And Cap, last night, the Cubs defeated the Dodgers by the score of six to three in fantastic fashion. However, as we get to talk about this game, there's something on the line here. Not that the Cubs are trying to get to the playoffs. I mean, that's one thing. But there's something else that's on the line here with this Cubs team. Between you and Norling. - So, Norling was crowing, they're done, they're up the track, they're this, they're that. And I said, they can get the 86 wins by my math. And Shane said, okay, good luck. They get the 86 wins. I'll buy you the most expensive steak at Chicago Cut. - Well, by my math, I'm right on track to get there. May fall game short, may get a game over. - Dorny took two of two from the Dodgers. Got a chance to sweep the series tonight. But by my math, I had to get two wins between the Yankee series and the Dodgers series. We're now at three wins. Got a chance to get the four. And so, the good question is, do I want them to get the, like if I said 85, but they make the playoffs or 86, no playoffs, but I get dinner from Norling. Fortunately, I can buy my own steak, so I take the playoffs. But if you told me 86 wins and we don't get the playoffs, we fell short, but I get a big steak and wine and the whole deal from that dude, all in. Let's go. - So, this morning with the Cubs victory against the Dodgers, the Cubs this morning are officially 75 and 70 on the season. But, Cap, still, before you even knew Shay Norling, you knew the Cubs, 'cause you're a Cubs fan. It's a team that means the most to you in Chicago. Let's just be honest. Don't you think that the playoffs are more important than trying to get money from a poor producer, one of the pours, and Shay Norling? - No, he ran his mouth. You cannot write checks that your body can't cash. - That's high end steak, you know. - He brought it up, not me. - I'm just going, "What do you want if they do it?" He said, "You okay?" They win 86 games all by you, the biggest steak in Chicago. No, the most expensive steak. - What do they need to do at that point, Caplin? 22 and eight? - Yes. - It's so far there. - What, 10 and two, since they have home? - Correct. I mean, I might have stepped in something. It is what it is. If I gotta take my friend, Caplin, out to dinner, it is what it is. I'm a little nervous that it's gonna have to happen now, and I don't know if my wallet can handle that night, that evening. My wife's gonna be a little upset. Honey, a lot of ramen noodles. I gotta take Caplin to Chicago. - First of all, how many weekend chefs do you need to pick up to try to make up for that? - A lot. But hang on a second, how long have you worked here? - Three years, almost? - You don't know me well enough to call me Caplin. - Ah, David. - Damn. - Don't call me Dave. - Damn. - I hate Dave. - That's understood. - Damn. - Okay. - Yep, understood. - Caplin. (laughing) - What did he say, man? What did he say? - What did he call you? - Right? - What did he call you? - Birdsteep. - Oh. - Anyway, Caplin hooded, my friends. - So, I would just say, Cap, I mean, you want to see the team make the playoffs. Don't you the Cubs? - Oh, absolutely, look, I love all our Chicago teams. Obviously, I'm more Cubs than White Sox. I love the Bears, I love the Bulls, I love the Blackhawks, I root for all teams that have the word Chicago on their chest. My late father taught me that. It took me a long time to mature enough to get to this level. I'm immature, I get it, but let me tell you something. If we don't make the playoffs, and they have to bring that check in the little ombre, or the little, you know, holder, and slide it over to Norlin, oh, doctor, let's go. - We love Chicago cut steakhouse, but my God, that is, that's high end, he said the most expensive steak. - That's, I have words not mine. - That was a balls on the table moment, and I slightly regret it, I'm gonna be honest. I'm getting nervous. - Well, I'll tell you that more than likely, you'll have to pay for that steak. I don't know about the playoffs for the Cubs, but they're playing good baseball, because anytime that you can go into Chavez Ravine and beat the Dodgers twice, they're on a nice roll here, Captain, again, I told you about, I don't know, three weeks ago, I said too little, too late. This is very reminiscent of last year where the Cubs were just as short of being able to get to the playoffs because they had rallied late because of how they were just so mediocre earlier in the season, just like last year. Now, they're on a nice roll. Can they be able to get there? We're gonna find out, I