Yeah, I think there were. I mean, you couldn't make it up, could you? Declan Rice and Jack Greeley's scoring. I thought Jack Greeley's especially. Do you think he had a point to prove? After getting left out of the Euro squad? I think he did, Robert. I thought he was absolutely outstanding. And do you think, Christopher, Lee Cazley has a chance to get there all permanently? Yeah, absolutely I do, Rob. Do you know what? I actually thought, as an audition in his first game, I think he passed with wine colours. Really good first half, just second half. You know, fell a little bit flat, but let's put it out there. What are you thinking? Was he more adventurous than Gareth South's game? England and Ireland fans are numbered to college. 08085 909693. Mackelsfield won again, Christopher at the top of the league. Well, let's not make it about Little or Mackelsfield. Who else you're here from tonight, Christopher? Well, I want to hear from Welsh fans. I thought it was a really positive performance under Craig Bellamy against Turkey. Were the Welsh fans impressed with the style of football? Scotland fans, 3-2 loss against Poland. But I thought, do you know what? Steve Clark, after the Euros, he got absolutely slammed, didn't he? But I actually thought they performed pretty well, conceded some soft goals. Here's one for you, Rob. Lee Cazley didn't sing the National Anthem. Does anybody really care about that? I mean, I don't get what all the sort of who heart about it was. He was an Irish international, chose not to sing the English National Anthem. So what? Why are people getting angry and offended by that? I don't know. And they were games, of course, in the EFL Rob. Not just your Mickey Mouse League. And with Big Wings, Rexham, Rexham who go top of England and Doncaster, they'd be high-flying, chilling him to go top in league. They certainly did, Christopher, whoever you support, whatever level you watch your football call us on 08085 909693. Let's go straight to the calls, Christopher. It's Callum, how are you, Callum? Good evening, Robbie. Good evening, Chris. How are you doing? Good evening, Callum. Hi, Callum. I just want to start the show of being ever so boring and ask that before everyone calls in, we all take a step back and just calm down. This is one game. And I think that the first half of Brilliant, I think that the way that they played was the intensity was fantastic. The runs were brilliant. But I think that the second half is a little bit slower. It was what we had seen from a normal England performance. I think that the way that they were drilled, I mean, Chris, I have to start as well by also saying, "I owe you an apology." I called over the summer, and I was calling for Southgate head and said that I wanted a well-drilled team. A team that were well-coached and they looked like that in every single game. They were ready to go for it. And you asked me, "Did I feel that England were going to go to the final?" And I said, "Chris, not a chance mate." And you were indeed right. But ultimately, the point still stands that we needed a team that don't rely on individual moments of Brilliant, but they're incredibly well-drilled so that you can rely on each player to play that part. And what England was fantastic enough for us is a little bit slower in the second half. And we need to, like with any job, I mean, you look at what's happening in the Premier League around Europe, top clubs are struggling to link top managers. It's about a process. It's about making sure that, especially in the England job, where it cycles the players, that you get someone that can look after that group of players for the entire process. Don't judge it on one game. No, I totally agree with that, and I think Rob does as well. But, I mean, over the course and distance, I mean, we don't have to look back. But Gareth Southgate was appointed in a similar fashion. It's the second most successful England manager of all time. There's no reason why Lee Karsley shouldn't get the job if he continues in this vein, though. Is there not? Yeah, I think I'd agree with you on that. I think in terms of, again, the first half, I don't think that I've seen. There were bits and pieces that I saw in the touchline that I loved. I loved the way that Karsley was communicating with the players during the first half. There was a moment as well where he was like crouching down, and Grealish was challenging. There was a little bit of context, but he was watching the ball. He was watching the intensity of the ball, and he was pointing at the forward pass. The moment that a player took the ball, he knew where he wanted the ball, and he was communicating really clearly. And I think England fans, in my sense, is anyway, that they want a communicator. They want someone that's going to say, "We are in this for 90 minutes. We have got to get the win every single time." And I loved that. But there may be others that can do