Listen back to Paul Cooney, Barry Ferguson and Peter Grant as they discuss all things Scottish Football.

This is the Good Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Call 08, 08 at 17, 17, 700. Good evening. This is Paul Cooney, Barry Ferguson and Peter Grant. We're just over 24 hours away from the nations tomorrow night, Scotland against Poland and controversy today. We told you yesterday she had him's now, Torino has pulled out of the squad. And we're going to hear from the manager, Stevie Clark. There are some reports that he wanted to settle in in Italy. It wasn't an injury, but the manager insists he is injured and he's got the email to prove it. Also, what do you make of the call-ups we talked about last night? And still, we're talking about the weekend. Barry spoke about it extensively in Monday night after Celtic winning 3-0 against Rangers. Peter Grant, you were there as well. You've viewed the fans are Rangers fans understandably not happy. Celtic fans seventh heaven for them. What line is Paul? You know what you've got to do? What line is it? You have to win. You have to win the game the whole way. Get the stands. I've got to be able to put them on with it. You have to win the game. I don't think we're hearing you properly there, Peter. So it was fine a moment or two ago. So we're going to change the microphone. Barry, we talked a lot about it in Monday night. What has changed the score line? It hasn't changed. You've just setting me up there, hadn't you? Of course, that would be good to change. Not a lesson, obviously. It was a sore one from Rangers' point of view, Paul. No doubt about it. It's going to be a long two weeks until the next game against Dandenika up at Canada. So I'm sure there'll be a lot of work, hard work going on in the training round. And the managers will be Chinese best to hopefully get these players getting that and important result against Dandenika because they'll bet off one because Dandenika started the season really well, had a real good result at the weekend against Hertz at Dandenika. So the next two weeks is crucial for Rangers to get prepared and to make sure the game's three points. Have you been surprised at the depth of feeling and the outpouring from Rangers fans who are really worried now about this season? Yeah, it's just frustration. I mean, there's a number of words I can describe to use. The feelings are sore. Yeah, and it's one of the ones where I think it's going to be a long two weeks, no just for the Rangers team, but for the Rangers supporters as well. And so it's now in the past, Paul. That's the way you've got to look at it, and they've got to look to the future and the next game, and the next game it donated as our most win game. Peter, good evening. Good evening, Paul. Can you hear me now? What do you think happened? Conspiracy theories are everywhere. So I'm going to throw this at you. You were to all the baddest switch of my makeover. That's what I was coming to. So... Oh, I thought you were speechless, because you could ask me questions again. I'm going to get on. No, we did that Monday. It worked two minutes before. Peter, welcome to the programme. Thank you very much, Paul. So what's your feeling after the weekend? Obviously delighted, you know, because Rangers, everybody spoke about, started the first 10, 15 minutes quite well, putting Celtic under a lot of better pressure, which they hadn't really done prior, and they were the other matches. But then once Celtic got through, everybody talks about the offside goal, and once they get through that, you can see Rangers were spooked. There was no doubt of that, because right away, I noticed that at the game, they come back to the halfway line, then that allowed Celtic at the couple of passes, and then I felt Rangers were keeping the ball at the back with no thought of what they were going to do next. So it was going through Sutter, you know, across to Popper, proper, and then back to the goalkeeper. And they've done that quite a bit, and I'm thinking, this is where you're not wanting, because I'll tell you what, I felt then they were scared to give the ball away. If they gave the ball away, Celtic were on them like a flash, and that was the biggest thing I noticed about Celtic. Forget people talk about the way they play it. I think they've played better in all other games, but you don't know about any other four other games. Yeah, I think Celtic have played better in other games. You know, they didn't really need to come out each second year. I didn't feel that it's not been disrespectful, but I thought they were absolutely excellent against the ball. The amount of boys that won the ball back, how quickly they won it back when they give it away, and in the first period, they gave it away quite a bit under no pressure. But I thought that at work ethic, Bernardo, for me, in the first half, was the most important player. You know, I think it went unnoticed how good he was, and how influential he was. He winning the ball back after Rangers nicked it, and we're trying to set it up something. And I thought he was excellent in that period. So I was just strange after it likes you listening to Graham Sunnis and whatever talking about it, because he's been involved in it as Barry, he has many times. And as I say, when you're looking at the game, talking about statistics, the one thing Graham and I know it doesn't matter to statistics, I would rather have one shot at goal and one, one nil. And there's Celtic Rangers match than anything else. And Barry will tell you the exact same thing. It doesn't even come down to that, because it doesn't wash. We support us. They don't accept you. I would play well. Or anything like you have to win, and I've been through it for many, many years. And I know how torturous it is. You know, and I know how bad it feels. So that people who used to tell us how well we're done, and the Gorham had addressed him had so many great saves. Unbelievable, but they still beat us. The bottom line was the beaters. I mean, I've never made any excuses. Rangers beat us. That was it. Because if I had made any excuses, our fans wouldn't have been having it. Nobody else wouldn't have. Too much made of the stats, Barry. Probably. We talked about it in Monday. I think they only started maths to me as, as you score more goals in your opposition. I've always said that I would rather play poorly and not have much of the ball and have hardly any attempts on the goal. But score one more goal in the opposition I'm playing against. Peter, were you looking at your old club? Salty, who was your man of the match? You mentioned Bernardo in the first half. Yeah, I thought Bernardo was outstanding. But I think the team knew that they needed to do it. I thought, listen, I thought young skills. It doesn't get, it gets a lot of criticism. I thought Greg Taylor in the first half as well. You know, it was really well done really well. I'm not surprised he pulled out because I seen him the last 10 minutes. He gave the ball a bit a couple of times. I didn't know if it was cramp or whatever. But I thought he'd done well. I'll look at it and you think Celtic just gets strong. Me either and that does what he does. You know, Kyogo is outstanding movement again. Without really getting this service, it could have. You know, a couple of times he's made that movement again and he gave Carter Vickers not a bit of criticism because Rangers have came that little bit high. He made the movement. He was free and he didn't pass it forward. But Celtic was thoroughly deserved to win the game, Paul. I don't think anybody could argue with that. But the bottom line is, in the Celtic Rangers match, he's probably 100% right. It's about winning them. I used to say before, I don't care how they're playing this game. It's the one game that supporters don't care how you play as long as you win. And that's for me as a difference. And there's no way you can hide it, cover it up and think, "Oh, well, it looks good because we played OK." No, it doesn't. You have to win it. Peter Grant, Barry Faggson are here with me. In fact, they're only about four yards apart now because that might send their lead to him. Sorry about that, guys. Did you see each other at the game, Barry? You were there in the posse seats on Sunday? No, another. Are you in the studio? I've seen them when they were doing the huddle. Four minutes in, they had to get out of the knee. I didn't know what they're talking about. It was just because you were mentioning it a couple of minutes ago. Indeed, sure. You took it in good spirit. I see that Chris has. I'm going to talk about Taylor and Johnson. I never get made to defend at all in the game. I mean, I'm thinking with Tondo and Chardonnay. What are they blessed with? They're blessed with pace. Go and make them defend. Go and run in behind. I've never seen that happen. Once so, I thought Johnson and Taylor had an easy afternoon because they didn't need to defend. And Rangers wide players didn't make them defend. And I think that's a difference. I've noticed, and I don't know if Barry knows it. It's hard to be nice to ask him because I know he doesn't go to the Celtic games every week. But the Celtic wingers are actually going the outside now as well, even though it's a poorer foot. So they question the full back. OK, you're going to show me the line because it's my poorer foot, but they won't get down there. Even if the cross is not great, it still takes them further up the pitch. I thought the Rangers changed especially because I thought, "Oh, this is going to be an interesting battle." Because I've been impressed with what I've seen in him. But he kept coming in and he's left foot. So he would go by at pace and then check back again. And you're thinking to yourself, "Go and give him something." Another problem going outside and trying to see if you can beat him there then. Or get a corner or something like that. You know he just didn't do that. In terms of made and couldn't end there, they're questioning the defenders like, "Well, they go inside. Well, they go outside." I mean, they're doing things differently as I've just felt every time Rangers wide players got the ball. It was touched back. Didn't face them up and try and take them on or run in behind. Give them something to think about. But certainly made and couldn't. And when James Forrest come on, they made the both Rangers fullbacks. Think about defending, they'll be unsure whether we're going to go in behind, going to come short, going to go inside, or going to go outside. Bill's on asking, "Barry, what do Rangers do now?" They've got some time. Not a lot of time, but with the International Week. Maybe that's good news just now for the manager. There'll be what going on. They won't have all of these players just now. But what's he going to do ahead of the rest of the campaign? Because they're going to walk with the window closed now. Yeah, there's obviously two new signings that come in that weren't evolved. So I would hazard the guess that there'll be many days off until they've done the United game. Oh, on the training field. And whatness had this possible to try and get the three points. Because it's going to be a tough one. We're going to have to hand the dice at 12 o'clock. I'll wait until Sunday. It's not going to be easy. Because the United have started. Well, James got them playing good stuff. So I've been testing it to see come. I'll wait until Sunday. What the start line up is because they need to come back down through Dundee with three points. But there's no doubt in my mind about that. Peter, you're always self-deprecating. You say, in your time, you had some tough times as well. And after the defeat to your old rivals, going away to tenidites or whatever, it was always tough. Well, absolutely. Paul, listen, there'll be back different nowadays. Because the team, I felt all the Aberdeens done yet. It's not much stronger. Yeah, of course. You know, so you knew every game you were playing away from one was always a problem. But the biggest thing you'd come out is Saturday. And it was slightly different for us, Paul. Because it wasn't the two-game window, which is, it must be a nightmare for the Rangers supporters and players. Because you just wanted to get the Rangers game next. You want to be playing a game as quick as you possibly could. And get a lot of frustration and anger that we've seen. No, I'm not talking about supporters here, because I understand what supporters feel for their club and whatever. But if players will be desperate to go in the pitch again, they'll be desperate to get a game under the belt. They'll be desperate to get a victory for Rangers. That's what they'll be trying their desperate, their most damnedest to do. Because the one thing is, and I keep saying it, and Barry will say as well, it's no like effort. Seltic are better at this moment in time. I said it last week. If it comes down to that, Seltic have got a better squad. They've got better players starting 11. They've got better substitutes that come on and make them stronger. So all these things makes it difficult for Rangers. All Rangers can do is concentrate on their self, which we had to do, Paul, and it was tough. And especially if you lost a game against Ray. It doesn't matter who you're playing next. You knew you had to win that. But that next time with that next Rangers game coming on, that was the thing that everybody was looking for. You better do it this time. You're this. And that never leaves. And that is the difference between Seltic and Rangers up here compared to anywhere else when people talk about it. This is the game. This is where it goes. This doesn't go to bed. Don't walk over in a couple of days. Please believe me, you don't. I've been there long enough and I understand what it feels like. So you don't go over it. And it's very tough. And as I said, all the thing, there'll be desperate to get back on the pitch again. Yeah, you're a lighter thing. So me as a player just now, I've had suffered that defeat. I'd be hot. I'd be desperate for a game. I would be absolutely desperate. And see that two weeks, it's fuel at two a month. You just need a game