That time for talk is over. The waiting games have come to an end. For now, football is nigh. That's right. It's gridiron o'clock Sunday, 1 p.m. As you can see live here on our fabulous livestream from beautiful downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. You're new England Patriots after approximately 246 days off to get their shit together. Whoa, take that. I'm coming in hot this morning, heart. That's just how I feel. They get their act together. A new look Patriots with a new executive vice president of player personnel, a new head coach, a new defensive coordinator, a new offensive coordinator, and of course, a new quarterback who was previously a quarterback for the organization traveled to Sensi the queen city. Will they be kings on Sunday as they take on Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, and the Cincinnati Bengals in the opener of the 2024 season and your old pals, Fitzy and Hart are here to preview it off for our predictions and more on the latest and always greatest edition of six rings and football things brought to you by your friends at Odyssey, W E I and 2400 sports. All right, Hart, there's been a little, um, been a little movement this week and I'm not talking about the usual kind of movement we associate with getting excited for football. No, I'm talking about the kind of movement that usually comes with a line that, uh, indicates there's been action and movement in wagering one way or the other. So this game, when lines opened months ago, featuring, of course, Joe Burrow coming back with his trio, his cadre of world class receivers and offensive talent. He, of course, missing half of last season, he'd be on a mission out for vengeance, an MVP candidate. The line opened at nine and a half against the Patriots, whether it was going to be Drake May or as it stands to be Jacobi Bursett. Now earlier this week, because I believe the Jamar Chase issue drove the line down all the way, the Jamar Chase uncertainty drove the line all the way down, um, to, I believe, seven and a half. Now, since Jamar Chase returned to practice, I think it's back up to eight and a half. What do you make of all of that? And do we believe we are going to see one of the best players in the NFL, let alone in this particular game on the field Sunday at, uh, the, uh, newly minted paycore stadium in downtown Cincinnati. So a terrible answer. I have no idea. I know we spoke with, uh, Adam Schefter on the afternoon show. That's literally its name. Don't question it. Go with it. The afternoon show on W E I yesterday. And he was reporting, okay, he's at practice, but how much does he do and all of that? And he's ramped it up a little bit in recent days, but is there still this belief? If he doesn't get a contract, he's not going to play. So there was definitely positive momentum towards Jamar Chase playing. Um, but I think there are some Bengals fans who are going to hold their breath right up until the point they see number one on the field and catching a pass from Joe Barrow. And then I said it to you, there's also the next step is what kind of shape is he in? Is he ready to compete for 40, 50, 60 snaps of an NFL game? If that's necessary, of course, he might be standing in the fourth quarter or third quarter because they're up by a bunch, but whatever. I also love how you said, you know, the line plummeted to seven and a half. So that's big movement considering that who in the hell in their right mind would bet it on a team that is not favored in any of their 17 professional football contest. Just saying the other team was without its best player and still more than a touchdown better than you. Yeah, because they have an MVP candidate under center. They have a better off throw them back to back days. He's the Al Horford of QBs or whatever the hell you want to call it. Um, no, so yeah, I sorry to pull a sentence there that was straight out of the Christian Fourier playbook. Um, no, so yeah, you know, yeah, uh, I Jamar Chase is interesting, but the Bengals need Jamar Chase to beat you. If you recall, last time these two teams lined up on Christmas Eve, T Higgins made the Patriots his personal business, um, with eight catches for 128 yards and a touchdown. Kind of, I don't think he actually did it, but he kind of did the you too small to Jonathan Jones, owning that. Did he too short him? I don't think he did, but he did it in a literal sense, if not the actual celebratory sense. Uh, and then the Bengals held on whatever that game was a weird game. I still think they decided they wanted to go home and see their kids at halftime and they're like, Oh, we're not blowing them out totally. We're kind of in a dogfight here. It's Christmas Eve. I just want to go home. Oh, wait a second. The Patriots are still trying. Oh, yeah, gas is just because you get to drive home and we have to fly home. This isn't fair. Yeah, I would actually personally rather fly home, uh, than drive home considering what a pain in the acid to try to get out of Gillette stadium. Um, now all that being said, um, Pat's did stage a little bit of a comeback in the second half. The Bengals definitely put their foot on the off the gas, which they're not usually want to do. Like they play a full game because of that insane psycho killer drive of Joe Burrow. Yet the Patriots were a ramandre fumble away from winning that football game. Now, that's. I'm either here nor there probably. Exactly. That's a year and three quarters ago. Different quarterback for the Patriots. A lot of the similar players coaches for the Bengals. And that's where this game also gets weird because there is continuity on the Bengals. But sort of a lot, a lack of continuity. Joe Barrow didn't play the end of last season. That's how they end up. He was five and five had the weird start to the year with the calf, then had the weird that we all saw like, did we witness a guy's career end? Because he can't hold a foot. Remember that sideline video where he literally couldn't do the thing he's Yeah. And isn't he the first, isn't he the first quarterback to attempt to come back from this injury? Like something along the lines of, I, you know, don't quote me on this. I'm not a scientist and barely a podcast host, but isn't it something like 50% of all people that suffer this injury, something around that, the half of all people, like they're, they're risked. It's never the same again. Like it's, it's scary. It's scary for a guy who makes his money because this is not a princess bride. He can't just flip the ball to the left side and say, I did not tell you, I am not right handed. I'm left handed. No, no, no, that's not gonna happen. He's never gonna be an elite quarterback if his arm doesn't work properly and his wrist. But you have that. So you have the Joe Barrow question. Then you have the question about Jamal Chase. Is he playing? Is he even T Higgins? Is playing on the franchise tag? I don't know. He's like, Hey, Jamal, you're kind of, I'm supposed to be the one looking for a contract and you're kind of stealing my limelight right now. And I know you're better, but I wanted to put some pressure on them to give me money. He wants to be the him. He wants to be the man, the dog. Yeah, he wants to get paid. I don't know if he wants to be that he's getting paid. He's getting paid like 21 and a half million dollars a year. One year. He wants the big deal. He's seeing these big deals that includes 60, 70, 80 million dollars in guaranteed money for wide receivers. So there's a lot of questions for the Bengals. That being said, all of those questions come from them being a more talented team. And that is without