that. For example, I thought that when Southgate, when his time had come, I think there was an opportunity for everyone to take a moment and to just remember where England were when Southgate inherited that job and just look at the quality of the culture and the structure that he was an enormous part of. There was a time to appreciate that. And I think that there were moments where Karsley said that I absolutely loved, but again, it's a process. I want to jump to a conclusion that he's absolutely the right man, because especially England fans, we love a knee-jerk reaction. We love to say, "This is exactly what we needed after 45 minutes of football." Great job for plenty more to come. Thank you so much for the call, Callum, '08, '25, '99, '69. You know, Chris, I was probably guilty of this. When people were mentioning Lee Karsley, for England's job, I was like, "Now, why was I like that? What was my subconscious thoughts? Was it because, you know, Lee Karsley wasn't a big name?" You know, I think I was giving that myself, because now, you know, somebody wrote a piece for me yesterday on my callum. And when you think about it, you mention it there. Gareth Southgate was in similar position. It's great to promote from within. They'll understand how the FA works. He's got the younger players done great, you know, when in the Euros, a major tournament he was involved in, wouldn't it? So then I've locked the reflected. Why would, if Lee Karsley in these games does really well, why would you not give him? Well, I mean, you only have to look at Spain in the Euros. The La Fuenta. Yeah. Similar role, which he had, and, you know, that transition into the senior job. That worked. Argentina at the World Cup, not a big name, getting the last World Cup, not a big name, getting their managerial role and getting over the line. So it's about the ability to do the job. And that has to look. I mean, it's not about the ability, Chris, to sing the National Anthem. That's nonsense. Judge Karsley on his team's performance on the pitch, not whether he sings the National Anthem or not. That is nonsense, as you said. But how is all this snowball? It's headlines. Come on. I mean, it's, I actually, I can't believe it, waking up today and seeing some of the nonsense talked about Lee Karsley, played for Ireland, decided, you know, not to sing the National Anthem. Who really cares about that? Is that part of the job description? You know? I don't know. You know? It's his ability to go. I can't remember, Robert. Did you get to sing it? Did you get to sing it when you had your, like, half a cap? I did. The subsing it. The subsing it. I don't think Fabio Capello never sung the English National Anthem. But, you know, was this big funeral then? You know, there's this... The subsing it when you were in the squad. Oh, wait, 25, 9096, 9th, let's... That's good. I mean, I've been right the last few weeks. Let's go to Ryan. Now, are you, Ryan? All right, Robert, are you going? All right, Ryan. Hello, man. First of all, hopefully Karsley enjoys the next three games because Eddie Hal takes over after that. So, secondly, Eddie or Singh National Anthem didn't worry about that. It would have been the Blaine races. That National Anthem is stupid because she's fought on. I don't care. The first 20 minutes today, I really, really enjoyed it. Greenish playing is a proper 10. Gordon playing, which should have been playing New Rose. I think Robert, you said he should as well. But, he saw today that first 30 minutes through a brilliant boat. Boat. Has Harry Kane got it written in this contract? I don't listen to any manager because I don't know if you've heard Karsley on Thursday. He said, I don't want to see Harry Kane playing 8, 10 or whatever. He's a 9 and he has to stay up front. Harry Kane wasn't listening to that because again today, after the first 30 minutes, Trent Alexander on was getting the ball looking up. Kane was standing beside him. In the second half, he was eating up and even deeper and he was getting in everybody's way. Harry getting in, Bryce's way, getting in the midfield players' way. And he was just, whenever we had the ball, nobody breaking forward. It really couldn't take him, Harry Kane. Suck is the same. We looked the second half, we looked like a Southgate team. He left Sucker on too long. He left Harry Kane on too long. And the lads in midfield, who I thought were fantastic for 55, 60 minutes. Tired. But again, he left them on too long. We brought subs on. We took a game over again. And now young boy that came on is the Angel Gomez. I've never seen him play before. He is some player, by the way. Well, I mean, you only saw him for a few minutes, Ryan. I saw what I lost. I'll tell you what I did see. When he got the ball, he got the ball, he looked up and he went forward. That's all I need to see. Yeah, he did look neat and tidy. So, I mean, you started this call by mentioning Eddie Howe. Talk to us