[music] You are listening to The Review on the OSG Sports Podcasting Network. Hello everybody and welcome to the first regular season episode of The Review. It's the online sports guys college football podcast and as we record this we have officially started the season and I'm going to just jump right into it guys. The game everybody is talking about the first game of the year kick off at noon eastern time here in the States played in beautiful double and I don't know what I would. Well, were you hanging out with a certain tank top wearing guy who might have been over served earlier in the week? I think most have been double and Idaho. Have you ever been to double and Idaho? Double and Idaho actually? No, you don't. It's a lovely spot in July. Said thing is I've actually been to double and Ireland which is an absolutely fantastic place to go hang out. And so your reference is double and Idaho instead. I got to give credit for a yeah, but Jim O'Fisher showing the long game by sending Hanes King to Georgia Tech two years ago. Just most like the purpose of screwing SSU 2024. But the quitter can still stick it. Thank you. Much like the bad location reference, Florida States had a bad trip because they got beat. I don't want to be getting kicked late in the game just at the buzzer. Georgia Tech takes down Florida State 2421 a day. Okay, go ahead guys. Just go ahead and let's go. Come on, get it out. Get it out of your system. Let's go. What was the longest throw made by Florida State? DJ had I think three over six yards in his passing attempts at one point. So I know that there were a couple of, I think there were a couple of 15s. I don't think there was a a long pass. I don't think there was anything involving any birds or anything like that. So I'd probably say 15 to 20 might have been as long as past attempt on the day. Well, I think it was Wilkie who said it one of the preview episodes. Don't sleep on Georgia Tech. No, not football team. I have not seen a Georgia Tech offensive line, that physical and mean in years. And they impressed the heck out of me. And that was the reason why Jamal Hayes and Hayes King and Malik Rutherford and all those guys had open spaces to run in because that offensive line was doing a good job on a pretty elite defensive line of Florida States. And so that part of the game, which I thought Florida State had advantage on, didn't happen because of how Georgia Tech played. So that was a real pleasant surprise for me to see that tough physical offensive line of Georgia Tech. And you see how well that offense runs, especially when you get guys in the open space and Hayes King's decision-making and knowing the pole and knowing when to hand off and knowing when to throw. Again, Georgia Tech is on the upside here. And for a team that's got one of the top five toughest schedules in the country in Georgia Tech, that just gives them all sorts of momentum. But for the Florida State angle, look, they didn't have the ball last possession and Georgia Tech executed. I thought that last drive by Florida State to put it in position to tie late in the fourth quarter was well executed. You executed four fourth down opportunities. Yeah, you could pick on DJU a little bit. Maybe he was in consistent with the deep ball and some of his decision-making that kind of plagued him at Clemson and Oregon State every now and then came up. But I didn't think he played that bad of a game. And this is to me is the example or the new world of college football because if Florida State lost this game 25 years ago, back when teams were dependent on the AP poll to get any kind of postseason, then I think you'd be really nervous and Tallahassee right now. But now that we're in the 12 team playoff and you're looking at an ACC that will probably is a two-bit league and I can't believe I'm talking about this in college football, about bids. Florida State is still in the running for a national championship. They still have a chance to win the ACC. And this is the example of how the new world is going to be in college football. This to me is equivalent of men's basketball if UConn would have lost to Georgia Tech in the Maui Classic. That's kind of what this feels like to me. So all this equipment doing about Florida State State seems over and all this. No, they still got a shot to be in the playoff. And this is an example of how the new world is in college football. It was interesting. We kind of texted a little bit after that game and we got into a conversation about DJU at Florida State. And the thing that I took away from it is there might be a reason that he's on his third score in three years. If you're going to be a big-time quarterback, you got to win that game. And he certainly didn't seem to be up to the task. I totally disagree. I thought that last drive by Florida State was well executed by DJU. He converted on two fourth downs and in a minute position to score that tying touchdown. The big reason why he left Oregon State is because Johnson Smith went to Michigan State and he didn't want to go to East Lansing. So we found a landing spot in Tallahassee. There may be some valid points there for Clemson, but I don't think the Oregon State is a little different scenario for for DJU. So I thought that drive was well executed and got put Florida State in to win the tie. Georgia Tech just executed a flat last second play to win it. The lack of long throws were the they call enough for him to let him actually go for a few. Yeah. I thought Phil was a, I wasn't sure if Phil's internet went bad or if he was just in shock because he was motionless there for a second. You know, is it his fault for not being able to hit him or is it the coaches fault for not calling him? All right. Here we go. As the resident alum. I'm going to drink my tea while he goes. Yes. That's the one we're third, by the way. Yes, please do. I had concerns from a Georgia Tech perspective, Georgia Tech mauled Florida State on both sides of the ball. You had a running game for Florida State that was as highly touted as it was. And it was by modern day standards of numbers and yardage and things like that. It was non-existent. 