argument. But even, you know, you look at their defense and everybody talks about, and I still don't know the guy's name, Lou and a room. Lou and a room. Oh, he's a defensive coordinator for Ben's gals. Yeah, I wish somebody would just come up with some sort of like nickname, Big Lou. Big Lou. Yeah, but he's on meds too. Yes. Only on wife number two. I they they were not talking about this backup quarterback, John Sewer. I hear he gets the job done. We're getting all the these two teams will fan duel it out. Well, you know, the Patriots were the draft Kings. I hate myself so much. We're talk. But their defense last year was 31st in the NFL. They were a team that gave up a lot of sacks and had a lot of sacks. Even Trey Hendrickson didn't really practice this summer. But if Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard are on, that's a formidable bookend duo to go against a Patriots team that has lots of questions at the tackle position in the offensive line. So we got them tackle issues right there. But up the gut, maybe that's where the Pats are going to try to work more often. City so city so not practicing. So Nick Leber said he's already left guard. They he might be fine enough. Yeah. Yeah. Good. Good enough. Good. enough. I feel good about me to you heard. Yes. You heard on the previous podcast. I said he might be your offensive rookie of the year for the Patriots could be a big deal for them. Is that sad? Yeah, it was very sad. A team that has no quarterback, no wide receivers, no offense. Two years ago, you said the kicker was the second best player in the team. That was also sad. And I wasn't wrong. That kicker was balls. Nick Nick folk. Oh, man. Big the legend of big kick Nick. Now, at least we got someone else. Now you can get all excited about being a sly guy because Joey Sly can be good for 60 on any game. Boom. Yeah, or he could be cut. Boom. I know like that. Oh, good Lord. But this but this P G reader on defense. Yeah. Oh, this game is going to be I think this game is going to be a mess, quite honestly. Anyone who's looking for for everybody, for the people watching it, the people that there be like, could we be in the second quarter and be? Uh, did never expected a zero, zero affair here in Cincinnati. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I kind of feel that way too, because the Bengals could take a while. Now, the one thing I will say is I, you know me. I love Joe Barrow. He's one of my favorite players in the NFL. I love sort of everything about him. And I think if there's anybody that can kind of pull a Tom Brady and say, listen, Jamar, I know you're going to get paid. You're one of the best receivers of the generation. Tea, you're going to get paid. Can we just kind of go out there and maybe play football and win some games? Like, I feel like Joe Barrow is the guy that has that, that it factor, that Genes say qua that it take to do that. Joey Burke. And is he, is he good enough? Is he, does he have the cache to come in and just be like, Hey, everybody, let's all play a little game called shut the F up. I got paid. You'll get paid. I understand our organization is historically and notoriously cheap. And yes, they have been selling TVs that were used in the stadium out of the back of the stadium for $60 a piece, which is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever heard, as opposed to, I don't know, donating them or gifting them to classrooms. I mean, I don't want to seem like a crack up, but there's like 40 inch TV in my mother's house that I got from Gillette Stadium when they replaced TV somewhere. They were like, Hey, we have some TVs we're getting rid of any employee wants them come down to the loading dock and pick it up. You know what I very well might and my mother would appreciate that, you know, because flat screens as they're not nearly as expensive as they used to be. But yeah, anyway, so the Bengals are notoriously cheap. I don't think you're going to see their offense moving along and humming the way it could or likely should at some point this season. They lose Joe Nixon in the off season. He goes to the Texans. Now you replace him with a combination of Zack Moss. And someone I'm hearing a little positive buzz on last year's third round pick, Chase Brown. I think Chase Brown may overtake Zack Moss as the RB one for the Bengals at a certain point. We're also going to have a reunion this weekend. Andy, I know you're very much looking forward to this probably while you went shopping at the big box store yesterday and stocked up on all your favorite foods and bebs because we're having a hang with our old pals Trenton Brown and Michael Gesicki on Sunday as well. No, which is which is why I feel better about the Patriots. Yeah, no, I know. I mean, I would if it weren't for who he is, I would take Trent Brown's talent in a heartbeat right now. But he is who he is. You get what you get and you don't get upset because you did it. But they got some bigons. They got some bigons Trent Brown, Orlando Brown, and then the rookie Mims kid out of Georgia who's dealing with an injury, but they got three tackles that are massive. They did invest in the draft in tackle spot. Amarius Mims is a mountain of humanity, but he's been a little dinged up as well. They lose Jonah Williams in the offseason. In comes old Trent Brown, one year $10 million deal. Andy, should the Bengals look forward to at times disinterested, mercurial, unpredictable kind of powdery weird Trent Brown this year, because that's his resting state. Or is this going to be focused, energized Trent Brown, who on a one year deal realizes, Hey, I might be able to do some other team into a three year deal next year. So why don't I play hard this year and pretend like I care? No, you're going to get the Trent Brown who will give you flashes of greatness and great games and will infuriate you probably more often than not in the totality of the season. I like how he is who he is. He was who he was here. He was who he was in Las Vegas and Oakland or just Oakland, I guess, at the time, he was who he was in San Francisco. That's that's who he is. Big old leopards his size. Don't change their stripes. They just get new tats of them doing funny things with girls on their arms. Yeah, that's pretty much what there's a lot of surface area to get a lot of tattoo on that body. Okay, good question from our old pal Jeff Stenberg watching lives. We record this live the six rings in football things. Patriots Bengals preview week one 2024 when Trent Brown wants to play. He's fantastic. Will playing the pats give him a little motivation? Probably this will probably be one of his good games. Whatever that's four, five, six good games this year. It wouldn't stun me if this is one of his good games against the Patriots. Also, I don't know how great the matchup is or or bad the matchup is for him. You got guys that got plenty to prove on this, the edge of this defensive front, you know, optimistic guys key on white bounce back guys Uche you don't have as Bill Belichick pointed out in one of his many, many media appearances. You don't have Matthew Judon as the centerpiece of the pass rush anymore. So that's again, that's one of the many, many, many questions throughout this game. And this I keep emphasizing the questions that the Bengals face, the questions that the Patriots face. Most teams are facing a litany of questions in week one about, you know, can they live up to their hype? Are they better than their questions? Is this new guy good? Is this coach working? Does this defensive coordinator addition help? I already have a popsicle headache just