In the UK's biggest football debate, your teams, your views. Get ready, this is 606 with Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage on Five Life. Welcome to your Sunday 606. Your football scoring show has Liverpool's slot in three past Manchester United at Old Trafford. Manchester United lose it, nice Robbie, now here they come again. Salah with a chance, shoots in, there he is, his customary goal. Here at Old Trafford for Liverpool, the boy-marrow celebration. Mo Salah makes it three-nil Liverpool. Oh Christopher, what did you make of that then? What did you make of that? I thought Manchester United were embarrassed by their biggest rivals in their own backyard. There's a massive goal between the teams. You talk about Manchester United at the start of the season. Has there been any progression? Rob. Manchester United Liverpool fans, callers, away to eight, five, nine, nine, six, nine, three. Earlier the air came out of Big Andes ball, Ladson James' Park. You've taken Murphy bursting towards the penalty area, it's a great run on seven, six, nine, six, down. Brilliant catch, attacking goal from Newcastle United. It's Alexander, he's like he's scored it. But every single player in a black and white shirt has gone to take it, Murphy, because that was brilliant, that was unselfish, that was Newcastle two, Tottenham. This is BBC Radio Five Life, call free, 08085, 909693, text. 85058, takes will be charged at your standard message raise. Plus, see our privacy notice, BBC.co.uk/fivelife. So Christopher Spurs dominated the second hour, but it was Newcastle who got the win after sitting deep. Do you think teams might be working out of Big Andes ball? Yeah, and look, Newcastle got away with one a bit today. I don't think that Tottenham this season have got the points, their performances deserve, Rob. It's as simple as that. Andes ball is great to watch, Rob. I know, I know, I know. He apologized, he apologized. It's great to watch. Wow, wow, Newcastle fans were happy with the lack of signage, Christopher. But can they push for the top four? Erm, not the top four, do you know what? I find Newcastle really interesting, Rob, just based on stuff Eddie Harris said in the summer. I don't think he's in alignment with the with the hierarchy. Let us know what you think though Newcastle fans. Andes Spurs fans, the number is OA25, 909693. Ooh, you were a big game today, Christopher. Well, the biggest RB of the weekend, Celtic Rangers wasn't a contest, Rob. Celtic so-so dominant, could have been a cricket score, nearly was. A cricket score. Can Rangers really push Celtic this season? Rob, what do you think? I'll ask you a question, right? Celtic could win the league by 15 to 20 points this year. The big question I'm going to ask you, can Aberdeen finish second? Come on. Serious question? I'm asking, you're asking to see this question. Aberdeen can't finish second. You'll be a mischievous, sir. You'll upset Rangers fans, Rob, I know you're a big brainer. I'm asking a question. No, they can't. Let's hear from Rangers fans, do you agree with Rob? Can Aberdeen finish in front of you? OA25, 909692. Who else should he from tonight, Christopher? But just Chelsea fans, how they feel, uh, lot's happened as an increases in their length with everybody under the sun, but are drawn today against Palace after Walloping Wolves last week. Should you have done better than that today, Chelsea fans? Are you happy with Mariska and where the team is heading? And yesterday, Christopher, obviously, we went on last night. What did you make of yesterday's and games in the Premier League? Sean, I used to send it off for Declan Rice. What did you make of it, Christopher? Um, Declan Rice, I've got a sign. I did think it was, it was soft, but to the letter of the law, should you be sent off of that? I get why he was, but that seems a bit OTT. With regards to Everton, I don't think Rob have ever seen such a capitulation. A team so dominant, so comfortable for Everton fans. Let us know what you think. Are you happy with Sean Deish? I think they'll still be fine, Rob. If they keep Sean Deish and hold, then, uh... We're here until 8 o'clock, the number two call is 08-85-996-93. Liverpool, absolutely demolished. Manchester United, at all, Trafford. Ryan, how are you? Hi, Chris. Sorry, hi, Robbie. Hi, Chris. Hi, Ryan. How are you doing? Yeah, very, very good. Thanks. I mean, you must be absolutely delighted with what you've seen this afternoon. Yeah, and not just this afternoon. I think the first three games of the season, I'd just look to know what all these pundits who had Liverpool with this massive drop-off and man united with this massive over-kick. I'd look to know what all they are. I know one of them was commenting on TV this afternoon, but... I mean, I think Ryan Gravenberg has become this player that I think all of the poor fans thought he could be. He's so comfortable in the middle of the park. Today, he was absolutely brilliant. It's obviously a different style that we employ now. We're way more methodical. We don't have this kind of gunkaw approach. You can pour it. It's going to take a lot of getting used to. I think muscle memory, as soon as veg, or one of the defenders steps out, you're just so used to that ball going wide, passing side and then just going to one of the wide players. But that isn't the case now. It's just so much more methodical. And you can tell the players have to buy into it, but just at that middle of the park for the first time in the long term, just looks really solid. And I just don't think Man United really copes well after all today. What do you think? No, listen, I mean, myself and Rob watched the game. I thought that there was... I agree with everything you said about Manchester United and people talking them up. And then Liverpool, I think, in fairness to people... or pundits talking about Liverpool because of the change of manager. I think it's natural, you know, for people maybe to think... Did you have him in the top of Manchester, people? Yeah, I did, yeah. I had Liverpool as... Yeah, I did, but you know, managers need time to get there, to implement their ideas and way of playing. And the thing I would say, Ryan, is, aren't a slot has gone in and had a couple of months' work at the most. Eric Tenharg has now been at Manchester United for a long, long time. And he has made so many signings. I don't know how many signings he's made. He has spent an absolute fortune. And you would think, watching that game today, it was the other way round where Tenharg had just gone into a job and slot had been there years ago. And you know what? Watching that game today, and I watched the United Game, the Unprinting Game Against Forum, I don't watch them, we can, we help, but I watch them enough. And I still don't really understand what their game style, what their game plan is. It's just almost like this hit, not hitting the hope. Like it's almost like, get the ball, yeah, just get the ball for Final Fid and see what happens. Ryan, thank you so much for the call. So what are you saying then, Chris? Do you think, you know, or is obviously Eric Tenharg's kind of new contract, you know, the hierarchy of coming? Was that contract deserved after winning their face job? If you know my thoughts on Eric Tenharg, I thought he should have been sacked last season. Look, I think the issue is, is trying to be balanced now, based on what I said last season. He won the FA Cup, they've let him start the season. New players have come in. Do I think that they should remove him now? Well, probably give him a bit more time, but I don't see anything changing under Eric Tenharg. And he'll probably come on as he normally doesn't talk his team up and say how marvellous they were, because he often does that. You know, he watches a different game to most people. Hassan Manchin, you're not a fan? Well, boys, I've spoken to him many times. And by the way, we're on three points, I think. We don't deserve to be on three points, because as Ryan said, against Fulham, if a couple of those boys put those chances away, we possibly get at one point if we're lucky in that game. We've got a lucky goal from Xerxes, who, by the way, again, today, I know it's his first season, I know it's his first home game, but he looked so average. So did many of the players. So did Rashford. Rashford, just British Passport United. Why does he keep playing? Why was Ahmed dropped? Why did Ganycha get taken off? What do you mean by that? Just explain your British Passport United. Well, I mean, you know, it's fantastic. And we do this with British players. We tend to play them over the players who may not be British, so to speak, and regardless of what their performance is. You're going to have to explain that to me. I understand what you're saying, but so Eric Tenharg, who's Dutch, wants to play British players ahead of, well, Argentinian, an Argentinian player. Oh, Chris, Chris, it's Chris is above me. I'm not saying it's Tenharg, I'm saying it's something in the club, or it's something in his contract, because it beats me why he plays week in week out, and why the press love him so much. He is awful. Hang on, Andrew. The press love Rashford so much. Yeah, I don't think that was the case last season. I think he took a fair bit of flak last season of his performances, and some may say it's definitely so. But that's the last moment of Chris. I usually come on, and I actually clash with you, but I'm telling you that I don't clash with you on one thing. Tenharg must go. He should have gone last season. It was a one-off game we beat City in. He has to go. You're saying, "Keep him on for a little while, for what?" What do we keep him on for? To what? Big help right now, I agree with what you're saying, and understand what you're saying. The point I'm trying to make there is, because we're just in the infancy of the season, and the fact that they made the decision to keep him on after the FA Cup win, then have you not got to stick with him a bit? Because new players have come in, does he need that time again? I just don't see anything changes, and that's my point. Well, it depends what we're chasing. If we're chasing titles, if we're chasing European places, then absolutely we don't stick with them. I mean, you've got a manager of sitting right next to you, and I'll be interested to know his opinion. Does Tenharg take this team to the next level, which is winning trophies, Robbie? Well, he's won two and two seasons. You know, arguably, he's won more than that. It's in the last two seasons. So, you know, that's the end. That's factual. That's factual. Do I see Manchester United win the Premier League? No, because of Manchester City in Arsenal, I think, and Liverpool. So, you know, I tip Manchester United to be in the top four. I think I've got that badly wrong, but I don't mind admitting after three games. But the biggest thing for me has, and today, was, you know, when you need your players to have a game plan, which I'm sure Edith Tenharg does, and you need them to, when they lose the ball, is to sprint back