Play-offs. Don't talk about play-offs. You kidding me? Play-offs? I just hope we can win a game Now move on to Cincinnati. Hello and welcome to the SBCR newest show on the block. It's about football, but it's not a bug ball, it's not about gay, it's not about soccer, it's about real ball, it's about American football. And the season is back this weekend. We've had the first game, this episode has been recorded on Friday the 6th of September. And I am joined by the clear chief, so Morgan, good day to you. Delighted to be here, Luke. Delighted to give an input into our version of the NFL season, up and coming. Yeah, sure, we'll have a little bit of a petty talk anyway, and we'll see how it goes. Just to give people an overview, we have one or two people, sort of Irish breed in the league currently. I think there's one or two under practice squads, and the Packers' punter is still there. He's gone into his second year. But I suppose a lot of people in Ireland, Morgan, we didn't go ourselves because I think you're not really too bothered about the college game. But there was a good college game by all accounts on, up in Dublin, to start the season after two weeks ago, and Pat McAfee was in town. Right. Sorry. Yeah, yeah, the Pat McAfee show. And I don't know, did you watch any clips of it? They did a two or three hour broadcast from a pub. And at one stage, he asked for less water, and somebody brought him up with my Wadi, and he was looking at it saying, "What is this product?" He couldn't figure it out. But he said, I think in the meantime, he drank about 30 points against us. And Nick Saban was there, and I'd say he didn't really want to be there. But he sort of smiled and carried on for a little bit. But I suppose for some people that don't know a huge amount, I suppose the game in general are that look at stuff more on YouTube and likes that. McAfee's show is different. It's out there. He's a bit more subdued now that he's actually on ESPN. So he has to behave himself a little bit. And he's getting paid as the man says. So have you any thoughts on it? Yeah, McAfee has his own individualistic ideas. He comes across with some controversial, shall we say, comments. He would be a big supporter of one Aaron Rogers, the current quarterback of the New York Jets, who has a very enigmatic personality and doesn't speak to that many people. It's a bit like Haiti, more Haiti. Exactly. He robs a lot of people up the runway with his views, et cetera, during COVID and not taking his COVID jobs like the rest of us. But no, the earliest college football class in Dublin was Georgia Tech and Florida Gators. And I think it was an upset Georgia Tech winners and the Florida Gators were hotly tipped to win it and win it well. And no, I didn't actually, I wouldn't be a fan of the college football at all. It's mostly the NFL that I concentrate on. Yeah. Yeah, I suppose if there's no real ball on, I suppose the hard time you might take a look at it. For anyone that's interested in it, which is basically Saturday is far college. Exactly. We'll say between here and December, we'll say the tail end of December is when if yours are to do nothing on a Saturday and you don't want to be watching the premiership and it'll hurt in our chat, our baseball championship is over. You want to watch something, you can watch a bit of college. But the only good thing about the college side of things Morgan is that it gives us an insight into who's going to be the latest and greatest to come into the league in the years to come. And I suppose we'll get into it a little bit where we talk about the people that are going to be maybe this year's breakout stairs, maybe who'll flop, who won't or who could be coming down the line. And because the draft is where all the best college players appear at the end of their careers in college and I think about 1% of them actually make it to the NFL draft to join the pros. The draft took place. Was it Chicago this year? It's five or six months ago, no, I can't remember. I can't remember I think it was. But a heavy year for quarterbacks and we'll get into that as it was when we just destroyed. Sorry, you're correct. It was your M&M was there. It's correct. Just you carried, I think, a year before. But we'll get into that in a few minutes. So for this fourth episode, we're hoping to start to make this maybe once every four or five weeks because the NFL season is basically 17 weeks. It used to be 16 and it will be 18 in, I'd say, in a few years time. But that will be a debate for another day. We'll do a debate about the machinations of the NFL and its money making methods in another separate episode. But we're going to be talking ball this week because I said the hype over who won the preseason is over. And at this stage, it's real ball time is happening. And we had the first game last night. And I suppose we will say in advance that your Chiefs fan Morgan. I would have to think now that I'm your, the thoughts are the chiefs are going for what the Yanks call a three-piece. We'd call it a three in a row. They call it a three-piece. A feat that hasn't been done in the NFL in the sort of Super Bowl era. I think these are five or six teams maybe have done it twice. The last team, you know, have won it twice in a row. The last team to do it, the 034 Patriots. So it hasn't been done in 20 years. But the Pat, sorry, the Chiefs did it. And you'd nearly say, Morgan, they did it last year. They won it out and they weren't a great team compared to what they have been previously. They won it out because they had the center spine of greatness, which was the head coach, the quarterback. Taylor Swift. The tight end with Taylor Swift, yeah. The Swifties backing them up. And the defense coordinator and the defense, they had four primary and settled managers of that team that could bring out the greatness in anyone. So basically it didn't matter who got injured. It didn't matter who was out. They were able to plug in players and keep the same process of methodology going throughout the season and throughout the playoffs as well. They remind me an awful lot of the Patriots starting off in the early 90s, where they're beginning to find their feet and they're beginning to figure out what it takes to be a Super Bowl champion. You've got to remember, Luke, that they came very close to actually completing the three-piece and the only team that stopped them was Cincinnati at Arrowhead. And only for that we'll be talking different dynasty of the Kansas City Chiefs. But this year, they are looking good. First game last night. Now, a lot of commentators have stated it was very reminded them of a lot of playoff game, such as the high intensity. They played the