"This podcast is part of the Sports Social Podcast Network." Hello, welcome to Talking Cop. It's finished at Old Trafford, the famous Manchester United, nil, the much better Liverpool. Three, Gary Neville is crying, he's trying to find excuses. And all at all, Brit was on board in second gear. I'm joined by my usual friends, Ashley and Kev. Ashley, it's over you. I don't feel about that, pretty routine. I don't think my heart rate has ever been so low during Liverpool Manchester United game. Like, I feel great. Like, that was so routine and so controlled and so much. We wanted the emotion to come out of it, and that's how it felt. It felt like it was business as usual. And another clean sheet, which is absolutely fantastic. So I am very happy about the results. What about you guys? Kev, how you feel about that? All you saw is I keep a clean sheet of three games. It's nice and clean. We should do this more often, keeping clean sheets. It makes it easier, doesn't it? It makes these shows a hell of a lot easier, doesn't it? I mean, look, at the end of the day, delighted by the result. Performance was excellent. It was a routine away performance against the side who were mid-table last season. You go there, you do your job. You make it hard for them. Don't gift them anything. And you kill the crowd. And when you get your chances, you take your chances. And, you know, it's ingrained in us that it's matched to United. It's the rivalry. And it still is the biggest game in British football. It's one of the biggest games in world football. No matter where the clubs are, no matter what position and to be able to clubs are in. But in every aspect of that, that was ruthless. And it could have been a lot worse for Manchester United. Oh, no, delighted. Delighted into this break. Three wins, three clean sheets. Can I have some more than that? New manager, betting in his tactics, betting in his way of playing. One more, do you want? Exactly, yeah. Oh, let's start the starting line up to then we'll sort of talk it through. So it turns a little pull. It's the exact same 11, exact same squad as Brentford. You know, no key answer, which, I'll be honest, the manager sort of hints it. That will probably be the case. But you look at that, you know, it's a decent bench. You know, there's options on there. And you think, you know, Harvey Elliott's not had a looking yet. But, you know, that's something to bring on in a couple of weeks. Then you've got Joe's a case to come back after the international break. So from your perspective, any surprises? Or is it pretty much what you expected? For me, it was exactly the 11 that you expect. We got the news pretty much that Jones was probably not going to be available. So it was as is. There's no need to change it. It's not as if you're playing midweek games at the moment. So I think that's as good as good at 11 as we can put out at the minute. And it will evolve over the season for sure. But can I argue with what he put out nowhere? Yeah. And actually, I mean, from a manual item perspective, I think they made three changes. They brought in Marcus to look for McGuire. Got actually came in for Amanda and Xerptie came in to start as well. So, you know, I was probably saying from a manual item point of view. There is a little bit of an artist that they've got about their injuries, which I feel hard to go boo-hoo about with who they bought and everything like that. But that's still a strong 11, you know, that back four, three that back three that back four plus the keeper is what he's bought. You know, yeah. And looks looks those at his players now. So we can't, you know, we can't keep pushing the narrative. Oh, it's not all of his team. A lot of that is his players now, and he's just not getting the tune up. Yeah, I mean, I if they want to go with the narrative that they've got a lot of new players who haven't had time to bet in, I think I can get on board with that. But, you know, I think they spent roughly around $270 million on new players across the entire summer. So it's not like they're short of options. I do think that getting Ugarate into that team as soon as possible is, I mean, that's going to be pivotal for them, you know. But in general, I don't know, I don't stand for any of like the sob stories that come after this kind of a game. Like they had a bad game, own it and move on. And stop trying to find excuses. Exactly, exactly. So, I mean, if we go over the first 10 minutes, you probably start, that was probably their best spell as in. They had a lot of the ball. They're really creating sort of out-and-out chances for Alison, but Kev, what are quite like, which we didn't, which unfortunately, we saw a lot of the last couple of years, is no gifts, no silly goals, no silly back passes. And we still went, we tried to play on football from the back, but it's rest of the 10 minutes. If you need to be set for football, then you're going to be right. I have to be right for you. Well, Mike has gone a bit, you sound like you're under the water there. Oh, well, let me fix that while you're doing that. No, look, first 10 minutes of any away game is, you know, quite in the crowd, don't do anything stupid. Don't get dragged into something that you don't want to get dragged into. And, you know, we had to sit in for a bit. You know, they probably had the better of the first quite 10 minutes. And once we got our foot on the ball and started playing, there was things about the first half that I really loved. They were really, I said it in our WhatsApp group. Really simple things that we all, that we seem to be doing a lot of now. Ball go back to Virgil, Virgil put his foot on the ball. He'll wait for a forward to come to him and just lay it out. He'll make him run those extra couple yards. And we'll just pay it out and it's easy. They tried to box off the midfield, you know, trying to stop the ball into grabbing Virgil McAllister, but they couldn't keep it up. They weren't disciplined enough. And once we started to pick holes in that, the rest of it