[MUSIC PLAYING] Boom, the boys are back and it is time for the end of the week, the Friday whip around episode. What a week it was. It was the first true week of all season with the typical Monday through Friday schedule. You know, we reviewed the game on Monday, had our Q&A on Tuesday, previewed to Lane on Wednesday and had an absolutely amazing Thursday whip around episode. If you didn't listen to our conversation with Gene Taylor, you missed out. Not only does he always give great information, but a couple great stories, especially if you can put yourself back in the shoes you were in. Back during the final four with all the Jerome Tank to Arkansas drama going on. Some absolutely amazing stories in hindsight for that. Some great information in how they're looking at the future of college athletics and some very funny moments from Gene as always. So again, a thank you to the award winning athletics director and future Hall of Famer, Gene Taylor for that one. Have a great set of guests for the primers here. This will be a whip around show. You're not hearing anything from me after we set the table for all that. We do have a little bit of a few takeaways from Connor Rylin, Joe Clanderman's press availability from earlier today. Nothing too crazy, but definitely want to touch on that. And then we'll get into it. Again, we have have a great lineup. Before we get into the takeaways from the coordinator, press availability will give a little shout out. Well, we'll give it a big shout out to Manhattan Brewing Company. Folks, not only do they have the best brewery in the state of Kansas, not only are they distributed all throughout the state, but they do have their Manhattan Brewing Company Lounge right down there in Wichita, both the Wichita Lounge and the brewery in Manhattan will be open for the game on Saturday. So if you need a spot to watch it and you live in Manhattan or Wichita, make sure you're going to Manhattan Brewing Company or the NBC Lounge so you can have the best tasting beer in the entire state. If you're like me, you don't live in either of those locations. Make sure you're talking to your local store so they have four packs of Manhattan Brewing Company beer right there for you. I know I have a little bit of Wabash, a little bit of Towney. I have some Fowler that I'll be drinking on Saturday, probably post-game. You know, I'm not as young as I once was, probably won't be drinking right at 11am. But I'll have a couple Manhattan Brewing Company beers myself post-game, hopefully, hopefully celebrating a K-State victory. You should do the same. All right, we'll get into Connor Riley. He said something that wasn't surprising because I think it could have gone for the entire offense. He was asked specifically about the offensive line, but as we've talked about, you know, I think it goes for all of them. But he said that the game started a little tight for the offensive line, said that they went in with the mentality in that first drive, like, all right, let's not lose anything, instead of, hey, let's assert ourselves, let's go win. Again, that's something that you cannot make a habit. You cannot make that a habit really for the rest of the year. You play with your food too much. Any team from here on out, except for maybe Houston, could probably get you. So I'm hoping they got that other system. They're going to have to be ready to roll from snap one tomorrow. He was pleased that there were no penalties or no operational errors for the entire offense. There's one instance where there might have been a little bit of a wires crossed with one player thought he was part of that personnel package. He got back off the field, no need for a timeout, no delay of game. A lot of praise for the discipline that the entire offense played with on Saturday. He said, hey, and everyone also knows that they can play better. You can look at the stats and say, hey, we didn't give up that many pressures. Hey, we did this. We did that. But everyone in the offense knows that they can do better again. I don't think that's anything that I'm surprised to hear, but it is good to hear them really pound that away. Because I think we all were left a little bit wanting with the offense on Saturday. A lot of praise for the Tulane defensive line. Talked about how they're a veteran group. They're not going to make any mistakes. They know they're fits. They're going to play assignment sound. And again, I do think that this is where the battle is going to come down to. I was on inside the wave, which was the official collective podcast for Tulane Athletics, or at least their collective. And I was asked, you know, where's the matchup surely going to be? I think it's going to be trenches on both sides. I think both teams are going to want to run the ball. And I think there might be, it's looking like there might be a little bit of rain in the forecast. So that would slap it up even a little bit more. So I think being able to win your blocks, win your one on ones with Tulane's defensive line, get up to that second level, get a man on a backer and allow