(upbeat music) - Final segment tonight, gentlemen. We've got a boatload of super chats that we need to get through tonight. And this is gonna be our final segment of the show. So if you've already put your super chat in, here it comes. If you still wanna get one in, make sure you get it in. We're obviously not gonna take regular mailbag questions because yeah, the show's been pretty long so far. And we got a lot of super chats to get through. - Because it's two o'clock in the morning. - Yeah, they still gotta cut the show up. So let's get through some super chats, Brian. Thank you everyone in advance for the super chats that you guys have been sending us. This is awesome. And Ryan has the unenviable spot in the show right now where his face gets covered up by all the chats, which is hilarious. All right. - I'm not gonna do that to him. I moved him. (laughs) - All right. So our first super chat comes from red bearded eagle. Thank you very much. This defense has elated all three levels. Finally have receiver weapons. Backs ran well. Quarterback is a difference maker. If this team can stay healthy and the O line can clean up and improve, this could be the team to do it. - Yeah, nailed it. - Yeah. Agree. Look, there was a lot to like in this game, right Brian? I mean, there was a lot to like, there's a lot to clean up. But every mistake that was made is a mistake that can be cleaned up. False starts, you know, PIs, things like that. Those things can be cleaned up. And I think they will be, right? Some of that was environment induced, right? Some of it was rookie induced, but all those things can be cleaned up. - Yeah. As I'm reading through some of these super sessions, my answer is trust and beat it. Yep. Yep. - Fair enough. - Y'all are nailed it. Y'all are nailed it. Super check them with your chest. Appreciate you for that one. - I see you are in with Irish luck. Thanks for the super chat. Everyone that said we don't win these games better not change their tune after we won. And press with the O line performance overall and we'll only get better. Yep. - You haven't seen what I'm saying? - Yep. - Nailed it. Nailed it. - Great question. Great comments. Great comments so far. AST12321, thanks for the super chat. Notre Dame doesn't win these games. Go Irish. - I love the pettiness in which he wrote that out. It's just phenomenal. - Yes. - Yes, absolutely. 'Cause that's all we've heard, right? - From the Fame fans. - Yes, correct. Yes. Unfortunately. Prize picks is America's number one daily fantasy sports app with over five million active members. To Trev, congrats on the wedding tomorrow. We will pass on your congratulations, Iden. I'm sure that he saw it as it was coming through. So I'm sure he appreciates that as well. Be fast, thanks for the super chat. Double digit, SEC road wind, despite a truckload of mental errors, speaks to the talent and the depth on this team. Yep. Yeah. Well, agreed. Yeah. Talent and depth were on display all night long. I mean, they just were, right? I mean, they were rolling guys in, rolling guys out. I mean, the depth was evident in this game. And it's probably gonna be even more evident when I watch it back, to be honest with you, 'cause I couldn't track everything that was going on as I'm watching it live. But there were different numbers. Like somebody in the chat earlier said, they had to have their roster out because they had to keep track of all the different numbers that they aren't used to seeing. I mean, they were rolling guys in, especially defensively. And I mean, there was no drop off. I mean, yeah, the depth was evident. Han Solo, thanks for the super chat. So do you see Al Washington as an issue? His defensive line kept jumping off sides and his recruiting for the position isn't where it should be. No, yes, they jumped off sides. Kind of part of the aggressiveness, it's one game. I saw his defensive line also make a ton of plays to that. I saw his defensive line giving up very little ground in the run game. I saw his defensive line getting big pressures when they needed to get big pressures, you know. So like his recruiting yet, is it need to get better yet? Is it as bad as I think this question is making it seem to be? No, it is not. There's a happy medium there. But hey, we watched a game be played with two of the best defensive lines in the country. One that everyone will acknowledge. And Notre Dame was every bit as good as Texas A&M's, if not better, because the Notre Dame players in the fourth quarter, when they needed to step up and make plays, they made stops. When A&M needed to make big stops in the game, they couldn't do it. So, you know, big shout out to Al Washington's group tonight. Yeah, they gotta not be so jumpy three times. And they were antsy. I mean, it was the, you know, two of those happened on the first drive, right? Brian, I mean, like they were, they were geeked us to play. That's right. Yeah, and they got away with one maybe late, but yeah. No, I, do I see an issue without Washington? No, not right now, not after this game. No, anybody disagree with that? We all on the same page on that one. Andrew Letzen, thanks so much for the Super Sticker. Appreciate you. Trevor Rocket all the way from Canada. Thanks, Trevor. Really appreciate you, especially now. Lindsey is smiling down on the lads in white tonight as well as the Ivy crew and Ivy Nation. Guys, I know it was tough at times, but what did you like about the O line tonight? Thoughts, trial by fire. God bless all you guys. Brian, the battle. Yeah. No, I was just going to say they got better throughout the football game and the biggest moment they played the best football, which obviously matters. And I think that a kid like Anthony Knapp who's going to get to a player like Nick Skowerton, after you lose a rep or two, then you can kind of just tuck your tail between your legs a little bit, but he didn't. He kept battling. He kept getting better. Sam Pendleton a little bit of the same thing. And so I think the offensive line showed resiliency. And I think that you saw improvements throughout the night. We talked about it Thursday in the prediction show. They just need to get the body on the body. They don't have to dominate this. The body on the body and let the athletes take over. And that's what they did tonight. And like you said, the competition was tough for them tonight. And they competed their butts off. Yeah, I mean, look, a lot to clean up, but they competed their butts off tonight. And yeah, I mean, I'll get into the film and watch more specifically about certain things, but you know, like I can say two things I can feel confident. 