as quickly as possible. Because listen, you're getting criticized. And some of it, I think, right? Some of it is a bit over the top at times. But listen, what you need to do is you need to come back. We are buying and they need to go to your town. One of times, Paul, at 12 o'clock, as I said, and make sure no matter how you get it, whether that's just scrapping and fighting or whether it's good football, you need to get the three points. Here's Brendan Rodgers paying respect to Rangers, because there's been a lot of chat about, what's the gap between the two? And that's not what he's talking about. But he spoke about Rangers just after the game. Well, no, listen, you have to always respect. I thought Rangers started well in the game. And you always have to respect. And I do respect Philippe massively. He's, you know, having to work through a difficult challenge has not been at the stadium and other issues. But I think for us, we go into every game, like it's a zip with that humility, the one that we have to work. But the players work so hard and we get to this point after a long pre-season and we've started the season so well and with a real good intensity. Yeah, I was just going to ask now. But I get back into the stadium, 21st of the month. It's good news. Yeah, well, it was needed Paul. You wanted to go in with the four stands, won't you? But do you know what? Just get back home as quickly as possible. And it's disappointing that the Copland Road is not going to be ready in time, but it's still going to be three stands for that Cup game against Dundee. And I said to you a couple of weeks, Paul, they had to do it and they're going back, as I said, in an ideal situation. You want a full house, it's not going to be like that, but you're back home because playing away from home, I've had grand, I've had bandi walker, I speak about it when they say we've done the same at hand and it's not the same Paul, it's not the same at me, so the most important thing is just getting back home. Phillip Clemong afterwards, he was saying about the stats and Efring just had taken the chances. I think if today you score the first goal, it's a totally different game. Now we can play out of that. Now, Celtic scored the first goal. They can play out of that. And they scored the second just before half time. And then they are, for sure, more comfortable in that way. So it's about taking those moments and shifting the moment. And he said there's still a lot. Well, he knows that. Huge amount of work to be done, to improve things. Yeah, that's difficult to say, of course, and that's something to discuss with it. I think we had a good reaction in the second half then, but we lost 25 minutes in the first half for me in that way. That we were not showing our quality like we were doing in the first 10 minutes. We know we are in the start of something. So 16 players left the club. We have a lot of new guys. We have a lot of young guys look also the age difference between the starting 11 of Celtic today and ours. So we know we have a lot of things to work on, but we see also the potential that's there. You saw it in the 10 minutes. In the beginning, you saw it also more in the second half. And we need to continue working on that the next weeks and the next months to be better in January to take the winner. Peter Grant? Um, I don't know what do you think now? Do we have a performance report? Because a lesson to each talk about age is Celtic. It's buying better players. It doesn't matter what age they are. They've grown, so we didn't know them. The matter rarely was 23, so let's be honest. These guys have came to Celtic and had to grow into it. Playing for Celtic, I look at Rangers and I genuinely felt looking at the game, the way the game was going, even though Rangers started well. I think if Rangers were to went to North and up, you know, it was the only time I've ever been at a Celtic Rangers match. I felt Celtic would still win the game. Even if Rangers would have went to it. Because I just think when you're looking at the group of players and what they've got to change, Celtic would have still been able to do that. I think Rangers went to it about 15 to go to win the game. You know, that's what I felt when I'm looking at. You see, just for your own eyes, that's me. And that was my thought process. That a friend's able to score in that first period. I just thought Celtic had the players that could have stepped up. Got the game with the score for the neck. I know it's not always easy as that, but I just felt they had that. Whether it was on the pitch at that moment in time or the guys that was going to come off the bench. And that it's not been disrespectful to Rangers. It's just the fact I think that's where they are at this moment in time. Barry? So I've touched on maybe in terms of scoring in the first 10 minutes. But the thing is, no, clinical enough. I don't know if they were going to be offside or cold offside. But anyway, if you get the opportunity to settle in an old fun game, you have to take them. Sell to an up-the-pitch first time in the score. Obviously, that's allowed to go up the second time in the score. The goal, we go one-nothing up. And when that happened, I just felt at the stage with a disallowed goal. I just felt the heads went down, they felt sorry. It's nothing each. It's nothing each. So I just felt it were clinical and Rangers went, "Why wouldn't they then think, 'Right, OK, that one that hasn't happened, it's offside.' Well, I'm not inside the dressing room, but you need to ask your question. Even if you go one, no, down, I've been involved in games like that. I've still been 75 minutes to go. It's the leaders they need on the park. You can't allow yourself to get down if you get a goal against you. Yeah, me being the last sentence in a game, where it's virtually finished, but that's a long way to go. I just felt they suffered. They suffered badly as soon as that. That's a local, wouldn't it? I'm not talking about the first goal of it, then. I felt that as well. I'm sitting and watching the game, and I just felt what Rangers had tried to do, pushing up as we spoke about before. You can't give yourself to that much time in the ball. To be fair to me, I just tried to get the players to do that. But it was amazing. The distance they dropped, because it was even a period again, this was a shooting. Well, why are we chasing up? And to be fair, the day I'm wounded on it a couple of times as well, because he was going to press and whatever. And nobody was in behind him, and then they were getting out. They were finding that spare player. And it's so destroying when you're doing that, and you end up chasing it. You know, as I say, I've passed the ball much better in other games. This season's so far, and you've got to give credit to Rangers for that. Maybe put them under pressure on the first half. But there was a lot of slight passes as well, just passing them. I think it was Captain Vickers, one of their team players. It was straightaway, aiming for Alistair Johnson under no pressure. So we things like that. And sometimes you jump on that bar, he'll tell you, and see if you see that, you think, right, put them under pressure. And Rangers had tried to do it, but Barry's 100% right. As soon as that goal went in, the off-side goal, all of a sudden, it was 30 yards deeper, and I just think then. And then even when they got it and Celtic dropped off, as I said earlier, I think they were just waiting, thinking, Rangers have not got the quality to pay passes, we have pass. And if they go for that pass, they're coming up the pitch behind it, now the spaces are there for us to hurt them. And that's exactly if you remember, the goal is pop, pop, pop, through, down, across goal. But then people bursting in the box because they knew the pace to get there. I'm not sure Rangers have got that. Stephen's on asking you, Peter, do you think the goal that was chopped off? Should have been a goal? You were there. I mean, we saw the line was then drawn. Yeah, see, at first, Paul, I thought it was off. I must admit, but then when I seen everybody else, the lines it was drawn, I genuinely thought John Sutter's foot was deeper. You know, and I don't know all of a sudden what you, if you say the shoulder, because remember, it got to a stage where they were saying about irons and whatever, they don't count, because if you score a goal without party, your body doesn't count. I saw it in a great area for me because I don't understand that rule whatsoever. So I'm not going to argue over it because you win the game, like a guarantee, you'd be arguing over it if it was a draw on a defeat. There was a game moved on. Yeah, exactly. But at the time when I seen it on the original movement, I thought off-side, but then when I seen the lines, I went, "Oh, oh, that looks like a goal to me." I don't know what the explanation was after it, because obviously I never had to tell the original what they were saying. Is that enough in the game now, Barry? Are we a bit more? Yeah, but honest, I was writing the line there. Yeah. And I said, "That does look off-side, but obviously when you see the, when I get back home later at night, it was very, very close, very tight. With that, I've made a difference. If I'm been brutal, honest, I don't think so." It's the reality check that you know you mentioned Graham Sunnis. He's not Rangers now, he's a Rangers great. I was surprised that Graham was saying, "I'm going to give you some stats." And he gave the stats that we saw in Skye. And you know, stats read one thing, four passes, four passes, five shots, whatever it was. But watching the game, and to make things better, you have to realize, right, here's a problem and it'll be addressed. I know it's difficult, the money situation. But if you don't recognize that there was a difference between the two, then it's not an issue. But if you're talking around and says, "Rangers pass the ball into the opposition, bulks more often, their keeper was what more often," then you'll say, "Okay, I understand how their keeper was outstanding," whatever. Listen, the great Manchester leader Tim Wunderson, Alex Ferguson, used to score in four passes. Because I looked at it often and off ball and starts to see how did they play. It was out for the back, in the middle of the pitch, get it, wide cross, goal. That was it. And they were the best team for them, how many years? That's what you've got to do. That's why I like it. But Celtic this year, I think the centre backs now they're going in for that pass into Kyogo, whose timing is much better at coming off the line. Instead of running behind, his timing is excellent and it's stretch and rangers, then drop them into that space and receiving the pass. So the passes are much more consistent now. I would rather be the exact same. Four or five passes must go for a brilliant, brilliant, that'd be fantastic. So to start arguing over a stat like that, it's incredible. And Graham's sits on television and criticizes teams for passing the ball too much and not getting shots in target. So I know why he's doing it. He's maybe trying to backfield it, Clemon, and he's trying to tell us out that the range of supporters saw it. He's staying behind the players. I understand that 100%. Because I'd probably do the same myself. But I would never throw a stat up because I'm not a stat person, Paul, because I'm just saying it's like a cross coming in the box and Kyogo missing it. They say, that's a misplace pass. Well, how can it be a misplace pass if it was a brilliant cross? And Kyogo's no onion time. But that player gave the ball away. So his stack is down, forgiving the ball away. Even though it's a brilliant ball, but it's never the forward was they ready for it. So statistics, rubbish. The bottom statistics, it was Celtic were better. Absolutely no doubt about that. As I say, we thought it could be the second year I felt. Oh wait, oh wait, 17, 17, 700. Barry Ferguson, Peter Grant. This is the good radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. It's the Radio Football Show, Paul Cooney and the company of Peter Grant joining Barry Ferguson here in the studio. In Glasgow, Glasgow's on here. It's been quite a few days since the game, but there's still calls coming in and messages as well. You can send a voice note if you'd like. Barry doesn't really do the voice notes, do you? I don't know either. Yeah. Peter? Pick up. Yeah, go on, pick up the forward. