G'day friends, it's Blisterguy and this is episode 1352 of Walk to Walk and Mobile Hearts Turn podcast. And we've got the balance change teasers, teaser thing, you know the circles, the circles they post on social media, I don't know, maybe if you're a sighting pet you don't realize they're in circles. But it's pretty cool. So I expect tomorrow we'll be talking about the actual balance changes but today we can talk about what's been teased, obviously other updates first. I think it's probably important. You can maybe tell them a bit sniffly like oh has it progressed. No, this is the sniffly is completely related to it being incredibly windy yesterday and like you're just stirring up all the pollen and fluff from trees and so I'm having an allergic reaction to that. Oh just realize there's no sidewalk in front of you, they've torn it all up, hmm pedestrians what's your step? That's what I'm doing. I just dropped mongrels at school by the way. So this is completely unrelated to the issues. Like also what happens like we had the windows open because it was a very warm day yesterday and we realized just before it was time to get the kids on that all manner of dust had come in through the windows and pollen was on the bed so we had to like strip off all the sheets and vacuum all that stuff and that just stirred up all the dust on me so no that's why I sound like this. The breathing thing I went to a GPS today she's like okay I think maybe it's time to try a steroid-based medication which took me back to my childhood. I was like oh yeah I did have that stuff with asthma. So far it seems to have worked to treat. Obviously I'm just gonna keep going for another couple of days because it's strong stuff you shouldn't take too much of it just to make sure and also just so I get past this sniffly allergic reaction stuff just to make sure but it seems like hopefully it's worked. Fingers crossed knock on wood. Other than that she's like okay here's a puffer version of the medication if it doesn't work here's prescription for a pill version of the medication if that doesn't work here's a referral to get a CT scan and we'll see how we go and obviously CT scans a pretty serious business so if the puffer is working quite confident about that. Anyway balance changes. I'm also incredibly disorganized. Patrons will notice that I did not post the deck list on time to the patrons. I usually I do it before bed I forgot to post it so I was just scrambling on trying to throw it on my phone just now so patrons are now seeing the deck list that we're gonna play with and obviously one of the time I post this which is generally 12 hours from now obviously everyone else will see it. You hear it but we're playing world-aids bonk shaman has tide pool pupil which we talked about last episode and apparently is gonna get nerfed. What a surprise. I mean I didn't record last episode knowing that it was going to be nerfed. I had been planning to do an episode about how maybe tide pool people should be nerfed. Interestingly after I finished recording the last episode I listened to the vicious syndicate podcast and Zekko was saying much the same and also using the same language he was saying that tide pool people had been seeing the crime and I was like hey it makes it sound like I copied him I promise I hadn't I hadn't listened to that yet but you know comedy is what it is. I say we I mean my whole family right I know I do the podcast on my own but as I'm sure you've seen my daughter is often involved in the reveal videos we do and everything you don't see is the rest of the family you know it still has an impact on them so right teased balance changes there's two facets here couple of nerfs proposed proposed for standard a few for wild as well and a whole bunch of buffs so let's just go through the buffs quickly first because that's the thing that has the most uncertainty and it's like there's also not a lot to talk about with why like when we're talking about buffs I'm crossing the motorway if you can't tell already when we're talking about buffs it really is obvious why like the question is how and even then that's not a very interesting question because like it's pretty clear how you can buff something and the real thing is why but anyway the cards that are going to be buffed apparently are treasure hunter Yudora and maestra mass counter this both the rogue legendaries from perils and paradise so that's pretty cool and you might be like but Rogue is doing really well say yes Rogue is doing really well but if we do know if the type for pupil like maybe Rogue doesn't have much else going for it in the way of new stuff and it's just excavate Rogue so buffing those seems fine furious fouls and mystery egg and fetch all hunter spells make sense hunter hasn't seen a lot of play I've been talking about a hunter deck that I've enjoyed playing a lot and I'll probably play it tomorrow because mystery egg is one of the key cards in the deck so if they're buffing that that may change things right so you know good reason to save that until then it depends what they do with it though like because I saw somebody theorizing that if you make egg cheaper and then you make the amount egg discounts by cheaper like maybe that makes the deck actually worse so that'll be interesting oops apparently we've scrolled all the way back to a different photo this is the one I want all right okay no don't minimize the image there we go furious fouls is interesting that's the one that's like six mana someone a couple of chickens to attack something fetches just like the drawer a million if it's a beast draw a spell cool anyway right cleaver is getting buffed again we already buffed that it'd be