DJ, Dylan, Avery, Joe Jack, all these guys to really get out and run when given the opportunity. Asked about opportunities in the passing game. He specifically said there are a few third down opportunities that they really missed. But he did say that the mistakes were easily correctable, which I hope is the case. And then the last real takeaway, nothing, again, nothing earthshaking from Connor Riley. He keeps things pretty coach speak, but that's okay. We love Connor Riley. He was asked, who's the guy who really caught his eye? He said, easy answer DJ. A lot of praise for DJ again. I think DJ is the most slupped on guy in the conference, maybe in the country. And I think he will eventually go down as the most underrated case football player of all time. But then he also shifted a little bit and said, hey, Carver Willis, he really played his tail off really loved the way he plays. So some love for Carver Willis there as well. Joe Clanderman, you know, he brought a little bit more color. Very short for him. I think he was under under five minutes. Connor Riley was only about eight minutes. But Joe Clanderman said, hey, the stars played like stars and some of the guys who we thought might have, you know, their eyes wide open. That was the case. Said that all those guys got better as the game went on and he expects that to be the case all season long. When asked about what Toby needs to do to get a little bit more consistent to be in every down type of guy, said that he just needs to find some consistency in the game a little bit inconsistent right now. But he's going to continue to get better the more action he sees. Asa Newsom practice on Wednesday sounds like he should be a go on Saturday, Austin Moore feeling better. Hopefully that snap restriction will be lifted from him said we're going to see similar personnel groupings that they saw in Troy. But he does think that the staff at Tulane knows how we will defend the or case it will defend them better than we know exactly how they're going to be sound. I don't know. I don't think Joe Clanderman was giving a lot away. I think he was flirting with the idea of, oh yeah, you know, we saw Troy last year, but also trying to double back on that. Yeah, but we might not know. So that was kind of a funny clip from him. And then he also when asked about Mario Williams, who is probably the best wide receiver in the American said, hey, how are you going to match up with him? And they said, hey, that's what we have to figure out early because he's a fast guy. He slippery. It's going to be a tough matchup. The final thing I took away is he had a lot of praise for his defense for having elite communication, saying that UT Martin gave us some stuff that was not in the tape from last season, so they had to be good in communication. So all in all, that's why I took away from Joe Clanderman and Connor Riley. Not a ton, but you know, I like having the press availability for those coordinators on Thursday. Charlie Hussle, look, best officially licensed gear in the game. Great case it gear. Great Kansas City icon here. Some other great official licensed stuff. You guys know the deal. It's also, I think, what overnight Saturday is getting in the 40s, so you know it's crew neck weather, you know it's fleece weather. Folks, I got to pump it up. Got to pump it up. Not next Monday, but the following Monday, we are going to launch our September giveaway, and it's more than just one shirt. We have a big time giveaway, and it's going to launch on the 16th, so make sure you're following us and Charlie Hussle on social media so you can get involved. Trust me, you will thank me. Absolutely massive lineup for the whiparounds. We got folks handling all four. So we got the good chef Andre Napier from the Cocaine Willy Podcast, giving you the K-State Primer. We got Isaac Popper from Inside the Wave, giving us his Tulane Primer, excuse me, we got Alec Bussy of the 247 Network. He is the publisher of the Cyclone Sites. We have Elasco, aka Cyhawk. That game between Iowa State and Iowa is your big 12 game of the week, and we will end this with the Elite Jasmine Halliburton with the Wild Cat Roundup. That's the last thing you'll hear from on the pod. You will not hear from me again. You'll hear some musical transition. You're going to hear some ads. I'm sure in there, but that's the last you'll hear of me until Monday. So thanks for rocking with us this week. We love you, and go Cats! Boom! The boys are back, and they called on the good chef to come and do one of these whiparounds for the Bosco boys. It's me, Chef, doing my thing for the Cocaine Willy Podcast, helping out my man Scott, breaking down what we saw on Saturday and what we got ahead going on the road to New Orleans to play Tulane. That 41-6 win was a little shaky at the beginning, but that second half we warm out, the depth really showed, played out exactly how we've heard throughout the summer and the fall about how this team has depth and can play a lot of players at a lot of positions. It was a good showing. Avery is the hype real, I think, passing. We were a little bit clunky, but we did what we had to do. We ran for almost 300 yards on the ground. I mean, my goodness, we can do it. And that was not even including Avery who could have ran for easily close to 200 yards with all the lanes that he saw, but he chose to pass instead. Man, there were some players missing, though, that I was looking forward to seeing what they could do. Garrett Oakley, no catches, no targets. That's surprising, but Braden Lofton filled in for his role, and he got an end zone. That's awesome, that's depth right there. Wide receivers, basically a no-show outside of Jace. Trace Bivy showed a little bit, but you want to see more of these players come through that I expect to have big seasons in the season still young, boys. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I think the receivers can obviously prove a little bit more than what they showed on Saturday. But that's probably the most negative I can get. Everything looks solid. Running looks solid. DJ Giddens. What can we say about DJ Giddens? The boy was turned. Didn't get in the end zone, but that's what we got Dylan Edwards for. He did his thing, man. Let me tell you, Dylan Edwards is everything we wanted. Electric. Every time he touched the ball, I thought he was going to go. Caught every pass thrown his way, two for 19 in the tud. Special teams he looked solid, made no major mistakes there. Jace Brown did, but we're going to ignore that. I think they're still filling out who they want to have back there. I think it's going to end up being Sterling or Dylan Edwards. Now, the defense, that was an A plus defense. Put in weird situations, gave up maybe two big plays all game. Desmond Purnell, absolute stud. Best linebacker we've had in a long time. The boy is fast, strong. He's got instincts. He's doing everything. Toby Osensami though. Is that the biggest surprise that we've seen on Saturday? He looked like a menace out there, crashing out on every pass rushing situation. If he can do that all season, it's going to get scary for teams. They're going to have to send double teams his way, and that just frees up everybody else. But overall, that was a great team win. 41-6. I couldn't ask for anything better. Maybe a little bit more explosive on offense, but that's what we got this season for, and we're going to get more. I'm pretty sure of that. Okay. Well, let's move our eyes to Tulane. I've got some keys to V's because Tulane's coming off of 52 to nothing drumming of who? Southeast Louisiana? I'd never heard of her. We've got to have more production from the receivers because they have athletes over there in Tulane. They have them. They're going to be sticky, so we've got to get more production to help out Avery in the pass game and keep the running game going because if they're loading that box to stop DJ Giddens, we have to beat them over the head with Keegan Johnson, Dante Seifas, Jace Brown, of course, and then get those tight ends involved again. Also, stay in the fight. This is a road environment. I don't know how bad the crowd will be in terms of Tulane's showout, but there will be some K-State fans there, but we're on the road. It's going to be a test on big ESPN, noon kickoff right after college game day. We've got to show out. We cannot let the road environment get to us. Got to stay our heads in the game. Tulane, they have explosive athletes all over the field, so we cannot just expect to just run them over like we did UT Martin and have their athletes just get tired. They're going to have depth. They're going to have all of that to show out and try to beat us in their home environment because they've done, man, who was it, Ole Miss? They took them to the ropes. They've obviously beaten us in Manhattan, so we've got to put them in the dirt early, bury them quick, and just stay our heads above water if adversity strikes. I got some picks to click, Jase Brown, obviously the most explosive receiver that we had, and he showed out deep ball threat. If he could do that, he's going to put his name out there on the big media platforms to see who's the number one receiver for Kansas State and Avery Johnson. My defensive pick to click, Justice James. He was out there a lot with the ones. In nickel situations, they kicked Jacob Parrish down into the slot, and he was holding his own out there. I liked what I saw from Jordan Dunbar as well, but just as James, I think he's going to end up with the interception in this game. I like that pick. My score prediction for this game. I think it's going to be a little bit tight, but I think the spread is right. Ten and a half, give me K-State 32 to 21 on the road, moving on, staying undefeated. I like where our heads are at, boys. I like where the season is going. I'm excited, and I can't wait to watch it with you, boys, all season long. With the boss goes, boys. I love you guys. But I'm signing off of here. The chef, shout out to my boys, Bob Trolls, be fireball Matt Marchesini of the cocaine-willy podcast. We're going live on Tuesdays. We've got episodes twice a week this football season. Come subscribe. Throw