He joins us on the hotline now. And that's Roger Wallace, Sports Director KXA, my broadcast partner on Longhorn football. What album is- No, don't do that to me. He's got like 35. It's all about Livingston Saturday night, but that's a little different song. Uh-huh, uh-huh. Yeah, yeah. OK, all right. I just, you know, I'll try to remember you're the Buffett authority around it, at least in our circle. So that's why, you know, if anybody would know what album that, that cover of another Saturday night was on, it would be you. So that's what you asked. When I was a kid, I collected, I did all cassettes. And I would, I would borrow albums, and then I would record them on a cassette. So I didn't have all the album covers and, you know, people that turns into their art and stuff. I was a cassette guy, how about that? So, so while the rest of us were collecting baseball cards and comic books, you're pirating music on the cassettes. Is that the deal? Pretty much. Yeah. OK, that's good. That's good. Hey, I wanted to we've done this in the past where I have you come on later in the week to talk about a variety of things. Usually, usually with the lead being the KBBO big game of the week. And we can certainly start there with the Taco Shack bowl tonight, but there's a bonus game tonight since, since Taco Shack will be over on the CW. And but there's there's long word football to discuss as well. First, let me lead off of the high school and let me get you to give the official word, because did I get it right that the Taco Shack bowl is on the CW? That's right. That's right. Yeah, it's our first ever Thursday night with regional coverage. So we've got Taco Shack at 730 on CW, and we've got Westlake Prosper at 7 o'clock on KBBO or normal Thursday night high school channel. And then so you get two options tonight and then we go back to, you know, one game on on Thursday on KBBO starting starting next week. So yeah, pretty cool. And then we got to sell out down to House Park too. So that should, that should be fun. Is this correct me for wrong? Is this number 12 for you guys for the season and for the Taco Shack bowl? 15, 15, 15, our 15th season, our 14th Taco Shack bowl. Because 2020, remember they had the staggered start where they started the smaller schools, the COVID year before they started the bigger schools. So Taco Shack wasn't really Taco Shack because of the way the schedule fell. So it's our 14th year of starting with Taco Shack, our 15th year of Thursday night high school football. Okay. All right. So you kind of led it in my next question. I was kind of musing aloud about this last week. Right now, Anderson drops from from 6A down to a 5A division one. McCallum has fallen to a 5A D two. What happens in two years if they're both 5A D ones or both 5A D two? I mean, the Taco Shack bowl, it goes on, doesn't it? It just gets moved to a district game later in the year, right? That's right. Yeah. And I think it's, I think they've been district rivals before, maybe correct me if I were on it, they haven't. Yes. Yeah. So, yeah, it would just not be that Thursday night opener. I got you. Yeah. At least I assume it wouldn't. I doubt they would make such an exception to open it with district play and then go to non-district. Yeah, I'd have a difficult time thinking that either it can be- Because they can do Taco Shack any time. Right. You know, October or whatever, it can be the Taco Shack bowl. Yeah. Any purposes, it would kind of be too bad because we're so used to that, getting our schedule started. Listen, somebody better go to the, you know, the big O, better go to Orlando, Artyaga, and ask him about this. I mean, he may have something to say about that. He is, after all, King Taco Shack, right? So you're saying we need to go in depth on this? I'm saying that's your option. All right. And since we're going in depth on high school, Westlake, with a good opener tonight against a prosper team for folks who don't know, prospers, alladales, four with Metroplex, it's north of Dallas. We're all at explosive growth where Frisco is and several of those other- I remember doing basketball games to tell you how old I am. When prosper was a one a school, one, a 11 man school playing basketball in the early 80s, they are now one of three six a high schools there in prosper. But this, this is a good season opening test for, for Tony Salazar's ball club. Yeah, it should be, should be fun up in, uh, beltner and played at Mary Hart and Baylor