thinking about all that. And that's the other freaking team. We haven't even talked about the Patriots yet. Like, for example, will there actually be some sort of pass rush that they can generate or scheme up yesterday? I'm starting, I'm using that and then spinning it into the next level of questions. No, I'm not. You know, listen, I'm trying to you just a big old head has big old ears. Try to use them. This big, a lot of beers. Why don't you blow it out? You're a Siciliano hole. By the way, go after yourself. The, but now we flip to the offensive side of the ball with the Patriots. Will it be Nick leverage that starts at left guard? Probably. So now we're going to have the team different iteration or combination of offensive lineman. This is likely not to be the one that they'll play with in week two or three. It's just, it's just a mess. I've often heard with the offensive line, it's best to have as few snaps as possible of guys working in their spots together. It's better to just throw crap at the wall. Yeah. And you know, the first time they line up together is the first time in a game. Yeah, that's it. It's generally the best way to do it. It's like, it's the way Skarnekia always preached and drew it up. Absolutely. Yeah. Nobody wants rep guys. We're going to play line roulette. I'm just going to throw 10 names in a bag. I'll pick five, go to your spot, shut your hole and know your role. And by the way, if he were coaching, I would take that over what they got right now. Because I think he could take hisons and beat urine's and take urine's and beat hisons. Now, let's look at the playmakers or at least the people that'll be trying to make plays when the football is in their hands. What's going on? He's doing a lot. You got a lot going on. I'm ready. It's football season, baby. I started. Where's the drug elite? Where's the football? So when it comes to like the remandres, the percets, the wide receivers. All right, first question, I'll throw your way. Jacobi percet over under 25 and a half passes attempted. Over. Okay. Well, they're chasing. So he's got to. You think so? But what if the Bengals just have the ball like for 41 minutes? No, I think the Bengals will have some big plays and some big scores. So I think you'll be you'll be chasing multiple scores in the second half. So you're probably going to have to throw the ball a little bit. Okay. But a nor an optimal or a successful game script for the Patriots with a team coordinated by Alex van Pelt who has said, I believe yesterday you referred to it on the afternoon show as his hostage video that the Patriots released on Instagram several months back. Appreciate you. Where he said he wanted to. I got to try it every now and again before I switch over to the other station. So I said, you know, you know, running the football is fundamental of scoring in the national football league. So he already kind of spoiler alerted us as to what kind of offense we think he's going to want to run. And then you got guys like new head coach Gerard Ruster. I think Rod Mayo. Excuse me. Okay. L O L G and I'm prickly this morning. Hey, come on. I didn't sleep very much last night either. So then you got you got Mayo saying yesterday that controlling the line of scrimmage is going to be the biggest key for the Patriots having a chance to win this game Sunday. Now, do you see do you see the Patriots dominating or controlling the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball this weekend? The defensive front, I don't discount their ability to potentially control the line of scrimmage. The offensive front, I think they're going to fight an uphill battle. Questions that tackle against good ends, some decent stoutness in the middle of that defense. But again, I can look at their players in depth chart and say one thing, the reality is they gave up a lot of yards on the ground last year, they gave up a lot of yards through the air last year. And it's not last year. But a lot of the talent, the coordinator, the scheme is a carryover. And Van Pelt and Brissette have familiarity with this scheme and with this coordinator and with this talent with this matchup. So they should know what they're doing. Now, whether they can execute it or not, we'll see. But yeah, they they need to run the ball. We know that absolutely need to run the ball to win this game. They need to establish the play action game, the boots, some shot plays. I'm interested. I don't know if you remember, Hunter Henry before you get banged up was talking about, yeah, this offense seems to afford the tight ends, some opportunities to maybe get some chunk plays, make some plays down the field. I would love to see a catch and run Hunter Henry play where he gets a little space 15, 18 yards downfield and maybe can turn that into a 40 yard play. They're going to need some chunk plays. There is no way in hell. They are going to run the ball to the degree of five yards clouded dust. That's good enough. There will need to be off of that chunk plays, which is part of this offense. But I'm just saying they have to execute those. Whether that's Henry, some of those deep overs we saw from Damaria Douglas in in practice, like don't just think Douglas is a slot short guy. There's probably going to be some opportunities for him down the field. We had a question earlier about who the healthy scratches may be at receiver. Is it booty? Is it Baker? I think it's probably Baker who'll be a healthy scratch for Yeah, I wanted to get to that one in the rapid fire questions. But yeah, I would love I have no idea what to expect from this offense. Are we going to see, you know, are we going to see the Patriots go with a traditional ground and pound approach thinking that the Bengals defensive line can be had because they don't have DJ reader anymore. Are they going to try to scheme up and get after Joe Burrow and put some pressure on him to make some throws with that reconstructed wrist with the receivers that were taking time off in the offseason? Or are they going to sort of hang back and try to do the classic Patriots bend but don't break approach on defense? You know, Demarcus Covington obviously learned from many of the best. But now he's making his own shots and calls with a little influence from Mayo as well. I think it's going to be absolutely fascinating. I do. And I am with you Ramondre Stevenson needs to be the offensive MVP. He needs to be the focal point of the offense. They need to get him as many touches. Preferably more successful than not more positive than negative to say the least. I do want to get to a couple questions right here. There we go. Yep. Okay. So Loastox Pat's on Twitter wanted to know who gets the scratch booty or Baker, which you just addressed. I think Baker, I think Baker, I think he probably does get the scratch for that IG live earlier this week. Here we go. Oh, it's more than that. It's the totality. I keep using that word because it's a drawout mail word. It's the totality of the summer. He didn't catch the ball well. He wasn't in great shape. He was running with the threes. I'm not sure how great some of his professionalism was. It's very similar. The Bengals have a young receiver Burton out of Georgia who had a really nice production on the preseason game field but is apparently kind of a immature dank who's been sleeping because he was that Alabama then had to transfer to Georgia. He was another one of these guys like maturity. Yeah, maturity. He's got talent made some plays but you're not a professional wide receiver yet. And I was reading some clips that they kind of expect. He might be a healthy scratch despite making some