some likes on the videos on YouTube. We're live on Twitter as well. Talk to us. We talk back. It's going to be a good season, boys, and I'm out of here. [music] Hello. This is Isaac Popper at IPopStats on Twitter, and I'm excited to be back on the Boss Goes Boys podcast. Thank you, Scott, for inviting me back onto the podcast. It's a true honor. I'm impressed by how many episodes and how many listeners you have on your podcast. Respect the Kansas State program, and I wish you luck the rest of the season, but after this coming Saturday. As you all know, Tulane Plains plays Kansas State, and I do media for Tulane's NIL Collective Fear the Wave as a green wife insider. To give a 15,000 foot view of the previous week game, Tulane won 52 to nothing. In John Sumrall's debut at Tulane, John Sumrall is replacing Kansas native Willie Fritz. It was a 52-0 victory, and the last time that Tulane won 52-0, or the last time Tulane had a shutout, was against Alcorn State. And why this is important is because if you are a believer of coincidences and superstitions, then I'm afraid Kansas State is out of luck this Saturday. As the last time Tulane pitched a shutout, it was a 52-0 shutout, the game before Tulane played Kansas State. This was the first opening day shutout since 1972, and got fans excited. However, the stadium still is not sold out for Yeoman's 10th anniversary, which is our stadium. I did a pre-season poll over the summer to gauge how much interest there was in anticipation in this Kansas State game. What I found from my sample, which was somewhat of a small sample, but got a good range of Tulane fans, was that Kansas State was probably the most anticipated game for the majority of fans. However, when I did first, second, and third place votes and waited them equally, Kansas State was pretty close with Memphis in terms of overall interest, and Oklahoma was close behind, which is Tulane's opponent the week after Kansas State. The last time Tulane planned Kansas State, Tulane lost the turnover battle, which was rare for the Tulane team, and in fact, they did not force a turnover, which is even more rare, Tulane threw two interceptions, which was Michael Pratt. Now, Tulane has a red shirt freshman quarterback who just took his first snaps. There had been a lot of talk about Ty Thompson, the Oregon transfer, who backed up Bo Nix, probably going to be the starter, but it was Mensa Mania that won out in full spring ball and fall camp. And now Mensa is the starter quarterback for the Tulane Green Wave after going 10 for 12 last week with the two incompletions, arguably not even being his fault, granted he did probably under throw a few different throws in the game for Southeastern Louisiana, the FCS team. The reason I bring up the turnovers is that Scott and I both think that this is going to be the key to the game. When Tulane forces a turnover in the last 23 games, when it's forced to turnover, it is 120 of them. And overall, Tulane has 24 and 5 now in its last 20 games, they want to be 25 and 5 over the last 30 in the last two plus seasons, two seasons plus the first two games of this year, and those 24 victories of 24 and 5 are the most, since the start of the 2027 season, only behind, so fourth most, only behind Georgia, Michigan, and Washington. Three college football powerhouses, and two with coaches who departed this offseason, so Tulane, if Tulane can beat Kansas State and maybe be Oklahoma, then there's a good chance that they'll move up past third, especially with Michigan playing Texas this Saturday as well, at the same time as our game. Another key for Tulane, I believe, will be the running game. Tulane had a big week in the running game, not just at the starting position with Mackay Hughes, who is American Conference Rookie of the Year last year, and on a lot of watch lists, including the running back watch list was top 10 in the nation rushing yards last year, so not just good for a freshman or for a group of five player. But it was the back up they got it done due to Barnes with a touchdown, a lot of yardage for Jamari McClure, Trey Cornist, Shoddy Clayton Johnson, I expect a lot of Shoddy Clayton Johnson in this game, somebody who really uses the open space well where Mackay Hughes is more of a bruiser. When Tulane played Kansas State in 2022, the game when Kansas State only scored in the second quarter in a 17-10 game that really got Tulane's season turned around, they were coming off a two-in-ten season, had big wins over UMass and Alcoran, but that's UMass, and an FCS team, and so Kansas State was huge, and then they ended up going 12-in-two with a combo victory over at the time, top 10 USC with the Heisman quarterback and Kale Williams, as well as wide receiver Mario Williams. Mario Williams transferred to Tulane this off season, and that's my player to watch on offense. He had over 100 yards receiving last game, and is an electric player as long as he keeps the ball in his hands. On the defensive end, I'm watching Patrick Jenkins, a lot of teams double team Patrick Jenkins last year, especially, but this year, with