[music] Good evening. I have a very au-faire of you to come to our little expiré this evening. Ladies and gentlemen, please stand by for Cookie on the Big L. But my hair is still in curve. [laughing] Here we go. Oh, the usual cocktail joint. Big L. [music] At 0700 hours tomorrow morning, my shutdown disk will be activated, and all mental and physical operations will cease. Then what? I don't know, maybe I'll get a job as a disk jockey. [laughing] And now, here he is. It's Cookie! Oh no! Music! Oh yes, it is. A very good evening to you and a very warm welcome-long to another Thursday evening soiree with me, Cookie, taking you through to the Beatles Hour at 9 p.m. UK time. Stand by for two hours of wonderful music and a fair bit of mayhem into the bargain, and our thanks to Gary for the last three hours. [music] We have enough energy to play the piano for us, sing along a bit later, and I've got to see me back for another quick one between 6 and 7 tomorrow evening. [music] Starting out in our Fab 500, taking you back to 1965 with the animals. [music] It's a hard world to get a break in. All the good things have been taken, but good they are raised to make certain things pay. Though I'm dressed in these reds, I will save 'em some day. And here what I see, I'm on a ride to the server. No more time to spend, sweat and sweat, in my brain. I'm ridiculous, and you know you's calling me down. Just think around, but baby, baby, remember, remember, it's my life, and I do what I want. It's my mind, I think what I want. Show me I'm wrong, hurt me sometimes, but someday I'll dream to revive. [music] They'll be wearin' me in the fortunes. They'll just walk to me, or they'll offer me sick. Or you're gonna cry, but I'm squeezing me right. Taking all I can get, no regrets. When I open your eyes, I live on their money. Believe me, honey, that money, can you believe? I ain't no safe for complaints. So girl, wow, can you now? And baby, baby, remember, remember, it's my life, and I do what I want. It's my mind, I think what I want. Show me I'm wrong, hurt me sometimes, but someday I'll dream to revive. It's my life, and I do what I want. It's my mind, I think what I want. It's my life, and I do what I want. It's my mind, I think what I want. Show me it's my life, and I do what I want. You get a positive charge out of... Big girl. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Hey, life, look at me, I can see the real time. But then you shook me, took me out of my world. I walk up, suddenly I just walk up, till I have a name. When you find that you love the beautiful heart, 'cause when you've got it till I love it, don't take care of it. Then you better be aware of it. It's the half of me. One day you're up, and every day you're up, we turn around, and you turn around. You find your world, and you're up, and you come look down. It happened to me, and it can happen to you. I was yours, I fell in love, until I've got the beautiful heart. Yeah, I'm right on top of the world, in half, and... Suddenly it was happened, I saw my dream. So that part of you will not walk away on my heart, and when you lose the trust, there's a love in me to guide you. Something happens inside of you, the half of the day. Now I see life, I see life, I'm what it is, what it is, my dream, it's not all good. It's not all good, it's not all good. It happened to me, and it can happen to you. It didn't happen to you, it didn't happen to you. It didn't happen to you, it didn't happen to you. It didn't happen to you, it didn't happen to you. It didn't happen to you, it didn't happen to you. It didn't happen to you, it didn't happen. It didn't happen to you, it didn't happen to you. Two corkas from our 500 to get our sons away. This evening, starting out with the animals, it's my life and dinosaurs and the Supremes and they're happening. Well, what's happening right now is the Thursday evening swari. Before I do another thing, I just apologize. If you were tuned in, listening in yesterday afternoon, from my afternoon show, as I did say on Tuesday afternoon, I wouldn't be able to do it live, but it should have been my cardboard cutout. But we did have some problems at HQ, so unfortunately it didn't go out. It was one of the number of problems we had yesterday afternoon, so it was just one of those days. Anyway, we're here now, live and lively for the next couple of hours. What else have we got on the menu to tempt you with this evening? We've got a long song from Meat Loaf. We're allowing some twosome to bring a smile to your face a little bit later on this hour. We'll take you for a ride with our hour too open if we'll find