Your community is here and we're lifting each other up. Here from some Longhorn players. First of all, Anthony Hill. A lot of fun to visit with is Hill and also a guy who stands a chance to be somebody really, really good. He had a very, I'll call it noticeable freshman season. And since then after that, it has been really good. And he was good the other day. And so it was a 52-0 win as we know of our Colorado State, yet the players will tell you they can be better, the coaches will tell you to be better. And one of the questions for Anthony Hill was, was the team physical enough in this contest to take the opener? I feel like we did a great job, but it can always be better. Of course, we know we're going into next week. We know we've got to be more physical. We know what type of battle we're getting into. So, was it a good feeling then to shut out Colorado State? It felt good, especially seeing some of the young guys in, where they had a peek. It felt good seeing like guys like, Tony, Anthony, Ben, and Marc, she getting in. So it felt good seeing some of them. You know, when it got into the fourth quarter of the game, we were talking about how really and truly the only remaining mystery, because this was after Archmanding had come in the ball game and directed a touchdown drive. And Sark and his staff were pretty much unloading the bench just about everybody was getting on the field, including Brady Sarkeesian, by the way. If you didn't notice, the coaches kid was out there at linebacker. So these guys were getting on the field. They were still scoring still moving the ball, things like that with all the backup. So the one remaining question was, could they finish the shutout? They had not had a shutout in a season opener in 20 years. 2004 was the last time it happened when Texas shut out, North Texas, 65 to nothing in them. That's the last time. So the question was put to Anthony Hill, were they talking about that shutout on the sidelines when even he was still in the rotation and then even after the starters had been pulled out of the game. We wanted to keep that zero on the board just for a milestone for us as a team. Yeah, all right. So they had that. And then maybe you notice this, there's a new turnover celebration. I guess Miami might have started with the turnover chain and then he had some, and then what was it? It was like an Excalibur, a sword, is that what it was? So the name of it is Tex caliber. Tex caliber. That's what the Texas defense is calling it. Okay. Tex caliber. So are you going to work that into the broadcast this weekend? If it comes up, Tex caliber? Yes, I am. I think I will. I think I will on the sideline because it will mean they've come up with a turn up, right? So and then whether they like run through a football, I guess a deflated football. Was it already was a football or a deflator? Do they actually, I don't think they, I don't think they stab and run it through because because safety has like, what did you like, when all of a sudden the sword is in the Anthony Hills foot? Yeah, I think it's, I think it's already deflated. You just kind of did. I'm sure start in peak air. Like, no, no, no, you're not going to be deflating footballs on the sideline. Tom Brady's not coming over here. We don't want you to lose in foot. I could go wrong with that. Yes. So anyway, you know, that sort of thing. So, you know, then the players were asked about this thing and Anthony Hills asked about what does this deal with the football, the sword, that sort of thing with the new, you know, turnover thing, celebration that they have now. And you'll hear a follow up from our friend, Jeff Jones, a cave you about this as well. And when Anthony Hills asked about this new turnover celebration, it was something new. We all decided to come up with. So we just liked it. We just incorporated into the team. What does it mean? Is it just the, just keeping track of some of the tone of each of the game, just something to celebrate for the defense for getting a turnover? Okay. All right. That's fine. So that, why not? Okay. That's, that's on the defensive side. Now on the offensive side, I was asked about this. I was on with our friends from the ticket in Dallas this morning, good friends, longtime friends, Craig Miller and George Dunham. And they were asking me about the chemistry, the synergism of Quinn Ewers and the new receiving core. And I said, you know, that was a big question during the fall camp was how quickly would the transfer portal guys, as well as the new guy, like a Ryan Wingo, how quickly would those guys be able to adapt? And could they be as productive? Or how long might it take them to be as productive? As saying Xavier worthy and, you know, an 80 Mitchell, those guys, how, you know, how would it all roll in? Well, they were pretty impressive. I think everybody will agree. And so Matthew Golden was one of those guys. Now I pointed this out that Golden and Isaiah Bond both showed Texas up close and personal first hand last year, what they could do when Texas played their former schools, when Texas played at Alabama and Bond called a touchdown when Texas played Houston and Golden called a touchdown. They got a chance to see that first hand plus what Golden could do in the kick return game. So they knew going in and then once both of those guys entered the portal, the long ones offered them the opportunity and they accepted it. So Matthew Golden was one of those guys. And here's Golden who caught two touchdown passes, including the no look throw from Quinn Ewers, also had a big catch down the boundary. And he was asked, what was it that really kind of clicked for him or why he came to Texas? And sure, what got Matthew Golden to Texas? Really just the connection with Coach Jackson and Coach Sartre, you know, just building that connection. When I entered the border, it was just, I mean, it was just outstanding. And when I took my visit, it just, it felt like home, you know, Austin not too far from Houston. So it was a no-brainer for me. Yeah, remember, Matthew Golden is from Klein, King in the Houston area. In fact, he was a high school teammate of Jaden Blue. And so it was a very comfortable fit and feeling for him. Now back to that chemistry thing, because again, it was discussed at length, you know, what the chemistry might be like for these guys. And how long would it take Quinn Ewers to develop that relationship