don't think they will, but I wanna tell you something about this game yesterday, in which the Cubs win 63. First of all, amazing how baseball has been able to evolve. Here's four attractions for you. There is Otani, who went 0 for 4. There is Suzuki for the Cubs. There's Imunaga, who is, would be number three on my Rookie of the Year list. If it wasn't for Skeens and Jackson out there in San Diego, there's no question Imunaga would be the Rookie of the Year. And you've got Yamamoto, who hasn't pitched since June out there. Look how the game has evolved. You have four Japanese players out there that are stars or guys that are definitely Yamamoto on the come, playing in that game yesterday. So that tells you how the game's evolved, it's pretty good. From there, you've got a guy. You have Pete Croiram strong cap. He's a guy. He made catches out there yesterday against the Dodgers that many cannot make. There's been five great plays so far this season for PCA that we have seen in the outfield. He has just been tremendous. Speed kills, man. Speed kills. Look what he did yesterday to save the Cubs in that ball game. You know, I mean, going over the wall, you know, going at the wall, jumping up and being able to rob a home run, then this kind of just flicks the glove. Backhanded catch at the wall. Also, a lot of guys can't make that play, but he did yesterday. It was tremendous. Defensive saving game for the Cubs and Pete Croiram strong. Pretty strong. The catch that he made on the track from-- and believe it was an Otani blast. And I think he thought it was going farther. And he's getting ready to jump. And he's like, oh, god, that's coming up short. And he slid it down on one knee. And backhanded it with his-- he's a lefty. And you see Cody Bellinger burst out laughing, like how cool it was. But the one to end the game with that Jackaloon fan trying to reach over to catch it, who's been all over Sports Center this morning. And he ends up going to the wall, Pete Croir, right in front of him, grabs it, and then kind of cradles it, turns to Cody. Cody starts laughing again, like, what is with this dude? High fly ball out towards right center field. Pete Croiram strong at the wall. Joe Halle made the catch. Oh, baby. Ah, Pete Croiram's jump steals the hoder from Max Muncie. And Max is how this one comes to an end. Same Max Muncie had a home run the fifth off of Eminaga and robs him of his second home run, which was amazing. And Tommy Edmond hit, I believe, his first two of the year, both last night. Off of Eminaga, just a little nuts and bolts on Eminaga against Edmond watching that cap. So Eminaga's a guy that pitches on the corners. He's Bob Ross, right? But also, he's a high ball hitter. I'm sorry, a high ball pitcher. Edmond is a high ball hitter. Bam, so long, everybody. He got it, you know, he got it twice. So, I mean, I think that was a great matchup for Edmond. But again, the Cubs find a way to survive in this game, scoring five in the eighth. Also in this game, the Dodgers did something I haven't seen all season. I think I see a good amount of Dodgers baseball before I go to bed. It's nine o'clock, I see you are the guy. Take a look. I've ever told my wife, I'm exhausted, I get to go to bed. She's like, but the game's still on. This was two nights ago. I said, oh, I guarantee you hoodies up. He watches Dodgers and Padres stuff all the time. Bad inning, Mariners. You don't have three errors. And they think like, that's just sloppy bad at Dodgers. Yeah, sloppy baseball. Yeah, Shea was probably sitting there, you know, all excited in the eighth. Oh, they got this one put away. Oh, five runs. Here we go. Horrible defense by the Dodgers. And then it comes where they have failed too often is you need a big hit and a big spot. And then there's Niko Horner rattling one down on the left field corner. Yeah. Pete Krom's strong was at 184, 185. And everyone's like, I don't know, send him back down. All he does is defensive. He's all the way up to 245. Yeah, raised his average like 60 some points. You got a guy, Cap. And I asked you this before about Pete Krom strong because for as good as his defense is, I was wondering like, where is he going to be in the lineup? Because like next year, he's in the strong lineup. There's no doubt. You don't take him out, Cap. That's your center fielder. Eighth, it's not like you got a murderous row that you can push him down to eighth. I'm just wondering like, in your mind's eye, do you see Pete Kroll higher in the lineup as an on base percentage guy? Because that speeds great at the bottom