Get ready live from State Street in the heart of Chicago. You are listening to the new home of the Chicago Bears. ESDF Chicago. And this is Captain Jay Hur. WNBPWTBC, HD2 Chicago. A good karma brands radio station. What time is it? It's Thursday, Thursday. Tom Thayer. Thayer Thayer. 1985 Super Bowl Champion and Football Analyst for the Chicago Bears. He had to win the division, win the division, get into a playoffs. Former offensive lineman. Do they need to get better? Do they need to give up less sacks? Yes, of course. Tom Thayer. Tom Thayer. It's Thayer Thursday on Captain Jay Hood, ESPN Chicago. Good morning, Chicago. And welcome in to the Captain Jay Hood Morning Show on ESPN 1,000. And we're streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. With David Kaplan, Jonathan Hood with you. We've got Shane. We've got Charlie. And we've got you here on this Thayer Thursday. And now time to go to the hotline. That would be the car ex-tire, not a hotline. Rattle, rattle, thunder, bladder, boom, boom, boom. Throw it. Don't worry about the car ex-tire. Tom Thayer is brought to you by the village of Rosemont, located just outside the city. Rosemont is your one stop destination for fun. Rosemont, it's all here. We turn to a Super Bowl Champion. Colorado's for the Chicago Bears. Tom Thayer joins us on the Captain Jay Hood Morning Show. Good morning, Tom. How are you? I'm doing good, Jay Hood. How are you doing? We're doing great. Are you kidding me, football? It starts tonight. Well, for me, it started last Friday night when I got to watch my high school beat J. Hilgenberg's high school at Joliet Memorial Stadium. And then Notre Dame beat Texas A&M, Jerry Fotten, those old college. So I'm ready to roll, man. Let's get this thing underway. Joliet Catholic, have they ever had a good team? Listen, we just stick with tradition. We run the ball effectively, and we make the other team punt. Yeah, the season ticket package there is pretty pricey. I try to get in there. Didn't you win the state title when you were playing? All four years. Wait a minute. All four years, brother. You won four straight state titles? We only lost one game on the varsity level in my four years of life. Who beat you? Marion Catholic on a Saturday, on a rainy Saturday afternoon. While Waddle was the number one team in the USA Today Power Rankings, they went to the playoffs, and they lost-- I think he told me 7-0 Kirk Herb Street was the backup quarterback as a freshman on the other field. Like, Centerville, Ohio, it still haunts Waddle. He said it's the worst loss of his life. Yeah, I'm a little haunted by his high school as well, because Jerry Faus came to be the head coach at Notre Dame when I was there. And that's where Waddle went to high school. I played with a lot of good players from his high school at Notre Dame. But I don't think Jerry Faus was-- he's a good man. He's a good, good man. But I don't think he was the right choice for Notre Dame at that point. Yeah, high school coach, coming in to coach. The vaunted Irish. Yeah, it's amazing, right? Amazing times. Here we go. It starts at 7 AM, our coverage on Sunday, as we get ready for the Bears and the Titans. Give us one thing, Tom, the one thing you're looking forward to seeing for this Bears team. Um, one thing I'm looking at is red zone reality for Caleb. Understand how quickly the windows open and close. And don't feel that you have to get rid of the ball into such a tight window that you become susceptible to giving it away. And then another thing is when the Bears are on their side of the 50, if you got a third, nine, or a third and long, don't be afraid to punt. Because Watori Taylor, he is such a good weapon that rather than subject yourself to giving the ball away inside the opponent's territory, get rid of it, and punt, and then put your defense on the field. So but the red zone reality and the timing of that portion of the field is different than the rest of the field. In terms of watching this team play over the preseason and training camp, you see every snap, whether you're there and most of the time you are. I believe you got to this the hoodie yesterday. If you come out and you throw the ball 45 times or more, I think they're going home with a loss. I believe they got to come out and the game plan has got to be, we're establishing DeAndre Swift. He's going to run the football. And then when he needs a blow, we're going to get Khalil Herbert in there. And he's going to run the football. And then we could play Caleb off of that. Or do you believe the way to beat the Titans is through the year? No, I agree with you, Cap. 100%. The running game has always got this offense going. If you want to go back to the '80s or present day, they're one of the best in the league. And I think DeAndre Swift is the key ingredient to this offense and how it moves up and down the field. He's a great outlet receiver. He catches screens really well. He's a good interior vision runner. But if you can