economy if we stopped allowing immigrants to come in maybe maybe not I mean the economy there's a lot of stuff going on we're importing energy and food still so how much would it affect those costs hard to say if what Trump wanted to do got done that is to say the income tax is gone and we have external tariffs now then the first thing that will happen is the income tax will go away and they're slating it to cost $4,000 or so per family the tariffs on imports so you're looking at a plus minus of somewhere between $7,000 and $10,000 on the plus side for the average family in America $7,000 more dollars a year right maybe that means something to the people maybe it doesn't I think it does if you're making 50 to 100k a year that's a lot of $7,000 but you know one of the results of a tariff like that and we're probably going to hear something about this tomorrow as well during the debate is that cost will go up it's usually the way they're left is trying to frame it right now is completely inaccurate and hopefully Trump is preparing for this question to shut this down because it's stupid but the premise that the left's running with is that the all of the costs for the import tariff tariff gets eaten by the company so it's going to pass that that law well it's not true it gets eaten by the import and the export company they'd negotiate a deal for that right like this there's fucking this amount of taxes got to get paid you're going to pay half and I'm going to pay half or it's fucking QDs based on if you buy this amount of stuff that will pay the tariff on it or whatever the fuck right there's always going to be a deal and certainly a lot of it will get passed to the consumer because that's how it works but the result of that will be that people will start buying shit in America like a my pillow that's made in America not that I'm endorsing that company or anything just saying my pillow that's made in America is now cheaper than a pillow that's imported to target right but has the price I'm serious here as the price for the that pillow gone down or has just become cheaper than the price of the tariff bill that goes up it's they don't have to change their prices because the tariff price goes up probably right right so prices aren't dropping the markets not forcing prices to drop it's just making the foreign pillow more expensive than the technically speaking that is true but it does drop prices because then there's competition inside of the US market where currently there isn't two dollar spent locally multiply multiple times before they leave the local economy right yep so wherever my pillows are manufactured that's a huge fucking economic boom for that city now because they're going to start doing like way more product there be out of the market entirely that's how the market works counterpoint though probably the best people that regulate food in the world right now are the Italians right uh they're very good out of yes and that's state run is not uh yeah all the european everything you just said about yeah europe has way less of that bullshit those are all state run regulatory bodies that is not a private market at all doing that that would also uh keep more people working so if we did it state run that wouldn't be a bad idea no he's saying state as in the government no state is in the government yeah but to be fair though a lot of those a lot but most european countries if they're in the size of this california that's more state size than the united state that's why it works for them because they don't have a massive bureaucracy um italy actually takes it seriously i don't know about the rest of those countries i know that there's a couple of northern european countries that ban everything um ireland has organization it's a private organization and the same way that the big ten is a private organization and their job is to like that i own all the contracts for these guys if you want to get if you and there's a federal law requirement there's a private company that does the work and it's not just one it's regional they're all over the place and there's ones even inside of those regions that you can go to as well there's always options um it works perfectly fine i think if you i think that works i think that's totally fine as long as you have i mean at some point there has to be a representative of the people to be maybe regulating the regulators to an extent you know what i mean yeah so as long as there's some safeguard in place that's totally fine that would that seems like it would make the most sense because then like the law is just like there's not all this fucking bureaucracy surrounding the law the law is just a law you you can't put out food that's dangerous for people right and we will determine somehow what the acceptable limits of x y and z are and if you're outside of that or whatever the fuck you're fucked and if you if somebody gets hurt because of your product now you've heard this one new york city mayor eric adam's is facing mounting questions over his ability to govern after federal investigators sees phones from multiple officials in his administration compounding scrutiny of a democrat who is already ensnared and an apparently separate criminal probe federal agents on wednesday took devices from adam's police commissioner his school chancellor two deputy mayors and several other advisors none of the officials involved have been charged with a crime but the wave of searches added to a cloud of suspicion around adam's a former city police captain who is fashioned himself as a champion of law and order they've also raised questions internally about the administration's ability to stay focused on serving the nation's largest city and a private call friday with senior staff the city's uh emergency management commissioner zak iskall offered a blunt assessment of the impact of the investigations on public safety and his statement was this is