interesting to see how they're buffing I can't imagine making it a forecast right cleaver is a good idea anyway also food fight I mean that's a spell I was using in wild in the Odin deck so we're making that better oh no no it's not that's not food fight us that's all you can eat food fight is the that's the weird one that summons something for you summon it for your opponent and then you attack it and summon something for you anyway who knows boom wrench you might remember that from WhizBank's workshop that's the weapon that death rattle something watercolor artist is a major oh I've got a sneeze coming hold on multiple sneezes my goodness now we're into mage watercolor artist that's the for for that draws a frost belt that reduces itself in return oh gosh lab road works we'll be past it in a moment I promise Rayla sand sculptor that's the legendary I think it's the mage tourism pellet I think I think it is yeah and marooned Archmage is that the one that makes the verse value plates turn cheaper I think so DJ Manastorm from WhizBank's workshop I think no from festival legends that's the one that sets the oldest spells in your hand to zero and each time you spell a hand they increase by one place or is it maybe they reduce it to one I know quite remember but that's interesting and CCG that's the demon hunter one from WhizBank's workshop that gives you the mint condition cards from the original outland what's the funny thing about that one is the mint condition metamorphosis that it gives you is actually worse than the metamorphosis and standard like it was originally five minor to engineer a parent to one manor five damage twice and now it's four minor to do that like it was five minor down to four damage at some point and then they buffed it again back to like five damage and also four minor which means the mint condition version you get actually worse than the version since standard anyway that's the buffs it'd be interesting to see how they buff those and clearly what they're trying to do there is make mage hunter and I guess rogue with that type of pupil more playable to see how that goes so they'll be interesting and warrior of course now the nerfs in wild will do wild first apparently the nerfing secret passage wild pore gnoll so those go together and that's not surprising and sorceress apprentice that's an interesting one sources apprentice is already very heavily nerfed it used to be a two mana three two they reduced the cost of your spells by one they nerfed that to be a four mana three two that's a heck of a nerve but it turns out it's still quite easy to make that work so these days all you're doing is you're playing mage you're just playing random spells maybe your quest mage maybe you're not you do all that stuff then you play source of apprentice because for mana it's so much that's just made your spells cost less so if you play buy one get one freeze for example then you get to copy their source of apprentice for two mana because it's one cheaper because now you got two of them play six mana and your spells cost two less it's not hard to generate more mana from that from there you have things like conjured mana biscuit which is the two mana spell that adds a zero mana spell to hand and that zero mana spell refreshes two mana crystals so you can be playing out source of apprentice on turn five refreshing two mana crystals playing buy one get one freeze you've still got one mana left and you've got two of them in play like you'll have a third apprentice in play with either reverberations or buy one get one freeze or whatever very quickly and so next thing you know your spells are all zero mana you can draw through your entire deck and you can kill your opponent somehow like strong strong stuff so clearly source of apprentice getting nerfed again I think people are assuming this is just going to be cannot be reduced by less than one which is probably fair people have been asking this for a very long time with source of apprentice and I think the fact that source of apprentice was nerfed to four to try and prevent having to go to that wording and that was not good enough suggests that's why we're finally going to go for that who knows maybe there's making cost five that'll be hilarious anyway Wipe or gnoll sorry about the sniffing I really am I anyway Wipe or gnoll is a five mana three five and it costs one less for each spell each card you've added to your hand from another class which means you can play twisted pack on turn one and you play Wipe or gnoll for free at some point when it was in standard it was nerfed to six mana and when it came back to why it was reverted are they just going back to six mana maybe who knows secret passage was the one mana used to be hide your hand i guess in the secret passage and then get five cards to replace it to the end of turn and at the end of turn those five cards or whatever's left of them because assumed that you're going to play a bunch of them goes back and then you get your hand back during standard that was nerfed to four cards it's still four cards at this point in wild and it's still incredibly good in wild almost all rogue decks that you play in wild play secret passage with the aggressive pyro decks or their combo decks while will know decks they all want it because one mana to draw four cards he says with their quotes it's incredibly powerful yeah you could do a little bit of shenanigans you'll be like oh like the four cards i'm going to draw can't work with whatever's in my hand so if i have anything my hand i want to play first after play them now and then i can secret passage but when you're reducing wild pawn null to zero mana and arcane giants to zero mana and all