incorporate him and make the defense a little bit more susceptible to line of scrimmage responsibilities, then you start talking about opening up your chances down field. So I think it is run game first and then take advantage of your down field opportunities. Tom Thier with us brought to you by Village of Rosemont on the Cap and Jhood Morning Show. So Tom, you told us during preseason, that it was an incomplete grade for you when it comes to the offensive line. Well, the preseason is over. It's going to start on Sunday. So coming into this game and this season, what you're letting grade and your confidence in the offensive line. You know, I'm going to give you a solid C right now. And as a C, but with the curve and all that, I could probably give you a B minus at the end of Sunday. If they're able to control Tevandre and sweat in the middle 6'4, 3'66, Jeffrey Simmons is one of the best defensive tackles in the league and he's healthy now that Aaron Donald is no longer in the league. And Denard, the defensive coordinator, he's creative, man. He's going to bring blitzes that are going to outnumber the amount of blockers that the Bears have available to them, either in the middle to the right or the left. So if the offensive line can get that running game going like Cap wants, and then when it becomes down to the obvious second long, third and long, and if they can provide the realistic amount of protection time for Caleb, then the offensive line has a chance just to upgrade their C that I'm giving them before the season starts. So a year ago on opening day, I tuned into the station, first broadcast with us as the home of the Bears. I hear Sylvie's voice, and he's like, it's electric in here. And everyone's excited. The Packers are rolling in. Jordan Love is not Jordan Love yet. He's going to become that, obviously. And then I was nervous about that game. Hoodie was as well. All week long, I'm like, I don't like this matchup. I don't feel real good about where we're at as a football team, and they lose 38 to 20. Now, 12 months later, the hype is even more on a control, but I like the matchup, and I like the football team. Please compare and contrast for me a year ago to now. Compare and contrast, when you talk about the electricity inside the stadium. And I talked about it in the broadcast of the game. I was disappointed by seeing all these green Bay jerseys filtering into the stadium before I saw Bears colors coming in. And I'm talking to Jeff and talking to guys on the sideline going, what the hell are we looking at here? And because of the way that tickets can be bought and sold now in season ticket holders are trying to make money for the bigger games, Green Bay is willing to drive down here for the day and buy tickets. I don't expect to see that in the stands come Sunday. I expect to see an overwhelming amount of blue and orange, and these guys that once the stadium opens and they start filtering down to the lower bowl, that is our Bears fans. It's not, you know, Tennessee Titan. I know it's an eight hour drive, but last year, I was super disappointed in the amount of Green Bay color. This year, I want, I want to be not surprised, but I want to be impressed by the amount of bare blue and orange. Matt Ira flew us yesterday in this press conference, talked about the importance of starting fast. I think it's, it's, it's always important. You know, if you do, just look at the numbers, look at who makes it to the, to the postseason. They start fast, but I showed that debt to the guys in the spring. You know, they were at least two and two, most were three and one, and some were a couple were four and over in the NFC. So I, we did talk about that under the guys that understand how important it is to start fast. - So your question, Cap, talking about confidence in week one versus last year. - Yeah, just what we see on the grass and we were healthier, much healthier throughout the course of training camp. You know, last year we had dealt with a bunch of injuries, bunch of guys out at certain key spots. So I think that hurt the continuity of the group. I know we lost a couple guys' injury early on in the season as well, but, but just that more continuity, better competition because the roster's better. I think that's really helped us in the skill positions, at the line position, the quarterback, all position. - Matt, he refludes the head coach for the Bears. - Yeah, and listening to him and talk about, yes, they're healthier and yes, they have more talent here. I don't think that there's really an injury that I'm concerned about. Are you, Tom? - I am not. You know, I, I think they are the healthy group of guys coming into the stadium on Sunday. - Well, you know, my question though is when you talk about starting fast, are you talking about the big picture of within those first four games, try to come out of that three and one? Or are you talking about starting fast and with the first half, make sure you jump on your opponent so