about that. Well, he did interview today by Eddie Howe. Well, I've seen this, I didn't see his interview today, but I have seen. I want to look at the interview today, Chris. I'm not going to wind you up or anything. He's virtually steady, sped up in Newcastle because they put him on an interview a couple of weeks ago, and he said, I would have rather had this in the transfer window. I'd rather have that. They have come back at him in the Northeast saying, well, you know, you did have a choice of players and he's just completely backward. He's saying, look, when he's friends who are on the board. I'm not going to mention the names, but when sorry, and then we're on the board, he was getting support. Now he's not getting that support. Yeah, and they're stavely when she was on the board. When he came in, when she's left, he feels as though he's being let down. He used some words for the first time. I feel let down. And I just think now he's just come to the stage where he's sitting in England. Come and get us. Do you know what? I do go for Eddie Howe, Chris. Would the, if I was at the FA, I don't think I'd ever get a job at the FA. If you were, but if you were. Yeah, I would. I would, I think. Jeff Lee Kharzi wins the next two or three. Would you still go for Eddie Howe? You've been, been, got next Finland. I think that, I think that Eddie, Eddie Howe is furthered. He'd be ahead in the pecking order. I think Ryan, would you agree than Lee Kharzi is? I just want to know if Robbie thinks that, do you think if he wins the rest of the game drop, hand on heart, he'll win it. He'll get the job. Why would you not give it him? Because you're not playing. You're playing against Finland on Tuesday. If we don't win that, there's so much suddenly wrong. And if the game after that, we win that. Well, hang on a minute. Chris was such an advocate of Gareth Southgate. They lost to Iceland before the last tournament. Yeah. Well, now we have to go short again. But Robbie, I want to tell you this. That's weak. I saw Gold in the month. I saw Gold in the season. And I'll tell you what, your wife will be a fantastic footballer. Practice in Charlie. Sean Charlie, how'd they do that? Because that's one of the best goals I'll see for a long time. First, Charlie, well done. It's a rare fact. Thank you, Ray. Just on that, Rob. I mean, it's an interesting debate. And I know you don't like to answer. But would you accept that Eddie Howe would be further ahead in the pecking order? But this, I think Ryan's brought up, you know, I think it's fascinating what's going on at Newcastle at this moment in time. But from the outside, you know, I'm not the inside at Newcastle. You've got good sources. Whoever you are. You know, like me, I was going to let the Spurs jump. But do not. If I'm a Newcastle fan and Ryan is. But there are alarm bells ringing because he seemed to make Mark Gay. His number one target. They didn't get that over the line. He spoke about concerns in the summer that they weren't in alignment. The club hierarchy and Eddie Howe. So, I mean, it wouldn't be a great surprise to see Eddie Howe as the next England manager. As far as I could see, Newcastle fans must be concerned because what happens next at Newcastle? Oh, eight, eight, five, nine, nine, six, nine, three, Anthony, how are you? Yeah, please. It was a good performance. Like everyone said so far, the first half. Very, very good. Give it a mark out of 10. Give first half a mark out of 10, Anthony. Eight. Eight at a 10 second half. Six and a half, seven, maybe. Seven. To 15 out to 20. Yeah. I mean, we take off off the gas second half. I think he may well even rotate Tuesday night. I mean, declaration look like he probably got knocked. He suspended anyway next weekend for Arsenal. Give him a rest. Saka played 90 minutes tonight. Give him a rest again. He gets another opposition so he can have a look at others. Why did you make a Declan Rice's score a wonderful goal, didn't he? But he didn't really. His celebrations were a bit muted, weren't they? What? I think that's out of respect. Because he scored against West Ham as well last season. And he refused to celebrate in front of their fans, which I think just shows the sort of where the ears. He's got a lot of respect for West Ham football club and West Ham fans. And it's obviously the same with Republic of Ireland. He once represented them and he switches allegiance to England. So he did what he felt was the right thing. He didn't celebrate. So fine. His goals, great. What would you have done? What would you have done? Anthony? I don't think I would just, I don't think others are celebrated. Rob, did you ever score against any of your football club? Did you ever score? Yeah, I celebrated, yeah. Why not? I think it's nonsense. No, I think it's not going to be. You don't celebrate. Yeah, it's just the goalkeeper, Chris. That's why I wouldn't have celebrated. Why? The goalkeeper's goalkeepers