The FAN Morning Show

Celebrating Joey Bats, Teammates, Media & GM Who Brought Him Here

Ben Ennis starts the show with Marco Estrada, former Jays pitcher on what it was like playing with Jose vs. facing him as an opponent and how quickly things happened in 2015 on their run to the ALCS. Next up, current Atlanta Braves OF and former OF teammate of Jose – Kevin Pillar – joins the show (25:41). More reflections on his time with Jose and his time with the Blue Jays in general. Later on, Kenny Albert, who called the Bat flip game on TV reflects on that team, that game, the play and what it meant to be a part of it (49:51). Next up, the Blue Jays GM who made the trade for Bautista – JP Ricciardi – on working with Alex Anthopoulos (assistant GM) on keeping a close eye on Jose and how they eventually made the deal (1:02:04). We close the show with one of the historic voices of baseball in Canada – Bob Elliott (1:20:10). He helps put Jose in perspective when it comes to the Jays and even within Canadian baseball. Even without a World Series win, that team brought the city and fan base back to 1992-93.