pretty much flowed. But I honestly looked at the game as a whole. And someone said it in the chat area, we never got out of third gear. We haven't been pushed in any of the games that we've played so far. And I thought that today would be the stippest test. We haven't been pushed in any of them. And that might take conceded, going behind, coming under real pressure, you know. And I'm sure that that will come through the season. But I was like, Ashley, I did not, I watched that with my feet up. And then I just sat back and just enjoyed it, because I never really felt threatened in the first half. And I thought, we're going to cut these, we're going to cut through these, we're getting through them. After the first 10 minutes, we were getting through their midfield really easily, you know, too easily from their point of view. But for us, it didn't take much. It was a little bit of movement. And the passing patterns just flowed. And it looked like they've been playing this style for a lot longer than three to four weeks. You know, because that's all they've been doing this together for. You know, you can imagine how good this is going to look in three to four months. You know, when they've all started playing it and we're getting into when it becomes muscle memory. Because when it becomes muscle, you saw the clap of the press, when the press was at its absolute peak, when it was at its absolute best, it was muscle memory. Carol didn't think they just went. And the passing patterns will be exactly the same. It was, we saw bits and bobs of it today, little bits. We saw little glimpses of how good it could be. But yeah, you know, cut through the first 10 minutes. And the first instance, you know, the first incident came up. I was like, what a start. You know, you can get onto it there. But it was like... Yeah, but we have to be a cause of a trend, that's a lot of goal. Actually, I suppose what we have been doing, me and Gab, we're at the Brentford game, is Grandma sat deep, the deeps of the three midfielders. That was his role and the council had to move forward. It felt today, a slight tweak is in, I think Grandma just almost told to hunt it, which is what Fabino at its peak was really good at us. Fabino was not as sick to just sat for us in the back for a good move. He was one of those defensive players who would push up the right to have and really push up. And I thought his intercepting play today was excellent. And I think that's what got us on the front for us. Up until I tried this loud goal, probably the only frustration was, I felt that we've got ourselves some really dangerous areas. I'm just picking the wrong pass, or we're just holding the hitting passes. And that was the only frustration probably, probably throughout the whole game was, actually we couldn't have done that. - Yeah, yeah, I think that like for the first 15 minutes, I wrote down, you know, final ball was lacking. There was lots of great interplay like up until we got into the box. And then it was just that final ball that was rushed. And it was great to see that that got stamped out of the game as we went on. But I do like going back to the grab and birch point, I do think like one of his greatest strengths is his athleticism and his ability to kind of, you know, not just sit as a six, like the fact that he can have that versatility to go forward and to go hunting. And I think I said to you guys in the chat on halftime, if we had bought grab and birch this summer and we saw him playing like this, we would all be raving. We would be absolutely thrilled with him as a six or as our, you know, defensive minded midfielder, whatever you want to call him. But he's been outstanding. Like him and Saba's lie in these positions. And I think what slot has done is he's come up with a midfield structure that plays to the strengths of those three guys that are in there right now. And it works, it really, really works. And it's so exciting to see. - Yeah, because Saba's lie looks a lot more comfortable higher up the pitch when he's still giving that, but he still, he still does defensive work. He just started from higher up. And care of the good thing about grab and birch was, what we did when we were stopping the ball, giving it away. And they tried to do quick counter sacks. Grab birch, resulting in one of the first ones there for the interception. So simple, clever positioning. And that's all you wanted to do. - He got four of them in the game. Four defensive, he's four interceptions, six ball recoveries, won all his tackles. He just has this knack of being in the right place at the right time. I think it was, character made the comparison and it's way too early to be making this comparison. But he compared him to a young Patrick Vieira. And when you look at the stature of the man, he has the physicality and the athleticism of a Patrick Vieira. It's a case of Kenny developed a mouse and the game intelligence of that kind of a player because that has to be the aim. You know, if you're coming in and he wants to make this position, he's on, which he can. You know, at his age, at his level of experience that he's gained already, he loves to carry, he can carry the ball really well. Again, today he got ahead, he never got ahead of the ball. But he got up in the play and got involved in the play higher up the pitch. And he did it three or four times, but he did it with the confidence is knowing that he's made it was behind him. If he went, mechanics are set. You know, there was always that level of protection there, but no, look, three actually is absolutely spot on. If we had bought him in June and presented him as our new number six and he put in the three performances that he's put in, we've been waxing lyrical about him. You know, and if we'd never heard of Zubamendi, it would have been wow, what a pick. What a signing, how much is $30 million? Barrigan, you know, the manager looks like he's got his project. And it's up to Ryan Gravenberts to do with, to do, he's got the ball. It's up to Ryan Gravenberts now to do with it, what he wants. You know, he could really develop throughout his career, make himself a mainstay in the dark side, shift the young out of the way and, you know, really develop his career and become a key part of this side for the next five years. - Yeah, exactly. - So it is up to him. - So I'll stick to you, Kev. The trend of this allow goal is outside when you see the replay, Mo is outside. I don't know why it's up so long to disallow it 'cause I think on first replay, you could see Mo's just outside. I'll be honest, I thought he did the post and tell us about the replay. But he thought, well, that's an early warning sign. So how are we gonna react to that? 