31 carries 98 yards on the day. Roydell Williams had 38 yards rushing. Lawrence Troughy Lee had 32. You had six different rushers. You only had 98 yards on the ground all day. And when you have Georgia Tech controlling both lines of scrimmage and completely, and I saw, I kind of figured out going in what the game plan was going to be. And sure enough, Georgia Tech executed it. Make DJU in his first game in this offense beat you and control the line of scrimmage. You put seven in the box most of the time and you pinned the running game in. So, of course, you're having third down conversions, third down and long conversions. And you're forcing that on the new quarterback. I think that you've got to give a boatload of credit to Georgia Tech defensively, especially in the second level. I've seen Kyle Eford play in high school, full disclosure when he was at DeCula High School. And he was a headhunter then. And he was a rather mad young middle linebacker for DeCula High School. And that has translated down to the college game. I think that if you didn't know who Kyle Eford was, you do now, considering what he did as the centerpiece of that line backing core for Georgia Tech. And if I could figure out watching the line of scrimmage, where the running play was going to go for Florida State, I'm quite sure that Georgia Tech had it figured out before I did when the ball was getting snapped. I give Georgia Tech full creditness. They came in prepared. They mashed the ball on, I guess, on offense and defense. And Brent Key, you know, I think that if a lot of folks were sleeping on Brent Key as a head coach in the ACC, I think that once again, you now know about Georgia Tech, you know about Brent Key, you know about how he wants to dictate play. And they did that 190 yards of rushing on the day by Georgia Tech. And Haynes King did what he was supposed to do. Five incompletions on the day, 146 yards passing. Yeah. Okay, cool. Fine. But that's all he needed to do. He hit the throws when he needed to the offensive line cleared it out for Jamal Haynes on the day when Jamal had the opportunities to go wide and get the first down conversions and everything. Look, Florida State got beat. I mean, that's, that's it at the end of the day. You got beat. The 15 play drive at the end to tie it was, I think what a lot of folks are looking for down the line. But you had a new quarterback in his system in game state. And Georgia Tech got the Duke at the end of the day. So there have been, and you know, once again, as we are want to do these days in the land of immediate response and over action, that after the game, after the game, you literally had people calling for Mike Norvell's head. You lose the Georgia Tech. You lose the Georgia Tech. You should be fired the longest of road trips. Yeah. And you know, it was an overreaction Saturday and Sunday. It was an overreaction weekend. And people are saying, get Nick Saban off the desk and bring him into coaching 25 and bring, I would be more concerned with the offensive and defensive coordinators and the line play and how each blocked. That's where my focus would be. My focus is on the line of scrimmage for Florida State. And as long as they continue to be dominated, there will be issues. It just goes back to what Wilkie said earlier. It doesn't eliminate them from anything at this point. Yeah, that's also a very loud stadium. Yeah. I don't know if you've seen the design of that place, but it's made to acoustically be aggressive. Yeah, yeah, because it's a soccer shape. Acoustically aggressive. I love it. That's a take a look at the shape. Everything has a roof going over it. Everything's curved in the corners to focus that sound coming down. I mean, you heard it in the broadcast. And you know, everybody in those stands was tuned up. I mean, I'm watching the game while tailgating at another game. I was watching the broadcaster drink in this so you know, everybody in the crowd was tuned up. I can't remember what you got did it, but they actually handed the camera guy again. Yeah, yeah, it was Joe Tess. Joe Tess was give him credit for sure. Yes. Well, and you know, you couldn't quite completed on the air and you know, Joe Tess takes his sip of Guinness, the bachelor takes his sip of Guinness, and you know, I give Joe Tess full credit for giving it to the cameraman in front of him to go ahead and finish the Guinness for him. As good as Guinness is here, it's even better there where comes from. And Joe Tess became even more enthusiastic and loud. Well, well, the thing about the well, I think the cameraman may have handed it back to him. Joe Tess is getting ready for his WWE duty. So it was dialed up on purpose. So you were getting. He had the engine crank and that's for sure. Yeah, you had WWE Joe Tess out there, especially at the end where insert Irish, you know, Ireland cliche was in his call for the game winning field goal. So third down efficiency on the day for Florida State five or 12. So Florida State fans be comforted that you don't play again until Monday night, September 2nd. Yes, Monday night football in Tallahassee against Boston College. We're all going to be tuning in. But you've got three of the next game, you're three next games in Tallahassee, BC, Memphis, Cal. Come on, that's three wins right there. Then you go to Dallas, Marty will be reporting from, from Gerald Ford Stadium for FSU and SMU. Should be affordable. Yes. And then you got clums in the start of October. So you've got at least three, maybe four wins after