you can get the lead? That's kind of a double-edged sword to me because last year, when you talk about that Green Bay game, I really wasn't impressed by the initial effort coming out of the locker room and the excitement didn't match the electricity in the stadium. So I need to see the, you know, the stadium filled with an electricity because it's being supported by the effort on the field. And if that happens, then I'm encouraged by that starting fast. If the other starting fast, let's re-address this after four games and see where we're at. - Under Brian Callahan and the Tennessee Titans, Tom, is anything that stands out most to you about Tennessee that the Bears should be wary of? - Like I talked about, they're willingness to blitz from a lot of different levels. I saw some blitzes in the preseason where they put a number of bodies to the right-hand side of the offense and then they blitz the second-level linebacker backed up by a third-level safety. So now you have to realize, okay, that third-level linebacker is the responsibility of one of the offensive linemen. That third-level safety, a lot of time, is the responsibility of the quarterback or they're going to say, "You got to keep a back into the backfield," then you have one less receiver. So I am concerned about their multiple-level blitzers against a rookie quarterback early in the season. And then, you know, like I was saying yesterday, I'm not a big fan of nepotism in the NFL because I don't like to see a head coach that hires half of his family members at part of the staff. However, when you look at Brian Callahan, the most important hire he made this year is hiring Bill Callahan, his dad. Because he's one of the better offensive line coaches in the National Football League, he's got a big resume, he's got a lot of experience. So if you need a sounding board as a first-time head coach, it's nice to be able to go back to one of the most important position coaches on the field and be able to have a sounding board that's going to tell you the truth. In terms of watching the game on Sunday, and I'll have the sound up with you and Jeff because it's just so good, watching that game, though, I'll have the big screen monitor going, at the end of one quarter, what will make you happy other than the Bears having a 28-point lead? What would make you happy if you watch something, you go, that happened, I'm in a good place, or that didn't happen, I'm concerned? Nate Davis against Jeffrey Simmons, because here's a guy that's a former Tennessee Titan, then they both know each other. And if you know the pros and cons of each player, who's getting the better of each other? Because when you talk about Jeffrey Simmons, the closest player to a quarterback is that defensive tackle position. So now if they put Nate in a position to succeed, they have multiple formations, a lot of different types of protections, and he's winning the battle, I'm going to be a lot more encouraged. If I see Caleb and Caleb running for his life, or the running game, the interior, the running game being shut down because of, then I'm going to have some concerns. And I know it's not DJ or Keenan or Cole or DeAndre, but when you talk about the development of a young quarterback, a first-time starter in the NFL, and a guy that's going to finally realize the actual speed of the game for the first time in his professional life on Sunday, that's a battle that is going to play an important role in the success of the offense. All right, let's go back, Tom. You've got to do this every week with us. So bears against the Houston Oilers. They've now, Tennessee Titans, but back then Houston Oilers. October 12th, 1986, Bears win that game 20 to 7, and the Bears are 6-0. Do what do you recall against the Houston Oilers? That's the one that we played in Chicago, right? Correct. All right, they had a really good defensive lineman. I think his name was Ray Childers. Actually, one of my football cards is from that game, and that's at blocking him. And my, you know, my whole remembrances of most of these games is the type of fronts that we are facing, because I can go back. We opened up with Cleveland one year, the first game of the year, and I gave up a sack to Sam Clancy, and it's haunted me ever since, because I was going, "Oh my God, I'm on pace to give up 16 sacks this season." And I didn't give up another one for a long period, but I just remember getting ready to play against Childers because he was a really good dominant defensive lineman at that time. And because we didn't play him that often, you really don't have a book on him. It's about you learn a little bit something every down in every series. So that is Jim McMahon against Warren Moon capping that game. So Jimmy, 13 for 33, good for 209 yards, had an interception, had a sack. Walter ran for 76 yards in 22 attempts. And of course, the defense, there's five sacks in that game, they got to moon five times. So a 27 win for the Chicago bear. Yeah, Ray Childress