'Cause, you know, sometimes those moments can go for your goal against you. But that seems to wait, look, pull up and say, oh, we could hurt these now. We've proven we could hurt them. Let's go again. - The game changed on that. The game, the whole game changed on that. We went at them faster. We were more direct, more aggressive. There was an incident before it actually, Virgil came out of his defensive line and got an interception and took the ball 30 yards up to the edge of their box and laid it pass off. It didn't work out. But that one, that offside goal, you actually go back, when you look at it later on, have a look at how many Liverpool players were in the box. I think there was about five. I think there was about five players in the box and there was three on the edge of the box pitting them in. So that even if they got a save, you were there to get the recovery and go for the second one. And it was quick. It was really quick. It was offside, but it was marginal. I think it was closer to what a lot of people think because we didn't get the graphic that came up to show it. But yeah, offside. And, but the right, that was the teller. That for me was the one where you go, we've got these. Just don't do anything stupid for five minutes and go for it. Don't give them a release valve. Just get your foot on the ball, play it quicker. And that's what happened. We started to move the ball a little bit faster and push them into the, into their final third. But the amount of times again, we were going through the middle. We're going through the middle to go wide to get it back in. You know, and it just kept happening and happening and happening. United fans must be watching it going. What the hell is going on? We're playing the same system. They were both playing 4-2-3-1. It was man for man. It was the same positions that players were trying to occupy. 4-2-4 off the ball in the press. Four forwards pressing for both sides. But you look at the difference in what Arnold Scott has been able to teach and get our players to buy into. And what Tenhag has been trying to do for however long. And it's just, it will not happen for them. - No, I mean, I don't know, I don't care. I love it. - I mean, actually for a forward thinking coach, they've both played 4-2-3-1. What 30-4-2-3-1 on paper and not the ball. On the ball, look all the very fluid, but structured. United to fit like table football. They all stay in their position, so they don't move. And it's the, today felt like a bit like a soon-ess line of spot the dope. And Liverpool worked out quite early on if Casa Mira was the ball. And Grappenberg just kept reading his passes. And that's how the first goal came. He reads the Grappenberg, he reads the Casa Mira pass and then gets into Mo. And Mo of his right foot, he's not renowned as Kev knows of his right foot crossing. Great ball and really good headed by Pheas because he does well cossopp as well as in his wedge and sopp as well to get out of the way. - Yeah. - And I think one of them will be a bit more relaxed than going right, okay, that gives the base to work for now. We've actually made this a bit of dominance count, which is sometimes in the past not always in the case. - Yeah, I mean, it was so nice to see the other team handing gifts on silver platters instead of the reverse. Because I feel like last year we were that team that was, you know, we were getting exploited and we were having our passes picked off. So to have that in reverse was fantastic. I mean, like, so obviously I must have gotten a late call from Diaz to duck at the very last minute because I have no idea how they didn't just smash into each other. So it was a great finish just for that. But yeah, I mean, I think once that went in, you kind of, you could take that exhale, you could be like, okay, well now, now it's, you can see the evidence on the score sheet because you could see the dominance. But up until that point, we hadn't really capitalized. So getting that over the line, I think was, you know, that was where the floodgates opened. And yeah, Casamiro was clearly very, very clearly their weak point and we did such a good job to exploit him. - Yeah, I mean, Kev and then sort of else we did, which we haven't always done, is we pushed on the second because that was what we didn't do last year all the traffic is when we got a lead, we didn't push the second quick enough. But even at one mill, obviously you may have both got Skye. And obviously you could tell how much my airplane by how uncomfortable Gary ever goes very quickly. It was pretty, it was pretty cocky all, which I think was quite cocky pre-game. - Woolish. - It's, you know, last time he was just bullish to probably seven mill, so I was a bit like, okay. And he was quite bullish and, you know, but you can see that the fear in his voice, the way he was talking, oh, what he knows like, oh no. - No, no, what do we do now? They will bank it all, you know, it's getting the first goal and that capitulating level that didn't happen, and I think the second goal killed it. - Well, the one thing about the first goal, the other thing about the first goal, Lewis Diaz stayed focused to get that header. Subazlo did so well to get out of the way because he was never getting the header. But that is not easy, you know, 'cause Diaz had to come back to get his header. And