Yeah, without the, you know, the other noon games and three o'clock games to focus on, everyone's going to have all their attention on the Thursday night game and the Friday night game. But I would, you know, be remiss if I didn't mention how good it feels. Oh dude, it feels so fucking good. It feels great to just be back. Number one, you know, it was a long off season for some reason. It just, it felt like it, you know, just, it was warm, really long. Yeah, Dragon Ass is an understatement of how that summer went. And typically time in general just flies by. For sure. But for whatever reason, this off season just, it felt like it was just going by in a little bit of a slower pace. Maybe it's because of the Celtics and what they were able to accomplish. I'm sure that's what it was. Maybe it's because the Falcons were actually making moves. Yeah, there were things going on, but I don't know. Nonetheless, I'm happy to be here. Dude. Starting our fourth ecstatic regular season here. Go baby. Year four. On the football function podcast. And obviously, we're gonna get better every year. Right. That's the goal anyways. But this year, you know, we have some people that we're partnering with that are going to try to take not only our social media game, but you know, some other aspects of the show. We finally have our, you know, pretty long term studio, I guess. I mean, yeah. It's looking great for the foreseeable future. Terry's his station over here. It's beautiful. I gotta be honest. Just because, you know, for the longest time, or I guess since we've been in this specific house, yeah, our studio situation hasn't necessarily been what it has been known to be. You know, it's been really definitely felt like we've been flying up by the seat of our pants as far as the studio look. Yes. I mean, obviously we talked about it being like a little bit of like a battleship setting because we couldn't see each other. But now we have the, I guess, the way that we're positioned is similar to how it was in Funkyton, our original studio. So our IP Funkyton. I feel like that's going to bring a little bit of good juju to this season. Oh, hell yeah. And the fact that I feel like, you know, we're no longer sitting here in a makeshift little podcast studio. We finally have our stations, our designated stations. Yeah. Our spots. And I'm loving mine right now. I brought my award and I know where I'm going to put it. It's going to go right here. You brought it. Yeah, I brought it out there. So it's a plaque. Yeah, it's a plaque. I still have the laminate over it too. So we can definitely, you know, get that hanging up right there. I want it, I want it like right over my head. So when, so when YouTube is on and showing, that'll be what's the friend center right there, right above your boy. All right. Well, I'm glad you're going to get that bad boy in here. Yes. So we got two games to start off with though before we actually get into the week one slate. Yeah. We're going to talk about the Thursday night game, the season opener between the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs. What a game to open up with. And then the next day in Brazil, we're going to get the Green Bay Packers at the Philadelphia Eagles. So we're going to talk about those two games really quickly on this little minor or mini episode mini so it's going to be dropping on Thursday, September 5th. 5th. Yep. And then, you know, obviously the regular week one preview is going to be dropping on Friday. So stay tuned for that. Yes. But anyways, Terry, let's quite get into it, bud. Man, I've been waiting all fucking summer for this rematch of the AFC Championship. Man, the last two times we saw these teams. Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs, obviously, to fit in champions, they should be favored. They should be, you know, the team to be. Yeah. That every team is gunning forward to try to, you know, knock them off the throne. The Baltimore Ravens get up. A golden opportunity to do it here first. We've seen the Chiefs kind of struggle coming out of the gate in years past. Right. Specifically, on like Thursday night games. So. And last year, they, this was, they were in the exact position. They won the championship. They lost to the Detroit Lions. And lost to the Detroit Lions on the first week. See, so we've seen them kind of, even if they win, I've seen them win and just somehow just get off to, you know, maybe not the smoothest star. And then eventually Andy Reed and that just organization as a whole, just really kicks in another year. And we see them really take it off. Yeah. So is this going to be another season where the Kansas City Chiefs kind of struggled to get out of the gate? Or does Patrick Mahomes lay the hammer down and say, no, I'm coming for the three Pete. Yeah. Well, this is the, you know, this is the first stepping stone in the way. Definitely the first and a mighty stepping stone at that. But you kind of look at last year and saw what this team was at the beginning. It was kind of a different team that we've seen in the Chiefs past. The defense is what was leading the team. And we saw the offensive struggle a lot with no past catchers, no known past catchers really for the, for the future Hall of Famer and Pat Mahomes. But now they've reloaded. They've gotten speedsters on the outside. People that can scare you, that people that can blow the top off defense. So now that that isn't a reason for this guy to, you know, to hear in his ear, anything like that, I think they're going to be a mighty task for anybody. Obviously the defending champs are going to be, you know, the target of everybody to come for. But what I love teams doing every year is learning from their mistakes and learning from their defeats and making moves, especially in the off season. And we've seen that in a big move with adding Derek Henry to that backfield. And what that does is make a, once the best running team in the NFL last year, make it even better, obviously making Lamar Jackson a luxury as a runner and not the main focal point. You have King Henry as that. And I think that just adds a whole bunch of, you know, aspects. And obviously Derek Henry has been a thorn to the, to the Kansas City Chiefs. So I love the counter punch that they've made. Do I think it's enough moves for them to, you know, make that hump? Time will tell. I think