the SMU team I saw Saturday and Reno, I'd say that's four wins right there before you match up against Clemson. So again, don't worry, some of old fans, you're still in the hunt. Good luck on that. Yep. The world has it changed. There's some other stuff going on in college football. And in the second half of the show, guys, we'll talk about next week's games along with our favorite segment college football on a budget. But before we get there, we got a couple of news items to get through. One of them, I found very fascinating, we've talked a little bit about realignment, galactic realm alignment at that. And this week, work comes out that Yukon has been fishing around and maybe interested in joining the Big 12. Oh, no, not more galactic realignment color. I'm just Yukon. Just when you thought the Big 12 couldn't have more mediocre programs. Well, I don't think football's included. Right. So it is, but it's a time, it's a time release. Yeah. The target date for right now is something like 2031. Lord, which is like, which is seven years from now. We're going to, we're going to forget for women's basketball in the Big 12. Yeah, for basketball and everything. Yeah. I mean, but you know, yeah, you're talking Yukon in Kansas. Wow. Yeah, I mean, great basketball game at Fargala. That's what, that's what you're staring at. But by the time we get to 2031, we will have forgotten this initial conversation. Yeah. Well, there will still be a big 12 come 2031. Right. The funny part about it is the reason for that kind of a delay is because Yukon asked for it as an opportunity for them to expand their football facilities, increase their NIL funding, and get the program up to the standards of what it would take to compete in the Big 12. Wait, you're seeing money? Was the impetus for this discussion to start? What? That's not my college football. And what they got, what don't are based on the draw from? That's the, yeah, that's the bigger question. Oh, he can son. Because all that is, all those resources are going right into men's and women's basketball. And the baseball program at Yukon has been a college world series contender the last few years. So they're now starting to get resources. So where's the dollars that it's available to get Yukon's football program up to speed? Well, the money they're going to make on advertising for the program. So you just mentioned they're going to fund bringing the football team in, which is backwards. But if it works, it works. Yeah. I mean, stranger things have happened. They can get an aisle deals with all the media outlets that Deon won't talk to at his press conferences. Yeah. And speaking of Coach Deon, I was going to get to that a little bit later, but we'll go to it right now. Little controversy brewing out there in Boulder as coach prime has decided he can't be questioned by a reporter from the Denver Post. I don't want to know about your boulders brewing. I'm Sean Kiehler. I saw that. Yeah. And it has to do with basically Keelix commentary using some words, non-offensive words to describe coach prime. But you have to have car sales, man. Yeah. Man, has the act worn stale and bolder in record time. Well, we'll see how they perform against North Dakota State. But I just think the show is it's just it's stale and old now. When does the sun get drafted? After this season. After this season. Okay. Yeah. So we won't be revisiting this next year. Oh, I don't know about that. That's gone so is he. What I found interesting when I was reading about this is that apparently he has a clause in his contract that allows him to decide who we will and who we won't talk to. Yeah. Well, I mean, it's nice that you've got a clause in your contract that says that the coaches all the time can sit there and just, you know, not answer a question from a reporter. They can just say that flat out the press conference. Almost good coaches answer don't answer questions when they're answering questions. Right. And so you could you could have a question and you can have a question offered to you by a reporter that you don't want to give an answer to. And then you can give your, you know, you can give your what your ponderosa or, you know, Benagan salad bar word, you know, word paragraph and then you're fine, you know, it's just go full bell check on him. Yeah. Yeah. Instead, you know, nobody's saying anything about the talent level at Colorado currently, they're just talking about beyond being petulant during his press conferences. Yeah. So that's a shame for the kids. Well, but I mean, also for a team that's coming off of a four and eight season, what you're also doing is you are you're deflecting any questions away from last year. You're here. Basically. Yeah. It's like, it's like the Gilbert Godfrey scene in Beverly Hills cop where he's got the ticket in his hand. And then he's got he's got the money over here. And it's just like, you know, by the time he's like, you're looking at this hand, you're going, Oh, what's what's over here in this hand? And then by the time he's like, I don't know what's over, you know, that's what you do. That's what you do. It is, it is deflection and preparation for a team that's coming off of four and eight year that had the expectations that it did with the talent level that is there. And so with all of the portaling that is going in and out and all of the all of the expectations that are there, it's it is deflection to the nth degree. And so you're not focusing on the kids and the, you know, it's like, Oh, you were four and eight last year. What about, you know, Travis Hunter and Shador. And that's not where the questions are going. You talk about them, them going four and eight and like it's some sort of a disappointment. This was a team that the year before was 0 and 12. Yeah. It was an improvement, but it was a hard fallback from