have scored. Anthony? Well, yeah, I know, yeah. Which one? Which was your strongest side to dive to? Anthony, right or left? I'd played Bob Wright. Yeah, my left hand side was my weakest. I just stuck everything to your left. That's if you'd have got another cap. No, I'm not allowed to leave it there. Leave it there. Thank you. Did you ever celebrate against your former clubs? No, not really. I scored for Blackburn against Norwich and my return to Carol Road after four minutes. Didn't really celebrate. Which we didn't really celebrate. I just jogged back. But I got used to scoring so many goals. [LAUGHTER] Go. And against, sorry, Celtic against Blackburn. You're a for cup. You weren't at Blackburn then. No, you wouldn't have... You and the Premier League, yeah. Just landed on the Port Vale, I think. [LAUGHTER] Shaz, how are you? [LAUGHTER] Shaz, are you there, Shaz? Yeah. Yeah, can you hear me? How are you, Shaz? Yeah, I'm all right. How are you? Good, thanks. Yeah, good, good. Great show, great show. Thank you. Right, I think good performance, good result. But I think we shouldn't get carried away. I don't think Lee causally, two things. I don't think Lee causally should get the permanent job. I think we need a big manager, top manager. Somebody like Klopp, somebody like even Pep, we could ask. Yeah, but I don't think they're going to do it right now, are they? So, you would say the Pep's not going to do it. But you can ask. You can ask. Well, they say no. I would suggest probably they would say no. I mean, yes. I mean, we need to find a top five manager. So who then? So Pep and Klopp would probably not at this moment. Right? So go there. Yeah. Who's next? I'm sure you could ask anybody. You can ask anybody. But I'm sure, right now, and Chelsea would probably be a no. That's what I feel. That's what I feel. Okay. So give us some names. So Pep and Klopp would probably be a no. I think Chris might agree on that. Right now. So who, after them too, who would you ask? Well, I mean, at the top of my head, you can't answer any top names. So why, you're not given to Lee. So if Lee causally. The two managers that are sort of are Klopp and Guardiola. So why would you not give a causally then? So right now, if Kelsey doesn't believe we were next to him. He hasn't done it for me at the highest level at the moment. Right, Chas. He hasn't done it. Chas. So would you accept them? We had this, I spoke to, I think it was Brian, one of the earlier call was that. The Spanish manager who won the Euros was not a household name. Worked in the under-21s, did well with the younger age groups. Got the job, Spain win the Euros, playing the best brand of football. Look at Argentina at the Qatar World Cup. Lionel Scolone. Young manager, really, I'm not saying it wasn't. People hadn't heard of him. He had a, you know, a reasonable playing career. But you wouldn't say like a top name like Pep Guardiola or Jürgen Klopp. So if it's good enough for Argentina and it's good enough for Spain, why can Li Kharzli not make that step up? Yeah, because those countries have won the World Cup, they've done it. Well, England have won the World Cup. Yeah, those players are technically good and everything. We need somebody, we need somebody who can, you know, who's done it at the highest level, won the Champions League, won the big trophies and who is technically good, tactically good. And so we can, you know, we go to the players, we go to the basics, right? And so we can go and, you know, go one step further. Right, Shaz, but if you're saying all this, right, you know, I get your argument. I think Rob gets your argument. I think people at home listening get your argument. But you've got to give us, you know, give us some names then. Because, you know, Rob has said, you know, Pep's not going to take it at this moment in time. Neither is Jürgen Klopp. So, you know, it's behind the sky. Look, there's so many, you can ask ask us on Wengar. I don't know, I'm just saying these, you know, you can ask us on Wengar. He's not in the joke. But that's the role of SA. They have to, you know, look at that, who's available, ask people, you know, Eddie Howe, Lee Cosley, I don't think Eddie Howe done well in the first season at Newcastle. Are you struggling now? I wouldn't say he's not struggling. Eddie's already started. Eddie's already started. You know, he's 23 games. I don't think you can judge him after three games. But, yeah, what I'm saying is he's probably not. OK, then, OK, then, right now then. Charles, would you give him Artetta? Well, England, you know, I mean, you know, I think you're going to win the league season. No, OK. But you said you want to give us some of these one Chapman's leagues, one trophy's, one X, Y and Z. Would you give it Artetta? Is Artetta said I wasn't a job. Would you give it him? Yeah. Well, well, then again, so he's not but what Artetta is when they wake up. Look how, look how, how he has