that stuff secret passage just showing you more of your deck and it being a bunch of zero and one cost spells is incredibly powerful are they going to make it now only show three cards that would be a lot worse is it gonna cost more mana i wonder if it's cost more mana i don't know but like i should say i don't know so while the creator discord we they show us proposed nerfs and buffs ahead of time and we give feedback i like this nerf i don't like that nerf why is this one happening okay that one makes sense and then when we see this we're like hey they've added some cards to this because they take our feedback and they adjust the list so some of the cards they propose buffing or nerfing aren't on this list anymore like so clearly our argument that no i don't think you should nerf that has some sway so i can't tell you why or how they're buffing secret passage because the proposed nerfs aren't always necessarily what we see so i don't know how they're gonna nerf it anyway those are the those are the wild nerfs now for standard now the obvious one is time for pupil and if we go by the zitty joke tweet making it a one one for one is not going to do anything because the one mana is the whole key especially when it works well with Sonia but mostly just any time you're playing it one mana is a great cost to be playing for something that's going to give you another resource that you know a spell you've played already like type or people's just really strong and is it all of the scenes of the crime so i think we all guess it's going to go to two mana just a matter is it going to be a two mana two one or will it be a two two now or will it be a three two i think a three two or a two three is actually just good enough to play on its own i mean it's not really you don't just play vanilla two threes or three twos but you're not ashamed to play that on turn two if it's not doing anything i think you still would be of type or people just because the value you get out of playing it and discovering a spell you've already played is so high you just feel worse about the fact that you'd be holding this three two for ages if that's what it is so i think even making it a three two you can't convince people just to run it out because it's so powerful you'd have to make it like a three three for two before people just run it out without waiting and that's the whole time where you make any three three for two with no drawback people are just going to run it out on the board and go like i have lots of stats shouldn't have that but do so i know probably a two two i guess but i could see a two one that's a very powerful ability the other card that's getting nerfed is doomkin now i i don't remember i think this is one that was proposed but i think a lot of people in the creative school were happy to see this on it may not be a power outlier i think zacko may have mentioned this it may not be too strong power wise but it is a sentiment outlier my goodness it feels terrible to play against over the last week i've played a lot of standard at legend just for fun playing hunter and one of the things i've found and i've tanked my rank a bit playing a lot of the x for fun because i think you know honestly you should just do that i think uh one of the things that feels particularly bad is just getting doomkin like the the mystery egg hunter has a lot of play something on turn five turn six do a heck of a lot of stuff and then usually what happens at that point is a druid will doomkin you and you're like okay so we're back at turn and the fact that they probably already played some minions and those minions are attacking you it really just adds up to like well i lost now and it feels a lot like i lost because i was put back at turn by doomkin uh lo will be tied in on who gets doomkin twice like i've seen screenshots with someone's like a druid on 11 mana crystals and an opponent's off four you're like uh it's not just that the doomkin ramps them ramps everyone but like putting you back mana it feels terrible like you're working to a point where you get to six manners to do a key thing or seven mana and you just never get there that feels awful and having been on the receiving end i can confirm it did feel awful so i don't know how they're gonna nerf doomkin you could make it more expensive it's a lot less uh it's a lot less effective if it's more expensive i agree i mean somebody will tell you that puppet master dorian or whatever it's called drawing doomkin is the worst experience because then i have two doomkins one which is zero mana uh one only if they're using marron's thing uh one doomkin that costs one and one doomkins are six like and getting set back two mana crystals is worth the fact that those aren't really worth playing like a six mana three four is not worth putting a play other than the fact that it's going to delay what your opponent's doing if your opponent is an aggressive player who's already got minions in play doomkin is not terrific to play but i'm the kind of person who's wanting to get to some mana crystals to pull off flashy fun combo-y stuff and so doomkin just wrecks me and it feels terrible and so whether or not this is a power outlier it's a sentiment outlier it just sucks to get doomkin man it really does and i say that it's on who's doomkin to a lot of people in my time it does not feel very good to be on the other end of it i didn't even feel guilty when i doomkin to people i really should reflect on that perhaps but i don't know make it more expensive making it smaller doesn't do very much i guess it being a three four is okay for your did this used to cost five even gosh can you imagine i don't know i don't remember but uh like