out what that's all about very soon. And for part of our tour, we're taking you back to this very week, 1968 for our 5 from 10 chart recall. Last, of course, we've got a do-wop track. We've got your emails and requests. Quite a lot of bits and pieces going on the stack already. And of course, it wouldn't be Thursday without a sing-along, would it? That is for sure. So, I hope you're in good voice this evening. And a very good evening to Jon in Lance. As we are Mike in Hitch and to Rick and Toronto for Maureen in Essex. How did in Loudon, Jon in Chorley? Anita in Epsom. Patricia in Munich already checking in, so good stuff. We'll have a look and see what we're going to play and who we're going to play it for very soon indeed in the meantime. Let's take you back to, I think this was the late 70s. I wonder for the Boys Town game. Big L, it's a blast. And a very good evening to Howard as well, if I didn't, did I mention Howard? He's been done now anyway. And Serger and Boy over there in Zell's Act. You're just too, too, to be true. Can't take my eyes off of you. Oh, I want to hold you so much. And don't let go as you ride. And I think God will lie. You're just too good to be true. I can't take my eyes off of you. Part in the way that I say. There's nothing else to compare. But part of you leaves me weak. There are no words left to see. But if you feel like I see. Well, didn't let me know that it's real. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off of you. I love you baby. And if it's quite a word, I need your baby. You're warm and lonely tonight. I love your baby. Trust in me when I say. Oh baby, baby. Don't bring me down in the way. I'll bring me down in the way. Now, there are no words left to see. I love you baby. Let me love you. You're just too, too, to be true. Can't take my eyes off of you. Oh, I want to hug you so much. And long left, love, love, love, love. And I'll take part of life. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off of you. I love you baby. And if it's quite a word, I need your baby. You're warm and lonely tonight. I love your baby. Trust in me when I say. Oh baby, baby. Don't bring me down in the way. I'll bring you down in the way. Now, there are no words left to see. I'll bring you down in the way. Trust in me when I say. I love you baby. Oh, the boy's town gang. Can't take my eyes off of you. Right, let's see who's in for a request this evening. First in this evening, we're the Sabron and Nori in St Albans, who say, "Greetings, cookie and all." We have been given a project for this Saturday, which involves spending a lot of somebody else's money. Nori's brother to acquire tickets for an Oasis concert next summer. We can imagine a three-figure sum will be involved. I can't imagine why, to be honest, which compared to the ticket price, I see a certain Mr. Noon. In Las Vegas next month will be around 50 pounds a ticket. Almost a bargain. Yes, I'd agree with you there. For our music choice, can you please play Smile, please, or Sunshine Girl by one, by the one selling the cheaper tickets? I can indeed. The first of those coming up very soon, indeed. Let me see who else is through. Look into Ronto, says, "You're back in your home studio. Yeah, I am back." Thank goodness. If possible, can you hopefully find the instrumental? I gave you the other day the homecoming by, "Hey, good, Hardy." Yes, I can. It was a bit relaxing and a bit laid back for Thursday evening, but a good track nonetheless. So, yeah, we'll do that for you. Lots of good piano playing in it, so you can jokingly refer to the warming up on the piano for the sing-along. Yes, how Gary will be at it a bit later on. Okay, that's on the stack for you, no trouble at all. Let me see. Now, I don't believe this. Because Lorna and Keswick said, "Can I request Let the River Run by Carly Simon?" Yes, you can. Brilliant track. That's on the stack for you. And she says, "I was going to suggest a going to request. She works hard for the money. I prefer Carly." Okay, so, yeah, we can do that for you. No trouble at all. But... Patricia, in Unix, just comes through. I can't believe this. And she says, "Any chance of playing? She works hard for the money by Donna Summer." In case you don't have that track, you could also play, say, "Say you'll stay until tomorrow" by Tom Jones. Oh, I haven't looked for that one. I'll look for that in just a sec, but I have looked for Donna Summer. I can't believe it. I haven't got that one. So, yeah, let's be here here. And I can't believe I've not got that on the system. So, yeah, sorry about that. I'll have a look for the Tom Jones track for you in