them doing a Heisman talk. And we, yeah, the hot start that they had, they had the, the big, the two and I'll start to help them. Yeah. And so then you finish the season too. And so they beat a middle TCU team that lost the majority of their talent after their playoff run. Yeah. And then the school worth and I got the whole thing going and then the high has been hype. And then I guess after the two and I'll start, they got ranked in the EP poll. And everybody was thinking, okay, 10 win season, maybe a playoff berth, maybe a pack, 12 title. Hey, I'm going to go buy some of those sunglasses. The coaches were. Yeah, exactly. People are bowing me off their sweatshirts and their T shirts. And then the roof caved in after that Oregon game. And so and that was all she wrote. And it was four and eight. And yeah, they felt like they should have been 12 and now that's why I'm looking forward to Thursday. That's probably going to be the most watched game. And I mean, and Wilkie, they actually had a three and oh start because they beat TCU, they beat Nebraska, then they beat Colorado state and double overtime. So they were they were three and oh, and then they go one and eight to run the door. I mean, lose it Oregon, who was number 10, lose it USC, who was number eight, beat Arizona state, which, you know, you should have done anyway. And I think a lot of folks were staring at that four and two. And you're going, okay, yeah, cool. That's kind of where we thought that they would be. Then lose it home to Stanford and double overtime. Ken, you had a lead in that game and you should have shut the door in that game. Yeah, that was the game that really we saw the Colorado team kind of implode a bit and not be able to handle pressure situations and then just snowball throughout the season. Yeah, you lose to three ranked teams after that UCLA, Oregon state and Arizona. And two of those were at in Boulder. And then you finish losing at Washington state and getting blown out. And then it was a tight game to Utah to finish. And so, you know, three against Utah too, but it just just didn't work out. Utah's a much better coach team maybe. And so you start three and only tougher. Yeah, you start three and oh, you go to four and two and then you finish, you know, then you finish four and eight. So right now this is deflection to the nth degree. And so look, I haven't heard any talk about anything on the field with any player at Colorado this year. It's all been focused on prime and having run ins with colonists and such and Jim Trotter from the athletic. He got his two cents in the other day and everything. And everybody's now talking about how he is now coaching and giving press conferences like an individual who is scared. Careful. We're going to get banned. Yeah. Well, I'm just, it's like that's, I'm just saying what other folks are reporting. Coach Brown blocked you would be a Twitter badge of honor though. Craig James was. Speaking of accusation from Boulder. Speaking of accusations, here's a good one for you guys. There's a bit of a pissing match going on between Miami of Ohio and Alabama after Miami coach Martin. Oh, that wasn't a pissing match. He flat out said he took him. Yeah. Yeah. He cheated. He took him. Yeah. There was no like inferring hinting. He was like, nope. And we're talking about a kicker. It's okay. It's okay now. You're also talking about an all-American Rosa award winner. Hey, I mean, Alabama need to kick her. He wasn't happy in Miami. He didn't play in big games on TV. Helps his draft stock, right? It goes from action to the SEC. I mean, shoot. See, we're talking about a kicker. Living the dream. Exactly. So, okay. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's cool that you've got a coach that doesn't have a filter like that and it just goes out, flats out, accuses Alabama of stealing a player. You know, welcome to the Wild West. That's where we are right now. That hasn't happened before. No, never has never happened. The only thing, the only new part of that story is a coach being honest. Yeah. Yeah. Quite part. I think the response from Alabama coach Kylan de Boer. He entered the portal and we reached out to him. That's how it goes, right? Yeah. Except he said that sentence in the wrong order of how it actually happened. We reached out. He entered the portal. They're talking about cutting down the portal, the portal windows, which we're, right now, there are two of them, one into several windows, one ships. Something's definitely sinking. The only part, you know, I got my hopes up them saying, hey, you know, we, the oversight committee, I'm like, okay, we're going to get rid of one of the, one of the windows. I'm like, okay, sounds like you're finally getting a hint of what's going on, but we're still going to leave the first one to be during the worst part of the time of the year for it to play off on time. It's like, God, do it after the college season is over, not during it. Do it in January. Move it back 30 days. That's all you need to do. Oh, you mean that sweet window where there's no football and nobody has class? No figure. Jesus. Yes. Hopefully they read the Twitter enough that they'll see that a lot of people are saying, yeah, but slide that back a little bit for it. They don't read the Twitter X. No, no, they don't. No, and you can. It's still Twitter. Get off my lawn. Yeah, you can always see any X in the X is s in the midweek. Yes. Only about 1/3 of what you read there. Guys, let's go ahead and wrap up the first block of the show. We return in the second half. We're going to talk about the first full week of games in college football, plus your favorite segment and ours, college football on a budget, all that more. It is the S D H network and soccer down here. Hello everybody. You have made it to the second half of the show. Guys in the first