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Oh wait, oh wait, 17, 17, 700. Rangers fans, in fact, football lovers. Not happy to hear that the Rangers game again, St. Johnson, on the 5th of October, it's now 8 o'clock at night, Barry. So a Sunday night because of the marathon, half marathon. Yeah, the great Glasgow runner. Yeah, I've seen that. So no idea on a Sunday night, 8 o'clock. Paul, it's a strange one. But listen, it is where it is. You're at home, so you just need to-- It's really just played an associate lead by us. Is that what it is? Yeah, it's part of this home game, of course. Yeah, there's the-- There's one done. Yep. Malmo, again, traders, they're over there in the 26th of September. You're going to go to that one? Well, you go over? And-- No, not to that one. Yeah. I shouldn't ask you live on here. I'll be at the home games. Exactly. Some of them, some of the European trips over the years, I've been lucky enough to go and cover them. I'm covering both your teams. It's been phenomenal. Peter, do you travel these days for any of the European games you're looking forward? Oh, I like that. Haven't seen you since we got the draw. No, the last one I went to, Paul, was a few years back when Silti won, I'm so dumb and won. You know, I went to that and it was excellent. Great performance, but in Silti won, which obviously playing Ajax in there was a fantastic evening. So that was probably the last time, because I predominantly have been working most of the time, so it's been hard to get there. We had the news yesterday about withdrawals from the Scotland squad. Something we didn't hear much in previous seasons, but, well, you know who's gone. Bobby McCrory was injured, Greg Taylor injured, James Forrest was drawn as well. Into the squad then, we talked about it yesterday. We could Josh Doig, who's in, the goalkeeper, young McCracken from Dundee, and also Connor Barron. So Barry, good news for him. The last couple of months, okay, really tough at the weekend, but I think he's surprised everybody, huh? He has, he's certainly surprised myself, but listen, the young man's been excellent since his come in, showed real enthusiasm, real good energy about him. So, yep, I'm delighted that he's managed to get that call up. Sunday was a tough one for him, but look, he's a young man, that's his first taste, the annual firm game, and hopefully listen, you'll learn for that. But listen, delighted to see him get the recognition of the start of the season he certainly had for Rangers. Max been on, he's asking, "Peter, what about Luke McCown? Should he have got a call up?" Given that he played brilliantly for Dundee, he just moved to Celtic, but came on. I think that's an interesting thing for me, Paul, would look at the call if he was still at Dundee. I know he just went to Celtic, he's been a lot of good on, but I think he's any Celtic, and people say, it's only because he's went to Celtic, he's got the call up. But if you're looking at strikers, we don't have a striker's really hit the back of Nick constantly, so you need midfield players who can score a goal, and he can do that, and he can play that, give you that extra midfield player, as well as a goal scoring threat. And I think it would be disappointed not to be called up, and I had to say that if he was at Dundee, I think we've spoke about that before, even when we're going to the Euros. Guys like this may be getting an opportunity to get in there, because I think there were guys that went to the Euros, we spoke about prior to that, that went, they were never going to play any game time anyway. And I think the likes of the dogs, we spoke about Fergie obviously being injured, all these guys playing in Millers. They kind of went for that experience for me, because you can't buy that. People can tell you about it, but to your actual involvement, you can't, and let's go back to corner, but I thought it showed great guts. And all the games I've seen, because it's not been easy to play for Rangers just now, and I've been there myself as a Celtic player, and you've been under pressure as an individual, you know, so I know it's like you've got your show guts, you've got your fight. He's trying to do too much. No, do you know what he's trying to do? No, what he's showing? Hap. And I'll take that all day long, Paul. You'd love him players like that? You'd give it a better chance. Yeah, you can't never give too much, Paul. People say that, yeah, I know what it was like. The great Tommy Buns used to say things like, you know, he loved playing for Celtic, but he'd enjoy it. That was a different question. Did Tommy say that? Yeah, he said that was a different question, because you were so intense about it, because you were a supporter, because you were a player, whether it was good, bad, and if it was bad things, it was so tough. It was a good time you were enjoying them, but you don't enjoy them for a small period of time. But it's amazing that harder times seem to last the hell of a lot longer in your head, you know, than the good times do. You win a cut film. You enjoy it for two or three days, and that was it. Same with the leagues. You enjoyed it, because it was coming round again, and the hard times, they just seem to stay there and, yeah. And as a player, as an individual, when you've got to keep going, and the one thing I would say about that kid, since he's came to Rangers, yes, we can see he runs all over the place. Maybe he's a midfield player too far, too much, covering too much ground. He has shown guts. He's never had no way for the ball. He'll make mistakes. He'll just react to it, and that's what you need, if you're going to pull on that jersey, and same as as we sell to. Barry. Yeah, because it is difficult when you give the ball away, it might affect you, but you know what I like about me? He goes and he tries to get it back again, and you know what? Oh, I'm having that all day long. And as I said, when Rangers announced the signing, I was thinking to myself, I wasn't sure. Listen, I liked what I've seen at Aberdeen, but it's a big step up, but listen, he's come in, and yeah, he certainly been one of the first picks. I'm sure, because as I said, he shows a real good attitude. He looks to me if he's a type of boy, he's desperate to learn as well, and that's a great thing he has. But listen, since he's come in, I've certainly been impressed by him. And what but Peter's point there, that for the Euros, Stevie Clark should have brought in more kind of balance out, or Luke McConor. You didn't even mention it at that point. Whoever it would be. Let him know. Let him know, you did, of course. Because the way I said it, it sounded like he ended up going, because I think Paul experienced, especially up around you, the guys that were going, we're in the going, he's in the pitch. There wasn't a Ryan Jack, for instance. No, no, no, no, no. Respectfully, Ryan. Ryan had hardly played a game for Rangers, but if you're going to have tournament, barry knows much better than me, that you have to be ready for every game. Ryan had proven that he'd played one game and anyway, missed the next game. I mean, you're going to have tournaments, you don't get that time to recover. Paul, that was the point I was making then. So the younger ones were as well going along, because Stevie and his head, absolutely no doubt in my mind. Out of that squad he had, they're probably about 15, 16 players he's saying, that's the guys that are going to be using whether they're coming on his side. And that's what you did. Yeah, I think a lot. Would you agree with that? The wider point about bringing some new blood in. Yep, I was, I said when the squad got announced, Paul, you're learning Millers, you're calling on Barrens. And you know what? Look, McCowns, and another thing about look, McCown. I think it'll be the surprise package for Seltic. Do you? Yeah. Yeah, I know you've Seltic spent 11 mowing on angles, 9 1/2 and either. You get him for just under the mowing quid. I think he can be the surprise package. He's very elegant on the ball, can handle it. And I think it might show him. But if he continues to form it, he had it done. Dean eventually breaks into the Seltic team. Yeah, he's a shooting for the Scotland squad. But I would have liked to have seen the manager blow a few more younger. I don't care what age. For instance, Leonard Miller, 18 year old, he said over a year's experience in the first time. For me, I think the young man is more than ready. No judge to play Barrens as a Seltic, but they're actually playing it on national stage. And look, McCown could be the, the bargain, maybe, of the transfer window. That's what I would say, bargain. Yeah, well, you look at it now. You've got Lewis Morgan. Yep. You've got Ryan Gold, who've no been involved for X, Y and Z. And all those get pulled in at the squad, whatever. Look, McCown's been doing really well here. And we call it a team. It's not going to be challenging. How well he's played for Dundee. You know, that's where we've got, he's saying, I'm not putting a flag pole up now, because Barren, that mentioned up for the Euros. I never talked about players going, how well he was playing. But I'm just looking at it now and thinking, well, if you're needing a goalscorer poll, you're needing that type of midfield. 'Cause we're always going to be pulling me one striker at this moment in time. There is no getting away from that. But you need somebody else that's going to get there quickly to support and can prove that can finish from there. But it also gives you that wee bit of solidarity if you need them to drop back in a midfield, because they know that position as well. So that combination, I think you have to look at it, because we are not blessed with goalscores. And I think the more midfielders you have then, that can score a goal and, like, a goal, you have to take them with you. Yeah, every time I watch Dundee now, they've run the TV quite a bit last year. Look at my cow in Lyle Cameron, both of them. You all said that, those two. Yeah, both of them always stood out for me. And there was too much talk, apart from the hips, for a couple of weeks, obviously, a bad knock. But knock back, sorry, should I say. I was very surprised that there was no other team's sniffing about. Both of them. And Young Lane and Miller as well. Laurie is on the line. Oh, eight, 17, 17, 700, and that he's dead. Good evening, Laurie. How are you? I'm doing fine, Paul. Thank you. Good evening, buddy. Good evening, Peter, the first occasion. Speaking of the season. How are you? I'm good, Laurie. Nice to hear you again. Thank you. Now, Paul, here's my point. I heard Graham Sunnis, and everybody, of course, is on television. In the respect where the man has to say, you know, he's got a very distinguished career, both as a player and a manager. But I was wondering where he was coming from, when he opined the other day, Paul, that really isn't a great deal of deference. And ability between selling a ninja's or the girl, rather, isn't very pronounced. So I've dealt with a director of books there, and I've actually found these quite astonishing. The late great Jokstein and the late great Walter Smith, two managers, both of them, I, you know, led the respect of sides to nine and a row, a campaign. And what intrigued me was, I looked at their backups against the other side in Glasgow. So first of all, Jokstein was concerned. A 58 games against Rangers. It occurred at 29 wins. And of course, you don't need to be a mathematician to realize I said 50% in one ratio. And I exactly seem for Walter Smith, 56 games in charge, 20 wins, again, 50%. Now, during those two periods of nine and a rows, I Jokstein in the '60s and the '70s, and Walter Smith, much later than that, of course, spread across the '80s and the '90s. It should be remembered, although Celtic, one named consecutive tales, I, Rangers at that time, contested two different European finals, 67 against Bayern Munich. And 72, of course, the famous Barcelona Bears. Walter Smith, when he persuaded over a naked circuit of one in seasons at Rangers, Celtic at that time had an awful lot of good players, Peter Plaid and that team. And of course, I think about the players' elects at the Can You and Bine Huydunk, etc. Tommy Buns, of course, was a manager. The late great Tommy II, he's in the same league as Jok and Walter. Now, contrast that with Brendan Rodgers. A 19 games against Rangers, he recorded 15 wins. Now, that equates to a percentile ball of almost 79%, 70.947%. I think we can call it 79. Thank you. Hi, I really want to be good for that. Thanks for all that. I'll call 78. So, here's a thing. Surely, my point is very important, my point. And perhaps, you know, discretics, Graham's theory, about the number much between the two teams, I would put it to the panel. But that's President Rangers' side. Certainly, over the last few years, and Brendan has taken the Rangers, Celtic. There's a much impoverished Rangers' side and comparison to Celtic. And what the Rangers' side was, when Jok's team was managing the Celtic, and indeed, the Celtic side was when Walter's match. That's a staggering difference. 50% of two all-time great managers, Jok's team at Walter's match, New York has a high estimation in the gap. As you know, Paul has been speaking very highly about Brendan Rodgers. Yeah. But what a conclusion can you throw on the panel's thoughts. Yeah, Barry, you don't speak for Graham Sunnis, but that's where Laurie started there. Those stats are quite astonishing, aren't they? So, even Jok's team, even Walter's match. 50% when you're eight? It's fascinating. It's 79% or 78%, it's 79%, isn't that amazing? So, yeah, listen, being at the game as I was inside, that is a golf ball. I'm no one who's sitting here and see how they're wise. Last year, I thought the few of the games were really close, and I know where Graham's coming from, watching their games, but watching the game in Sunday, probably the last 75 minutes. I know they're just coming to the good 10 minutes, then they come in and rebat in the second half. But, yeah, you just look at both teams at this moment in time. Celtic do a look stronger. You look at the bench who comes off the bench. Then goes 11 million pounds, either 9 million pounds. James Forrest, really experienced players, probably Celtic's best player towards end of last season. I think I think he gave him that spark. Yeah, sorry, Rangers have definitely got a lot of work to do, in terms of both squads at this moment in time. But, Rangers are where they are, Paul. They've now got the finances to go and buy top quality. I don't know what the two new signings are like. I'm honest with you, I'm everybody else. I've watched them on YouTube. I've seen a bit of the Algerian boy played last year in Serie A. Don't know much about the 500 boys. So, look, time will tell. But, at this moment in time, look, the game. The game's Celtic. If I don't, does he have to? I'm not going to sit here and say it differently. Peter, Sir Marco turned around in the last couple of years in Glasgow, and you see those stats. I hadn't seen that. We all knew that Brendan Rodgers' record was only lost once to Rangers. But, does that put a perspective 79% win rate? It just tells you how Celtic have been far in front of Rangers with equality. Some of the games have been close, but Paul, in respect of that. So, the teams have been closer. I think that is a chasm at this moment in time. And I'm not being disrespectful. Probably the way even in the other period, we had good players. There was always a fight in the game. We lost a couple of them. I lost 5-1 to Rangers. I remember being seen all down at Celtic Park, coming back to 4-2 for Rangers. And it was real tough times. So, but there was always a fight in the game. Most of them. The great Andy Gorman spoke about some great games. But the bottom line is, people don't care. That's