that header was just inside the post, only just. Brilliant cross, but the vision to read the past, he was, Casabero was trying to get that ball on the ground all the way out to Raster. It was a brain fart, it was ridiculous. And it was something you'd expect out of, you wouldn't even see that in a schoolboy because they'd have been battled for it. But you're right, that was on 35 minutes. And you sat there right, 10 minutes to go, get a second. Get a second and the game is all, you know, because whatever about one, no, one does dodgy score no matter where you are, no matter who you play. But get a second and especially before halftime, that changed the whole dynamics. And it did, it changed the dynamics in the ground, it changed everything, it changed the conversation that Tenhag was gonna have and the confidence that we got that what we were doing and how we were approaching the game is work it. You know, two goals in seven minutes, the pass from Mo Salah on the outside of his foot. - It looks like, it looks like a pass. - Yeah, that's true, but that, to well a pass, inch perfect. - Go finish. - That take, that's take some skill. And to finish, to start that outside the post gave the keeper, gave their keeper absolutely no chance. The fact that he took it early as well, it was, it's the one thing that we were screaming about with Lewis Diaz in the comparison with Sadio Mana is the uncover. He works his socks on. His work rate is ridiculous for a period of his ability. - And also Sadio's a master of big goals and big games. - Yeah, big goals, big game winners. - He did have a big goal, yeah. But Lewis Diaz is in arguably the best form of his Liverpool career at the minute because the work rate is there. His intelligence after all is brilliant. His willingness to come back and track runners and do the donkey work is, I love that in a player. And you know, the end product is one thing, but when you've got that effort and work rate, that's worth its weight in gold. But to cap that off with his finishing and the quality of his finishes, both finishes, the header and the curl into the bottom corner. Delightful, I was bouncing into halftime. It was like, a two-nil, and his feet up, relax. Actually, I mean, I can't have it was at one or a two-nil, but the normal sign that United are in trouble is the self-proclaimed butcher goes a wandering to kick someone and I've let us run away from Virgil Van Dyke so quick and all my life, did you catch the, took out Diaz and then seemed Van Dyke walk over and go come over and do that to me and just seeing him, I've never seen him. - I didn't see that. - He's running away anyway, so he couldn't shrink anymore, but he soon backed off, I mean. - I don't know, they were throwing in a few dirty tackles like throughout the game. I'm glad that our team walked away without any injuries 'cause they, I don't know, some of those, like the tackle into McAllister's mid-drift from Casio Europe, like that was horrible. - No, I don't think that was a foul. And the reason I don't think that was why he was naturally kicking the ball. It wasn't, no, it genuinely, where else is he gonna put his foot? You know, he kicks the ball, where else is he gonna put his foot? I understand, it looked horrible, it looked awful, but it's not like the one McAllister should've had a penalty last year where the foot was standing square in his chest. This one, I honestly think he just kicked through the ball. Yeah, he made a left his foot there, but nah, don't think so. I, I, but there's other ones that, there's other ones in the second half where- - Well, what comes up? - Ask me TV, the butcher became a cocktail sausage. I mean, what's this, sir? Right on half-time, I'd like what's- (coughing) Bruno Fernandez only got us and just leaves and there goes, I'll see you later. 'Cause another man United lost, another Bruno Fernandez ghost show. I mean, he wasn't the only one. Quite a few is there. - I think the only time I noticed him was when he was on the ground. - What the hell? - Yeah, he was poor. - At least he didn't ask to go off this time allegedly. So, you know, there's always that. So, half-time, all going well, Diaz has put us two up. So, speaking of the Louisiana ads, we have, we do have a latest offering from our sponsors at Football Prizes. I was this for a second week. - No, I remember getting better at this. - Yeah, $3.95 a ticket to win a signed and framed Louis Diaz show. It's almost like me and you. I mean, how's this the time is? So, it was $4.99 tickets, $3.95 a ticket, closing date is Tuesday the 3rd of September. So, for us at Football Prizes.com, details are in the link below. And, you know, give yourself a chance of winning. I signed Louis Diaz shirt. Also, while we're talking about sponsors, we've got our two charity partners, which is the Lighthouse Cafe in Dublin, which helps feed the homeless. And we've got food banks in Liverpool, which are also supporting them. The aim is to get to 10K, 5K for each. And, you know, again, with these causes, as Kev does and Kev likes to put it up, just share your social media, retweet it. If you can't give it, just share it around. You never know who he touches, and that's all we ought to do is give what you can. So, there are two charity partners. And, Kev, we may as well call out now. There's a good section of my United fans who are absolute gang of shit houses where some of the chanting that goes on about tragedies and about food, hunger, at least never called out. I mean, at one point, I think Sky lowered the volume a little bit, so you couldn't hear them, but, seriously, nonsense like this needs to be called out, whichever fan base it is, because it's getting ridiculous. - It's been done. - But what happens to this? You get in trouble for it, because, I'll be honest, if that's the case, it's a lot of people that are in trouble, you never ever see it. - They never are. And at the end of the day, the club needs, Liverpool need to highlight it and make a statement on it. - Well, as sure as night follows day, this is gonna happen, this is gonna get used as a way to berate a club, to try to draw IR from a club. It's childish nonsense that does nothing. It does nothing for any club that's involved in it, that does it. And I'd imagine, in a bigger picture, club sponsors are looking on and stuff like this going, we don't wanna be associated with that kind of nonsense. But now look, it's gonna have to come from the club as a whole to come out and make a statement on it and draw a line to say, look, this is not acceptable, matches United as a club need to come out and address it and say this is not on. Good, look, I know, we all know, we all know plenty of matches United fans. - Who is that? - None of them condone that, none of them do. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - No, it's not mentality, it is worst, it's disgusting. - It is, it is. Back to the game, actually. So, Ted Hagg took off Casamero, brought on a young 20-year-old who I knew very little about, but he didn't know right, or right, actually. To be fair to him, he gave him a bit more mobility and he moved on. I think the first real chance probably fell to them, the young series name would forget not to back and the other shot from distance, which Alison read it pretty well, to be honest, and pushed it wide, it's for Alison, it's a routine save, and he sort of reads it with his footwork quite early. And then after that, it pretty much went back to Liverpool being in control. - Yeah, I mean, Ali had a few good saves, I'm sure we'll touch on the ones that came later, but when he was called on, he was there, he was ready, and he kept that clean sheet for us because they didn't have a few chances, but yeah, I think that was around the 51st minute, and after that, we grabbed control pretty quickly, and then it all came from us giving a pretty kick away. So, bad bike, I think, upends on to their players, gives a pretty kick away. So you're like, "All right, you're nice, I've got the ball." And literally they've had 10 seconds to have the ball, we've won it back, and suffers lies straight through, straight through, and puts it through to Mo. It's a good finish, but it's nowhere near the core, but it's a corner, and I felt like Anana was trying to do what I kept it in the Arena Cup fight last, I'm so proud of him once I had a year to go there. It just, all of it just looked a bit odd. - Yeah, I mean, although Ali made some good saves, I mean, when Alison's in net, I feel so confident. If Onana was in my net of Ella's, like, of Liverpool, I would be absolutely terrified. Like, you never know what he's gonna do, and I, you know, like, honestly, like, he was so far over that, you know, Mo could have shot anywhere, and it would have gone in. But yeah, I don't know, I don't know what he, I don't know what Onana's doing half the time. - Yeah, I mean, I think for Mo, now that's now 15 goals in 16 games against Man United, and his last seven minutes of soil traffic, he's got 10 goals. He's quite like big games, doesn't he? He lost big games against big teams. - He was brilliant, I mean, two assists in a goal. The thing is with the goal, he takes it early, and most of that is normal finish, is to go across the keeper, keep that forward. - Yeah. - You know, try to curl it in the top corner, bottom corner, whatever, but go across the keeper. He doesn't often go near both. But Onana made his mind up for him, and you either saw it and went early, or took the gamble and went early. But it was the way to pass, that made the decision for him, because once he hit all the power up, was in the pass, all he had to do was make a solid connection. Once he got a solid connection on that, that was it. And at that time, 56 minutes ago, I thought their heads could go here, and the flow gates could open. - They nearly did. - They did, they did. - That is just like three minutes that followed that goal. Like, solid could have had a hat trick easily. - Yeah. - He could have easily beaten Mani's hat trick record in those three minutes. - Yeah, I mean, obviously, later on in the game, sub-slide with, I'll be honest, I'm not sure what he's trying to do, Kept, it felt like all those chances, he'd just take it first, haven't hit it. And he was, don't know, trying to overplay it, to get onto his other foot. - So Buzzline? - Yeah, yeah, the whole, it's unprofessional thing. It's like, no, he just lost his head. - He just lost his feet. He just lost his feet. But the chance was there for a split second to just tap in him with his left foot. Whether he tried to get around to his right foot, and the slight tackle came in, and he tried to be certain of taking a good shot rather than smashing it against the defender's feet. He should have scored. He should have scored. - That doesn't mean anything could have happened. - Yeah, but it's a, it's a gat go-k bomb for Diaz, you know, to shoot him, he gets a hat trick, but I think he should rest in legs. That's probably got a long trip now to Sapmer at the qualification. So to be honest, it's not the end of the world, if you actually give him a few minutes off. And then on 76 minutes, Bradley Nunez come on, and slightly different trends, Ashley, to have been subbed this time. Gary Neville was trying his best to get, create a story of, does he not like this? It's going to cause problems, and he went off a big beam in the green in his face. All Smalsch, shaking his hand to the away fans, big high-five serve world. Yeah, if you don't believe that, play the game, because you know now there's no story. - Yeah, I mean, it's funny. My, my broadcasters are the exact same thing. Like, before Trent even came off, they were like setting the scene for this massive blow-up. And I'm so glad that Trent didn't play into it. I'm so glad that he acted the way he did, you know? And there was even like a hug at the end for slot. It was great. Like, he played it perfectly. And I think we're going to see that more often. I think we're going to see more players being protected. I think they're going to come off a