improved Arsenal. Well, look at that one a minute. Artetta, Artetta hasn't won the Premier League. No. Artetta hasn't won the Champions League. That's what you said the prerequisite would be to be England manager. No, but you guys, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, I didn't throw the name Artetta. You guys are. No, we just asked you and you said, yes, you would. Yes. Oh, I would give Artetta. Are you telling me then it's causally the same as good as Artetta? Well, he's what he's won a competition. He won the, the, the, was it the Twitter or the Twitter or the Twitter? Yeah. He won the Euro and 21. What do you mean? Look, Mourinho has won two or three Champions League. That doesn't mean anything. Would you give, would you give it to Mourinho? Would you give it to him? Of course, I would, I would stop supporting England if Mourinho gets the job for it. He's, he's won Premier League. He's won Champions League. He's won everything and you wouldn't give it to him. Yeah. No, I wouldn't, because I don't like his style of football. So you're quite so negative then. So, so there's probably a problem. I'm giving you the reason, I'm giving you the reason for why I wouldn't want Mourinho. I've given you the reason why I won Artetta. But this is it. But your reason was winning big trophies and Artetta hasn't done that yet. What about these ones? He's won for you. Would you give it? If, if you were the head of the FA, would you give it? Poster togli. Randa football. One trophies, one trophies, one trophies. I think you can stay at Tottenham and concede a few goals. And especially next week against Arsenal. And I don't think he's going to be, he would be better than Gareth Southgate. I say that. But I wouldn't give it to him. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better to watch. They're better. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. They're better than Arsenal. Give us a score line for next week. Arsenal. Arsenal. Arsenal. We're going to get to the end of the week. We're going to get to the end of the week. We're going to get to the end of the week. We're going to get to the end of the week. We sat through the euros in Gareth Southgate. I thought a lot of the criticism towards him was so, so harshly. First half performance today, excellent. He needs to be given longer and we can judge him. I'm a really poor, aren't they? I'm a poor. Would they be a mid-table championship side? That team they put out today? They would be. They would be. Come on, Robert. A bit more respect. They would be. They would be. In your opinion. Okay. Do you know things? Well, I'm just saying it. I think sometimes you have silly throwaway comments. Your team's doing well. I don't know. You take your team in Northern Division VII is doing well. You have stepped into a managerial role, but you go up a level. You'll be found out, David. You know it. We all know it. The listeners know it. Rob. Rob, how are you, Rob? Rob, how are you? Good. Good. Thanks, Rob. It's just, it blows my mind ever so slightly that people are talking about Eddie Hall. I've not been against him. He's a perfectly decent champion who has come to cross. I listened to his interviews. I'm interested in football generally. He seems like a perfectly decent bloke. He seems like a perfectly decent manager as well. He's done decent things wherever he's been. But if I was in the FA or England and I was looking to a point at manager, there's three categories that I would look at. I'd look at the best in-house, Richard B. Lee Karlsley. The best out of work, Richard B. Klopp and the best in work, Richard B. Guardiola. If you were to look at the best in-work managers, we'd respect Eddie Hall would be a long way down that list of the best in-work managers. So I don't understand that at all why people are talking about him. Right. So just on your lists, though. So you have three different lists. But why do you have three different categories? Three different categories. Three different lists. But you don't need to have three different categories, do you? So it's about pecking order. I actually think it's a really interesting debate about Lee Karlsley. We had the earlier call as on. We spoke about the Argentina manager, Lionel Scolone, and Dilla Fuente, the Spanish manager. So actually promoting from within makes a lot of sense. But there is also the argument, which I think stands. I mean, you're not mad on Eddie Hall. Neither are you dismissing what he's achieved in terms of him being a manager. But I think it's an interesting debate whether you'd have how ahead of Karlsley. I think Eddie Hall at this moment in time would be a safer bet than Lee Karlsley. But I'm not dismissing Lee Karlsley. Would you take ten hogs into being a manager? Because ten hogs achieved a lot more than his managerial career than he had. No, I wouldn't take Erich ten. I was based on what I've seen over the last couple of years. No, for