The Fireflies close out a historic season at Cyberpark Sunday against the second half South Division Champion, Charleston River Dogs, with something on the line for the final game of the season. As of Saturday, the Fireflies sat at 68 wins on the campaign, which matches their franchise record for wins in a single season with the 2017 team. A big part of why the team has played so well down the stretch has been the play of undrafted for agent, Callen Moss. The 20-year-old has reached base safely in all 21 games he's played for the Fireflies, which edges out Blake Mitchell for the longest on base streak of 2024. The highlight this week, though, has been a different bat, the bat of Durlan Figueroa. Columbia's utility man, Homer didn't back-to-back games Wednesday and Thursday, but the second time he came to the plate Wednesday, this happened. Two, breaking ball's hammer to right field, Mateo back at the wall, and he's out of room. Durlan Figueroa with a multi-home run game, and he gives the Fireflies a 6-0 lead. All in all, Figueroa had three homers and 13 innings of play to get to his 13th homer of the campaign. Thanks so much for tuning in this season. It's been a pleasure to bring everyone Fireflies action across 2024. For one final time, I'm John Coses.