the addition of transfer from ULM, University of Louisiana, Monroe, Aiden Huntington on the end, as well as Terrell Allen, the FCS transfer, who led FCS in sacks per game, and it was not even close at 1.32, the next with about 1.3. It was about 1.04 sacks per game, so I now wonder if Kansas State is going to double team Patrick Jenkins. This is the first FBS team for Tulane under John Summerall, and the first FBS team with Aiden Huntington and Terrell Allen, so I'm curious to see what Kansas State ends up doing. In terms of injuries, Aiden Huntington was a player who was battling injuries for a lot of fall camp, but he returned the week end before the game and played in the season opener. Shah's Preston is still banged up, though. Kill of Ransaw was dinged in the last game and was taken over for precautionary reasons, but he's okay that somebody who's playing the spear position was our anchor position last year, that fifth, third corner back, third safety, however you want to describe it. So not the exact position that Wildcat transfer Lance Robinson played a little bit different. Then Vinny Murphy, our center, transferred from Western Kentucky, and Rashad Green, our right tackle, both stepped out at certain times in the second half against Southeastern, but I always told those for precautionary reasons and that they're okay. So Caleb Thomas, I wouldn't expect Caleb Thomas and Darien Reed to start or play much in their shoes. I think that Tulane's biggest weakness for Kansas State to exploit is probably the kicking game. There's two freshmen, two true freshmen that are taking kickoffs. Last game, it was only one Ethan Head who had over 500 heart and kick off yardage, but we could see Patrick Durk in another freshman as well. Jacob Barnes is their transfer kicker, a lefty, who will be taking kicks. And I'm just not quite sure how much range he has, and he did miss a few extra points at Louisiana Tech, although I think he's cleaned that up coming in for his fifth year, a graduate COVID year, if you will. So look for Kansas State to exploit Tulane in the kicking game and also in short yardage passing situations. That's how Southeastern had momentum in the beginning of the game, taking advantage of Tulane having Jesus Machado, the linebacker, out for a long period of time. And no more Jared Small and no more Corey Platt who transferred over to Houston with Willie Fritz and then proceeded to get hurt, so he's not going to play this season. But with those guys gone, I do think linebacker is a strong, a position of strength for Tulane. However, it's an inexperienced position with Dixon Ague, a second year player, getting a lot of time. My score prediction, if I have to make one, which I don't like to do, would be 25, 24, Tulane, I think no matter what, it's going to be a close game. I disagree with Scott, who says that Kansas State is going to pull away at the end and go up two possessions. I just don't think that's the case. I think that it'll be a similar game to the last time where both teams grinded out and turnovers will be important in a somewhat low scoring close game. We'll see if the rain impacts that the National Weather Service currently projects a 30% chance of precipitation during the game, but other sites believe that there is a higher chance of rain for this game. And it's rained in the last two Tulane Home Games, the Conference Championship last season, as well as our season opener last Thursday. So thank you so much to Scott for having me on the podcast, I really appreciate it, and I enjoyed having you on our podcast inside the wave earlier today. So good luck to Kansas State, the rest of the season, just after Saturday, and you can find me on Twitter @ipopsdads if you wanted to be anything or chat about analytics. Thank you so much, and roll wave. I would say football travels to Iowa on Saturday, four biggest hands, and then they 12 and week two, of course, just across the week 12, there's more interest, at least on paper this week with four or five match ups, which means our conference teams. But this match up at Kinix Stadium is, of course, one of the more historic robberies I think you could probably say in the Midwest, of course Iowa State, Iowa has been played for, I think, over 100 years at this point. Iowa has an all-time advantage in the series, and even since Matt Campbell was hired prior to the 2016 season, Iowa State's kind of struggled in this series. The games have been mostly close for the last eight, nine years, but yeah, I mean, I was one, all but one of them, Matt Campbell's own win in this series is a 2022 game, which ironically was at Kinix Stadium, so that kind of gives Matt Campbell the rest of his team. There's some confidence heading into Saturday's game against the top 25 opponent. Iowa looked really good, and week one, too, especially on the offensive side and the second half, so that raises some confidence, at least for Hawkeye fans, that historically bad offense of 2022 and 2023 could be improved, but it's also worth noting that Iowa only scored six points, I think, in the first half, and