Baltimore Ravens. They finished the Baltimore Ravens season last year in the comfort round. And they're very much a revenge game for the Ravens coming into Kansas City and taking on the World Champions. And indeed the game lived up to a spilling, went to the four quarters and it did and went down to just one or two players. Literally a game of inches. What happened was at the very, very last play, the Chiefs defense did exactly what the defense acquired or what it was them to do. They kept Lamar in the pocket. They prevented him from running, even though he had run over a hundred yards during the game. They prevented him from running. So they kept him in the pocket. They forced him into the pass. Lamar moved around the pocket, found the gap and then unleashed this 30-yard bullet to the back of the end of the season, finding tight end Isaiah Lightly reaching high, grabbing it, coming down. As the last seconds ticked in the game and the referee came in and announced it was a touchdown. And the game was tied as 27 a piece and we were going for extra time. Well, I was just listening to a review and I was coming up to meet you. And apparently Harba, who's the coach of the Ravens, had indicated he wanted to go for two. So he wanted to win it. Well, it wouldn't have been, yeah, Harba would be a maverick of that sort and he wouldn't fancy taking his chances against Mahomes coming back onto the field again. So you're probably right, he probably would have gone for two and maybe even one. But all scoring plays within the two minute warning, which is the last two minutes of either half, are review in the boot. And when they reviewed the touchdown, they found out that his toe, Isaiah Lightly, the tight end's toe, was out of bounds and the touchdown was taken off the board. And there we have the first team win after 2024 season. Yeah, I think I saw a little bit of the game, washed it live and I just listened to the reviews of it. And there's a part of me is worried. Now, I know it's week one, we'll come back. And as in build, we trust the great build, always head the quote. Yeah, we'll start worrying about football in October, you know, really football starts in October, four or five weeks might be, you know, there's always some outliers out there. But the Chiefs look good. The Chiefs have got fast Morgan, which is sort of scary when you have the homes. No, the Ravens brought in King Henry. Correct. And the Ravens won't be gone anywhere anytime soon. You've done ours, the MVP, he's lost a few pounds apparently, wanted to get back to sort of his run and game as well. And if you think you have the mayor and Henry in the backfield, now it might be the ghost of Henry, but he's still probably better than most of the run and backs that are out there. That's a good one, two punch. But the mayor's sort of Kryptonite has always been his passing game. Yes. And the people tell me that he had a few trolls he probably would have liked back in the last few minutes of the game. But you'd sort of give them a good chance of progressing whether the season goes on. Yeah. And it was a big fault in last year's conference playoff game that the Chiefs game plan was to keep the mayor in the pocket at all costs, don't aim run, and force him into the pass. And they did that with success and they won. Now everybody presumed last night that it was going to be the dirty Henry show that he was brought in for this purpose to run. And you'd have even play action pass or play a boot action run by Lamar Jackson. You'd have different variants and strengths of it. They did it for the first series of plays and Derek Henry scored a touchdown. And I think he had five more touches at the ball after that. Right. See a lot of commentators giving out to the coach of the Ravens as to why he wasn't utilized more. Now they did go down by two scores. So their hand, their hand as such for forced to pass the ball a bit more. But when you have a talent such as Derek Henry, where it takes two or even three less to bring him down, you should be utilizing him a lot more. And no matter where you're playing him, former away. But I expect them to improve as the season progresses. I expect Lamar and Derek to build up a relationship to have an understanding of each other's strengths and weaknesses, an idea when to give the ball, when not to give the ball when Lamar is to run and when Lamar is to pass. And I do expect him to go into the playoffs and be a serious threat to the Chiefs down the road. Yeah, I think we'll discuss it down the line again, where the AFC is fairly, is fairly loaded. And you'd take a guess at most of the teams that have a good chance of winning that will be in the AFC. But as a man says, only one AFC team can get to the Super Bowl. You know, so it might be that they could start to beat themselves out. But say flowers didn't do much, I'm told. Not really. He was, again, he was taken out of a kind of by the Chiefs. They kept an eye on flowers and they kept an eye in Henry, who did the damage for them last night was Lamar with his feet and not even Mark Andrews, the number one tight end. But this Isaiah lightly, the number two tight end. What's more likely? Yes, I think he had two touchdowns last night. But he had definitely over 100 yards in catching and played an absolute starmer. And then for the Chiefs you had, you had Pichico doing his usual damage on the ground. Rashid Rice was bottled up well, the wide receiver by the Baltimore Ravens. But their number one pick, the fastest man ever to run in the combine. He did a 4.1, I think in the 100 meter dash. He played last night wide receiver and he ended up scoring two touchdowns. And as you alluded to earlier on Duke, he is quite a catch. And the Buffalo Bills are probably there gone. Oh dear, why did we let the Chiefs jump us in the draft? What the Chiefs are going to be fast, Morgan, and the man that you haven't mentioned, who's out, he's on Pulp I think at the minute, is Hollywood Brown. Hollywood Brown is just as fast as Xavier Wardy. And even Rashid Rice isn't too slow either. But Hollywood Brown is out with a hamstring at the moment. He's expected to be back after four games. But they're going to be a seriously fast team. I will put them back. It should put them up towards the top again as a serious threat. And it would mean that anyone that has Mahome in their fancy team is probably a little laughing, laughing. I had him last year and suffered. But I think you could look at it and say, we'll say Spaggs, Spagnola, who's their defensive coordinator, is certainly one of the best in the game. And if not the best that's left in the game now, and there are always going to be good on defense, he can scheme. And if Mahomes doesn't