me, I go for Karlsley. But I'd like to say... You're both the question, Rob. Rob, let me ask you both the question. Is it Karlsley's to lose? And if they'd have lost today, England, I guarantee these four lines would it be saying Karlsley can't manage him. So the pressure of him to win game is a football in a style like the first half. So he has to win every game. Because if they lose to Finland and we did a six or six after Finland, everybody, I would suggest, or 99% would for Karlsley. Is that fair? No, I don't think... Well, it's a fair comment that the phone lines would be full of people saying he's not the right man for the job. But I don't think that that would be fair. Because if you go... If they have a point, Karlsley, they've got to give him a reasonable period of time in order to show what he does. Personally, that is what I would do. But if we were to look for the marriages that were in work, I just can't see how Eddie Howe is anywhere near the top of the list. So why would you give Eddie Howe, Chris, because Rob makes some decent points. Why would you right now give Eddie Howe? I think that over a long period of time has proved himself to be a more than capable manager. He's been through a tricky period. Do you think the first job, which he actually got, Rob, and saving Bournemouth, keeping them in the football league, working them up through the leagues. Phenomenal went into Newcastle when they'd been on a bit of a downer under Steve Bruce and transformed the club. Really transformed the club with a brand of football. I think he ticks a lot of boxes. I've got a lot of respect for Lee Karlsley as well. But at this moment in time, I think Eddie Howe would be ahead of Lee in the pecking order. But I'm not dismissing what Lee Karlsley has done and achieved. In terms of the thing you said about is that Lee Karlsley is to lose. If the FA have decided that somebody who they feel is more capable, that doesn't mean Lee Karlsley has necessarily lost it. But I agree with you in terms of... But it shouldn't happen like this, but if England drew with Finland, then there would be a pile-on, wouldn't there? Yeah, people would say, "But that wouldn't be fair on Lee." No, it wouldn't. It wasn't. Oh, eight, eight, five, nine, nine, six, nine, three, speaking of Lee Karlsley earlier, John Murray spoke to Lee Karlsley. Lee Karlsley. Lee Karlsley played one-one-one. Did you like what you saw? I really did, yeah, at times I thought we were very good. I think you always want it to be better. But I'm weary the fact that we've had four sessions. But we've seen glimpses and we've seen more than enough of what we can potentially do in the future as well. So, all in all, it's been a good day for us. Do you think that's what caused the sort of drop-off, as it were, in the second half? I'm not sure if it caused the drop-off or not. When you're too near up away from home and you've got the ball and the opposition can't get the ball, I think we've probably spoke to you yesterday about that control. But I think sometimes you need the opposition to come towards you, to create gaps and to create spaces. And I think we can be more confident in doing that. And I think that's something that we can definitely work on in the future. That first half performance, where do you feel you most saw your mark? I'm not sure. I spoke about it. Yes, I won't call this my style or my way of playing. You know, always put the players first and playing to their strengths. And I think what you've seen is really, really talented players in effective areas, which we try to work on and make them aware that these, where the spaces could be. You know, ultimately you've got the confidence of playing to that space, receive the ball and face-forward and then try and create chances. And it's funny how football works, isn't it? Lee Karsley takes charge of England, here in Dublin, and Declan Rice and Jack Greeley score the goals. I mean, it's funny, isn't it? I mean, obviously, I've been in the job now. I think it's two weeks. You know, when I saw the draw a while back, I thought that's going to be a good game. That's a pinch myself at one point. I'm here and I'm in charge of England. And like I said earlier, it was a really proud day for not only myself. It was great that my family here as well to share the opportunity and the trust that the FA has placed in me. And of course, part of the welcome to being England manager was, I'm sure you'll be aware, the furore that surrounded your not-singing of the anthem in certain quarters. So, you know, that is life as the England manager, isn't it? You'll be aware of that. Yeah, definitely. I was in there this morning. You know, I found it a little bit strange because, you know, today is the proudest day of definitely my coaching career and my career in general, you know, to lead an England team out in Dublin. You know, it was something that I'll never forget. It's been a weird couple