this game is going to be a big indicator of what the future holds for the two time MVP plus, you know, maybe the three feet in that, in that category. Who knows? With Derek Henry there, I think there's going to be a, a big case of him winning three MVPs. But, you know, he's my, my front runner already in that, in that category. But as term is this game, in terms of this game, I think it's going to come down to the last second. And I'm going to give it to Justin Tucker kicking a long field goal and the Ravens pulling out this win. Okay, nice. You get your prediction there too. Because I was going to ask you where your prediction was. Yeah. Yeah. One thing I am curious about now, I know a lot of people, like you even mentioned, you touched on it, Derek Henry, working his way over to Baltimore. That's just going to be an awesome offense to watch. I'm excited to watch that as a football fan. Right. But I'm more interested in, you know, Zach, or obviously being the new Ravens defensive coordinator and placing Mike McDonald, who's now the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Right. I'm curious how they attack Patrick Mahomes now with a new defensive coordinator. Yes. You know, that new approach isn't going to be a carbon copy rematch of the agency championship game. So it is going to be new. It's going to be a new season. This bad boy is going to start it off. Yeah. And also they've got to have a better game plan going into this and not only rushing the ball six times with your tailback going in, trying to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. That's just not going to fly this time. And week one is always kind of like a hard week to predict because we don't have evidence of the starters playing. Now I know, you know, some starters play more than others in the preseason. Yeah. It's hard to really take a lot from that because you never would know they're going like, what are the team showing? Rarely, you know, hardly any coaches blitz, or do any type of pressure. Definitely vanilla defense. Yeah. So I think preseason, it's more so, knocked the rust off rather than let's see what this team's really made of. So I don't really take that as like an indicator for what we think these teams are going to be. So I think we can actually get a good idea. I mean, the Ravens are always good in the preseason, no matter what. But I'm more so interested in seeing what these two teams do against each other in the regular season. I really was whenever you were going on about what you thought about the game. I was kind of thinking, which way am I going to lean here? I was going to ask for your prediction. You obviously said Ravens. Yeah. It would be, I guess, in terms of betting, you would be smart to put money on the Ravens just because they do have a non-zero chance to pull this bad boy out. I think they have a pretty good chance, actually, but I'm still going to lean with the Chiefs. I think just their new additions, what any of you are going to do. I mean, this is like the banner night. I think the crowd is going to be there. People really aren't in factor in that. How rowdy these fans are going to be coming off of a second straight Super Bowl. Cheese fans are going to be, you know, just deafening. There's one way to phrase it. It couldn't really put it to words. It's going to be loud as hell though. We hear it all the time. People trying to find the recipe to beat some kind of, some team in any sport. And we've seen Derrick Henry be that guy to, you know, the Kryptonite to the, the Kansas City Chiefs, the guy who's pretty much averaged 110 yards every time he plays this team. I think he's like six and two. And he plays them or something like that. I looked at it earlier. But yeah, this is a guy who's who's going to be a thorn. And you had that on top of Lamar Jackson. You, you, RPO in the death, maybe, you know, obviously downhill runs with Derrick Henry power, power offense. And then open it up with, with, you know, the burners that you've got on the outside. Flowers is going to be huge this year. And then I can't remember the other one, but yeah, this is going to be an offense that's going to be scary. And it's going to prove it up from week one or here. Hollywood Brown venge game here. Oh, yeah. We're coming back to the Browns. I mean, to play his former team, the team that drafted him. So yeah, it's going to be interesting. I'm excited to see who wins this. Obviously I just said I'm going with the Kansas City Chiefs. So we split right there on the first game now the second game Friday night in Brazil. Grew me a Packers against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now this one is very interesting. If you look at how they finished their season, the Packers had a very strong playoff push finished hot dismantled the Cowboys took the 49ers to the limit. We already know they had just beaten the Lions back on Thanksgiving. So that match up probably would have been a little bit in the favor of Green Bay in my personal opinion, whereas the Eagles just had a downward slide that I mean, that's all people were talking about all off season. Well, how the Eagles finished the game, they lost like what six out of the last seven, five out of the six something like that wasn't a great finish. They end up losing to the NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now fast forward. Eagles have made some changes, Eagles have made some pretty good moves. Obviously getting Saquon Barkley from their fishing rival, getting him running behind their offensive line, probably going to see a way better version of Saquon that we've ever seen. Yeah, continuing to add weapons. I believe they just traded for Johan Dawson coming to be their slot wide receiver. So they are continuing to make these moves. I think Dallas Goudert for whatever reason, even in like a fantasy draft, not that long ago, he kept sliding down and I was like, man, what like, what's the deal? I know there's a lot of mouths to feed there. But the tight ends always going to be the quarterback's best friend, especially a quarterback like Jalen Hertz. And yes, he does love his wide receivers. He wants it to keep them happy. We've seen some sideline stuff go on with those wide receivers there in Philly, if you know, things aren't quite going their way. Right. So, you know, take that for what it's worth. But I think that Dallas Goudert is going to make plays. I think he's going to be someone that in this game, specifically the Eagles are going to lean on because that could be an area that you could attack the room backpackers. That just seems like, you know, they have a pretty stout or at least pretty decent secondary that just brought over Xavier McKinney to come be a starting safety for them. And obviously what they have with Jair Alexander, hopefully he can come a little bit back to form. We've seen him obviously have great years. We've seen him have years where it's like he gets suspended or I guess he isn't able to play one game because he went out and or he did the coin toss. I forgot the details. Oh, yeah, he went out. Oh, yeah, he liked up though. He bought the coin toss and almost screwed his team. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I think I don't know if you guys remember what happened there. Yeah, he guys attended for a game. Okay. Yeah, I think I remember that as well. But anyways, what version of the Packers are we going to get? Are we going to get that playoff push version or the team that kind of started the season a little bit slow? We saw Jordan Love in like what week seven we can really turn it on and become the quarterback that just got paid. You know, the quarterback that we know is going to be the Packers franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future. Yeah, no, no, no, he's a hell of a quarterback. It really makes me feel a little bit vindicated just from, you know, my 2020 takes about him being better than Herbert pre draft. And obviously Herbert comes out strong like it's shot out of the cannon is rookie year and I'm like, Oh man, I'm a doofus. I got pie on my face. Jordan Love's not even a starter and Rogers wins MVP wins another MVP. And it's like, damn, now Jordan Love it. I mean, is he ever going to see the field this takes aging like milk? I remember that takes a reason. And then now it's starting to look a little bit more reasonable. I'm not saying ooh, I was right. Like, give me a pat on the back. I'm just saying, I feel a little bit vindicated that it wasn't like, all right, dude, come on, because there are some bad takes. My one of my worst draft takes of all time just quickly. Yeah, go ahead. And you know, you could say it's shitty or whatever, because I mean, he was a hell of a player at West Virginia. But Kevin White, when he came out in 2015, I was Kevin White is greater than a Mari Cooper that year in the pre draft process. He was just my type of wide receiver, resembled Julio one number 11, I believe, for Chicago. And yeah, this thing just didn't work out. You know, it is what it is. No, we're 13 for Chicago. We were number 11 for West Virginia. That's probably what the the connection was. But anyways, way off topic here. I was high on Jordan Love, no pun intended, seeing him ball out the way that he is and has his team playing some phenomenal football. I'm actually picking the Packers to win this game. Yeah, I'm glad you did, because I'm going on the opposite direction of that. I'm picking Philadelphia to win this one. I think they have just too many weapons for, you know, Jair to, you know, be up the number one on, you know what I mean? He's just a guy who can only handle so much on his plate. I feel like AJ Brown is going to be just too much for him. I mean, he's going to be a stalemate, I guess, with these guys being the first game, learning a lot about each other. But they've got a couple of other guys on their roster, just being the Eagles, you know, that could light you up as well. Their new addition, Saquon. Yeah, Saquon is going to be the number one last year. Yeah, through the ground and through the air. Both ways, I think he's going to just going to be disrupted for the game plan the Packers have gone into this. And can we, first of all, give a shout out to the NFL, proving why that we are the best sport, just expanding our fandom to here in Brazil, and what a game these guys are going to get for their first game. Number one, they're not even letting these two teams wear green. The two green teams, how the judge, you know, we kind of, we kind of weird. But yeah, it's like a game in the world, man. It's a huge gang color in Brazil. So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I mean, it's like they may be equal to like Packers where this is a, it's where you can, you can showcase a different version of your jerseys. You know, this is, this is the time you could put some out for. I've always been a fan of the Eagles, black uniforms. Anyway, Brian Dawkins back in the day. Those black ones, black ones are sick as hell. Absolute stud, but you're going to Eagles, right? You're just going to be too much for the Packers to have. I think they're the run game is going to be a lot. I think the Packers have lost a lot of key players on defense. And they've got a lot of young players too that are stepping up as well. But you know, I think sequence coming with a big chip on his shoulder, the weight of the season ended for the Eagles. I think that it's just less of a bad taste. And obviously they want to put on for recently retired Jason Kelsey, you know, they want to show that, you know, his president will be missed, but they've got a good guy up front that's going to replace them. Yeah, I mean, I think number one, I mean, this is obviously, you know, a nice battle of two class of 2020 quarterback, Jalen Hertz and Jordan Love. But also just, I think it's more so I'm looking at it like a tag team at Jordan Love and Mike or Matt LaFlore, I apologize versus Nick Sirioni and Jalen Hertz. And I know there's going to be weapons galore on the Eagles side, but no sleep on what the Packers bring to the table. Obviously, they just signed Josh Jacobs. They're going to be able to pound that rock. It's not the pretty, it's not the prettiest thing. It's not what you want to see. You know, you want to see balls get bombed 40, 50 yards. But hey, the Packers can do that too. Some very good wide receivers that are underrated. And the Eagles aren't necessarily known for having just a lockdown secondary, especially the last time we saw them. So we'll see what happens. I do believe this is going to be a good matchup though. But yeah, I'm glad that we are split on both of those games that do it for this little mini episode though. Stay tuned.