as quickly as they can. Chris will tell you this. In the first goal, I understand the way of playing. So, if you want your full backs to play high, but in transition, when you lose the ball, and Casimir is a bad pass, we know that. But the two full backs, the recovery runs towards the wrong goal. If you watch the goal back, it was a 5v3 in their own half, and Fernandez has run past four full backs. And so, again, it's about desire running back towards your own goal to try and stop. You know, goals going in the back of your net, they were just all over the place. And, you know, I'm never going to sit here, Hassan, saying, "Managers should go." Because, you know, you've sacked loads of managers. Just a few people, so you say, "Managers shouldn't go. You've sacked enough." That's different, Chris, because the second goal is not different. I'm not going to sit here and say edits, and I should be sacked, because that's not for me to say. That's for you to say, Chris, because, you know, we know how ad it's been managed. You've got more places than big than you have, Rob. Listen, no, I just think, listen, if you're looking, a season on... What would you have done, hang on, Rob? What would you have done? If it's a just pretend Macklefield, a bit Manchester United over the last season or two, what would you have done with Tenharg? Um... You'd have sacked him. You'd have sacked him. You sacked him when you were top of the league. You would have, Robby. Yeah, if I was, I would have, yeah, I would have, yeah. We got there, and there you go. I would have. Cheers, boys. Yeah, but I'm not in that position. So right now, but anyone there fake up, I totally understand it after we're in there fake up. So I do get it, and you'll be mysterious, Christopher. Let's go to Ben Liverpool fan. How are you, Ben? Yeah, good thing. How are you? Good, thanks, Ben. Yeah, I'm just leaving the game now, and let me say, I mean, I was a little bit worried when Flot did not sign anyone, or he started signing, you know, one, only two players, and you kind of worry that you get a new manager in, you think, oh, he's going to have to reinvent the team and start again. But now you realize that he's taking over a title-contending team, a Champions League-contending team. He doesn't really need to do anything. I mean, I don't think Liverpool barely got out of the second gear today. There was sauntering around the pit. You look at Trent Alexander Arnold. I mean, the guy is a wizard with his right foot, and he's barely breaking the sweat today. Honestly, I've been to this game, old traffic for the last, you know, five, six years in a row. The atmosphere today, versus the last six years, was terrible. I didn't think that any money United found thought that they could win. You saw a raster at the way that his shoulders were slumped. I mean, the team is in big trouble, I think, and ten harg. I mean, I think they should have got rid of him at the end of last season, and brought in someone new with some fresh ideas. I mean, they look completely out of the ideas. The only money United finds a thought to play well today, Colby Maynu and Dalot, and obviously, Ahmad, when he came on, I thought they were all brilliant. The rest of them, it's a bit embarrassing, I think. So Ben, you're a Liverpool fan, right? Yeah. Is there real belief now amongst the Liverpool fan base, which you know that Liverpool can really run Manchester City close, and Arsenal close this season? No, yeah, I mean, I think that Manchester City and Arsenal, they're totally different team compared to Manchester City, and I think let's be honest. I mean, those games will be very challenging, and to beat someone like Manchester City, the type of squad they've got is going to be very difficult. Same as all the last years, but I think when you talk about Man United, different class, absolute golf in class, Man United have got real problems, I think. I agree that the midfield area, listen, young Toby Collier, you know, has been thrust into it, that midfield partnership there, Manchester United. You know, Casamido didn't play well in that first half, but you know, a midfield too of Colby Maynu, who, you know, did do well, I thought he was one of Manchester City's better players, but he got, you know, pushed off the ball for the third goal, and that partnership with Toby Collier, when you're playing against that midfield three of Liverpool, I think it was really, really difficult, Chris. And let's be fair, they were absolutely miles off it. They weren't finishing the top four. We've changed his tune after. I have, I have had two. Three weeks. Miles off it, miles off it. The UK's biggest football debate. This is 606 with Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage on Five Live. [Music] Welcome back to 6060805909693. What are you full Chelsea fans, Chris? Manchester Palace fans also? Yeah, what are Crystal Palace fans? What do they make of their start to the season? All of the glass are going in, and the hitting is strapped. You've had a great start to this season, good result today. You've kept Mark Gahey, which I think is a big, big deal. Where do you think you'll end up finishing Palace fans? And Chelsea, do you feel that today's drawers derailed you a little bit? All right, let's go to the calls. Christopher, we've got Steve, a Chelsea fan coming up after Tim. How are you, Tim? Yeah, I'm good. Thanks, fellas. Well, how could you fail to be good after that result? Old Trafford. Just go on, tell us, tell us, Tim. I mean, just how far a Manchester United behind Liverpool in years, years-wise? Yeah, I mean, a long way behind, I think. And I think one test you can apply is looking at the quality of the bench. When Casamiro was having, as he was, a disastrous first half, they had two midfielders on the bench, and the two midfielders were Tobias, Toby, Collier, as he called the guy who came on, another all-right game. And the other one was Ericsson. And you look at the quality of our bench in every single position. It can replace the first-choice player, and it's challenging the first-choice player. So Deuce, for example, you've got Nunez, you can play off the left, and you've got Gappo. You can take Jotter off, you can bring on Nunez. You can take off Trent, you can bring on Connor Bradley, and you can go through it also when he hooks a half-time concert, who's going to be the real deal, I think, in the future. He brings on Kanate, you can take off Alice, and you can bring on Kelleher. I've never seen a United bench, which was, frankly, so weak. And if they can't attract in the long-term players, if they can't develop in the long-term players, they are a club with real, real problems, and they don't even want to get into ten-hogs tactical now, so utter lack thereof. They're just a long way behind. I fear them, well, I don't, because I'm a Liverpool fan, but I just don't see them doing anything. I really, really don't. Yeah, I mean, as a Liverpool fan, do you actually enjoy Manchester United being in such of a state at this moment in time? Or, I mean, how do you feel about that? Do you want to see them pushing again and getting back, where they can challenge for a title? Well, do me Chris, come on. My view is the same as Sir Alex Ferguson's was. I want to see them knocked off their perch. But they're a proper club. They're not a Chelsea, they're not a Man City, they're not a, well, I could say Blackman Rovers back in the day. They're not buying success for a short period of time, that they're a proper... Part of the right players. Part of the right players, obviously Chris. Yeah, quite right. Another right manager, Kenny Telvish. So, you know, you want to see United challenging. You want to see proper clubs challenging, but I'm not pleased that you're not to... Listen, they're in the same state as the old Trafford Rovers. Tim, I've just got to stop you there, Tim. Tim, I've just got to stop you there, because we can hear now from the Manchester United manager, Eddie Tanhag, who's with Gary Flintoff. Thank you, Robbie. Eric, as always, thank you for your time. Ultimately, how disappointed is worthy with the performance and the result today? It's clear, we are very disappointed. And there's always been you lose, but especially when you lose 3-0 from Liverpool. That hurts. And we have to take this, and now we have to bounce back. There's a great respect for Cassamiro right throughout the game of football and quite rightly so. Why did you feel he struggled so much today and you had to take him off at half time? We all have seen the game, and individual errors are part of football, and we took him off because you know, when you play a guy's Liverpool, it opens up the game, and we felt we need legs in the midfield, and that would be broad, the Toby Collier. It's the frustration as well today that this could have given you a real lift off this season. It was a possibility, a real platform for Manchester United to kick on this season. It's true, but the game is over, and we have to lift with the result. And now we have to continue, and we have to bounce back, and we need to improve the team. Individuals have to improve, also fitness-wide, we have to improve, but I'm sure we will be fine, and when we are in a couple of months further, when we are in next season, sorry, next year, we will be going for trophies, a lot of games to play, and also in a lot of leagues, so we have a lot to play for. You've never been afraid of hard work, but would it be fair to say you've got a lot of hard work as a coaching team over the next week or so during the international break? We have always to do hard work, and we can't work with our team, we know where we want to go, and we have to keep working on our structures, but also work on the mentality, work on the fitness, because some of our players, they have to first start in the season, hopefully they can play some games for the nations coming weeks, but hopefully also that they stay fit. Thanks for your time, Eric. Eric, you mentioned mentality a couple of times. Was Eric ten high, Christopher, what did you make of that? What? I mean, so he's saying his players aren't fit, or some of the players aren't fit, right? So I know that there's been the euros in the copper in America, maybe talking about car nature, but is it not the same for Liverpool? Rob, as well, in terms of, you know, on the slots, all the top teams in the Premier League, the players would have been away in international duty. That cannot, he cannot use that as an excuse as far as I can see, Rob. You know, there's always this talk of need to improve. Casamiro starting and, you know, him saying he took him off at half time, because he, you know, they needed better legs. Well, that's an admission. He's got the starting line up wrong as well, isn't it? And there has been a report, Rob, on on on on male sport, on X, that Casamiro left at half time, if that is the case, that tells you everything you need to know about the State of Manchester United at this moment in time. Oh, eight, eight, five, nine, nine, six, nine, three. Let's go to