of the lineup or the top, but eighth, yeah. You think that he's going to be eighth when we start the season next year? No, I think he will move up higher in the lineup too, maybe. You like that speed at the top of the lineup? Oh, man. Yeah. That's old school. Because you know, the new thing is bat the George Springer's and the guys that hit like a Harper 1-2 because analytics say, why wouldn't you want your best hitter to get the most at bats? Forget having to have a little flea at the top of the lineup. And then a guy who's got good bag control and he could butt at two trying to get somebody over. That's not how the game's played anymore. So I think he'll be higher. I will tell you this. I know he makes $177 million. Dansby Swanson should be hitting ninth or eighth. That's what his, how he's hit this year. He's been better lately. Oh, for five yesterday. Yeah. Solid defender, gold glove caliber, great dude. Good leader in the room, all that. Offensively, he's been horrific this year. Horrific. Yeah. So it was, it was an interesting shave back and forth this game. There's a lot of stories to this game yesterday. Like the Cubs cannot hit Yamamoto at all. He was only supposed to go three innings. He went four. He struck out eight, like, oh, it's one of those games with the Cubs. Oh, man. Eight strikeouts through four. And then the eighth happened. And then the defense happened. And then you guys saw him starting pitching from Imanaga. It all came together. It was an interesting up and down for the Cubs yesterday watching that game. That is correct. It was an interesting up and down. But in the end, I was tired and getting ready to go to sleep. I had to do the football show with Waddle and Olin last. I'm like, all right, three to one in this game. They're not coming back. Oh, God. Cubs, here we go. Did you turn it off? No, no. I'll be honest, I didn't watch 9/15 first pitch a little late for my blood. I got to get up early in the morning. Starts off 35 years younger than me. What do you mean a little late for your blood? I'm up. I wake up at 3.30. OK, I wake up at 4.24. That's what my alarm is about. That's a whole bonus hour. That is a whole bonus hour. 4.46, I'm so tired. I was just making the point. It was 3.1 score when I'm falling asleep. Yeah, I'm not turning that on. I'm going to bed. And I woke up this morning, and I looked at the score, and I saw the stories, and I started to sweat. Hoodie, is there a way? Do you think it's fair? All the sports books have the cash-out option. Is there a way that I can hedge my wager with Kaplan? I don't think cap has a button. I don't think that you can hit a cash-out button. You know what it says? Like, draft cash-out suspended. Like, I buy you lunch today, and we call it a wash. No shot. You're hitting that button, and it's like blacked out. Cash-out. Can I cash-out? Suspended. Please, help me. Sir? I'm getting nervous. Think of my poor wife who's going to be eating ramen noodles for two weeks, so I can pay for this dinner at Chicago Cut. Well, you're young. You can take care of it, correct. Uber eats. I'm sure they're hiring. Oh my god. Wow. Damn. Memo to David Flom. Get the camis ready. Oh, wow. That's the high-end stuff there, Brian. Is that secret menu? I don't even know what that is. Oh, cat nose. I know. Oh, boy. Oh, doctor. No, no, no. Thank you, sir. But the other menu, the other menu. Oh, you want the other menu? Yes. Yes. Oh, god. I do need you as a neutral party to adjudicate something of this wager. Oh, now he needs me. Go ahead. It just hasn't-- because I thought Kaplan was out of line the other day. Kaplan walks in here, strolls in with all this swagger after a cub's victory, talking about, I'm going to order every appetizer. I'm going to get a bottle of wine. I'm going to get an extra cocktail. I'm going to get dessert. I didn't say I was paying for the entire check. I said I would buy you the most expensive steak on the menu. All that extra stuff, that's an add-on. That's not a part of this. No, when you say I'm taking you for the most expensive steak, it's the meal that you're paying for. Hood. Hood, neutral party. You know, we'll take a glass of water in the steak. OK, well, any time that he says the most expensive steak cap, I mean, he's talking about the steak. Now, he didn't mention apps unless you're going to say, can I have the app and the steak together? But I understand, Shay, you're saying that you're willing to pay for the biggest steak, but not dessert and not drinks and everything else around it. Because if you would have said, I'll take you for the