played at Texas A&M and played for the Oilers and the Dallas Cowboys. He's 61 years of age right now. Yeah, I'm 63. And so we are kind of at the same time. I remember him coming out of college and he had a really good career. He's a really good athlete, a good football player, a lot of similarities to a guy like Dan Hampton really long and was a good athlete. Yeah, he says here in his bio, 66-272, man, if I could have faced Thayer, I would have had more than 76 and a half. Tommy is always, we appreciate it, man. Have a great call. Awesome. Thanks, you guys. Hey, I'll see you tonight. Yes, sir. I'll see you beat volleyball. Bring your A game. I always bring my A game. We got it. See you boys. Tom Thayer brought to you by Village of Rosemont located just outside the city. Rosemont is your one-stop destination for fun. Rosemont, it's all here. There you go with Tom Thayer on the hotline. The Karak's tire and I don't have it. I love talking football with that dude. He is so good. And by the way, I gave some other thought at the break proceeding. All in on the step, mom. All in. So there's further thought than what you already had. All in. Okay. Because Dr. Bruce says no, that's terrible. Did he say that? Yeah, he did. Dr. Bruce Kaplan feels like that that's vomit inducing. That's what he said. He would not do that. You do you, kid. I'll do me. I'm all in. That's fine. You can't use that phrase because this is all hypothetical. There is no you do you. That doesn't work because there is no dead dad. There is no step mom in that spot. Well, it's a hypothetical. But if I was in that situation, hot step, mom, in lazy. We are tour and we're doing it better than anybody else. Chicago's home for sports. ESPN Chicago. It's the cap and J. Good morning show on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN, Chicago. Speaking of streaming, our video streaming on Twitch, twitch.tv/ESP in 1000 Chicago. And on YouTube is brought to you by Buffalo Wild Wings score six free wings when the bears forced to take away all season at B dubs. So we expect the defense to take a step. Think about that score six free wings when the bears forced to take away all season at Buffalo Wild Wings. Tremendous. Tru. Mendes. And we get that bears minute that they sponsor each week here on the station. Tell you what's going on with the Chicago Bears. And it's hard to believe that tonight, we're going to literally whether you're streaming it, whether you're in front of the big screen in the hood cave football back. It's insane. Oh, it's great. Like real football. Charlie Bevins, we're going to need a little football music here because we are going to give our hottest take for the 2024 NFL season. Now, again, I am not one to give takes. I've never given a take in my career. We just do show we have fun. I've given this is going to be rare for me, Shay. I don't do takes. I just give just those old fashioned home spun opinions about sports. That's what I do. Just a home spun opinion. So Charlie, we're going to need a little something to get us going. And that's perfect. Isn't this NFL Phil? It's great. Charlie, he knows, he knows what I like. My goodness. I love it. So here's my old home spun opinion about the NFL. How about this cap? We will have a trade at the deadline for Devonta Adams. He will not be a Vegas Raider the entire season. That's one of them for sure. Again, we're talking about a guy that has played well with Vegas. But you know what? He signed through 2026. Yeah, to me, I think that Adams, even though he said, I never said that. I don't know where he's getting that from when he heard from Deshawn Jackson. Right. Deshawn Jackson said it on Colin Coward's show. Devonta Adams will not be a Raider all season. That's one. Las Vegas receiver, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver. Devonta Adams took exception to former NFL wide out Deshawn Jackson's recent claim that Adams was not happy in Las Vegas. This is yesterday at the press conference. Quote, at the end of the day, the facts are the facts. And that is not a fact. He said as the Raiders prepare for their season opener at the Chargers on Sunday. Quote, I've probably spoken to Deshawn Jackson maybe three or four times in my life. And I never had a conversation about this ever. And I put that on my kids. I've never spoken to about anything. He said the only person with whom I share my feelings is my wife. And she ain't out there leaking anything and dropping stuff like that in the media, he said. If it ain't from the horse's mouth, it's probably bullboying. All right. He will be traded. That's how we get to the deadline. We're gonna find out, kid. Cap, your how does take for the 2024 season? I don't do takes. I just give opinions. Some people think I'm nuts and I'm cool with that. Dak Prescott is your 2024 NFL MVP. Take that, Shay. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. All right, Shay, what do you think? Dak Prescott NFL MVP. What's more likely to happen between the two that we just gave? Devonta Adam's getting traded. All right. I think I'm gonna throw a card out. Ready? Here's my next card. My next card I'm gonna throw out is Marvin Harrison is gonna be better than Pukka Nakua's rookie season. Now again, how's he gonna get the ball? Kyle Murray will be running around left and right like he does with his little legs and be able to get the ball down the field to Marvin Harrison. But Harrison will have a better year than Nakua's rookie season. How about that? Cardinal Sugami last place now. I'm just saying like that's I think that's gonna happen. Nakua had 1,486 receiving yards last year, 105 receptions. Yeah. I think that Harrison could do that. Throw a card out. Give you a card. Yeah, just throw a throw at a prediction out there for yourself. Bonix will have a better rookie year than Jaden Daniels. Hey, you listen to me. I didn't know he listened to me. I listened to him. You agree with him? Bonix will be better than Jaden Daniels. He's got a better tutor of quarterbacks working with him. He's more of a classic NFL style quarterback. And while I think Jaden Daniels is wonderfully gifted, I'm not telling he's not a talented cat. I just think he's in a rough situation. They're a long way. They've got to rebuild their odd sentence there. All right. More classic NFL quarterback. What do you mean by that, Cap? Because he's going to a coach that throws the football. He is a classic drop back guy. He's not anywhere near as athletic. African American quarterback. I'm right again. Sneaky athlete. Bill Polian joins us. He's got grit. That is not what I said. Bill Polian on the car. He's got a motor. He's got a high IQ. Lamar Lamar's fast. First one in last one out. He lives in the film room. Oh God. Open up the old textbook. Go ahead, Cap. Go ahead. Do it. Lamar's fast, but this kid here. First one to leave. We're first one to get there. Last one to leave. He's got a two parent home. Bright. Bright. But he really thinks through the game. There you go, Cap. There you go. I just was not that huge on Jaden Daniels when he got drafted. It wasn't. Now I'm not telling you how to take in bone exit number two. And Jaden Daniels is an incredibly gifted guy. I mean, his deep ball accuracy at LSU was outstanding. And he's a way better athlete that Bonix. So it was Justin Fields. Justin, I didn't feel did a very good job at surveying the scene. Oh. But I thought Caleb Williams was clearly the number one quarterback in the draft. Bonix, I think, is in a better situation for early success, especially with Sean Payton. And a high motor. I don't know about his motor. High like high IQ though. I don't know about his IQ. I just know what I've watched in the preseason, what I've read about him. Smart with the football. And I listen to Shay. I trust Shay's football acumen. How about Jane Daniel? Shay doesn't like Jane. I don't. I do not like Jaden Daniels. Do you still trust my football acumen when my hot take of the 2024 season? So the giants are going to contend and potentially win the NFC East. And I fade the Duke and say that the ball will be fired at the end of the season. That's what that's what I go. That's my biggest bold take. Yeah, I don't think that they have enough enough offensive weaponry. Neighbors is a really good football player. I'm not a huge Daniel Jones guy, but they're front four of Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, KVON Thibodeau, those three maniacs up front. That's as good as it gets in terms of a pass rush from your front four. That they're loaded up there and loaded. I think their offensive line is vastly improved. They went out and got Devin Singletary who's a break and mistackled machine. Here's another one. This goes into the take category cap. This is not like the, you know, home spun just run-of-the-mill football opinion. How about this? I think we can almost say it now. Charlie, how about this one? You ready? I think on the board here for our predictions, I think I have Cleveland last in the AFC North. I think I do. I think I have the Browns. Cap, let me tell you something. If the Browns don't make the playoffs this year, shout out to our teammates at ESPN Cleveland. If they don't make the playoffs, this will be the biggest worst deal, the worst biggest deal that we've ever seen in the NFL. And I'm talking about Ricky Williams in the coach in New Orleans or the big deal with Minnesota and Dallas. I want you to think about how much money is on the line with DeShawn Watson. Oh, God. And it's all guaranteed. It might be the worst contract we've ever seen. I want you to think about the deal. Cap, I mean, like the Ricky Williams deal that the coach did with the New Orleans Saints was ridiculous. He put it all on Ricky Williams, who smoked his way out of the league. He did. He did. Okay. Okay. So then the big deal, the deal that built the Dallas Cowboys, all those players, the Herschel Walker deal, wasn't that Minnesota? That was the Herschel Walker deal. You