plays. So there's there's a Trenton or who's the other one? Erwin, I believe is one slot receiver and then Iosavis. Yeah, who's supposed to actually be sneaky good too. Kenny Tazny is chase playing. And if so, do you think gonzo can shut him down? I don't think anyone person that can totally shut Jamar chase down unless he's completely out of shape. And this goes back to what we addressed earlier this week, Andy, too much pressure for for Christian Gonzalez to just step in and be freaking Patrick's retain one or two or any of your favorite shutdown corners. He's not Stefan Gilmore yet. Can we just let the guy establish his own legacy now before we put him in the Hall of Fame? But I mean, that's what he wants to be. That's what he was drafted to be. He's not that yet. And that's not fair to expect that of him to be competitive. OK, you know, we used to talk. There were games when the Malcolm Butler was the number one corner where he would not a number one corner. Well, he was. It is what it is. He was the number one corner. He would struggle with like Antonio Brown. Why? It's tough. Even when you're a number one corner, those guys are really good. They get paid to the rules are kind of slanted in their directions. Those are tough matchups. And the days of winning those and shutting people down are long gone. I need Gonzalez to be competitive. And my other concern is rolling the injury report into this. Jonathan Jones limited in practice yesterday with a hamstring. Not great. Not what I'm looking for. I don't know if that's what because he had kind of an on and off the field all summer thing going on. He's always an ankle or a hammy with this guy. Well, this is a hammy. Yeah. Oh, there was tone to that. There was there. I think I actually I think there was tone. He's a little frustrating. A prickly one this morning is the guy who's supposed to be optimistic and positive. I told you I didn't sleep well last night. But Jonathan Jones spoke with the media. He spoke with the afternoon program. That's its name. Don't question it on WEI on Tuesday. So generally when guys are that vocal and in the locker room and holding session with the media, they're going to play. But I'm just saying a hamstring first game of the season. T Higgins, Jamar Chase, one of your cornerbacks. I'm not sure I love that recipe or that concoction you're putting together in the back end. And Marcus Jones was on and off the field all summer too. He's the one that flies under the radar. I have no idea whether Marcus Jones is a good slot corner or not. Last I saw him. He wasn't all that good at the position. Exactly. Well, as far as the defensive effort, we know one thing as Devon Godcho told us this week. In the locker room, like all those guys trust you, all those guys are running to a brick wall behind you, including myself just having the culture of you playing football, knowing how it's done and then coming out to mentor us each and every day to do the right thing. I just want to say, Andy, we are definitely living in strange days when Bill Belichick officially joins Instagram and reads a hostage video, you know, script that his girlfriend writes, writes for him. And then on the very same day, the man who took over as coach for him in New England appears on one of his own players' podcasts to have flowers sent his way. And then Gerard Mayo says on the Godcho or whatever the Devon Godcho podcast is, he says, having a quarterback that can extend the play is key to winning in the modern NFL. You've got a quarterback that can extend plays. He just happens to be sitting on the sideline this week. It was the same day they released the podcast that Gerard Mayo at the podium in his first midweek press conference of a game week said, you get better at playing football by playing football, except for Drake May, apparently, because he's not going to play football. Yeah, it's a weird world. I'm also sick of podcasts. That's probably something weird to say on a podcast on a pot. No, I've actually feel like I've reached peak podcast, at least like I we put the podcast out, but we have more fun doing this live and engaging with the twisted members of Pat's Nation and our Foxboro faithful than we do just like, Oh, good, we do a podcast. Like, this is one of the fun parts for me. And it's going to be more fun Sunday when we not only have the six rings and football things live post game show on W E E I, but we do our first ever six rings unfiltered live halftime program right here. So no matter how the game is going, ice up son, tune in, get ready and L F G. Alright, I also need to apologize to Patriot Nation. Devon Godshaw said that he would run through a brick wall for for coach Mayo. That brought up a cheap shot I took at the offensive line yesterday on our show that I felt bad about even though I kind of believe in it. My co host Christian Arkand said it's on Gerard Mayo to motivate the offensive line to get those guys to run through a brick wall for him, to which I said, these guys, they'd miss the wall and take a lap just like Los wants me to do, because the name of the pod the podcast is show talk shot and Godshaw shot talk show talk. All right, jeez. It's called one podcast too many too many. Maybe that was the Brian Hoyer, David Andrews podcast that was announced this week. Oh, yeah, by the way, what's that quick snaps? Yeah, not quick slants. Did it? I mean, no disrespect, but a backup quarterback in a center. That's your like a previous player and a current player dissecting the game. I mean, we just we podcasts. There's too many people in the world and there's too many podcasts. That's the simple reality. Thanos need to do it again. And podcasts need to be part of it. Boom. Yeah, boom gone. Can you imagine if there was a Thanos podcast snap? That would be amazing. Bye. Yeah. Now we'd survive. No, people need a sweet. Absolutely. Are you kidding? All right, enough. Let's dispense with the pleasantries, the slap and tickle and the Sunday stuttering. Let's just get right down to it. One o'clock, pay course to 80 and Patriots at Bengals over under 40 and a half. As of right now on the sports books, the Bengals are favored by eight and a half points. Andy, give me your prediction for the game as well as a star or player. Oh, game. So seeing as I said that they could lose every game they play this year, I'm going to pick them to lose the first game they play this year, I would lay the points with the Bengals. I think they can f around f around and still find out enough to win by more than eight and a half points. I don't there's they have questions, but they have answers to those questions that are really good, even if they're not at their best. So, and I just you know, I believe the Patriots are sort of a work in progress where the progress has been somewhat slow over being very, you're being very kind. See, he is being it's nice. I'm trying. I'm packaging it lipstick, pig meat. So, I just I got to take the Bengals. I probably would take the under quite honestly, because score maybe in mind, I am thinking something like 28 to six or something like that. I think the Bengals are going to score some points and I don't think the Patriots are going to score very many points. You know, Patriots need big plays to score in my opinion. No, no doubt. They'll need at least one score on kicking game defense. They need, you know, the Marcus Jones special kind of thing all in one game. The old MJS. Who do you have for an MVP on the game as well? I'm going to say Joe Barrow puts to bed. Oh, you mean just game MVP? Not a Patriots. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I'm going to say Joe Barrow puts the questions to bed. I think he's talked the talk this off season. I think he comes out and walks the walk and for him, even though they're a bad team, he probably wants to he's probably heard the Patriots defense is good. Oh, they're a top 10 defense. Mina Kimes thinks they're a top five defense and all this hype about the Patriots defense probably gives Joe Barrow some motivation. Okay. I can show people something against a supposedly good defense right out the gates, even with the Pete Davidson slash Eminem haircut and die job that Joe Burroughs going with now. I love that or anything. Actually, I think it looks kind of awesome as well. I love Joe Burrough. I love Joe Burrough. I've had it for a cancer patient too. Oh, he's I think he's I think he's a good dude. I think he's a great dude on all levels talent, leadership, normalcy demeanor. Yeah. He was at one fashion thing that he looked ridiculous when he went to Europe or Paris where he was fine. Brady had long runs. Our run stuffing defensive tackle just looked like I don't even know what he looked like in that podcast with the locker room. I call those guys trust you. All those guys are running running to a brick wall behind you included. Okay. Don't you think somewhere red Smurllis just rolled over in his grave? He's like, he's got like an aviator's cap on with glasses and an ascot. And I guarantee you that ascot costs more than either of our closets and possibly both combined. Probably. And didn't a nose tackle used to be kind of a gritty workman like, like Smurllis and Ted Washington are respectively just like gnawing on raw meat on the bone right now. It's ridiculous, but okay. Okay. So 28 to six final score. Joe Burroughs, the MVP of the game. All right. Because I'm the one crazy enough, the only one at the station to say that I thought the Patriots could hang in this game would be able to cover and possibly if they were going to pull off one wild, holy smokes. This is the kind of fuel that helps the fires of overreaction Monday rage. I may as well just own it right now. So either a y'all can victory lap all over me on the six rings post game show Sunday and then forget about me by the time you go to the frequency modulated radio Monday, Andy, or I'll get to say, ah, who was there first? I told you so. So the doing of Patriots will not score an offensive touchdown on Sunday. They'll get close, but they won't. However, they will get a defensive touchdown from my pick of MVP on the day. Jubreel peppers, the shocker, the upset of the season. Your Patriots 19, the Bengal 17, player of the game, Jubreel peppers. It's an under it's a cover. Don't take it to the bank because I do not want to be responsible for many of you people needing to take out a HELOC or a second mortgage on Monday because you trusted old Uncle Fitzy. But hey, I got to own my spot. You said I got to steer back into my lane of Patriots positivity. Well, there I am. Now you know, and so it goes. Anything else you want to add before we throw to my little chat with our friends on it's always game day in Cincinnati where we find out exactly what the good people of Bengals nation are thinking? This is a cross promotion, but we had some breaking news recently unveiled on our website about the Boston Celtics, according to a morning show co-host Courtney Cox, a source that she trusts implicitly. The bidding for the Boston Celtics, who are up for sale, as everybody knows, is down to three groups. And the three finalists are apparently in no particular order, Jeff Bezos and his group, Sam Kennedy and group, which is Fenway sports group and win casinos and resorts. Wow. No kiss. So Pagliuca and company out. This is according to our Courtney Cox and a source. So the wind can I also find it interesting that when took a bath, by the way, on wind bet, just FYI, some of the sports books that have opened and shuttered, that one didn't do very well. Well, you know, you can't win them all. Well, you get the synergy with the on or down the street and okay, that makes sense. Number two, you said Sam Kennedy. Sam Kennedy and group is the way it was apparently listed somewhere and Courtney Cox is like, well, that's that's Fenway sports group, but that's an interesting way to list it. Yeah. And then the Jeff Bezos group and there had been reports both ways that Bezos was in, Bezos was out, you know, Amazon. I think Bezos gets it. I think he gets it. I don't think it just becomes a portfolio piece. I think it becomes a point of pride for him. He doesn't worry about second and third aprons. He shells out big money. I think he'd probably be an excellent owner in all those like Celtic pride. What could possibly mean more? Well, if he runs the cell, if he gets him and then he runs the Celtics, the way he ran Amazon, he would be the perfect owner because for years, and I don't know if this is still true, Amazon didn't make money. It broke even because everything that they made was reinvested into the company to grow it into other businesses. Didn't it take over 20 years for them to turn a profit? Well, but by choice, he could have turned a profit much earlier had he just said, no, this is what we're going to do. We're going to skate this lane. We're successful in it, but he kept growing and growing and growing and all money that came in basically went back into the company. And isn't that how you want your sports team run? If you get it in, just put it right back into the organization. Sure would. I think that would be I'm going to say right now, I hope Bezos buys the Celtics. I do. I actually don't hate. I mean, the Fenway sports group one is probably the least appetizing locally just because of the way they've managed the Red Sox of late, and that would be a bit of a concern. So they'd probably be third. But yeah, Bezos win. They're both seem like they're into spending money. So yeah, and hey, it would make a lot of sense for Bezos to buy the to buy the Celtics because most of the Celtics players are in their prime. Terrible. I was going to say it's a win-win situation. All right. So we have each have one shitty dad joke on the way out the door. Fantastic. All right. That'll do right now for our preview and prediction. Of course, I have the Patriots winning 19 17 and he has the Bengals 28 to six. We will review and recap all of this on the six rings post game show Sunday and don't miss our six rings unfiltered live halftime show right here on the Fitzy GFI and WEI socials. Nick Fitzy Stevens joins us talk a little Cincinnati Bengals and new England Patriots week one match up make sure you check out his podcast six rings and football things alongside Andy Hart. Nick how you doing? I am doing fabulously thank you guys Lindsey Mike it is great to be here on the podcast as well my football team not so much but you know what that's okay because we are currently paying the price from one of the most unheralded unimaginable double dynastic runs in sports history and you know every now and again you know like one of my buddies mom said like there are no free lunches in this life well we had a pretty damn good lunch that extended into a dinner and a nightcap and then an overnight and then in a hell of a brunch and now you know the rebuild is underway so my motto Lindsey steer into it just own it we're not very good now it's going to take a while to rebuild the empire and that's okay but you guys hey maybe you guys are back this year I love the Bengals and you know what you talk about League One and I will just say this over the last few years the Cincinnati Bengals they've started out slow obviously first full training camp for Joe Burrell