And Cap, I know that you have seen this on your social media and it's been talked about this week as we get ready for the Bears and the Texans. Of course, our coverage is all day Sunday right here on the home of the Bears, ESPN 1000. We've heard people talk about Caleb Williams and the offense. Of course, there's been a lot of hype around Caleb Williams leading into his time with the Chicago Bears because, after all, I mean, he's the number one draft pick. And there's going to be a big spotlight on him and the Bears. Bears are on hard knocks. Everyone is focused on the Bears to see what will happen with this team. But I know that you see what I see when -- and some of the calls have trickled in here from time to time -- that are not sure about what they see when it comes to the offense. Because as much as we say, "Hey, Ryan Polls has tried to build this thing to last." People, and rightfully so, look back at the quarterback situation this goes, "Yes, yes." In 2021, you told me about Fields. Yes, yes. In 2017, you told me about Trubisky. Yes, yes. You told me in 2009 about Cutler. Yes, you told me about Orton and Gracie and Grossman and Hutchinson and Cordell Stewart and Eric Kramer and Shane Matthews and on and on and on. Those are supposed to be the guide that lead us for the next decade to lead us to the Promised Land. And they say, "Well, how is this different with Caleb Williams?" And already through week one, there's Panic. People have a right cap to say, "Hey, I've seen it all before." But again, you have to understand that when you're a rookie, you don't get it right away. And for Caleb Williams, it's going to be a process. I think more positive and negative, but he's going to learn on the job. It's not like Cutler. It's not like Cordell Stewart. To me, it's a young man that played at a high level, played good college football, and he's going to learn. It's never going to be perfect, but I think it's going to be better than what we saw for sure. I thought he was magnificent at the podium. After the game, when you heard him here on ESPN 1,000, we get him before anybody. So it's as raw and real as you're going to get. You get him an eber-fluous before they talk to the, what I like to call, in honor of the late Chad Copic. The pen in my club. Yeah. They're all standing there waiting. Men are women. He is real. He is honest. And then you hear him yesterday and he's had a chance to watch the film and go through practice and process everything that he is experiencing as a 22-year-old young man who has the weight of the world on his shoulders because this is a football town. I thought he was outstanding. From the first interview on the radio to the interview yesterday in front of the media, that dude gets it. That dude wants this pressure. That dude is going to get better. And he's idiots that are on Twitter that I'm looking at and I'm calling you all out that are idiots out there. Oh, he sucked, man. He was terrible. Justin's this. And you guys do it. You're so rough. Shut up. And I hate that term. You sound idiotic in a city where we've never had a freaking quarterback in our lifetime. Have we had one? None. The last guy to make all-pro as a bear, Johnny Loujack in 1950. The best quarterback in bear's history. That was Sid Luckman drafted in 1939, a converted running back into the new T formation. Stop. Let this kid freakin' play. Let him develop. Stop with this first take nonsense. Oh, played bad. One game. He stinks. Move on. We should have got CJ Stroud. No, this is the guy. So some thoughts from Caleb Williams yesterday. Some things he needs to improve on from week one to week two. Yeah, I would say the drops. Sometimes I rush my drop a little bit. You know, not needing to. You know, one specific route that I can think of is Rome. I think it was a 10-yard route right over the ball. And I rushed my drop. And then I tried to juice it in there a little bit and miss. You know, I didn't need to. I'm just trying to hear him and get the ball to him. Getting his hands as fast as possible so he can make magic and do what he does. And so, you know, just making sure, you know, trusting the drop, trusting the reads and things like that. And getting through him. You know, I'd say that's probably the biggest thing that I'm focused on. And then, you know, my finishes on my play fakes or anything like that. I think that when you take a look at the Chicago Bears or any team in week one, if you feel like you didn't get the results you wanted, then you probably should turn it off in the next 17 weeks. Just turn it off because if you're not going to like, if you don't like what you saw in week one, if you think that's all you're going to see, then, you know, it's for your mental health. Just don't watch. You want to, you can, you can talk about what is a fact. And that is in week one, Caleb Williams in the offense did not play well. When you're 30th in completion percentage, when you're 27th in pass rating, when you're 30th in expected point added per attempt, those things are true that Caleb Williams, the offense struggle. There's no question. But again, the Bears won the football game. And what you're rooting for is for clearly an improvement. It will never be that bad all season. It was bad on Sunday, but the idea that, well, he sucks because you didn't get what you wanted as a Bears fan, then stop watching it. I'll be watching it because I understand it's a process. Yeah. I know people tuned in for game week cap. We've been talking about it all summer, but some people by just helicopter, and it's like, all right, let me turn back on cap and see what they got to say about the Chicago Bears. But we talked about all summer. It's going to be a process from Shane Waldron to Caleb Williams to the offensive line. It's going to take time because there's a lot of new moving parts. And it doesn't work like that in week one. I'm not panicking about week one. Week two, maybe the Bears are not going to play well. But at some point, it's going to be able to click and gel. Caleb Williams, I think, is a good enough quarterback, and Shane Waldron is a good enough offensive coordinator for it to work, but just not when you want it. I think he's going to happen this year. So I went back. I was talking with my bro, and he said, go back and look at the box scores because he did. It's how he spends his lunch. He's a doctor. But when he's got a break to eat, whatever it is that healthy man eats, and he sat down. He said, I want you to go back and look at the box scores for the first two games that Texans played a year ago. Love the brother next to you. That's exactly right. You go back and look at CJ Stroud's numbers. He wasn't great. They lost their first two. Pastor rating last year. Now he put up some decent yards, 242 in the first game. But he had a passer rating of 78. He got sacked five times for 46 yards. He was not outstanding by any means. If you look at the first two games, they're 0-2. Go back because I did. Pull up the Houston papers. Panic. Oh, here we go again, 0-2. The