'Cause like, Brian, how many times after post-game shows last year where we're like, man, I just, the O line just didn't compete. They didn't battle hard enough. I mean, remember when we watched them just get physically their butts handed to them by due class year, right? Well, they went against that same defensive coach as D line this year with way more talent and they battled their butts off. And hopefully they can make that consistent, which is not something they've watched. Right. Kay Grant with a big super chat. Thanks Kay. Appreciate you very much. Just go Irish, beat Northern Illinois. Yes, sir, can't wait. One down, one more to go. I'm actually, I'm actually excited to see the new home uniforms live and in person, you know what I mean? See if the, you know, the sun hits the gold, you know, on the jersey and all that fun. Like I'm excited to see them open up at home. Yep. I agree. I don't know, I had a plot one today. Did they? Over. Well, yeah, somebody that's not good. Okay, fair. Yeah, they punished somebody, but it was a team that they should have punished. Okay. But they were a bull team that should, though. So, you know, there's a solid Mac team, but there's still a team. Yes. Ida Minami, I hate to run Riley, but man, ride that horse. Well, I mean, Ryan, it's like, you're not going to run him next week like you did this week, but this is one of those games where you leave nothing in the chamber to win this game. Yeah, I mean, you don't, you don't, you don't shackle a talent like that, especially in a big moment, obviously. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Christopher Galloway, thanks for the super chat. What's cherished about this game is the O-line did some good things and some bad things. The film session should be fun and a lot will be learned. Agreed. Yeah. No, that, look, again, and we've said, we've said this a million times, right? Brian, when Notre Dame wins a close game and there's a lot of mistakes. I mean, it's easy to correct mistakes when you win. Like it, it's easy to watch film when you win, period. Watching film after you lose as a coach or as an analyst or whatever as a fan, it sucks. I hate it. I hate watching film after we lose, but when you win, man, there's some stuff we gotta clean up, but you know what? It's okay 'cause we got the dub, you know what I mean? So, you know, they'll get back in the lab and Joe Rudolph will get with these guys and they'll start to clean up, you know, some of those mistakes and again, six starts, right? They've almost doubled that in one night, okay? So there's gonna be mistakes all season, but as long as they get fewer and fewer and fewer and they continue to battle and battle and battle, I'm good with it. I'm okay with it, right? We said, this is a crucial year for Joe Rudolph. You know, one game in, I have to say that his decisions for the starting offensive line, I think they were a good one. - Past the first game. - Yes, after one game. - Past the first game. - Let's see where this goes, but as of right now, stock up. I love this one. - Andy Milton fan, thank you very much. Andy didn't flinch, Freeman era is here. Let's go. Agreed. We had a nice discussion, Brian, about what we learned about Marcus Freeman in this game, if anything. - I heard. - Yeah. - That was a good one. - Yeah. No, that's it. Coach Holz always talks about that, right? Don't flinch. - Yeah, 100%. - And tonight. Tonight, Notre Dame didn't flinch. I don't know that Texan M did either, to be honest with you. I don't know that I would say that they did. It's just Notre Dame, it was Notre Dame's game to looms basically with the talent that they got it done. - No, I agree with that. I just, yeah, Notre Dame was the better team in the fourth quarter. I mean, we talked about Lauren Lando and all those different things, and I just feel like Notre Dame was the better team in the fourth quarter. - No doubt. - That's where that game was won. - 13-13 with what you say, 6-30 left. - Yeah. - And they're 23-13. So when you find out who you are on the inside, right? Not take all the scheme and there comes a point in time where it's just like, who wants it more? - Right. - Tonight, Notre Dame, one of the four. - Correct. - Endy Lou, 22, thank you for the super chat. There seemed to be some miscellaneous communication. - Miscommunication. - Miscommunication. - Oh, miscommunication, thank you. Some miscommunication between Riley Leonard and the receivers, can you chalk that up to the noise? - No, I chalk that up to them not having a million reps together as their first game together. - Right. - Yeah, I don't think that's a nice thing. I think that's a, I mean, you know, you could say, maybe they didn't hear some checks or some things like that, but no, I don't think that's a noise thing. I think that's just more of a first game. Everybody got on the same page thing. - Right, agreed. - That's my take. So, I mean, I'm not gonna say that none of it was about the noise, 'cause that, you know, maybe there was a check that was made, but I think a lot of it was just getting there by the same page, or, look, there's, I mean, two, your three receivers have played tonight that are returners, two of 'em are true sophomores. The rest of you are at Jaden Thomas and the rest are receiving cords and transfers. You had three starting offensive linemen making their first career starts. You had a quarterback, you know, there's gonna be some miscommunication. Now you just, you gotta get cleaned up by, you know, two weeks from Purdue and then you certainly got it. - Sure. - You know what I mean? - Well, the running backs played last year, but they didn't start, you know what I mean? So like, they were in a new role as well. So yeah. - Right. - Look, Cooper Flanagan had a good game. Like, he had a pretty good game, I think, you know, just based on receiving the ball and stuff like that. - He had some big mistakes, but he also did a lot of good things. You had the hold that had the-- - Right, that's true. - There was a couple other times, he had the mistake where he drifted downfield on the past interference penalty that, but you know, look, again, sophomore's gonna make mistakes like that. He also had some really good blocks, some punishing blocks and-- - And that was a lot more snaps than he's ever been used to, right? - Ran a nice corner around on that snack concept, so no. I mean, like, eventually you live with those young guy mistakes in the seats. - Correct, correct. - Cooper won't make that mistake again. You know, you don't think anyway, so you live with that 'cause of the talents there. - Yeah. Sloppy Joe, thanks for the Super Chat and Marcus Freeman's defensive recruits are all hitting, Schuler, Drake, KVA, Christian, et cetera, all bald