Steve as a Chelsea fan. Oh, you, Steve. Hi, Rob, how are you doing? Good, Steve. Good. So I think that's Chelsea since Christmas school in his goal. Oh, Steve. God, Steve, Steve, you're not a true Chelsea fan, I've got three. I've got three, Steve. You've got, well, one in the league, two in Europe, let's not count. Um, you've got to start a little opener. Um, so I try to unpick, unpick what's going on at our football club. Um, and, um, obviously, non-time team ticket holder, um, looking at the game today, one of the core challenges we face as a team is that we insist on playing Enzo Tenando's Encoisado in the middle of a car. And they are both inherently defensive in your fielders. So they don't create anything at all. Then in terms of possession winning back fall, lots of looking, they were very good, it's quite tidy. But then they'd create chances. So we're over reliant on all these to create goals for us. And, you know, Cole Hall was driving forward from every part of the pitch today, but it's not enough. You've got to be able to create chances through the middle as well as live. And so you ask yourself, why are we playing those two central midfielders consistently? It's because they're the two expensive ones. You know, what they're the most expensive players that we've bought, we've bought on Mudrich today, another really expensive player. So we are playing our most expensive players to sort of claw back some sort of value from the purchases that we've made here on the same country policy. Um, but the central community that we can't say again. Do you really think that's the case? And I'm not, I don't know as, you know, as well as you don't know, but Mareska's gone into a new job. He won't be, I'd be really surprised, interesting to see Rob's opinion on this. If he's, if he's just playing players for the sake of it, to try and increase their value. I don't, I don't see it like that. Not necessarily increase their value, but with, with, with, I don't think we're necessarily picking the best team. And you say Mareska is the new manager. Potta, Potta too known Mareska. They're all just being given us a whole bunch of multi-million player players. So here you are, make something out of this. They're not being allowed to construct their teams. Boli's making the decisions around who comes in and who's out. These guys are coaches, they're not managers. So Boli made the decision on Sterling then, did he? That wasn't the rest of the time. A hundred percent, I mean, a hundred percent. Sterling made himself extremely unpopular last season. He was being audibly booed. It wasn't a massive surprise that he got the shot. Um, but yeah, I think that the challenge we've got is that we feel that we have to play our most expensive, but to justify the decision we've made in the transfer market. So Stephen, the structure of the team then. So the structure of the team then, so he's playing with two sixes, more defence than he minded. So you're playing obviously with the ten, your two wide players and the center four. So you've got four attacking players there. Do the four backs get forward? Because if they do, that you're playing with six, you know, players who can get forward and you structure the team, your two set halves, your two sixes will be the block. Yeah, so if you, if one of your four backs gets forward, yeah, you want those two midfield players, the sixes, because we play a four, two, three, one as well. So more times than not, your two sixes are defensively minded, because you've got so many other attacking options. We play with wingers and four backs as well. I'm not making my football to Premier League. I'm just saying, I'm just saying the structure of the team, that Maresco might think, right, we've got a ten, the two wide players and me number nine, and I've got one attacking four back who goes four, one sets. So you might attack with five and defend with five. So your two sixes might have to be more defensive. Yeah, but and justo got forward a lot for a right back today. But the point with that, Robby, is that you can't have no creativity to the middle, or it's so obviously going to go wide. And so quite often you have justo and madwakay down the right hand side, just being overloaded with defenders and just getting congested near the corner flag and not able to get crosses in. So I think that that's all well and good, but you've got to have something through the middle. Just to be able to play the sixes. Who would you play as one of the sixes? I mean, they're interchangeable. They're all very good footballers. Who would you play as one of the sixes? And you're the manager of the team, you dissect. And who would you play as one of the sixes? I say that. Who? I say don't. I say don't, I say don't. So you play with one six. Yeah. But then, you know, it's it's it's it's like not necessarily players like Connor Gallagher that can drive forward and okay. So with dissecting him with dissecting, with dissecting. And then so you play with one six. You've just said Fernandez and could say it or too defensive. So you're going to put another 10. You're going to put another set of four. Then you're going to put another number 10 in. That's a good question, Robert. I mean, you know, but then when the back four are getting the ball and they play into the six, if he's not if he's not creative. Yeah. And he's going to go sideways or wide. How are you going to solve the problem? The challenge is that we've got so many players to choose from. That I don't have a concrete. I also think I don't know enough about all the players that you signed. But I haven't let you see them play. So, you know, that's the challenge for us is that I'm sure somewhere amongst the multi-million pounds we spent, there is a player that can play in that position. But I don't know who that is today. And that I think sums up the challenge that we face. But we don't know who that that we've got. Gallagher's gone. We, you know, you could have potentially Palmer there. He probably could have had Sterling there. He hadn't made such a villain of himself last season. So it is, you know, I'm not disagreeing what you say. Oh, I don't have the altar for you, David. It's a real challenge to work out how we do that. So that we're a threat through the middle of the park. As well as on the win. See, hey, listen, Steve. I love having intellectual conversations, you know, about tactics. You know, I can't do that when Chris is on the show. Thank you so much for the call, Steve. Can I just apologize to Rob? Rob, can I just apologize to you for, you know, saying that McAllesville, the Mickey Mouse, and comparing them to Chelsea all bit. You are both trying to buy your success. Next caller. Did you win the league with Blackburn? Right, let's talk to James. How are you, man? You're not in. I'm going over here. First caller. Oh, good. How are you, James? I'm good, fine, too. James, you must feel like supporting Manchester City. Oh, wow. Wow. But what about that today? That was dreadful. Do you want me? It's embarrassing, man. Like, I mean, this is this third season now. Like, it's third season. And, like, middle of the park, you've still not figured it out. You know what I mean? Like, I mean, you bought a gati, but, you know, you take what I got in there, take Castamero out. You still ain't going to... He's not going to be the whole answer to everything, is it? Do you know what I mean? Do you agree with that, Rob? Yeah, I do. I do. I don't think one player is going to make the difference, and that's that you're going to become solid. It's just... That's my whole football, is you know what I mean? It's just not going to work like that. And then I think, like... He's starting line up Rashford. Like, you've got this obsession with playing Rashford. And to me, I think... I feel like it's an insult to... I've been, uh, D'Allo and Ganachok is to me, personally. I started Ganachok on the left, and D'Allo on the right. Do you know what I mean? Like, you know... I think you're getting more productivity out of them. Do you know what I mean? Do you think... I'm not... You cross it. You have two crossies, which is a jerk, sir. The head-aw, and then the one to the back post, which, you know, hit wide. Well, but I've made it, there's nothing. Okay, what they can actually do today, then? So, you've just said Rashford created the United's two best chances of the game. Yeah, and... If you're not told I did it too much today, but I think if you go off last season... Even though we're not going off last season, we're not going off last season. I feel like he's a big guy. So on today, then... I'm not told you're going to get more out of it. He started, Ganachok started today. So on today, then... On today, then... Yeah, he was talking about the one on the left, then... What? Okay, but on today, then, who had more end product in the final three for Manchester United, Rashford or Ganachok? Well, Ganachok really didn't do much. To be fair, to be fair, yeah. Ganachok really didn't do much when he... You know, and Rashford had the two crosses, to be fair. I mean, the final third, we report. We report everything's like... Everything's rushed. Do you know what I mean? They have this obsession with us. As soon as we get the ball, I'm going straight away. Do you know what I mean? Like, you're trying to get a bit of control in the game. Do you know what I mean? Like, I think the first 20 minutes we started, it was a nice bit of passage of playing that... Enough time. So on today, then... Yeah, so James, on today, then. On today, and we've got to judge it on today. You know, he's picked Rashford to start, and Ganachok. Yeah, there was boos when Ganachok came off. And I'm not... Yeah. Also, were the boos aimed at... Obviously, they didn't want Ganachok to come off. Obviously, they were the ones who wanted somebody else to come off. Can they be a lot of that? Can they be a lot of that? Can they be a lot of that? Can they be a lot of people? But on probability today, Rashford done more than Ganachok in the final third. Yeah, you have the two crosses. Yeah, two more than Ganachok. Yeah, maybe he did, but I think, like, Ganachok, I think you've got more chance of getting a goal or creating a goal with Ganachok on the pitch, and you have with Rashford. I don't think any of the funds have got much confidence in Rashford at the minute. I don't think Ganachok had him keeping him on in hoping that he's going to produce what he did in tenhags first season, which I don't... I don't think he's got the hunger and the mentality, yeah, to do it gaming game out. I just don't believe he has. And I believe he, you know, a lot of United funds feel that same way, to be fair. Do you think that helps, though? Yeah, I mean, what we do know, and we all know this, is Marcus Rashford in years gone by, is a superbly talented player. And... In the top player, in tenhags first season, what he did, don't get me wrong, man, it was incredible. The last season, he's just gone. And then even this season, being like, you're ex-spects warm, yeah, with what he's got. The