most expensive dinner. Exactly. I didn't say Kaplan, I'll take you to dinner. I said Kaplan, I'll buy you the most expensive steak at Chicago Cut. Not, I'm going to go take you out for a meal. And we're going to do calamari and a bottle of wine and old fashions, the most expensive steak. After cap is done getting that most expensive steak, you're going to wish it was dessert and apps. Because cap would have given you a break. And we would have got the burger. Let me tell you something about my partner. That guy can eat. I'm just telling you, it's healthy, but he can eat. I've been with him. He can take it down now. There's no question. So you probably would have wished that you said, all right. Because he would get a side, a healthy side, some vegetables. That would have got the broccoli. Yes, he would have got the vegetables. He would have let you loose on a decent sized steak. But since you're going through all this, man, he's going for it all. David, get the waggoo in. No. Mindy, David this thing, memo to you. Get the Japanese imported waggoo. Yeah, he'll take it down. And why don't you fly it private? Were you going to put the cow on all your jets? That's it. It's a high price one. Get the concord to land in here, I will. Yeah, you might want to do some pricing here. Because I know how much that costs. Yeah. So better see if there's like coupons.com as a code. Does Groupon have anything for Chicago cut? I don't think they do. So 3, 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, ESPN, 3, 3, 2, 3, 7, 7, 6 are our phone number. So should Shay have to buy the entire dinner? Or just the steak in this Cubs bet? And again, the Cubs are 75 and 70, Cap. Still alive. Still alive. I need 11 more. Let's go. They've got three this weekend with the Rockies. Wins. You're definitely winning that series. And they're horrible. But we'll see. One batter, one pitch, one out at a time. We've got four with Washington in Chicago. They're horrible. We've got three with the Reds in Chicago. Pretty good, kid. We do have to play three at the Phillies. Yep. That's tough. That's tough. And you say Oakland? You've got Oakland three with Oakland here. That's two out of three or the sweep. It's Iminago wicks and Assad. I would like your chances very much so. As the ace play out the string as you're on a way to Sacramento. Wow. Yeah, it's very likely, Cap. Very likely. Look at the schedule. Yeah. Rockies, A's, Davy Martinez is Washington. That'll be all. And Reds. Got a shot here. That's very likely. Yeah. You're going to put him in the poorhouse. Today's we call it what we call Shea a gravy game. And I don't put gravy on my steak. But if you sweep the Dodgers, oh my goodness. I just needed one each from the Yankees and Dodgers. I've already got three set of two. I cap hang on a second. I just want to just take a look at something here. There was a a receipt here that I have from. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Cap. I guys not going to make rent next month. You want to see there's a hostile down here. Somewhere. I forgot. I'm going to get the new ski bake and appetizer. That's what I was going to be doing to me here. That's Jay Moore's receipt. Wow. We need to have the best steak there. Oh, man. What is the Cuban missile? Well, that sounds amazing. Well, that's private. That was after the meal. Wow. How about that? Maybe as an aside to my steak, the Tristan Tails, the Tristan Tails. Wow, a lot of the Tristan Tails when he was in the league. A lot of more of the Kardashian and dessert. I like the mint Oreo ice cream pie. Might have to go with the chocolate ganache cake with a little vanilla creme brulee. Oh, my God. And can I get a double cappuccino, please? Oh, we're going to get there. How many more shows can you do with Tyler to make up for that? Three, one, two, three, three. Oh, Norlin's on one to four in the morning. Yeah. She's going to call Taylor. She's going to call that. What's up? I'm going to need some extra money. Please help me. What's up? You better handicap your ass off this weekend. I'm kidding, dude. I've got to hit a couple parlays. Oh, doctor, it's not good. So what so how should this work? Should Shay have to pay for the entire meal or just the steak in this bet for the Cubs of 75 and 70 we're talking about it on the cap and Jhood morning show. Excuse me, I just say it in all the Capp and Jhood are back. Appreciate you guys. I listened to you streaming on the ESPN 1000 app. Chicago's home for sports. The Chicago Cubs cap with the victory against the Dodgers. We stayed up so in case people didn't