out. - Well, okay. (indistinct) I mentioned, let's give who first name mentioned in that conversation as well. Oh, absolutely. DM. Thanks for the Super Chat. Good, good win. I left my sister's wedding before dinner and had to get home and watch the game, and it was definitely worth it. Congrats, Trevor. Go Irish. - Surprise, it's just to let you get away with that, but congratulations on getting away with that. - Mm-hmm, yes, yes. - You're just saying. I mean, I don't know how your sister is, maybe she was not paying attention or whatever, but. Hey, good for you, good for you. I'm binomial with another Super Chat. Thank you very much. Jeter is major, Thor needs a lot more air on his kicks. - Couple of them, yeah. - Yeah, I mean, he looked very nonchalant when he was kicking, you know, maybe that's just his style. I don't know, I've never seen him kick before. You know, so maybe that's his style. I was hoping for a little bit more hang time on some of them, but the end result, let's say maybe they weren't pretty, but the end result, they were all inside the 20. And so, okay, like I could live with that. They were inside the 20, they, you know, okay, they flipped the field, but yeah, it wasn't pretty, but Mitch Jeter, three field goals, those were major, right? I mean, he did all the scoring in the first half. So that was major. And then the last one that he hit sealed the deal, right? And so yeah, he was clutch, man, three for three. They brought him in because he's accurate. And guess what, he was accurate. So loved it. Spark 5-2-1-9. Besides the fantastic victory, the next best thing was being able to sink my Notre Dame radio app with the play-by-play and not listening to Kirk and Chris. - Oh, you know, Vince, I push back sometimes on the whole ESPN bias. I'm like, I think there's an overall bias there because there's competition between the MSNBC school and they're, you know, they're not-- - Well, especially now that in school, but well now the ESPN has the SEC. - Right, yeah. - But Kirk, one person that has all had a very clear, I don't like Notre Dame and I'm going to not be able to be objective when talking about them is Chris Fowler. - Oh my gosh. - I've never thought Kirk Herb Street was an anti-noter name guy ever, although some of the comments I heard he made tonight were disappointing for him. Fowler's always had an anti-noter name, you know what I mean? It's just, yeah. - Well, the comment that you brought in was, I had already brought it up earlier in the show and it just ticked me off. Like I was getting ready to turn off the TV, come into the office to get ready for the show and he's like, oh, you know, there's better defenses coming so they better be ready to go. - Really? Like you just sat through that entire game and you watch this defense do what they did and supposedly watch film of this team. - Supposedly. - You've seen enough. - Allegedly. - Right, but you, in person, you have seen enough Notre Dame games to know that this defense is good. - I know you watched this defense against Ohio State last two years. I know you like that. - Right. - So what are you talking about, man? Like that ticked me off. That was the first time that he ticked me off to that night or tonight. - Yeah, they're going full in on the SEC Homerism now that they have full rights to the SEC. - Right. - It's going to get worse. - Exactly. - But I told y'all before the game that if they win ESPN and SEC schools would be like, well, it's not that good, Blobby. I told y'all that's exactly what it was. I'm just disappointed Kirk Herpstreet did that. But yeah, he did. Must have been in trouble for some comments he made recently so he had to get on the, you know, a total company line for this game. So who knows? - Nonsense. Nonsense. That's why I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to what they were saying during the game. But anyway, Andy Milton fan, thanks for the super chat. Appreciate it. Notre Dame was faster. Gives me optimism. Let's go. You said it. - I mean, you were there. Yeah, Vince, their corners at times are toying with the Texas A&M's receivers. - Yeah. - And just toying with them. - That's awesome. And I mean, you saw what the running backs did. I mean, there's a couple times like, I think they got the angle. And then Joe Dari and your Jeremiah just kind of out on them. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Yeah, there's no doubt. They were clearly the faster team. There's a couple times I thought A&M was gonna get to the edge and their line back were just closed. Or a safety came from down hill and just closed. They were absolutely the faster team to fit. I would also say this, I don't think A&M's one of the fastest SEC teams either. - Fair. - Like that's one thing we talked about. Like they're not like, oh my gosh, they're the second fastest team in the SEC besides Bama. They're not. But that was the whole point that I had coming in. This is not, this team is not where you all think that they are. - Exactly. - You know what I mean? - It's because of the SEC shield and because of how big the stadium is and all that nonsense, which okay, fine. - They were a big 12 team. Nobody would have picked A&M to beat Notre Dame. - Right, exactly. - Brian Madsen, thanks so much for the Super Chat. Appreciate you. I thought the O-Line played pretty well. It's only going to get better, agreed. I thought D-Line at times got beat because of their lack of size compared to the A&M O-Line. - There's a couple of times for that. There's a couple of times I felt like A&M was- - That's a big O-Line. - There's a couple of drives where I thought they were starting to lean on the O-Line a little bit. And you know, and they weren't like gashing them for like four here, five there. - Yes. - I think they had one drive where, I think they ended up kicking a field goal or got a touchdown where I don't know. They had a single play that went over 10 yards. - It was the touchdown drive. It was that touchdown drive, you know. - That one played towards the end. I'm sorry, they had one play late the drive that got them into the inside of the 10, but outside. - It was the 14 yard run. - To get to that point, right. But up to that point, it was like, I think the longest play they had was like seven or eight yards. - Yeah, it was. - But they were just leaning on them, yeah. - It was frustrating because I was like, Oh, here we go. You know what I mean? Like it had that like end of the game, Ohio State vibe, you know, where they kind of gave up, like Notre Dame goes down in scores. And then they gave up that touchdown drive to Ohio State. It's like crap, here we go. You know what I mean? Like that's what I started thinking