I love sweet I love putting them together and you know going through the site and having been to the store so many times I know you are the perfect destination for these flavor combinations, but um Yeah, it's like you've got honey. You've got salsas. You've got sweet medjul dates, but then you've got jalapeno pepper items in there So, um, we've got some great recipes too that are listed and linked in the episode notes. So check that out, but um Even fudge. I know you get ready when you open the peanut patch people come And you let people have free fudge tastings. Am I right on that? That is correct and you know, we're talking about spicy one of the most popular ones is the chocolate jalapeno caramel Um a little sweet a little spice together and it's so good So we don't have that right when we open but You know, so it's something to look forward to. Yeah, everyone look forward to it. Get get ready to go to the peanut patch October 1st. Um, speaking of that how many fudge varieties do you actually have? Um, I kind of lost count, but I think we're over 200 different flavors Now we don't make them all at once. You know, we we rotate things across our counter, but yeah It's it's unreal Do you have anything for halloween like october coming up? I bet you guys do you get some fun? Get fun with that. Yeah, hope you like orange orange chocolate or orange, you know, the cream sickle both of those are Usually pretty popular at that time of the year. Mm. So now it's a ball thing That's cool. I mean, it is, you know, septembert's fall season That's what I love time about sweet and spicy because I think fall is very much like that You know, we have the spices. I mean cinnamon has you know cinnamon has a little kick to it Yet, you know, we tend to put it with you know apple pie and things like that and oh my gosh That brings me to your preserves. Oh my gosh. So when we think about sweet and spicy Um, if you go to the peanut patch dot com everyone that you check out their preserves items and relishes You've got pumpkin butter. You've got blueberry preserves. Um, you've got blackberry preserves apple butter blackberry preserves as I said that blueberry apple butter cherry preserves So like everything you need for even your fall baking right peach preserves Peach butter strawberry preserves old-fashioned spiced peaches Okay, yes, that's a newer item for us and they are awesome Mm. Yeah, so do you get to taste everything before you stock it in the store? Mm Not everything but I try to I try to pick a few items, especially with something new And taste it so I know how to promote it for the customer to let them know And and then you do you order things that you go? This really sounds good. I want some and then make it a double Yeah, yeah, there you go The joys of having uh, you know a wonderful store full of gourmet goodies and peanuts and You know all the amazing foods that you have and and that's the other thing when I think about fall I always think about I think nuts go with the fall. Do you have any? You know like peanuts and or nuts and and snacks that have that kind of Because nuts have like a sweet kind of earthy You know taste right But then when you have some spice onto them. That is like the perfect snack Do you have anything we have? We do we have jalapeno peanuts. We have chili peanuts. We have chili lemon peanut We have chili pistachios too and Um, they're great and we in our pistachios. We can get them in garlic flavor too Um corn nuts we have regular corn nuts and we have a spicy corn nut Really really good Do you have honey roasted with spice too or is there you honey roasted that that's peanuts, right? I just have the honey roasted. Yeah, not we don't have that one in a spice But I bet that would be awesome We'll just dip it in some to make it hotter. It would be good. There you go Well, I want to go back to the medjul dates, right? I love medjul dates and you know, people are getting together for fall gatherings already being planned and Yuma events start to happen. This is the season september october comes There's so much to do. So um, I know we'll be talking about that on next month's podcast About all the great events, but there is so much, you know fall and winter I mean yuma is rocking. There's so much to do, you know in the in the fall season in winter It's there's yeah, and our weather's so everyday so accommodating, you know Even in september, it's you know starting to cool off at night. So can enjoy a walk by the by the river down by the park Mmm enjoy a little bit of yuma stuff and have some have barbecue outside get the grill on Yes, and so for that you have like even some of the preserves could be used to marinade meat um, oh, yeah And then you've got saulses for that too. You've got saulses. You've got barbecue sauce. That's sweet and spicy That's good. I did Oh, I do. Um, um, these these these podcasts with you It was i'm getting hungry again. Yeah, you know Talk about all this good food, you know, it makes me want to go out there and try four or five things, you know Yeah, you brought it up dates and september is really when they're starting to really heavily harvest them and Our day crop is looking wonderful. I think we're going to have one of the best crops this year Um, they just the trees are loaded And I see them working on them, you know, it's time to pull get them off the trees and get them processed And into our mouths Ready to eat Yeah You know the dates Um, there's because of their texture and they are like little vessels to stuff Yummies into right and so I know a lot of people do peanut better cream cheese, but cream cheese and peppers Um, but jalapenos. I mean come on those, you know, I there's nothing like Majoral dates because there was nice big ones, right? Stuff them with jalapeno, you could put cheese in there if you wanted I suppose cream cheese And then you wrap them with bacon and then you grill them. I'm just saying oh, yeah Oh, yes. Oh blue cheese would be delicacy. Yeah. Oh, I hadn't found cheese That would be awesome jalapenos and bacon or prosciutto You know, um, there you go. Okay, great tree whatever You have if you have to I mean whatever you have but peppers and dates It is amazing and you can take like beautiful bell peppers Stuff cream cheese in there and put a bell pepper And if you're like me, I'd put peanut butter and the pickle because you know, like I said on the rational Peanut butter and pickle sandwiches are one of my favorite things in the world But I was also looking you know that and we should have talked about this on the sandwich So I'm going to make up for it. You have Bread cornbread and bread beer bread Packages like from desert gardens. You've got desert garden green chili cornbread that you can make and jalapeno beer bread Do we