of days in terms of, you know, a lot you've just spoke about, you know, deck scored, jack scored. I'm in charge of my head coach. It was great that all my family here today as well. But are you baffled by that, bemused by it? What are you? I don't think I'm anything to be honest. I fully respect everyone's opinion. You know, I was thinking about it. I went for Walt's morning and I was thinking about it. I went to, I'm in my debut for Ireland. I think it was '97, you know, and didn't see the National Anthem when I was playing. So, I'd have been 20, 20 odd and I never have ever, you know, whether that's with the under 21s, under 19s or playing for Ireland. But I fully respect both anthems and on and on which it means to people. And I respect the fact if you want to sing it, you know, sing as loud as you can. But if you don't, I respect that as well. But I think this is, this is just one of the things that I've just got to accept. So, I'm not, I'm not put off by it or, you know, I don't feel like I've been hardly done, partially done by. You know, it's just one of the things. Well, congratulations today and well done on the winning start. John Murray with Lee Carsey. Christopher, what do you make of that? Yeah, I thought he spoke brilliantly. Yeah, I agree. I just, I mean, my personal opinion, you hear Lee Carsey talk about the proudest day of his career and you get buffoons. The food out there who are trying to sour that we heard him talk very eloquently. He, you know, he respects people's opinions. And, you know, it is a matter of choice. So, I thought he handled that situation really, really well. I just, I just, I just don't get the nonsense. Nonsense. Nonsense. Absolute nonsense. Oh, eight, eight, five, nine, nine, six, nine, three, Paul. How are you? Yeah, very good. Very good. Good, Paul. What did you make of it Paul today then? I thought that the first half was very good. And I think it's what the Spartans have been crying out for. When we wanted to get rid of Southgate, it was a negativity in the backwards kind of not pushing and not attacking. And first off, he did that. He was, he was, his team set up by the way were faster on the attack. We were only playing the island. It's not like you're playing the big team. We've been to games where Slovakia in the, in the Euros, we weren't really attacking them. There's plenty of smaller teams that would, Southgate wasn't pushing. And I think Carsley seems to have got us set up to attack. Second off was professionally shut down. And we didn't sit back. We sat back with Southgate. It was more professional, but it was doing up shop. So you, you think, I mean, your first impressions and Lee Carsley said in the interview with John Murray, he's had four sessions. I mean, that's, that's, you know, that's basically. Nothing to work with the players. But your, your feeling on it from what you saw today was, he's going to be a more adventurous manager than Cara Southgate. I, I think it was a good, a good game today. I think it was the way you set up and the way you push. I was, I go with the games on Devastate. It wasn't there today to be honest. I like to work. But I'm going on Tuesday night. I'd be going Finland away and we're in Greece at home. I was in Russia. I was in France. It was in, I go all the time. And I, I, I Southgate got some great tournament runs and it was an awesome football. And it was, it's changed it around from when Hudson, what he did in France. But it's, if we needed to attack the plays, we've got the moment to attack. It's an attacking team. And it seems to, it brought Creeley back in, which I think he should have gone to the Euros. So that whole, so that whole midfield area and, and, you know, Rob was a decent midfielder as well. It's interesting. No, no Palmer, no Foden, no Bellingham today. But the balance, the balance was pretty good, wasn't it? There's a lot of pace there. And I think the work is done with the under 21s. They've won things. So some of those players are going to be coming through into the first team. And you know, I've already had good connections and they'll be working well with them. So I think it, I don't see what Eddie Hal brings to the table. If they were going down the Eddie Alwood. Chris would give it him. Chris would give it him. What's he won? What's Eddie Hal won? And, and you say like it's not at the big level. You want someone who's done the Champions League or the Premier League or, but he has not done any of them levels. It's not, it's, it's, it's. No, but I mean, so Lee Karlsley's won and under 21 championships. Don't go to win it. Yep, absolutely, but, but you, but I think it's fair to say that in terms of managerial career, where Lee Karlsley is at and Eddie Hal is at this moment in time. They're at, they're at different levels. I'm not, I'm not dismissing Karlsley. My, my feeling is if, if Eddie Hal makes himself available for the job and, and with what's going on at