I think we have mutual friends. Maybe something like that. Yeah That was pretty dope, too, you know, um, but yeah, man, I definitely just here to just share the truth, you know, just Break it all through. So you mentioned eight years of recovery. Yeah, so like you're cleaning sober, too. Yeah, okay Yeah, I'll mess around with it. I was stuck on I'm not not like that. Okay, and that's not More my thing was something I struggled with was like pill popping, you know, just getting away like Get stuck on on Coke, you know, just starting bad means with my family, you know, just losing a lot of connections, you know And just after a while just being lost, you know, and being so young, you know, just trying to figure it out So to now is like having a little bit of age on myself, you know, and being able to understand at 29 now, you know I mean able to just like Help a lot of the youngsters understand, you know, because I remember coming up and I was always like wondering them like who I turned to who who's gonna be there for me to help me understand, you know, and No, you know, I gotta do it myself. So yeah, I'll do it, you know, I put it all my music, you know It's a lot of my passion that I try to do, you know, I get a lot of love from a lot of communities, you know So it's really good, you know, it's really good to be able to get out there and just try to do something different, you know, like Everyone wants all the other stuff, but at the same time I still get to bring some of it just with with a story, you know, with a What a actual story that's true life, you know, like I get to actually break it down and help them understand You know, I mean anyone could do it, you know, it's not it's not hard You know, it's just you get what you give pretty much. Yeah, so real quick You're a better man than me dog cuz I can't drink it off or if I have if I have one drink I'm off and running. I'm gone. I'm gone like it could be days. It could be weeks. It could be months See, yeah, and I'm talking in full-blown You know full-blown just gone gone with the wind, you know, and I so I applaud you for that You know getting clean is hard. I know how hard it is and well, I know how hard it is to get off like coke and dope But I don't know how hard it is to get off pills. I know those are pretty hard. So it might be harder So yeah, dude, like you're like especially like when that's kind of all you know At a certain time in this world, you know, like my dad passed from from drugs, you know My mom was was an addict and now she takes down 22 years sober, you know So yeah, she's been a huge anchor for me, you know, like if she's raised all five of us by herself She's been able to pull through, you know Just show me like if she could do it as a woman, you know What already 10 says backwards with a dead husband and all of this and just all of us that don't understand anything, you know And all we did was just follow her, you know, like don't get me wrong Yeah, we got curious and life went on in high school and I like you know, but you you learn from it, you know Like you live you learn and it's pretty much what you make of it What you want to understand for the next ones coming up, you know Cuz as I've grown to understand one thing is like, you know, we're not here for so long You know, like the next generations are behind us, you know We're gonna we're eventually gonna be washed out and it's like leave a message, you know Do something do something different, you know, like try to try to inspire, you know, like that's one thing I take a lot like I played sports a lot when I was coming up, you know And Kobe was a huge inspiration to me, you know, and just you're like at least inspired a person next to you know Like do something different, you know, try to try to I don't know, like just try to leave an impact, you know Like and we get nothing in return from it, you know It's just pretty much all doing out of your heart, you know And just cuz at the end of the day, it's like, you know, what it's like when you're you're down and out, you know And being stuck in an addiction and everything like that, you know, it would definitely like It'll bring a different person out and you know, like you'll realize how lonely the world really is, you know, like it slows everything down And that's what, you know, man It's everything that I've just grown to understand, you know, like, you know A lot of things that a lot of people don't really understand and talk about is like, you know It's harder to do what's right in today's world, you know You know, like it's a lot harder to do what you're supposed to be doing when they're throwing so much in the face of the youth out here, you know Like, and we know it just by going through life, you know, like we understand it because all of us fall short to something, you know All of us have something we got to deal with or fix, you know, we're not perfect, you know But as long as we're trying every day, it's a slow grind, you know And yeah, man, like, I don't know, just if I could share any message out here in the world, you know It's just letting them know, like, it can be done, you know We can, we could definitely, we could definitely do the slow grind and take care of us, love ourselves, get better, you know And so by God, you know, with me, I got saved when I was in jail, you know, I had to figure it out from the bottom And my mom always told me, she's like, I'm not gonna force religion on you, I'm not gonna force rehab on you or nothing, you know She's like, this is something your growth to understand one day if it's meant for you, you know And I was like, all right, I went on, you know, I found myself slipping, found myself falling and hoes everywhere, you know I'm catching so many cases, I can't even keep track anymore, you know So by this point, you're like, now I'm just out here just trying to think I know everything, you know But in reality, you're like, I'm locked up so many times, I'm such a young age where I'm, like, sitting here thinking I'm like, you know, like, do I really know everything, you know, like, now at this point, I gotta start understanding, like, my pops to go from the drugs, I'm not going anywhere, I want to do something with my life, but I'm not, you know, like, I'm not Because I'm falling short to something, you know, and, and it just takes a lot, it took a lot, you know And don't get me wrong, like, now for work today, I work with a lot of the patients that go through a lot of this You know, I went to get, to give back, like, I could find a way to give back, even if it's not gonna be in music Well, let me go get paid, let me go to school for it then, you know, like, a lot of my, I have one of my friends You told me, he's like, you're like, we were at the same age, you know, like, we're at the same age He's like, and how did you happen to go and take off and find a good job and be happy and do everything that you gotta do? You know, I brought a house at 26, he's like, how'd you happen to do all of this? He's like, and I had to go to college and do all of this, I was like, I don't know, he's like, how'd you turn your bad into a positive? I was like, I had no idea, but I tell you one thing in the beginning, I did not think that would actually happen, you know We never do, we don't understand, we don't understand until it's, it's down the road, you know And now it's like, yeah, I get to continue to inspire every day on a daily basis, you know, today I did group out work And I just see a lot of moms coming from DCFS, losing their kids, you know, a lot of young kids coming out from the bridges Just trying to understand, find hope, you know, trying