he's had just crazy ones that he's had to deal with just coming back from injuries COVID year all that fun stuff and he finally got a full one in but I think of Week One and you look at this opponent with the New England Patriots it's one you can't overlook on both sides of the ball and when you look at this team and obviously first time head coach Bill Belichick is gone they decide not to go with Drake May and Week One what do you think offensively with this Patriots offense what are you looking forward to and really for me if I were to do anything against the Cincinnati Bengals defense and things that they've struggled with is probably focus on rounding the ball okay what am I looking forward to on Sunday waking up because that's always a great way to start the day the end of the game the ice cold beer I'll have when I finish the post game show the six rings post game show live on WEIFM and most of all what am I looking forward to what am I hoping for overall from the Patriots I'm hoping that we see a team because we've seen every website that covers sports and football 33rd team pro football talk NFL dot com ESPN dot com etc etc all come out with their playoff predictions their division winners their wild card teams not a single publication across the country has given the Patriots a snowball's chance in hell of making the postseason or being anything more than one of the three to five worst teams in the league now there's a very good chance that come next April Roger Goodell will be saying we're the first picker in the 2025 NFL draft the 91 Patriots do blank there's probably a good chance that's gonna happen and that's fine but so long as the Patriots this season figure out three things one who wants to be a fighter on this team who wants to be a part of the solution not the problem going forward be do they have their quarterback just like you guys figured out years ago with Joe burrow and see or three depending on which way you guys want to go just like the same way you guys you know picked up some weapons and develop talent around Joe burrow if the Patriots can find a couple receivers tough it out and shows the the pride and poise of New England football and we can figure out if Drake made the quarterback that'll make for a good season and as far as Sunday goes I the you know the there's a very good chance the Bengals maybe Joe burrow and I know the wrist is a big concern I hate thinking that one of my favorite players that doesn't wear a Pats uniform is dinged up and you know Jamar Chase it will he or won't he is he going to sign won't they well Mike Brown finally off from the money he deserves T Higgins does he play pissed off because he wants to get that contract or is he going to mail it in this season I would love everyone wants to see the Bengals succeed but I think Sunday a best case scenario for Pats fans is the Patriots punch through the earth drag the Bengals down to hell with them turn it into a rock fight and you're looking at like 2016 23 17 type of like near the under kind of like oh that was a that was a very physical game wow glad you know Bengals fans would say like glad we escaped that one with a win yeah speaking of things that are similar between the Patriots and those early Joe burrow Bengals this offensive line on paper kind of looks a little bit like a disaster at least our tackle yeah right oh I've built sand castles at the beach on Cape Cod that have greater integrity than this Patriots offensive line come on now yeah listen yeah listen you know I know you all don't have to try to introduce that queen city charm to me we can be completely yeah we have the Enron debacle of pay of offensive lines like it's bad well when I saw the dairy and low at left tackles like I feel like that might be a lord of the rings character right we could play we could play an entire game called like middle earth character or Patriots offensive but it feels like the way the Patriots make this competitive is what you said bring it to a rock fight they have to run the ball remind us even since a good back you want to list like the good players on the Patriots that's one they're better players and Michael and Wayne who's a good offensive lineman despite the sand you know the rest of them not people he's a he's a big he's a big boy for sure yeah do you think there's a chance that are these guys you know do they show up and can they move bingles defensive line around a little bit maybe create some running lanes or do you not have a lot of hope for that in the run game I do because I think they have enough size and strength uh David Andrews he's he's getting up there but he still knows that he's a crafty veteran good center one of the better centers in the league the rookie right guard who they took on the fourth round laden Robinson out of uh Texas A&M they've taught some of the guys on the offensive line and training camp said like they think he's the strongest player on the team they've talked about like you know there's there's strong and there's laden Robinson strong he's gonna make mistakes he's gonna get whistled for penalties because he's a rookie and they're all learning together on the fly the tackle situation is bad it's like it's we're just gonna be completely honest like we're a Defcon one with the tackles right now on when it was good but he might be playing out of position uh and the left tackle is a disaster like last year the Patriots picked up an old Bengals cast off Riley reef and threw him into the volume play that we actually nicknamed on the six rings podcast the hobo rumble like 10 stiff center one of them is going to leave with the right tackle job turns out nobody was good enough and it was a problem all year now they're doing the same thing on the left left tackle position which is a surprise that the Patriots acknowledged they needed playmakers they acknowledged that they probably weren't going to be very good this year they acknowledged they needed a quarterback and they acknowledged they needed a tone change fresh coat of paint and a head coat a new head coach and a voice but they haven't addressed the left tackle issue whereas Cincinnati you know you got burrow burrows leg all tore up you know his rookie year comes back stronger than ever have tried to figure out the line and I feel like this is the year Cincinnati gets the line figure you got our old pal Trent Brown at right tackle where he likes playing and you may get the better Trent Brown this year because he's probably looking at this one year 10 million dollar deal with you all as a chance to secure or dupe someone into giving him one final big contract somewhere else I love Orlando Brown I think it's solid left tackle and this kid that you guys drafted from I think Georgia Amarius Mims I know he's dinged up right now but like that dude can do two things block the sun and people and like eventually this is all gonna come together and the line is gonna be a strength for you guys and I'm I'm I'm envy I'm envious of it right now I mean hell I spent way too much time this offseason pining for your old pal Jonah Williams to come to Fox bro they didn't even give him a sniffer or whiff look we've been talking about offensive line in Cincinnati for about a decade right now so we know how how it really feels and you know just kind of flipping to the Bengals offensive line I know you mentioned Trent Brown and you're obviously familiar with his play and I know how a lot of people feel about Trent Brown and you know work ethic him out there can he stay healthy what are you going to get from him will they have to play Amarius at one point what can Trent Brown offer on