want to. That's why we're here. Staying up watching West Coast baseball, especially with the Cubs Cubs win by the score of 63. They're now 75 and 70 on the season, but the bet is on right between you and Shay Norlin. That is correct. He said he mocked me, you know, like Sylvie mocked me the other night. Of course, I don't hear anything from Sylvie when they win, not a freaking peep, but when they lose, I get the text at 11 o'clock or 10 o'clock at night from Sylvie still alive like mocking us, but now they've taken too straight from the Dodgers. The Mets lost and we're four back. I'm not telling you they're getting there. I'm telling you it's fun to watch every night and I'm going to miss baseball when it's gone here in a few weeks, but let me tell you something. Still alive when only 85 games or when 86 games are missed to playoffs, but he still has to buy a steak. Right. I'd rather make the playoffs. I can buy my own steak to quote Dave Portner. I'm sitting on a pile of money to buy the steak and that what he said yesterday. All right. Kaplan skills. The phone lines that talk to you 3, 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, esp. is our phone number. When I tell my friends, I'm going to buy him dinner. I buy them dinner. If I say I'm going to buy him a sandwich, I buy him a sandwich. I think you're as well with everything else personally, my friend. No, when you say I'm going to buy you the most expensive steak, it's implied and understood. Oh, no, it is not clear. I'm not walking in going. Yeah, I'll take the bone in filet, can you give me a little bit of the char crust on it and a water. That's not how it works. You can get whatever you want. It's just I'll pay the steak portion and we'll split the rest of the bill. It's a bet. All right, Ken. Bad take care. That's a bad take care after the full lines we go. Joey G and Melrose Park on cap and J hood. Hey, Joey. Good morning. Morning, gentlemen. Oh, are you? Well, thank you. What do you think of all this? Well, I can't speak to you without a hook because that's exactly what Chase said. I'm going to buy you the most expensive steak. Correct. No trimmings, no this, no that, not what Thanksgiving that's your question. When I had lunch with you at chickies, did you said I'm going to buy you lunch? You said I'm going to buy you the best beef sandwich at chickies. You push me on the floor and pay. I did pay, but you were going to pay and you weren't going to go. Yeah, you can't have fries and you can't have a drink. No, you would buy me my meal. Come on, Joey. I was there for God will cut a month ago. Three of us. Yep. Sticks bills. Yeah. For three of us. Yeah. Chickies was 40 bucks. Yeah, but guess what? He shouldn't write checks that his body can't cash with his mouth. He shouldn't write checks with his mouth that his body can't cash. Joey, we're preaching the phone call. Here's Joe. Well, I don't know. This happens 100% right here. What kind of meaning that goes to eat only the steak? Of course, it's implied that he gets the whole meal. Thank you. Check out the cap how far he wants to take that. And I'm sure he's a good guy. He'll probably leave the tip. There you go. There you go. That's odd, Joe. Odd phrasing, but okay. Oh, come on. Just a tip just for a second. Okay. All right. All right. Well. People alive. Jesse, this is not going to do with you. Sometimes you got to. Well, 3, 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, 3, 7, 7, 6, our phone number. What is just a steak? Just sitting there without some kind of trimmings around it. Right. It's lonely. Just sitting there. Just steak. He asked me to take your order. Yeah, I'll take the bone in filet. That's it. Sides. No. Nope. Just a steak. Okay. Would you like a cocktail? Just a steak. No. Nobody thinks that. I said we're good. I'll pay for the steak portion. And we'll split the rest. No. There was no portion. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. All I said was I'll pay for the steak. I never said I was going to buy a whole meal. A bottle of wine. You're coming here talking about a bottle of wine. How about a glass? The most expensive glass that top the line there cheapest bottom shelf. Do you have the king Louie? I'll take. Oh, man. Whatever comes in a box. That's the glass that can order. Morgan David. Exactly. Yes. That's what it is. Gallo. Give me a box of Gallo. Oh, my God. Nothing like the box wine. Flom and Matt, the two owners, they've got what a wine collection. Oh, my God. Oh, I've seen it. You went to dinner with me? Oh, yeah. Me, you, Kishan, and Jay Williams, and