to find a meaning, a purpose, you know And that's motivating to me because it keeps me focused, you know I keep seeing my light and I keep understanding every day, you know, like, it's like, we don't do this for gold or royalty Any of that, I don't, you know, I don't get nothing out of it All I get out of it in reality is like, watching these people change, you know, like, that's honestly the best thing we can take from this world You know, is watching, that's one thing that like a lot of people don't talk about But that's like, some people will be like, damn, like, oh, like, they think they're too good, they'll be hating on them Other than reality, it's like, no, like, it's not that they're too good, good for them Thank God they're doing better, thank God that they're getting to a better place, you know And that's the mindset I try to carry with myself, you know, on a 24/7 basis because Prince Joseph, you know It's something that I take high with that name when I chose it, you know Because it's like, he's simply a message of being at the bottom of the hill, being at the bottom of the pits, you know And being there when it was even his fault to be there, you know, but just understanding God had a plan, you know Like, and I did too, you know, and eventually I knew if I put all the work in I could take myself anywhere I want, you know, and yeah, man, so yes I definitely got a lot more to keep going, man, just a little bit of what I'm getting started with right now, you know Yeah, um, can you tell us a little bit about your journey into music, like, what is my experience? To music? Yeah, what inspired you to start rapping? So, you know, like, I work 24/7, I work, I'm always working, I'm always inspiring these patients See, I'm always watching them change their lives and it's just so inspiring to see them, like, go and I wish When I'm there and I leave, and I'm still part of the world, I go to gym, I have my music, I'm involved in Concerts, me, my girl, go to the games, you know, like, we do everything, we're out there in the world as well, you know, like And it's like, I wish, like, I could carry that life for me when I'm off the clock with me, you know And I end up realizing, like, I'm like, you know, like, I used to do music way back in the day when I was running in the streets With my homies and out, we were in and out of just trouble, you know, and I was like, I know how to do this Something right there inspired me to go back Once they killed Nipsey, bro, that was the main light right there 'Cause that, that was somebody who was my main motivation, you know And it was something that led me towards this, like, now what, you know, like, why can't I put my message after work Into music and do something different, inspire those other people, you know, 'cause there's other kids out there That will probably never come to a rehab facility and ever get in touch with me, you know, I'm saying But why not try to go over some in a different way, you know That was one thing that mainly led me, like, focused, man, and after that, like, once I started doing it, my patients started following I started getting a lot of attention from a lot of close people, you know, and it's like, in reality too, it's It's therapy for me as well, you know, like, I'll be at the gym in my own song to come on shuffle And it's like, sometimes I need it to give me back to, like, focus, you know, give me back to, like, where am I? Like, you know, what am I doing, you know, 'Cause it's so easy to get distracted, so Yeah, my music is more for a bigger meaning for me as well, but for also, like, the others around me, you know And my son as well, you know, like, shit, bro, you all lost my dad when I was five years old, you know I wasn't, I wasn't here, I don't understand what messages my dad would ever left for me one day in this world, you know If I could ever leave anything my son could know anything about me, at least know what I stood for, you know At least know what it is I want to, what I want to do, you know, like, and yeah, so the music is definitely a big step You know, I'm not done, bro, I've got a lot coming up right now with this music, so I'm like, man, I'm just Excited, you know, like, no matter wherever I go, it's like, just stay true, stay true to the roots, you know Like, just keep, keep doing the change, everything I'm just trying to do, you know I've been digging at this for like two years now, so Yeah, man, you're doing this for two years? Yeah, I just get it, get it down on all the lyrics, getting all the equipment ready, getting You know, just trying to find an identity with it, you know, because it's a, it's a scary, it's a scary feel to approach because it's like, not a lot of people make it out of it, you know But if you dig in and you go hard, you have passion, you have a story, you have a mission, you know I mean, what do you got to lose? You know, like, bet on yourself, bank on yourself and You know, I mean, I'd rather at least, at least fall in the failed category than never trying, you know Like, at least let me try it and swing, you know, shit, you never know That's right, and if you don't, if you don't mind me asking, what happened to your dad? Yeah, um, yeah, him and my mom, bro, they used to do PCP and yeah, they were like, lit back in the 90s, the 80s, yeah, they were really, really bad on it, but like, like around like 2001, yeah, like, he was just really bad on it, he just got out of prison and he was home with all of us, and yeah, he was outside just, you know, in the pool at the night and slipped on the algae, hit his head, it was late night, no one was really out there, just night swimming on his own, you know, and by the time my mom found him, it was like an hour after he was already, like, down there, you know, and yeah, like, she's sitting there, you know, and like, she just looks up and like, the moon just got full and the clouds moved and she could see my dad right there at the bottom of the water, you know, and like, being inside, washing from the inside, like, when they told all of us to go asleep and just not knowing what's going on, you know, going back to sleep, waking up in the next morning, and my pop shorts are on the fence, you know, and everyone's gone, it's quite silent, there was so much commotion the night before, but then it's silent, you know, so that was a day I never ever understand why it's so clear, you know, because I don't remember a lot of things even before all of that, but that was such a like, vivid day, you know, and yeah, bro, that was, that was something right there that drives a lot of my focus and passion as well, you know, because I don't know, like, you know, being a father as well, it just, you come back to think about things you never ever would have thought of when you're a kid, you know, it's, we're just so fast in the moment, yo, we're so, so going with everything, you know, school, we got bills, everyone's just so carried away with life, you know, that no one takes the time to slow down and like, you know, think about our roots, some of us got a lot of things we got to work on, you know, and once I got my, my head straight, you know, I was able to go back and really deal with everything I dealt with as a kid, you know, to clear all up, hold no hate, no matter nobody, I forgive everybody, you know, why, because I can start fresh, you know, like, you're not gonna let everything go and there's no anchor on me, you know, I get to just be me, you know, like, and, and a lot of the people, like, you know, a lot of people, it took some time for them to, a lot of my enemies on the street and all my ops and all that, it