they had, I think, 34 in the second half, quarterback Kate McNamara returns. He looked more healthy on Saturday than he probably has since the year that he led Michigan to a big 10 championship in 2021. He had a really good second half, of course. He's going to have a deep rotation of running back with Mark Bolton, Caleb Johnson, Lachon Williams, and Jason Patterson are all four backs capable of carrying the offensive running game for the Hawkeyes, and up front, I think that's where Iowa's offense really feels like they've improved, as well as receiving a blue cliche back in the tight end room after a broken leg end of this season. Sure, a year ago, Reese Van Der Zee had a really strong debut game for Iowa, and week one had a couple touchdown receptions as a true freshman in his debut. So that's obviously something that I think Iowa has some reason to be confident about heading into week two, and then on the defensive side, I think that's where it all starts for Iowa, right? They've got headliners at various positions on the defensive line, Deontane Craig. We have also got Jeremiah Pittman as a rotational guy behind the Ayyap Black, which is probably one of the better defensive linemen in the big 10 this year. And then a linebacker, you've got Sebastian Castro and Jay Higgins. Higgins, obviously, middle American, so he's someone in the middle who's really talented. And then in the second area, you've got star state P Xavier Warmka, one more five star. On the Iowa State side, this game obviously means time. It's an in-state rivalry opportunity for the cyclone to go on the road in Notch, a marquee top 25 road victory, and then, of course, it's over an opponent that I think cyclone fans will defeat more than anyone. That includes Kansas State, KU, other regional rivalries that the cyclones play over here in the big 12. But I was an in-state game, and I think it's a game that they struggled to win historically, but when they have, it's usually yielded good seasons outside of that 2022 season when they went over to Iowa City and they won, and then they ended up struggling, special teams errors. Throughout that 2022 season led to the cyclone's missing a bowl game. But on paper, this should be a pretty close game. The Hawkeyes are up to an half point favorite entering Saturday's game at Kennek. But on paper, it's also worth noting that Iowa State is battling just a laundry list of injuries at various positions. They saw a few key players hiding in dress for the week one game against North Dakota in that 21-3 victory for the cyclones. And then you also saw some important players like linebacker Caleb Bacon leave the game on a John Kerry Gator before halftime with an apparent left leg injury. On the offensive line, Jim Travis didn't play, didn't dress. That's concerning. Right tackle, Tyler Miller banged up, played about 50% of the staff for the cyclone offensive line. You need him to be healthy. You want both of those guys to be healthy. Are they either able to play a full share? If not, is James Neil capable of blocking on the left side or really talented Hawkeye defensive line? At right tackle, who do they kind of rotate in more often with Miller? If he's not able to go and play every offensive snap, he's all concerned. I think Iowa State has to have an injury in week two. He started running back in Wusama. He obviously left the game against North Dakota with an injury as well, but he turned off the field, so he should be good to go on Saturday, expect the same for Ben Kramer who Matt Campbell said. Afterwards, he's been banged up and dealing with an injury. I expect him to be ready to go on Saturday against Iowa as well. Those two will need to make big plays against a really strong Hawkeye defense that last year led the country and yard per play out loud. Despite playing with about 200 more snaps than any team in the country, and of course you can go even a little bit further than that. And say that that Hawkeye defense returns to I think 10 of 11 starters with the only non-returnee being Cooper the team at corner, of course drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles, early in Naples on a felt draft on the defensive side. I think that's where we're seeing a lot of the more serious injuries potentially. Defensive lineman, Trent Jones left the North Dakota State game with an achievement in the North Dakota game with an injury. He walked off the field, I think he'll be available for Iowa State, but the linebacker position is like the career you're going to see. Some of the most depth challenges for Iowa State, imagine Caleb Bacon, he left the game. We'll kind of see what his ability is on Saturday just by the looks of what happened against North Dakota. Of course, not great anytime you're carted off the field before the end of the fourth quarter. One will go off and didn't dress against North Dakota, sounds like he was banged up in training camp or game week preparation for week one. Don't know how likely it is that he plays. Carson Willich, he tore his AC on the sprint. So I was, it was already down one linebacker. They