(upbeat music) - Welcome back football fans to the first kick off show of the Primetime Edition football function podcast. I'm your host, Goose. For this specific podcast, we're gonna be going over the Thursday night game where the Baltimore Ravens went to Kansas City to face the Super Bowl defending champions, the Chiefs. And then we're gonna kick it over to the Friday night game that took place in Brazil, where the Green Bay Packers took on the Philadelphia Eagles. It was a pretty great slate of games. Just kick off, having Baltimore come to Kansas City. We knew this was gonna be electric game. We knew coming in these were two Super Bowl contending teams. Kansas trying to go for the 3P Baltimore, trying to prove that they can make a push into the playoffs and gain that Super Bowl that they've just been so close to getting. And honestly, this game just didn't disappoint. It was electric. It was what you wanted in the game, especially when you've got Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson going head to head. It was a little bit bittersweet for me, being the Titans fan that I am, seeing Derek Henry repping the Baltimore Ravens was very, very hard. And it kind of just really kind of came a shocker to me of how really underutilized they seem to use him. He only rushed for 46 yards. Lamar Jackson rushed for 16 carries and 122 yards, but you knew that kind of coming in was Baltimore. Jackson is an amazing quarterback. So I think as time goes, they'll get that figured out with Derek Henry and be able to utilize him more to what his ability really is. As far as throwing when Lamar Jackson, 26 for 41, 273 yards, one touchdown. He did great. Patrick Mahomes threw 20 out of 28 for 291 yards. He had one touchdown and one interception, and that's just what we've come to expect from Patrick. This game, of course, came down to the wire, and really it came down to a toe. Baltimore ran it down. They were down 27 to 20, and the late in the fourth quarter and had a one drive, and really everything was going their way. They had one bad little mishap where Lamar missed an open receiver for a possible game tying, or kind of going off of how they thought they scored going for two to win the game. But on the next play, they threw to what they thought was a catch to likely, which was later rolled out of bounce. So really, that's just how great these two teams are is that the game came down to the wire, came down to literally a centimeter. And really, like I said, speaking of likely, he was my, I was not expecting him to go off as well as he did. He had nine receptions, 111 yards and one touchdown. And considering he's considered their backup tied in, it was insane how he just was able to dominate everywhere. So look out for him, me being a Mark Andrews fantasy drafter. I was a little disappointed, but yeah, Chiefs are gonna always be the Chiefs. I, you know, you come to expect that now. They've formed two Super Bowls on a row for a reason. So, but Baltimore think, you know, they didn't play great, and they still only lost by seven. So I've really looked for Baltimore to have a big year this year. And again, I think we all have come to expect the Chiefs to have a great year. So those are the two teams I really look forward to outside of my own fandom. Those are the two teams I really look forward to watching to see how the rest of their year takes place. Moving on to the first ever Brazil game, we're gonna jump over to where the Green Bay Packers face the Philadelphia Eagles on a Friday night, a rare Friday night game. Now, I'm not gonna complain that just gives us more football. I think we're all here for it, especially after this long weighted off season. So this game was just like Thursday night game, a very, very good game. They delivered perfectly. My main takeaway from this game is my goodness, Sequin Barkley is gonna be a dominant, he's back to his dominant form, two touchdowns, 109 yards, how did the New York Giants ever let him go? I think he is going to have a dominant, dominant year as Philadelphia Eagle. They just, they clicked really, you know, they had a rough start. Didn't score any points in the first quarter. Green Bay was able to get a couple of field goals, but then really from there, they were able to turn it on. They hit, AJ Brown had a 67 yard reception for a touchdown. He ended the day with only five receptions, but 119 yards and Jalen Hurts through 20 for 34, 278 yards, he had two touchdowns, but he did also have two interceptions. I think that's just what you're gonna get with him. I think Jalen Hurts is one of those that he's gonna make mistake. You know, I kind of think of him like a Josh Allen type-esque. The interceptions will be high, but he'll always, they'll always find a way to win the game. Philadelphia did manage to sneak this one out, 34 to 29 as the final score. Had a bit of moment of disaster for the Packers fans as Love, Jordan Love went down in the final minutes. Looks like he's only gonna be out three to four weeks. Now, I know that's not great for Packers fans, but hey, considering he could've been out all year, I think they'll take what they can get. The Packers team looks scrappy, you know. They're gonna, it's gonna be interesting to see what they do in the quarterback situation. You know, Malik coming from Tennessee. I like Malik, I wanted him to do good, but he just has his issues and like the play he came in taking a sack like that, not even able to get the ball off to possibly tie or win the game for your team. I think they're gonna have to look, depending on how long Jordan Love is gonna be gone, I really think they need to consider bringing somebody in unless they wanna try to ride out with Malik. Malik has started games before. I think I believe he's one and two in his starts. So if they're not wanting to get too far behind in this, well, well, competition of the NFC teams, it's gonna be interesting to see how the Packers handle this moving forward, but again, all things considered them only losing Jordan to three to four weeks. I would consider being a win when it looked like it could've been a season ending injury. So like I said, that being said, those are the two games I'm gonna cover this episode. I'll come back to y'all Monday night or early Tuesday for the Sunday night game and then the Monday night game. I'm just looking forward to finally being back to football and I just cannot wait for an exciting, exciting gear. (upbeat music) [BLANK_AUDIO]