with these newer targets, with Matthew Golden, with Isaiah Bond? Ryan Wingler, like we said, is a youngster coming in with Silas Bolton, with Amari Dye Black going in to tie it in. So, you know, how long might that take? And he was, you know, asked about what the wide receivers and Quinn Ewers did together in the off season to try to develop that chemistry. Just coming to practice every day working with Quinn, you know, the defense giving us good looks. So just me coming out there, just trying to get better each and every day, you know, it's just me putting my best before, you know, Quinn. Quinn is an unbelievable quarterback. I feel like he the best quarterback we have, you know, you know, just having him. It just makes everything easier. You know, in short, chemistry just doesn't happen. It has to be built. It has to be developed. It has to grow. But this came about pretty quickly. And so Matthew Golden was asked was he surprised that it developed so fast here at Texas. I would say, I mean, just having an eventual quarterback like that, you know, it makes everything easier on a receiver. So just me going out there knowing what I got to do, each and every play. I mean, just playing comfortable. That's all. Okay. So there is all of that. But, you know, that sort of thing, like we said, doesn't necessarily develop overnight. And one thing that does help is depth. When you look at it on one side, you've got Isaiah Bond and Ryan Wingo. And don't forget about Ryan Niblet, who can also see time and did in the backfield. On the other side, you got Matthew Golden, Silas Bolden. In the slot, you have DeAndre Moore and John Tae Cook. At the tight end, you've got Gunnar Hill, Maury and I, Black and Juan Davis. So there's plenty of past catching targets. I think what was it? Kirk Bowles for the Austin American Statesman asked when viewers have had enough footballs because of the fact he's got so many targets. So Matthew Golden was also echoing those responses when he was talking about the depth that this team possesses at the wide receiver spot. Yeah. I mean, we've got a lot of weapons. I mean, all room deep. So, you know, just having guys like that in the room, you know, it drives you to come in there and compete each and every day. That's a big part of it. So anyway, we'll hear more from these guys. And we'll hear some from Quinn viewers coming up as well over the course of the next couple hours of the show. All right. To let you know, yes, the brand new hot off the press, college football rankings are out. The new edition. And Texas has moved up a spot. The first two spots remain the same. Georgia's number one, Ohio State is number two. And Georgia has a pretty significantly, both in the AP top 25 and in the coaches top 25 poll, Georgia's number one, Ohio State's number two. And then there's a pretty good step down there to the number three spot. But that's where we find Texas now. Longers moved up one spot in both polls. They are solidly in third, but well off the pace of second in the ballad in both polls, both the AP and the coaches. So it's Georgia number one, Ohio State number two. Texas is third. Alabama moved up one spot from number four to number five, number five to number four. Notre Dame following its win over Texas. Now these are the AP rankings right now. There are some changes in the AP ranking. It's Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Alabama up one spot. Notre Dame up two spots following the win over Texas A&M from number seven to number five. Ole Miss held its spot at number six. In the coaches poll, Ole Miss moved up one spot from six to five. Oregon, which had been number four, dropped three spots in the coaches poll because of that struggle they had with Idaho. They dropped three spots in the AP poll. And they dropped three spots in the coaches poll. I want to make sure I got this right. They actually dropped four spots in the AP poll for number three to number seven. They dropped three spots in the coaches poll from number three to number six. Then the coaches poll has Notre Dame just holding its spot at number seven. They did not bump them. They bumped two spots in the AP, AP poll, but the coaches poll they held at number seven. Both polls have been stated eight. AP has Missouri nine and Michigan 10 dropping one spot in the Wolverines because of their struggle for the better part of three quarters plus against Fresno State. They dropped from nine to 10. In the coaches poll, Michigan dropped one spot from eight to nine. In fact, they swapped places with Penn State. Penn State up from nine to eight, Michigan at nine, and then Missouri, the top 10. So the same 10 schools are in both polls is just a little bit of variation in some of the rankings. Second 10 in both polls begins with Utah at 11. Miami is 12 in the AP poll. It jumped seven spots with that pretty demonstrative win at Florida. Tennessee went up three spots and went to number 12. USC is 13 in the AP. Oklahoma 13 in the coaches, Tennessee 14 in the AP, USC 14 in the coaches, Oklahoma 15 in the AP, Miami 15 in the coaches, then it's Oklahoma State 16, Kansas State 17 in the AP flip fly from for the coaches, K state 16, Oklahoma State 17, LSU dropped five spots following the the loss to USC from 13 to 18 in the AP, Arizona up to 18 in the coaches, Kansas up three spots to 19 after thumping Lindenwood. LSU went down seven spots in the coaches to number 19. Arizona's 20 in the AP went up one spot. Kansas went up four spots or 20 in the coaches. Iowa's 21 in both rankings, Louisville, which was not in the poll last week, is in at number 22. Georgia Tech is 23. This is the AP NC State number 24 and Clemson fell 11 spots following the loss last week to Georgia from number 14 to number 25. And the rest of the coaches poll is Clemson 22 NC State 23. Louisville 24 Washington is 25 there in the rankings. So there's your AP and coaches top 25 rankings. All right, coming up next and yes, Florida State dropped out of the poll. Now, O and two after losing is not only did they drop out of the poll, Florida State dropped completely off the face of the earth in terms of even being mentioned, they didn't even get a vote of any kind from any one, both in the AP and the coaches completely out, not even in the others receiving votes at 0 and 2. Up next, inconceivable. Some might feel that Florida State being 0 and 2 is inconceivable, but it'll lead us inconceivable.