have to rely on Taylor Swift, sorry, Travis Kelsey. And I thought last year, I didn't think Kelsey had his best year last year. Morgan, I said, no, I don't watch Chiefs religiously. I think he's 35 now. He's 35. He's pushing on. He's commented these games this season. New look, new look, mustache, new look, haircut. All right. And he seems to have lost a bit of weight. But again, as you said, 35 years, that's a lot of mileage on the clock. You can't be expecting him to carry the team. But what they do have is the great Andy Reed. And as everyone knows, and anyone that follows the NFL knows Andy Reed's playbook. It's about the size of a two story building. He has so many plays. It's well known. If anyone looks at highlights at the NFL pre-season, they were seen in the first game of the pre-season, Patrick Mahomes throwing a first ever behind the back pass to Travis Kelsey. So these are all schemed up by the great Andy Reed, who is the coach of the Chiefs. And so long as they have, they have the cheeseburgers, the man says he's called. So long as they have him at the helm, they'll always be in. Oh, yeah, they're certainly got to be in with a chance. And look, it's week one. You know, by week five, somebody could get injured. Yeah, something could happen. You never know what's going to happen. That's one of the great things about the league. Just one thing before we finish off the Chiefs Morgan, Reece Samet, who is the Welsh led rugby player that went through the player pathway program would say, which is like the European version trying to get players over to join the league. And there was a lot of who have over in the UK, especially in relation to him. He'd signed a three year deal with the Chiefs. And for anyone that's aren't about there looking for him now, you can give us an update as to his status because he, despite signing a three year deal, he's no longer with the Chiefs. He's no longer with the Chiefs. Didn't make the final cut. But they do have him on the practice squad. No, he's gone from the practice squad of the Chiefs. And he is now with. Oh, sorry, the Jaguars. You're right. Yeah, you're right. So no right. Yeah, I forgot about that. So the dream isn't over for him. And I think part of the problem is that the Chiefs trying to find a position for him. I don't think he would have been able to develop the skills fast enough to be a decent wide receiver. He'd have had to pace. But he could have been special teams, returns, and maybe a little bit of running. But he was probably his problem was he might have been good at a number of things, but not great in one. Yes. And that because the Chiefs are fairly well loaded in certain positions there, and that it just might have been that it wasn't for him. But look, he's still he's still there. So he's still working harder. He's still trying to be a better football player. I suppose with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yeah. One must remember as well the Jacksonville Jaguars now have signed with the with their league agreement with NFL UK and their games. So they're playing there for 10 years. They've also taken the play two games there every year. So they'll be they're back in Wembley this year. This year. I think we might be going to see them. Correct. But we're not exactly going to see Matt Jones. We're going to see the other team, but look, that's another day's work. Yeah. Good job. And we'll talk about that at another stage. Right. Listen, the game that's on tonight. And this is where, you know, the questions will be asked. Leeds, when are we having a game on Crock Park? And I will say, I think we could have a game on Crock Park within five years. And if you're talking about how did Jesus is that going to happen? The NFL expansion team, and I'll give it a two minute version of it. I'll try and cut it down to even less than that. Currently, there's 17 games in the season. There was there's 32 teams. There was 16 games in the regular season, up to about two years ago. And four practice games before they started, which three and a half them weren't worth a damn, because starters only got played, I think, in the fourth quarter of the third game. And after that, it was just sort of a bit of a condition for the lads. The league is going to 18 games. And the way that it currently goes, I think we're up to maybe five or six international games at the year. So that's 12 teams. I think Morgan, what's going to happen is there is going to possibly be an international game every week, so that you could have maybe not have to tail into the season. But certainly, I think for a huge chunk of the season, you're going to have a game being played internationally. It's Brazil this year. We have three in London, you have two in Germany. They're going to Spain next year. They're going to the Burnabout. And I think it's going to get to a stage where the two conferences, you'll have your 16 teams. So it's like eight teams. There will be eight international games shortly. So while they're playing 17 game season, and they've nine at home eight away, and what they'll do is that alternates every second year. I think each team will stay with eight home eight away, and then there will be the international game. I think that's how it's going to happen. Do you have any thoughts on that? It definitely is, because the NFL is serious about expansion. They know that's where the money is. But it's about making money. That's what it is, like, and there's different bits and pieces. They've even spoken about even going into the Japanese market, even to the branch in there as well. They'll follow the money. Wherever the money, wherever the income will come, they'll follow that trail. And it's a bit like, we'll come back and talk about the TV deals and everything else like that, another program. We're not actually talking about football. We talk about business. But I think we could have a game with the Steelers in Crow Park within five years. I think there's a better than not chance of it happening. Definitely. So tonight in Brazil. In Brazil, first time ever. First time ever. And you have the Packers playing the Eagles. Now, if you were to play in Amsterdam as Morgan, the Packers are being tipped by people in the know to be a Super Bowl team. The Eagles won't season off being in the Super Bowl, but had probably the worst meltdown of a season that you could have gone. What are they? Nine and one, ten and one? Yeah. Last or last six? Personally, I don't believe in the Eagles. I don't think you really believe in the Packers. Yeah, I just think, Luke, I think the addition to the Equin-Barc, it's going to really bring on Jalen Hartz a lot. It's going to take a lot of pressure off him. Like, it's