this offensive line compared to what they had in Jonah Williams last year when motivated when focused and when not being a moody mercurial Gen Z type Trent Brown is a force of nature on the 2018 Patriots offensive line the last time that they started five guys sorry to make everybody hungry I'm starving but when they started the same five guys all season long they were able to pivot from the gameplay past-centric offense to a power run game led by Trent Brown Joe Tunney who ultimately signed a big deal with Kansas City and they they bullied their way to a Super Bowl championship when Trent Brown is motivated and focused and healthy he's a dominant force a couple years ago I remember in the game where Brian Hoyer had to start from Mac Jones because Mac Jones rolled his ankle against the Ravens and then Brian Hoyer got crushed by I was his name Isaiah Nguyen god what a waste of a draft pick that guy was back in 2018 he got pancakes and Bailey Zappie came in the game was the first game Trent Brown just decided like hey I know what I'm gonna do we're gonna win this effing football game and he just just kept shoving two three guys out of the way at a time he was getting up and flexing over people when you get that kind of Trent Brown watch out like no one's getting past many people aren't getting past him and when you run the ball his way there's gonna be a clear path for you like a police escort or something like that but when he's tuned out or doesn't care he's a liability yeah that's definitely gonna be something to wash I want to stay with the Bengals offense and then focus on the Patriots secondary right now Jamar Chase it really is leaning towards he is going to play for the Cincinnati Bengals after two practices they'll have one more walkthrough on Friday contact extension to be determined T Higgins he was on the injury report limited with a hamstring injury not supposed to be an issue but when you think about these Bengals wide receivers Jamar's out there T's out there Yoshi maybe as wide receiver number three against the Patriots secondary what do you think about that matchup you know this is going to be this will be a very telling season for the Patriots secondary and I think it's a great first matchup you know they know all the tricks in the book and it's a very small book from Old Pal Mike Kessicki at tight end obviously Jamar Chase top five receiver and borderline uncoverable and T Higgins has has come to Foxborough and eaten Patriots cornerbacks lunches before like in the first half of that December to a Christmas Eve game in 2022 as well where he just devoured John Jones and was unstoppable and then it feels like the Bengals decided at halftime like times is plain leave I want to get home in time for I got presents to rap I got nog to chug and then let the Pats come all the way back and almost win that game but it's I think actually it could be your secondary receivers that could pose a problem because you've got the was it I see this kid Yosee Vash Yosee Vash okay Yoshi yeah he's the one that's been turning heads and he's looked terrific in the preseason as well we have our we have J bond Baker you guys have Trey Burton like wow you're super talented if you can quit being such jackass maybe you could focus your efforts on not you know getting into trouble off the field and producing points and forward progress and first downs on the field that would be great and you got the uh with the Erwin right yeah Trina Erwin yeah Trina Erwin like there's a lot of like sure-handed sneaky guys on there who thrive in a role where if all the coverage and the double teams and the safeties are rolling over to take care of T Higgins and Jamar Chase then these guys can feed and hand-peck you to death and I you know and Joe Burton excuse me Joe burrow loves loves that because he's just so accurate and he's so calculating he's jot to me he's like John Wick the quarterback it's like someone killed his dog years ago and he just has a bloodlust for whoever he plays in an emotionally like docile state which is why he's my favorite player that doesn't wear a patch uniform uh we have a bunch of really nimble uh shorter corners and Marcus Jones John Jones um and then there's a Christian Gonzales kid and this is going to be a huge year for him because he played so well in the three and a quarter games he played last year coming out of the first round up University of Oregon people have already anointed him the next step on Gilmore like but I have to keep trying to remind people on the air and on our podcast like folks this is an extended rookie season for him Devin McCordy the three-time Super Bowl champion safety joined us on the pod recently and said you have to look at this season as his rookie year like that was just a taste that was a snippet he still needs to get his feet wet he's got to go get burned by some of these guys he's gonna have some bad games so everyone needs to not ready him for a bronze bust in a yellow jacket and I think actually having to start the season out with a Jamar Chase who's playing himself into shape or a focused motivated T Higgins would be great for Christian Gonzales in the past secondary love Christian Gonzales in that draft I had a good I had the reaction that was Vikings had when Jalen Rager went over Justin Jefferson when I saw manual Forbes go over Christian he's also I couldn't believe they did that I couldn't I was like manual Forbes good the guy's 160 pounds soaking wet with two phone books in his pocket like he is so slight he can disappear in the freezer between two thoughts and they'd like like they gifted that's gonna be a pick I think that the commanders will regret for a while but now we get to watch you know Pat's win that extra game on Christmas Eve last year takes them out of the running for the second pick the Jaden Daniels Drake May one is going to be a fascinating one first to watch over the next couple years I wanted to ask you guys you know in liking the Bengals and like them being one of the teams that I really enjoy and kind of cheer for since my roommate at college was from Cincinnati and I've been to the Queen City a number of times and I love it dearly I know last year the safety position was a huge problem for because you guys lost your two starting safeties now what you bring in Geno Stone from Baltimore and von Bell is is that being addressed is it better than what you had last year where's the Bengals secondary yet 100 percent better than last year I mean von Bell was one of the two guys that left so he's been able to slide right back in yeah and yeah Geno Stone I don't think he's a Jesse Bates level player but I do think that he looks like he always knows where he's supposed to be you don't get 11 interceptions by being out of position so some of his luck tips over throws etc but you know he's got to be in position to make those plays so I think he's a smart player that puts himself in the right position and the main thing that defensive corner is talked a lot about is that these guys communicate they're veterans and I was a big issue that they had with the young guys was they weren't communicating in the same way there were linebackers and corners didn't know when things are getting passed off for them or if they're getting picked up so that should be a benefit but hey all that is when it hits the field I think that's when we'll really see if it's going to be an improvement but I think it's a pretty good bet to say it'll at least be better yeah and as far as like other elements or points of emphasis and interest with the Bengals that I think we that Pat's fans want to know about one I know you