why we never have a threw-up a start. We could have said, "Somebody tell us about Andy Gorman how good he was." But the bottom line is, players are all interested. Players are all interested in winning. You have to win them. And that is the bottom line. The statistics with Graham came up with. I know why he's trying to do it, because he's probably... He's been asked a lot of questions, because he said Frank Lampard should have got the job. At a banana, Frank Lampard. Really? Why? Because if this is the Rangers team, and this is what he's going through, that Philip Clemente's going through now. If they told him, I'm not saying they told him a lie, but the way he was Philip Clemente, spoke about a few months ago, and said, "This wasn't the sort of picture he brought him to." Yeah. That tells you enough. He's an experienced manager, struggling. Yeah. You know, I think from the 3-3 game last year at home, it was a completely changed Philip Clemente. Yeah. For that, I don't know if you... That was him on a downward spiral, and he tried to get that back, even after the game the other day there, saying the best result against Ross County. Let's be careful, isn't it? In that period, it already beat Dortmund before goals away from home. So let's not be carried there much weaker now, and I understand the reasons why, and probably Rangers are saying the exact same when we were playing against him. I never felt we were as weak as the Rangers team is. I felt we always did a chance against Rangers to win a game. At this moment in time, I'm not really sure Rangers have got that chance. As I said, it was the first time I was sent again, I'm thinking, "If Rangers go too up in this particular match, I still felt Celtic had enough to come back when the game, because of the quality they have." And from Celtic's point of view, Laurie and Peter, can you move on from this now in Europe? Because the record in Europe hasn't been what the Celtic tradition would want from years and years ago. No, you're not going to go whether you pick up, we know that, but it has to be better. Laurie, that's a great stat you gave us. We're going to take a break, but we'll come back with Peter and Barry after this. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Let's go! Still talking about the weekend, Laurie made some good points of view if you're coming on, he's great with the stats. Bit of a stato there, is Earl Laurie with the stats of the record of Brendan Rodgers in the Darby's, and comparing with Jock Steins was 50, the great Jock Steins, the great Walt Disney. They were both in 50%, and there is Brendan Rodgers on 79%. Can Celtic kick on in Europe? And I'm going to come back to that in a moment or two. A couple of people have been asking today about Shey Adams, so he's withdrawn from the squad, and there have been reports that he wants to settle interest now in Torino, rather than being an injury problem. But the manager was asked today, "Is he injured?" I can probably get you the email. If you want, I've not got it on me just now, but there was an official email came from Torino saying that you had injuries that you picked up in the games, tie a knee, and they asked for them to be withdrawn from the squad. So no, Shey Adams. Injury? The club informed us on Saturday morning that you picked up a knock in the game. The conversation we share then as you come across to be assessed and sent back to Italy was no point. So that's how you miss out. By the same talking to two boys from Celtic who played it the weekend, come in on Sunday night, get assessed by our medics and send home boot, because it's easy because they're in Glasgow. So no big drama on that one. Barry, what are you thinking up front? You know, he played in all the games in Germany? Yeah, one thing about Shey Adams, he keeps you having everything. Paul, the only thing I would say, I don't think he's an out-and-out goalscorer, but listen, I think when he's played for Scotland, he's always done a fine job. I'm just looking at what's left. Obviously, you've got dykes who we know it can do for Scotland, Shanklin as well. I've had to give Conway. Why don't you go, son? When you show me what you can do against Poland, he's just getting more febristo in Madowsbra. And for what I've seen in terms of highlights, and that's an area that Pittsburgh, I've always kind of struggled in terms of having a right top striker. Right, going... There's a big stage for you, going show what you can do against a good Polish team. Peter, what would you do? What do you think about Shey Adams? Listen, I've been there, Paul, we had a problem in the series, and I've told you about that before, when you go with a national team, it's so difficult now. When you turn up, the medics are picking the teams now. Yeah, for the clubs, not necessarily Scotland, for the clubs now you can't play this, you can't train it then, you can't do this, you can't do it. And I don't care what Stevie says, that's fact. So you're saying about this player coming or not coming, we had the same incident with Stephen Fletcher, I don't know if you remember, we never picked Fletch, but they were getting into an international break, we never picked him, he was outstanding for us every time he brought the jersey on and came with us. We never picked him, he played in a Saturday, all hell breaks loose. Why is he knowing the squad? It's not her job to tell you why he's not, but we knew he was going to clean up his knee. So in that 10 days, that's what he was doing, but it's not Stevie Clark's role to do that club. Yeah, it's his club to come outside and it puts the manager, and it put Big Alec in such a difficult position to say, well, you never picked Stephen Fletcher, but he's playing Saturday, he's just no one you play for the national team, and you only sell equations as well. It's because the clubs don't want anybody else to know what's the matter with them. And that is the problem you have. That's why you're not allowed to train them, and I'm wondering, I told you before, we played in a Thursday poll, we turned up in the Sunday, and we never disclosed training to the Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday? Wednesday afternoon. That was your preparation starting for the game in a Thursday night. And that can't be right. Then Stevie will probably have been a predicament here, same old ideally, he would like all these boys, but listen, talk about him going out. I know he's just come back up the road. Bring Kevin Nizba in the squad. Oh, look at him, and I think he's been part of the squad before. He's a goalscorer. You know, it gives you something else again, a different energy, and there's no doubt, if he keeps doing what he's doing it all about then, he won't get back in the squad anyway. So, no, why not bring him alone? But keep the coronaries and give them the chances, because they are different from them. What about Lauren Shankland? Well, as we've seen, Lawrence has not scored a lot of goals this season. Hearts, well, I don't know if this scored any. Hearts have not been playing well. So you're looking at that, Linden Dykes have been out the picture to get his move. So they've not been playing either. So, Kevin Nizba is in the same boat as them. Young Conway can come in now, and you think, given an opportunity then? Would you go for Tommy Conway tonight? No, he can, but I said that to you. I said that, because he plays on the line, and he's different from it. He's not that target player. He wants to play on the last line as well. And the one game he did come on, he got the opportunity to keep it the same from him. You know, so you've got to give him a chance. Listen, we're in that stage. People need a lift. Who's going to be that new hero? That's what you need. Always need a new hero when you're going to end your group. This guy comes out of nowhere. Do you think he'll go back to... Do you think he'll stay back three, or go to a back four? I think the problem he's got in this one is, you maybe have to go to a back four because of the first hit. I think he'll go. I think he'll go to a back four. Yeah, because of the person he has. But personally, and I keep saying it about it in a bit, see the back three, now he plays. People, and I was surprised that Stevie used it. He said, "I maybe have to change." I don't know if it was John Carver or something. Maybe move away if you're back five. In Germany, it was a back five. We've played it properly in a good results. Spain, everything. It was a back three. It was a difference. Yeah, sure. And that's what I felt in the first game against Germany. It was a back five. We were a middle four. And a striker who was playing as an extra midfield player. That was a difference I felt in that. And I think when Scotland played with it, see because of the teammates and the robots, and you have to have them in your team. They're a benefit for you. Read it at best, and it's not defensive. But he's right when they use it. It's a back five. We look very, very ordinary. Let's hear a bit more from the manager. I think older games are important. Obviously, we've touched on the summer. We was disappointed. We have to move on. So this is our first game. For the players that have been playing at the start of the season, they go to their club. They have a little freshness about them. For me, it's been a long summer. And I look forward to the game and see what we get from the players. I'm sure a big reaction. He was asked about an overhaul in the squad and the changes. No, I don't think so. I think by the nature, the players that are out injured, we've got a lot of significant injuries. So the retirement, obviously, Caroline's made his decision is one retirement across just over five years in the game. So I don't think it's a bit anything that we should worry too much about at this moment in time. Ask me in another three, four counts. Who's saying they're parrots? Not an overhaul. We've had to make changes because of injuries. And the retirement of Caroline McGregor. Yeah, they've been, at the time, Caroline McGregor's a sore one for just that he's a very good midfielder. He brings a lot of experience. And I still think when you have got young-ish players in the squad, it does help with having that experience about. But I'm looking at the squad and good to see, like something like Ben Dope, for instance, Mike Johnson. Mike Johnson, sorry. Obviously, Conor Barring coming in. And it's good to see Ryan Gold. Because he's been spoke about for, I don't know how many years since. When was the last time he played? Yeah, he's a bit 20 years ago, isn't he? He's chosen 10 years ago. Yeah. And he's been in there merely a saw-stars the last two years in a row. So a bit of interest. And again, some of it I was speaking about, Rangers, a bit interest. Let's see what he selects. And does he stay with the back three? Does he go with a back four? Does he unleash something like Ben Dope? Does he give Tommy Conway an opportunity? And guaranteed him in field three. And Andy Robertson's going to play. Because you've got to go away and make Tommy Billy Gilman and John McGinnan my opinion. That's so strong in midfield with a lot of quality in it. But I'll be interested to see if, like say, Mike Johnson gets so opportunity to go and show what he can do. And as I mentioned, young Ben Dope, everybody speaking about him, he's been out in loan now. Hopefully he gets a chance to go and get a real runny games. And everybody thinks he could be an international star. You give us your teams. In the next hour? Yeah, but it definitely is. Paul, when you're looking at it there, you're saying to yourself, "Well, Grant Hanley, I'm not sure he's in the Norwich team at this moment. Paul, this is not in the team at Watford team. That's your back, guys." Scott, my Canada's done real well. I've watched his games for last part of us. I've watched them. I've watched them the week before. They could be two-one, but he'd done well in the game as well. So you're saying, is that the three would go with? Because he thinks if he goes with two, then maybe not get the game fitness. Do you remember he needs that extra boy in the game? No, the two are playing nears McKennan, sure. Yeah, that's exactly so he's going to go with a shorter plane. You know, so that's the thing. Now that I've got to make a decision on that. Will you get working? Give us your teams for the next hour? Okay, no problem. Yeah, Peter Grant's got his team ready, former Scotland assistant manager and the former captain. You've got yours. I've got mine. That's coming up after the news. Oh, 808, 17, 17, 700. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go! This is Paul Coop, Barry Ferguson. And Peter Grant, Wednesday evening, Scotland, back in action. So it's the World Cup we want to get to. Barry wants to go back to the top though. About Barry? This is a... Most I've wanted to talk about a Scotland game. Peter, it's a big one the more than I remember. Sure, yes. Yeah. I was trying to get back to the Celtic Rangers, but Barry's no having it, so we'll move on. When you go? It's not a favour, we'll just move on. It takes court on now. It swings, doesn't it? Over the years, and they're safe. Absolutely. You see it. That's why I... Hey, listen. It better swing quickly. I've no even foot now. I've takes my big power since the game. And you know what he's like? I've never seen a warden. So hoping you just remember this. I've just kept my powder dry. Just got on there. And maybe thanks because we're getting used to it. I never get used to it. You know, you've got to go and win the next one. That's the way it is. This is the Man of Mystery, of course. I don't need to talk about it. I've been playing their messages back and forth. You can't save my family. I think it's just passionate. Of course. And I get that. And I'm the same, and two is our... I've not heard from myself. The four lines have been done. Yeah, it's just about the best friend of mine. Mine should have saved us a moment in time. Reth Roberts have got a new manager. Yeah, Peter. Do you call him? Do you call him? You know him? Myself is a strange one because it was an American for a while. I don't mean it's a strange appointment, sorry. It was a strange one that Neil was doing really well at Barnsley. And I think that would end the playoffs or just one point, one place out. And it's still a few games left and he lost his job. It was really bizarre. He'd done a good job at Barnsley. Good coach. Yeah, so hopefully he goes up there and does really well, you know, because it's good to see guys getting an opportunity. I was surprised, obviously, when the manager lost his job. And all of a sudden, he went in this little bit of time, taking a bit of time over it, obviously. So when somebody loses their job, it's quick, let you always think somebody quicks going to come in. So I hope he does well. And Hart's have a new sporting director, Graham Jones. So he's leaving the SFA to go to time castle. And my goodness, Barry, who could have believed this start of the season for Steven Naismuth? And everyone's saying it, he's under pressure. Yeah, never seen it coming, Paul. First game against Rangers. I thought they were really competitive. And I'm thinking to myself, I was going to be another strong season for Hart's, but since that game, picking that point up against Rangers, Paul, they've been really poor. And they need to get a win as quickly as possible. What's that? Six games? Correct me if I'm wrong here? Yep, the cup. Six game, six defeats. So it's not good reading for Hart's, so they need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible. It's going to be a big two weeks when they're training around an Edinburgh, for sure. Seven games without a win. Oh, but six defeats, you're right. Six defeats, seven without a win. Peter? But Graham Jones, good appointment. Excellent work to him at Scotland. He was more on the physical side and the preparation side, done all the trips, everything. And he was excellent at that. And he looked off to the players' exceptional level. The players will enjoy working. Nazeo Nome, obviously, when he was involved with us at Scotland, obviously Graham was there. And he was first-class and I wish him great success at it. But yeah, again, Barry's torn, but I keep getting back to Yandanda. And he drew the Rangers. They could split Celtic and Rangers, or beat Celtic Rangers to the league. Even if you think that, Paul, you've drawn down nowhere. Team was just coming all for Rangers, with no sign, and there's nothing. Stick to play. Just slightly less than no matter what you think. Just play. Naze out the side, he's found himself out at the side. You've got to be careful. The season of the health alone and people don't forget. And that's why you've got to be careful. And listen, we looked at the squad and I said to you last week, I thought Hertz's squad was stronger than Rangers. You know, when you look at it, I'm talking about Premier League experience and that as well. I thought Hertz was stronger. So I found it really strange. So that's why you've got to tip your hat down. I've been how well they've done. Did you hear John again early in the week speaking about, you know, what went wrong in the summer? And he was really frank. He was honest about it. And he said, he was asked was fatigue a factor, especially with so many players playing in the top, top leagues. You know, in England, for example, where, I mean, he's playing how many 50, 60 games. He was asked about it. Possibly, I think a lot of the players in the tournament, a lot of players surprisingly struggled. I mean, in just Scotland, a lot of players. But it's easy to say now and look for excuses to say. To say, oh, I was tired. This is the reason that's the reason sometimes you've just got to take it on a chin, be responsible and realize that they're just a negative plan. So I did think about it and the weeks after I thought, oh, I was an actor there. But then when you look back every morning, wait not to go and play for Scotland in a major tournament, I couldn't have had more energy and enthusiasm and adrenaline for it. So that would just be an excuse. I think in something these days that got to try and get used to, I think this season could potentially be a 60 plus match season again. So it's something that I've got my eye on. And I've been able to do certain things differently. Next summer, when the Scotland Games come around, hopefully a bit of pressure in the mean. Didn't that be a factor? No, I'll let you so honestly take out on a chin. Just didn't go according to the plan. Wasn't good enough. Just been honest. Then I've got to agree with him. I was pretty confident we would get out the grip. I was Paul. I just thought we listened. Gentlemen are a top team. I just thought we gave them too much respect. The first get settling, the first half. Spritsling game was a bit different. But it was a hungry game. I just thought they were there for a take. Hungry. So I think, overall, I think quietly, behind four walls, it would be really disappointing to how the Euros went in the summer in Germany. Better. The TIG, what do you think? No. Listen, I don't think you can ever use that. People tell you a lot of games. I keep going back to Spain when they were so successful. They played four years in the bounce. Every final. But remember, that was a Barcelona team. They were playing every game. Every game in Europe, getting to finals, winning finals, terrorizing teams and finals. I think, if you're playing well, you look fitter. I think the German game baddies talked about it. The German game knocked the stuff in front of them. But it's absolutely a doubt to that. The criticism it came after that. But also the performance in yourself as a player. You've been looking forward to all that. And then, as I say, it was a boss balloon, really. To be careful on this with you. And I think that mentally then, it's not physically because, let's be honest, people keep talking about 60, 63 games now. I'd love to count up the minutes. How many games do they play? Because there's so many subs now. You've got five or six substitutes can come on now. So I'd like to count up the minutes. People keep mentioning the figure he's seen, 63. Right? How many games did you play? Full games did you play? Oh, 45 is that? Well, some of the top players play most of the game. Yeah, but what I'm saying is, Paul, I think it's 10 off the minutes. Because predominantly it's your start players, it's 10 off, it's your two wide players, your strikers. And the two attacking midfield players. The other boys that's coming off during the games, have you seen 60 minutes? Yeah, all right. If you look at most of them, and if you take it during the minutes, there's a complete difference to games. You know, and I'll look at that now. Because I know he's me even, I see that goalkeeper is going to be crumb. I keep mentioning that. That annoys me now, and people talk about physically. Yes, it is demanding. The Premier League is demanding. But all these other countries are playing in the Premier League now. There's no English boys, there's Jewish boys. It's playing there. They're all playing in the Premier League. Barry Duke, do you agree with that? The point about the minutes, they're not playing 90. Yeah, but I also pulled the way they looked after as well. And if you are playing three games a week, generally you're not even on the training ground. Yeah, you're doing a one down, you've got the ice bar, you're on the swimming pool, you're getting massage, you're getting your recovery shakes, you're getting everything. Look at that. I said you do get slightly tired, but listen, if you want to play at the highest level and compete, you've got to manage it. And you hear John McGinn saying, "Maybe I need to look this season, maybe change a few things that he may be done previous." So it's being sure you treat your boy, David, respect when you've got a lot of games. And if you do that and you miss out on any injuries, then generally you can play 45, 50, 55 games a season. I love that he said, John McGinn was saying, "But you wake up every day and think I'm playing for Scotland." Exactly. That's exactly what I'm saying. That's why I think this stuff and getting off in them pool. You know, with the German game, there's no doubt in my mind that, because these guys are super fitting the respect of that that Barry talked about. But I think I spoke a bit earlier, before you go to Scotland, we didn't train at the end of the afternoon. It's your thing. We used to turn on notes to assure a bit Barry's time. When a couple of times I was in the national team, we arrived in the Sunday, didn't we? We'd play all played in the Saturday, we arrived in the Sunday. You trained hard on Sunday, and then you played the game on Wednesday. I'm not, that's why I'm not a great believer in this big split of two games away from, because I think they're fresher, as they get the game played, then back to their clubs. See the two games? There's two long people sitting about, whoa, you know, not doing a lot of training. The physical side here is definitely a problem for me. Generally, if we turned up in the Sunday, meet the game on Wednesday. It'd be the Tuesday before probably the full squad would train, and sometimes a full squad wouldn't train some David de Vakota. And I go, so it's difficult for me, and you've been involved in it. Management is a coach in international football. But I think John McGinn explains it perfectly. I don't think he's using any excuses. It just wasn't a be just wasn't good enough. And again, if you want to play in international football, you want to play European football, you want to play in the best league, you've got to be able to churn out. 50, 55, 60 games a season. Here's his captain, Andy Robertson speaking today, for the first time since the Euro is about what happened. Yeah, obviously, we were disappointed. That's, there's no, there's no battling that up. We went there with hopes. We went there with dreams. We wanted to achieve something that's never been achieved before by the country. That was what we aimed to do. And yeah, we, we didn't manage to do that. So the first game didn't get us off to a good start, and we were kind of back against the wall to, you know, from the very first minute. And then the second game I thought was positive. And then, yeah, the last game was, was disappointing. We went there believing that we could win the game. Yeah, don't think they'd defeat the last game's too important, because I think the last 10 minutes was just crazy in terms of two teams just trying to not get put out of tournament. It was never going to end now, in my opinion. We live and we learn, and we had to deal with a sum of the disappointment of, you know, not being happy with ourselves, not being happy collectively. But, you know, now we move on. We've got our international duty quite quickly in the season, and now it's time to look forward. And how does he look forward and put it behind him? Well, it has to be. That's our jobs. We've all had, I think, if you look through the whole squad, we've all had disappointment in the past, whether that's getting beaten cup finals, whether it's relegation, whether it's missing out in league titles, whatever it is. We've all had disappointment. And I think that's part and parcel of being a footballer. We have highs, but we also have lows. And I think this summer was a low for all of us. And, of course, it was. But we have to then move on from it. We have to now be, if we weren't positive, then it's pointless as being here. We have to believe in, okay, we might have some doubters again within our country. You know, we fail our country right behind us in the summer, and we get that they're disappointed in them. Now it's up to us to try and drag them along with us again. For us to do that, we know we need to perform. We know there's now pressure on us to perform, and it's up to us to go out and do it. And that starts on Thursday. We've worked so hard to get in group A in the Nations League. It's not been easy. You know, we've played games against Albania, Hamden in front of 15,000 people. And now, you know, we're in group A with, you know, three really good nations. So we've came a long way about it. It's up to us to now stay there. And it's up to us to compete at that level. And that's what we need to show now. And Peter, his club side set left started the season so well. Big win for them at the weekend. Does that help him as he comes back for Scotland? Well, it kind of excuses for tiredness, because the season's just started out for sure. But listen, he spoke about it right at the start. The Germany won, given the bloody nose. There's no doubt in my mind of that, Paul. Because if you can't even play really well, you can't wait the next game coming along. It's going to be interesting, you know, how the pointers turned out for the game. You know, it's turned like expectation now. And if there's all the hullabaloo going there, and the great vibe you had, the Spain games, all these sort of things, they were brilliant. And you got the fans right up there. But then they were let down, as I say, the pin and the balloon sort of thing. So they'll need to be lifted again. We hope they come out tomorrow night. But I think they'll need to be lifted again. You have to perform again. That is the nature of football. When you've had a disappointing period, you've got to lift the fans, not the fans left you, unfortunately. You have got to go and give them something that they can go and shoot. And it's to go and start again. The squad looks weaker to me. You know, in respect to that, of course, because you've got injuries and whatever. But even if they're fully fit, squad now, I'm thinking, right, okay. So then we come back to a couple weeks ago, we were speaking about the youngsters. Where are they coming from? How are we going to get them playing? This is the problem we have here. This is the problem we have. It's not the guys that's there already at this minute in time. It's the guys that are coming next. Where are we going to get them? And this is the worry for me. People were talking a little bit about, you don't play players or strikers. They don't play in a pair anymore. Who's to say that? You can still working out in the training ground. You can still working out at