took some time, yo, like, yo, it took some time, but after a while, bro, they all came around, like, they respected that, yo, like, they respected the fact, even like, that I was changing my life, you know, like, even though we had our run-ins and a lot of us on the street and all that, you know, but when they saw you, like, I was on a different mission for my mom, for my family, you know, like, you have to do something else, I had to get my head out again, I was so good, I was selling dope and running the street and manipulating everybody else, why can't I do this for myself, you know, like, why can I put that energy and it's like bossing up, you know, it's like, I got tired of being a bum and living from 100 by 100, you know, I'm like, let me go boss up and go to school and do something different with my life, you know, like, why stick around and let them keep thinking, you know, I'm just a Mexican kid who can't do nothing, like, I'm falling short to the system, nah, bro, I could totally boss up, I could be a man, you know, I could be a voice, I could be something different, you know, but if I believe, you know, and you got to do the hard work, you know, you could say it, it's easy to say all day for anybody, you know, but being able to, like, actually do it and put in the groundwork, you know, it's a different story and after a while, you know, a lot of things come with that, you know, things get better, life gets better, you know, it just doesn't happen overnight, you know, it's just understanding the grind, you know, it's patience. All right, and you mentioned you're from LA, part of LA. Um, Palmdale area. Oh, okay, so you're coming out there? Oh, yeah. I'm in the desert of LA. All right, I, I think, I think the homie, I think, I don't know, I think he's from Palm Springs, my bad. One of the homies that that wraps out of here, Blanco 15, I think he's from Palm Springs. Shit, no, okay, I think he is from Palmdale, yeah. Palmdale, no, I do this. I think, like, risky. Yeah, he's got a big P though. I think so. Yeah, he's got a big P. That's the homie. They're all the boys. Yeah, they're all the boys. But yeah, okay. I, you know, I grew up in LA trying to know how it is. Yeah. So, like, right, I mean, you mentioned Nipsey, you mentioned Nipsey, right? Yeah. Who else are your influences right now? Music. Man, I would say Don Kennedy was another huge factor, you know, like, my coming up, Draco, definitely, you know, he was, he was more of like, he was more of the hope of my, with my music as well, with like, more, realizing he got some flavor into it, you know, like, Nipsey could add the knowledge, add the message and all of that. But like, Draco, like, just had a different way of like, just adding the groove with it, you know. So, hey, yo, I'm only two years in, but shit, give him some time, you know, eventually, after a while, I was like, never know, because right now I feel like a lot of them have influenced a lot of my, my way is Nip, Tupac as well, you know, if I'm going all the way back, Biggie, you know, DMX, Big L, just man, it goes on, it goes on, you know, Mac Miller, man. Rest in peace, my girl. So how many songs you got out, you got out right now? Man, I got like four albums right now. Four albums right now, two years? Yeah, yeah. So I got like, about like, I think like 80 songs right now. Yeah. And you know, I mean, it's always good to go back to a lot of these and just like, see the different and the growth, you know, like, because I know I look at a lot, a lot of my newer songs compared to the ones I first started with. I'm like, damn, like, yeah, I could rerun this back any day right now, you know, so it just, it just takes time. Yo, I freestyle every day, bro, like, should I be at work? I'll take my lunch break, go outside and just freestyle, freestyle, freestyle, because, you know, the craft, you know, never ends, you know, like, I'll be right there, engineer, one of my songs, I do all my own, everything on my work by myself, you know, because shit, bro, like, I came in this and I have nobody, you know, I had to invest all my effort, my promotions, everything all in myself, you know, I'm based on my own manager, you know, it's like, but it's like, if you got a dream, then only, they only see it if you bring it to them, you know, so that's what I'm doing right now. Okay, all right. And what was the first song you ever, like, wrote or recorded and how do you feel about it now? Yeah, you know, you're like, as I tell you, you're like, there's times I would just play the, my old songs and I'd be like, damn it, like, I could really, like, go rerun this, you know, but there's this, this one song is called "This is the One" and this one, you know, like, I made, I made the hook and everything when I was in rehab on my last go and, and I used to just speak a lot up there on the podium, they would let us come up, everyone just share with around the recovery, what's going on, you know, in the room be like, 40, 50, like, just grown man, you know, from everywhere, jails everywhere, you know, and, you know, I'd be up there and I just go in, you know, like, I was just, like, I just wanted to see change and I just want to, like, do something different. They'd be like, damn, like, this gets crazy, you're like, he's young, like, you're like, what you're saying is, like, you know, people don't really make it, you know, at that age, like, in the rehab, like, the chances are rare as hell, I'm only 20 years old at the moment, I'm not even 21 and they're like, the chances are very rare, you know, like, and I'm like, no, it's okay, like, I'm just focused and I just hear everybody saying, like, this is one, this one right here, like, he'll get away, he'll find a different route, he'll find something different to do, you know, and after I heard that, bro, you know, I made that hook, I put that song together, yeah, I was at my house, I was with Bravo the bag chaser, his brother blessed, and that was right before they blew up, they were my little homies, you know, we're right there, I showed them my song, you know, and they were like, damn, like, this is different, you know, and I've kept that song ever since, because that same message, that same song, yo, is just still the same, you know, like, I still, I don't know, like, I still, to me, I feel like it's still really, really good, but hey, you know, I mean, I know, like, the song after, yeah, definitely not, but the first one, yeah, your first one, yeah, for sure, because that one was a start, you know, that was, that was what, like, lit the, the flame in me, you know, it was like, this is the one, I had to believe it as well, myself, you know, like, and once I did, you know, man, the rest was just, let's get to work, you know, let's, let's go, even if I make all these bad songs now, I'll start now, get it out the way, all of those are done, now I've got way more newer songs, way more different, oh, you know, it's, it's growth, you know, it's like, that's, that's the thing about it, it's like, just how much are you willing to put in, you know, like, how much are you willing to work at it, and yeah, dude, I've probably deleted half of all those songs and have much more new music on today, but yeah, in total, man, I say 80, if I could go back to all the songs, I even have songs like in the vault, I've just, I'm like, whatever about, I say about, like, at least shy of 200 songs, you know, just always working, you know, you got nothing to lose, and this music game is like, man, this one's, this one's an interesting one, because it's not like sports, you know, sports, you got a deadline by your age and all of that, you