going to be the running back to choose people. The Giants and he is special and he can carry the Lord as the man said. And I know he got injured last year and I know that the Giants weren't interested in resigning him. But I still think he's special. He's with a new team now. He's looking to improve, make a statement. You still have Jalen Hartz, you still have AJ Brown and Devanta Smith on the outside wide receivers. Dallas Collar, the tight end, they still have the defense. Again, if anyone's following the NFL, the Eagles were famous last year and the year before the year they won the Super Bowl for this tush push, which was led by Travis Kelsey's brother. Travis Kelsey is going out to Heather Swift. Well, his brother plays. Jason used to play for the Philadelphia Eagles retired last summer. That leaves a big gap. That's where it's going to be very interesting to see. Who is the center this year? How well will that person gel with Jalen Hartz? If they gel well, the Eagles are a playoff team. If that center is not as good as Kelsey, if we don't see the tush push any more, then they're in trouble. Okay, winner of that game. Very hard to call. Very hard to call. I'm going to go Eagles. I go Packers. Yeah. Right. So, that's the Friday night game, which starts, I think, around the quarter past half past one into Saturday morning for us. So, then, no games on Saturday because it's college time. Great. And we are on to Sunday. And what we have, we said, if you're watching Red Zone, you're able to watch all these at one time. And it's basically like the sixth slot is sort of where, yeah, there might be one or two good games, but the match ups are sort of like in the prime time one. And we've a lot of prime time games in the first three or four weeks of the season. There's a lot of games being loaded up like as in fairness. That ravens and Chiefs games and Packers Eagles, they're two big games to start your season. I don't know how big this game is going to be. The Steelers at the Falcons. And again, I'm going to shock you, Luke. I am going to say, as you're well aware, when we did our fancy football draft, I drafted quite a few Atlanta Falcons. You're a believer. They're a surprise packet. I think they're going to do damage this year. They're in a very weakened conference. They've picked up Kirk Cousins. Kirk was the quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings last year, got injured, ACL over the year. He's back. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons. They have a wonderful runner back, Bijan Robinson, great wide receiver, Jake London, and Daniel Moniex, Bears, Falcons defense, much improved, brought in Julian from the Patriots and drafted a few players as well. I think they're going to make a statement. They've basically gone all in for this year. Yeah. I think the Steelers, I'm afraid I haven't much confidence in the end of the process cooking for them because I think Russell Wilson, is because he was a very good player. He didn't do anything really at the Donkeys. No, at the Broncos. No. I think there was a bit of a competition with him and the men that Bears torfed out as their quarterback for that start position. Ross has won it. How long he will win it for? I don't know. The Steelers, like Mike Tomlin is a very good coach, has never had a losing season. Correct. Yeah. You know, I'll start to say, could this be the year? I think it could be. But we'll see. We'll see how it goes. I got Falcons as well, so that's two for the Falcons for that. The next six o'clock game, and this is the Cardinals at the Buffalo Bills. Now, the Buffalo Bills are in the middle of the building, in the new stadium, amongst other things. But I think the Bills, Morgan, have the potential to not be great this year. I'm going to, I'm with you on that. And basically, I just have the feeling that the mileage is clacking up on Josh Allen. The coach on McDermott is under severe pressure. The coach, who was a McDermott is a defensive coach, has had the play calling, taken away from this year. That's not a good sign. So they're basically setting up for post, Sean McDermott. Yeah. They're going to sack him. Which isn't a good sign. That's not good for a team that won't be expected and has expected to go all the way. Yeah, again, have had wide receivers issues there the last few years with Diggs, sort of, you know, sort of Sean the whole player, I think, for probably for the last two years, realistically. But like we said, Allen is a fabulous player. He is. And he's a beast of a specimen. But I don't know do they have enough to sort of make the coach this year and we'll talk about the divisions, maybe near the end of it and do sorts of things. I think they'll win this game. I think they'll beat the Cardinals, but I can't see them doing. They might win it or maybe nine or 10 this year. But your thoughts, would you think you'll win? Well, they're up against the Cardinals. And this is Kyler Murray. And this apparently is the first year Kyler has had no injuries going into the season. They still have James Connor and they picked up the number one wide receiver in the entire draft in Marvin Harrison Jr. Yeah, that's going to come for something. However, I'm not convinced of their defense. Yeah. I think the Bills have a better defense. So I'm going to go with Buffalo at home. Yeah. Yeah, it is hard to bet against them at home. Right. Now, next we're on to the Titans at the Bears. And I have, I would like to think the Bears will be a lot better this year. The Titans are sort of got rid of their coach as well. And he's out of a job still, Mike Ravel, which may be a little bit surprising. But the Bears, all those draft picks that they've had over the last few years, I think that I think they've finally got it right. They didn't get it right the last time around would part back and they didn't support him. But they have a new man this year, Morgan. And I know we've a few people that sort of we communicate with. And I think for the first time, the long time, there's hope for the Bears. There is. I'm a believer in Caleb Willems. I think he is going to be a good quarterback. And he fits with the Bears persona, you know, the tough rug. They've had their picks. They've picked up Keenan. The only downside I have is that their wide receivers are old and injury prone. But Keenan and DJ Moore hamstring issues go for multiple games. But when they're on the field on paper, the Bears are a serious threat. They still have a good defense. They still have an outstanding tight ending called commit. As I said, two elderly receivers who know how to get that ball into the end zone, and they have a great runner back and they're under a swift. So we're going