures and send the content. We'll take care of the rest. So, but I will pass that along if they didn't hear that. Yeah, that's a lot of fun. It's good stuff. And part of that is, you know, something we like to talk about in the, in the spring and in the fall. Is that topwater fishing? Not in August, but you've been, you've been catching fish on topwater in August. Yeah, that's, it's really, it's really off pattern. I, like we talked about before we went on the air, you know, I can't remember the last time we did a report when we talking about, you know, not just a trip and multiple trips that kind of just started with, with our buddy Jim and kind of developed it from there. But, you know, what's incredible about it is not catching, we're not just catching them right at daybreak. We finished up the other day at like 10 o'clock in the morning and we had a short trip and I was putting stuff up and the fellow with me was still catching them at 10 o'clock in the morning and a foot and a half of water with a bright sky. Not that's not supposed to, that's not in the books, Bobby. That's not if you read the books. Those fish didn't read the manual. It's not just trout. We're catching a lot of red fish mixed in with them. So it's, it's truly been a lot of fun because as you, well, you know, we talked about, I think even last week, this is kind of live bait season between live shrimp and certainly live croakers. So it's not something that we do all the time. And, you know, maybe it's something we started looking into. But I think one of the keys is getting around, you know, some areas where you've got mullet on the surface. And I think that's probably helping with the thing because, of course, you know, when you got a surface plug that imitates a mullet, it's looking like one of those, you know, there that's separated from the school. And I think that's probably been the big thing that I've been key in all with it. It's usually, I'm not too too too worried about, you know, finding mullet. It's nice to see them. Don't get me wrong. It's nice to see them, but they're not always like an automatic deal. But I think what I've noticed is when we're getting around them, that's when we're really getting into them. But what's again, what's getting me is it doesn't surprise me if we were catching them from day like till seven in the morning or maybe eight on a cloudy day. But this is well into the morning and it's been more than just one trip. So, you know, that's been the key. I think, you know, just going to your back to your basics on top water fishing. I like to use a big, where I'm using a big 120 millimeter J Walker from Berkeley, which is just a walk to dog type of bait, your skitter walks or those type of bait to find. But, you know, make sure you're tying a loop knot with them and make sure you play around with your presentation in terms of the cadence you're using when you're walking the lure. You know, try it fast for a few casts and then maybe midway, always trying to work in a little bit of a pause and just pay attention to what happened when you're getting bit. What you were doing, if you can remember that and just repeat it, because it's amazing from one spot or one area to the next, just by changing those little things up, you can start, you know, really start, you know, stimulating those bites just by changing the way you're presenting the lure. And you can stand next to somebody like I was doing the other day next to Jim. His top water sounds like a machine gun coming across the water. And I'm more of like a medium pace guys, but, you know, some of the places he was wrecking them and then I started catching them. So it's just really kind of goes to show that you pay attention with that. And again, I want you to back talk about that loop knot just for a second. If you've got a split ring on your lure, you don't have to put a loop knot on it. But I'd highly recommend anything that doesn't have a split ring on it to learn how to tie a small loop knot on it. And it's amazing how much easier it makes it to work that lure. Yeah, you want to do that. Listen, there are a lot of lures to use that on. We'll talk about that going forward out there. People want to get a trip booked with you, Bobby. I mean, whether it's catching a fish at nine o'clock in the morning on the top water or even getting ready for dare I say fall fishing, how do they get a trip booked? Just go to 18fishing.com. It's got some information on a summertime special that we're running that goes all the way through the end of September. So you've still got a month to get in on that, but just go to 18fishing and you can either call us the numbers on there or you can choose the form that you fill out there and email it to us and let us suggest the dates or the times if you don't have something specific in mind. Captain Bobby, we appreciate it. We'll do it again next week. All right, my friend. Sounds good. Have a great weekend. You too, Captain Bobby Everscato and the FM Talk 1065 Fishing Report. report.
