[MUSIC PLAYING] Hi, I'm Sherry Krebs, your spiritual fitness coach. When one of my sons was really young, his dad took him to a fast food drive-through to get some fries in a drink. His dad ordered, paid, and handed the large fry to my son. As they were about to drive away, his dad reached over to grab a couple of fries for himself, only to be met with irritation and anger for my young son. His dad said, "I just want a couple of fries," to which my son responded, "But these are mine. I'm hungry, and if you take some, there won't be enough for me." What my son didn't realize was that his father was the one who provided the fries for him in the first place. Had it not been for him, he wouldn't have had any fries at all. And he was fully capable of providing more. Because he didn't fully understand and trust his father as the giver of the fries, he held them tightly and became stingy and even greedy. Aren't we prone to be a little bit, or maybe a lot, like this young boy? God gives us skills, gifts, and talents. He provides us a job to earn an income, maybe buy a house, a car or two, invest in our savings or retirement accounts. We often fail to acknowledge that our father in heaven is the giver of all we possess, just like my young son did. Just like the fries, we sometimes cling tightly to our money with a, "This is mine" attitude, because we believe by giving it away, we won't have enough for ourselves. Proverbs three, nine and 10 says, "Honor the Lord with your wealth "and with the first fruits of all your produce. "Then your barns will be filled with plenty "and your vats will be bursting with wine." The standard forgiving was always a tithe or 10% of income or wealth. In Malachi three, the Bible talks about robbing God by not giving a full tithe or contribution. In verse 10, it says, "Bring the full tithe "into the storehouse that there may be food in my house, "and thereby put me to the test," says the Lord of Host. "If I will not open the windows of heaven for you "and pour down for you a blessing "until there is no more need." One of the things I've learned while walking with the Lord is that you cannot out give God. He has proven it in my life over and over again. As a college student, I didn't have much money at all. I had $5 to my name and five days until the next payday. When my ride came for church, I didn't have time to get changed for my $5 to give some money to the offering. When the baskets were passed, I remember praying and telling God that I was giving all I had and trusting Him to take care of anything I needed that week. The following week, I got a letter from the Bursher's office. The letter stated that the university was doing some random audits on student accounts, and they discovered they owed me a refund for $423.27. The check was enclosed, praise God. Once I had a request to support a young lady on World Race Christian Mission, I felt the Lord calling me to make a monthly commitment for 12 months. Two weeks after that commitment, a market adjustment was conducted by my employer, and that amount was exactly what I pledged. These are just two of the many examples of God showing His faithfulness and doing more than I could ask or imagine, all because I sought to honor Him with my possessions that He was the giver of. I don't share either of these experiences to in any way say, "Look at me." I am saying, "Look at God in His faithfulness." Do you want to win today in honoring God with your money? First, recognize God as the giver of all we have. Secondly, give generously to God and others in need. I'll leave you with the words of Jesus in Luke six when he says, "Give and it will be given to you. Good measure, press down, shaken together, running over will be put into your lap, or with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you." Now, go win today. [MUSIC PLAYING] [BLANK_AUDIO]