Keith Williams. I've been there. That was our, was Danny there? Danny was there. Yeah. Danny was there. High end. High end. What a night there. Oh, that was a great night. Security guarding the table. Remember? That is true. Remember sitting with Jay well, you can tell me, extolling the virtues of how important the ESPN Houston market is to that show. 312-332-3332-3776 is our telephone number. We'll take more of your phone calls also. We have five burning questions for the Chicago Bears. What can we expect from the Bears in our match up against the Texans? Find out as we keep your company here until 10. Captain Jay Hood, weekday mornings seven to 10. It all sucks. Captain Jay Hood are back. And you know this, man. Chicago's home for sports. ESPN Chicago. The flame is lit and the heat's on. That's your question. Right? Hell, you got to ask me. It's five. Five burning questions. Right? I asked you a question. They asked me when I talked about Captain Jay Hood, ESPN Chicago. Let's go, Mike. Five burning questions every Wednesday on the Captain Jay Hood Morning Show. On ESPN 1,000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app, don't forget you can hear every Bears game right here on the home of the Bears ESPN 1,000 on the ESPN Chicago app. Let's start off with the first question. Number one, David Kaplan. What is your letter grade from Matt Eberfluis against Tennessee? B minus, I mean, he's not the old coordinator, so I don't put the play calling on him. The fact I give him a B, the defense first half wasn't great boy, oh boy, whatever he did at halftime to fire his guys up. They made plays, of course, Will Levis was the guy on the other end, but he did take a team that was 17 down, didn't score an offensive touchdown. And instead of two and 306, it's 2,000 in the NFL, it's three and 306. And by the way, two of those are the Bears. Sometimes as a coach, as a coaching staff, you tighten the screws. You think you have it down as a coach, you know this cap. You think we're going through every practice, we went through film, you know, exactly what to expect. And you get out there and something does not connect, something does not compute. And it's like, guys, remember, we got to be able to do this or look what they're doing to us. All right, let's go to this page. It's in the book, we got to do this. We go in the ballgame, we just stay wedded to our principals. Correct. And it happened for them in with a defense, he even flew to the defensive coordinator, man. He is. And he could see it out there like, okay, we're better than this. And look what happened. I would agree, a B is fair. Yeah, when you get 17 in the hole and don't get an offensive touchdown, you're the head coach. Some of that's going to kick back on you, but when your team rallies like they didn't find a way to win and your guys believe in you, you get credit for that too. So I'll give him a B. Next one. Number two, has Ryan Bates play in week one in which he had 38 snaps, earned him a spot in the storyline up against Houston? It's burning, man, a burning question. It is. It's a really good question. Really good. Nate Davis, take it out of the game. Ryan Bates would more of an opportunity to play because that what he did on Sunday against Tennessee affect him this upcoming Sunday against Houston. So if I was the coach, Nate Davis is starting. Now if you told me I'm the coach and I've benched him, effectively benched him during the game, if he didn't respond and practice today and tomorrow, if I didn't see a different dude in the building, like I know I screwed up, then I would start Ryan Bates. But if I went, okay, our guy's ready, then I would challenge his ass on Sunday evening Sunday afternoon. When we're getting to the stadium, you ready to do this or not? You're playing for your life right here. You ready to be here? All in. You're starting at right guard. That's how I'd handle it. What I go ahead. I'm sure. All in said yesterday to me, the most talented guard they have on the right side is Nate Davis. It's not close, but if he doesn't play well, that's what happens. You get pulled. Here's what I don't know about Nate Davis, Cap. I don't know if he's a guy that needs a massage on the shoulder because he's a veteran player or kick in the ass to get himself motivated. I don't know what it is. All I know is that from afar as a Chicago Bears fan, I need the best five out there to protect the Ricky quarterback. Did he kind of get the ball out quickly? Yes, he did. 2.71 seconds. However, Cap, again, he needs to have guys he can rely on. If he needs