ability he's got, you do expect more. I mean, I've been at, at Monday night in a club as big as Monday night in. You expect that, do you know what I mean? But when you feel like you ain't getting up two crosses in a whole game, from someone who's meant to be that good, you can't seriously tell me that he's good enough. Do you know what I mean? Like... I don't want to play me on Rashford. I think tenhags, I think he's tenhags, I think he's... I don't know, I just think he's game players. Like, I think you were the sculpt, what the first call you had, he said, "I still can't see, you know, and I dance to United." You can't, you still can't see what they're trying to do. Everything's just rushed. James, thank you so much for the call. Archie, you're a Rangers fan. Evening, you know, how you doing? First thing, colour. Hello, I'm Archie. You know, right? So, I've been good at that, I forget, every year and I was good at that. And first of all, just, I'll say one thing, just quickly. I was on another phone and I got his phone and a few weeks ago and I echoed the same word as Chris, I read something Chris said, and I totally and I said the exact same thing. They're giving a guy, the manager, who effectively is only one elite cop, elite cop only, and given a contract extension in 2028 and then Chris said, "Oh, I'm working back behind them." And that was exactly my own words. I think after the D90 game, and after the charge was great, the first thing I told Chris to get the board to. The boards are absolutely shambles, and my scouting system is a shambles. We're continually by get managers who, everyone in this field, that arguably Steven Gera had the stock pen that already, you can say that was a success, but it wasn't one trophy, nine, right? And during that period, Johnson won two trophies, one season, and we'll get what was really the last successful manager. We've had every single one in this field. We'll come back to our team, because Gary Flint is now with a Liverpool manager and a slot. I am indeed, and I have to say, there's a little bit of a smile on his face, as indeed you would expect after a result and indeed a performance like that. How good were Liverpool today? I think you used every word I wanted to say, so it was not only a win, but also a very good performance. I was really pleased about the work rate of the players, our work rate without the ball was tremendous, and that's what you need. If you play in ultra effort against so many quality what they have, then you need to be really, really, really strong without the ball. And we were that, and if you then want to win it, you need to be good with the ball as well, and that's what we were as well. As you hint there, you win as a team, you obviously lose as a team as well, although you've not had that feeling just as of yet, but Ryan Gravenberg, give me an assessment of his performance overall, but particularly in that first 45. Yeah, I think he was really important, like the other two midfielders, but again the midfielders can press like this if the attackers don't do enough and the defenders are not willing to step into the midfield, so you saw for a Joel Ibu, they were constantly there to help the midfield, and the front three were, I think, impressive because they scored the goals, but they were also really impressive in their work rate without the ball. And then it's much easier to play on the midfield than if the work rate of the front three and the back four is not the same as it was today. And of course the talk has been quite understandably and sensibly, he's a new man, in a new job he needs time to bed in, you've won three out of three, everyone's now saying it's you and Manchester City for the title, how do you see it moving forward? Only three games in, but it's a very positive thing that we have nine points, all of these first three games, two away games, one home game, so that's positive. But yeah, it's been a good start, but still a lot to prove for us this season. They've seen time well done so far. That was the honest laugh to the three, Neil went out all trevoured, Archie, back to you. Yeah, I mean, it's one of these different points, you know, and you know, I've spoke so many things about, you know, I've got a captain there, right, who has been a captain for seven years, right? He's so effective at that 21 domestic trophies, he's won three captain, one tight old seven, a serial whitewater, a serial loser, it continually keeps a captain set. So the standard of the eyebrows, right, are no matter whether you fail, you're still going to be the worthy, but the manager's been rewarded, he's only one of a week up. You've got a captain who's companion of the world, he's a captain set, he's never, anybody be seen, anything to put in pocket, he's a carry defend, he's no leadership, he's no presence, he's never a captain, he's never a ranger captain, and the standard of the eyebrows from top to bottom are just an absolute joke. The manager of that, he's a fraud, just like Michael Beale. Michael Beale's actually got a better one ratio and fell up the mind, he was enough for, he spoke a good game as well, and the companion he keep getting these managers, and it's a board that's packing these guys, and Jedi was the same as well, one tight old, you know what I mean, silty, capitulated that season, and there wasn't any fines, there wasn't any pressure on them, and Jedi spoke a good game as well, he's not a manager either, you know, all this was the last recent manager we had, and the board has to go, and that come on, you're just going to come back to all, and as Chris said, 2028 we'll give them that contract to, he's no good a clue, and the captain, the captain has many leaves this season, three or four teams are many, but we're in talking and stuff on many, and Saudi, and he's playing me no hard, he's even worse than it, they normally as a defender, at least he gives you a go to the whole team, there's no leadership on and off the path, and it's embarrassing to, you know, to watch that team. Can you tell us one good thing about Rangers Archie? Nothing, there's absolutely nothing there, and you're the only guys who seems to have any, anything, any passion about him, it's big but when he spoke a few weeks ago, it was about this illusion, but where we were going, and I would give him the captain say, he seems to be the only somebody who's got something a bit more good, all young boys in midfield, there's no dig, because there's no big driver team forward, they've got death or so, he's already against us, and you know, lost out in all these guys, you've got a defence that it's just an absolute joke, and it's short and change, and there's nothing, honestly, there's not one positive of that team about this type of... Archie, but do, do now because of, because of Clement signing the new contract, because of the big overhaul of players now, what's the alternative for Rangers? They've got to stick with Phillip Clement now, haven't they? Um, no, I don't think so, I totally disagree, I think I've saw you go through the boat, I think the boat is a big factor in this, you know, he was a failure, he failed at Monaco, or he done something in Belgium, I mean it's how they're a big league, he really Monaco and failed, they're right, we just keep buying failures, they keep buying guys who maybe say, when you look at the sailing policy, right, for months, you've had problems with Kent, we haven't had you, right, you've said, you've said, "Yeah, that's right, he's went to Birmingham for 275,000, right, and Mikey Johnson's went to the West Bronx after he moved in, right, that's arguably related to a similar level, right, let's see the sailing policy as well, that's a boat, short cantaloupe, half a moment, it's a black one, I see you look at the boat, it's a boat's problem here, I've got guys that have just, I don't know, they need their new boat, they can actually, you know, get a good scaling system, they can actually take a good manager, could you tell me the last good manager, apart from Walter Smith, you've had some better track, because that's the last good manager we had, this was Walter Smith, many years ago was that, Cassinia, Michael, Biel, Gera, you know, I mean, they're not good managers, they're not one, you went through the last time, I cannot remember the last time's selfie, that the tailgate is a manager, new wenens, you know, he's definitely going to send, he won a lot of trophies, everything will manage a selfie yet, they come up when doubles and trebles, and every single one of the managers we get, I've got cereal, we're just, that's what got happened. Archie, Archie, strong opinion there, thank you so much for the call. That was really strong, I mean, you know, other Rangers fans listening, do you agree with Archie? Is he right? I mean, you know, very strong, I said, you know, if only just, the season's only just started, Rob, I mean, you know, that's a sort of feeling in Glasgow, if you win, if you lose it, it's an absolute disaster, but I've got to say, you saw the game today, I mean, you know, if you're a Rangers fan, you are worried about the golf between the two clubs. Oh wait, 25, 909, 693, it's time for SAS, Christopher. 606, it's time for SAS. Sensational, amusing, chalky. This is SAS, Christopher, what has been sensational for you this week? Well, Rob, guess who has been sensational? I mean, I'm sick of actually having him as my sensational a lot of weeks, but he's got to be on again, Erling Harland, Rob, I mean, the guys are an absolute footballing, God is me, so it's the first player to score a hat trick in two of a team's first three league games in a season since Paul Jewel, for Bradford in 1994, 95, that's a great stat that is now. Paul Jewel, good player, good manager, Erling Harland, what's it, 70 goals in 69 games, as well, I mean, the guy is in the nicest possible way, he's a freak. We've never seen anything like it, I mean, he is unbelievable, Rob, isn't he? Sensational, I thought you were going to say young Charlie Savage, another goal from 25 yards, he's got to stop doing this. He's got to stop putting the ball in the back of it from 25 years. Who was it against? Who was it against? Charlton, and I'll tell you what, I'll tell you what, what is Sensational in our WhatsApp group? We've got a stockpot fan who said, well done, Charlie, you know, keeping stockboards top of the league, and then our other producer, Crossy, I wouldn't say what he said, Christopher, about my young son. Yeah, I wouldn't say what he said, but it wasn't really kind, he'd be sick. Yeah, yeah, he would be, he would be. It's almost certainly, but Sensational strike from Savage again. What did you do this week, Christopher? Well, do you know what, Rob, I don't know whether you saw this, but Stephen Warnock, I mean, we love Stephen, don't we? He was asked, I mean, is a knowledgeable guy on the BBC football Instagram, he was asked this, how many times have Real Madrid won the Champions League, and this is what he said. Between 13 and 15, I'll go 15. I don't know, I don't know where Stephen