need to have a bread making machine for this? Oh jeez, I don't believe so. I think it's just make it in the oven Yeah, I am looking at it actually no, I think this is good Oh green chili cornbread because the corn does give you that sweetness And then yeah, you could take one of those you have those uh relishes that you could use right and put on there. Oh, yeah You know what we have a uh like a jalapeno relish too. That would be really good I remember someone giving me some jalapeno. Maybe it was from you. Maybe it was maybe I got it from you Uh-huh and I was like, hmm. I don't know. I don't know and then it ran out You know because once I tried it, I was like, well, everybody moved over It's mine. Yeah And then it ran out and then I was like, well, this this is sad Because it's really good with the right cheese and the right bread You know, yeah, um just to put that relish on there Um, you can put it on other things too. You know, you can put it with meat Um on a sandwich. Okay I'm hungry again Remind me to eat like a full meal like a big meal like I should go out somewhere and get like a massive meal before I talk to you donna I don't know But it's also the jellies right cactus apple jelly jalapeno jelly Okay, you got all kinds of and then isn't don't you have something that's local Yes, we have a local, um person who makes jellies here in yuma area and she has the Hot jellies which are her best seller is her raspberry habanero. Oh, oh my gosh. I was looking at okay I want this one though. It's the mango habanero that mango also a very good Good, um item and she makes them with jalapenos too Oh, oh, and then the pomegranate habanero. Oh That sounds good You know, oh put up her bagels crackers Okay, this is dangerous all of that sweet and spicy So and then we've also got we've got to talk about honey. You've got local honey is right or just like regional honey. Yes Oh, it's local. Oh, it's local the honey Yeah, the the best part about the honey is that it has the natural pollens in it. So Um, a lot of doctors will recommend that if they have a a child that's having allergies That they try the honey the local honey and so we sell out a lot to uh young mothers who need to help their kids Uh get used to the pollens Mm. It works Makes sense because raw citrus honey Um, yeah, because you've got a lot of citrus that grows in yuma too. You know, that's the other thing I mean, let us salad when when does the growing season actually start when it because I know you're the largest winter crop But don't you start in the fall? It there's always something growing like dates and things but I'm gonna say we're growing stuff. Yeah all the time, but um Let us we'll start late august Okay Okay. All right. Hey, and then it's good. It runs probably through april Hey Everyone gets to learn more about, you know agriculture and yuma and that's the one thing I know Um, it is september, but in january Uh, that's when donna starts up for tours at the peanut patch Um, they are every Tuesday and friday at 10 a.m. January february and march we can go she takes you into the barn teaches you all about peanuts and Agriculture of peanuts agriculture of yuma and then you get to go in the back of the store We all love going in the back and then you see how peanut brittle is made Okay, and this is like it's spread out on this jar giant marble slab and you do want to stick your hands in it But she's always reminding us not to touch it because that will hurt But um, the peanut brittle. I think that's got to be one of the most popular items in the store Right is the peanut brittle that you guys make It is our number one item. It is To die for and lisa don't forget we make helipinial peanut brittle as well. So there's your spice and sweet Oh, I love it. I love that. Oh, and you also do sesame seed brittle I know that part. Oh yummy Oh, that is really good. Oh, but the helipinial brittle See all right, sweet and spicy. This was a good topic today. We did good. We're getting this. Yeah, you know, it's um And then, you know, we're talking about sweet. You've got all kinds of candies. You've got Astolgic candies. You've got my favorite licorice jelly bellies Cinnamon materials Ah There's some if I can find them. They're getting hard to find But we love them. Oh, man. We want that hot in our mouth. Yeah Yeah, and you know what a lot of people cook with those too Oh really? Huh. Yeah, I know that. Yeah, why not? Why not? I'm just looking. I'm stuck in I Oh, wow. I am stuck in your candy department on your website Everyone go to the candy department. Don't don't don't yeah. You got to do this. You got jelly bellies jelly bellies Oh my gosh cinnamon jelly belly beans So if you want a little heat there, you know, the jelly. Oh, you got a fruit bowl. Oh, yeah, oh The licorice bridge mix. Okay. Now. I'm in. I'm in. Okay. Oh I want that. Yeah, I want I want okay. This is definitely a dangerous out of the licorice leaf No, but but then but then in the candies for those who need sugar-free you do have that And we're talking about sweet and spicy, but you do have sugar-free candy and I think that's fantastic Um for folks who really what their sweetness, you know here There's something for you and you've got chocolate sugar-free milk chocolate peanuts and okay This is such a dangerous show. I'm just saying this is seriously dangerous. Um I think we covered a good good amount here and you got granola and dried fruit. Oh, yeah, that's another thing and dried fruit. Yep. Ooh Yeah Chill chilli mango Chilli mango. Oh, yes. I don't know why I think of that Oh my gosh Oh, you can show thing on your website. I think those are great. I know the chili pineapple chili mango. Oh, yeah You know chop it up little Throw it in there with and make sure you have out the cuddles, too Oh always little cheese little, you know, the good letters Oh, I like that. I like that. I know we have some great recipes That you've put on our site over the years and one of them. We have a um We were talking about it last time, but even the rugula and the ready redecio A salad with feta and dates that would go really well, but you've got a spinner style pasta casserole Um, which would be good if you're going, you know nice for a fall Um, you got red bell peppers garlic White wine in there if you want some roasted peanuts and so that's kind of it's a lighter side of the of the spicy But it's got a little zest to it, right? The pita pita pockets with chinese chicken peanut sauce is good and also the stir fry Um that that recipe would be really good if you want that sweet and spicy Combination because that's got bell peppers again garlic tamari Um cilantro hot sauce. Yeah white pepper. Yeah. Yeah, it's got it. It's good and oh, yeah You know So good Good recipe and now i'm hungry.