got the polls trade with Carolina Panthers. And that, I don't know exactly what they gave up. It was a lot, but the contract is onerous because you can't get out of it. You got to pay all that $230 million in money. Cap, this might be the worst thing we've ever seen. It's one of them. They better win this year. Because for that money, and you paid for his legal bills and all that too, if you can't win with DeShawn Watson, then what are you doing? Like this is done. If they can't get to the playoffs, that'll be all. Then Stafansky gets fired. We know how their owners operate the Haslams, Jimmy and Dee, they are not patient people. So, Wauchay, what do you think? Worse? This is probably going to be a shot of no shot for you sometime this fall. This could be the worst deal we've ever seen. 230 million guaranteed and not make the playoffs again. Especially when you consider the quarterback that they had, got healthy, got an opportunity, and won a division and a playoff game last year. Oops. Fully guaranteed money. Owners are furious and everybody involved. They're angry that the contract even happened. They could result in some serious problems with the CBA. Yeah, this might be one of the worst deals, if not the worst deal in NFL history. Seriously, man. They can't get it done. Again, as a refresher, the Browns traded first round picks in 2022, 2023 and 2024, an exchange for Watson, along with a third rounder in 2023 and fourth round picks in 2022 and 2024 and gave him a massive contract. That's a lot. That's a ton. I understand you looking for that franchise quarterback, but did you know that the massage king, that the oil rig that is the Sean Watson was going to be in all this trouble? It's not just that he hasn't lived up to the contract. It's that he's been one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL since he's been on Cleveland. Like he's been borderline unplayable. Warren Sharp the other day posted his highlight reel, low light reel, and it was like the dumbest throws ever in the history of the NFL. The Sean Watson, like on his back foot, falling backwards, just lofts it to a defender. The Sean Watson climbing in the pocket, delivering everything he had on a football that just came out of the hand, slow, and was about 10 yards short of his receiver. Like he might just stink. Love the brother next to you. Just saying. Okay, so let's test the cap and J. Hood nation. Big football fans. You guys talk too much cubs. You guys talk too much. Okay. So we have laid out all of our big, bold predictions or McBold takes. All right, three, one, two, three, three, two ESPN, three, three, two, three, seven, seven, six, cap and I want to find out from you. Out of everything bears or anything else NFL, what is your hottest take as we get ready for the 2024 season starts tonight. We got Kansas City and we got Baltimore starts tonight on Thursday night football, the lit lifter. We're asking you what is your biggest takeaway, your biggest take for the bears or the NFL season calling right now before we get to our cut of the day. We'll take your phone calls in that next big football fans. Listen, huh? Let's hear your big prediction on cap and J hood. Bring it on. Follow Chicago's home for sports on Twitter at ESPN 1000. Cap and J. Hood are back on ESPN Chicago, Chicago's home for sports. It's a cap and J. Hood morning show on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. Cap is going to be out and about today with Tom Thayer. That should be fun watching volleyball. That sounds like fun. We're calling the volleyball tournament at North Avenue Beach from four to nine tonight over by castaways. And it is going to be a blast, man. A blast. Sounds good. Want to give us a preview? Some of the players we're going to be seeing. I have no idea. They haven't sent anything over. We'll figure it out. I thought you had some depth charts for us or something. Some players to watch. It is not it is not going to be that kind of a play by play. Oh, what kind will it be? Well, take that pretty much. They asked. They asked us to please be the two guys from Dodgeball. Okay. You could do that. We could do that. Yes. You're bringing a wrencher. Not that guy from Dodgeball. The two announcers. Okay. You got to pay double for that kind of action, Cotton. What a great movie. It's about so funny. I love that movie. So we're just going to have fun. We're going to have the iPad going with the Chiefs and the Ravens. We'll update the crowd on that game. Yeah. Let's go. All right. It's time for the audience. It's time for Cap and J. Hood nation to give their opinions about the NFL cap. You know why? Because we have so many listeners. You'd be surprised, Cap. You go to some of these bars on Sunday. You're locked in on the Bears. You go to some of these. There's Cowboys fans here. There's Eagles fans here. There's Giants fans and live here. Colts fans in the Chicago area. And of course, we have listeners from all over the country. So let's go. We're not here to judge. We're just here to listen. 