little bit earlier. These predetermined subs, I think, you know, is the new way forward. If you are going to manage your squad with the way that the season's going to be. And we have able deputies that are going to come in. I think Connor Bradley did a great job when he came in. You know, and I think getting them minutes is important for team harmony. So, yeah, I think that that's probably something that we're going to see a little more often from Trent. And hopefully, he continues to go off like the vice captain that we want him to be. - Yeah, I mean, Kat, the thing that Connor Bradley is, he doesn't have the passing range of a Trent no one does, but what he does give you is energy and legs and pakes. And the last thing he wants to do last 16 minutes, is then go off like Christ Trent's coming off. Oh, shoot, this lad, he runs like a wanger. Oh, for fuck's sake, you don't need that, do you? So, you know, so it's just horses for courses, you know. And to refer a look at Cinecast Cable as a similar thing, you know, he's more direct than Robbo. So he just gives you a different challenge and just what you don't need, isn't it? - Yeah, it's, I mean, it was game management. It was clear, you know, you're looking after the players. The game was done. The game was over at this stage. The surprising thing to me is that he only made the four changes. He didn't use the fifth option, you know, which I thought he could have. But he, by the time the subs came on, the game was done. There was a couple of things that I really liked when the subs came out. Gappa looked a real threat coming in from the far post. The better crosses would have found him, but he made a couple of threatening runs. But right at the death, there was, they were on the attack and Bovin' out for a corner. And it was Darwin who put the bullet in the corner. - Yeah, yeah. - Where he tracked all the way back. The thing is, and I noticed it as well with Jotter, I'm just looking through the stats there. And it's typical of an hour in a slot site. The center forward doesn't get involved much. It don't have as many touches as what a striker would ordinarily have that we're used to seeing. But when they do get involved, it's meaningful. So usually they try to work better spaces. And that's why Jotter was kind of anonymous today. He didn't really get involved, 'cause most of the play that we were trying to build up came down the wings from both sides. And they kept like from the middle of midfield out to come back in. And he just couldn't get into the game as much. And the same with Darwin. There was times there where Darwin was making runs in behind. And on occasions, you look at the trend and say, "Play it, play it, play it." But they're getting into this routine now. No, keep the ball. Just play the ball, play the passes. Get up the pitch by passing it up the pitch. And the chances will come that way. So the players are getting it. They're starting to evolve and to change the way they're looking at games. But there are gonna be times, there are gonna be games where you're gonna want someone like Darwin coming in to make those runs where he will be hit. So it's just one of the quirks of the way we're playing at the minute is you could see people starting to lay into whoever's playing in the number nine, because they might not score. But they do a hell of a lot of donkey work. They do an off-lot of pressing, trying to win the ball back from the recoveries. It's a four-man press, not a five or a six, what we're used to seeing. So they might do a lot of the ugly stuff that you need someone to do, but it's still important. I'm looking at the match ratings here. Jotta only gets a 6.1. It's perceived that it doesn't contribute anything into the attack. You there now? - Oh, you're back, you're back, yeah. - I'm back, I haven't done that anyway. It's just one of those things that stood out for me in the game when Jotta and Darwin were both playing. They might not get involved in the play as much as what they used to, but they still contribute an off-lot of the ball. - Cool, actually, I'll bring up your quotes 'cause you've done all the work, so I'll let you go through these quotes. You get the nice bit. - Yay. - So a bit of Bosella chat after the three now, which I'll see is getting people all excited. So let's go through the Bosella ones first. So here's the first one. - So I think this caused a few ruffled feathers across the board. So Bosella on Old Trafford, he said, it could be my last time. Nobody's come to me in the club about a contract. It's my last game here with Liverpool. On a new deal, he said, it's not up to me, but nobody's spoken to me at the club. - It took a long quantity. - There's a few more. I mean, in short, they all kind of say the same thing. It's basically him saying that he hasn't been approached about a contract and that he's basically treating this like the last season at the club for the time being. - That's key word. I shall see, but it's upsetting to hear that nobody's talked to him. I think that we all want someone to talk to him about a contract. Obviously, the attention was on the transfer window. The transfer window is now closed. - So you would expect it over the next couple of months 'cause that's what I was expecting? - You'd like to hope so. - I think the issue with this is that the narrative from a fantastic game now switches on to Mosala. And I'm sure all the post-match chat, at least on the television shows is all gonna be about him. And whether or not you agree or don't agree with him coming out after a big game and saying these things, they are a quote that we have to work with and have to listen to. And if it is his last year, I mean, I don't know. I don't know how you guys feel about that. - Well, I'm just seeing the quote here from Daniel Sturridge saying I don't believe in his mind. He wants to leave the club. I think he's saying, show me the money. - Yeah. - And at the end of the day, this is what happens. You'll get asked and as soon as a microphone goes in front of