(upbeat music) Hello, race fans, and welcome to Disc Golf Daily. It is Wednesday, and that means it's time for, in case you missed it. We're gonna get you all caught up with all the Pro Tour stats. We're gonna do PDGA approvals, and I've got one extra little thing to note, that MVP Open is two weeks away. I run the MVP Open. There is a good chance, over the next couple weeks, that we're gonna miss some days. My apologies in advance. It's probably gonna happen. Time's getting a little tight these days. Having said that, let's get into it. Stats, from this past weekend. Ganon Burr wins his sixth Pro Tour event of the season. Sixth, 10th of his career. Can we say career? Career, Ganon Burr's career. This is gonna be a fascinating career, if he keeps this pace up. I can't wait for the current 16, 17, and 18 year olds to graduate high school, and to get in there and mix it up with Ganon. On top of this being his sixth win of the year, he has actually won every single DGPT+ event. And those are all four round events. He's won all of them this year, and he's won five of the six four round events. Just a little note, GMC, MVP, USDGC, and the Tour Championship are all four round events. This could be one of the most epic finishes to a season in history. Having said that, objects in mirror are closer than they appear. I love Ricky Wysocki's post, lead card, feeling all the nervousness, and Ricky running like a raptor man. This was a great post by Ricky, and he almost backed it up. He's five shots down from the number one player in the world, and he's saying, "I'm coming for you." With three holes left, he closes it to one. He's won down. An amazing run by Ricky. Very well posted. On the women's side, Holland Handley gets her third win of the season. She's also won Beaver State Fling, and that had people like Own and Missy and Cat, like that was a big tournament. So that's her third Pro Tour win. She's also got the Beaver State. She also averaged a 1001 event rating, and six of her last eight rounds have been 1,000 plus. So Holland Handley is real. She has hit the stage. She has a threat to win every event. She's the hands-on favorite to win the Pro Tour points. It'll be interesting to see if she can back it up and win USDGC. Any one of these last four events would make this the season of Holland. She is killing it. And yes, I'm having recency bias. I know Kristen did great at the beginning, but Holland's unstoppable right now, and if she keeps it up, it's gonna be her year. All right, now let's get into some PDGA approvals. DGA has come up with the best name for a golf disc in all of history. 202-408, I have no idea what that means. It's a person named Ryland's PDGA number, and it's expired, so that's probably not it. It looks like it's a distance driver in the Katrina Allen lineup. So, who knows? Discmania has had the P2X approved, and this is, I'm guessing, a P2 variant. And then Screech has had the elevation approved. And the elevation is a putter, maybe put an approach from Screech. It's about their tenth disc that they've had released. And then we've got two brand new companies breaking into the scene. Wonder from Loop Discs, and check out the logo on the bottom of the disc. I hope more companies start taking serious advantage of the bottom of the disc. This is a fantastic way to go. This looks like a putter and approach disc, maybe a slow mid, and the Milky Way from Galaxy Discs, which maybe has pronounced Galaxy, I'm not 100% sure. But this is the widest wing distance driver I've seen in a very long time, 2.4 centimetres on the wing width. It's a beautiful looking disc, and Galaxy is going big with their first disc, the Milky Way distance driver. And our next section is the non-endemic disc golf stories. This is a non-disc golf media covering disc golf and I've got a couple of stories that I think are really special. The Vicksburg Post put together this. During two decades of playing disc golf, Raymond Elage has won only one big tournament. And to hear Raymond talk about it, quote, "I don't even remember what year it was." For decades, he has worked tirelessly to maintain courses, been a member of several local and state players associations, and taught people young and old the joys of disc golf. That level of dedication led to Elage's recent election into the Mississippi Disc Golf Hall of Fame. When he, quote, "When he first told me last year "I was nominated, I told him, "Man, you're making my heart hurt. "You go years and years and you're out there "busting your butt trying to maintain the courses "and show everybody what you can do." That's right, Raymond, and people notice. Thank you, and congrats on being a member of the Mississippi Disc Golf Hall of Fame. Our next, our next story comes from four states, Joplin News, volunteers spent the day working in Joplin's McClelland Park, getting ready to bring dozens of the best disc golfers in the country to town for the four states open, which is in its 19th year. It is the Marquis Disc Golf Tournament for the Joplin region and will bring players from across the nation. It's an A-tier event, which is the highest level until you get on the Disc Golf Pro Tour, said Adam Jinx of the Joplin Disc Golf Association. Before that tournament can begin, Wheeler and Jinx have some work to do cleaning the course, and it will get done and be ready for some of the best players in the country. Now, why do I mention this? So the first story is really fun. You've got Raymond Elage getting into the Mississippi Disc Golf Hall of Fame, and the city paper saying that is newsworthy. The Disc Golf Hall of Fame is significant. 10 years ago, not so much. Actually, I'd say most people that they get into Disc Golf Halls of Fame are not honored in the paper, but this is a good step, and I thank the Vicksburg News for honoring Raymond Elage in the right way. The second article I really loved because it talks about the best players in the country coming to play, and it's actually an A-tier. They are very good players. They are probably not the best players in the country, but the local paper touts it that way, and imagine if we start getting spectators coming to watch the best players in the country at eight years, at regional events. These people then become spectators at the Pro Tour, then they look at Disc Golf and say, "Wow, this is a legit sport," and then they get into it because it's freaking cool and very fun to play. So I love both of these articles. Thank you very much, and make sure to get some news in your local paper and let us know about it. All right, and we're gonna close up with 2024. The season is wrapping up, and the PDGA has calls out for eight years for 2025 and for majors for 2026 and 2027. If you are interested in running a big event next year or a huge event in the future, this is the time to let the PDGA know. You gotta get your ducks in a row fast and apply. So links in the show notes to that and to the articles. Thank you all for listening. If you have any thoughts, news or opinions, shoot us an email, discoffdaily@aol.com. Have fun, throw 'em straight, share Disc Golf Daily with a friend, let 'em know maybe it won't be every day for the next couple of weeks, but after that we'll be back every day and hit the thin gap. (upbeat music) Thank you so much for watching. Please like, subscribe, comment, and share. It really does help us grow. (upbeat music) (upbeat music)