clubs. There's still a place for that. There's no doubt in my mind of that. People have got to understand the game. You don't get too near to the front. That's why I'm saying, you've got to maybe have a midfielder. Then if you're not going to do that, who's got a night, he gets support to that front man very quickly and scores goals. Well, we're listening to both John McGinn and Andy Robertson. And I'm expecting that reaction because both of them sound disappointed. They expected more. And quite a member. We have a worth a few years back. We've qualified for two euros. We're in the top league as well. Group A, which is decent. But we're currently against a difficult opponent tomorrow night. So I'm certainly listening to both of the players talk there. I'm certainly expecting that big reaction. And hopefully, Hamden's Phil. Got your teams ready. We're going to hear from Stevie Clark about the Polish threat because Poland, well, what does he think? I think we watched the Polish performances in the tournament in the summer. They defend well. They have strong defence. They're also very positive when they go forward. They attack with the two wingbacks. They have two strikers. If they play the same system. Two attacking midfield players. They can be quite open at times. I expect an open game, to be honest. He said, yeah, it's going to be a tough run of games tomorrow. And then against Portugal over there. It's not something I've thought about because we have to go and approach the games the way we're going to approach them. We have to try and improve. We have to try and get results. And hopefully, stay in the top flight of the nation's league. They are the games that are in front of us. You just have to approach the games. We're a positive mindset. And hopefully, we can produce some performances that make people a little bit happier about the national team. What do you make of what he's saying? And who wants to go first with the team? Well, the thing I'm saying is that he's talking about the way they play with the wingbacks. That's what we didn't do. They play with two strikers. That's what we didn't do. And if you're playing that, it's just not all those of that. And that's why I'm saying we couldn't get near she items or anything like that. And I felt for the defenders who couldn't pass the ball forward, I felt for the midfielders who couldn't pass, because there was no big pass to it. So you have to get the system right, Paul. And that helps the players. And especially if we're not good two strikers at this moment in time. But I'll give you, if you want me to go first in and then, Barrick, you've caught me in shreds. So obviously, I'm going to stick with our back three. Got no bad goals. And then it'd be Sutter, Portes, and McKenna for me. Sutter, Portes, and McKenna. He was good, but he wasn't either the night. And should he have come to Scotland? Well, before the officer granted, he gives the rest to the team. Free transfer. I was surprised. Rangers are Celtic. Didn't have a nibble. He's played Premier League. He spoke about it. - Sure. - Last year, didn't he? Played Premier League. Done really well in the championship down in England. Went to Copenhagen. Done really well there. So, yeah, I was surprised that nobody happened to him say a chance, because he's experienced. He's experienced. I know he's only 27, 28. 27, yeah. - You think he was 35 all week? - I don't know. He couldn't age. Law is much better at the stats than you. I didn't quite say that. - He's actually a good age. - Actually, he isn't age as well. - Good experience. I'm not a national player as well. So, yeah, but I was pretty surprised. Rangers could well have been in for him as well, because he was on a free, as you said. And they could have done with him. When you look at the Rangers, Paul, you're saying, whether he's still wearing Premier League, that's one of the greatest year for any of them. Because it depends where he's Premier League. A forest would have been done. It would have been slightly different, because then sometimes our wages can get halved. - He's not there any longer. - No, but you're not saying at that time, so that the wages he's on at that particular time. So, when he goes to Copenhagen, I think forest would have paid a big chunky's wages for him to go in there. So, then when he comes back, it depends then on what's got us. So, we're all saying self-taker Rangers, but maybe they couldn't afford any respect. But I'm so amazed that Celtic Avengers could please much of his last parmour. - Yeah, well, he's in Gran Canaria. - Well, I've flocked on chairs. - I've always made a decent choice. - He could have been Ockenhowie, or Lennox Town. - What's the problem? - Exactly, especially with the summer we've had. - Exactly. - I was for sure. - Dear, dear. - So, you want me again? - I do, right? I'm going to go... - Yeah. - I've not seen much a young Mike's, so, but I'm going to go with Tony Rossner again. - Right. - Wing back, because of wing back. - Tony on the right. Tush up further up, to go and attack. Robotson on the opposite side. - Man, did Robertson the captain. - I'm going to go slightly different in here. I'm going to go with Gilmer on his own. - Okay. - We'll make Tony and Christie just in front of him. Ahead of that, I'm going to go join McGinn and Conway, and give John that license to get up there, and make their runs. There's too much fuel players. Christie and Mick Tony and do the same, and the two wing back. To have the wing back, as soon as you get down, cross it in. Get Mick Tony, get Christie going support. Billy Gilmer being out, but you want it to a little bit deeper than most, and you're back three still in place. - Yeah, I'm... - It's gone? - The team I'm going with, I could probably say now, it's 100%, and we're going to be the team that Stephen Clapp picks, but this is what I would go with. - Yeah. - I'd go back four, I would just go and change it, because I think they need to do something different. - Okay. - I would go Johnson, certain McCain, or Robotson. I'd go to midfield three. Gilman, Mick Tony, and McGinn. - Christie and Doc, either side of that, they don't need to have whith and corn me up top. - Right, so you've got Doc and you're like... - Yeah, get him in, get him in, get him in. Unleash him. He's well spoken about every time, or the small time I've seen him. And play that he's certainly been a bright spark. So listen, I don't care what age, just get him in, see what he can do. - He'll end up rip him up. - Captain, I spoke about him today, my boat, Ben Dork. - I ain't going to put any pressure on the, the wee man. I love, I love Dokey. I've got a lot of time for him. Like I said, I can see the quality that he's got. Liverpool, he's, he's obviously went out on loan now to, to Middlesbrough, which will, which will give him so much good experience. And yeah, look, he's, he's an exciting player. Of course, yes, that's what he is. He's, he's always been that from a young age. He's pace, he's power. But there's also things he needs to work on. And me and him have spoke about it. And he knows that as well. And he's a hungry individual. He's, he's very determined to do the best for, for himself and for the, for the team. And that's important. And like you said, he's exciting. He has exciting Dokey. But we have to be careful. He's a young player. He needs to gain experience. He needs to, he needs to work on things. He knows that. And but the quality that does have is very good. And I think he'll have a fantastic career at whatever level that may be. And I think he'll have a good international career. But it's important that we're patient with him. And finally, I've joined me again. Spoke him out as well. Can I just say, in terms of a careful, it's not getting, how is he going to get experience? Yeah. It's your mantra. Be tight. But how is he going to get experience? Listen, it's great that Liverpool have done a brilliant job putting them out in Middlesbrough. He'll probably be one of the favourites to get in the top six in the championship. There's a wee bit of pleasure there. He's in an international stage. You don't bring him in at a squad, not a play. Of course, but I tell you about the supporters. The supporters are forgiving from something new and exciting. They accept, don't go into trying to take someone on and lose in possession. They accept that if it's something that's been there and maybe not at the good euros and that's the exact same thing and loses possession. Oh, but a different maybe feel towards that. And I'm the same as Barry. I don't know when you're going to get an opportunity now, Paul. You know, the day it's changed completely, obviously. But these young ones, well, a mile, we know people say, "Oh, but he's completely different." Is it? It's 17. Is it completely different? Yeah. He maybe, "Oh, well, well." Exactly. Yeah. You don't know him. He was 16, you know. He was definitely the final one. Yeah, it's tough for young ones, because people keep saying, "Oh, they've no good experience." How do you actually get the experience by playing games in football, on a stage where there's a lot of fans, there's a wee bit of pressure, because it's sinker swim time. Well, Barry, that's what I think I was going to ask you. We're talking about our own, Paul, about the fitness levels and the amount of games joining that was talking about playing. Game time. Yeah. We've got kids not playing. We've got players not playing. So, they're never going to have their game legs. We spoke about it before, and I hate getting back to yesterday, but five games a week. But that was not all about the quality. It was just about the muscles in your legs were getting used to playing, that fatigue, getting up again, going again, playing two games no one day. And we're not saying that was right, wrong and different. What I'm trying to say is, you're another off your leg. So, you're not pouring your legs, you know? So, you were used to doing that. Now, I'm saying, if you're getting 60 minutes, if you're constantly getting 60 minutes, 60 minutes, you're getting. It's not 100 minutes, which sometimes the game can be now. Or longer, in tournament football, it's extra time. Absolutely, but these kids now are not playing any games, Paul. Any games, or they're getting 10 off after 60 minutes. So, they're never going to have that level of fitness, what you would call fitness legs and your legs, that power you've got to use. So, how's these young boys going to get an opportunity? They've got to come in at a team at this moment in times under a bit of pressure because of the euros. So, let's give somebody a sparket. The system may be not suit the young boy, don't. But he could maybe come on in the game and light it up without a little bit of magic, you know, and that's maybe something. So, I understand, Stevie, maybe not start them. Like, I understand them bringing them on and firing them on. You might see them. You might see them at some stage. Look, I'm just putting them in because I'm excited to see what the young man can produce. But listen, it might be the idea they won't have enough to go. Let's give them the opportunity. But you know what I know, I can't understand. You're playing this out of the, you're often a Sunday and then Monday, it's still a recovery day. That was called Sunday. No? Yeah, I'm a bit baffled, but you've had a rest day. So, you've been shooting, especially this early this season? But, I must admit, when I was at Celtic as a player, the Sunday you were off predominantly because most games weren't a Saturday. But then the Sunday, the mind's a thought you were doing Saturday. Anyway, it's the hardest day of the week, Paul. Honestly, God, they're running, they're running. The football we're done. Intensely. You'd be two hours in the training position. I'm not saying it was, but there was everything involved in it. There was games that was running. And this is the Monday, after a really tough game in the Saturday. This Sunday was your recovery. You do, but you won't see if you've been in the Saturday. You want a long line, you better take it. Because when you come in and Monday you're ready to go again. Where did you be doing the Saturday night? And give us a call. I was hoping you were out. Yeah. Barry, we would have been victorious for me. Victoria's of course. Yeah, but she was the last thing you'd be delighted. Have the boys all left home? Of course, yeah, from the piano bar. Barry, who was your favorite? I'd be top-to-top in my bed. Yes, I would. I would be listening. Just trying to take a few. I know it was one of the ones where it was. Obviously, the low-cooked may be of Hamilton Palace. Of course. Maybe we've been a chaos. A chaos, doesn't it? As long as we fall back, obviously after my time. We'll have to take a break and we're back more on our chaos. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. It's the Go Radio Football Show. The Wednesday evening edition, Barry Ferguson, Paul Coley, and Peter Grant back to the game at the weekend then, Barry. So, Peter wants to talk to you about more time than we get. And he's wiped out. What do you know? What, software the next one? I mean, what can I say? Yeah, we are. There's investigation going on. What happened to that microphone, Peter Grant? I mean, a lot of people said, just switch it off anyway. Absolutely. And that's the family. That's your family. I've found that for you, too. You've got one. There's a Raymond and a Peter Grant on saying, "Dad, you're always there." No, I'm not going to order any of you. No, I'm trying to be fair. I tried to be fair. Yeah, I respect. I'm not going to order. Barry's absolutely the same. I've got it quite with a beach. Well, six, two, five, one. There's so much to talk to about that beforehand. And, you know, Rangers will be hoping for that kind of response. And it's not till January the 2nd. It seems a long, long way. Well, Ben, you've spoken about it, didn't you? I haven't said it. You said, "No matter what game you're doing, it's exactly what you've said in the build-up to the game." You never know Paul what's going to happen in the games. You don't know what's going to happen to that 90 minutes. The whistle goes, then you've got to play that game. What other way it comes? So, it doesn't matter what the forums like. You rest or somebody going again is a favourite because of the way they're playing. But you never know where the game is going to turn out. I ain't interested in January. No. Seriously, at this moment in time, no. The most important thing is a week on Sunday. Yeah. Dundee United, again, Rangers. Twelve o'clock. I mean, that's always a great game, isn't it, Ben? I used to love it. I don't know what Grandie thought when even up there with Celtic. I love going up with Anadise. Yeah, there's a wee slow opponent down the hill. It's pretty successful, most times up there. You stop and get your lunch. You used to go to the Swallow Hotel? Yeah, it was. But you were going up to play against some really, really good players. People don't realise how good, like, they'd probably start up in that way. Yeah. Heggity, narrate the band. You know, banding. You know, you'd drive Millen God rest on the pace of him. You know, you'd always be copying. Hemish by copying. I remember I tend apparently that it, no, no, it was. And you're the end of this season. And I think we could have stopped it in a shoot at the league. And it was no, no, not in the penalty. And I smashed it. Hemish by his foot up, blocked it. He said, "Don't you need to do an accountant attack?" We'd run all known again. Yeah, but it really cost us a league of help. And because I think I've had a one-not-one at two points. But I think it was Rangers. Wouldn't league that year of... I'm not sure if it was Rangers or Abba. He knows fine who it was. I'm not sure if it was '86. Sir Alex Ferguson, the last one. Of course, before Abba didn't. Yeah, before he went. Yeah, I'm not sure if it was that year before. And you. Barry, who were you up against? Who do you remember playing against it? Tannadaise. I actually played against Maurice Malpass, did you? Well, wait a few times. He played Cent of the pitch. Yeah, when I was young, coming through. How good was he? Yeah, I mean, always remember. He was always at a club player. Maurice Malpass. Richard Goaff as well. Yeah. For Goaff as well, so to see. Yeah, there was loads. I mean, at that time, there was a bit of money. Floating about. Dundee and I. He's an Abba, Dean and Hartson. Habs of a buying coin a lot, a phone. Phone players spending a bit of money. It was always a difficult game. Because if you're not there, Paul, and you weren't at it, you always were coming back down the road. We are a sword one. Oh, you David Dodgens started up with a fantastic partnership at times, you know. You'd really, really good players. And you knew every game you were going to do there. It was, boy, Derek Stark played it right back. John Hoe, all these guys. Start up Mary's. We're talking about Hamish. You know. And they were all doing exceptionally well. And that was a team that got it to the semi-final, the European game. Yeah. You're a peeping cup. It up a bit. Or cheated with Roma. Because remember, they found out that the referee had actually tennis broken. You know. I remember people used to say, oh, the referee, this is foreign refs have been influenced big time. And it was proven in some of the cases. Absolutely. And David, Walter was assistant manager. That's right. Yeah. And Jim at the time, you know. So it was really, really tough games we had up there. So but really, really good games. Again, really, really good players. Just looking there, Barry, I think. And stringers are snogging. Yep. Getting ready for it. Celtic women's dead really well. They were in Finland. They were in a goal down. And then Sorsha at Nunnen scored a hat trick. We didn't start off the best. But as we got into it, I think we played better. We had a lot of ball and, yeah, I think. I don't think I ever thought that we were going to lose. But it is just about finding our final ball. I think it's something that we've been kind of struggling a bit. It's crossed into the box and stuff. But I knew there was chances there. And I knew someone was going to get on the end of something. So, yeah, I was delighted. So well done, Sorsha. Well done, Celtic. I mean, that's a big, it's great for the women to do well in the European football. Absolutely. I see Rangers play Arsenal as well. So you weren't, any time, involving Euro. It was, I said, a couple of weeks ago, Paul. Hope Rangers lose every game they messed it later home. And Euro, you know, you hope they do great, you know. Because you want Scottish football to give a bell on that. You know, you want them to be involved in the Champions League. I mean, we're seeing even the games that's coming up, even though I know the Rangers are not in the Champions League. But look at the matches, they're playing like a Tottenham and a Manchester United. These are the games and the fixtures you won't go as go, you know, very fair clubs. Because that's what they deserve in the respect of that. You want them to be playing in these types of competitions. For the women, Barry, we just see them in the middle part for the game against Arsenal. Huge, right. Yeah, it's a big one that will be a tough one. Yeah. Arsenal, right, good team. Obviously, there'll be a difference in finances there as well. But listen, hopefully they can get down there and come back up with a decent result. The money in the women's game in England is now the serious money, isn't it? Yeah. They have Man City, Arsenal, Villa. Well, you're talking about Arsenal, they can get 60,000. Yeah. Paul, they're the girls' football there. You know, so they do that. They do it well and they've done it for years and years. But listen, Paul, there's a hell of a lot of money down around the English game. We keep talking about it right through the FA and everything. The money comes in for the television revenues. Different level. And that's what we're seeing. It's, you'd be fair to these clubs. I was looking at some of the results. Was it last week or the weekend before? There was a 10-0, a 9-0. And you're thinking to yourself, that's not the way we want it to be going. But financially, we've not got that structure. It's a hell of a lot better than it was. But it's still a million miles away if you're wanting to challenge against you. So that's why you're hoping that, like, say Celtic New York can get in there and give one of them a bloody nose and be a bit successful. Hopefully that brings a bit of money into it. We're looking forward to the Scotland game tomorrow night. Banny gave us his team, four at the back. Peter gave us his team with three at five. It could be totally opposite of what Steve Clapz going to pick. But I just think, listen, you bring young players into this squad. I would like to see them be given the opportunity. But understand of that, they don't start. But you would like to see them at some stage, Paul, in the game. This is a bit more from the manager talking about the game, about the overhaul we heard that earlier. But he said, yeah, there's a lot of pressure here. He spoke about Poland as well. Let's see what you're saying about the match. I think all the games are important. Obviously, we've touched on the summer, we were disappointed, we have to move on. So, this is the first game. For the players that have been playing at the start of the season, they go to their club, they have a little freshness about them. For me, it's been a long summer. And I look forward to the game and see what we get from the players. And we also have a big reaction. We also mentioned that John, again, was speaking about Ben Dork, somebody you've both been talking about tonight. I know just these abilities, characteries, he cheered me up last night. There was only five or sixes that arrived, because a lot of the boys were travelling, played yesterday in the world, touching on it. And he said, I fasted, it might have been different. That's just his character, and it's brilliant. He's got a lot of confidence. He's a good laugh, and he's fitted in well. So, he's excited to play some games at Madhusboro, and I think he's ready to contribute for us. I think everyone's aware of his ability, and certainly something different to what we've got. And hopefully you can see that in Thursday. You can tell he's a character. Can't you, Ben Dork? Yeah. You need that, Paul, run about your group. That doesn't matter. Once you're in there, you've got to take part. As we've talked about even going in a tournament, Barry, as I've seen, was better than me. You look at that. Who's the ones that mix well? Who can bring about a life to it? Because it will need a little bit of lift. Ten days is a lot when you're away with your national team. But any team, Barry will tell you three seasons and all that of the same. So you need a little bit. Somebody's got to be sparked to them. And that can be on the training pitch. You can be in the dining room. Because it's so important that you have the characters run about you. But the bot lane has almost come down in his ability. The players will look at his ability and think, "Well, this kid can play." He's got that. Maybe that conference and that cokeness that he can take on in the pitch, which should be brilliant. Because we need that type. They can be the match winners for us. We've got to understand that it all takes all different types. You can have all the guys that plug the gaps and do a different thing, but you need match winners. Serie A has been brilliant for your nephew, Lewis, who's getting back to fitness. What about McTombany and Gellmore both ending up? Yeah, but I want to see both of them. Two players that are ranked highly. Scott McTombany. I can't believe Manchester United let them go. Honestly, I don't see the reason why that happened. They like him. He's athletic. He can get a goal. He's good on the ball. Good size as well. I think he'll go over there and do really well. And me, Billy Gellmore, is just a... I enjoy eating what's just a proper football. That's what I would call him. And especially when you saw them against Liverpool the weekend so week. I'm not saying Scott McTombany would change the game, but some day with his heart and ability was needed. Well, the thing was, Paul, it was 10 hugs in it. If you're after it, when he said by 10 Cassimiro, we needed legs. And I'm saying, if there's one thing you're going to be playing, you know against Liverpool, you know you need legs anyway. And the one thing Scott McTombany's got is great energy and enthusiasm. You know, talking about that in the Scotland games. I hope they've not got more corners again. Because he was our biggest threat at set plays. And we've got him taking corners. And I know people say, "I'd be a great delivery." If we've got players that can cross the ball in the 18-yard box for Scott McTombany going to his head on the end of, because he's brilliant at finding that space. So touching on that. But when I heard the 10 hugs in that other day, I could have cried. And I know it's probably maybe this financial fair player, whatever. But if you're a manager, you've got to say, "Listen, he can he go." We need to have something else because that is one place where we are struggling at this moment team. And we seem to be getting run over every week. Because Fernandez is a really, really good player. We are like Fernandez. He's a free spirit. He plays everywhere. So the one thing you need to have then, Paul, is people will leg round about it who can fill leg gaps. You know that when he goes, I'm missing. And I don't mean I'm missing because I think he's a wonderful player. I think it's a lot of criticism because he's a point and whatever. I understand that. And that means a lot. But these other guys are the ones that find the gap for it. He's a fellow species for him. Both Gilman and McTormany. I think they'll go there and wrap it up. Do you? I honestly don't. They don't know him. Go and tell no, Gilma. Oh, obviously. Of course. And Scott McTormany is him. Because what they used to do there, they was talking to the Chelsea boys. He was in Chelsea. They're like playing a 10v10, 9v9. They'll blow the whistle. They've all got to run to the side of the pitch. And then they've got to do 100 yards. Maybe six or seven. Really? Yeah. And then they'll go back into the game again. And then it's one touch, Paul. And then they'll go again because he's fitness things and massive thing for him. I can guarantee you, I don't know young Billy well at all. But Scott McTormany, he'll have no problem with that. That's for sure. Greater than those, him. Do you know that? How do you do me call some great old Barry? Is it every hour on the hour? Is he calling you? Oh, he's been blocked. It's funny. I've no seen him. Love it. No, he's out filming as well. Oh, we're just doing this. Scotland's something. I don't know what I've seen that. It's very good, isn't it? I've seen that he goes up and travels. We up north. That's not that from places. Beautiful Scotland, he goes all over. I think the new city. It's trying to get worse. So he doesn't need to watch Rangers? Guys, there's a question from Gary who's on. For the future, he said, look, Steve Clark has done brilliantly. No question. But looking to the next manager, whenever it's Steve Clark goes, should the SFAB be looking for someone? Maybe a bit more aggressive, dynamic kind of coach, more attacking football, less cautious, more willing to freely attack and take risks. That's what the majority of the fans want in the future. So that's a tough one because Stevie Clark's taken us to two tournaments in a row. I guess it's during the tournament. There's a lot of criticism saying we should have been a bit more, well, you fill in the world. It's dangerous, gung-ho. Like it. But it's easy to say that Paul made all love to be, but I've not got the players. I've not been disrespectful in Asia, but I've not got the players coming through either. What was it? Celtic had three, if you include James Forrest at the weekend, Scottish players, Rangers had Sutter and Barham. Barham. There you go. That tells you enough. There's your two biggest clubs. And you've got five players involved at the weekend. And that doesn't look as if there's money on the bench