guys lose DJ reader in the offseason huge huge huge like pillar building block that's that's our bar more if you will now he leaves gets paid bar more force on medical leave now on the non football injury list with the blood clot issue has anyone short that up for him and then also Lindsay I don't know if you can speak to like the run game Zach Moss for mixing feels like going from you know like premium brand to store brand of like an item but I keep hearing good things about this Chase Brown guy yeah when you look at the run game right now I think a lot of Bengals fan just overall I know they put the depth chart out even Zach Taylor's like don't look into that we'll see what's out there when it comes to the running background but I think it's still going to be maybe a 60/40 split we'll see how it works maybe Zach Moss gets the the first start then you have Chase Brown out there different opportunities what they're really looking for in their run game was to get explosive that is something that they struggled with which on the extent he was wonderful and since now he did a lot of great things but it was something that you really didn't see with this offense last year Joe Burrell said it in his first press conference going into the offseason we need to get faster and explosive in the run game and that's just something to balance out this offense they're obviously always going to be a pass first team but they need to run the ball you have to run the ball in the NFL and they're really hoping to get that out of Chase Brown and Zach Moss but we really didn't get to see that in pre-season with the both of them on the field at the same time so that's really to be determined on what that's going to look like in week one or even early parts of the season when it comes to the run game and Mike if you want to add any more with the run game no but I can add to the other part I don't think they replaced DJ Reader to be honest like I don't think they found a body type that's similar other than their third round pick that most people are saying was a reach on and he's on short-term I-R anyway so that's why I'm saying it's not impossible that the Patriots turn this into a rock fight if they can run the ball and you're confident that this offensive line at least can run block I think that's the entire path because if I'm looking at the Bengals I'm getting heavy and trying to run the ball because you don't you were the third worst run defense in the league last year and you lost your best run defender let's let's see if they can do it so they added some guys but when you talk about Sheldon Rankin Jett you know that's more of a pass rush specialist you talk about Chris Jenkins good run defender in college but he's a rookie so and he's 300 pounds versus 330 pounds so is he gonna take double teams the same way he didn't in the preseason so we will see on that front because that is my main concern with the with the team yeah to me if Jacobi Brissette who's starting in front of May because I think the Patriots don't want to Drake May definitely represents the more interesting option the more exotic option the more hopeful option and the more dynamic option because we saw our main goals we saw uh accurate passes we saw uh a quick ability to escape the pocket both uh to the left to the right and then up the gut as well like there were flashes of why Pete why the Patriots were so high on him and they passed up on the very generous offer that the Giants offered to try to trade up to three because Dave Bull thought he saw Brian Day Bull thought he saw Josh Allen 2.0 and could get out from underneath the stink cloud that is Daniel Jones down with the Giants um but I think they're taking the slow cautious approach which is what Elliot Wolf and his dad did in Green Bay so they're imbuing a little bit of that so he can watch and learn the game and also not get car wrecked or pancaked early on as they try to forge a line if Jacobi Brissette throws 24 times or fewer in this game that means the Patriots run game and their will to fight nasty is working and we'll have a close game a rock fight if he's slinging at 30 times or more congratulations and I hope you guys want to fan kings or draft duel and gut yourselves that bangles in the over parlay because you're going to be feeding Sunday night yeah I agree with Mike though I mean the the Patriots cater victory when you look right now it is just running the ball keeping the bangles offense on the sideline and and that that could help them they struggle with starting off fast and week one and week two we've noticed it in the last four to five years so we'll see what that looks like even though Joe Burl was able to get a full training camp in so when I look at this game I know a lot of people are like oh Cincinnati they're gonna take it no problem you can't overlook the new England Patriots and um that's just one way that I think that they can take advantage you know I gotta tell you honestly um this has been a ton of fun and it's great getting some insight and perspective on how you guys feel about our team and and where the bangles sit right now both in terms of the matchup on Sunday and all season long because bangles have one of the five easiest schedules or so I've seen from more and sharp football and usually those teams are the ones that sneak their way back into the playoffs I think the bangles will be a wild card team as well um and if they're not don't hold me to it come on it's just a podcast people um but it's also nice like there's just been so much negativity surrounding the Patriots with Belichick leaving and Mayo coming in and what are the crafts doing and why didn't they keep jude on and why didn't they get a receiver or trade for I yoke and a million different things but just to hear there's still a little bit of that mystique or the respect or that Patriots that Super Bowl championship factor that in in your mindset like this has been like a like a refreshing trip to the spa for me you guys so I just want to thank you all well we need a prediction from you Mike and I'll give one later in the podcast but what do you think is going to happen okay I was foolish enough on our preview portion on six rings to say just to be the guy that I can either be held held to it or or mocked for it I said Patriots 19 bangles 17 that was if your marchets doesn't play if he does you know bangles win by six I agree with the low scoring it's going to be a low offensive scoring type of game just that's something right Mike wants to see it Mike wants burnt shadows out of the Patriots left on pit this the field at Paycore Stadium Sunday you'll have your blood don't you worry it could be it starts slow on paper I see the way it could happen but man in terms of my watchability I'm hoping that's per sets throwing that ball 40 times yeah well it's great it's great to have football back and I do hope you guys have a a really good season because Joe burrow is one of the best players and just like you know the league is always fun when the stars succeed and you know I enjoy watching the bangles a whole lot more than the ravens and the I would nothing tickles my football fancy like watching Joe burrow beat Patrick Mahomes so I hope it's a close one Sunday I would love for my team to pull up and maybe that motivates burrow to then go on like a revenge tour and blazes way through the league but we'll see hopefully hopefully Sunday is a good one that we all have a chance to pod and talk about for a while and it's an interesting entertaining start to what's a great season NFL wise Nick Fitzy Stevens where can football fans find you and your work I
