Colorado holds off NDSU, UNC defeats Minnesota despite losing QB

Week One of the College Football Season began last night with Deion Sanders and the Coloardo Buffaloes beginning their season against North Dakota State. Led by Travis Hunters' three touchdowns, the Buffs held off NDSU at home. Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels were able to defeat Minnesota after a would be game-winning field goal was missed by the Golden Gophers. Craig and Cam recap the action as Hour 2 begins!

Craigway with you on the road today up to the Dallas forward Metroplex with a football game to call for television tonight and then the high school scoreboard live show and then back down obviously to Austin for tomorrow's season opener for the Texas Longhorns as they will take on the Colorado state Rams. Camera Parker, of course, in the studio as well. All right. Break down for me, Cam, what you watched last night. And if you could put a percentage on what you watched, you know, in terms of, I'm assuming you watched quite a bit of football, but put it percentage what you watched of which games and levels of football that you watched last night. So begin with Howard first Rutgers yesterday that I kicked off at 6 p.m. So we wrapped up our show yesterday and all doing the post show stuff and getting ready for today and tomorrow got to watch little Rutgers Howard. That was fun. And then by the time I got home, all the seven o'clock games were kicking off. So I had to put on Colorado in North Dakota state. That was a fun game, a fun first half where Colorado was down early. Travis Hunter was making plays and then eventually Colorado in the second half, the defense limited North Dakota state. I think just around about a hundred yards after getting diced up in the first half. Travis Hunter retouched downs. I think he, he's my sneaky Heisman pick this season. And then at the same time was following along with UNC Minnesota. Most of the other games were kind of out of hand pretty early on. I mean, Arkansas, you know, Arkansas pine bluff. I mean, maybe they should think about not playing that game, at least for a couple of years. Cause that was ugly, very, very, very quickly. So in most of the other games too, or we're out of hand for the most part, except for UNC Minnesota. As we talked about in the first hour of the show, of course, Max Johnson, just a, a really tough injury. That was just awful to see the, the former, uh, Texas native Maggie who's actually a native North Carolina, North Carolinian, his data course, Brad Johnson, Super Bowl winning quarterback and UNC. They had the better field goal kicker. Minnesota did not ends up costing the Golden Gophers a one of those seasons. So those are the three games that I watched the most yesterday and following along, you were texting me updates about Westlake prosper. I was following along the taco shack bowl as well. The Anderson, uh, knock it off, McCallum. Yeah, I watched all of that stuff you mentioned, but I also watched a good portion of Westlake prosper when it was, uh, still in doubt, uh, as Westlake had some special teams, uh, difficulties in the first half, missed the field goal, had an extra point blocked. Uh, they were down 14, 13 of that, but took command in the second half, really did their defense, played much better in their offense, got it in gear after that. And then they wanted, I was watching taco shack bowl as well. Uh, Anderson sprinted out for that huge lead. Uh, I ended up coming back to watch a lot of that game down the stretch because the game took forever. Yeah, it was three and a half hours long. And that's, that's long for high school football game, folks. Uh, but, but watching, uh, Roger Wallace and keep more and navigate that. Um, and, uh, yes, uh, that I was flipping back and forth and saw, you know, all the big plays that happened in the North Carolina, Minnesota game as well. I did also watch some of Colorado and North Dakota state. I watched a little bit of North Carolina state and Western Carolina. Oh, yeah. Same. It's, yeah. Cause that was a game for a while. Yeah. The cat amounts hung out. My brother was getting all excited. My second oldest brother went to Western. And so he was pretty pumped up about that. And they were in the game for a while. I called a glimpse of Illinois Eastern Illinois. And that thing got out of hand pretty quickly. I called a glimpse of Missouri and Murray state, but that was out of hand very quickly. And then I watched baseball too. I did watch the Dodgers Orioles. Uh, and, uh, and we'll talk to baseball next hour with Gene Watson. The