making it smaller misses the point i don't think i'm going to feel any better that if somebody played let's just for the sake of argument say a six mana one one doomkin they play a six mana one one doomkin i still feel terrible that i guess i'm not feeling very pressured by the doomkins but it still sucks that the druid is now a lot closer to nr and yogg and and marron while i'm still on four mana kind of stuff but i think i assume they'll just make it more expensive as opposed to making it smaller seven mana doomkin is it too much i mean like the the tension here of course is that one of the things doomkin does is not just take away a mana crystal song but give you one right and like so if you make doomkin ten mana like it's a silly argument because nobody's gonna make a ten mana but even at eight mana right you have to be on eight mana before the mana crystal it stole does nothing right i mean notwithstanding new horizons but like if you were a druid without new horizons of guff and you're on nine mana and you play doomkins like well now i have 10 mana i was going to have 10 mana next to me anyway so you could be an eight mana and so if doomkin costs eight for example then it's going to give you that mana so infrequently so i assume it has to just go to seven so that it doesn't feel so terrible to actually play so that you're actually getting a mana crystal i mean no counters no discard no ld you have to be an old school magic player to understand their reference like it feels like doomkins is the kind of card that i want to say nobody wants to play against and nobody wants one doesn't want to play against it but the problem is is people do like playing with it so so it's a drain something drain noise there it's coming out we'll get past that like people do want to play with it i have wanted to play with it i have enjoyed playing with it i have enjoyed griefing my opponents i am the problem except when it's happening to me then it's clearly something else yeah i know there's a irony in that anyway i assume it goes to seven mana but i do question whether this card should ever have been printed i don't know anyway i doubt i doubt we see it again and i doubt it comes back into standard and in core and he pointed like that but anyway we'll see tomorrow what the actual balance changes end up being uh type or pupil changing will change quite a few decks like i think sauna rogue does not really work if type or pupil cost more than one frost death night with cold feet it is cold feet so kits are in cold case last episode it's cold feet it might still work if type or pupils like a tutu maybe looking at good performing frost night decks uh frost death night decks over the last couple of days they don't even all run cold feet like cold feet is really good against the deck i had been playing so maybe i had an inflated sense of how good it was it's really good against druid but is it actually that good like maybe it's just not that great and type or pupil not even in all lists i've seen lists with cold feet but no type or pupil like maybe it's overblown in that deck but like clearly druid really likes it uh rogue really likes it like there are lots of classes that really like type or pupil and nothing it's too minor is a big nerve uh concierge druid having to pay four for concierge two for type or pupil is probably a bridge too far for them so we'll see how that pans out and of course druid taking another hit in the ramp druid which is clearly better than concierge druid losing doomkin i think is probably an important change as well so we will see how that pans out but more importantly i guess a whole bunch of buffs will that revitalize some architects that we aren't familiar with we don't know we should see tomorrow but anyway it's time for me to unlock my phone i was already unlocked i was looking at stuff and they turned the volume up and opened Hearthstone and play world-aids bonk shaman shaman isn't exactly the top of this things i haven't played paladin is i'm not entirely excited by a lot of paladin stuff there right now i'm sure we'll find something paladin to play soon enough actually i think world-aid again maybe but maybe it was someone else where the future is taking you well to my daughter's school at first but now my way to work uh i think it was world-aid as well i actually had a sweet miracle paladin list in wild maybe i'll try that at some point uh priest is near the top of things i could also try to play over heal priest i have tried to play a bit of over heal priest and later it didn't work very well for me it does work very well for my opponents so i want to try it and i think it's always worth playing a deck that you think is really good for your opponents yourself just to see what makes it not work anyway we're gonna play shaman today uh this one we're basically looking for one drops you know but those one drops if we think they'll survive uh and then at some point we're playing like skirting death with horn of the windlord or the sand art elemental uh just to get lots of wind fury and go face a lot of things here we go okay i think world-aid got like top 500 legion with us it's pretty good very good back button hasn't gone away you know and there it has i have played a few games with this one a little already like i think i had a quest a couple of days we got to play shaman and so the reason i was happy to play this today is i've played the stick a few times kind of enjoyed it actually fire heart surf heart with my shaman portrait against a hunter so i'm assuming the hunter is either secret hunter because that's the best performing hunter out there or the kind of hunter i've been playing we have an opening hand with