know, like, and music is like, dude, you never know, you know, you just got to keep working, it's right place, right there, you know, he's, man, so yeah, definitely. Yeah, I mean, you're young, so I mean, you ain't got to worry about age anyways, but... So, hey, these kids now, they look, Kodak Blackwood was like, 50, you know, I was like, dude, he's like, one year younger than me, I was like, this is crazy, yeah, that's what he's 28. And Kodak's pregnant soldiers, it looks all over. Yeah, yeah, I was just like, that's so interesting, but, no, yeah, for, oh, Jeezy just turned 30, I'm like, oh, shit, all right, here we go, but no, yeah, yeah, that's the beauty of, like, the music game, you know, like, well, shit, I could go all the way to, like, too short, he started blowing up right before 40, so yeah, there is this one, this one right here, bro, yeah, this one definitely takes some time to just keep working, you know, that's all it is. I mean, I think, you know, it's cool to blow up when you're young, but as you get older, you get more mature, when you have more training, you have more practice, you know, you start developing skills, you learn how to maybe rap better, flow better, absolutely, you know, I can't rap, I can write some good poetry, but I can't rap, I don't know how to write, what do you call that, melody, I don't know if rap songs, I know some songs do, I know some songs do some, some don't, but I don't really know how to write melody, you know, I don't know the whole structure, I've looked it up before, but I'm like, man, fuck this bullshit, it depends on the artist. Yo, yeah, cuz dude, you're like the artist could literally just have scribble scrabbles everywhere, I look like a server's notepad, I swear, you're like, and they'll just be able to like go, it's like just check marks, you know, they'll just hit a word and be able to go off with it, and I'm like, you know, like, yeah, it's, the artist could, it's up to the artist, yeah, they could definitely make, make the melody out of that, you know, but also as a writer, you know, you can make it very understandable as well though too, you know, like, I write my own music as well, I write all my own songs, like, man, majority time, I'm, I say 80% of the time, I'm freestyling it, because that's where you get all the rhythm, you can find it, you know, you find, you find the wave right there, you know, because music, you gotta feel it, you know, music is more of a feeling more than like coming into it with a, with a drew up plan, you know, because it's like, man, bro, I'll tell you, there's been so many times where I've sent beats away that I thought we're gonna beat it one, you know, and I'm like, I just, it's just, and then there'd be ones that, you know, I thought I was gonna just like, not mess with it and all of a sudden, it's like one of my favorite songs, you know, like, yeah, so music is more of a like, very, very interesting thing, but you know, like, a good artist would be able to catch up any type of writing work, you know, so, yeah, I'm definitely looking at some of that. Do you make your own beats? I engineered them, I'll cut them up a little bit, mess with them, but not from scratch, some of them, I have a few, but not too many, I'd rather like, just work with some other engineers, yeah, yeah, that's a lot of guys, you know, on YouTube, bro, selling beats for like, dirt cheap, you know, like, yeah, yeah, 'cause a lot of them aren't really blown up like that, yeah, either, so it's like, yeah, for like, 30, 40 bucks, you know, like, they're just selling beats and you find one you really like, hell yeah, you know? I feel that, man, I feel that. So, okay, so you flow a lot, right? Yeah, you flow a lot, okay, so are you just like, chilling at work and you're just like, all up in your mind, all up in your head and you just start flowing, like, is that what we're doing? It's more like, like, it has to be a, you know, like, I don't know, it has to be a vision, like, it has to be something that would like, 'cause I've been through a lot of shit, you know, like, I've been through so much stuff, I can't remember all of it sometimes at the top of my head, you know, and I'll just be there at work, bro, like, obviously, one of my patients have a breakdown, I don't understand something, like, you know, and it would just bring me back to something with me, you know, like, and once I find, like, like, a vision, you know, once I find, like, a story, something to, like, something to tell, you know, something that I haven't done before, you know, then that's when I run to my car, bro, I go on lunch, running my car off, I can go cook it up, definitely right there, I'll go, definitely go see if it's all matching up, you know, and sometimes if I can't finish it up and all of that, I'll leave it alone, you know, I'll come back later, mess with it later, but sometimes I'll have luck, you know, and I'll be able to knock out at least 80% of the song, come back and just do details, you know, the major cleanup work, or like, your hooks and all of that, but, yeah, majority of it all has to come from, like, just like, I don't know, like, fill in it, you know, just, like, seeing, seeing a story, seeing, seeing something that relates back to me pretty much, yeah. So for your creative process, what do you prefer, a pen and paper or, like, writing it on your phone, writing it on a laptop, keyboard? Just freestyle it out first, and then, and then write it right around that. Pen and paper or like on the computer? On the computer, yeah, or else my phone sometimes. Yeah, but once I find that good sound, because, man, I swear, I could think I have something good written down, and just, it won't go with that beat, and sometimes you'll have a good freestyle over there, and you'll be like, "Damn, that sounds way better than so you'll work around that." You know, like, that, I took that from Tupac, watching all those videos on YouTube, you're like, he was one that, yeah, he'd go in there, like, flame it up, whatever you like out of his freestyle, yeah, then I'll write around that, you know, I'm like, "Damn, like, that's a good approach," you know, and, yeah, it definitely helps, definitely, yeah. I don't know how true it is, but I've heard that, uh, future, that when he makes music, it's all freestyle. Yeah, he's, dude, he's a freestyle king. He's a beast? He's in my top 10, for sure. Top 10, yeah. Hell yeah, hell yeah, oh my God. Yeah, future is amazing. Yeah, he's another one, also, like, little Wayne too. He's another one who just lighted up, you know? Yeah, yeah. Okay, okay. And so, right now, right now, specifically, like, at this moment, at this time, like, in your music process, like, what's the main message that you're trying to, like, convey to your, to your listeners right now? Like, my main message, they don't need to change their lifestyle. They don't gotta, they don't gotta dress in all white. They don't gotta do any of that. They don't gotta walk a straight line. I just want them to just find a purpose, you know? And I know I'm like, nobody to them and they're nobody to me, but I'm just speaking from experience, you know, it's like, just find a purpose, you know? Like, if I could tell them, you know, like, one thing, like, it's, you know, find a passion, find a reason to, to find yourself, you know, like, that's, that's my main main focus, yeah. Okay. Now, this next question is kind of tricky. So, okay, so, how do you balance staying true to the hood and staying true to your boots? But also, grow as an artist and grow as a person. So, how do you balance it too? Well, Joe, look, to the thing about with hood and all