3 1 2 3 3 2 3 7 7 6. Wickball predictions as we go to Oakland. Here's Dylan on Cap and J. Hood. Dylan, good morning. Hey, how you doing? Great. Okay. I have a hot take. I believe that Jared golf will throw for over 5,000 yards this year. I don't think that's a hot take. He's got a ton of weapons. Jameson Williams is 100% healthy now from the ACL. He suffered and he was already back last year. They got the best offensive line in the National Football League, the single best right tackle in the game in Penay Sewell. They got David Montgomery, Jameer Gibbs, a Monra Saint Brown. Yeah, I don't think that's a hot take at all. I think he could absolutely do that. Plus playing half his games indoors. Yes. 100%. Good job, Dylan. Appreciate your telephone call. We go to Schomburg. Here's Danny on Cap and J. Hood. Danny, good morning. Good morning. How are you? Good morning, Danny. Good. It's not your Schomburg. How are you? Happy opening day. I'm so jacked my plums. I'm telling you, I can't wait till 7 20 tonight. I love Baltimore, but here's my hot take and cap or you guys think I can maybe bet this is like an exotic and make it. I want to take my hot take is Cleveland won't make the playoffs. Detroit's not going to the Super Bowl and Dallas isn't going to the Super Bowl. Can I go to a book out there and bet that? That's can you? Well, Cap, can you do that? First of all, that's a winner. But secondly, yeah. Okay, you said who Dallas and who? Dallas and Detroit. No, no Super Bowl. They, one of them might get to the conference, but they digress and then Cleveland is not making the playoffs. They're going to choke. I think you could go and parlay. Yeah. I'm sure that there's an opportunity to go, will they make the Super Bowl? It's going to be that obviously that's going to be very short odds. To say they won't make it to the Super Bowl, because it's so hard to do that. But to say the to parlay in there, the Brown's not making the playoffs, that three leg parlay would be decent. Yeah. I like a cat. Yeah, cap. Do you remember what Big Frank told you about new genix? I don't. Mindy, you'll notice the difference too. Wow. Not really having a problem in that department kid, but might have to look into it. Huh? Three one, two, three, two, three, seven, seven, six, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven. I had a step mom. Okay, you don't need that for the step mom either. Apparently, probably not. We go to Allison. Where is this cap? More than Grove? Alex? Alex, where are you? Warrenville Warrenville. Oh, this goofball. It masquerades us an executive producer, occasionally. He has Mortonville. No, no, that's been Warrenville, but okay. I know I had three little one just to hear that. But I don't think the number one needed in the NSD. The Packers will host the Bears in the number two series of 17 playoff and the Bills and Lions will meet in the Super Bowl. Bills line Super Bowl. Hmm. That's definitely possible. It says here Cowboys will be the best team of the NFL. You don't feel that way. Do you? No, they're going to be the number one team seed wise, number one team overall. But everyone will be like that. That's garbage, hot trash. It not really full gold at the end of the day. I see. Okay. Now, here's there's a vote for the Bills. Rare, but there's a vote for the Bills to get to the Super Bowl and win it about that. They're a really good football. I think that by the end of this season, I don't even know how bold this is. I think we're going to decidedly talk about Josh Allen as the number two quarterback in the NFL, and it won't be a conversation between him and Joe Burr. It will be Mahomes Allen and everybody else. Oh, that's strong. That's really strong. I'll tell you, Josh Allen's going to win MVP this year. All right. Let me move on now to James. That's it. He's winning MVP. Hold on James. Let's introduce you for God's sakes. But first, I just want to just point this out. So he's going to get the MVP. Will he fumble the trophy? That's the question. James and Palatine on Captain Jayla. James, good morning. What's up, y'all? Good morning. Hey, Josh, I will not be MVP this year. I'll tell you who it will be. BJ Stroud. Oh God. You're too. Stroud, huh? Yes, sir. Sir. Oh, what's the odds on that, Cap? C.J. Stroud is MVP. Will he be in the top 10 in that kind of in that conversation? That's the question, James, we're asking like you say C.J. Stroud and tell us why. Why do you feel that way? The rookie season that young man had, I just feel like he's going to get even better. 