were expecting to contribute this season. Freshman linebacker, Kalberzina, somebody that Matt Campbell has spoken, you know, really highly ever since he enrolled on Iowa State's campus in January throughout spring football, throughout summer workouts, even throughout ball camp. It looked like he was going to have an opportunity to play some snaps for the cycle of defense. He didn't play and we pointed either because he was banged up as well. So yeah, it's just a long list of injuries for a cycle of team that is still kind of growing into some of its experience. I think you can kind of say and, you know, anytime you're traveling across the state to play the Hawkeyes, that's a tough environment for Iowa State to go into and have to play in, especially when you're going to be playing. A lot of guys who maybe are at the top of your depth chart at important positions like linebacker and of course on the offensive line. Just to kind of wrap this all up, I would say that, you know, like I said earlier, the Hawkeyes are two and a half point favorite, three and a half point favorite. At Saturday's game, you know, it's an opportunity for, I think, each team to notch an important early season win, especially for Iowa. They want to have an opportunity to go to the college football playoff and a favorable schedule. I would say makes that possible for the Hawkeyes this season. For Iowa State, I think it's a big opportunity to make a statement game, a statement win. A top 25 road win, a win over a rival opponent. Those are all things that you want to be able to notch with a lot of confidence. That would give Iowa State a ton of confidence going into big 12 play and they have a favorable start to big 12 play with games at Houston. And they host Baylor within their first couple of weeks of conference play. And then after this game for the Cyclones, it's a really good opportunity to get healthy because they have a bi-week before playing Arkansas State in the last week of non-conference play for the Cyclones. As far as their prediction, I do think Iowa comes out on top. Just believe too much in Iowa's defense. It's a close game. I think all but one of these since Matt Campbell has hired have been decided by 10 points or less. That's favorable in terms of being an entertaining, close, tight scoring game. I just think that Iowa's defense has too much continuity, a lot of reasons for me to believe in their ability to make Iowa State struggle a little bit offensively. Like they do most teams, Iowa's defense does. So I got the Cyclones following 17-13 on Saturday and week two in Iowa City. It will drop Iowa State's record in one and one. That's what happens. With a win though, you're probably moving up into the top 25 of the polls and you're two and up before heading into a bi-week. [Music] Hey, how y'all doing? Long time, no mother, love and see. This is your girl Jasmine Halliburton. Hitting y'all with a long-awaited wildcat roundup for the guys, the Bosco Boys. Now the fellas, they got everything covered on the men's side of things and that's cool and all. But baby, I'm here to talk about the ladies. K-State soccer and volleyball are back in season two, not just the cats on the gridiron. It ain't nothing wrong with spreading a little love in the hat. Now first things first, we are going to show some love to the ladies on the pitch. K-State soccer, they've already kicked off their non-conference schedule after a couple of exhibition matches and already got a 3-2 record to show fourth. The two losses do come at the hands of Nevada and the Gonzaga, but we're going to talk about the doves. Alright, the cats got their first win of the season in game number two on the road against Portland State winning that one two to nil. And let me tell you something about sophomore transfer from Oregon Ryan Reynolds. Girl, where have you been all of our lives? Scoring in the dying minutes of the first half, scoring her first. K-State goal on a free kick, 35 yards out, hitting the top corner of the far post like girl. Are you for real? That was cold. That was sick. She was doing her best Deadpool and just killing them in the free kicks. I'm telling you. And what's crazy is, is that Ryan's got more goals on free kicks than the US women's national team in the last three years. And now that is only one and look here, look here. That's no shade to our Olympic champions. You feel me? But that's just crazy. And baby Ryan did that. She was not done either. She scored another goal. That was deflected off the goalkeeper now. She's here. She's ready. She's coming. And she's in purple, baby. Do you feel me? Now, the next win for the Cats comes against Green Bay. And the ladies just decided to do their best Kendrick Lamar impression and pop out and show naysayers and tell them that they not like us. Because they packed Green Bay up beating them six goals to one. Ryan Reynolds said hello. It's me again. She's so nice. She had to do it twice. Another game where she scored two goals. And of course, the Cats were invited to this scoring party along with the two goals from Ryan. Joe