because of that drive. But then they came back and they, you know, three and out part of it like, yeah. - Yeah, show exactly. - Which was massive, massive. - Yep. - I mean, Brian, after that touchdown drive, by the way, I just realized this, right? So after that touchdown drive defensively, Notre Dame goes three and out, force the punt, and then they go four and out on the final defensive drive. They only played seven more plays defensively after they allowed Texas A&M to score that touchdown. - And they didn't get another first down. - No, oh God, no, not even close. Yeah, not even close. Three and out and four and out, boom, done. Like, so they made up for the touchdown drive, that's for sure, so anyway. - Well, and you're not gonna keep a good team down like that for 60 minutes. - For sure, yeah. - And the offense was just giving them the ball back, like real quick, like they needed, and that's why I felt like that touchdown drive was also huge for Notre Dame, that counter after the first stop, because you let that defense sit on the sidelines for 10 minutes, not of game time, but 10 minutes of real time. - Yeah, right. - That was a little bit of a refresher when they got back on the final drive. - Yeah. Mike Fereno, thank you so much for the Super Chat. Ohio State fan here, oh, wow, welcome. What stood out to me? - Mike's been on the chat, he's been in the chat, so yeah. - Okay. - It was a lot of fun to show. So I haven't seen you all, Mike. So glad to have you in here, man. - Yeah, that's fantastic. What stood out to me was fourth down play calls in Notre Dame's territory. I think back to 2022 game when Notre Dame punted in OSU territory in a close game. Freeman is a different coach now. - He has a lot more faith in the players. He has on his team as well. I think that's a big part of it. You know, like, hey, I'll go for it on fourth down because I got rid of the Leonard quarterback. - Sure. - And I have a defense that I know will bail us out if we get stopped. - Yeah, I talked about that earlier. And I said that going forward on that drive, he went for it on fourth down twice, right? And to me, it was a two-fold thing. Number one, he was sending a message to his offense, his young offense, especially the offensive line that says, I think you guys got this. You're gonna get this, right? So I think it was sending a message to them, but then I also said, it allows you to make those decisions because you know the defense that you have as well. You know what I mean? It makes that decision-making process a little bit easier, but it allows him to show his faith in the offense because I think that's gonna come into play somewhere down the line. Some time this season, whether it's during the regular season or the postseason or whatever, he's gonna have to put his faith in that offensive line again. And I think that they're gonna do it, you know? Technically, they did it on both fourth downs this time. - That was the first, that second was the first down. - Oh my God. - The second serve, he was very clearly past the line, but that's what it is. - Yes. - Oh, that was horrible. Thank goodness it did not affect the outcome of the game. Thank goodness. - Yeah, for sure. - ICURM with Irish luck, thank you for the super chat. Collins needs to be careful, but I love the fire and the attitude, the wide receiver didn't fight the last, oh, wide receivers didn't fight the last few years and we need some fire. - No, you love the fire. Bo competed his butt off tonight. There's no doubt, but man, you just can't do that show. They caught a break that they didn't throw that flag. - Agreed. - They caught a little bit of a break there, but you love the compete level, you do. You just gotta, you know, you can't cross that line. You know what I mean? But yes, love the way, I mean, just fighting for that ball, then there's that back shoulder throw that he actually cut his route off a little too short and Riley actually did a good job throwing it behind him because if he leads him, he leads him out of bounds. - Sure. - But also had to flip the sips and catch. But Jayden promised the receiver's fighting. It's not just about fights for football on place you catch, but remember two years ago that picked six against Marshall where Tyler telegraphed a hitch throw and Jayden Thomas just sat and waited on the ball to come to him and didn't fight for the football. Except for that same play happen in night and Jayden fought the guy off and fortunately complete that. - Exactly. We talked about that one too. Yeah, 100%. - 100% - 100% - The block you had on the Jadarion price touchdown phenomenal. So Jayden Thomas has one catch for 14 yards. That's it, but he made a huge impact in this game team with the way he played the game. That's what you need to see. Tonight was Vogue Collins night making plays, right? And Jayden Greathouse had to make some plays, but this was Vogue Collins night. You know, the next game it may be somebody else's night and Vogue Collins got to do the dirty work, right? But that's what we saw tonight. So we saw some of those guys doing some of the dirty work and that's where you want to be. I mean, it wasn't perfect blocking on the perimeter, but you know, we saw them compete their butts off and that's the key. - Josh Phillips, thanks for the super check. Good resilient win, trust the process. Agreed? - Yeah, agreed. - It's a good process. - Now you just, now the next key is show that you can be consistent with this. You know, just compete level. And that's, that's the thing we won't learn until we get further down the road. - Light it. - Hey Irish breakdown listeners, it's Urban Meyer. This fall the game changes. Thank you very much. I was impressed with Sam Pendleton on initial review. What did you guys think? - A lot to clean up as you'd expect from a red shirt freshman, but he battled. I'm gonna wait to too much get in the film, but 'cause like there's a couple of plays where he gave up beat gap run throughs and pass pro, but I don't know if that's Sam not recognizing that the second level blitz not getting over or if maybe he didn't get the proper protection check from the quarterback. Like you don't always know that. That's gotta get cleaned up. There's certainly some areas where he had the false start. You know, the bad false start, I think fourth quarter, right? Then he was neither one that had the false start fourth quarter. - Yes, the girls, yes. - He's gotta clean that stuff up. But look guys, Vince, you and I have said this a million times with young players. Guys, you're gonna make mistakes as a young player, but make it 100 miles an hour. It's a night Sam Pendleton made a lot of first starter red shirt