crusader stadium. And so, uh, I don't know the total back story on why it's, uh, on Thursday, maybe to get the stadium because neither team wanted to, neither school wanted to drive all the way, either to the Metroplex or to Austin. Uh, so they wanted to meet in the middle. Um, but, uh, yeah, Westlake's got three Thursday night games this year starting with, with this one. So that should be a pretty entertaining as well. And they're a little staggered. That's at seven, McCallum Anderson's at seven 30. So, you know, good chance to kind of go back and forth. What are some of the other big stories you think about going into this high school football season this year in the greater Austin central Texas area? Well, the one tomorrow night has turned into, you know, maybe the premier opening night game, uh, of the season that's ripping springs in Vanagriff and, uh, you know, what does Vanagriff do with all the, all the D one talent they lost are still picked to win, win that district and dripping springs. Uh, what they did last year going four rounds deep, uh, into the playoffs, uh, Weiss are a lot of people like Weiss and, and they're back playing primarily, uh, central Texas was in McNeil. That should be a fun one. How about McNeil pick second, uh, by Dave Campbell? Um, the job they've done there, uh, from what two wins to seven wins last year, uh, in a couple of playoff games. Uh, so I look at that. Um, you know, Liberty Hills always in the mix, uh, and, and Doug Warren over at Wimberley's got a top five preseason team. So it should be fun. Uh, as usual, I think the usual suspects and, uh, you know, because of the rise of a Vanagriff and a dripping springs and, you know, Lake Travis, a little more under the radar than we're used to seeing. Yep. It's, it's a good point. And I'm going to give you one more theme at least that I'm keeping track of or that I'm keeping a close watch on. And that is, uh, is district eight, five a in division one and the key there is division one because you got Cedar Park and Lake Belton and Georgetown and Rouse and he's few in there, uh, with Glenn moving up to the D one level. You got Leander in there and then you've got, uh, and you got clean Chaperelle that here's the weird thing about it for me. There's all those schools in there and Cedar Park is the favorite in that district. Um, you want to make sure you win that district because of the way this thing aligns, they are in region two line lines up, uh, with seven five a D one. Can you imagine a bi-district game between Cedar Park and Highland Park? Because it can happen or Lufkin even. That's how weird that is with that district. Seven five a D one, uh, has not Lufkin is Tyler in there. So you got Highland Park, Red Oak, Midlothian, Tyler, Burleson, Centennial, Cleburne and Joshua. I mean, how weird is that deal? If you wind up playing a Metroplex, of course, just ask Rouse. I mean, um, uh, uh, uh, who am I thinking about? Uh, why, why haven't I played the soda the last two years? Yeah. Yeah. I think they played the soda tougher than anybody a couple of years ago. That's right. That's right. So that's, that's weird. They had to open against them. Yeah. So you want to stay out of that lower spot if you can out of that deal. All right. Uh, let's, uh, let me get your thoughts again. We move it on to talking a, uh, long horn football. Uh, we had, our first taping of long horn weekly with coach Sarc last night over at Pluckers and we'll, uh, the, the radio versions coming up at five o'clock this afternoon here on the zone because of the round rock express game tonight. So, uh, we have that, but you guys have the television presentation of that is as far as you know, everything's good to go with that. Yeah. I checked on that. So nine o'clock tomorrow night on, uh, on KBBO will run your show, uh, with coach Sarc. So excited about that. And I know your guest was a guy that's, uh, helping us out this year and, uh, long horn legend Alex Oka for, um, and he'll be on our pregame show, Texas game day on Saturday one 30 on KBBO with, with Dan Neal. So, uh, we thought, you know, we're going to go in the trenches, Craig. I mean, Texas moving to the SEC. It's a line of scrimmage conference. We're going line of scrimmage with our analysts. We're going offensive line and defensive line and they'll join, uh, Jonathan Thomas on Saturday afternoon. So a lot of programming, a lot of, uh, uh, partnering with you guys and what you do with weekly and then, and then