Virgil's face, Trent's face and Mosala's face, from now until something is said, they're gonna be asked this question. And every quote that come out with scrolling, micro-analyzed to what it's like. We all pretty much knew the contract negotiations with these three were gonna be pretty much on hold until the summer transfer window was done. - Yeah. - And now it's up to the hierarchy at the club. If they want, they have to decide, do they want to keep these players first and foremost? If they do, then they have to make proper offers. And because it's so late, these players, all three are gonna have options where they will probably be able to earn more. So they have to be able to sell the club and the vision of the club for the next three years. And to do that, the players themselves have to be able to buy into it. Can Mosala do what he's currently doing for the next two years? If he does, and he believes he does, and the club thinks he does, then the club are gonna have to make him a proper offer to keep it. Virgil van Dijk the same. Trent Alexander Arnold is a different animal because of his age and his sailability. You know, you might have to bring Trent's wages right up to hopefully, Mosala? - Yeah, you still have to bring Trent's wages right up to be able to stay off somebody interest that's gonna come his way. But ultimately, look, that's what's gonna happen. That's gonna be the focus now for the club for the next probably six weeks to two months. - Yeah, it's awesome. - I fully expect this to be resolved by October, November, the latest. That would be my hope. - Yeah, I was thinking mid-November, but you know, we'll know either way. I think. - Yeah, because if it's not, then, you know, we're gonna have to be doing some serious shopping in the next two transfer windows. - Correct, yeah. But that's what we're talking about in the future 'cause like I said, it's called "Be hyperbole" and by November, we all know what we're saying and they might be what we want, so let's sort of see. I think we're gonna find this one of these classic quotes. We lost the game. We've actually used to the whole thing with all clinical. I don't want to talk about stats, but the game was tight. It's a game of opinions, we're gonna have a lesson. - I'll tell you one thing. In the second half, Xerxes had some good chances. - He was there most dangerous. - Yeah, Alison had to make some good saves. There was a header in the first half as well that you'd expected to save. It was pretty much, or that might've been the second half as well. There was one pretty much straight Adam. There was the one low, but there were three saves that he made, but there were all saves you'd expect him to make. But they did have chances. They're two really good chances in the second half. They go in, we get a 3-2 when you're having a different conversation. So I don't think we were dominant and we were, we completely bossed the game and we could've gone on and scored 4-5-6 without acknowledging that there were things to improve on. They did have, they did work some good chances. - We were just more clinical. I mean, let's see. - Yeah, exactly, score is that. - You know, that's the difference really. Alison Beck is saying I will clop for the rest of my life. I mean, I don't know if he's brought a lot with him, but also I think that's also what he went through in the COVID season. I got the impression clock was a good score. - Oh yeah, big one. - After losing his dad, you know, what's the clock? - Yeah. - I'm saying we're visible. Right, actually back to you, you can get the full ones there. You get Mr. Slos. - Okay, so Slos went on after in the press conference to say it's a big win. It's been a special start where the special start comes responsibility with us. He went on to talk about the clean sheets. He said it's pleasing, although the second half we needed Alison and in an ideal situation, he's only there to play out of the back. He's continued. It was good that we kept control of the game. And then he went on without the ball, we tried to press as high as we can. We scored a few goals for pressing high. - Yeah, so. - Is that where I ended? - Yeah. - I think, again, that's the last one. That's the last one. - Yeah. - So, oh no, listen, I can't ask much more. Three games, three wins, no goals conceded. I haven't really had to be pushed too hard. You know, the business then, the business starts next, next. After the international break, when it's three games a week, and, you know, that's what we see. How we rotate the squad and how things, you know, are influenced, you know, 'cause you're gonna have to rotate the attack, but we also get to see exactly like, kids and things like that. So, I'll do what we think of that we did last time. Your man on the match, your special mention, and who could do better? All the poor relations. You can't say, man, the United could do better, 'cause that's your dream. - No, I was happy with everyone's performance. Everyone, I don't think, I think Sabah's like could do better with it with that finish, but that's nitpicking. Other than that, his game was really good. I think Sky gave the man on the match to Louis Diaz, and I wouldn't argue with it, because I think the two finishes were so different, but they were so good. You know, the header with Sabah's like, trying to get out of the way, and that first touch finish from Salah's pass, it was outrageous goal. He's in top form, and every time he gets his foot on the ball, he looks like some, he looks like, yes, just pay attention, he's gonna do something. And then you're throwing his work right on top. It was absolutely delightful, but then. You know, honorable mention. There's no point in saying Salah, 'cause he was ridiculous. Ryan Grabber's just growing into this role in the middle of the park. - Yeah. - Look, he looks like the signing that we didn't know, we needed, but we got, and I'm gonna find out that clip, where I said that he could play the six, and I've got to frame it. 