that, it's with your friends. It's your friends, it's people you grow up with, you know, after a while, it's like, where are they? You know, like, yo, majority, I'm gonna go to jail. So, I'm gonna die. Some of them change their lives, some of them go away. Joe, so as I'm getting better, I steered away from everybody for, like, a good two years. So, I just stayed to myself. Joe, I'm like, let me just grind. Joe, let me get all my money, let me get all my core fees. Figure it out, let me do all my sentence time, because I gotta clean up all my last open cases. Joe, once I'm done with all of that, let's see who's still there for me. Joe, once I got there, like, four or five of them, you know? And at that point, it's like, all right, now what are they doing? You're like, majority, I'm like, yo, I'm still doing blow. You're really sober, like, like, you want to, like, come on, like, you're not down. And I'm like, no, I'm not down, like, yeah, because then by that point, it's like, all right, the first time I get it, the second time, huh? Third time is like, it's from sign of disrespect, you know, it's like, come on, you're like, yeah, so by, it took time, bro, for me to realize, like, I didn't need to be around a lot of these folks, you know, like, a lot of y'all, like, we don't, we don't see eye anymore, because we grow into men, yo, we become older, older adults, yo, like, we started having different likes and different wants, yo, like, I'm at a different level, I'm trying to boss up, and I'm trying to boss up so much to, yo, like, I want to do different things, I want to do things my dad never ever got to buy a house, yo, like, my dad, just a lot of things that are, like, undone with my family, you know, like, so yeah, a lot of that keeps me so focused to where I never ever have time to look back at my homies in the hood. A lot of them, dude, man, I feel bad sometimes, yo, because I, I hope all of them are good out there, you know, some of them have died, and with a lot of their debts, you know, it definitely keeps me strong on to knowing that I'm on the right road right now, you know, because it's like, man, it's horrible, bro, to keep having to go to these funerals, you know, and I got a lot of friends that are not doing good right now, you know, and all of that, you know, that's one thing that helps me, if I stay good and loyal and solid to myself, that helps the dream of being an artist as well, a possibility, you know, because I'm present, I'm here, like, you know, I'm able to make it happen, you know, by just staying true to who I am now, you know, now it's like, I used to do it for the hood, I used to do it for the homies, now I do it for my mom, you know, now I do it for my brothers, yo, now I do it for my sisters, now I do it for my nieces and my nephews, I do it for them, you know, so they could at least have someone tell each other in a different way, you're like, I'm tired of us coming up and, oh, everyone before us was just gangbangers that are in prison or like, they're not really doing anything, okay, but like, why can't we bring something different to the next kids growing up, like, why can't they see, like, there is a way out, you know, like, there is a different way, and if you didn't do it, well, at least my uncle tried this way, and I got my life together, my brothers got their life together, took time, everyone got focused, my sister got our life together, everyone followed, you know, but don't get me wrong, yo, we were all in and out of jail, we're all in trouble, we're all giving my mom the worst headaches after she did everything to get sober and stay in the right path, you know, we all gave her a run for her money, but it took one, it took her, it took me, and then it took all my other siblings to follow in, and, you know, everything lined up. Up to today, what's been your most challenging obstacle in making music? Everyone wants, you know, gangster music, everyone wants everyone wants, you know, talk about the drugs, bitches, yo, like, all of the lies, you know, to me it's lies, yo, because I see it different now, you know, like, I've been on the other end of all of that, you know, where it's like, yeah, to me it's like, you know, man, yeah, definitely. Ooh, you know, like, as I come back to all of this, like, you know, with this music, like, I don't know, you know, like, it's just mainly like, as I'm telling you, it's a message for me, you know, at the end, it's like, it helps ground me as well, but, you know, I don't know, there's challenges come every day, you know, a lot of these artists, they, I don't really see a message in their music, you know, a lot of them, it's all the same, you know, and my challenge is like, making sure I keep myself to not act like that, and always keep every song different, keep a different message in every single song, you know, like, I don't know, it's, it's just, it's therapy as well, you know, I know there's different things I could always touch on, there's a million things to make songs about, you know, so, but I don't do the gangster, I don't say the N word, you know, I'm not for all of it, you know, I just, I try to have a little more class, you know, I try, it's just a meeting, you know, so, that's just the one thing, you know, but I mean, they get it, they get the message, you know, like, I, I really had any issues with it though, but just, just a, you know, just, just a couple of times, I'll be like in different, like, you know, shows and all that, I'm like, shit, like, they're everyone really back down here, I'm like, no, like, but it's cool, they get it too, you know, I get support from a lot of them, and I'll be like, damn, you know, like, they understand, bro, because they, they come from this as well, like, they understand the pain, even the black community, yo, like, they'll be behind me because they understand my message, they understand my pain, they all as well have seen it, you know, they've all understanding, know what it's like to come from a single mother household, you know, know what it's like to be having family members that are stuck on drugs and all of that, you know, so, even though it's a little challenge, but at the end of the day, it feels really good when they understand, like, the real message of it though, you know, like, when at least, at least, I get to see that they understood, like, what I really, really am trying to relate, you know? All right, and it was beauty out of it. Do you have any show, do you have any shows coming up? Yo, I have, I have one, I'm trying to, so I got the HR Light Club, they just scheduled me for the 27th for September. I have also, I'm supposed to be doing another show with DJ Quik, he's gonna be coming out the Palmdale, so I'm trying to do that out in October, yeah, at the end of October. But yeah, other than that, once I get there, y'all look like two months ahead and I'll start booking, I'll start booking, like, a good two months ahead, so I'm just pretty much a good way, I always keep at least a show every month, a podcast, and you know, but right now I'm about to get more on music videos, because I've been pretty much just trying to get all my establishment with, you know, everything else. So you're gonna use free music videos, you got something in mind? Nick Rodriguez, yeah, I'm gonna have him, I just got to choose the right song, I got so many, I just, you know, he's a good video guy, so I definitely want to bring, like, the right, the right song with it, but yeah, yeah. You ever get a chance, you gotta check out the Homie Shooters on Go. Shooters on Go, it looks like Shooter Gonzo. I think I Shooters on Go. Yeah, I'm gonna have