to see more wins for the Bears. But whether it's enough, I still think they're building, but they're building the right way. Yeah, it's a tough division that they're in as well. But I give that one to the Bears. Yeah, Bears as well. I'm going with the Bears. I mean, I think the Titans are in total rebuild mode to get rid of the running back. And they've done a lot of OK, they picked up Calvin Ridley, and they still have the Andrea Hopkins. But as far as I checked their recently, he's out injured. He's not even playing Sunday. Tyler Boyd, he's injury prone as well. This is very much in a rebuild, a team in a rebuild mode. Yeah, right. We'll move on to a team that is in another rebuild mode, which sadly, I think, will be gone on for a number of years, or beloved Pats. The Patriots are playing the Bengals, and the Patriots, I think, are probably on track to be one of the worst teams in the league this year. Unless something radically happens. Joe Kool is back for the Bengals. I can't see anyone but the Bengals win in this. I'd like to think, but I can't see it. No, I think the message coming off for this one basically is, will Jacobi present the quarterback and the New England Patriots survive the game? Because that Bengals defense, Patterson, all the lads are going to be coming after him. The offensive line for the New England Patriots isn't that good. Jacobi is an elderly quarterback. He's only keeping the place warm for the number one pick. But unfortunately, the Patriots do not have the talent that they should have. And the Bengals are a playoff team, which Jamar Chase, T Higgins, Zagmas, or the Lord of the Talent. But the Bengals' problem is their ownership won't pay. Yes. Higgins would say he was still sitting out, I think, up to choose that. And they're saying that they don't know whether Jamar will turn up or not. They're still waiting for the to be paid. Anything is possible in the NFL. These guys could be traded on a Saturday. Yeah. I like Boro. I like the Bengals. I think the Bengals are going to be one of the teams to beat in the league this year. As long as your pool stays. Right now, a very interesting match up to Texans at the Colts. Two teams that have been in the Dalgrams for donkeys years, both with sort of shiny, sexy new quarterbacks. Big hopes for this. This is I think this is a replay of one of the games I've played in the last year. I can't call this. I like to Texans. But Colts are at home. I got Colts. You give me your thoughts on the two teams. Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm a believer in stride. I saw him last year. The games I watched, he played brilliantly. They picked up Joe Mixon, who was the runner back with the Cincinnati Bengals. So, he's committed a mix. He'll take a bit of pressure off him. They also picked up Stefan Diggs, a great wide receiver of X Buffalo Bills. So, they have weapons. They just have too many weapons. And they have a defensive mind coach as well. So, the defense is going to be top class. I think they're going to win and win fairly well against this in the Indianapolis Colts, who really haven't added much during the half season. No, but this is Richardson. But Richardson getting back. He's good. But as we saw, he's big. As we saw last night from Lamar Jackson, a quarterback on his own, he's not going to win all the games. Yeah. Okay. And I still think the Colts could do well this year. You're going for the Texans. I'm going for the Texans with this one. I go for the Colts. Right. Then we have the battle of Florida. And this is sort of like a sneaky, interesting game as well. The Jags at the Dolphins. And question is, who's under the most pressure here now? Hard to know. Basically, if I was to call it, both quarterbacks are under pressure. This look will be the highest scoring game of the weekend. This should be a shoot. This should be a shoot out. They have all the weapons. They've had all the draft picks. You have your Tyrek Hill on one side. You have your Christian Kirk on the other side. You have great running backs, ETN on one side, AKN in the other side. They're good. The defenses aren't that spectacular. Yeah. And I've been feeling this will come down to whoever has the ball last. Yeah. For religious reasons, I go with the Jags. And I'm going to go over the home team because it's just too close to class. Yeah. Okay. So you're picking the Dolphins. Yeah. Right. Next up, the Panthers at the Saints. The worst team in football last year versus the Saints, that weren't great neither. Who likes Terry Carr, huh? Yeah. I just had to look at it. I pick a winner out. I go with the Saints. Yeah. You'd have to go with the home team here. I mean, the Carolina Panthers were just so off last year. I mean, it's amazing Bryce Young, the quarterback last as long as he did for the entire season. Yeah. He got some pounding. He got some. He has potential though. He could have his. He has. He needs to be protected. But I don't think he's the right size. I think he's too small for the quarterback size. He's not, he's natural 6-3, 6-4. He does have potential. He does have an arm. I just think, you know, Derrick Carr has been around for a good while. He knows, I mean, you have Kamara there to run him back. He hasn't done really for the last two years. He's a sensational talent. But you still have great wide receivers there in New Orleans with Oliev and Shahid. Yeah. And you have the all-purpose, Taysom Hill then, quarterback slash running back slash wide receiver. Yeah. So he does it all. Yeah. He does. But he doesn't do it often enough if you have them on your fancy team. Great. Yeah. But you do have the better defense than the Panthers. Yeah. The Saints in the dome. Yeah. Definitely. Right. The last game in the early slot then is an interest in one, the Giants of New York versus the Kirk Cousins less vikings. And the vikings had an interest in off-season. Very interesting off-season. As people would say, "What? Jesus, were they at?" Well, I'd say the vikings were foolish for this their fourth round draft pick was going to be their quarterback of the future. Unfortunately, he got injured. And now the quarterback for the business sort of vikings. And I can't believe I'm saying this is X New York Jets Sam Darnold. This is... Yeah, I'm sorry. This isn't board. This does not board well for the vikings. No. We've seen Sam in the flesh. Yes. And he's seeing ghosts. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's not off for. And I mean, the sad part about this is you look at probably the number one wide receiver in the entire NFL. The highest paid wide receiver is with the New York, with the Minnesota vikings, Justin Jefferson. He's wonderful, but he's never going to get the ball. He's got to be a total passenger this year. And the Giants I think got... The Giants picked one of the best wide receivers in the draft, didn't they? They did. They have Malik neighbors. Neighbors, yeah. Yeah. As we were looking at it earlier on the year, how do you pronounce that name? It's A-A-B-E-R-S, but he's pronounced neighbors as, you know, as on the TV. So, but not neighbors. Yeah. What? The Giants are still the Giants. They still have Daniel Jones at quarterback. He's not going to win you much and it's... Every year we're saying the Giants are going into rebuild mode and they should, you know, but they never actually do. They shelved out money to resign Daniel Jones a long-term contract again. But for the last year, bad decision. Yeah. Bad decision. They're kind of stuck with him now. So, it's going to be two poor teams facing off against one another. I'm sorry. I can't pick Sam Darrings. I'm going to have to go with the Giants even though of pains me. Yeah. I agree with your pains me to do it as well. I just don't raise Sam Darrings at the quarterback. Yeah. Right. So, she's two of us picking the Giants. Who's the toss? Who's the toss? Anyway, that could be a three-needle game. You never know. So, now then we're answered nine clock games. We've two games of five past nine. The Raiders against the Chargers. There's no question about what's over the Chargers in the AFC this year. Yeah, but Morgan, he's no one to try to. That's the problem. He mightn't. But he has the coach. But look at the coach. And look at the pedigree of the coach who transformed the 49ers team into the Super Bowl. So, I expect big things from Justin Herbert this year. They still have Josh Palmer, they still have Quentin Johnson wide receivers. The run-of-backs, I'm not a fan of the run-of-backs. They got rid of Austin Echler. Echler has my little luck. But they picked up the Baltimore, of course Edwards and J.K. Dobbins. Two Baltimore run-of-backs. They will be better. But enough to get into Super Bowl or into the playoffs even. I don't know. They still have a good defense. No, they still have the nucleus of that good defense that was their last year. I just think how about those that won't be fully aware. His brother coach is the Ravens. Correct. They've been against each other in the Super Bowl back in the day. He's mad as a brush. He's controversial. He's prime time-viewer. He is. Yeah, he's a bit like the Navy fits a thing. Yes, that's great. That's a good way to listen. I'm at home, the Raiders. I'm sorry, I just won't get into that. Gardner Minchu is the backup quarterback in my eyes. And he's quarterback in the Raiders. That's not good enough. That's the same. That's unfortunately you're going to have Devante Adam sitting on the sideline waiting for the ball to be drawn to him all day and he won't get it. Yeah. So, Chargers? Chargers by my lights. Yeah. Okay, now on to one of your favorite teams. Oh. The Broncos are playing the Seahawks. Yeah. Seahawks at home. I'll be honest with you now. Was there two teams that I don't hugely keep up to date with you? Be up to date more of the donkeys than I am. I'll pick the Broncos just for the crack. It's the greatest unknown look. It worries me, the Broncos are in the same division as my homely chiefs. And we don't know too much about their new quarterback, Bonyx. He blew the trains off of pre-season. He won the quarterback starting job and he's starting on Sunday for the Broncos. Yeah, but who did he beat out? Well, he beat out our friend, the ex, it's quarterback. Yeah. It's happy. It's happy. So, it's a happy fever. It's okay, but not, not at least. It'll be hard to know. This, this, you just don't know. I, I have a fear that he's going to turn into, was the Texas quarterback turned into last year. The hit on good? Yeah. Because he had that good of a pre-season. Okay. Yeah. And, and he has Sean Payton as the coach who's an offensive mind guru. So, hard to know what to make this Bonyx. We're going to know fairly soon because this Seattle team earned a walk over. Gino Smith is a, he's a journey man, but he's a service with quarterback. They do have problems at the, at the running back, but they still have kind of walk or if he's healthy. You also have TK, Meg Kaff. Who's a great player? Jackson Smith, and in Jigney, Juba, and Tyler Lockett, who was injured during the pre-season, but hopefully he mightn't be back to 100%, but he is their speaker on the outside. They still have a nucleus of a good team. No. Okay. So, I'm going with the CRT arcs, this one. Okay. But we'll go on to what I suppose is the two later nine o'clock games, at 9.25, and this one's on Sky Sports. Cowboys at Brown's. Now, I said, I do like to call boys of all, I think back, back in the 80s, was everyone got interested in the game. It was the Cowboys that you sort of saw more so because we were watching that, as I said, you know, that type of stuff. I said, the Browns, I, I, for religious reasons, and the way that they sort of picked up their, their quarterback, I can't root for them even though they were so bad for so long, and then they were starting to get good, but then they went and sort of forked out a truckload of money for Deshawn Watson, who as a man, a man with issues, and it's hard to sort of see how that deal is going to ever turn out to be anything but bad financially for the team, I think, for the effect that it's had on them. And he, apart from the fact that he was getting paid a truckload of money for the last two years, he's been injured. And yeah, he wasn't good when he was playing. No, he has been good. He hasn't given the Browns a return on what they invested in him. That by a long shot. And I don't expect him to do the same this year. I just think that there's too many issues with him, himself, and the team, even though they've picked up a couple of them. They have talent. They have talent. They have a great, I mean, this, this game is going to be a very defensive game. You have two very good defenses going off against one another, with all star names on either side. It's going to be tough to score on either team here, but give me back any day. I just think that with CD, Lamb, Brendan Cooks, they're just, they're a special team. They're a good team. They brought back Seek, who was with the Patriots last year. It's kind of a homecoming for him, probably a sponsor, and they'd like it to last well into the playoffs. But their problem is they've made him a character in charge of them. They have put even, you know, sometimes talent wins out. And again, signing CD Lamb to that large contract for the million year. That's a, that's a board Lord of Money. I mean, he's going to be very, very happy. Dak is