freshman mistakes, but he made them 100 miles an hour. And that allowed him to still make some big blocks when they needed it. So he's got a lot to clean up. But you saw tonight, Vince, why they're going with him because they believe he's a mover in the run game. And that's what he did tonight. So he'll get better and better and better. He's got lots of clean up, but man, I just, I keep saying it, I love to compete level that this unit added Sam's circle, one of those guys. - Yeah, yep. Spark 52, 19, a big hats off to the strength and conditioning staff. We talked about that as well, Brian. I always found it not funny, maybe not comical, but interesting when you hear other media members, you know, when they're watching spring practice for five periods or five periods or in the fall and they're like, "Lord Lando's doing a great job." You know, and all this stuff, it's like, do you really know that yet? - Maybe he is, maybe he is, but how do you know? - Right, that's my point exactly. Yes, now we have seen it in a game in an environment of heat and all of that where the other team was struggling and Notre Dame wasn't. And they were the stronger team in the fourth quarter. Okay, now my hats off to Lauren Lando and the nutrition staff and everything else that got these guys ready for this game, no doubt about it. But I thought that was a little premature, you know, a couple of months ago, but now, hey, okay, hey, every dog finds his tail, so I guess they were right. But right now, hats off, absolutely. I completely agree with you, Spark. It was a big part of this win tonight. Notre Dame's wine and cheese. Thanks for the Super Chat. Kyle feels a tough environment for the home team. - Ouch, love it. - I love it. (laughing) - Laura Dern's Jurassic Park shorts, easily one of my top 10 favorite names, by the way. - Five, definitely. - Okay, it might be top five. I just didn't, I didn't want to pigeonhole myself, but, you know. - I got you. - Yeah, thanks for the Super Chat. Yo, V-Daddy, R-R, missed you. SD2 mics, how you feeling now? F, yeah. Like Coach D said, just win, oh, and welcome Trevor. Hit everybody. Love it. - Yeah, into the bay, and that was the key. Just, I don't care how it happens, win the game. Just win the game. Doesn't have to be pretty. Just, you got to come out of the stadium want to know. And they did. - Yeah, for sure. - Laura Dern's Jurassic Park shorts. Again, thank you for the Super Chat. Texas AMD looked tough. - Yeah, they were. They played well. They played well. - Yeah. Nerd for life. Thank you for the Super Chat. All I heard was about crowd. They didn't do anything. One false start, if I remember correctly. Crowd doesn't cause PI or holding. Defense was unreal. I love Riley. He's not perfect, but dang. That heart missed 88. That heart missed it. I don't know what the last part. - Yep. I think he missed 88. It's probably what he's meaning. Like, Riley missed 88, not having Mitch 11s. - Oh, okay. 10-4. Gotcha, gotcha. - That's probably my guess. That's my guess, please say. - Got it. - It was a lot sick hit. It was a lot of information. All right, Hossie 03. Thanks for the Super Chat. A lot to clean up, but you got to win. That is a very succinct way to put it, and I love it. Yes. Marion Miller. Thank you for the Super Chat. Really appreciate it. The rotating linebackers were flying all over the field tonight. That's one of the things that I want to watch more specifically. Offensive line and linebacker play, to be honest with you, that when I do the look back, because I do want to see kind of what the rotation was from the line-backing core. How were they doing? There were a couple of times where I thought they took on some blocks when they maybe shouldn't have. The block destruction wasn't fantastic, but there were other times where I thought that they were very quick to pull and making plays. So, just wanted-- - It's like, yeah. - There was a swing pass that Jaden Osbury did not play well at all. Then you go back and watch that first drive on that third down stop. Jack Pfizer is out leverage on that wheel route, but wegman misses because Jaden Osbury is right in his face. This way, Vince, they were great. This way, they don't work all these. They were a little bit more inconsistent. When they were playing side to side, it was fun to watch. - And that's where the athletic center on speed coming down to this stuff, yeah. - Exactly. Exactly. - Dr. Petro, thank you so much for the Super Chat. O-line, getting by this game, sets them up for the rest of the season and for the next few years. - Yep. - Agreed, no doubt about it. Look, this was baptism by fire at its highest level. You know what I mean? And Joe Rudolph and Marcus Freeman and Coach Dembrock made a decision and they stuck by it. And they're like, look, we're gonna play these young guys. That's who we're going with. And they didn't have a quick hook on any of them from what I could tell, pretty sure they all played the entire game. And they let them play. For good or worse or however it ended up, they let those guys play. And there's nothing like experience. And they all, like I said, they went from six starts going into this game to 11 starts. They've almost doubled their starts in one game, which is mind-blowing. Lord earns Jurassic Park shorts. Thanks for another Super Chat. Got a piece out, steel mill comes calling real early tomorrow. Get that, love all you guys. Thanks for all. Thank you, Laura, appreciate you very much. Nutcrud, thanks for the Super Chat. Bo Collins appears to be a dog. This young linebacker in court played well. Let's give a shout out to Jalen Snead, thought he showed development from a talent to a football player, Go Irish. Yeah, like that one play blew up the jet suite. I mean, he had to read that. He had to read that and just destroy it. I mean, he played a lot better tonight, a lot better tonight. What we had heard he was doing, he showed up tonight. Yes, agreed. And that's the key. Yeah. Arman Galinosa, thank you so much for the Super Chat. Hopefully tonight sends a positive message to Duce tonight regarding his final decision. I love your optimism, but the reality is Duce tonight is not making the decision he's going to make here soon because of winning and losing. His decision is based off things that have nothing to do with winning and losing. 