to extend plays, he needs offensive lineman that he can depend on. Correct. He's got a lot of emotions and the all 22s come out, right? Or is it come out today? It comes out. It dropped last night. It dropped last night late last night. Yeah, I'll watch it today. OK, so I'm just saying like, hey, man, you're a proud veteran. Nothing's guaranteed. If you don't play well, Ryan Bates will get, again, 38 or more snaps and he'll be on the sidelines. Do you want that or do you want to be out there to help this team? Big spot. It's a big spot. This is one of those moments now where I think even Flus has to champ. You know who has to really challenge him. It's Chris Morgan. Yeah. He's the offensive line coaching. He's one of the best in football. This guy can flat out coach. That's why he stayed and the rest of the offensive staff got blown out. We're doing five burning questions about the Chicago Bears on Cap and Jay Hood. Let's go to the next one. Number three. In week one, in game one, 148 yards, 92 passing yards for the offense. What numbers should we see in game two against Houston? 148 yards, game one overall, 92 passing yards. So how do you want to see those numbers improve? What number, what round number can you give me? Like passing yards first. I need to see more than 200 yards passing. So 200 yards passing for Caleb. Yep. And overall yards. Total offense for the Bears. I need to see 325 yards in total offense. I don't think that's asking for very much. That's a very low bar. Could still be a loss even with those numbers. Oh, no question. I'm going to look right now. Bears 20, 23 game log and see where they were in terms of, in terms of total offense and the games that they won last year. The total offense last year they had against the Kansas City Chiefs, they had 87 yards, I believe, passing. Yeah, 87 yards passing and rushing, they had 116. So I mean, you were just over 200. The loss to Denver, you had 300 yards passing. You had rushing, 171. That's 471 yards and you lost. That was a hard breaker. Yeah. So I need to get to somewhere around 350. I think that's a fair number now that I look at this, 350. The Washington game last year that they won just have played well, 15 to 29 for 273 and they bears ran for 178. I don't think you're piling up 170 yards rushing, but if you do, you had a great chance to win. All right, we're in the middle of five burning questions. Two more on the other side as we talk to you about the bears on the home of the bears. Cap and Jay Hood. Make me feel better. Follow Chicago's Home for Sports on Twitter at ESPN 1000. I'll see you see what that will be Mark with our black and a dollar. We turn now to our next question on five burning questions actually the name of the show. Number four. Bernstein. Okay. That'll be fine. That'll be fine. Yeah, what is the three most important bears, defensive players, non-secondary? Ooh, that's a great question. Non-secondary. One of them was brought up by Lance Briggs on Monday. I would say Andrew Billings. I would say non-secondary. Andrew Billings. One of them is a linebacker, for sure. DJ Edwards and Sweat. He's going to get chipped. So I would say either Demarcus Walker or Daryl Taylor. They're going to run two and three guys at Sweat. What's the other guy going to do? That's the question. So you said Billings Dexter and... No, not Dexter. Billings. Taylor. Billings, Taylor, and...T.J. Edwards. What do you think it's your main Edmonds performance? Oh, solid, solid football player, man. Guys, quick. Could be him over TJ, but TJ was your leading tackler in the game. I think he's got to be a beast. Let me ask you about Taylor because, I mean, he was impressive for game one. Can I say for sure that someone I can rely on all season? Like, what we relied on in training camp is all Austin Booker can be a guy. Well, it was not there. He barely played. All right. So, but with Taylor coming from Seattle, I mean, versatile defensive lineman, I'm just wondering, like, is he going to be a guy because I don't know the answer to that? Okay. So as I pulled up the numbers last night with a buddy of mine, let's see. Here are the numbers on Darryl Taylor in the game. And I mean, eight tackles, seven solos, two tackles for loss, two sacks, two quarterback hits, one fourth fumble. You're not going to get that every week, Lawrence Taylor didn't deliver that every week. But just get me pressures. Yes. Pressures. I'll tell you another guy, Demarcus Walker, hit four quarterback hits. Yes. That's big. I think it's pretty clear that the secondary is the most, like the most