backstage bouncer and razzle desler and the coin i still don't know that we wanted to do those to the other two cars we have is trusty companion and jam session jam session is nice if this is a secret hunter and they're going to run out some like sneak snakes razzle desler is very slow backstage runs are very slow but they're both quite good at at some point in the game but i think we have to trust in the top of the deck that we'll get those cars and we want them i don't think we can afford to keep jam session and trusty companion even if the the combo of uh trusty companion and jam session or something makes something too big for the hunter to deal with immediately so i think we throw back the jam session and we would keep the trusty companion i think if we had a one drop but we don't and we have lots of those buff skills i think we throw everything back when we're hoping for a nice curve what the hunter keep the hunter kit car number one it's a quest hunter it's not very well presented we got back sigil summoning uh murloc grophin tie four pupil and cactus color see now we have some nice early draws here and like even the cactus cutter might draw us a buff thing oh and we just draw in gorgons warmly perfect so turn when we run out murloc blopin till uh turn to probably gonna play sigil of skydiving uh we play the cactus color but then we're unlikely to get the buff from it so we play cactus color on like four then we probably will get to play a buff on it uh play spell to get it to be a three four so anyway a couple of one months to win one the hunter did nothing obviously they've got uh five cards in hand two mana this is really the key if it's a secret hunter we'll see a secret i'd say here if it's not a secret hunter we'll see messenger buzzard okay so it's not the deck i've been playing and it's probably not secret hunter but it is some kind of hand buff hunter it's not a great deck but messenger buzzard is good so one thing you can do is kill the messenger buzzard this turn to limit the number of things buffs in hand not unreasonable but i think we're just going to play sigil sky diving potentially let them buff an extra card in hand we're just going to get face with both our murlocs as opposed to trading in next turn i dare say we're going to play gorgonsormu so as long as we're going to trade into the messenger buzzard next turn there's going to be an extra minion they get to buff but the secret face damage so they've hero powered on three which is not great for them and uh they trade it into one of my murlocs so they're on 28 i'm on 28 i've just got three one ones to charge i just drew a jam session not terrific when i've got a bunch of one ones that will be good for us at some point i think we just clearly jam gorgonsor along three because gorgonsormu sorry gorgonsormu uh just gives us so many like the the sooner you get the cheese in hand the better it gets now we've got no mana left we have a coin but we're just going face before we could trade one of our minions into the messenger buzzard that prevents the messenger buzzard perhaps trading into gorgonsormu it prevents them getting an extra buff on something at hand but i wanted some face damage we're on 24 they traded into one of our pirates that drew them something that buffed oh what does this thing call a twisted frostwing it's a 4/4 it's usually a 4-3/3 rush death rattle summon a chimera stats equal to this minion's attack so they're going to have a 4/4 win this death rattle they traded into my gorgonsormu they're at 24 i still have three one ones four-man oh goodness me a cookie carefree cookie so we can trade a one-one into uh this thing and we'll get another one cost minion we've still got a coin so we can play cookie and we can play uh jam session i think that's clearly what we do here and we use jam session on the last one one so that we actually do uh get one into this cookie so the first one one trades into the four one what do we get out of it a dirty rat amazing we tried another one one into it and that gives us from cookie just a two two and now we play coin jam session on the last one one that does one damage to everything which you know could be worse we better we trade our 4/4 into then our 4/2 win turn so what do we get out of it we've got a one-two dream boat two-one stone skynamara a two-five dirty rat and a two-one cookie there's a watcher of the sun not forged did not expect that out of the deck and a bovine skeleton down to three mana bovine skeleton is a three-mana three-three death rattle if this has four more attacks somewhere in bovine skeleton so it's been buffed by the message by the sorts of 4/4 so they will get another bovine skeleton when it dies but that one will only be a three-three unless they can somehow buff it again so we got three-four watchers of the sun which i guess gave them a holy spell the problem here of course is that i have a cookie in play still and a bunch of minions i can use to trade which means they just get to upgrade themselves not perfectly we have a typo hunter in hand the typo pupil hand which could give us another jam session i think so that's really gross we're probably going to do that the problem with giving it a jam session is it kills cookie so we'd have to play it on cookie but it does allow us to get extra dose anyway trading our soap and summer into the 4/4 cookie gives us a 4/3 great now we trade our 1/2 into it excellent that gave us a 3/2 we just go i guess face with our dirty rat do we play typo pupil we'll take the jam session we'll play the jam session on cookie that kills my type of people who gives us something else cookie just goes face for five because why not it kills the boba and skeleton