'Cause that's probably one of the biggest, the best ones that I've picked out in a long time. We're now delighted for him. But there's plenty, there is plenty to go through. There's so many good performances in that game to it. - Okay, Ashley, who are your three? - Yeah, I mean, I think my man of the match is grabbing Burch, just for stepping up and for proving it's all wrong. I think we all kind of owe him an apology. And speaking of apologies, I think we also owe Louis Diaz an apology for all selling him over the summer, because I think he's probably my honorable mention. So I'll do the reverse of Kev. I think in terms of could do better, I mean, it's nitpicking, I think they all did well. I'd love to see John to get involved more in the final product, 'cause I think he was quiet today. He has that tendency of sort of being anonymous and then popping up with a goal when you need it most. And we didn't necessarily need that goal today, but I would have liked to see it personally, 'cause he was in my fantasy league and I could have benefited greatly from that. But yeah, I wish I had Diaz. That would have been a smart one, but no, I don't. - Cool, I think mine were, I agree with Grapp and Burch. Diaz, I think does deserve his special mention. And listen, I think what we'll sell is one, 'cause the talk was he wanted to go, but two, I don't think many of the spectators have this many goals, that's not three games, 'cause that's not normally his pattern to play this game. He keeps this going, no, it's gonna be bothered. In terms of who could do a bit better, I might, for me, maybe McAllister. I've felt the time just passing was a little bit, bit sloppy bit off, just looked slightly rusty, but it wasn't dreadful, or poor, just thought maybe someone could probably do a little better, but listen, at this stage nitpicking with a three nail, but all of it all, what more can you want? You know, all good, all good. - What's our group's gonna be really quiet tonight, nobody's gonna be in your face. And do you know, I got this habit, when we're playing last on a Sunday, I don't comment or say anything online about anyone else's-- - Yeah, just a case, 'cause that's the fight in the ass. - Yeah, exactly, you know, and above all fixtures, this is the one that could come up back by, if you sound up and something else. - The worst thing you guys get battered by, talking to them, we went, "Ah, this is a great lab, "and we've got Tonk 6-2, my billi, like our own bill." - Yeah, but no, I was looking at some of the results that were happening yesterday, and the lads will go through it tonight, and I'm sure we'll chat about it in the week, but, or I'm up. - Leading to no can be dangerous, go for some people in Merseyside, you've gotta be-- - Yes, that's true. - If you've not seen it, Ashley was getting Kettled to date with my updates, and I said, "I'm gonna go in." I think I'd better go before this, they lost this 3-2, wasn't it? And I was like, "Oh, shit, it actually happened." Oh, no. - That was so entertaining. - It was so bad. It was like-- - I've known it was such an implosion. - As soon as it's 2-1, the feeling of this will go 2-2, 'cause it just felt like that's all it. And to be fair, to whatever, to up until 18 minutes, they played really well. - They looked fine. They, like, I feel like it was, that was kind of the best part, I guess, from our perspective, was that there was so much hope in that stadium, and it was like letting the air out of a balloon. - Oh, it was funny. - Yeah, you know, Sam makes a great point there. Alison could easily be a man of the match. - Yeah. - It was, it goes to show the difference, and I think Kettled her is a great keeper, but the difference he makes with those saves today, that he just makes it look so easy. - And-- - So nice to get back to clean sheets, guys. - Yeah. - I love it, I absolutely love it, I love it. If he, I'll tell you what, we'll go close this year if he wins the Golden Gloves. - Yeah, well, I think you said that-- - If he wins the Golden Gloves this year, we'll go very close. - Next guy was the last time Liverpool won their first three league games and then concede. I think it was when it was 13-14, with storage, when he just, we won every game, you know? So, you know, it doesn't happen very often. So, if slot is flowers, he's the first manager since Bob Paisley to beat United and his first meet with them. - He's undefeated for the entire year. I didn't realize that, they kept mentioning that in my comms. He hasn't lost since, I think, December, which is crazy. - So nice run, let's keep that going. - Yeah, 'cause we keep that going for another two, three years, that'd be quite nice. We might flat you all right then, girl. Right, so the lads will be back later, at 10 o'clock, back back four to discuss this and the weekend. And then, we'll back to the first girls. I mean, we're back to go to the International Football now for two weeks, so, a couple of quizzes, not done by me. Maybe, why don't you, we should do a quiz a week, 'cause it'd just be like, eight might be a right answer. Paul Park, or, you might not think, you never know. Might do a draft, I'm better at drafts than I can. - Yeah, I don't mind drafts. - Drafts on my buzzers. - Which again, we should get us to do a draft, just don a draft, yeah. - Yeah, I just, I don't do quizzes. I can't do too much pressure. - Yeah, I'm gonna ask you, I don't do quizzes. - No, I don't do too high. 'Cause Shorty keeps winning all of them, so there's no real point. - Yeah, exactly. - But you guys, some of the guys on this show have, like, the most incredible memories I've ever encountered when it comes to football facts. - Yeah. - Like, it's absolutely insane. - No, they've got OCD, all of them. They've all got OCD when it comes to Liverpool. - It's just incredible. - They just don't go out, but, you know. - No, that's it. Some of us have social life. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - I just can't remember anything. - Yeah, pretty much, I guess, with age. (laughing) - Well, I saw that happening up then.