just a second. Big David Nottingham. Very good evening. He says, "I'll go for option two, please." Oh, he's jumping the gun a bit there. Will he keep that choice? I wonder when we reveal our two options. Who else is through with a request? Some Elvis Polk Saladani for Resurger. In Zell's app, Robbie Robertson's somewhere down the crazy river for John in Larn. Anita in essence says, "Please, can you play the Seekers some day, one day? I can, indeed." So, let's get on with the first of those right now. Herman Termit's fame for Brian and Norrie in instant organs. The fastest thing in the air, big L. Smile, please. Get yourself together and smile, please. Things are getting better all the time. Make it look as though you're mine. Here we are together in this groovy and well of our own. We're sitting in this cubicle, it's beautiful to get you alone. People will be wondering what I'm doing in here with you. So, we better put our money in and take a photograph or two. So, won't you smile, please. Get yourself together and smile, please. Things are getting better all the time. Make it look as though you're mine. Come on and smile, please. It only takes a minute to smile, please. Put some love and edit for me. You gotta let the whole world see. The loving way you look at me. Don't be quite so negative, I'm positive, they'll turn out fine. The scene will soon develop if we stay in there a little time. So, won't you smile, please. Get yourself together and smile, please. Things are getting better all the time. Make it look as though you're mine. Come on and smile, please. It only takes a minute to smile, please. Put some love and edit for me. You gotta let the whole world see. The loving way you look at me. So, won't you smile, please. Get yourself together and smile, please. Things are getting better all the time. Home and term. It's for Brian and Norrie, Instant Allburns. And smile, please. That's one you don't hear today. Nice little track, then. And good news for Patricia in Munich. We've got the Tom Jones track for you, so that's on the stack. And, yeah, they won't be another Tom Jones track a little bit later on in the show as well. So, yeah, lots to get through this evening. Hey, good hardy for Rick Interonto in just a few moments time. First of all, let's give you our two choices for our hour to open up this evening. We've got a choice of rides this evening. Which of these would you like to hear opening up our two of the show? Option one being Vanity Fair. A thumb goes up. A car goes by. It's nearly one man when he ran by. It's going to ride. It's going to ride. You've got to get me home. By the morning light. It's your option one this evening. Would you like to hear that opening up our two of the show? Oh, would you like to go with? A bit of Mitch Ryder and the Detroit wheels. Jenny, take a ride. Is your option two this evening? Would you like to hear that opening up our two of the show? As always, collectively, your choice as to which of these two opens up our two of the show. So, you know what to do? Drop me an email. Give me a call to cookie@bigelradio.co.uk or studio@bigelradio.co.uk on the phones and leave your vote on 012588113. That's 012588113. Or text your vote in via the Big L smartphone app. So, Dave, do you want to change your mind? No, you've heard the two options. Is it going to be option one? Vanity Fair? Hitch and a ride? Or option two? Mitch Ryder and the Detroit wheels. Jenny, take a ride. The choice, collectively, is yours. I won't be back at all. Back with a good hearty in just a few moments' time right after these. Big L. The station with the happy dear friends. Whenever news breaks, FSN is there. We're in Denzilow, New York. That's good. And a very good evening to John in Derbyshire. And he says, evening cookie could I request Sarah by Starship? Yes, you can. That's on the stack for you, no trouble at all. Another voicemail just popped in there. So I'll have a listen to that in a moment. And yeah, looks like we might have the Donna Summer track as well. So, yes. [MUSIC PLAYING] I didn't have earlier. Anyway, it's all happening. It's all happening this evening here on the Thursday Evening Swire 8. As per usual, time for our long song this week. And Sarah inspired this one because this was in a list of possibilities that he left with. And I thought, yeah, I've not played this one in a long, long time. So-- [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] I thought, should we be playing this before the war to shed? I don't know. [LAUGHS] I'm sure we'll get away with it. with it. Meatloaf Paradise by the Dashboard Lite. 8 minutes, 19 seconds worth.