happy. They're going to go far. I think the Cowboys are going to go far this year. And I expect them to look after the, the Leland Browns. I don't, I don't, I don't. I expect them to look after the Browns as well. And so then the one, the other teams in their division is the commanders. Yes. Versus the books. No, the books could have the potential to be a sneaky, not bad team. The commanders had the number one pick and picked up their franchise quarterback. It's not FedEx Fields anymore. It's just commanders fields. So, and they're still trying to get a new stadium, a new ownership. Probably take another few years for it to come on. It will. That could be a sneaky good game. Mightn't be a high scoring game. No, good game. Yeah, it probably will. And I'm interested to see how, how good Jaden Dining really is. Yeah. I mean, he, like he does have the Speedster Terry McLaurin on the outside. Other than that, I mean, they picked up an elderly Zach Gertz from the Philadelphia Eagles tight end. He doesn't have a hell of a lot of many, many weapons. And he doesn't have a great defense. The commanders are still in the, in the building mold. The books have been around for a while. We know what we're going to get from Baker, steady and slow. He'll get you there. Might even get you into the playoffs. Might even get one winner out of it. But they're not going to be the World Beasers. They're going to be slow and steady team. You still have your Mike Edmonds, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, tandem wide receivers. They'll get an open age. If they're healthy, they're all stars. If they're not healthy, they're not playing, then the box are in trouble. Yeah. It's not a great division. No. But who would you pick? I'm going to go out with Tampa Bay. You know, I experienced Bay from Mayfield's experience over Jaden Dining's first game in the NFL. Yeah. Okay. I picked the commanders just for the crack. See that the new regime gets off after a good effect. No. The Sunday night game, a rematch from last year, and it's match you Stafford returning to Detroit and Damon M. And the man that was, that lost his job when Stafford went to the Rams is now in Detroit. And I'm afraid no matter what, you know, the coaches have made people you either love him or you love him. They have been the epitome of a team that went from winning two games, I think, three years ago. Then the nearly the obsessive team, I think, last week of the season, the following year, playoffs then, and they, I think they could have won. I think they could have won the Super Bowl last year. I think I really think they could. But I do not believe in their quarterback and I'm picking the Rams. Let's go. Well, you guys remember last year, first game of the season, the Lions went down to Arrowhead and beat and beat the Chiefs in their own backyard. Yeah, and beat them well. So they're real. They are for real. They are stacked with talent. They have the running backs. They have the wide receivers and they have, they have a good enough defense. With the Rams, they're going to be better this year. Stafford is, his injuries have cleared up. The running back is special. And the wide receivers, Pooka Nokua, Cooper Cup, they're just all-stars. So it's gone to come down to defenses. I think this game is. And I think the Rams losing McDonald, the sack leader of last year, he retired from the LA Rams. Him not being replaced is a huge gap for the Los Angeles Rams. How they're going to manage his absence. Because in every game last year, he had to be double team to stop him second quarterback. He was a beast. But he retired. He retired early. He had his money made. He retired early. He's left a hole there in the Rams defense. They'll be fine on offense, Pook defense now. Give me the Lions at home. They're more balanced and they have just as much talent. Yeah. Sorry, I can't. I just don't believe in Jared Goff. I just don't. And I think it goes back to seeing him getting schooled in the Super Bowl by Beale. Oh, yeah. That's what it was. Now, I won't deny. There's a fact that he does like the Lions, but for this one, I go with the Rams. Now, the last game is Monday Night Football. And this has the potential. You were talking about defenses. This has probably what should be one of the best defenses in football in the Jets versus what should be one of the best offenses in football with the 49ers. And then on the other side of the kind you have, oh, Aaron Rodgers, which he last won four plays this year. Religious reasons won't allow me to pick the Jets, Morgan. So I'm picking the 49ers all the way, but this could be a good game. It will be a good game. And it's going to be, it's going to be a signal game for Aaron Rodgers. I don't believe that the Jets are as real as what people think, even with Aaron Rodgers. I believe history has taught us that when they picked up the gunslinger from Green Bay Favre, when he played for the Jets, he was a disaster. I believe Aaron Rodgers is going to be just as much a disaster for the Jets. Suppose we could have the thing where the Jets are going to Jets. The Jets will be the Jets, hopefully. So I'm picking 49ers all day on this one. Yeah, 49ers, again 49ers, I think, called your team under pressure this year. Yeah, it's kind of getting up towards the time now that they have to... The window is there. Listen, we've about five minutes left, and that's our preview for week one. We'll come back. We'll say for the rest of the year, our starter predictions. I know it's too easy to pick. We'll be back probably in about four weeks. We'll come back maybe around week four or five, because things are settling in September and stuff like that. But have you any great thoughts on who you think? Who are your favorites maybe to make the poll season? If we started AFC East, you're going to go with Miami and the Bills. They're going to... The two of them are going to make it. No, I said much at all, as I dislike the Jets. If Rogers is half okay and their defenses are advertised, I think they could... Because it's in the conference, they're going to be beating each other. I think the Pats are going to be tailing Charlie's there next time around. No, AFC North Morgan. Ravens are the Bengals, are the Browns, are the Steelers. Yeah, I mean, the Ravens we saw last night, you know what you're going to get from that team. They're going to make the playoffs. Cincinnati Bengals, and now Flats are going to defend on that offensive line and keep a job or upright. If he stays upright, they'll get in. If he doesn't, he'll get hurt again. He got an injury last year that nobody seems to have ever heard of the name of the injury in his Tom, but it caused him to miss the substantial