half of the show, we talked about weeks zero in college football and some of the interesting games such as the Florida state loss, coach prime and a few other things. Guys, we got a full week of college football ahead of us starting on Thursday night. The first full set of games, a lot of them are smaller schools, but there's some interesting matchups there to get things go in the battle of Utah, Southern Utah at Utah, Utah ranked number 12 going into the season. What sorry, I just looked at the schedule here. I just got to change that. My most interesting matchup, Lindenwood, which I didn't know was a college for at Kansas. Yeah, Lindenwood is Lewis and in a high school and they started. I mean, they've had a football program in the NAI for a while, but Linda was a high school school coach there. Yeah, and Lindenwood over time has graduated from the NAIA to the Ohio Valley and really, yeah. Yeah. So now they are in the big South Ohio Valley, you know, mix of things. Yeah. Yeah. They're part of everybody then they come along. They're in the big OVC is where they are. And so yeah, so the big OVC has Southeast Missouri, who beat North Alabama, Charleston, Southern Eastern Illinois, Gardner Webb, Lindenwood, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin and Western Illinois. So yeah, the big OVC has Lindenwood as they have worked their way up the ladder. Interesting. Yup. Very interesting. Hey, Dave for Lindenwood. We talked about coach, coach Prime and Colorado taking on North Dakota State a game that they better be really careful about because they could lose. Boy, Colorado's a nine point favorite. The total is 58 and a half. Give me North Dakota State in a hurry. That's not much of a spread. Take take North Dakota State. I'm taking. They're rolling in there with a whole lot of talent and not much concern. Got nothing to lose. I like Colorado in this game. Probably by two or three touchdowns. The depth of Colorado is just going to take over. We can talk about how good and big North Dakota State is, but at the end of the day, I got to be on the way down. I'll take North Dakota's cohesion over the depth at Colorado. They've got no cohesion and do you know about their depth? Then the depth I'm more worried about is the line, which I'm going to go to state is better at. I'm looking at North Dakota State and mashing the ball and getting inside that nine and a half. So I'll take North Dakota State. I'll take the nine and a half. I don't know if they get to 58 and a half and I'll take so I'll take North Dakota State to cover the nine and a half. They'll like them to cover, but I think they can win that game. I think they can. I'd rather win in the spread. Okay. Another interesting match up here in that first Thursday of college football action. North Carolina travels up North to Minnesota. Great time of year to do it. Mm hmm. I'll get bit by all those mosquitoes after dark. True. You know, when I look at that matchup, it just looks like two college football programs they're trying to find an identity in their conferences and two coaches that kind of this is the kind of year they've got to show something that warned a contract extension or even keeping their job. So that's the interesting matchup to me and two is has Carolina found a quarterback to replace Drake May. Minnesota is a little one and a half right now as we're as we're talking and 50. It's a talking about coaches whose acts are wearing thin. Yeah, PJ, definitely. And I don't know if Mac Brown would necessarily be on the hot seat here, but it'd be an interesting to see how they get started to kick off their season. A couple other matchups as we kind of move along in the schedule on Friday. Oh, dude, you're missing the other big one on Thursday. What's that? Postal at Jacksonville State. Uh, okay. Yeah, good. Sunbelt matchup. That's, I mean, early on, right? I mean, what Jacksonville State has been able to do. It only cares about one Sunbelt team. Yeah, I know, but it has priority stream. Yeah. And I would. I'm sorry, Jacksonville States and comfort USA. Well, but I would also think that, uh, in, in the household that you are in, sir, uh, Cilla and Tulane, you know, that might be one that folks will be paying attention to in your house. Anyway, I don't think so. Okay. As you would. Yeah, I need to get more familiar with conference USA, seeming that my alma mater is going there next year. And, uh, in that Louisiana matchup that John just mentioned, I don't think anybody in Louisiana cares about it, much less people outside the state. Wow. He's, he's hitting that shit early. All right. So always didn't Tulane used to be in the SEC back in the day back in the day back in the day. Yes, back in the back around the turn of the century. Oh, yeah, close. So what was your Friday match up? Um, got a couple of directional games. Western Michigan at Wisconsin, Wisconsin, a temple opening up on some Oklahoma. Yeah, all you ones easy. Oklahoma is a 43 point favorite. So yeah. I'll go crazy and save them. They won't cover. Yeah. You in TC, TCU at Stanford 1030 game kickoff in Palo Alto, isn't it? Well, yeah. Technically, since it's on campus, they listed as Stanford, California. But yeah, it's Palo Alto. So match up with two programs with good reputations in history, neither of whom have had much success the last season or two. Yeah. TCU is to get a degree yet. Yeah. TCU is a half and 61 and a half. Yeah. TCU went for being in the national championship game two seasons ago to being a mediocre, lower level bowl pick, all of a sudden, correct. Um, then we move on to Saturday. The first game of the day is a, is a doozy. Clemson and Georgia, noon kickoff here in sunny Atlanta, Georgia. Uh, 12 p.m. kickoff on ABC, atmosphere, Sadie's been steady. And we're about to find out what Georgia has and what Clemson has pretty damn