Dodgers had 14 hits in the game. None, none from Showeo Tani in the game. That was interesting enough, but everybody didn't quickly edit, but he got all of his last night at the home where he got the two stolen bases. So on and so far he had his dog throughout the first pitch. So I watched some of that. Uh, watch some of the Mets, uh, Mets Diamondbacks late in the afternoon. Uh, that's a big series this weekend, Los Angeles, uh, at Arizona. And what a huge game. And I watched a little bit of the Astros and the, uh, Royals and the Astros took the opener and this is a huge series this weekend for both the Astros and the Royals in the baseball sitting again, a little over an hour. For now we'll visit with Gene Watson, uh, to talk some major league baseball as well. Did you, uh, watch any of, uh, Jackson state first, Louisiana Monroe? No, I didn't. And I should have, uh, you know, that's the ESPN plus telecast, but I have that and I should have watched it. That's in the future opponent category. Did you see the of that? Well, um, I guess I forgot because there's been, you know, a million transfers of course now with the transfer portal, the starting quarterback for the Warhawks general booty in general booty will be bringing his booty to Austin, Texas in a few weeks, excited for that matchup. You know, it's funny you mentioned that when we were, uh, I think right after we got back from SEC media days, uh, I was asked to be on a podcast and I said I would, uh, for a gentleman in Memphis. And, uh, and I, and I have some good friends in, um, Memphis, uh, Brett Nores were the, uh, and, uh, my real good friend, Dave Will Ocean, who is the voice of the Memphis Tigers. Uh, Dave and I worked together at KRLD back in the eighties and we've remained good friends over the years. Uh, but this was a different gentleman and asked if I would appear on this podcast and I said that I would. And so I was on it and there was a writer also on it. It was like, it was a zoom podcast and there were four of us, uh, the host, uh, myself, uh, there was a writer and the athletic director of UL Monroe because I think there's a, you know, long standing relationship between the host and that gentleman as well. And he was, when he and I were talking and said, he told me how much he was looking forward to coming to Austin, uh, for the game and the, enjoyed coming the last time, you know, in Texas, one handily said he always enjoyed the trip to Austin was looking forward to coming back. And then he added and get ready for some booty and I said, excuse me. General booty will be the, that's right. General booty will be the quarterback for that. So that will be on September 21st. It'll be three weeks from tomorrow. There's a little more, uh, football that, uh, takes place prior to that. However, uh, you know, uh, the week before that, it'll be UTSA. Uh, the week before that, obviously the trip to Michigan, the week before that is tomorrow with the season opener against the Colorado state ramps. So that'll be, that'll be, uh, going on. Sorry. So you guys can, we'll be setting up down there on beable, large weather permitting, uh, they're in the Winship circle. Um, and then when the, when your, uh, Longhorns game day programming ends, that's one hour prior to kickoff. I take it because you're a credential member of the media. You'll come up to the press box. Right. Am I right about that? I think so. Um, still figuring out what my duties will be during the game. I know post game. I'll be down, uh, with my fellow media members, getting some post game audio, right? Sark and the players, but this is year, year four of having a season ticket to my dad. Now I don't get to sit in my seats at all, but I think because, uh, we did not sell our tickets. I might for the first quarter go down, you know, sit with him, little father, son tradition, little bonding session real quick. And then I'll find myself back up in the press box. Did you say your dad was busting one of the high school teams last night? Uh, he, I thought he was busting Westlake, uh, his, his, his company was, um, and they're also busting. Kim Kate. I don't know where he's at today. I do know he's going to, uh, Fayetteville, North Carolina, uh, for work trip, uh, this next week, but, uh, yeah, usually either Westlake or Oleg Travis, there, there's always some my school football stuff around. There you go. All right. Uh, coming up next, we're going to hear from some long horn football players. We'll hear, uh, from Jayden Blue, long ones running back and also linebacker Anthony Hill. We'll do that when we continue on sports radio.