amount of games. He should be okay this year. They have a mediocre, but they have an unhappy team because they have not paid their players the wide receivers. So I think that's going to come back to bite him. I picked the Ravens to come out of that division. Okay, AFC South. AFC South, there's only one team there that uses a plant use. Houston are just headed shoulders above the wrist. The jags, maybe. Maybe, but at last we'd have to go right from. AFC West, I don't think you can't bet on. I can't go against my chiefs. No, just in relation to the wildcard teams. You say Ravens, Bengals, Dolphins, Bills, Jets, Chargers, Colts, Browns, Texans. I think Texans are going to win that. Obviously, the chiefs are going to win theirs. Bills, possibly Bengals, I think, have a good shot at the playoffs. For some mad reason, don't ask me why. I'll give the calls a shot. I'll probably be two and fifteen, but I'll give them a shot. I worry for Richardson. I worry that they're putting too much in his young shoulders and asking him to do too much. I think the smart vote might be on the calls, but we'd start to see how it goes. NFC East. NFC East. The boys all the way. Yeah. The boys all the way. I just think that they're set up. Yeah. I think the hardest one to pick. The NFC North. The Lions, the Packers, are the bears. I'm going to go to the Lions. I think golf isn't sensational. He's a game manager, but that's all he has to be. They have the talent around him. They have the defense. They have the mad coaching. Yeah. I think they're going to be free. I think they're going to come back this year. OK. NFC South. Again, who wants it? This is a division where who wants it? My sneaky pick are the Atlanta Falcons. They've just invested so much money. They've gone all in. Yeah. Whether they can gel together, it usually takes a while in the NFL to gel. But if they can put it together, yeah, they should go a long way. Yeah. NFC West. 49ers, Rams. Seahawks. Again, very hard to go past the 49ers. Yes. Very hard to go past. Your Christian McCaffrey, Divo, Samuel, George, Kettle. You've all the bells and missiles. You still have a good defense there. Yeah. They got the Super Bowl last year. It'll be a struggle to get back there again. But again, they're still a good coach team. Yeah. And then playoff teams in the show. So you said the Falcons probably will win us. I'd say the Eagles possibly. Yes. They could. The Bears possibly. And the Rams. You know, the Rams are going to be not going to the door as well. Yeah, they will. Because McPhee is a great coach. Like he's going to court to move with. Yeah. I just worry about the defense. And you know, I don't think that defense is going to be as good as one of us. Yeah. Right. That's who we think might start to go for the playoffs. And she look, it'll start to, things will start to come above. We'll say after week four, week five, things will settle down. We'll have a bit, we'll have more of an idea about who's gone to be good and who's gone to be bad. And as the man says, the good, the bad and the injured and the chances are we've lost a few players between that. But it is a, there are some very entertaining games there to start the season. There's some games there that would have been in primetime and other. Yes. Definitely. Yeah. Yeah. Big names, big people and big viewership trying to draw in the, the audiences. Yeah. Get the Swifties and everything like that on board. So call me a super, call me your two teams for the Super Bowl. Well, I'm not going past my chiefs. Anyway, chiefs for the AFC and for the NFC. It's a throw up between, I'm going to go between the lines, I'm going to go out between the lines and the 49ers again. I just have to feel, I've seen the lines are going to do it this time. Chief lines in the Super Bowl. Okay. With your chiefs doing the course, of course, of course, for the three piece. Yeah. I said much analysis. I don't believe in Jared Goff. I think they might be able to keep them going. I don't know. Will they make us? I need to see what the Packers are like. But I'll go stupidly. 49ers bingles. Ball prediction. Bingles to win. Okay. And Joel probably get injured in two weeks and that. Well, that'd be the end of the bingles. That is, it'll only go as far as, I just think, whenever you think of it, Luke, when players are doing money and they expect to be paid, and they're not being paid by the owners, that trick is down into the team. And I think that's going to have an effect this weekend. That's why they were all saying, if the Patriots had any sort of decent quarterback, they could have upset the bingles this weekend, but they don't. They don't have the team. They don't have the offensive lane and they're not going to upset them. No, no. I think we'll get more upset, but the only thing is, we'll see who will be able to watch the red zone from nine o'clock up. Yeah. So, congratulations that we have. And before we finish, Morgan, thanks a million for this. I said, we'll hope to do it maybe once a month for the next while. We'll get a few things out there. If anybody wants to listen to a few other podcasts around in relation to the NFL, the ATN, which is around the NFL podcast, which was sponsored by the NFL, which was great. They canceled it this year. Two leds on us have gone out of on their own and created their own one. And that's called heed the call. Well, what to listen? Because there's a bit of humor. And now that they're freed from the official NFL, they could sort of maybe a little bit more scandalistic than they were previously and call things as they truly believe. That's well, what a shout. The Atlantic have a decent podcast as well. And she's podcast of note. Morgan, or? Arrowhead headlines is a subscription that I listen to at the other time as well. Plus, I also do my fair girl mask. That's Boston sports, right? That's just if you want controversy. Just every yeah, yeah, the clouds are dark and the world is ending. And all things sport. Yeah, all things sport. And it's sometimes when they talk about non-sport and things. Yeah. And it's good for me. Yeah, it's just so funny. But they have an opinion on everything. Exactly. Yeah. Anyway, listen, that's it for episode one of the show. We'll maybe have an aim for it by the time this is podcast. We'll try and invent one for the next show. So, till next time, that's it. Take care and goodbye. Goodbye. Let's go. This is our moment. Everything we've been doing for this moment. Everything you've got, everything you're playing, and let's find a way to win a football game. Playmakers all three. One, two, three. Maybe the one word that isn't in that that's implied is do your job well. It could be enough to make the difference.