to play. He's cool, he's cool, he's cool. Hell yeah. So, what else are you working on right now? Yeah, right now I'm just cleaning up one of these albums, I just got everything all finished up, uploaded on Spotify, other than that, I'm gonna be going to No Jumper this, but end of this month for a mic drop, so I'll be doing that, that's actually really pretty tight, and then I got also Shaka, yeah, Shaka at the white room, I'm supposed to be doing that sometime at the end of this month, so I'm just waiting on those guys too, but yeah, I got a couple things lined up right now, I'm just trying to, like, keep everything in balance, because I'm telling you where I do all this on my own, you know, so I just got to find a way to balance it all out, but it's going, yeah, Hell yeah, it's dope, it's all working out, yeah. So, since you do this all on your own, like, how do you start making all this happen for yourself, like, with No Jumper, Shaka, Food Community, I think, were you on LA icon TV too? Yeah, yeah, so that's the homie, yeah, yeah, how do you make all this happen? Dude, I don't know, I just be on social media, and I don't know, I'm a fan of them as well, you know, don't get me wrong, you know, and I'll definitely just be there, you know, I'll be coming up like, yo, him, yeah, like, bring me on a shit, they'll really reach out, you know, really actually hit back, you know, and it was dope, and we'll get everything booked, you know, and then they started seeing, like, you know, I've been able to build up, like, report with Lush, you know, I've been able to drop all my music and just try to stay consistent, you know, and shit, I mean, at the end of the day, as well too, like, they're all looking for artists as well out there, you know, they just, there's not a lot of artists who's really left out there right now, you know, a lot of them, it's just a lot of same old shit right now, you know, yeah, so it gives a chance for other artists right now, so they've been, and they've definitely been pretty friendly with bringing me in and all that. That's what's up, so what's been, what's been your favorite podcast so far? Put 'em on blast. This one's dope, I like them, yeah, chillin out for real, this is really sick. This is small compared to probably what they got, they probably got way better setups, I mean, no, no disrespect to the Reki spot, this is cool. No, I get you. But I know some of those podcast, you know, some of those guys are getting paid, you know what I mean? Yeah, I did like, I went on Mad Deep, yeah, and I wanted to just really cool, you know, they had a second story, and yeah, you could look out the whole window and all that, that one's pretty sick. Okay, yeah, that sounds kind of good. Yeah, I kind of have it, I mean, so I have a mic, I have a mic I can take with me, like if I wanted to take a laptop with my mic, like say somewhere like dope like that, I could probably do something like that, but traveling, I don't know, it's setting all that up with noise and you know. Yeah, I got hit up for a podcast to do one of those too, yeah, and I don't know, I was just like, I'm still trying to, they told me, yeah, find a place wherever you want to do it too. I was like, damn, I was like, yeah, I don't know. It was gonna be a little interesting, so yeah, we're gonna figure that out. Yeah, sometimes I do podcasts on Zoom, because it's like a Zoom call and Zoom, I have to pay for it, Zoom records a call, and then it records audio, and then, you know, plug it into Spotify, Apple, all that. And it's cool, but then, you know, it's not, it's not the same not being face-to-face, you know what I mean? Sometimes, you know, I find myself looking at my phone real quick, you know, and so, like, right here is face-to-face, like, I'm giving you all my attention, you know? Yeah, I appreciate it. And so, like, the only hard part with this is, like, I gotta bring a watch now, because I don't know what I'm talking about. Oh, yeah. I gotta bring, where we at? 13. 13? Okay, we're doing pretty good, you know, like, 15 minutes, right? So, I want to know. All right, so, look, like, I have a couple, so, like, there's, like, two podcasts on the internet, right, that where I tell my life story, like, my whole life story, like, I'm talking, like, starts a finish, right? And I don't expect you to tell me, I don't expect you to tell me your whole story. Yeah. But, like, give me some of the, if you can, because, like, okay, so, we're trying to inspire people, right? That's what Dre talks is about. Dre talks is about inspiring, motivating, letting, letting people see that, like, if you grew up in the hood, you can make it out the hood. Letting people see it. If you're, if you're a recovering alcoholic addict, you can, you can stay clean and you can make it, you can be successful. If you've never started a business, right now's the time to start a business, right? You know what I mean? If you want to be an entrepreneur, then say whatever it is, you can make it. Like, I have a friend, I had on the podcast, he started Monster Energy back in the day, he started, and he sold it, but my boy, like, my boy's got a Lambo now, you know what I'm saying? Like, big, big things, you know, I've had some, you know, some other rappers on here too, you know. So, this podcast is really about, like, motivating people and, you know, inspiring people. I totally lost my jacket though. Damn. No, yeah, but, you know, I totally get you, you know, and, yeah, I mean, yeah, dude, I'm on the same board, I mean, because trust me, you know, like, I know what it's like to be older, you know, and feel fucking, you've seen it all. You can, like, I don't know, like, after a while, it's like, the party ends, you know? And you've seen it all, you know, and it's like, all right now, what, like, there has to be different ways in life, you know, where we could find happiness in other ways, you know, like, other than just always living like that, you know, you were talking about telling you my life story. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember it too, right now. So what I'm okay, so I want to say like, like, what, all right, so now this isn't a therapy session, right? This isn't a therapy session, but like, how old were you, like, okay, because I know all of this is probably related to your music at some point, right? Absolutely. So, how old were you, like, your earliest memory? Like, your earliest traumatic memory? Yeah, I would say my dad's death. That would be five. You were five, right? Yeah, that one. But then after I was like, yo, my mom was able to hold on to all four of us at the time for about a whole year. Yeah, my dad was a bread maker at home and all of that, and killed. So they were both addicts. So now she's lost a place. She's still using till she's living with all of us at the van now. Yo, yeah. Yo, like, it's really, really bad. We're on skid row in the van. It's just not good. And I'm remembering this, you know, yo, and I remember that that day when someone was just driving by, you know, my little brother was in the back crying and all that. He just went so I was only six months years old, you know, my dad just passed literally. He's only six months years old and he's crying and my mom's trying to hold him down, you know, like trying to tell him, like, hey, it's okay, relax, try to pump the seat belt. Kids don't don't understand the seat belt, you know, yeah, it's a lady driving by calls the cops, cops pull up. And my mom had all her shirt monitor. Yeah, it was a wrap. They called the ambulance and all of that. And yeah, bro, they came and I remember all of it just sitting outside in a