our stuff on, uh, on game day and then on, uh, Monday as well. I know you guys, obviously you air Sarc and we'll televised Sarc on Monday, uh, 11 30. Yeah, uh, I would imagine all of this stuff that's added stuff has, has your building just really percolating these days because there's a lot of extra work for, uh, for your man, Cory Wiesland and a lot of extra work for, for, for you and for Jonathan and for Noah and, uh, and the entire staff really, uh, but it's kind of an exciting time in it. No doubt. I mean, you know, L H N, uh, has owned it. So, you know, we get what we can during the availabilities and there's plenty of chances, but now they actually have some unique, uh, programming affiliated with UT is pretty exciting and, and what a time as they go into the SEC and, uh, you know, the, the ranking, the expectations and all that. So, you know, we're really excited about having some, uh, unique programming, uh, with UT and with code SARC. Uh, so that, that should be a lot of fun. And oh, by the way, they got to play some games starting Saturday afternoon. And I'll ask you the question that SARC has always asked. He was asked at the, uh, at the press conference on Monday. I think a fan submitted the question last night, uh, during long porn weekly. And the question was, what do you want to see most out of the season opener or are anticipating seeing the most out of an opener? So I put the question to you as we settle into the booth on Saturday afternoon. Well, I'll, I'll go, you know, more kind of from a fan's perspective who tend to follow the ball and I'm, I'm no different, but I want to see the run game. I want to see, you know, Jaden Blue, Trey Wisener, you know, Jerry Gibson and, and you know, Will Quinn have to throw it more than maybe SARC had thought. I don't think he will. I think with that offensive line, I think Jaden Blue was going to bring a breakout guy anyway, uh, for Texas. So that's what I want to see. Obviously when you have three scholarship backs, uh, before they just added the portal, addition from SMU, you know, health is a concern, but I want to see the run game and then not put too much on, on Quinn and that passing attack. We know next week's going to be hard to run the ball of Michigan. That's, that's regardless of, of everything else, but I want to see what happens in the run game. Uh, and then defensively, you know, Anthony Hill, uh, SARC said today is that people make a little too much of the whole headset communication, but what I'm sure he's not making too much of is the fact that he slides into that Jalen Ford role, which was so such a lockdown position and such a great leader and got everybody where they need to be. Now he's got a lot of help. Johnny Barron, Michael Taft, a lot of veterans. Uh, but defensively, I'll be interested to see that next step with a guy like Anthony Hill. All right. Uh, I know you got to get to the stadium. Uh, that said, you could almost, almost, couldn't you throw a rock from the KX in walking there easier than park if it gets too crowded with the parking. Okay. Hey, have a good call tonight. We keep moral and look forward to it. And, uh, I'll see you at the stadium on Saturday. Great. Thanks, Greg. Take care. That's Roger Wallace. And again, uh, yeah, they've got the double header. They've did, as he says, regional coverage, uh, tonight, Taco Shack bowl is on the CW, KNDH Channel 54 and the Westlake prosper game is on KB vote channel 51. They've got both of those tonight with their live high school football, telecast coverage, and, uh, then, uh, they'll have the televised version of long, one weekly with coach Sarg the radio show that we did last night. It's coming up at the top of the hour, 30 minutes from now, five o'clock. You'll hear it today. Normally you'll hear it on Thursdays at seven, but with the round rock express game, the night at seven will bring it to you at five. So that's coming up at five o'clock. And then, uh, they have their, uh, their, uh, Texas game day, uh, program coming up their pregame show, uh, Saturday, one hour, priority kick. Uh, that'll be at, uh, one 30 Saturday afternoon. All right. Up next, we'll hear more from, uh, Steve Sarkeesian and for Brandy Terry, when we continue on sports radio, I am 13 under the zone in the IHAR radio app. I'm Victoria Cash, and I want to invite you to a place called Lucky Land, where you can play over a hundred social casino style games for free for your chance to redeem some serious prizes.