C's got in the mix with a goal. And so did Allison Marshall and Morgan Strutman. Now, everybody gets the grab. They played. They civil where they napkins because everybody gets to eat. The ladies follow up that performance with a three to nothing win against South Dakota with goals from William Myers. Andrea Mueller and Allison Marshall grabbing her second goal of the season. Watching this team so far, you can tell that they are locking in and attacking third after scoring goals was really tough for them all of last season. It's good to see that from them, especially now they're getting so much better on the ball individually. They're making crisp passes. Everybody's trying to get open in the box. They move it in the box. This is something that they really, really trying to do. And I love to see it. I love who Mike the Beanie is doing with them in this upcoming season. Right now, the Cats is scheduled to be last in the big 12 as far as soccer goals. But they keep scoring some goals like this. I see. They're not finishing last. No, Sir Reba, they are not finishing last. Not this damn season. It's time to lock in. And so far, they have already done that. And now they got another game coming up against Arkansas State. And then they'll have an opportunity to get a lick back against Memphis Tigers when they play them for the second season in a row on Sunday. Now, we do got to move on to the hardwood with the Volley Cats. They kicked off year two of the Jason Mansfield era at the Stacey Clark Classic hosted by Purdue in Indiana. Right now, it's a little slow. It's a little slow, but no sweat. The ladies have only had three games so far this season. It started out. It's facing Purdue on their home floor, who is ranked number eight in the country. And they dropped that match in four sets. The ladies outperformed the number eight team in kills, assists, and aces. But the Boilermakers just had our number at the net with 17 blocks to our six. And we just had too many attacking errors with 25. It was a tough tournament for the Cats. They ended up dropping the next game against UC Davis in a hard fought five sets. But they ended on a strong note, getting the sweep against UMBC. Now, our very own legend herself, Alia Carter, making the decision to come back for her final season with the Cats after she was flirting a little bit with the idea of the trans reporter. But now she's back in purple where she belongs. She's already got 56 kills and three matches already. And I understand a slow start against tough opponents. And we got new faces on the team. It's going to take some time to gel a little bit. And a team that's just oh so close to making the tournament last season. And they were able to kick butt and take names of some big time teams at the morgue. There's no need to be worried whatsoever, especially not this damn early. You feel me? And they got another shot at a couple more ranked teams in the Creighton Classic starting with their match against number 20 USC on Friday and number 11 Creighton on Saturday. Talk about a tough weekend, but this is where legends are made. You'll be able to grab a couple of wins, ranked wins at that at Creighton. Now, I'd like to give another shout out to the Bosco Boys for letting me do this wildcat roundup. I think I want to say for what? The past three, four seasons now? Who knows? Time is an illusion. But still, once again, another shout out to them. Now, if y'all want to hear a little bit more about all things women's sports for your K-State Wildcats, my show running back will be coming back real soon on the Kansas City sporting network. Y'all not going to want to miss that. I want to try to do a show each week permitting my very demanding job schedule. But, you know, I'm always going to put out for y'all. I know I got y'all. I got y'all with all the K-State women's sports y'all will need. And when baseball comes around, guess what? I got that for you too. But still, again, a huge, huge shout out to the Bosco Boys doing it big every single time, being the podcast that we go to for all things K-State, especially the success that we hope to see for not only football, for basketball, for anything that has to do with K-State sports they all about. And I really appreciate them for letting me hop on and do this. So, I got to end this the way I end a lot of things, Cats by 90. ♪ Hail to the purple ♪ ♪ Hail to the white ♪ ♪ Wildcat in spirit ♪ ♪ Wildcat in fight ♪ ♪ Hail Alma Mater ♪ ♪ From sea to sea ♪ ♪ Onward forever ♪ ♪ Hail victory ♪ ♪ You can stay wildcats ♪ ♪ For Alma Mater fights ♪ ♪ Glory in the combat ♪ ♪ For the purple and the white faithful ♪ ♪ To our colors ♪ ♪ We will ever be ♪ ♪ A fighting ♪ ♪ Ever fighting ♪ ♪ For a wildcat ♪ ♪ Victory ♪ ♪ Fight, fight, fight, fight ♪ ♪ We can stay wildcats ♪ ♪ For Alma Mater ♪ ♪ Fight, fight, fight, fight ♪ ♪ Glory in the combat ♪ ♪ For the purple and the white ♪ ♪ The white faithful ♪ ♪ To our colors ♪ ♪ We will ever be ♪ ♪ A fighting ♪ ♪ Ever fighting ♪ ♪ For a wildcat ♪ ♪ Victory ♪ ♪ Go, stay ♪ One, two, baratamala, baratamala, baratamala, baratamala.