went to school, but Stephen, if you say between 13 and 15, it's 14. Stephen, dear me, Stephen's teachers, hang your head in. What on earth you are about Warnock, dear me. Ah, and what is shocked you this week? Well, the clamor, Rob, the clamor, Rob, for Oasis tickets. I mean, huge excitement over the tickets going on sale, people queuing for six hours, and that's okay because, you know, you've got to roll with it, haven't you? So, you know, queuing for a long time isn't the problem, but I mean, many of the people who queued up, they were, I mean, that they couldn't get tickets, and online the ticket sellers increased the prices, I don't know if you saw this from 150 pounds to 355 pounds due to high demand, Rob, come on, that's not on, that's absolutely shocking, we love Oasis, Rob, but that's not a good look for them, is it? Well, what about the ticket prices for the cricket today? Oh, good. Listen, I'm sure I heard I might be completely wrong, 95 pounds for adults today at the last day of the test. 95, ah, listen, I'm sure it was, I might be wrong, suddenly you can text in it, but I'm sure it was 95 pounds for the last day of the test match today. No, dear lords, no, well, I wonder why at 95 pounds a ticket, of course, Rob, why is there anything? I might be wrong, I might be wrong, and it's just to me, right, correct me, I might be wrong, well, that was S.S. here for this week, Christopher. The UK's biggest football debate, this is 606 with Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage on Five Live. Welcome back to 6060805909693, Newcastle fans, where are you? And please, fans Christopher, and Paul, is it, did you get deflated? Well, come on, Robbie, but you're better than that. They've been unfortunate. They've just lost a Newcastle, didn't play well. Listen, Newcastle didn't play well, but that's because Tottenham didn't really allow them to play well, they've been unfortunate, Rob. Start with this season, he'll come. Patience, Rob, you know, you know, in men management, you're a manager now, aren't you? You need to be patient, Rob. It's all about performance. It's nice all about results, Chris, not performance. Well, result time performance. If the performances are there, Rob, the result will come. Management, it's all about performance. What are you talking about? Tell you what, we performed really well, but lost every game. But that's, you know, management. Management, about results, you're being facetious, Rob. But seriously, look at the bigger picture, Rob, because I want you to do well in management, you know, you're buying success at this moment in time, I want you to do well, it's about performance levels. Here's one, Rob, I do want to hear from evidence fans, 2-0 up, 87 minutes on the clock yesterday, and they ended up losing, 3-2 to Bournemouth. Three games as I had to win, but how did that happen yesterday in total control? What needs to happen next, evidence fans? Arsenal fans, come on, Arsenal fans. How did you really feel about the Declan rice? Red card, was it harsh? And Sunderland fans, what a start, Rob, to the season. Three points away at Portsmouth, it makes it four wins. Out of four, I mean, Ken Sunderland, find the way back to the promise land. And Blackburn Burnley, what a derby game. Andreas Feynman's goal, I mean, you know, John Eustis has had a really excellent start at Blackburn Rovers. I thought, I actually thought before a ball was kicked, Burnley would get automatic promotion. I'm not so sure now, though. 0-8-2-5, 909-6-9-3, now that I was to get you called in Brad, how are you? Yeah, very well, thank you. How are you guys? Good, Brad, good. Good, thanks. Who's your team, Brad? Man, you know what it is. Go on then. What do you think needs to happen? Well, yeah, just absolutely fuming to be honest with you. I don't know what's going on with the club, we need to watch Shake Up, we need Tenharg out ASAP, Rashford out ASAP, we just need to have a watch Shake Up. So you'd get rid of Tenharg tonight then? Oh, absolutely. I'd get rid of him right now if I could. Who would you bring in? We've got a man waiting in the wings, you know, he's done a terrific job with England and I think Southgate in and he'll just turn that club to what we need at the B. Would you bring Southgate in instead of Tenharg Chris? If I was in EOS, I don't know how Gareth's with it. I mean, I'd have to interview him first, Rob. Would you bring him in? Well, I don't know how he'd perform it. If he asked the interview, bro, would you bring Gareth Southgate to Man United? Based on his track record, I think that he would be a better bet than Eric Tenharg. So what you're saying, Gareth Southgate for Manchin's Night Manager? I am saying he'd be a better choice than Eric Tenharg. Well, yes, on all. Do you think? Yeah, do you think? Then do you agree then with Brad, first time call it, that Gareth Southgate should be the Manchin's Night Manager? I think he's a better bet than Tenharg. Yeah, that's a yes. Do you want me to say that again? I mean, if you can't make that up. So Brad, Chris agrees with me that he thinks Southgate should sit in my night job. Yeah, he's not wrong. He's done the biggest job in well football. And the second one's Manchin's Night Manager. So I think you can get teams to finals there. I think you can do anything with Manchin. I mean, I think you'll have a good shake up. I really need to change the captain. He's got Bruno out of captain. He's not a good role model player. You need to keep Bruno out of captain. I'm surprised you said that. No, I think Brian from Andes has done well in the last couple of years as a player. But I think you know, someone like that, we used to have him proper captain. But who do you want as captain? And who would you give the armband to then? Probably, you know, it's a tough one at low because there's not a lot I'll give it to. But you know, when he's back there, I think there's no better option than Luke Shaw. But so you give the captaincy to Luke Shaw ahead of Bruno. I mean, that's, I mean, he's never fit. But in the meantime, who would you give it to? You know, in the meantime, I'll probably, I'll probably give it to Mayno. So, you know, Gareth Southgate is the manager and Corby Mayno as captain. Chris, you'd have Gareth Southgate as manager. Would you have as captain? Can I just say, you know, it's interesting you asked me about who I'd have as manager because you wanted Eric Tanharg. You thought he should have been sacked. So what do you think about Gareth? Could he do a job at Manchester United Rob? You know, Chris, I'm asking your opinions as the summarise on this show. But as presented, you know, I've got to be neutral. Right, let's go to Martin. How are you, Martin? It's pretty as fat. Yeah, I'm good. Thanks. How are you? Good. Listen, Chris was devastated today about the loss. I bet he was. Before I forget yesterday, Chris was asking if there was any more Norfolk prejudice after the tractor boys getting plowed? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've got a good one for the next time, Ipswich Win again. How about Worsola Will as a Way? Yes, very, very good. Remember that, Rob, from last week's SAS, Will Perry and the tractor boys, Pep on, you know, at the wheel of the Combine Harvester. So, say that again. That was very good. Go on, say that again. Worsola Will, that's a way. Worsola Will, there's a way. That's brilliant, Rob. Rob is looking. This is radio, but Rob on Zoom is looking perplexed. Worsola, damage, Rob, you've heard of Worsola. Where was he? Was he from Ipswich? I'm lost. You're a scarecrow. Worsola, Worsola, damage. Right? What's that going to do with Ipswich? I'm lost. It's kind of a generic term for, you know, Norfolk. Yeah, that's it. Yeah. I've not heard it. No. It's a good one. So, have you not heard of the Worsola? I've heard of Worsola Gummage, but what's that going to do with this? No, the pop band, anyway. I'll give you a call after the show, Rob. I'm lost. Yeah. I don't see Angeball getting any higher up the league than we currently are. I think we're kind of the all-out attack. It might work in Scotland, but it doesn't work in the Premier League. There's too many good teams in there around us. So, what do you want to know? What do you want to know back then, do you? Well, I mean, the horse has bolted a bit now, but I would have taken Pochatino back straight away and he's clearly eager to come back to Tottenham where he wasn't at the time. So, even though Tottenham... Oh, it's three games. Tottenham dominated the second half today. You know, that doesn't matter then. Tottenham absolutely battered Leicester. They lost. They drew against Leicester. They should have been six up at half time. Went, performed well against Everton. So, you think, after three games, Martin, that a manager who brought you so much joy last season, you think that Tottenham should think about making a change? Well, he brought for a lot of joy in the first 10 games of last season, but I mean, ultimately, it didn't amount to very much. So, Pochatino's not going back, so, who do you want then? Who's realistic? Can't take that. Well, I'm not even advocating for sacking him right now. I'm just... It's a general gripe about. I don't think it's going to work. You might win as a cop. If he won as the FA Corp for, I don't know, the Europa Corp. I'd certainly take that, but he's got no pedigree in that department that's just that he's going to do it. That's, I mean, it's ridiculous to say he's got no pedigree. He's been coaching for 25 years, had success in Australia, in Japan, in Scotland. Yeah, but that's a bit different. Oh, is it? Well, why is that different? Well, quite a different standard, isn't it, from Scotland and Japan and Australia to a European major? That's slightly arrogant. Did Tottenham ever win a European Cup? Well, are you still there? I don't think it's arrogant to recognise that there's a different standard of quality and maybe something that brings you success in a lesser environment. Isn't that actually going to work all that way at a higher level? Did it work last season? Did he progress the club last season? Did he lose Harry Kane? Where did he finish? They finished fifth. They were eighth the previous season, so they finished fifth, which is progress. I mean, to start having doubts. You've got to finish fifth in 1994, Chris, do you remember? Oh, I think it was Everton, Rob. You've finished fifth in '98. Was it Chelsea? No idea, but you don't know what to do. So you're measuring progress against what happened the year before, which is obviously a poor year. I mean, I think we need appointing coaches who - I don't know. Park the bus. Do you want to watch it? Preferably not. No, I don't want to watch any more bus parking because we've seen enough of that over a week before. Who's the last Spurs man? Is it to get him to a final? To a final Pochtino, Champions League final. That's where we met Daishi. Rob, remember that. When you said, "Hi, I'm sorry about how I speak about your teams on the radio, but what was life for your breakfast?" You were