12 doing the fact that they have to find big on the team too, along with Nico Collins and Joe makes it. And I'll also say that too, I have Houston penciling in as in the ASU Championship game. I don't know whether they play in Baltimore, Kansas City, but I'm all filled in on Houston. I got to Michael Ryan's as coach of the year. That's as far as I go with you. I love that team. Yeah. Patrick Mahomes, four and a half to one. Josh Allen, excuse me, eight to one. Joe Burrow, 10 to one. C.J. Stroud and Jalen hurts 12 to one. That's an interesting play, right? C.J. Stroud, tell you an interesting ticket, Aaron Rogers, 20 to one. No shot. We go to Eddie from the north side on Caboachéhood. Eddie, good morning. Where have you been, Eddie? Good morning. San Francisco and the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl and Joe Burrow wins his first Super Bowl, and Brock Purdy brings his team to the second Super Bowl and loses. And John Candy in the stands. And who'd you say, Cincinnati and San Francisco? Yeah. Yeah. John Candy in the said, what movie was that? Was that draft date? Yeah, that was draft date. All right, boys, I love your show. Hey, Eddie, what's the record the bears are going to have? I hope they do good. I didn't ask you that. I have one prediction on the point spread in the guys picking bears by four. So I don't know. I'm kind of leaning taking the points, but I mean, I hope what I'm looking at. I think it was overrated last year. I think they had one quality win was against Detroit. All the other teams, I don't even need to go through all the quarterbacks, Hoyer, Hinky, Dobbs that they played with to boost their defense up against very weak teams. So I'm interested not on the offense, because they have a lot of star power there. I'm interested to see what defense we're going to have. What was it just a shadow of these bad teams that they played last year? Or I don't know, maybe these picks that we got or there'll be a good difference. But I don't know. I don't see it. I see the problem is the defense and not the offense coming up for the bears. All right, my friend, we appreciate telephone. Have a great day for those that need us to whiteboard that that's 1989 with San Francisco against Cincinnati. Montana's driving and he looks up in the stands and tells the guys, Hey guys, is that John Candy? The players looking at him like he's got turds for earrings. Like what are you talking about? Just trying to calm the waters. Correct. Yeah. And so that's what that comes from 49ers in the bingles back in 89. We have the Captain Jay Hood cut of the day is right around the corner on Chicago's home for sport. Captain Jay Hood are back. And you know this man, Chicago's home for sports. ESPN Chicago Got time for the Captain Jay Hood cut of the day. It's brought to you by my friend David Flom, my friend Matt Moore in their awesome Chicago cut steakhouse. Yes, it's boring, but it's a sport. Whatever. It's not boring. Okay, then you're boring. All right. You can't start with no shot. How hot is she in the same breath? I handed it. I had to think up through the whole process. Ask some questions. Once I thought about it, that's hot. We're both in our 30s. Yeah, all in. That's so that's so sloppy and so lazy. Why should I let someone else have all the fun? If she and I already have a good relationship, you don't know if it's fun until you've been there. Well, I've been around her and I know that I like her. She's a good person. Yeah, but but sexually, no, why not? Take a spin and see. And get home, folks. The Captain Jay Hood cut of the day. Brought to you by David Flom and Matt Moore's amazing Chicago cut steakhouse. Gorgeous weather today. Nice warm summer day. Let's go. Go there. Get the burger. It's Thursday night football tonight. Start your day with the burger three day process to make the fries, which are as fresh and amazing as you'll find anywhere and get a cold beer, maybe try the mineral ice cream pie for dessert and then go watch football later. Thank me later. Jimmy and Cicero on Captain Jay Hood. Jimmy. All right. Can you guys hear me? Yes. Go ahead, sir. Loud clear, kid. All right. Harvest can learn an awful division. The Atlanta Falcons will be the number one C to the NFC and Kirk Cousins will be a top three MVP candidate strong. How about that? We'll analyze that per cousin's MVP candidate. He's in a situation where he has a chance with Bijon Robinson, Tyler Algier, a head coach that likes to run a football, Drake London and Kyle Pitts, Darnell Mooney, a solid offensive line, and they've upgraded their defense. Absolutely a legitimate shot at being the MVP. How about that downtown Dean? I love it. I have another take. Danny Zetterman will lift the band for Michelin Displays this season and the chief will finish first in that division. But look out for the Denver Broncos. Me and Shane Norling are in lockstep, baby. I'm leaving. I'm on that plane. I don't know when I'll be back again and only on you on the train, but also you're underwater. There's a little gargly there. It's a gurgly. Michelin Displays. Danny says good morning, everyone. That happened. He's saying hello. What's this? Michelin Displays. It's a bears and football Friday tomorrow. Join us. Thank you, Shay. Thank you, Charlie. We'll talk to you Friday morning at seven. So long, everybody. What falls back, baby? Take that! From Chicago.