Newcastle, that clearly something isn't right. Eddie Hal doesn't seem, doesn't seem happy. I think if Eddie Hal says, I want the job, I think you'll get it. That, that, that's, that's my opinion. I don't, I don't think it should have gone this long. If Eddie Hal wants the job, he should put his name forward before the start of the season. Not because he's now, he's not happy at Newcastle. Well, I can go put my name forward for England. Has he not, has he not earned that right? Paul? Uh, I think Arthur's doing the right. If he's doing a good job and the games are there and he's, and he's turning the team around. I think he gets the job. Eddie Hal is a, he's probably next choice, I think, for me. But, and you, you go down the clock, Guardiola and the big, Mourinho, the big name roofs. And I don't know if they're, what? I think it manages the players that we've got coming forward at the younger age. I think with the youth coming through is, I think Harry Kane hasn't got many more. Maybe he might get to America, he might not. Paul, thank you so much. When were you, Rob, I'm always interested to get your opinion. Eddie Hal or Lee Carsley, who would, who would you, would you choose if you had the choice? Do you know what, mate? We've got two hours tomorrow and I'll have to give you a strong, long answer. Because I know if I do a short little answer, you'll, you'll come in and then you'll get a sound bite. You know, so again, let me think about that overnight, but two hours tomorrow, six to eight. And we always have, we always have a little bit of... Five to seven, not even six to eight, Chris, sorry about that. Yeah, I don't even know the time. No, I don't know. What one are here from listeners? We have SAS, don't we, this Sunday. What is your, what, in the world of football? What doesn't have to be in the world of football? Sensational, amusing, shocking. Let us know yours and we'll read out. Yes. The better ones. Yeah, tomorrow evening. Wow. Five and seven. Now you're producing the show as well. Kevin, you're an island fan. How are you, Kev? I'm good, I'm good, Rob, yeah. I'm good. Come on, Kevin. Come on, Kevin. What did you make of, I mean, all the, all the national anthem stuff today and Lee Carsey, where are you on that first of all, Kevin? First of all, all I can say is Lee Carsey is a former Republic of Ireland player, right? Went and done a job with England under 21s, came up. Donnie's coaching the whole lot. He won a European championship with England under 21s. I can't understand what all the fuss is about if the guy doesn't sing a national anthem. I just can't figure out if he's won and matches, he shouldn't have to sing a national anthem means an anthem as long as he's doing a job. But I know a lot of people are, they don't think he's capable of the job. But how many under 21 European championships as England won? You know what I mean? That's my whole point. If he's a good enough coach, it shouldn't matter if he sings a national anthem or not. And then you couldn't make it up because you're Declan Rice and Jack Greelish scoring the goals. Declan Rice, muted celebration. Jack Greelish, not so muted. Does it bother you? Do you care about that? My opinion on that is Declan Rice, I think, with Ireland management, I think they made a little slip through that. But that's life, you just have to step up and move on. I thought he was very professional after he scored. Greelish, that's Jack Greelish. But what I couldn't understand about Jack Greelish, who I think is a really, really good folklore, I couldn't understand why England left him at home this summer. This guy can go past people, he's going to get fouled. I just thought he would have added a wee something more to things this year. That's been honest with you, because he's a really good player. Okay, celebrate it. But look, they made their choices and that's life. You just move on. That's the fast dance. I think a lot of people agree with you on that. Just on Ireland, where are you at this moment in time? It didn't happen under Stephen Kenny, didn't it? New manager in place. Do you think that Ireland are going to make progression under this new guy? Well, to tell you, it's got a few guys, he's got John O'Shea in his backroom team. But the fact that he's given players a chance, I think it's up to him to mould the team that he wants himself. The nation's league is ideal for him to do that there. Out of that there, he can build a squad for the next championship. That's my opinion. Hopefully he can do his job. Because I think, yeah. Thank you. Listen, Kevin, thank you so much for the call, Kevin. Let's talk about Wales tomorrow, Chris. Don't know if you watch Craig Bellamy's, Neil, Neil, against Turkey. I thought they played really well. Unbelievable, Neil, Neil. What a result. So, we're on 5 till 7, and you want the listeners sensational, amusing, shocking. And Chris, we'll read them out. Thank you all for listening.