pathetic, absolutely pathetic. Let's go to a selfie. Chris, how are you, Chris? What a day, what a performance. Leagues over. Yeah. Fantastic. Could I just say quickly, Chris, it was a pleasure seeing you at Deli Park. Fantastic players, Celtic. Well, thank you. Thanks, Chris. I think today was just a massive - I think it's a highlight just how big the problems are to eye-brokes. You know, come on, we're saying before, again, there was a lot of build-ups watching on Skye. There was a lot of build-ups of, "Oh, well, it was only one or two goals last season." We were, you know, it might have been pretty with a dominant two goals. It was possession-wise this season, no different. They just started the better team, I will say, for the first 10 minutes. I thought that press was there, it was high, it was good. As soon as Celtic got the ball in there, even if even the disallowed goal, seems to just knock the confidence right out of them. The heads dropped, and I think it's becoming a psychological thing now, rangers, and your previous caller, I think he's hitting the nail on the head. There's no - there seems to be no cohesion with the manager coming in and the players. Rangers fans, I think, from what I've seen on social media and what I hear, they seem to think, "Okay, yeah, we sold Matt O'Reilly. That was it. Problems are going to be right at Celtic." I think when we brought on James Forrest and we brought on - and we brought on early angles, that, to me, showed the strengths and depth that we've got. We've brought this season. I've had a lot of negativity with previous Celtic transfer windows, in this one's fantastic, and today's performance highlighted. That players were there in depth, and every single one of them, I think, just showed how big the goal phase is. I think it's bigger than Clemonne wants to admit. I think it's definitely bigger than what Clemonne wants to admit. Yeah, I'd agree with that. You'd have seen the Champions League draw, Chris. I mean, it's quite a good draw from a Celtic perspective. Do you think that this team, this squad, is good enough to actually get through to the knockout? I do. I think we could. I think this is the kindest draw I've seen in a long time. We've always been drawn against the likes of A.C. Milan by Amunic. Barcelona. It's three seasons. They've got Barcelona multiple times. So I think this is the kindest draw, certainly, I've seen in a good while, and I think it could be very interesting. If we make the most of the home games, and we really make home advantage, it's kind of like we know we can't. I think Celtic could progress. I think the toughest one. People don't know the draw. What are the games? I know we've got Dormund. We've got Dormund away. We've got Aston Villa away. We've got young boys at home. We've got things at Atlanta. So we've got, we've got, we've got, we've got very interesting. Yeah, very, very, I think definitely it's going to be, by no means, it's going to be so easy. Yeah, we've got Black Flavia, who I think was played before in year. Livesic, we've played and beat Livesic before, and vice versa, they played and beat us. So I think there's definitely winnable games there. It's just about, I think there's the key thing for Celtic, I think Europe, is getting over this hiding, the away from the away from, hasn't been great in the last few years. Yeah, we've got results in last year. And we've had better performances away from home in the last couple of seasons. That's what Chris says. I'm saying Chris says because Yoko Chris says, "It's all about performances, not about results." Yeah, but the performances, when you look at last season, the performances were there again, so I thought I'd come and do it at home. We, we know we went to and up in a storm storm. The performances have been there. It's got about bad results. You take results over performances, but it's a bigger picture. Chris, just quickly, do you think in the near future, Rangers can seriously challenge Celtic? In the near future, possibly, but there needs to be a, as me personally, I think there needs to be a complete, there needs to be an overhaul. I think a lot of players need to go. I think they need a clear plan of what to bring in. They want success straight from the off. It doesn't work like that, even in Scotland. You know, Celtic have got massive financial powers. It was not had, it was had, it was built up over years and years of players coming in, players go in for good money. They need, I just didn't need a ground-up build rebuild, rebuild it since far from scratch. Martin, thank you so much for the call. Let's go to Matt who's a Manchester millionaire. But, do you know what? I think that's, that is a great point about about McTomany and Cassamira. And the fact that, um, that ten-hargh whipped Cassamira off at half time today because he doesn't have the legs, and you've let a player who does have the legs go to Napoli, isn't it? Well, McTom, he's got that. Yeah, he's got the legs behind him. He's got the defensive mentality, but he knows I'll run up and get in the box and be there when it's needed. And when you're paying 25, what was it? Salt McTomany for 25 million and you're paying 70 odd million for Cassamira. It just doesn't make any sense down at all. What do you think, Robert? I know you're the presenter on this probe. I would say, well, that's why they've signed the ughati to players in that midfield area with me. That's what I'd say. You know, obviously didn't play today, but, you know, from PSG for a large fee, that's why I think they've signed him. Cassamira, his, his race is run. What happens when he gets injured, though? What happens if something's not right with him and he's trying to switch the team around? Do you need backup and replacement and Cassamira is neither? Yeah, listen, McTomany, myself and Chris are big advocates of Scott McTomany we had on this show, and I think he, you know, I'd have kept him, but obviously, you know, he's gone to Napoli. What about Cassamira, Rob? Come on, just answer the question. That's the question. What's the question? Is Cassamira, Rob? Is his race run at Manchester United? Yeah, I would say so, yeah. Yeah. No doubt about it. I think he just needs to try and shift his position. They're trying to play him as a defensive field, though, and he hasn't got his knowledge and his passing. I mean, he showed today, he's... Well, where would you please? But he's not an eight, so he's not, he's not an eight or he's not a ten. Listen, he's been one of the best materials in the world. His trophy cabinet will suggest that, but right now, you know, he's not, he's not an eight or a ten. He's a six, but again, isn't he? Oh, wow. What happens to you? What happens to your old fashions central midfielder rather than have a defensive field? That's what we're saying, aren't we? It's no, the Audi plays 4, 4, 2 box to box midfielder now, do they? It's either you're the six, you're an eight or you're a ten. You know, I don't listen. Cassamira's not a midfield player in terms of box to box, is he? No, he's not. The mentality when he came in there, if the talker might have been a box to box player, he's not been that for a long time, even in the last couple of seasons of Real Madrid, he wasn't that kind of player. And what would you think about the Rashford situation then? You know, you're clear. Honestly, I would have him in the team still, but sticking on the right wing, all he's basically doing is when he's getting down the left hand side, he's wanting to cut back inside. So if he's able to cross the ball, getting down the outside rather than cutting back in and crossing it, getting down the outside like back, he needs to do whipping the ball across. And Matt, what do you think, you know, do you agree with the previous Manchester genetic call and Chris saying that, you know, Southgate should be the next Manchester United manager? Again, you could have any of the ones coming in Southgate, you could have Poch coming into the United, it's about getting them in there and doing the job rather than saying that they're not capable before they come in there. Okay, all of the quality to do it, they hold on the knowledge that they can do it, but once they get in there, can they do the job with the team that they've got? Rushford's lost it since Sancho has gone. It's been a huge fallout with those. I know it's Rushford's starting to decline as soon as Sancho was falling out of favour. Did he think he's going to go down the same path? I don't know. Matt, thank you so much for the call. I just want to ask your question just on that you mentioned, Cassie. It's about the call. It's about the call. It's about the call. It's just about the call. Emma, you're a nurse fan. How are you, Emma? Emma, you're there? I'm fine. Thank you. How are you, Emma? Can I just, Emma, I'm just going to ask Rob for questions? No, I'm going to just ask you a question before we move on. Sorry, Emma. You mentioned Cassie Miro's trophy cabinet. Just right. Have you got a trophy cabinet? Why is it so nasty, Emma, to me? It's not, I wasn't being nauseous. You're just asking your question. Chris, Chris, Chris, you're better than that, Sancho, Emma, I'm a biopropod. Thank you, Emma, I had to say that to you. But your previous call, the first fan? Yep. Yes. I don't agree what he said. I think positive is amazing. I think Tottenham played amazing today. They controlled the game from the first and the second half. It just got it to lose. But I think they lost on it, and they were the best team against Leicester, but true. I don't care. Sorry. I've been down to speak to you guys for ages, because I wasn't sure the time. But, yeah, we lost them. I've tried that we lost. But I think we played really well. They're some positives to take from that much today. But I don't agree with this, or let's act positive. I think he can do a lot for Tottenham. Yeah, I couldn't agree more with what you say, Emma. I agree. I do think a lot of Rob says is tongue-in-cheek. I think if you take the three games this season in isolation, should have been Leicester, didn't, did beat Everton comfortably, should have won today. And Rob is right about the results. That's why we had was at Martin, the Tottenham fan on, and talking about balance. But I think, overall, the progression made last season. The sensible Tottenham fans will see that progression. We'll see that they had to get rid of that, well, Harry Kane left and went to Bayern Munich. And that was an enormous loss. You think of all the goals you're missing out on, and he had to build lost to Koglu. And then with three games in this season, and the thing is, he's not going to change. And Spurs fans, we had lots of Spurs fans last season, Rob, who called in and said, "Well, do you know what, this brand of football, we're enjoying it, because we never won anything before." And when we had Conte and Mourinho, and Nuno, Spirito Sanchez, it was boring to watch. And that's what you're saying, Emma. Yeah, I like the basic play now. You're going back to a deal with Nick Days. And I think it's fun to