'Cause if it was, he wouldn't be going to Auburn. But I'll just tell you how I feel about the decision. Go look at my commitment list at Irishbreakdown.com and you'll know exactly how I feel about Duce's decision. It's hit a couple of that. Vowels and consonants short. Yeah. (laughing) Andrew Letzen, thanks for the Super Chat. The let's go Irish chant during the last few possessions was epic chills. Yeah, what was that like? Could you hear the crowd? Okay. Yeah, this was not nearly as, this stadium was not nearly a soundproof. It was like Notre Dame stadium is. Okay. And it was rock, I mean, it was shaking. The press box was shaking almost entire game. That's what was nice about the last couple of series 'cause it was nice and still and calm. (laughing) It's like they did the crowd out. I love that. That is fantastic. 'Cause you could hear it on TV too. The let's go Irish chant. Yeah. You could hear it on TV. I was like, that was awesome. It was freaking great. It was freaking great. Okay. It was so great. Yeah, it was good. What, before we move on, what was the, 'cause it was kind of hard to tell. It looked like a lot of A&M fans, obviously. What was the Notre Dame contingent like? It was, it was good. I mean, it wasn't like how other teams do the Notre Dame stadium, but that's 'cause A&M fans are gonna be selling their tickets like some Notre Dame fans. Like there was two big pockets, one up top, one below. Okay. And then some scattering all around. Notre Dame was well represented tonight tonight. Okay. Cool. Single dad, Jim Bo. Thanks for the super chat. How about Jalen Snead? Yup. He's got the rocket emojis. Played well. Yeah. Played well. Best I've seen him play. He's kind of got three super stickers in a row. One from A&M3. Thank you, Ed. So, so much, man. I really appreciate you. Raymond T, appreciate your super chat, man. Very, very much. And then my guy, Tim Opel, one of my former players, Tim. Tim Opel with the super sticker, appreciate you, Tim. So, so much. My guy, Spanky, had a super chat, but he also put a bad word in there that I don't want to bring up on a chat. But he said you did it to me two events. He also did it after the field goal. And after I explicitly told him not to. I don't know if that's in reference to. It's in reference to basically being excited in a text before we knew what happened. Oh, because I was giving you guys too. Yeah, that's right. 'Cause I was texting Jason too. Yeah. Yeah. That's my bad. I keep forgetting that you guys aren't watching the same time I am. Yeah, it's great. No, because I was like, oh, man. Well, now I know something good's gonna happen, but then I could sit back and not be nervous and actually watch something good happen. You know what I mean? So, hey, it didn't take away from the excitement. I mess with my wife one time during a game, 'cause it was a game that I could travel to. So I'm watching the play-by-play as I'm watching the game. You know, so I'm watching the live stats. Yeah. And the live stats always come up before the game. And so I'm like, I bet you they're doing this. I bet you they throw to this. And she's like, man, you're getting all these right. I'm sort of like, what? I said, I got the play-by-play right here, babe. She's like, oh, hot's messed up, but yeah. I have to like take my, 'cause I always have the live stats up as well for just like, you know, back up what I'm writing down anyway. So I take my laptop and I kind of close it because I don't like seeing the play-by-play before I actually see it on TV. So yeah, that's always a thing. Little, little bet. Little bet. Thank you for the super chat, really appreciate it. Loudous ND fan from Nashville. Let's go Irish. My girlfriend learned how obnoxious I could be during Irish football games. Let's go IB. Love that. Love it. That's awesome. Nashville is an awesome city, by the way. The key is that she's still your girlfriend after the game. Yeah, exactly. Let us know how that goes. But yeah, that's hilarious. Little bet again. Thank you for the super chat. Brian is getting me fired up. Choose one ESPN. Right. I mean, just pick a lane and stay in it. If you're gonna talk all that noise about how good A&M was and how much Notre Dame is gonna struggle with this, this, this, this. Don't give me the wall. They got better defense. Let's come him up down the road. How about you put some respect on that name? Y'all didn't think they could do this and they did exactly that. Right. And Y'all act like Notre Dame played out of their minds. No, they didn't. And they still got that out by 10 points. So I don't... It's not play well. I mean, let's be honest. That's what they are. It's become a joke. It's sad, but they, you know, they're what they are because they don't have any competition, but they become a joke. And it's disappointing. Yeah, it's very disappointing. Ditrol Hunter, thanks for the super chat. Trevor, get off and rest. Big day today slash tomorrow. We got them all. Yes, we did. We did. Charlie Weiss' last belt loop. Thanks for the super chat. Charlie, appreciate you. I was in the student section. That atmosphere was insane. Just got home a couple of minutes ago. Go Irish, Manziel Rolex was shining from the field as well. Oh, it was Johnny there, huh? Yeah. I mean, he was the guest pickers I've managed to. Oh. All I know is Johnny's team is on one right now. That's all I know. Yeah, yeah, good. I didn't get to see any of that stuff because I was at a cross-country meet this morning, but I didn't. I didn't realize. Because I chose not to turn it off. That's fair, too. But I wasn't even home to do it. So I didn't even know who the guest picker was, so. Between Johnny Manziel and Pat McAfee and all this other, I was like, no, I'm good. I'm good. Right. Desmond Howard, just like throw them into a, yeah, hard pass. Yeah, I love this one. Carson Jackson, thanks for the super chat. So which team had guys cramping again? I remember there was responses in the chat. Like when we were talking about like, this heat won't play a big factor. Oh, you guys are crazy. And all the A&M fans are like, oh, the heats. It's just hotter in Texas. It just, the heat means more in Texas. Yeah. Well, okay, well then, how come your team isn't prepared to handle the heat? Because it's just from Indiana, look totally fine. And then the heat. They weren't once cramping up in the fourth quarter. Why was all your guys going down? Funny how that worked. Maybe all should come up practicing in Indiana next year before your first game. I'm just saying. I mean, I guess technically Brian, we were wrong that the heat didn't have a fact, have an effect on the game. Because it did on the other day. I said it wouldn't have an effect on Notre Dame. OK, fair enough. I thought that that storyline was so overplayed to me. Like from people that don't coach, right? Like that's the thing I kept trying to. What's the guys I've coached in all his way up, but like, I bet you you never coached. And I'm like, OK, whatever, dude. Yeah. Yeah, the guy that's never been in Indiana is going to tell me