quick. Uh, I mean, yeah, I mean, I think Georgia doesn't get tested until Texas. I think that right now, Georgia is a 13 and a half at 49 and a half. Um, I don't know if teams earlier going to cover double digits. I'm thinking that Georgia wins by 10 maybe and, uh, they're not going to show anything. Yeah. This will be, this will be getting in the door and getting out of the stadium with your, with your pay day. So that's, uh, I, I think Georgia wins. I think it's comfortable and I think it's a three and a half hour. Uh, I think it's a three and a half hour walk for Georgia and that one. Yeah. Dad was going to be more clenched in the ceiling in that stadium. Correct. Yeah. Yeah. To me, it's, uh, for Clemson, it's going to still do the little things to win. And, um, if they do that, um, it's competitive. Right now on paper, you, you really like Georgia by a couple of touchdowns. Uh, but, um, look, I, I think Mercedes Benz is going to be in a frenzy. Uh, and, um, again, first games of the regular season kind of scare me, especially when you get a matchup like this. So I, I'll have four to stick Georgia tack. Uh, and this kind of screams at that kind of, kind of match up again in a neutral site. Uh, so I give Clemson a pretty good shot of beating Georgia. But in the day, if, if my, if you had a gun to my head, I would say Georgia's going to win it by, by 10 points. Yeah. Yeah. At the end of the day, Georgia's got a lot of veteran talent returning, including quarterback Carson Beck. And I think he makes the difference in this game. I look for Georgia to win it fairly comfortably. A couple of other interesting matchups to start things off. Penn State travels to Mordentown to take on West Virginia Mountaineers. Yeah. Uh, Penn State's eight and a half and 51 and a half as we're talking. Hi. That games of Mordentown. Yeah. And this is an old Eastern independent type of rivalry, uh, that, um, uh, really wants something back in the eighties and that endies when they're both were independent until since they joined the big 10. Uh, to me, this is the game that Neil Brown needs to win. Yes. Uh, to see if he's on the right track West Virginia, they're going to be a capacity crowd at Mountaineer Field. Screaming out near fans. I see them burning couches at the end of this one. They pull off the upset. Oh, a drunken hillbilly hootenanny. Old statement there by brother Wokey. Uh, here's your Florida matchup of the day. Florida. Hosting Miami to kick off the season at the swamp. I'm rooting for mother nature in this one that may be kind of like Bane in the, in the movie when he was at Heinz Field and the Steelers were playing where the field just gets exploded and it opens up and both teams fall in. That's, that's what I'm, that's what I'm looking for. That was the best part of the movie for me watching Steelers Stadium get blown up and Miami, Miami, the whole, the University of Coral Gables is a two and a half point favorite in 53 and a half. This game, this game is just going to be hideous. I just, I don't know if they make it to 53 and a half. And frankly, I don't care. It's just no, no, no, anything involving the, the University of Coral Gables and the University of South Georgia Gainesville campus. I have zero interest in both coaches will play this down, but I really think both are, are in the crosshairs. This is a hot seat game. No, no. Yeah, I mean, Billy Napier is this our matchup of the week? Yeah, I mean, Billy Napier's got a marching orders. You got to win six games, at least. Mario, Chris of all always put together some really good recruiting classes, but hasn't equated to wins and a lot of expectations are put on Miami this year. So the winner of this game's got got a nice push going into the season and the loser. But I guess get the feeling that they won't be able to recover from emotional loss, like that could be wrong. But that's just how it feels like for me. I'm still trying to figure out how this game has no winners. No, it does not. Well, actually, if neither team wins, then we all win. It's a surviving advanced kind of a game. I think I look at Miami here for the win. I like the hurricane. It's just a little bit more than I do Florida in this game, but it's going to be a slobber knocker steel. Some other interesting mashups on the first Saturday of the college football season nor a game traveling to college station to take on Texas A&M in prime time. Right. Tamu is a two and a half and 46 and a half. I love this match up to begin the Mike Elko era at Texas A&M, but you can watch it for the rest of us. We know the success he's had at Duke, and what he did there. He's got a job to do at Texas A&M. They're definitely going to be tougher. Notre Dame coming in that pit at Kyle Field. Are they going to get weak need in the third and fourth quarters? That's the thing. I like A&M in this game and college station exploding afterwards. I don't like anybody in this game either. Yeah, I don't care for Notre Dame much, but if they can smack him in the mouth early, that stadium gets quiet. Really quickly. If you don't smack him early, then it's a completely different ball game literally. That is true. I like Freeman. Freeman's a good coach, but I don't know if he's going to have him ready for. Yeah, I don't even know which way to call this one. It's going to be how the opening drive goes in the term mutually assured destruction would work well for me. It's an arguably a toss up game. Really, if you look at it, Texas A&M's under achieved the last couple of seasons. They haven't really done much of anything. And Notre Dame usually doesn't doesn't do something stupid till the end of the year. Yeah, but they're also not. And then they lose a bowl game, not known as a fast starting team. They'll be an interesting match up. Moving on down the line, defending champion Michigan