watch, Tottenham are fun to watch now. I mean, maybe a few years ago, they weren't so fun. I mean, I used to get angry and annoyed with the TV and the players, but now they're fun to watch past the Koglu, but fun back to Tottenham. And I think it's just amazing. It's amazing, guys. Emma, thank you so much. Rob, there's a club. That's a club is about fun. That's what sport is about. You should try it now, and then... That's good. Seriously. You've got a couple of good lines tonight, actually. Thank you, Christopher. I'll tell you what, Chris, why isn't fun? The simulation game. Oops. And then Boltmann has swiped there to kick the ball, and he's played the... He's missed that. He's hit. Rice. Rice has gone down. Oh, he's gone there. He just clicked it. I didn't strike in the ball. Rice has clicked away. So, I'll do his vice-get-book for that. No, no, no, no, no, come on, look, John. Second yellow card for Declan Rice. He's down to Madison. He really has been everywhere in this first half. We're down under the challenge of Bern. And referee Rob Jones says nothing doing there. Well, he's getting short-shrift, and, shall we say, not too much sympathy from the Newcastle fans. He went down... Why's the last thing you do there? You stop, you stay in the box, and if it's going to be a freak out, then they'll have to look at the DR. Now you want Rob? You've got to name-check a couple here as well. Tahing Chong for Luton on Friday night. Chong was wrong. And Paul McGinn for Motherwell at St. Johnston. Yesterday, Paul had, you know, you've got some great players in the family and what have you, Paul. But you go down like that, we're going to call you out. You're better than that, but the winner of this week's simulation game. You know what, James Madison. Great player, Rob, that he is. And he is a great footballer, but he's got a history of this. You're better than this, James Madison. You're better than that. James Madison, just stay on your feet. Just stay on your feet. Do the right thing. Madness from Madison. The winner of this week's simulation game, James Madison. Oh, still no Newcastle fans, Christopher. After that 2-1 win. They don't have to play well, you know, and still beats birds. Just a serious point about Newcastle. I just wonder, remember when they had the takeover and all the richest club in the world and what have you. Eddie Howe didn't seem to be a happy bunny in the summer, really, and talked about the club not being in alignment with his views. Didn't get Mark Gahey over the line. He was the guy that they earmarked. Want to hear from Newcastle fans? Do you think, I mean, where did you see Eddie Howe in? A season's time, do you think he'll stick it out if he's not getting his own way? Now, more 606. On Five Life. [MUSIC] Hassan, Manchester United fan. I'm telling you not, I don't clash with your one thing. Ben Hagg must go. He should have gone last season. There was a one-off game we beat City in. He had to go. You're saying keep him on for a little while, for what? What do we keep him on for? Ben Liverpool fan, how are you, Ben? I mean, there's, I don't think Liverpool barely got out of the second year today. They were sauntering around the pit. You look at Trent Alexander-Arnold. I mean, the guy is a wizard with his right foot. And he's barely breaking the sweat today. James, how are you, man? You're not here. Do you want me to see him borrows him? I'm like, I mean, this is his third season, though. Like, it's third season. And like, middle of the park, he's still not figured out. You know what I mean? Like, I mean, you bought a garsey, but, you know, you take what I got in there, take us the mirror off. You're still, like, going to, you're still going to do the whole answer to everything, isn't it? You know what I mean? Um, let's go to Steve, is it Chelsea fan, how are you, Steve? So, I think that's Chelsea since, uh, Chris was scoring his goal. Um... Oh, Steve. Oh, Steve. Go on, Steve. This is BBC Radio 5 Life. Call free. 08085. 909693. Text 85058. Call of five, name, team, point, go. Matt, man, United. Casa Mira, two bad passes, two bad seasons. Should he go or exit? Call of six, name, team, point, go. David, Chelsea over way in European season tick-hold. We need to get relegated. We need the owners gone. They are killing our football. Mr Farr, do you know what? I, uh, call of number six. David was interesting. Can we get David? Yes, you're called. David, David, hello, are you there, David? I'm here, hello, Chris, how are you? Yeah, I mean, you sound quite weary, David. Mate, listen, I'll tell you what. It ain't the Chelsea you played for. I'll tell you that. What else is it? Mate, no, listen, neither is a 10 million pound sign in Robby. I'll tell you what, then three goals in school. Burn half worth of money. Three points, three, three million of all. So tell us about Chelsea, no, David. Listen, I'm a supporter. You, as professional footballers, must now, how important the supporters are. To any football team. People like me who pay 807 pounds for my home season ticket. I don't spend any money in the megastore. I don't buy a program. I don't buy any of the grub or the drinks there. We know good to that football club. Do you know what they do when we play teams like Man United? They've got something called the bench club. They sell tickets for four and five thousand pounds to people who sit behind the players' benches. They're the kind of customers that have the owners won. To be fair, to be fair, one of the managers paid 10 million for Chris to sit on the bench. Yeah, I know, but to be fair, I don't know how Chris got on with Basie, but I didn't get on with him when he was a chairman at the time. But I wish he was back there now. I know a couple of people on the board, and they're decent people. People blame Todd Boli, but it's the other bloke. Egg Bali, who does not know the first thing about football. That's very interesting, because that's the first time I've heard that. So tell us the difference, and so you're saying that Todd Boli has taken back, which is unfair. Todd Boli understands sport, okay? Egg Bali is in charge of what you call it. I can't think of the word now. It's an investment fund, basically. And I'll tell you what, if I had have invested my money for my kids, their kids, their kids' kids in clear lake investments, clear lake capital, and I saw them spathin' all this money on a football club, and they don't know what they're doing. I'll be banging on their front door saying, "I've got my money back." The what that guy said earlier about the managers, the managers ain't picking the team. The reason Mauricio Pochettino left was because he wanted to keep Conor Gallagher. Those owners treat the footballers like assets. They're not the human beings. Look at the way they treat in Trevor Tuloba. Apart from Thiago Silva last year, that kid was our best defender. He's been in the club since seven, since he was seven, and he's been frozen out. "Why for financial fair play?" I had very good pals with an X Chelsea manager. One of the top goal scoreers, I'm not going to name any names. I took my kids round to see in last summer, and we started talking about Mason Mount. It was a favourite of my little boy. As soon as I mentioned, Mason Mount, this fantastic footballer, X Chelsea, well, one of the most gifted Chelsea players we've ever had, he said he couldn't believe how quickly this sort of fast-up financial fair play, which is why Mason Mount went. Why Conor Gallagher went. This is why they tried to get rid of Trevor Tuloba. You can't just ban people to the under-21s, and you can't train with first-thing. The kids have been there since they were seven years old. They've given they're all for Chelsea Football Club. A couple of the players that we've bought in the past couple of years have been fantastic. Cole Palmer, he's a fantastic footballer. I like Milo Gusto. I like him because he looks good. But unfortunately, the disconnect between the club, the footballers, and the supporters is at an all-time low. And I've been going years and years and years. You know, I listen, apart from Covid, I've missed about six games, home away and in Europe since 2000. You're right, you know, what you're saying about the fans, fundamental to football clubs, Chris, you know, without the fans. And I've witnessed Chelsea fans when I've gone away to Europe, and you get on a plane where there's your Manchester, Gatwick, Heathrow, and you see the same faces. Chelsea fans travelling up and down the country, you know, up and down Europe to support their team. But fans are so important now, they're the most important thing. And you know, it's interesting David talks about the disconnect. Other Chelsea fans out there listening. Is David right? Do you agree with him? You know, is there a disconnect or, you know, is the club being run well? Can we get to number one back, Rob? Oh, oh, yeah. Well, before we go to Keira and he's with us on Charley's Liverpool. And it's good to call at number one. How are you calling at number one? I'm alright, I'll tell you, too. Yeah, good to see you. I think you wanted to give us a bit of a history lesson. Well, yeah, because one does get fed up of managers, plumb dates, fans calling my own club Sheffield and the other less than none club, other side of the city Sheffield, there is a football club called Sheffield, the oldest club in the world. So we're not Sheffield, we never have been Sheffield, we're Sheffield denied. You're the mob of the side of the city of Sheffield Thursday or Friday or whatever it is. But it's just the ignorance of the game. We claim the oldest stadium in the world, you know, that, you know, I just have just said to you, Robert and you, I've forgotten him, just learned some history again, you know what I mean? Yeah, I mean, well, maybe, maybe, maybe learn my name. I mean, you're talking about the history that I've been on here for the best, best part in any 10 years, I think, Rob. No, I mean, who's that? I don't come on, I don't come on very often because it's all a Premier League centric, into these other fans out there, you know, who want to listen to and have discussions about their own, possibly. Listen, we love talking about all levels. Give them a flow and shell for you, see, if you could let me finish. No, sorry, sorry for butting in. We take calls from supporters of any club at any level. I mean, Rob is a big advocate for a non-league football. He's manager of Mackelfield, I don't know whether you knew that. But have you just come on for a for a Monial Rant, have you? I know that Rob is the manager of Mackelfield and, congratulations, any successor beating the Albion. The FA Cup is a very important competition, and I hope they progress even further. Take us to yesterday, take us to the Albion yesterday. What a beautiful welcome, we had a fantastic football club. Yeah, well, well, well done, Rob, you know, it could have been a tricky banana skin magic and takata Albion. What you got through, you're in the next round of a beautiful, beautiful competition that should be recognized as that by