either. So there's a problem right away. So it doesn't matter who the manager is going to be. So sometimes it's going to be like plugging the gaps. Because if you're sitting there, Steve, you decide to go tomorrow, for instance. David Moyes would be ready to talk to her lesson. But people would have it that similar. No, it's not. David had a wonderful career even in that ever in West Ham. Remarkable at West Ham. You know, when you think of the players you had, but if you have not got these players that can go and play with that style, you have to find a way not to lose. Steve had done it exceptionally well at Comannock. David had done it exceptionally well at Everton, you know. And a brilliant job at West Ham, because that's slightly different, because West Ham are always used to keep you back to the Bobby Murray, and all that sort of stuff. They wanted to be that flamboyance. Look at one European trophies. Remarkable finishes in Premier League, which is not easy. So the players are not there. They're not getting their players through, because there's not enough of them playing. And that is the problem we're going to have. No matter who the manager is, listen, I've no doubt of Stevie Clark had really exciting forwards and wingers and whatever. They'd all be involved in the group. We don't have it. So you can't pull it for your top part. We have to not show that and give them opportunity. How are they going to get that God on my nose? This is the Go Radial Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go! This time tomorrow night, we'll be here. It's going to be Mark Guidi, distinguished football journalist that tells me here, and an excellent ongoing... Yeah, indeed. Yeah, I'm jealous of me, a goalkeeper. But yeah, best pundit in the business, certainly, from the journalistic fraternity. And the one and only Andy Walker, who will be here. The rye wet of Andy Walker. He's always got a comment about you, Peter. Have you met him for tomorrow? I had a half ten, doesn't it? Yeah, because he's one tomorrow. He's one tomorrow night looking forward to that. Because we'll be really well-being, ramping up ahead of the Scotland game. So we're talking about, well, the line-ups for tomorrow. What do you think the lineup will be? Because you said, Barry, I'll tell you, this won't be the line. I don't think there'll be many changes. You've been granding me, and I think that extra player up top. I think he will probably stick to a back three. I'm just saying what I would do, Paul. Have you looked back history over the last four years? He's been pretty loyal. It's like, I can see why, because, listen, the group of players have done excellent in terms of getting to the Euro, some massive results, some big performances. So yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing how they approach the game, because listen, we're at home as well. And you've already got off to a good start in the nation's league. Peter, what team do you think he'll play? Definitely one, because I don't think it'll be far away. I'm always seeing me, the boys are just playing. Maybe the one it can take him in is Hanley. Couldn't maybe come in for porties through experience, and Stevie likes playing him. John Sear's been playing games, so that's why I'm giving John the Northern that, because he's out there, guys. McKenna's been playing games, so it could be between Hanley and Portes. And I've heard him saying that Portes was probably the best offender before he got the sending off in the game. You know, and we missed him. I know he's got that rashness in him, but I think we missed him when he wasn't involved, because he uses the ball well from the back. But don't get me wrong, I'd have been very difficult to find anybody in that particular game against Germany anyway, because it was so tough. But I never forget that, they will. Yeah, bang, I've got to get away from that. That's the one thing I would say, but I've got to get up the pitch, Father. And Stevie talked about how Poland, that's the way I'd like people to speak about Scotland, because we have the players that's capable of that. They play with their wing backs, follow up the pitch and get crosses in the ball. You can get strikers, or, as I say, I've went for the next round of the field, because that would take the responsibility away from John. You need runners off to demonstrate more. Absolutely, and I would put John near him, because John goes and presses the ball very well. That's his best position. You let him off, at least John McGinn, and Mick Tomini. You let him go up and get in contact with the main striker, who have it's going to be, whether it's Dykes or Conway, or even Shankland. I just like the term, I think. They're a real threat when they play 10, 15 yards, further up the pitch. I know Ben Tristan is saying, wing back, there's a, Ralph's not played this year. No, he's not. No, he's looking fit to be fair. I'm going to watch some of the America, but he played a few of the games in America as well, because all of us are joining him wasn't there, obviously. So, he's only games, he's missed his obviously league matches, and he's taken back in, all of us are joining him back in. But, as I say, I don't know much about young Mike, so many games he's played. So, maybe something he looks at in that respect, because I think he'd been playing wing back out there. So, maybe something he's looking at there. Let's hear from the captain. We know that Callum McGregor is retired. He was asked about his commitment to Scotland. If we both weren't committed, we wouldn't be here. So, for me to think that tells you everything that you need to know. We're here, we want to be successful again with Scotland, and we know that the manager and the captain can help that in a big win, and that's why we're both here again. You know, the manager wants to get to World Cup. He's made that clear, so do I. I want to play for Scotland as long as I can, as long as I'm good enough to get picked. And, you know, I'll never shy away from that, as long as I'm fit, and as long as I'm healthy, as long as I feel as if I can play at that level, then I'll continue to do so. So, I think that shows the commitment that we're here. Because for the first time, in a long time, there's been criticism for a while now, you know, about Stevie Clark when he gave us the squads. The other week, it was kind of touchy. Wasn't it, Peter, the media conference, what we saw of it? Because they said, "Oh, there's been a lot of complaint. Oh, how many people?" You know, he actually quizzed the media, which isn't title two, but it's not the best look as we go into this campaign, because as you said, we're on the A section. So, we have done well. It's just that disappointment when we get to the tournaments. The World Cup is what we want to be in. Well, you know what it's like. See when you're successful, everybody's telling you how good you are. Yeah. You're trying to play it down. When you're not playing so well, it's a complete opposite. I think sometimes you can bite back a little bit, but when it becomes consistent, you have to be very, very careful. Because listen, the big guy's here at Lake Stevie, the big guy's here to don't like Stevie. And that's a problem you've got. And we found that as well. Some guys are quite backing, no matter what you're done, they would still try and help you through. And the other guys are desperate for you to fall on your own sword. So, I can understand Stevie's point of view from it, but you have to be careful because they've got the power to the pen, they've got the headline, and they can write everything for everybody. And they're just waiting, you're saying one wrong thing. And that's why, like, even the email, I mean, even I gave them the opportunity. I don't know if you're saying that. Listen, the move on. He's not here. Let's talk about the boys that's here. Have you, I'm just looking at the players that are actually missing out. Tony's a certain starter as he plays. He's me. For me, he has Scotland's most important player. You always say that. Yeah, I've obviously said it for a long day. Hickey. Oh, I love watching him. What a player that young man has. But he's, again, I've got these out for the full season. Again, again, yeah, he's went back in. So he's out for the full season. Because we had them so again, but it didn't, well. You've got three certain starters for me that would be playing. And then you're obviously missing a lot of Parsons, Greg Taylor, James Forest. Guys that are very good players as well. So you're missing a bunch of guys that would be important for this squad. Awafen International will get your prediction a moment. I want to ask both of you how much you're looking forward. Because Peter, we haven't seen you since the draw. The games, what about the glamour games at Atlanta? For example, again, Celtic and Aston Villa. Listen, I'm really looking forward to it, Paul. Because it's going to be interesting. It's about like Scotland and I respect sometimes when it's not the top, top teams. People start saying, we've got to get X, Y and Z amount of points now, because it's the biggest chance to win home games. I understand that 100%. But you've got to remember, they're good players in good sides. At Atlanta, we're excellent. The final will be a look man and whatever. In the final last year, they were brilliant. You know, against, was it Liverpool's when they played? Even at Liverpool when I watched them. Absolutely brilliant. So all of a sudden, it doesn't become your Madrid, but it means at Atlanta, a very good side. Villa, I'm really looking forward to that game, because that is a brilliant stadium. And Mario will tell you something, but it's a brilliant playing surface as well. It's a real proper arena, so the atmosphere is going to be phenomenal there. So games like that are really looking forward to. And I'm sure that's the challenge for Celtic to win home games. And when you're playing in Europe, Mario will tell you, obviously, because you've got two finals and whatever, you have to look after your home games. And the point you pick away from home, they're worth their weight and go. Yeah, they're the ones at home are so important. Brattas Lava, Barry, we talked about it the other night, Man United, and Tottenham. I'm just looking at the glamour ones. Yeah, they are, I mean, you look at the games at Rangers, I've got that exciting games. Oh, big games, and it's something that is a footballer. That's the games you've already been involved in. But the other two jump out, obviously, back on the Brighton, and then down to Old Trafford, and then obviously Tottenham, and Ange coming back to Glasgow. Who's that? I wonder if they'll talk about that, Richard. Maybe. You've hit Nice as well, you know. Coming out days on Glee, you love it down there, don't you? Yeah, I'm Piacos away from home, Malmo as well. So, yep, that's some tasty games for Rangers. John McGinn was asked about playing against Celtic. Yeah, I'm absolutely delighted that it's January. So I had that two days with my phone off. And so, and then when I found out it was the last game, I was like, "Right, I'll deal with that after Christmas." But I just knew I actually wasn't watching the draw. I wasn't watching the draw because I knew it was a one in four chance. So, just as soon as I heard my phone buzzing, I thought, "Oh, no." So, I knew all my powers, all my family. I'm sure they were wanting Celtic to win, but it's something I've dealt with in the past. We're sitting there in hubs, and I've got a job today for Villa. What a job he is doing for Villa. What was that? That's from the game, what was, "Oh, no, after the game." I think he patched even his brother. He patched even, he wasn't taking any calls for a couple of days. Barry, what do you think then tomorrow night Scotland up against Poland? What are we going to see? Hopefully, our reaction, we obviously did disappointment. No, obviously, the criticism we're getting after the Euro. So, yeah, look, you're at home, Paul, you have to take the game to Poland. I don't think Poland, they're a top team. I think they're a good international team. So, I'm expecting Scotland to go off to a winning way tomorrow night at a handling. If pushed, what would you score like? What would you be happy with Scotland? Two one. Good score line. Peter, what kind of game are you looking for and expecting? I think I've been nervous in this round about it, Paul. It's definitely a group. It's going to maybe be playing together for the first time, because some of the changes it has to be made in the respect to it. And playing under a slightly different pressure now, I'm going to go for a one-one draw, unfortunately. I just think, I think Poland are not a bad side. You know, and I think people will see that tomorrow night with the quota that they have as well. So, as I said, at this moment in time, there's a sort of, I know people say after the Lord Mayor's show was a disappointment. I can sense that a little bit, so these boys need to start right. But in saying that, they've talked about they've worked on their front forward play. So, I've been trusting that you see if that works tomorrow. Nick has brought Alan Aaron in and John Carver was talking about that. He's more working on the forward play. So, I've been trusting that he's the ton that shape, that from up the top end of the pitch. And, of course, we're heading to... It's going to sound awesome, exactly. And then we're off to Portugal for the game on Sunday. We're at a game in Portugal. It's in the Benfica stadium. What is it? Yeah, it is, which is a magnificent stadium. Absolutely. Yep, that's on Sunday. Thank goodness I had it in front of me. Thank you so much. See you here, you on Friday. Yep. And we'll talk about the big game. We'll have to. Yeah, in Sunday. Absolutely. Thanks so much. We'll be back next week. Thank you very much. We're seeing sports in the somewhere. I'm so excited. I don't know if I get invited, isn't it? They shot us on the elite. So, chest coming out, isn't it? Oh, Tom Jones. Thanks, guys. News is next. We're back tomorrow at five. This is the Good Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Let's go!