blanket, you know, and it was just crazy because they had all of us separated from my mom. And I got away. I went older by my mom and I was like, and she's like, it's going to be all right. You know, she's like, you guys are going to be okay. You guys are going to get food now. You guys are going to be okay. And she left, you know, she had to go away. And she went to jail for like, like about a year, right? Yeah, she stayed in there for about a year. And they were still letting us have visits. Now we're in the system in DCFS. Yeah, and we're living in Pacoima at this time. Yeah, we're living out there in the San Fernando Valley. Yeah, and we're right there in Pacoima. And yeah, after all that happens, they sent us to foster care. Yeah. And I went to go see her for my seventh birthday, you know, just remembering her like seeing happy birthday to me through the window. I was just like, you know, I never forgot that. And I was like, whoa, like really show shock. And you know, because right there, she just starts telling me she like, pray, pray, whatever you do, like just pray, you know, I was just gonna be okay. I just started learning to pray after that, you know, she's gonna get home. She's gonna make it out. Bro, you know, within time, she went away for like four months, we didn't hear from her after that. Yeah. And she magically was able to get out of jail. She got in a rehab. She went there for like three months, you know, she finished up with she had to finish, you know, and she got on her feet, you know, and then she got her van back. Yeah, she was able to just go start getting back on her feet. Her family finally trusted her. We're still in the system, you know, and we're rounding up on like two years by now, you know, yeah, and we're still in there and you're like, she's just doing better. Now she's motivated, you know, like to see your four little babies, like, you know, in a system setting, you know, like after you did that, you know, and it's just like, I could only imagine, like, you know, like just what she was going through and all of that. And it's just horrible, you know, to even think about it. And it just brought a different person out of her, you know, it brought the person I know today, you know, now it's like so motivated, you know, now she has so much drive, you know, and yes, it took her about like six four months after that. And then she got us out of there and we all were lucky to come home, you know, and we were up in Palmdale and they're moving to Palmdale down the road one day, you know, so it was funny how the world just played back, you know, and just walking through a lot of those old like memories of that city, you know, when my mom was away, you know, like that was one traumatic thing, you know, is like just watching my mom go through all of that, you know, and like none of my siblings remember any of that because they were younger, you know, but to me it was like, I always wondered why, you know, like, why do I remember this, you know, why is this so vivid, you know, but I'll be doing work today, I work, you know, and I'll be able to be able to relate that story to a lot of other moms that lost their kids at the moment that are trying to get back on their feet, you know, that are dealing with that, you know, and it's, I don't know, everything makes sense, you know, one day eventually just takes time. So, so you guys went in the system, but your mom was able to get you guys back out? Yeah, took it like almost two and a half years, yeah. So, but you guys didn't get lost in the system? No, we did for a while, that's the four months she went gone. Yeah, and then that's when she was able to like track us down, yeah, and she was able to find this and then she got out of rehab and then she was able to do all her groundwork. Yeah, yeah, and she went to act in rehab right down the street from Palmdale, you know, and it was crazy because yeah, like we went on in life, yeah, we went on to go just do what we had to do, start playing sports, you know, try to stay in the better lane and, you know, became teenagers and all of that and just moved on to life, you know, and, you know, I got stuck on drugs really at like 14 years old, you know, and just didn't stop until I was like 20, you know, and just got really, really bad. And, you know, next, you know, I'm actually can't check in the act in rehab. That was the only rehab that actually accepted me. I was there for 45 days. Yeah. Oh, that's it. Exactly. Yeah, she did 90 days. I was like, yeah, 45 months, bro. See you. Wow. I did six months. You passed in and shout out to the Sally boys. So I've gone three times. I've only finished once the other two times. Well, one of the times I stayed for a week, the other time I stayed for a month. This last time I went December, 2022, I stayed till January 2023. And I got some, I got some on my butt and I got all mad and I bounce, you know, rehab's hard, bro. I mean, oh, yeah, because 30 45 days, you're like, okay, you're getting sober, you're getting clean, you're getting your, you know, you're getting clarity, you're getting the, you know, better habit back, you're hydrated, you're fed, and then you got all your nutrients. But then like, then like, like, so for salvation army, like you got to work 40 hours a week. So you're on the bed and you go on the community and work, huh? Yeah. So like, so you have a bed. It's a, it's a, it's a house full of like 100 guys, right? You wake up at six in the morning, you go to work across the street at the, at the, at the warehouse every day. There you go. Yeah. You, you, uh, you sort through the clothes, the donations, the salvation army gets, or, you know, or you're like a cook at the house or, you know, you do something at the house, whatever, but you work 40 hours a week, you know? And so after those 40 hours, so you got to wake up at six in the morning, you got to work 40, then you got to work all day, then you got like, uh, therapy, then you have like, um, then you have like a meeting, right? And then, you know, like the first 30 days of, of maybe it's like the actual first 30 days of salvation army. 30 day blackout. Yeah. 30 day blackout. No contact. Yeah. It was like that too. Yeah. It was like that too for the first 30 days. Yeah. You know, and it's like, they keep you so busy like that for a reason to get them exhausted, you know, because that's exhausting, like in attic, who's just been doing nothing all day, like on his bed, you know, or like, yeah, like, it's very exhausting, you know, and but in reality too, it's good for us because a lot of us don't have structure, you know, a lot of us never ever had any that, you know, yo, I was the secretary there. I started moving up. I was doing good for the CA meetings at the rehab. Yo, and I went on a leave for my sister's wedding and I was gone for like three hours extra. Yo, and I got discharged. So that's the only reason why I was there for 45 days. Yo, yes, I got discharged. And when I got discharged, you're right. Rehab's hard because I sat there and thought, am I really going to give up right now and get mad and just crawl this way because it didn't. I was like, hell no, yo, like, there was a reason why those older folks in there believed me and said, this is the one who'll do something, you know, like, and right there's, you know, where I just took my straight to a meeting. Once I hit the streets, you know, I just took my ass to a meeting, you know, I went to a meeting and I didn't have any shit, you know, warehouses were on, calling me out, I had my phone, yeah, I couldn't get work getting nothing. You guys just woke up, bro, I went to the U-Haul in the