starts off their season with friend Fresno State. Do I have an asterisk logo? Yeah, that's because that's not even the easiest cupcake game of the on the board. It's not even cause. There's few of them here. I'll give you a sneaky one. Georgia State at Georgia Tech. Dell McGee and his first game as head coach at Georgia State. And those of us here in the Southeast know Dell McGee's history and know how knows how plugged in he is. Coming to going up the freeway to some total of about four miles from his stadium. It'll take him 45 minutes in traffic. Correct. So, let's see. It's changed since I've moved. Yeah. So, you know, so Georgia Tech coming over from Dublin, Idaho, by the way, there is no Dublin, Idaho. There are a couple of other D name cities and I know is not letting me forget that. Are you? No. You know, let's see. So, you got Georgia State and Dell McGee in a let down situation of biblical proportions. And right now, Georgia Tech is a 21 and a half point favorite in 57 and a half. Give me Georgia State in that one because it's going to take at least a quarter and a half for Georgia Tech to get back to where. Oh, we're in the Eastern time zone again. And I'll take, I'll take Georgia State from the points in that. Predict them to get us hangover. Absolutely. I am. And for the record, the only D's that I could find that were in the state of Idaho were Dalton Gardens, Driggs. There were a couple of others, but those were the two largest populated out Dover, Downey, Dayton and Derry. So, there's at least a half a dozen D's in the state. Oh, Declo. Moving on to other games. There's Derry and I. Sunday, we've got monoling. Sunday, we've got a feature matchup, USC at LSU, the big 12 USC Trojans versus the SEC LSU Tigers. What conference you say USC is in? Big 10. Okay. Yeah. And this cannot get used to that. First of all, I see a big 10 patch on their jersey. Yeah. And, and this one is in Vegas. So that saves LA, that saves USC a little bit of grief, because if this was a night game in Death Valley, I would have said LSU by more than the four and a half, right? How do you get their alumni to show up though? Yeah. How does LSU end up becoming the whole home team in this game? Hey, the man. Both of them are getting paid. They're going to make a lot of money playing at Allegiate Stadium in Las Vegas. Yeah. So, LSU probably got a little more. We're going to make you the home team. No, they get the choice of which color jersey they will. Of those two teams. Of those two teams, which one actually makes money at home games and which team loses money at home games? LSU makes money at home games. Oh, God, USC does not. And I'm just, I'm just waiting for Brian Kelly to do something on social media where he's dressed as Elvis. You know, it's going to happen. Will he be on that little spinning wheel? Absolutely, he will. He will be dressed. He will be dressed as the honky-tonk man, and he will be on the the spinner and they'll do the 360 cam and he'll try to play the guitar or do whatever he wants to do. And another kiddle de commit? Correct. Yeah. So, that's how that's how this will play. I think Brian Kelly and an Elvis jumpsuit. I can't wait to see the happening. Yeah. Yeah. And then BC and Florida. Being of nightmares. Well, I think obviously everybody's going to be wondering how Miller Moss plays as the starting quarterback for Southern Cal because that, you know, used to be known as running back to you, but it's become quarterback you with all the highs and trophy winners they've had at quarterback. And then both Southern Cal have a defense. No. Lincoln Raleigh decided he's going to finally address that. Well, let's see if they can actually make a third down stop. Because they're going to be facing some elite athletes in LSU. He dresses quarterback development because that guy, they had transfer out, couldn't crack the lineup on a much lower tier tee. Yeah. And LSU's got to think of it with LSU. They have to replace Jaden Daniels and Malik neighbors. Yeah. This season. I just think they'll, I think they will out athlete USC in this one. I don't know. Oh, sure. And it's four and a half. And so, that's an easy, that's an easy run for me. And we talked earlier in the show about the final game of the first weekend of college football action, Boston College at Florida State, also returning from beautiful Dublin, Idaho, or I, Ireland, depending on what, yeah, they were, they were. Yeah, that was deliberate, Marty. They were turned from double Idaho. And yeah, with the other seven, with the other eight D named cities in the actual state of Idaho. But yeah, the trip from Dublin, Idaho back to Tallahassee. Right now there was 17, 50 and a half is the total. I don't know if they get to the 17, maybe they get to 14 or something like that. I don't know if they get. It's BC. Name your score. The only intrigue for you. Are you saying Iowa levels of offense, output and out of BC? Yes. I think that they are out of BC. And I think that that's why FSU would have to do most of the of the legwork yet to the total. The only intrigue for me is, is Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, calling the game. It is Monday night football. That's true. Yes, it is. And the NFL doesn't start until the week after. You're going to make me not watch it if that happens. Oh, absolutely. No, it's, I've had enough, I've had enough yelling in a season already. So we're good. And guys, we'd be derelict in our duty if we did not get to our favorite segment before we wrap up this episode. And that's all on a budget. Where if you want to go to catch a college football game, you don't have a whole lot of money to spend. We give you some guidance and tell you where you can go for under 20. Usually under 20 bucks, we might need to keep it under 10 bucks this week, guys, because there's a lot of games you