all football clubs. And I just want you and your listeners and managers and other people to, you especially, Robert, I must say, to stop calling Manchester United. They are not. You call them new to need, if you want, which is the original name. Stop calling them United, because the first United, the Sheffield United, the Sheffield United, I'll make sure he doesn't do that again. To be fair, the guy who you don't know the name, who's presenting the show, he does pimp me up on that a lot. He does pimp me up on that a lot, don't you? Put your name? Shall we get United's colour on now? Let's go to Kieran, who's with his son Charlie? Let me pull a fan, how are you guys? Hey, Robbie, how are you doing? Hello, Kieran. Did you go today? No, we didn't go today. We watched it on TV at home. And you enjoyed it, clearly? Yeah, definitely. To be fair, I knew, obviously, Klopp left the team in a good position when he left. I didn't think that, obviously, with Klopp coming in that it would be such a smooth transition, but they looked really good at the moment to be fair, Liverpool. I mean, obviously, you know, three in a little traffic, we'd be in a few times, but the first half, you know, it could have scored, obviously, but I thought we played really well overall. What does Charlie think? Charlie, what do you think? I'm actually really happy with the result. I didn't think going into this game that we were going to do too well, but we absolutely smashed, you know, a free nail is a good result, I think. And who's your favourite Liverpool player, Charlie? No, Salah. No, Salah. Do you think, do you think, because there's talk about this being his last season, do you think he'll stay a bit longer? I'm not sure. I want him to stay a bit longer, but it might be his time, I'm not sure. And just on this season, a question for both of you, do you think that this Liverpool team not made many dealings in the transfer window, but do you think this team and this squad is good enough to challenge Manchester City and Arsenal? That's the thing a lot of people said we didn't make a lot of signings, but I think keeping hold of Salah, obviously Trent with the year left on his contract. Virgil van Dyke as well, I think, yeah, I think the ones we've kept on to, I think it's probably better than making any signings, if that makes sense. OCKAs are coming in, it's a really good sign in, but I think we could possibly challenge City, but it's so hard. I mean, they are so good. OC Harlan's gone another hat trick yesterday, but I just got a feeling maybe we could challenge him this year, this could possibly be our year. What do you think, Charlie? I'm just going to say, my all-man City fans that are listening to this, you better watch out because Liverpool are coming for that league title this season. Thank you, thank you, Charlie. You better watch out Manchester City fans Liverpool are coming for you. Tom, Celtic fan, you're at the game, Tom. Yes, good evening. Hello, Tom. Well, hey, Tom, I mean, what about that today? That was a stroll at Celtic Park, wasn't it? Beautiful, beautiful stroll, yes. Beautiful, I was sad for the red, white and blue. He was of govern, they can't produce anything at all, but onwards and upwards, celery, as they say in the front. The beautiful performance, all Brendan's gone. I'm ticking away here now, just at the end of last season, I think I posed a question to you, Chris. Do you think Celtic have got an in them to splice that extra cash and go, you know, nine, ten million? Lo and behold, they must be listening to somewhere in Celtic Park there. Two have turned up in the space as I will take a bus. You wait for one and then two of them come splashing along, only by angles. Do you think it'll be a good star for us? I would have loved to have kept, Matt, and see, you know, we didn't really need the extra money. For the money we're brought in for these new players, you know, we recurbed out a lot of fit for Matt and Rayleigh. It would have been good to see if Matt and Rayleigh were there, inspiring them, having a bit of showing in this new Champions League. One other question, and I can disappear on other times, it's quite tight. Celtic, we're more embarrassing the books. Over a hundred million in the banks. There's not many clubs, not a new Britain, but just in Europe that are telling a coin, telling a profit this way. If they're not wanting to splice the cash and spend and just put them on you, what other reason, other than fatting in the lamb? I mean, they're so succulent lamb that David Murray got a media to hide under. I think people should be looking at Celtic as they're going to be a major bid from American billionaires to splice and to Celtic, given the current scenario. But now we've got a European League by the back door. I've been shopping for 30 years, but now we've got that genuine League, where no Celtic, if we can put a decent performance, I know it would have been really good to keep Matt Rayleigh, as I said. But can we get a good run in Europe? And as a billionaire's come into it, a shelter has been fatened up, because why else would you keep a hundred million in the tank? And not splice, if it's not. But there has been Tom. But Tom, so it was a wait and see, wasn't it? And then Celtic with Anna Engels, he's a record signing. Robert, 11 million pounds from Morgzburg. I think that I was concerned when Matt Rayleigh left, and it was a wait and see, because players had to come in to try and replace him. Just on Matt Rayleigh, did you see the shocking challenge on him from the boy from Crawley, Rob? Absolutely shocking challenge on him. And I think he's going to be out for a while now. So that's unfortunate for him, but it was about replacing him. And Brendan Rodgers talked about adding quality so they can never go in Europe. And to be fair to Celtic, they've brought a number of players in in the last 24 hours of the window. So things are looking brighter in terms of squad depth, squad strength, the challenge on all fronts. Thank you so much for the call. Tom, Muhammad, Newcastle fan. Hi, good evening. Good evening. Yeah, I just wanted to call Lyn, because you gave us that for a Newcastle fan to call. I was driving back from the game, literally just got home. Oh, blimey, where do you live, Muhammad? I live in Nottingham. Oh, all right. Can you travel all the way up to Newcastle? You must be an ardent fan. What did you make of the game? And what did you make of the whole situation at Newcastle? Yeah, I mean, all season since the start of the season, including the Cup game against Suarez, I don't think our performances have been not to the standard that we've seen in the last past couple of seasons. But it's like you said, it's like Rob you said earlier. It's all about the results at the end of the day. So, I mean, you can perform a lot in the mouth and not get the results, and you can perform as bad as what Newcastle had been doing, and be happy with the results. But listen, yeah, I have to be happy with the performances. So, not with the performances, but glad you got through to the next round of the Cup, and still not being in the league. But listen to Chris earlier in the show, Muhammad. He's, I think he'd rather be in Spurs' dressing room, because he's more, you know, as a manager, he said he'd be more happy with performances than results. Oh, sure, I get what Chris is saying. No, I do. I do want your team play well, but at the end of the day, it's all about the results, and that's what no one's talking about Eddie Howl getting set. For people who are calling for Eric St Hagg, and the Spurs possibly gets set. So, if he's not really calling for postocogru to get set. Is Eddie Howl happy at Newcastle, Muhammad? Well, what's your feeling on that? I think he's been given an opportunity at our club, but I think a lot of fans need to realise, and I want to them. I mean, like, I get the whole take over, we've got the richest owners, but it's just that era in football, they can't go free for all that. They're like Roman Abramets to that Chelsea, when he brought, and like the City owners, they've been there for, I think it's going to take time. I think it's going to need to realise that it's a cycle that we've got, we're in a good cycle since our owners have come in. They've just spent, spent and spent, and hence why we've got a good team. I can't think of studying the likes of Bruno Gimmera, and Gordon even probably doing the environment in the future, because we're at that cycle now. I mean, Mike actually dreamed our club. We are no talent to sell. I mean, our best player at the time, when Newcastle took over, was Saint Maximum, and we got 20 million for him. So, I mean, if you look at all the clubs, Brighton has spent 200 million, but why? They had like the Crusaders who they got 110 million for, until we don't go through that cycle probably three times. We're not going to get up there with the PSR rules, and the money coming in commercial revenue and stuff. And a lot of that, and a lot of fans got to be patient, I reckon, in regards to that, to reach the top four to start winning the game. Thank you for having me. Thank you so much for the call. We've got time to squeeze in two more matches. And Samantha, how are you? Hello, Chris, how are you? Chris has just had to catch his playing, Samantha. He's just had to go because he's just a player. I was always a very big Chris Sutton fan, and I liked his short Norwich, but he was contouring him. Was he? He'd be played 28 minutes. It's just that I obviously rung up, the first time that I've ever rung. Oh, thank you. Obviously, I just want to talk about man and I, and how shocking it was. Go on, then, Samantha. You know, I mean, I've never sort of like, I know we got beat 7-0 last time, but it was just the way we played. And I think Eric Tan has got to go. I believe that he should have gone last season. But they keep playing the same negative all the time, you know? Do you think Mark and Richard should not be in the side? He should be dropped. I don't know what your opinion is, but it's just why I thought that it was awful. If you were to get rid of Edit 10 Harg, then, Samantha, who would you have in charge? You know, some people would have suggested it. Get us out of the gate. I would say Garris or Pochatino. Yeah. Go on, Samantha, come here. It's just that, you know, obviously, you know, a lot of people say that, you know, I don't think we're going to finish in the top four. We've probably finished mid-table like we did last year. It's just really annoying that, you know, obviously Liverpool, I mean, they were at the better side than we were, so it's really, you know, I'll pass on your regards to Chris Ringback next week. It will be on next week after the England game. So Ringback, and you know, you can say to Chris yourself, you're a big fan of him. And Robert, you were very good at playing as well. Oh, thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much. How you getting on at your job at Mansfield? Yeah. It's Macosfield, but listen, thank you so much. Samantha, yeah, we're doing OK.