what Indiana people can or can't prepare for. Sure. All right, got you. Yeah, you know, and it was hotter in Indiana the week before the game than it was in Texas, PS. Which was freaking phenomenal by the way. It was fantastic. But it made it, but the humidity means more in Texas, Vince, because they're in the SEC now. Texas is all SEC out now. It means more. Big schools from the SEC. So heat means more in Texas now than it does in Indiana. That's my favorite. It just means more. Yeah, the humidity just means more. So does that mean that that 10 point loss even means even more now? Right. Yeah. It means. So I can dig that. Mark Mangino's G. Mark Mangino's G string. Thank you for the Super Chat Mark. Pretty funny name. When or lose Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame do things the right way. I'm proud to be a Notre Dame fan. And I'm proud to be a fan of a team coached by Marcus Freeman. However, huge win. Team played with swag and a chip on their shoulder. OK, so that's all true, but I just want to let you know that the positive vibes I get every time I read about Laura Dern's Jurassic Park shorts, I get the exact opposite feeling whenever you completely ruin that thought process when you give me this Park Mangino's G string. That is a horrible thing to run through your mind. Horrible, horrible, just awful. Oh, that's fantastic. I think I'm getting punched at this point. Yeah, get back to back from Ziggy bits. OK, cool. Ziggy 13. Thanks for the super chats, plural. Thanks to all you guys. Incredible effort tonight. I'm floating on this win. Best Notre Dame coverage in the business. Great to see everyone on the show. Also, safe travels home, Brian. Thank you for IB. Great seeing you, Ryan. And Sean, too. Trevor is a fantastic addition. Always love Vince. LFG Irish. Thanks, man. Appreciate it. Appreciate it. It takes a little something extra to do shows after games, you know, because you just want to celebrate, but it's fun to celebrate with the IB family, too. So, you know, I wouldn't have it any other way. I mean, people have been hanging with us, too, Brian. Like, I don't know if you noticed the numbers, but like, people have been hanging with us. It's still over 1,000, yeah, it's awesome. And I love it. Salty, Virginia, peanuts. Thanks, my man, for the Super Chat. Why was Faison returning or not punts? So, he was returning punts before he got hurt. And then it was Great House. And they let a couple of bounds. I think that's what he's referring to. He let a couple of bounds. There was one that I thought carried a lot. Like, the one long 71-yard late. That kind of incident, it carried. We had it queued up, and it just carried-- You know, sometimes a punts kind of carry a little bit more than you think. And if he would have tried to run underneath it, it just kind of like, look, just sometimes it just, you know, you can say for it and let it go. They need to do a better job of obviously considering doing that. But he won the job in fall camp. Oh, yeah. He's a good pun returner. I mean, I think you and I talked about this. I think he's the best pun returner that they've got, just because I think it's-- I still like C. Jaden. I still like C. J. Gray. I think J. Gray House is. But I'm comfortable short-face on it. It's so close. All right. And Gray House was out there after a phase on went down. So, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like when things were like, OK, I would go with so-and-so, but I definitely understand why you're going with so-and-so. Fair enough. I'm not trying to feel about it. Yep. So this isn't Ryan, but we'll try our best to answer it. Chris Allen, thanks for the super chat. Ryan, if you're the head coach, what adjustments happened in week one to two, go Irish. Great work, gents. Well, I think he's just cleaned up the sloppiness, you know? And so the timing, you know? Look, crowd noise isn't like you jump off sides, because you're supposed to be key in the ball. So crowd noise shouldn't matter. You know, just, yeah, we got to do what we got to do. Let's be patient, you know, just wrapping up, tackling a little bit better, being a little bit better position on offense, just some of that. I think some of that timing stuff with the O line in the past game and the receivers will be some of the biggest adjustments you really see from week one to week two. And then just obviously the penalties got to get cleaned up big time when you can't have 11 penalties. Right. You know, like you said, Vince, I think all. But maybe one of their penalties, you can't really chalk up to the crowd noise. Yeah, it's just not doing what you know you're taught to do. It's a big thing. And those are all things that they can fix. I mean, all of them. Yeah. Last one, Vince. Whoa, by the way. Had to be that name. Mark Mangino's again, thanks for the super chat. You can tell Brian was a coach. He had me wanting to run through a wall. Go Irish, can't wait to hear fine bombs spin this one. I was pretty good at the motivational speeches, man. I'm going to lie to you. I was pretty good at that. That was one of my things. That was one of my things. I will say one of the things that I do love as a fan of any team, right? That is picked to lose or, you know, whatever, is just listening to whoever eat crow and how they spin it because they'll spin it. It'll be spun. You know, they're not going to eat it. I told everybody exactly how the SEC country and ESPN was going to spend this afternoon. I told him, A&M's not that good. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Initiating, blah, blah, blah, blah. And it won't be, wow. No name's Ben and we thought. Right. You know, now not everybody is concerned. With Greg Macroy, I believe Pickner named to win, right? And Joel kind of focked Pickner named to win and, you know, and like, and not everybody pickner named to lose did so out of spite with Josh Pate, Pickner named to lose. I know for a fact, Josh Pate has a lot of respect for his program. Just, you know, he made a bag pick. I picked Florida to beat Miami. It happens, you know, you get it wrong sometimes. Right. And I got it very, very wrong in that particular game. But, you know, so it happens, you know, but some of that stuff is just clown stuff. Like Paul Finebaum, he's a joke. I mean, but again, guys, that's his shtick. His shtick is not to give you real analysis. His shtick is to, like I said, the other day, he's a shocker. That's all he is. And if you're going to debate him about real analysis, then you're just, you're wasting your time. It's just, it's not worth it. First of all, stop watching it. You know, if it bothers you and us that much, stop watching it. And I do. But of