making 3/3 boba and skeleton we're just going to play this patches the pilot that i just drew apparently so they still have a 3/3 watcher of the sun and a 3/3 boba and skeleton i have a 2/4 dirty rat we have a 5/4 cookie we have 1/1 patches the pilot a 2/3 what is this thing mounted geode a 4/2 high noon duel list yes right well both players draw a destroy the card that cost less mine probably gets destroyed and then also a line-down partner so they're just played frequency oscillator a big ziliax some form of that second and an inventor's aura the power themselves from the thing made their big secret they're here at patters down 26 all right they can see that they're i can't even see what their ziliax is but i have a much stuff to play including a cookie which is still behind a taunt like the problem with taunts and cookie i didn't really get to describe this very fully oh i'd sit 96 on the reward track uh cookie is the three mana paladin tourist that lets you play sigils by diving cookie says when one of your minions dies uh summon a minion that cost one more than it because i had a taunt that means they have to attack into the taunt for anything else and if they attack into the taunt uh that taunt then dies and it gets upgraded and anytime cookie doesn't die and everybody else gets to die it's really good for the cookie player so when you have a taunt and a bunch of minions in play and you just keep keep trading the million of your turn and they keep replacing themselves the opponent is in a really sticky situation so when i got back to jam session and made cookie into a 5/4 they just made it so much harder for them to deal with i could have played the jam session on the dirty rat but that would have killed cookie and i don't want to die uh trusty companion would have been nice on the cookie as well because trusty companion gives it plus two plus three doesn't damage everything else and then also draws you a minion of that type and so the second milot growth would be nice and so we've already played one growth and we're in a situation there where uh if somehow the hunter manages to stabilize and uh we're you know they're now safe now we have eight eights in hand that summon more eight eights with rush like obviously that's very good for us so if we had a trusty companion got by that on cookie and getting a second milot growth in like we're pretty set for the late game as well so pretty good anyway it was a quick game let's queue up another one because why not i'm sure this deck is often quick i mean maybe that's famous last words right but we should see i believe i'm gonna be late for work tomorrow uh i think the school is having a father's day in the ass so uh mongers did not want me to attend she's embarrassed i'll talk to other parents look she's not wrong uh well she is i wouldn't talk to other parents like uh because they're not into hostile you know what i mean they're not into like all the music i like i don't like talking to other people like that that's going to you go anyway so i'll probably be late later into work tomorrow so we're called obviously all right we have an opening hand opponent is also a shaman we have a milot growth in and a cactus color and a horn of the windlord now hold the windlord cost six and it's a great card but we don't want it the cactus color that's a totally fine two drop like sometimes it feels bad to play on two because then you know you can't play the spell but i think a two two for two that draws you a card also fine uh especially if it could be a buff spell that you can use the following term thanks let me bet it in fact we start with milot growth and perfect i see no reason to throw away the cactus cutter here if we happen to get something better back to play on two then sure we can make a turn with the cactus cutter we got back a pop-up book mmm yeah that could work and a second cactus cutters now i'm way happy playing a cactus cutter or two so milot growth in first we've got a couple onwards what is that shaman opponent i'm guessing they are very similar to us by the way the kind of shaman opponent they probably have the weekly quest to play or kill a lot of pirates they play a shock hopper not a pirate mate i don't want to tell you all right oh we drew a jam session so we could play a cactus cut of this term there's also no reason to we can trade one of our milot growth and uh probably the token the rush token into their shockhopper and then we just play jam session on the other one it'll kill their shockhopper and we just go face with four and we now have a four four in play and they're like what do i do with that i'm overloaded for one next term i still have a pop-up book i can play next turn or just a cactus cutter draw card like i love it so token goes in jam session on the growth in face before good tempo so the reason to trade in the token rather than the growth in is if they have somewhere dancing my minion i get to replay it and i get an extra oh they've played their own growth in on turn two and they're at a lightning bolt they're pointing a lightning bolt created by the shockhopper at my growth in so their token gets to trade them with a lightning bolt it's fine i guess we've got two mountains turn they only have one one play because we're overloaded for one i guess we played one of our cactus cutters we could play a pop-up book but i don't want to spend two mana effectively on a one-mana spell uh i'm just going to play the cactus tape because it's bigger than their minion the spell we drew skirting death now i think i drew this turn before the skirting death uh is a backstage bouncer so if my two two are still there on their turn and they are overloaded for one because