Chronicle, yeah. And guess what? They ended up in the playoffs. Yes. Yes. Can we just let the kid develop once all the people that know it all is about quarterback play. None of us have seen one in our town. None. So can we please just let this kid develop? If I heard he wasn't working hard, be a concern. If I heard that he was not able to read a defense, be a concern. None of that's true. Talk to his teammates. They said, dude, the guy's work ethic is off the chain. Phenomenal. Ability to go through his reads and progressions and all that. Outstanding. Best we've seen. He's a rookie in the national football league going up against angry older men. I mean, come on, man. What are we doing? Let's go. Well, I think that that mentality about Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears overall is the equivalent of you being able to go to the ballot box. Vote out without ever aldermen that you didn't like. New aldermen's in. I'm voting for this guy. You know why? Because this pothole has been in my neighborhood for three years. Right. And you know what? This new aldermen is going to make it happen. I'm going to finally get this pothole covered and I'm not going to damage my car. So the election day happens is a new aldermen. And the next day you open up the drapes and that hole is still there. Well, I voted that other guy out. How come that hole is still there? Because the aldermen doesn't know the holes there and he'll eventually get to it. But there's a process cap just because you wanted something new other than Justin Fields doesn't mean that your pothole is going to be covered the next day or the first game of the season. That's my point. Exactly right. You've used that analogy before and I always smile when you use it. It makes me laugh. Because it's true. Right. You know, like, I want this president out. Okay. We have to give this young man patience. He was playing and trying to camp against the biz. They even though they were showing him different looks and things like that. You get to a point where you're playing against the same dudes every day. You're going to get a feel of what they're going to do. Now he's actually playing against other teams that puts different defensive schemes there. So he's learning on the fly as well. So me myself as a best fan, I'm willing to give this man patience. And with all this nonsense about panic and like the last guy who called, I'm not going to knock what he said. But at the same time, dude, he's a rookie. He's learning on the fly and against the Houston defense, the only DB I would think that might give a little trouble is I think his name is stingley or something like that. I don't know if I'm saying his name correctly, but they're not really known for being a good team for intercepting aboard and more of a pass rushing team. So if this dude Shelton can give my man a chance to drop back and get the ball off. And he can hold his block. The stats from last week game with a little bit better. Now he's probably still would have had a so-called not great game. But his stat wise as far as the passing game would have been a little bit better. But the line has to hold up, man. They got to do it both parties have to do their part. The line has to hold up and the ball has to get out 2.5, 6, 7 seconds. You are correct. One last thing, one last thing. This is a message to Ryan Post. Ryan Post, call the Cleveland Browns. Go after Miles, man. We need that dude. We need Miles Garrett. I looked it up. His dead cap hit is so massive. You know, I'm a guy. Obviously, I view myself as a top tight in this league. I think I've shown that over the past couple of seasons. I feel like I'm at a point in my career now where I can be one of the very best in the league. You know, this is the best I felt coming into a camp. This is the best in shape I've been. And, you know, I stand by the stuff that I've been putting on tape throughout the preseason and practice, you know, and even in the game the other day. So, you know, that being said, like, I can only control what I can control. You know what I mean? And, you know, that's that's kind of how I have to go about it. You know, my everyone here has an ego and I think, you know, I have an ego. You have an ego. You know, everyone's got an ego in our locker room and it's just about how you manage it. And it's important to always check through ego at the door when you walk in the building. And for me, that's always about doing what's asked me. And so if it means, hey, you know, Cole, you're only going to be playing 10 to 15 snaps this game. Cole, we need you to play 50 snaps this game. Cole, we need you to play every single snaps this game. Cole, we need you to do some special team reps. Like, whatever that is, that's what I got to do for this team. And that's what I'm about as a player. And I don't have to be happy with those decisions. But at the end of the day, I have to take care of my business. And it's important to always check where you go at the door and do what's asked you. And at the end of the day, put your good and I feel like I've been doing that. And, you know, it's week one. And, you know, we got things that we got to work through. But, you know, I'm confident it'll get situated. But like I said, I feel good with where I'm at. Expectations, excitement, a little bit of trauma to me, right? Expectations. We had what you guys talked about at all. I thought you know all of us and choose you in the excitement, but the expectations of Caleb, I have patience with him, but there's a little bit of traumas of what we saw because we see it all the time. You know, you got 76, 65, and 64/71 had a tough game, and there is a little bit of panic. They're not a little bit of trauma. It's what we witnessed. Now this week, 70 and 58 are going to be tempted. They're going to be really challenged. So I'm going to have patience with 18, and you said the best hoodie, balls, and throws football. I can't remember it off the top of my head, but we're going to see a lot more pass, but cap, you mentioned it before. The first three plays of the game was 6, 4, 3. They just, they abandoned the running game for a lot of pressure on Caleb. Yeah, completely agree with you. I'm not going to be panicked, Jeff, but there's a little bit of trauma, guys, because this is, don't tell me for a second that he wasn't good. Thank God. You guys are saying he just wasn't good. He was awful. Straighty. The offense was awful. The expectations were, but let's be honest that, I mean, Waldron needs to hold me beyond the field. So we just got up, I don't know, I would expect a little bit more from Waldron. I think my expectations to him are a little bit too high too. So we'll see, but I don't want to call it panic, but there's trauma. We witnessed this stuff for a really long time. So we'll see, let's see, positive. I just, I don't know if they're going to win. I just don't want to see them to get their blood. Because lately, every time we, in the last few years, every time we went up to a really contending team, we got our butt kicked.