course, I get told all the things that people say and get set clips and stuff like that. But I am so happy that they're all eating crow. And I just, not even be eating crow, but even if they don't say it, they know it. That's the thing is like, they don't all verbalize. Hey, we were wrong, but you know. You know, it's eating at him. And the other thing too is they exposed, Chris Fowler exposed himself to him, right? Again, for being an absolute hack, an anti-nerim hack with his comments. You know what I mean? He exposed himself for, I don't really actually know football. I'm just a personality that got this cool gig. Even though I'm not like even close to, you know, I can pretend that I'm in Gus Johnson's universe, but I'm not. You know what I mean? And, you know, like Sean McDonough, people like that, those are the people that should be doing these primetime games, not that guy. He's a joke. You know, I mean, literally bring Brent Bressmurger back. Please, for the love of God, bring him back instead of his clown. He's a joke. He's an absolute joke. But you know what the great thing about games like tonight is? They get exposed, right? 'Cause some of them like, hey, they made an honest, Nick Saban made an honest evaluation. He experienced, I took a shot at him early, but I was just kind of having fun with it. His team struggled with the noise at A&N in the last two years. Only one by six last year lost to him the time before that. I get all that. So he kind of projected. I don't think there was any bias there with Coach Saban, but he was wrong. A lot of the others, it's just, Desmond Howard just invents ways to not pick Notre Dame to win. I mean, just some of those guys, it's like, dude, like, you know, Notre Dame's on Upset, Alert, Paul Fine-Bum, well, another one wrong, got that one. Your clown show. A lot of these other guys, it's like, I don't respect them, 'cause I think that they're not being honest. And when they're wrong, like, oh, hey, look, I really thought Florida had a shot to hang on Miami. I was completely wrong. I overstated how well their offensive line would play. I overstated how well they would put their receivers in position to be successful. I got that one away wrong. I'll own that. I got it wrong. It's not that Miami's, you know, or, you know, Florida's not as good as I thought they were gonna be. Miami also played a lot better than I thought they were going to play. It really did. Miami played really well. And every time, you know, Florida tried to make it a game and Miami said, nope, not today. We're gonna kill you. You know, and so props to them, but. - Yeah. - But for a couple double-digit home losses to the non-conference of the old SEC today there, bits. Yeah, Virginia Tech wouldn't have blown that lead late. This would have been a really sweet, sweet day between the ACC and the SEC. So anyway, but yeah, I wanted to go off even more tonight, but I just started getting excited about the team and, you know, moved off of it. But they're all exposing themselves for their clownery tonight, with how they're like, how to talk about Notre Dame. - Yes. - You know, but they'll learn. - Yeah. I'm very curious to see how, you know, obviously I didn't watch any post-game stuff tonight, but I am very curious to see, 'cause there's no NFL tomorrow or anything for them to really talk about. So I'm interested to see how some of these national folks start talking about how this game went down, because look, at the end of the day, as of right now, 'cause there's still a couple of games to be played, right? There's some high-profile game tomorrow and then Monday. As of right now, this was the best game that's been played this weekend, in my opinion, right? I mean, it was, so it's gonna get talked about. Where's Notre Dame on the radar? Like, that's what I wanted to- - They may not like how they're talking about it, but they're talking about it. - Yeah, right, as I'm saying. - For sure. - But it's going to be a topic of conversation that they cannot avoid, you know what I mean? And so I am very interested to see how this goes. - Absolutely. - So is that, okay, that's right. You said that was the last one, all right. Hey, everybody, thanks for hanging out with us as long as you guys did. I mean, we had some big numbers in here, which was awesome, still big numbers at 3.11 a.m. and it's awesome. We had a blast breaking this thing down. Obviously, it's always fun to break down to W and Brian and I now, our task is to jump into the film and that is exactly what we're gonna do. And Brian's gonna make his way back to South Bend, you know, South Bend Granger area and, you know, dive into the film and I'm gonna dive into the film and then Monday night this week. Normally we'll do it Sunday night, but Monday night, we are going to have our upon further review at seven o'clock on Monday and we're gonna have some fun with it. And like I said, it's always fun to break down to W. So I'm personally gonna keep an eye on the offensive line and the linebackers and some I'm gonna focus on. Brian's got his stuff. He's gonna focus on. We're gonna have some fun with that. So if you're not a member of the board, by the way, boards.iversbreakdown.com, this is game one of the 24 season. There's gonna be some extra stuff. I'll just say that 'cause I don't wanna, I don't want to pigeonhole you, Brian, or back you into a corner, but there's gonna be some extra stuff on the boards that other people just aren't gonna get. And that's gonna start getting pumped out this week. So boards.iversbreakdown.com folks, that's where you wanna be if you wanna get into that. So also make sure you like, make sure you subscribe, make sure you hit the notification bell, share with your family and friends, all the fun stuff. But at the end of the day, boards.iversbreakdown.com is where you're gonna get all the good stuff. And so we will continue to break down this game tomorrow and Monday, and then we will turn the page to game two, home opener. But as of right now, they're one to know, Brian, and we can sit and we can celebrate that and have some fun with it over the next couple of days. And then we go on to game two and we just keep on keeping on, baby. And I, look, another name's one to know, huge hurdle to get over and I'm fired up, man. I am super fired up. So Brian, have a safe trip home. I will see you very, very soon. And everybody else, thanks for hanging with us. Appreciate y'all. This is the place to be after games. Every Saturday after games, make sure you're hanging out with us. Appreciate Ivy Nation. Thanks for hanging out with us. So until then, that's Brian. I'm Vince and we will talk to you next time on the Irish Breakdown podcast.
