Welcome to September 2nd on the National Day calendar. Today, we're celebrating the fruity frozen treat and honoring the contributions of hard-working people. In 1905, 11-year-old Frank Epperson accidentally left a mixture of soda and water with the stick in it outside on a cold night. To his surprise, it had frozen solid by the next morning. This happy accident gave birth to the popsicle, a delightful treat loved by many, especially during the summer. And what better way to enjoy the last days of summer than with a delicious refreshing blueberry popsicle? That's right. Today is National Blueberry Popsicle Day. I love me some blueberry popsicles. I know, I brought in a huge bag last night. There's literally two left, Marlowe, and we know who ate it. I don't know what you're talking about, and why isn't the mouth so blue? Yeah, we know. Thanks, Marlowe. In the late 19th century, as America underwent rapid industrial growth, workers fought for better conditions and fair wages. Their efforts led to the creation of a special day to honor their contributions. The first Labor Day parade was held in New York City on September 5th, 1882. Today, we continue to recognize the hard work and dedication that have built our nation. So take a moment to reflect and relax. Because today is Labor Day. How are we celebrating? Well, we don't have any blueberry popsicles left, so do you have any barbecue? Mmm, I actually do, but I'm going to pick it up, and you're not welcome because you got me workin' today. I'm sorry about that, but do you really consider this work what we do? Nah, you're right. Okay, come on, let's go get some barbecue. I appreciate it. I'm LaToya Johnson. I'm Marlowe Anderson. Thank you for joining us on our journey to celebrate every day. And join us for all of our adventures on Facebook and Instagram at Destination Celebration Show. Until next time, keep celebrating. - Thank you.