solid unit on the roster, on the team. That's why I want to give me the other three. That's non-secondary because that's important, Montez, what's important, Andrew Billings and Dexter's development. That's important. I just want to see who else can be able to get to the quarterback because they did a really good job of pressuring Mayo and bananas on Sunday. Will. Oh, I love this. All right. Last one, Jaymore. Number five. Are you getting warm? You got five burning questions, getting warmer? Uh, I've been singed. Okay. Who should be Caleb Williams' favorite target? Colkmette. I love that answer. I was going to jump in and say it if cap wasn't. Colkmette. Tell us why. Because, look, I don't think you're going to have Roma Dunes, eh? He's dealing with, it was week to week, now they're saying it's day to day and that he woke up on Monday and came in the facility. That's why coach Iber Flus didn't tell us because he didn't know what I was told yesterday. Dunes, they checked out clean after the game, woke up on Monday and went, man, my knee is sore. And so they sent him for the MRI and that's where they found us out. He's probably not going to be there on Sunday. They haven't ruled them out, but he's not, probably not going to play. Look, they're going to put their best guys on both DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. So unless you're running the ball downhill with Mark Sadie's Lewis and Cole Blocking, Cole should be able to make plays in the intermediate portion of the passing game. So run the ball, please. If you can. You should be able to. Yeah. This is not, it's a good front. Danelle Hunter, Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson are beasts. But guess what? They're not anywhere near as stout in the middle as Tavandre sweat and Jeffrey Simmons and all those guys from Tennessee's from four. Run the football downhill, take care of the football and then make plays in the intermediate portion until you can take a shot deep. I like the idea that he has a safety valve in tight end, whether that is cold commit or Joe Everett to set up the long pass like this is not taking anything away from DJ Moore or Keenan Allen or Tyler Scott if he is available and it'll be interesting to see how Tyler Scott fares. He was not active in week one of Dunes A's down. So does that mean they activate Tyler Scott? I think so. We'll keep our eyes on it and then remember DeAndre Carter got a snip as well in the passing game as well. He did and they should have hit him on a long pass and did not. So I'm just saying like the I would agree that the intermediate pass is good to set up the long play because for Caleb Williams and listen, Cap, the quarterback play in week one sucked. It was not great across the board. There was some good, you know, good play here and there, but it was not great in week one. But I would say that the ones that were doing it like Justin Fields, for instance, nickel dime yourself down the field to set up big plays. If you got something that's open for five yards and that's close enough to get a first down, then fine. And if that's going to be cold commit or whoever the tight end position is, Caleb doesn't have to air it out every every play. I like that I like that the ball is going vertical, but if he's getting to the tight end and that gets you first downs, keep matriculating the ball down the field totally agree, along with the running game, he'll get these big plays, these big Instagram, you know, sports center highlight plays, he'll have them, but in the meantime, get a rhythm of the offense. We only saw it for glimpses on Sunday, as you recall, back to back plays was like, all right, got a rhythm. You got to run the football first down, throw the ball to the sidelines, first down there, yardage here, move the stick, but it's got to be more consistent, obviously, for him to get a rhythm of the offense agreed, agreed. And we'll see what happens to valus Jones bears had a kick returner in yesterday for a tryout. Now, is that a message to valus or is that they're seriously thinking about moving on? I don't think they are. But we'll see. He won't be back there again. That'll be all kept. And his slots on this roster are getting smaller and smaller. Yeah. If you can't trust my special teams and he only has a certain set of plays that running back, okay, then what's next? The door. The bears had David Wallace in. He played with the Patriots during the preseason was cut, but average 29 yards during the preseason with a long of 53. Just same. Shout out no shot in two minutes on cap and Jhood.