can get in cheaply to this week. Let's go to attend. But if you leave comments in the comments, actually, I can also tell you where to go. Let me make a suggestion for you. Yeah, sure. Go to Tucson, Arizona for as they host the New Mexico. They used to play back in the whackdays for the Kit Carson rifle. Five bucks gets you in. There is only stadium in Tucson. I think that'd be a good game to watch. Now New Mexico or Old Mexico? New Mexico. Well, Mexico, they probably, they probably be playing for a 12 pack of Corona. No, there'd still be rifles involved though. Yeah, it would be. Yes. So a bunch of games this week, guys, you can get in for a low, low price of $2, including Southeast Louisiana to Maine, Eastern Illinois. Okay, you're doing them too fast. I can't answer. I want my $2. Mario, let me make a suggestion to you in the Metroplex on Saturday. Head over to SMU to watch him play Houston Christian three bucks hit in. Well, it's alumni. So we might actually take that one. Yeah, see, and that they actually had $1 tickets at one point, but they've now the highest they were shamed and then they doubled the price. Yes, the highest low is now $2 or three. And so that's what you're staring at. Another suggestion for all of us. Damn, son, what's up? I have another suggestion, a place that might become very familiar with the next four years. Now, is that Troy? Nine bucks to get in. It's not bad. That's expensive compared to some of these other games. Oh, I know. It's an expensive Troy game, but I'm fine. Yeah. So you can get into Indian estate versus Peru for four bucks. There you go. Wait, where's that at? It's it's a Ross aid. Okay. I don't know if they've improved that stadium since the last time I was there in early, but then when the Port of John is the best bathroom option at a game, Oh, wow. Avoid the stadium. Wow. Honestly, they had a trough sink and a trough urinal, and I wasn't sure which one was which. Here's another $2 game for you. You can't at Maryland. I pass. I'll take that one during basketball season, but not football season. Terrible. Oh, yeah. Here's one for you. Yeah. Eastern Kentucky and Mississippi State. Five bucks to get in at Stark Vegas. I might be worth it. Can you tell which team of the part? They're both maroon and white. That's true. So some of the field be maroon. I believe Eastern has a maroon feel, right? Yeah, this will be this is on the grass at in Stark Vegas. So it would be it would be somewhat one sided. Let's see the trip out this take the trip out to Seattle for late night game on Saturday. You can watch Weber State take on Washington for the low, low, low price of $5 at Sena Cuskey Stadium. That's a trip. That'd be a nice that's a good environment out there. Yeah, it's on my bucket list of stadiums to go to. Yeah, so I could I could do that. Yeah, I mean, we could fire up the Weber while watching Weber. There you go. We got grilling references. Absolutely. So no, I think been the real estate for a football game before. It was 30 years ago. I was from where they had kitty litter on the field. Logan Utah. Ogden. Ogden Utah. Thank you. But yeah, the Houston Christian SMU game at Gerald Ford for three bucks. That one. That one is really staring at me. But yeah, I don't know there. I could probably get in free. I got some friends at work over there. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know an Oregon for 11 bucks. Nevada and Oregon. Yeah. And it's. But yeah, the $9 for Nevada and Troy, where Troy's nine and a half and 45 and a half. You saw it in Nevada was capable of against SMU. And yeah, then that might be some sneaky good football. I'm there. You and LV in Houston at T.D. eight bucks. All right. As Houston, I heard that they were sticking their nose and other hand gestures towards the NFL and there's a distinct possibility about them rock and the powder blues a little more this season. That'd be awesome. But the Houston Wheeler look, I loved it. They kind of gave him the come take it response. Yes. And they are looking at and not only doing it for football, but expanding it to other sports. Oh, absolutely you should do that. Please be awesome. I don't buy that one, especially if they're rocking a powder blues. Yes. Just for the flip side, not that we are going to spend this kind of money. But North Dakota State and Colorado, $95 to get in. That game's in Colorado, right? Yeah. And that's a false. Yeah. To get into the game to get in, get in price in Morgantown for Penn State and West Virginia. Over the $200, $237 to get into Milan, Pusker. There's been that's in West Virginia. Yeah. It's in Morgan. Yeah. Who's got $230 that lives in West Virginia? That's you're catering to the, I'm making more hibile jokes because I'm fine. Yes. The Penn State folks will be the ones paying 237 to get in the door. Yeah. Take some notes while you're there that you actually have hotels around that stadium. Notre Dame and A&M, $189 to get in at Kyle Field, even for the high up 500 level or whatever. What time of day is that game going to be? 7 a.m. 730 prime time. Okay. So your tailgating will be during the 100 degree part. Yeah. And yeah, you'll be you'll be there. They're going to be very rowdy or people are going to be passed out from Sunstroke. Yeah. Both run style will be flowing. Yes. So guys, I gotta wrap it up. Why? Oh, run a roll. Is Phil about to be invaded in his own home? Probably. Yes. Oh, wow. The boss actually admitted it on the air. Time to wrap up the first, the first week of the regular season. There's so much to talk about and not enough time. That's the way. Hopefully you will get to enjoy the games. There are so many choices, things to see. Check. Don't forget to check out the Tupac on the CW. If you can find the CW. For brother Marty, for brother Wilkie, and for brother John I and brother Phil, we are the CJW.