morning for a lined up, held some people moved, just started making money on the street before I realized it, places started calling back, I got a phone, now I'm getting a job, you know, life builds up slowly, but surely, you know, but all the things that they taught me, I definitely took it, you know, and that's the thing about rehab is like, they'll teach you the blueprint of all of it, but it's like, sometimes it's like, it's just the way they teach it that will turn a lot of these people off, you know, like, people do not want to already be told what to do. So, that's one method I take with me today with, with counseling with a lot of my patients. Yo, I'm not the probation officer, I'm not none of that. I'm just here if you need a talk, if you need anything, let me know, you know, I mean, as simple as that, it's like, no, I don't know your life, you know, I'm not trying to tell you no one how to live, never, because it's like, you know, it's like, people are going through different things every day, you know, so, yeah, definitely. And you mentioned, I don't know if I understood you correct, maybe I got it wrong, but you mentioned a kid, I don't know if you meant you have a kid or you're, you do have a son? Yes, he's four. Okay, yeah, still kind of a toddler. Man, yeah, let me tell you, man, my son was four. When my son was four, 2018, my son was four in 2018. He's nine now. I was going through. Yeah, I was like, weird, I would get sober and I'll fuck up, get sober, fuck up, get sober, fuck up. I didn't really see him a lot for like, probably, and for like the first, like seven years of his life, you know, so cherish, cherish his time right now, bro, because this time is crucial, you know, I see my kid a lot now, and he's, you know, when I don't see him, you know, he's like, dad, I miss you, you know, which is new to me, you know, because he's such a fucking mama's boy. He's such a mama's boy, you know, but, you know, I get to be present in his life now, and so, you know, I'm really grateful for that. So like, that's amazing. Yeah, you know, so, no, thank you. That's just one of the miracles of recovery, one of the miracles of being sober, staying clean, and all that, you know, it wasn't for that, if it wasn't for that, I probably wouldn't have no contact with him, not because his mom wouldn't let me, but because, you know, when, you know, when I drink and use, I'm ashamed, you know, I'm not trying to see nobody. No, yeah, I didn't. So, what's his name? He's named after me, Joseph. Yeah, Joseph Jr. I'm actually a junior. He's actually the third. Oh, Prince Joseph. Let's go. We got some loyalty in the house. Yeah. Okay. That's right. Okay. Yeah, but yeah, you're so right about that, you know, because they're like, they grow so fast, you know. Yeah, I definitely take a lot of pictures, and I just try to be the best I can for him, you know, because it's like, they're like, I'm telling you, I already come from the start. It was like, my dad was gone by five. I didn't really have a lot of opportunities, you know, so I definitely try to always like, take myself to the other shoes, you know, like, other than just the father role, you know, like, definitely try to take myself back to like, what I would have wanted, you know, like, I didn't have the person, I wanted to let me be it for him, then, you know, like, because, yeah, you're right. Like, man, man, I feel that. And then before we finish up, right? So, all right, I want to know what's on your playlist, and who are you listening to right now? So, right. All right. What's your favorite song right now? Favorite artist favorite song? Yeah. Don't think about it. Mac Miller just. What songs? The spans? Yeah. Hey, have you heard red dog music? No, or the weekend? Yeah, hell yeah. Oh, my. I managed to love to get high to that song. That song is so sick. But you got to hear, you got to listen to red dog music. Okay. That shit is so trippy, bro. That shit is so trippy. It is his trippy song, but I can relate to it a lot. And you might be able to relate to it a lot. It's dope. So, Mac Miller. Yeah. The spans, huh? Yeah. I feel like, you know, I just, I just heard that song recently, and obviously it's not you. But I just started bumping it recently too, you know? Yeah, exactly. That's how I was telling my girl. I was like, yeah, it's just crazy too, because it's like, it's a remix. You know, it's like, that's the beauty I love about music. It's like, that song's already an original song, you know, but just the way how he was able to add his flavor to it, you know, like, man, yeah. All right. And so, like, real quick. So, you got to flow in you? I got no music, though. You got to flow in you? Man. Oh, your favorite song, your favorite verse, or your favorite bar, or your favorite hook? Man. You know, it's so funny. I'm telling you, I literally frees out 80% of my songs. I know it is. I know how it is. I know how it is. I know how it is. I know how it is. This is the one that's going to make it out. This is the one that found a different route. I just leave it like that. Okay. First one. All right. And let's, before we go, what's the final message you want to, you want to shout out? Is there anybody want to shout out? Like, what do you want to leave the world with today? Man, you know, so I would say what I'm wearing today, you know, saved the lost souls and you know, that's deeper than what it even just sounds like, you know, but the lost souls is, is everyone out there, you know, like, yo, just because you're rich and you have a good job and all of that, like, are you doing really good and all of that doesn't mean that they might not be lost in society, you know, like a lot of these people are going through a lot, you know, like, you know, so yeah, as you said, like, you know, when I said, I appreciate that. Thank you. Like, you know, like, and even to everyone else's loved ones, you know, like, yo, just be there for them, you know, because everyone already is going, going through a hard time. It's, it's rough out there. Yo, everything's so expensive, you know, and just, you know, be there for everyone. You know, a lot of people are just lost right now. You know, everyone's trying to keep up, you know, and yo, I'm, I definitely just hope everyone makes it out. You know, everyone gets up to the top and just finds what they're looking for, you know, because this world's already not perfect, you know, and as I said, it's, it's harder to do what's right than it is to do what's wrong, you know, so everyone out there working hard, all the kids, all the college students working on the fives, everyone, you know, and even the ones thinking about getting their life together, you know, like, it's man, it's a beauty, you know, it's a beauty in this world, you know, so if I could leave them with anything, you know, just keep going, man, just keep going. You get what you give, you know. Yeah, what you give. That's right. Yeah, what you give. That's one of my other songs. Yeah. We're gonna have to bump that later. Yeah. Hey, I appreciate you for coming, bro. This was dope. You're a good man. You got a good mentality. You got a good mindset. God's pretty sure you keep, if you keep that up, man, you give your, keep giving your life to God, you know, this music industry can be yours. And I look forward to, you know, hearing some of your new stuff. I look forward to seeing you succeed in your, in your career, in this music industry. Quick shout outs. Again, shout out to glaze hash holes. Shout out to the home in urban temp, urban temptation. Shout out to Maddie, CB the brand. Shout out to just everybody. Shout out to Dakarilla Lo's toys.