of the lightning bolt um i trade into their glove and then just upgrade it to a couple of four five taunts seems pretty solid so they have an eight eight in hand that summons them an eight eight with russian so do i so we have to watch out for that they're hero powering perfect they've got a searing totem totally fine they've traded the glove and into my searing into my cactus cutter so that if i have to trade with their one one then it dies but given i have a backstage bouncer and i just drew a second backstage bouncer we clearly just go face with two backstage bouncers now i have two four fives now they can also do exactly the same thing as me this turn uh if they also have a four uh backstage bouncers they have a totem in play i have a skirting death and i'll definitely use skirting death to check it out etc okay now i don't want to say that etc means exactly one thing but it does lead me a little more towards maybe renal shaman and if they're renal shaman and they have a uh a growth in in hand it's not great for they just traded their one one into my backstage bouncer now we're drawing trusty companion trusty companion on a beast what other beasts can we draw i don't know we have five monitors and i think it's safer just to play the cactus cutter we could get a turn the tide or even better skirting death i do kind of want to play skirting death this turn because reducing the attack of etc to zero it just allows so many better trades for us so let's start with the cactus cutter i'm gonna play in between two backstage outs as you never know that draws a turn the tides not as good as skirting death but it'll do we play turn the tides no we don't i don't need the plus one plus two on the cactus cutter that much so we're going to play skirting death on the etc maxis attack zero my attack four we'll just get the face tag on the etc let me go face before with our points put in them 16 now skirting death is the kind of thing you want to say with horn of the wind lord or sand sculptor elemental to get a lot of inferior damage we don't have either of those in hand so i don't think we're going to save the river and we do have a 20 size that makes it feel better than that or melter mental do it come from etc no duty rate came from etc oh dear so melter mental is a three-eighths taunt for three monitors always frozen dirty rate you know what duty rate is that is duty rated out my girlfriend said i don't get the bell crowner but it's turned six and haven't i didn't play not only that i've just drawn cookie now cookie doesn't work too well here because my minions don't die attacking into theirs but i can't get traded into the cactus cutter i can trade in i turn the tide token and that seems pretty reasonable so we'll do that my opponent has six mile extern they'll need some kind of removal to get through things maybe they have horn of the windlord horn of the windlord and to dirty her out and then into my girlfriend seems solid okay cookie turn the tide first things first let's run the three three into the melter mental what do we get oh we got an oga gang rider it could hit the wrong minion all right we trade our cactus cutter into the uh melter mental they gave us three flair our oga gang rider into the three three yep four i guess we face tank and backstage bouncer which is really rad and then we get to go face to eight and face before putting our opponent down through four not bad so they'll get six mile at this turn horn of the windlord won't save them because they'll take too much damage to face tank and things even if they turn them into three threes so they need some kind of board work on two and six i don't think it happens there we go we got them two quick games hard to say what my opponent is playing there but the melter mental in particular main deck and etc for dirty rad suggest to me that they were playing Reno shaman now you might want to make the argument set playing Reno shaman badly when i have played a melodrofen on turn one you know i have an ad hat now duty rat isn't always going to hit uh the ad of course because i probably have other minions in hand too but it's a risk etc for duty rat what does that tell you what else is in the in the dtc there's all bad stuff i kind of think you want something to fend off an aggressive push like what i was doing uh they just didn't have it now again it was a nice door to get the cookie there notice the size of it was the last game but still being able to cookie and turn the tides so that could trade a two two and a three three into the melter mental like it's pretty solid because at the very least i didn't have three attack on my face that i could take out the rest of the melter mental then it's just taking out the dirty rat it's not bad the fact that i got a rush minion out of the cookie uh turn the tide token just made it even better so my opponent was in trouble dirty rat pulling out nadate you never like to see it when it's you pulling there people talk a lot about duty rat and i haven't recorded an episode in a very long time about duty rat maybe even ever about how to play dirty rat well and i think it dovetails with something else i have been planning to talk about which is the maths of high roles and that's that's a misleading topic because i'm going to make up numbers when talking about high roles because exact numbers they're all over the place and they're unimportant what's important is how we react to high roles and to do that you can just put fake numbers on it and just reassure yourself there's a whole episode on that and i think it dovetails with duty rat so i don't know we'll talk about balance changes tomorrow maybe next week we'll talk about that if i remember
